Funny thing about this game.
Historically, the more killers get the nerfs they want, the less killers proportionally play the game.
This game used to be a lot tougher for killers, but back then there were too many killers and not enough survivors. Killers got all the nerfs they wanted. Brighter maps, brighter clothes, removal of palette vacuums, bloodlust, removal of most god loops, auto window blocking, Exhaustion nerf, Mettle nerf, BL nerf, DS nerf, another DS nerf, etc.
Yet somehow instead of improving the play experience for killers it actually made it worse.
Who knows why, but judging from the queues there are less and less killers playing the game compared to survivors.
So strictly speaking killers getting the nerfs they want might not actually be the right direction for this game.
Yeah I've never understood that. But killers being in a much better position than before might not be the cause of that, i refuse to believe that so many killers are masochists. I think one big cause is that as years pass a bigger playerbase has grinded everything they can, and killers get BPs much faster.
-
I wonder if that nerf to DS will make less survivors pick it and then the killer seein there's no obsession will tunnel more.
-
Suddently i don't care anymore about Undying nerf. I actually love it.
-
There's so many good ideas of good killers they could take from the scp universe.
-
I hardly see facecamping bubbas except on opened gates, but at that point you cant blame him.
-
The only bodyshaming I experienced is when that ######### claudette looped me for 10 minutes making the game hostage on an infinite bodyshaming loop in the swamps.
-
I heard of some killers that feel bad when they see that they are against new players and they let them have the hatch or stuff like that. I do the exact opposite, i try to make them depip so we don't ######### up the matchmaking even more and hopefully don't see each other until our skill level is similar.
-
The end game chat is the best thing of the game after you humiliate a cocky adversary. You really want to take those moments from us?
-
Oh no not again ;( Leave the traps RNG as they are! They are already good and you get consistently an average of 2.5 attempts to get rid of it per game. I don't know why you insist on saying that they are inconsistent, I really like how simple they are and don't want any conditions to either make them snowball out of control or remove the threat completly.
I agree with the buff to ambush, although instead of removing the charge warning i would make her crouch faster so she can use it more. And yeah, remove the blade sound completly, it's removes a lot of mindgame potential against decent survivors that just hold shift W when they hear it.
-
I guess it's a compromise between fast queue times and good matchmaking. I wish there was an option to tweak your preferences or something similar like some games have.
-
I was chasing dwight around the coal tower, he had resilience and ironwill and outplayed me a bit so he rested a moment to teabag now and then. He didn't notice the trap after a window, i came at him nodded and he insta DC'd. Oh and with pig if i feel like i have space I like to chase while crouched people with beartraps that taunted me before to make the timer keep going and make their heads explode. Oh and I want to add, do not tbag Deathslinger at exit gates under any circumstances, i think that's self explanatory but many people still don't understand it.

Yeah there's a lot of unskilled killers that apparently have never ever played survivor and don't know or care what it feels like to get singled out just so they can have a better game.
Lmao if you get hooked in the basement it's your own damn fault, don't loop the killer near basement if you don't want to ######### your teammates up, specially against good defensive killers.
-
You get punished for facecamping: 1 by losing the game if the survivors are not reckless and 2 because you gain no points and lose some for staying near hook.
-
I think i've never heard any serious complaint about BT
-
I allways laugh when i see people saying that "Hag is actually difficult to play". ######### when i want to play with my brain turned off i just play Hag since the only thing i have to do is trap chokepoints and predicted paths, i don't even have to take chases or try to mindgame survivors. Corrupt intervention, trap everything, secure 3 gen, another 4k with brain afk.
-
I don't see many blatant hackers but i don't know if lag-switchers could be considered as such, there are a LOT of them. They press the lag switch button when they are about to get hit and suddently you see them 10 meters away unharmed. There are a lot of cheaters but they are really subtle.
-
Moris only use now is to prevent cheap escapes from DS or some flashy save. I don't know why would you want to remove them especially when nobody uses them anymore.
-
I haven't noticed any difference. Just the occasional death threat and mountains of insults for not following survivor rule book or for doing gens too fast. When did you stop playing? I feel like it hasn't changed a bit at least for months.
-
I just wish they reversed his buff/nerf. It felt much better to play before, that slowdown everytime you want to use his ability sucks ass.

Well, I already mentioned it in another post, but the reason they barely balance is that they're making too much new content. They are constantly working on new killers, on new perks, on new maps. They just don't have time to balance.
Well that's just speculation that they don't have time (600 employees btw). I agree they should focus on balance rather than on new content but i genuinly don't feel like they are getting overworked unless they got spagetthi code, in wich case they better start working on DBD 2 with better design from the ground.

I also feel like it's 'not really smart' to assume the community doesn't do anything for a game. The community is the driving force behind balance changes, behind the entire game. Without the community, there is no game. Yes, every game has bitching, but this game really has an issue because of the inherent "Us vs Them" of an asymmetrical game.
So yeah, BHVR makes the changes, but they make the changes in regards to the community. Ruin was changed because it only impacted the low ranks of the community,
The only reason No Man's Sky was changed because of people. If nobody complained, I doubt it would've been changed.
I unironically think that this might be the problem, they shouldn't listen to the community because we don't even know what we want, the only thing we really want for the game is to be fun and balanced (and maybe not even that). We don't really know what is going to make it better and we are highly biased because we usually play one side more than the other, plus the people that make noise are a very small portion of the playerbase. They should use their data to balance the game and listen to some suggestions for inspiration. And do a lot more changes, they are sooo slow and feels like they are too scared to do big changes and more frequently.
-
When i play with friends Demo is probably the easiest killer to beat. We know were he is at all times, when he approaches we just leave and move to another gen and track his portals. He is not bad in chases but you can still loop him for a while. The fact that he gives so much info on what he's doing makes him bad imo. In soloq i guess he is ok but in my experience i never see them doing very good either.
-
Blaming a community for a game doing bad is not really smart. Every single online multiplayer game has communities with similar people playing them and they also have a lot of toxicity and bitching about game stuff. But at the end of the day it's the game's company that decides what is done and what isn't, and this community bitching more than others is not what is holding the game back, it's their incompetence for not improving the game the way they should. Just compare to other game companies with similar size (600 employees) and you'd be embarassed with the little they do.
We can't make any changes, Behaviour does. So it's entirely their fault what holds the game back. Just look for example how well they handled No Man's Sky sky disaster. They were probably one of the most hated game companies out there and they still managed to make a comeback.
-
I wish i could meet those internet warriors saying "omg you shouldn't fight fire with fire, you should just let them ######### you in the ass with no retaliation whatsoever!" irl, they would teach me a lot about morals and make me better as a person. But I'm afraid they don't exist and they are just that, internet warriors that pretend to be better but in reality they also ######### about stuff being unfair.

I never called anyone ignorant. These threads are just a regular occurrence, and while the actual list of stages isn't the most accurate (maybe I should've looked at the stages of acceptance, oops), the sentiment is true. My over-the-top comment was a reply to a previous humorous comment about the pointlessness of this thread, which is true, it is pointless, but it's a result of that "eureka!" moment and is seen a lot amongst players.
I do not share the OP's feelings that face-camping teabaggers is the way to go. Teabaggers want the killer to tunnel them, they want the attention. I ignore them, and they hate it. If/when they get hooked, I treat them like everyone else. I really don't think OP is interested in how other people handle survivors, though.
I've posted plenty of serious comments about improving DbD, but this thread isn't about changing the game. This is the kind of thread where people post silly comments and let off steam.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1909392#Comment_1909392
Step 1: Uninstall the game.
Steps 2-7: Doesn't matter, none of us ever get past step 1.
I mean, you kinda implied by the way you phrased it, or at least is what it seems to me. This man just suggested to fight fire with fire to try to disuade the other party from abusing game mechanics or just outright be toxic for no reason.
But anyways i understand that this was just a goofy meta comment of what happens in the forums more than anything else so nevermind.
-
They will ask for Devour nerf when they realize it's slightly viable with the nerfed undying.

He's on phase 2. Every killer goes through it.
- Care what survivors think.
- Survivors are mean! Fight back!
- Don't care what survivors think at all.
- Play for Bloodpoints.
- Wait, why am I still playing?
- I'm going to quit tomorrow, I swear it.
- None of this actually matters.
When everyone reaches step 7 so the game is nothing but screwing around and all forms of giving a crap disappear because people realize how pointless it really is, we'll all ascend to nirvana and experience true bliss for eternity.
Or something.
But seriously, every player seems to go through stages, and each time it's like "wow, I'm enlightened! I must tell the world!" Hey man, welcome to stage ___, let me check my watch to see when your next insight will hit.
Better to be an "enlightened ignorant" than a nihilist that can only contribute with sarcastic remarks with no intention to change the game.
-
If all survivors come at me just to save someone you can bet i'll slug. I mean, why the hell wouldn't I? Why would i risk getting blinded, sabotaged, bodyblocked... When survivors just run at me an I can down them super easy it's their fault, not mine. Just don't play the 4 together and you won't get slugged, or at least it won't be efficient.

This is a garbage claim.
Plenty of Red Rank Killers are on console. SpookNJukes runs this game on his PS4 without any issues and I see him nail Gunslinger shot after Gunslinger shot.
Quit blaming your equipment.
I hope you realize how stupid this argument sounds. Of course people with better tools are going to have an advantage over people with trash tools. Some people with bad tools being better than some people with good tools does not disprove the advantage that they have.
-
I actually like that people like you exist that have the patience to do that, this way maybe we see less keys.
-
If the exit gates are not open by the time he gets T3 then you are doing something wrong as a survivor.
-
Doubt. And i would bet that they are going to change how the cages work to make the hook related perks still work sadly.
-
Pls nerf pig she is op.
-
I main the piggy and the trap RNG is the least of my concerns, on average its 2.5 searches and since you have 4 traps your average box searches will be close to the 2.5 number most of the time, sometimes you even get a satisfying headpop if you mess a bit with the trapped survivor.
What i hate about her is her crouching time. I almost nerver crouch with pig because it takes a ######### eternity and if you want to make a rush you give out your position, wich makes it only usable on small pallet loops, very very niche. I think the needed change to pig is make her crouching the same as Ghostface and please remove the crouch/uncrouch knife sound wich also warns the survivors you are there.
She is not a stealth killer right now, she is just a game stalling m1 killer with potential to be a bit better in some loop and it's a bit sad :(

I think that the undying nerf is a good thing because with previous ruin undying, you're basically flipping a coin for ruin to be up for a very short time or have it last the entire game and I think this change will eliminate that problem where your totem is either cleansed at the start of the game or the end. In my opinion, the undying nerf will make the ruin undying combo less hated while also being strong and more consistent, and being able to keep tokens of perks like devour or lullaby after being cleansed is also a nice bonus.
Why would i run undying with ruin now tho? I better run pretty much any other strong hex with ruin and it would have more effect. Now it's only decent with hexes that scale in power over the game, haunted grounds/ruin is a much better option because at least haunted grounds has an effect.
-
I like how bubba is right now, and i rarely see facecamping bubbas unlike may people seem to in these forums. I'd expect facecamping bubbas to make a return when undying tho, it is really useful to incentivise him to run around to apply pressure to multiple survivors at once. Once ruin combo is broken he would have no competitive reason to go around and at the best thing he could do would be patrol hooks.
-
I like almost every change i've seen in this list, I wish the devs weren't scared to do a lot of tweaks on perks, addons, killers or even base game mechanics and almost everything posted in this list would be uncontroversial.
-
If I only played against Nurse/Spirit i would quit, but since I'm a terrible survivor this change would actually help me lol

- Mobility killers. We currently have 7 killers whom their main power is "ha ha killer go brrrrrrr", and it gets repetitive after a while.
- Stealth killers. We have enough variety, and any more would make them less special.
- Killers with no chase power. I can not tell you how boring matches against Wraith or Myers are because it's the same strat over and over again. I don't have to really think, I just loop and run tiles. Pretty boring.
- Ranged Killers. Nuff said.
A killer with chase power that is not stealthy, is not ranged and is not mobile? The only one in my mind that fits that description in the game is Doctor and maybe Clown, I wish they added more like them.
-
Hag's addons are some of my favourites. Except the purple and red ones all the rest are at least useful, at most really good. And please don't give her more speed, she is not a chase killer. I think Hag is one of the last killers i'd do a rework right now, a killer like her is soooo refreshing since it has a very unique gameplay that I hope stays as is.
Maybe remove the hability to put traps too close to hook and in return give her slightly faster base trapping speed or some quality of life stuff but honestly the biggest problem that i think has this killer has nothing to do with her, but with dedicated servers that make sometimes impossible to tp-instahit.

well there are different definitions here, yes you play against eachother....but like if I play a game against me 8 year old nephew....is that a competitive game? or do we know its os completely skewed we are just having fun?
because DBD is not even close to being anywhere near balanced, and it pretty much cant be without removing 90% of the content, so in that sense its hardly a Counter Strike or Starcraft or whatever.
Well maybe you should look in the dictionary the definition of competition. Monopoly is a game that you play with 8 year nephew old and is a competitive game.
-
I have 600mb of down/up speed and many times survivors tell me that they see me lagigng and i'm not using any vpn. I just assume that servers are broken and not that people use vpns at this point.

that does not make any sense at all, what you are even trying to imply here?
Because he says that DBD is not a competitive game when it clearly is and i've been trying to win when I shouldn't.
-
@BioX said:
you know what is even more effective at "winning" a match? using cheats.
But somehow that will probably go too far even for you, must be within the game's rules or whatever.
Point is, tunneling is just weak af, and in a game as silly is this, playing purely to "win" when you know such a silly tactic is like taking candy from a baby, hence directly deminishing the value of said "win", is...to use your own words, pathetic.
And to this part "just about people insulting over using the best you can to win." like...how can you not see how extremely sad that is? to use everything in your power to give you the edge, how....insecure? idk even how to call it, again the value of doing well is directly connected to the effort it takes, if you give yourself every advantage....then what is that "win" worth?
Now how about you start playing some matches without bringing items or add ons? now suddenly if you do well its much more satisfying and earned, its you doing well, not some item or add on.
but I feel im talking to a wall here, but yeah I have zero respect for "gamers...." like that, its boring, challenge yourself damn it.
You seem to make such a big drama over someone just enjoying to win video games. Keep talking to that wall then maybe one day it will respond back.
-
@MadLordJack said:
Tunneling is only effective against chill teams that you could have 4k'd anyway (your job is to kill everyone, not one person), and genrushing is just plain unfair and unfun for everyone involved. It's like putting the difficulty in the game down to "beginner." Small wonder why people hate it.
Plus, especially with tunneling since that's something that can be done by yourself, you know it's hated and makes people miserable and you still do it. Hmm. I wonder why people get mad?
Then again, you clearly are bringing a competitive mindset into a noncompetitive game.
Damn I thought a game that has 2 teams playing against each other was a competitive game but i guess i've been playing Barbie World Adventures while murdering the unicorns all along.

@MeltingPenguins said:
Same reason people hate Deathslinger:
Hag's a killer who takes away control of chases etc from the survivors, and generally meddles with the 'engage the killer in a chase and keep them busy while gens get done' tactic you see all too commonly.
I can understand hag taking chases away from survivors but i've never understood how this applies to deathslinger. Yes, dodging his spear might be a 50/50 but once you are injured even if you are speared you can play around predropping pallets so he can't finish you off even if he catches you.
-
Because survivors want to get chased, hag doesn't chase if she wants to win. And it's very map dependant imo, in some maps she is god, in some maps she struggles a lot so sometimes makes survivors feel helpless and other times they are bored.
It's a fun killer to play and i even like playing against her in moderation because of how much you have to change your playstyle. I would not let survivor's opinion influence you wether you play her or not; if you like Hag, play Hag.
-
@savevatznick said:
Basekit let him carry two traps.
Implement some kind of penalty - hindered or deepwound (everyone hates deepwound) for injured survivors who step in traps.
Boom. Trapper fixed.
It is so easy to make such an uncontroversial fix like this and yet they don't do nothing, same with many other killers and perks.

@EvanSnowWolf said:
Normally I defend Killers, but in this case I need to point out a lot of Survivor perks have requirements. Just a few examples include:
Inner Strength (Totem)
We're Gonna Live Forever (Various)
Deliverance (Unhook)
Detective's Hunch (Generator Completion)
But all these perks you mentioned are balanced around their requirements, i feel like they are justified. Now compare to for example Dragons Grip to activate: Survivor needs to touch a gen that was kicked by the killer max 30 sec ago plus it has 80 seconds cooldown. They seem to stack requirement over requirement for perks these days. Without mentioning all the hex totems that have multiple conditions, on top of being a hex perk.
I feel they could remove some requirements from many killer perks and they would still not be viable at all, like they create perks to be just as strong as survivor ones and not 4 times stronger as they should.
