  • These developers need to actually start waking up and stop applying band-aid fixes to all the problems in this game.

Killer at high level is without a doubt in my mind and many others I'm sure the worst gaming experience I've ever seen.

Solo queing as a survivor is also atrocious because the lack of communication to combat killer tunneling and slugging makes it miserable. The author of this post is 100% correct in saying the only ones that have fun in this game now are competent SWF players. At this rate, good riddance DBD soon enough.

  • @PapaEmeritus69 said:

I don't get this woe is me and mine mentality right now. If we have a new thread come up every 5 minutes from someone saying they quit killer or survivor because X thing is broken, then what is the real issue? Are they both right or is this proof that the game is actually getting close to some kind of balance and people don't really like that?

I'm a 60/40 killer pref player and I have to say, this is one of the BEST metas I've ever played in the last 4 or 5 years. All I can say anecdotally is that 90% of my survivor games start with someone DCing or killing themselves on hook. As killer, my games can range from pub stomp to sweat fest but I usually feel in control more or less. Playing with hard regression every game dulled a lot of you guys in my opinion, just like it dulled a lot of survivors when they had a 7 second self heal. You lost your comfortable tools and now you don't know what to do without them. So you're sputtering instead of adapting, both sides.

    Wrong.

no chance? this is completely untrue. i play with a swf, we dont win 50 percent of the matches we are in. so these killers must be amazing then .

If you bothered to read what I wrote you'd realise that what I was saying was right. In the 50% of the games that you lose I'd say the majority of those are to killers that proxy camp/tunnel and go back to hook. It's just simply the reality of this game in its current state.

  • @averagemikaelamain said:

As per title. I feel like DBD's in a rocky state right now and there's a lot of pressure on BHVR to deliver a fantastic anniversary. If BHVR "flops" in any aspect - killer design, perks, license choice (if any?),do you feel like DBD might be on a road to continously-falling playing numbers?

It'll live but the sad part is they do nothing to address core gameplay issues. Killers only camp and tunnel when vsing competent survivors because that's the most efficient way to win. Against decent survivor players the reality is killers don't stand a chance unless they camp/tunnel and play genuinely scummy. This sort of gamestyle isn't really fun for anyone and I'd like to see these devs actually make a change to how this game is played by looking at some of the fundamentals because not having changed any of it since day 1 and releasing heaps of killers and hundreds of perks has simply just made the game broken at mid to higher level gameplay, it's sad to see.

Any others who leave this game just moaning and groaning leaving the forum deserves less sympathy? Yes! Quite a few people who leave don't leave because the game is bad but they are bad, or an style they liked got nerfed.

People don't even know what mmr they are!! A better killer may be mid mmr and the survivor just had a boosted opinion of themself. Oh, sorry - I forgot everyone is top 1% mmr. My bad.

This game has faults and some leave because they no longer enjoy it, but others don't have the sense to just leave because they want easy mode and cannot get it, or play in a way which means they are reliant on perks and not skill. Sorry, but those who leave this forum with a post of moaning and crying have no sympathy from me. Someone who just isn't enjoying the game but leaves wishing others well does. Attitude is important for any respect they get.

Here's a thought then. Just shutup and let them vent their frustration maybe? You sound like the type to heap more hurt on people that are frutration and lashing out because let's face it the games never been worse than it is and it just keeps going downhill. Many people quit and vent at this very fact so maybe instead of being a toxic loser and making sure that those people don't come back how bout I dunno? Be a decent human being and have something nice to say or not say anything at all instead of being deliberately toxic.

  • @Marc_go_solo said:

This is refreshing: someone announcing they're leaving the game, but leaving with well-wishes, dignity and kind words!

I wish you well in your escaping. Feel free to return if you choose in future. Take it easy!

Because every other person that leaves the game out of frustration deserves any less sympathy? People get to high MMR as killer and then ragequit out of frustration not because they're bad at the game but because playing killer at higher MMR is completely and totally unfair. I for one am sick of these developers adding more and more characters into the game and not addressing the core gameplay issues that have been around since the start.

Yet you're crying on a forum and writing a post about deleting the game. If you're gonna uninstalled then do it. You want us to like your post and hope you don't delete your account like a social media seeker.

    Wrong.

I uninstalled two days ago champ.

My main hope for this thread is that the mods and devs actually see and understand what players are experiencing.

Nothing to do with being a so called "social media seeker".

lololololo "i'm not having fun so that means its dying"

leave the game if you want, other people still have fun. Go have fun with your anger issues

What else would you call a 60% playerbase loss in 8 months?

Furthermore there's hundreds of thousands of comments all over youtube regarding their Q&A's where it's nothing but negative feedback.

I think you're just a bigtime denialist who for whatever reason can't see what's right in front of them.

The only reason I'm still here is in the hope that the devs or mods of these forums actually witness this stuff and start to think about what they can do to change the game because I'd come back in a heartbeat if I started to see some real changes in the right direction.

People like you simply don't help because you're willing to accept the game in its current state which gives them incredibly bad info.

I would just stop acknowledging them. They clearly are being abrasive just to do it. It’s best to ignore irrelevant people.

It's really difficult to ignore these kind of peoples opinions because they seem to truly believe it's the person and not the game lol.

The numbers don't lie and people like several that have posted in this thread are only contributing to this issue.

see, the thing is , im well aware of what you're trying to say, it's just completely overshadowed by the fact that you, announcing you're uninstalling the game due to x y and z factors boils down to you, being upset that you cant do this or that, despite spending 1000+ hours in the game itself, would be a temper tantrum. Reading between the lines is one thing, but the intrinsic behaviors at play here are far more volatile than you lead on. Just learn to take a breathe and get over some stuff and i promise you'd have more fun not only in life, but in dbd. However, since you're playing the victim card so hard, i doubt anything i or anyone else could possibly say could ever get you to realize that dbd in and of itself is not a big deal, and is not a catalyst for you to express your frustration for things you can't control.

You're so far away from the point now it's actually hilarious man.

The point being made by myself and thousands if not tens of thousands of other players is the game is frustrating and boring.

We don't want to stop playing the game but that's where it leads eventually because nothing is being done to imrpove the games health.

This has nothing to do with playing a "victim card" or whatever the hell else you believe. It simply boils down to one factor, the game sucks in its current state and literally nothing to this point has been done to curb how much it sucks. Now you can ignore this very real fact and blame it on my so called anger or whatever the hell other bull you wanna come up with but it doesn't do anything except hide the real problem.

I'm done here, have fun with your dying game.

  • @HexDaddyissues said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2899474#Comment_2899474

....yes. that is considered an anger issue

you're proud to have sunk that much time into a video game you're abandoning because you can't get the title you want? yikes dude

AGAIN, It has nothing to do with the title. That is just ONE example of how bad and frustrating the game has become.

Whichever one it is just proves there's no point trying to explain anything to you because you just don't comprehend a simple point despite it being exactly that, a very simple point. It doesn't have much to do with the achievement other than the fact that it was an EXAMPLE.

Any camper/tunneler could do that and they sure don't deserve adept.

    Agreed 100%

But I didn't do this and I never do this no matter which killer I'm playing.

Point is obtaining 4 iri emblems and a double pip against competent survivor teams is extremely stupid considering how easy it is for any survivor to obtain it.

  • @HexDaddyissues said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2899420#Comment_2899420

if a video game is frustrating you to the point of needing ot uninstall, you are having a temper tantrum. i 50/50 my time between killer and survivor. the only difference is, i know how to calm myself down and remind myself it's a video game. not getting adept doesnt affect me in any way shape or form. If your hanup is that you can't get adept and THATS the push you needed to get up in arms about it, you have some serious anger management issues. Frustration is one thing, its another to devote 200+ hours to a game then completely remove yourself from said game over ONE arbitrary, criteria-changing title that affects NO ONE in or out of the game.

Again... Did you bother to read what I JUST said?

It's about the overall state of this game for killers in general. It can also be frustrating from the survivor perspective too as I play both roles around 50/50 as well so I get how annoying it can be for survivor as well but the level of frustration for killer is far worse.

You seem to be zeroing in on this adept thing that I brought up as ONE example of how frustrating the game is for killer but it was just one thing I was using to illustrate my point.

And who are you to diagnose someone with anger management issues over frustration caused by a video game where heaps of other players are experiencing the exact same frustration. You gonna claim they have anger management issues as well?

Your point is well flawed buddy whichever way you look at it.

I have 1k hours btw so this isn't just based on a small amount of hours, it's based on a few years of playing the game on and off.

This time playing the game in both roles has shone a bright light on some of the games big flaws which is what leads to the frustration I'm talking about.

  • @HexDaddyissues said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2897400#Comment_2897400

lol as if i don't play killer on my days off.

whatever man, keep breathing life into you martyr mentality and see how that works for you.

if you wanna convince yourself you're disadvantaged to the point of delirium in terms of a VIDEO GAME, you're going to live a very sad life.

players will bully players regardless of which side they play. only an incel would play the victim card this hard, especially when it's essentially a temper tantrum when they play three rounds, don't get a 4k each round and immediately announce they're uninstalling the game.

i highly suggest that next time you want to condescend to someone, you pick a topic that inst as arbitrary as a video game. or at least, find a better soap box to stand on.

Who do you think your'e talking to? Some baby 200 hour killer? I 4k'd two out of 3 of those games and it still wasn't enough for an adept achievement.

That isn't my main point anyway. The issue is for killer in general you have to play so scummy and sweaty to even get wins against remotely capable survivors. Anyone who thinks this is fine clearly hasn't seen the amount of people quitting this game as a result of this type of gameplay. These people will simply just go down with the sinking ship that is DBD eventually because that's where we're heading.

  • @DeadBySunlight said:

So you're giving up and quitting an entire game because you can't get an adept that serves no purpose in game or life? Ok

Just curious, but did you bother to read my entire post?

I am not sure what you mean by "Match how easy it is for survivor..."

IMO you are comparing apples to oranges. A survivor's gameplay =/= A killer's gameplay. The problem is you don't understand how RNG heavy this game is. In that you could be playing a more casual build and go against a strong-meta build even when your intentions were not to try hard.

So once you understand that you know that slotting your 3 adept perks which may not be the strongest, let alone optimal. You can't really turn around and say well I went against the strongest stuff and all I was trying to get is adept. Especially when it is your 3rd match ever as that killer.

Do I think that because of that maybe they should have other ways to incentivize playing killer and maybe tie the adept through that? Sure, maybe. At this point though if you are just a casual player Survivor OR Killer be ready to encounter the opposite of casual.

How are you not sure by what I mean when I say how it's easy for survivor?

Survivor just has to escape period, that's all there is to it.

Getting a merciless victory especially with some killers at any decent level is extremely difficult and you're gonna sit there and try to tell me that it should be like this for killer and that simple for survivor?

    Please, get a grip.

Bro im sorry but I laughed so hard at the beginning of this post because I understand your pain and how quick it took for you to quit

It's not the only reason I quit but it just highlights how stupid the game really is when something so simple is so flawed.

  • @Johnny_XMan said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2895126#Comment_2895126

So by fixing them you mean make it easier, correct?

Cuz if so, I disagree. Adept should feel like a challenge and also even more challenging if it is on a new killer you have never played. I can't speak for Oni but I do play Twins consistently, and if I expected to get adept on match # 3, I would think there is something wrong with me.

This is the general problem with killer players. They seek a more "fun" less frustrating experience, when in reality this translates to "easier".

Well it's either they make them easier so that they match how easy it is for survivor or rework the system completely.

Either way the killer adept system is a joke lol.

  • @Valik said:

It may have been a brash reaction - but overall, I understand where you're coming from.

Bad matches as survivor - or in general with other games - can be a bit frustrating, but nothing too major. Usually it's a bad teammate or a lame glitch, maybe a mistake I wish didn't happen... the usual gamer stuff.

When killer matches are bad, I curse Behavior for not following through on Game Design 101, or at least doing their due diligence with updates.

I'd be a lot more forgiving towards their painfully slow pace of production, AND the game as a whole, if they actually tweaked perks and reworked systems to make the game less demanding and frustrating.

I've never felt truly HELPLESS as a survivor. Sure, some games killers can be scummy. But never HELPLESS.

As killer, there are many - MANY times that I feel completely and utterly HELPLESS to catch and stop survivors. Especially when I take off-meta builds.

Agreed, the amountof times you feel like there's nothng you can do no matter how well you play because gens just keep popping is just plain stupid.

One of the many reasons I've quit.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Why buy new chapters and uninstall right away? BHVR have your money now.

People leaving the game cause of some stupid achievements. Its becoming really sad.

Nah it's not just that, it's a combination of many things but yes I agree the achievements are stupid so why not just fix them?

It's just become an extremely and ever increasingly frustrating game so I'm just not gonna endure that anymore.

  • @katoptris said:

  • @SleepyWillo said:

Dont you know? Achievements and Trophies should be acquired by merely playing a match without any difficulty.

Nothing to do with it, the adept system should be fair for both sides and it's far from it.

  • @Marigoria said:

So you expected to be good enough to get adept on a new killer after only 3 matches?

I 4k'd one of them and 3k'd another with hatch so yeah I kinda do.

Look I don't really care about adepts as much as I care about the overall frustration that this game has.

It's the only game I've ever seen where once you get remotely decent at it, it then becomes and absolute sweat fest and isn't even remotely fun after playing at higher ranks for a little bit. Just makes me cringe to think that it's been like this for so long and nothing has been done.

  • @Mooks said:

I mean.. yeah if it’s frustrating for you, you should definitely not proceed playing. And killer gameplay can be frustrating.

but Adept achievements are really not that important, completely optional and with the current grade system you should attempt them after grade reset, as it’s easier to pip on low grades.

Nothing to do with grades man lol.

MMR carries across after reset so it won't matter.

  • On top of all of these killer issues the game is becoming increasingly unstable.. at least for me it is.

The game has crashed and blue screened my PC three times this week.

As for those of you that say get a better PC, it's a near top end PC with a 3080 TI. The build cost me nearly 6k so it's nothing to do with my PC.

Furthermore I've had several friends lately encountering the same issue but when mine crashes I seem to continually get a no signal to either of my monitors when I launch my PC back up until I physically remove the PSU battery from my PC.

I was only considering quitting this game thanks to all the balance problems but now it seems like I actually may be forced to quit before it completely breaks a 6k PC setup.

  • @Hunkulese said:

Um, what? You completely missed the point. If he gets a 30 kill streak or not is completely irrelevant. He was using one of the weakest killers in the game and still won 15 games in a row, yet people still bring it up as an example of the game being survivor-sided.

If he cared enough to burn offerings, then yeah, he had a 99% chance of winning. How does that make an argument that killers are underpowered exactly?

How bout the fact that if you don't run meta slow down perks or slug extremely well you get gen rushed in 4 minutes?

Or the fact that at various points in a game you need to either chase someone for 2+ minutes or give up on a chase entirely because a good survivor will never allow themselves to be caught in a bad position and will have left a gen long before you arrive to it.

I really don't think you're playing the game much to be honest, your view is through some special kind of rose tinted glasses.

  • @Bennett_They1Them said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/317464/playing-killer-just-isnt-fun

I've always held the sentiment that this game is more like D&D than any other game. It shouldn't be about who wins or loses, but a group of actors with a shared love of horror playing out and experiencing horror stories.

That's fair enough to say but over time it's become the exact opposite sadly and the developers of the game are sitting behind the scenes not doing much and not even being remotely transparent about their plans during their Q&A's. Sad to say but the game has gone way downhill from the idea of it just being a simple much loved horror game.

  • @Dannyj said:

    i'm sorry , i do enjoy killer.

I get plenty of 4k without having to play like a sweatlord.

You are probably focusing the really good loopers or you are not defending certain gens in a strategic way.

Killer actually gives me the feeling i'm in control of the game even if i get outplayed.

Playing solo survivor and getting 2 crawlers / locker hiders is way more annoying too me

Spoken by a killer player that hasn't reached anywhere near high MMR. In those games you are never in control against good survivors because it's a well known fact that against competent survivor players you are never in control.

  • @Lochnload_exe said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2888854#Comment_2888854

Idk how to be constructive with the crying posts anymore lol sorry you aren't having fun ig? but fun is literally up to the player, it is subjective. Don't know what else to tell you, I'm still having a blast after almost 5 years a killer main. The game definitely has problems but it has never been easier to be a killer imo. So many tools to make it easier.

It's also never been easier to be a survivor. And the survivor role overall is pretty broken so when you take into account that both killer and survivor are easy to play but survivor is broken do you start to see the point yet? It has nothing to do with how easy killer is to play or what tools they have available. Like I dunno the purpose of your post actually is. You're having fun? Good for you, that's great. 90% of the player base especially killer player base currently is not so your point is pretty irrelevant.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

The most degrading part is that even when you tunnel and 2-hook and things like that, you either still lose or you win and get toxic messages. It's a forced playstyle that you're still not happy with because there's no choices, you just do.

    Perfect summary.

  • @The_Krapper said:

Well I have fun playing killer so I don't think I can relate there, In fact I got my killer to rank 1 before I really even got into the survivor side for the month and now they're both rank one and I switch between them, maybe you're just burnt out of playing the same killers? Or you might just need a week or so off from the game to really want to play it, I've noticed for alot of my friends this game is a habit for them and they play even when they don't really feel like it, taking that break will make you alot less frustrated when you do have bad games

That's nice, I'm glad you have fun with it. Yes I am burnt out of the game but that's mostly because the game is stale, broken and frustrating not because I play it alot. It has nothing to do with taking a break because even after taking one for a couple of months I came back to playing at high mmr and still it was frustrating. The reality is once you reach a certain level as killer it just becomes increasingly annoying to continue playing at that level and if you haven't got to that point yet just keep playing because it's a guarantee that at some point it will frustrate you.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I'm not doubting, but why does everyone claim to be at "mid-high levels"?

It's fairly evident when you start vsing players that have even the slightest idea on how to loop effectively and do gens efficiently.

On top of that let's just add body blocking and all the extra ######### a killer has to deal with into it as well.

Those things are how you know you're at mid-high ranks.

  • @killer_hugs said:

when i play killer i often wonder, "when does the fun start?"

sure, it can be fun to have someone run into a trap or to get a nice hit with a hatchet but what about the other 99% of the time when you're just stuck running the same loop you've run a million times that you know will just end in a dropped pallet and then onto the next loop which will just end in a dropped pallet, and then 2 gens pop and maybe you get a hook (or not, maybe you're blinded, body blocked, sabotaged and all that time was wasted and against good survivors the time lost from a single event like this will lose you the game).

in theory perks like plaything should add a lot of fun to a game but good survivors just ignore it. rush gens, laugh at killers futile efforts (unless they are a strong nurse or blight), and teabag your way out of the exit gates and then harass them in end game chat for thinking they even had a chance.

    This 100%

  • @Tsukah said:

The same can be said for survivor. Playing solo survivor just isn't fun.

    Very true I agree.

However one difference is killer games are extremely stressful and it's very easy to let it get to you.

Whereas solo survivor most of the time I'm like meh whatever, gg go next.

It's just a different dynamic to what killer is and tbh in the games current state I'd much rather play solo survivor than killer at my MMR.

The game truly sucks at that level.

  • @Clevite said:

It really is in a sad state currently. Killers using strong strategies versing mostly some form of SWF I guess.

As a solo, the amount of unfun games, stale meta, repeatedly facing the same killer( player and character) sus teammates, has just become demoralizing . I really don't see how this can be fixed anymore. You either throw games and play outside your skill level, which is a bit of an dick move, or you sweat.

I just don't see any middle ground anymore, nor how we get there. And balancing around the different skill levels as well solo vs swf is impossible. If I play with my lady, she gets destroyed, if they matched us with a killer on her level, I imagine I would be a thumb in their ass.

    Yep, all valid points.

Here's the problem though, they've allowed it to get here after many years.

They haven't address these issues that have been in the game for a long time.

Ignoring them doesn't fix them, it just makes them grow worse as new content is introduced.

I also don't see a fix or a way forward out of this mess anymore and they'll most likely continue to lose players before actually addressing this problem sadly.

I'd certainly support taking a break if the game is getting this frustrating for you. There's no point continuing to bash your head against the wall if you're not enjoying it, right?

Correct but it's developer arrogance that's driven me and probably thousands of players to this point.

Have players quit because they just don't give two shits anymore is not a good thing when it comes to game longevity but again not my problem anymore. Time to find a new game.

Like I said before, what I'm doing is making sure criticism is accurate and constructive, instead of just coming from a place of being personally annoyed with something.

Did you actually have something constructive to add to this conversation, or are you just pinging me because you want to yell about something?

Literally that because providing constructive criticism is getting this game absolutely nowhere. The makers of this game need to be made aware of how incredibly frustrating this game has become. I'm done with this now anyway, they just seem to not care all and to that I simply say cya, good riddance and I won't buy another one of yours.

  • @jesterkind Just got flashlighted after a locker grab in this game 5 times. You wanna tell me how somethng like that is still in the game? This game is absolutely CRAWLING with problems and to act like most things are working fine is a joke and a real offense to players who have committed to playing this game for years. I say again stop tip-toeing around these incapable developers so they actually start getting off their asses to do something because in its current state this game is dead within the year.

    Alright, tackled in order again...

1: Yeah, that's exactly what they're saying. They first say that the core function of the MMR is working - something we have no reason to disbelieve - and then they go on to say that it's broken in a few other places. Which stacks up- the problem is inconsistency, and they give a very believable explanation for why it's currently inconsistent. No matter what way you slice it, there's no way to interpret the answer given that boils down to "SBMM is fine", because they did not say that- they actively acknowledged that it's broken.

2: It wouldn't fix the problem, it would lessen the problem. It wouldn't do anything to address the grind in any other area beyond letting you use a perk straight away instead of needing to get it three times, everything else would still be a problem. Again, I want perk tiers removed too, but we don't gain anything from pretending there's no nuance and the developers are delusional.

3: Well, what exactly are you suggesting? The idea that the core mechanics of the game need a huge overhaul is not a foregone conclusion, you actually have to back that up and provide examples to explain why that's a better solution than just fixing the balance problems that exist within the current mechanics.

4: Right, but can you give an example. What did you want them to be more transparent about?

    -

What I am doing is not tip-toeing around the developers. It's making an effort to ensure that criticism is accurate and constructive, because your criticism getting back to them would be useless in its current state due to things being flat out wrong.

None of what I say is flat out wrong, it's just harsh and I'm just not pretending.

If their idea was to release SBMM as it is now and then say that THIS is what they intended then the game has already failed.

They had years to get ready for SBMM being introduced, it really isn't acceptable to introduce it in such a flawed state.

What they said about it in that Q&A means they're happy with how it was introduced and generally working as intended.

THAT in itself is the major concern because if this is what you call working as intended then they're already several steps behind where they need to be.

Yes it would fix the problem for a SIGNIFICANT period of time. Lessening the problem in this instance with simply removing perk tiers would massively reduce the grind and give them PLENTY of time to come up with a permanent fix. There is no negative to removing perk tiers because it provides both a long term solution and time for them to bring in a permanent solution as well which I stated in my previous point.

Again they're just being lazy and don't want the extra work.

I don't need to provide anything to prove my point the game needs an overhaul, I'm not the developer of this game. I simply stated it's very clear to see that the game is in dire need of an overhaul or something along those lines. You think the disappearing players would disagree with me on that? I know plenty of people that have grown to absolutely hate this game and it's purely down to them not doing a thing to rework the game to progress it which was what I was saying before in that the game hasn't really changed from its core.

The criticism is accurate, you just can't see it like many other people in this community. I simply don't view the game through rose-tinted glasses and BHVR as a company are failing whether you can admit it remains to be seen. I don't care if my criticism gets back to them to be honest, I just want players to be aware because BHVR seems to be immune from criticism directed at them anyway.

  • @jesterkind said:

While I empathise with the frustration held over things changing slowly, there are some things in this post that are just flat out untrue, and I feel as though there's a responsibility for someone to point that out, so...

    • They did not say SBMM was fine? That's literally not true in the least, they defended the way the number's calculated but the bottom line of that answer was "the system is currently broken in this specific way and we're working on it", not "the system is fine".
    • While I do also disagree with the decision not to remove perk tiers for now, it's worth remembering that it wouldn't solve the grind issue at all, it'd just lessen it for a while. Their answer that putting that much work into a bandaid solution would be a bad idea when a comparable amount of work could go into a permanent solution is sound, though again, I still disagree.
    • The game has categorically not remained the same apart from new characters since its release, it's improved in leaps and bounds since then and many many things have spiced up how the matches work. The Obsession, Hexes, and the Endgame Collapse were not mechanics actually present in the game when it released, for starters, and massive amounts have been done to fix balance issues across the board over time.
    • Not necessarily a rebuttal, but I am curious- what were they non-transparent about?

First off this is quoted from Patrick in the last Q&A.

"There's a common misconception that by using just kills and escapes to adjust your mmr it's ignoring skill in the game, this isn't true and this is false".

Now to me that they're implying that the major function of SBMM is working as intended and is fine which is a real issue because none of SBMM is fine at all and them not addressing this factor of the system is a huge flaw so yes they deserve all the criticism that comes their way when talking about SBMM.

Secondly, you sound like them here in your second point. Removing perk tiers will fix that issue for a SIGNIFICANT amount of time and provide them plenty of time to come up with a permanent fix. They are just simply being lazy when it comes to this topic pure and simple.

Thirdly whilst all of your points here regarding endgame collapse, obsession etc are all valid points they aren't what I was saying.

I'm talking about the fundamental mechanics of the game needing an overhaul because over time players have become naturally better at the game which only suits one side and it certainly is not the killer. Like look at the amount of effort the killer has to go to especially on some bad maps to even down ONE player not to mention hook them.

The reality is the game has needed a big overhaul for quite some time now. You speak of bandaid fixes etc right? Well what do you think they're doing with nerfing and buffing certain perks in the game. They need to make sweeping CHANGES not just nerfs and buffs which are actual bandaid fixes.

They were non-transparent about I'd say 5-10 different things throughout the Q&A not to mention the downright refuse to make plenty of changes that the vast majority of the community has been requesting for ages.

Like it really is time to stop tip-toeing around these developers and start criticising them for these kind of actions because criticism is the only thing that can really work. They sure give themselves enough pats on the back as it is when they do something right but they need to start fixing the game or this decline won't just be a decline, it will be the end of this game.

  • Games broken once you put some time into it and actually understand how it works. It's been pretty pitiful for a while now and it seems to be getting worse. Getting pretty hard to enjoy stuff like map aesthetics when the games as busted as it is.

See, the difference is.. in medicine, lives are at stake.. This is a video game. They'll get to it when they get to it.

And that's exactly their type of attitude which is very quickly killing their game.

I swear I'm starting to think these posters just have an entire group chat dedicated to who can one up the other when it comes to claiming the game is dying without any solid evidence other then "look at steam charts"

Developer arrogance and an obvious reluctance to really addresss the main issues of the game? Horrific que times outside of patches? There's several others but point made. The reality is this games been the same since release without any real major changes at all and it is suffering for it. It is dying whether you admit it or not.

Not going to breakdown your points, because little do they make sense. Very hard to make a point on person that kicks around himself just because you disagree with one point and forms something called "personal problems" where you merely disagree with one statement and tries to flamedown all. For the suspicion, I don't give a damn about your suspicion. I know many competitive player not using forum, because after they published one forum post, this is what they get - a total flame like you did for their opinion. Just because YOU can't deal with totems doesn't mean nobody can and this is not a game where developers will dance how you sing. Also, I don't really care about Otzdarva's opinions, I had enough when I have seen his survivor gameplay where he flamed his teammates in the ultimate survivor challenge.

Lastly, you are not "one of the most well known and experienced players in the game", sadly to hold this title you'd have to be known by many people, and quite frankly when I asked some very known names, nobody had clue who the hell are you. Just because you are active in the forum, doesn't mean you hold a famous title.

I'm opening this back up because I just read this today and I find it so astonishing that you're this ignorant.

Look at the state of the game right now thanks to SBMM, it's an absolute joke. It's simply highlighted some underlying pre-existing major issues within the game that have been there for ages. Survivor is an has been broken as ######### at medium to higher levels for a long time.. it's just a fact.

People like you being this clueless are contributing to this games decline, nearly 30% of players have left the game and it begins with frustrated and annoyed killers getting ######### on at the top half of the rankings. I suggest you do a bit of actual research instead of throwing these bullshit points up because they really are invalid just like your view of the state of this game.

I'm remarkably pleasured to see how interestingly people can react.

    1. I'm not a person who is using forum, this place is a nightmare and people here are trolling
    2. BNP is not strong anymore, hence why the usage dropped down solidly
    3. You cannot heal midchase with CoH, because if it's within the range, you will hear it as a killer and snuff it most likely. Will you lose the chase? Maybe. But you will lose their precious time they could have spent on generators. More information can be also found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzeblKQSYN4&t=66s
    4. OoO is not an excellent perk, it is remarkably horrendous perk which nobody uses anymore. The aura reading is situational and won't apply in chase as you would intend to. It's also generally not useful to see the killer if you are on furthest generator, because you can hear the killer isn't anywhere close to you and stealth killers completely negate the effect. DS is still abusable, but not as abusable as before. Now, you don't activate it each game, hence why people no longer run it as much, but I never implied it's a bad perk
    5. If you say there are 2 killer-sided maps, you are generally not playing this game at all. All maps are dependant on the killer itself, for example you will be more than pleasured to see Coldwind map on Billy than Nurse. This argument is completely irrelevant.
    6. Very bold statement, you cannot negate "powerful loops" and make them balanced at all times. These loops have been drastically changed troughout the years regardless.
    7. Not as strong as it was previously, vividly didn't pay attention on what I implied.
    8. I have never mentioned a single point regarding DH, completely out of point and irrelevant. I have mentioned that Exhaustion perks have been nerfed globally.
    9. So what? It was changed, thus this argument is again irrelevant.

For the last arguments you've mentioned, I'm not even going to address them. Tierlists are tremendously subjective topic, hence why I am not going to address it.

    Just stop please.

Your whole argument goes out the window when you say ######### like snuffing a boon totem is good because theat's precious time the survivors lose for not being on a gen. Have you even seen how quickly gens get completed these days even with multiple slowdown perks?

I was and never will troll regarding this topic, the game is at medium-higher mmr levels completely broken and unfair towards killers - even decent skilled killers at that too.

And his last point is EXTREMELY relevant when those killers regardless of where they were "ranked" in any tier list are very average killers at higher rank so don't just simply disregard that point when it has validity.

You just sound like an entiteld survior main who's happy with the state the game is in, but take it from someone who's got several hundred hours of survivor as well, they are utterly overpowered and extremely simple to play and play well. This in itself is the worst combination when it comes to game balance. Nothing should ever be too strong and at the same time extremely easy to play.

  • @dugman said:

    • “Boon totems” are fine in general, the only problematic one currently is Circle of Healing. Also they’ll probably be doing Mikaela’s balance pass next midchapter which is when we might see Circle of Healing toned down.
    • Decisive Strike already got a major nerf, they made it so you lose Decisive Strike when you work on generators, heal, cleanse, bless, etc. (It used to just last a minute after getting unhooked no matter what you did.)

Yes DS got a nerf but did you read what I actually said?

After DS activates and this is always the case at higher ranks the person with DS will try and run around with the new survivor that the killer is chasing in the attempt to bodyblock.

Now you might say this is a good thing because that's 1 more survivor off gens but think about it from the perspective of gen speed. High ranked survivors know that they can play like this and attempt to bodyblock because they're aware 1 or 2 other suvivors are doing gens anyway which is more than enough considering how fast gens fly by.

This in itself is where the issue is because to get value out of DS survivors feel like they have to do something while the buff is up which is esentially abusing it. This essentially means that the killer needs to slug that survivor with DS and thus giving the new survivor a chance to gain some distance and potentially escape or bite the bullet and eat the DS.

You may think DS is fine and perhaps for killers that tunnel it's a good thing but it really does give survivor an unfair advantage at higher ranks because it's literally a free hook state. Gens aren't really relevant in this discussion because they go by so quickly anyway so why can people not see how busted that is to be able to freely run around and take protection hits even if it downs you purely because you know your'e safe thanks to DS?

Perhaps it doesn't need to be nerfed but it does need to be reworked because currently it's too easy to abuse for good survivors.

  • @meatisadelicacy said:

The game has never been easier for killers. Change after change after change just makes the game easier for killers. Toolboxes? Irrelevant. Insta Heals? No longer instant. Object of Obsession - actually helps the killer more than the survivor. Decisive Strike? Punishes survivors for playing the game. New Ruin? If you're good at being chased, all your progress is lost because a bad killer put on a perk. Makes the game miserable for solo survivors, but hey, you killer mains love SWFs, right? End Game Collapse literally gives you free kills, and you're all still asking for more. And even if the devs were biased towards survivors, hmm, quick math, they're the overwhelming majority of people who play the game. It would make a whole lot of sense to keep the majority of your player base happy, which is why I keep laughing at how the devs keep making the game worse for survivors, especially solo players.

I'm not disagreeing with you when it comes to solo survivor queing but that's only some games and it's some games at mid-low mmr.

Against SWF and higher ranked survivor players those experiences are entirely different. Put quite simply there is a large gap between very average survivor players and good survivor players and that gap is what causes alot of the issues I'm talking about.

I understand that solo queing as survivor is frustrating too because I've done it but I've also been on the end fo some games where we absolutely bullied the killer in both SWF and solo que which is literal proof of how the game is at higher ranks.

This is the first game I've seen where it seems to actively punish you for being a high ranked player as a killer because al it is all the time is stress and bad times. I do understand your point of view on solo queing, you aren't wrong but that's just not my experience at higher mmr on both survivor and killer end.
