I do not like pop with Ruin because kicking the gen is too difficult unless they were JUST on it. I kind of run Ruin specifically so I don't have to kick gens anyway.

The point of a build like that is to have something for late game when ruin is gone. If ruin stays up all game with a mobile killer you should have no issues. Usually good teams will get rid of ruin with 2 or 3 gens left to make the late game easier, that is where pop comes in.

Chase based powers are fine. Powers that remove survivor skill and have no valid counters aren't fine lol.

Most people hate chase powers. People complain about everything from PH to deathslinger. All chase based powers have to remove some options in a chase (thus reducing survivor skill as you would say) or else it is not be a chase power.

Think? Lol chaining tiles and winning mind games is thinking.

Nurse and spirit have NO counterplay. You just guess and die. Literally easy mode for killer. Especially with 3 slowdowns like most artificial high ranks use to carry themselves.

They are incredibly unfun to play against because all survivor skill is irrelevant. You will go down in a chase unless they suck. There is no counterplay but stealth and genrush which isn't fun for both sides.

You clearly don't play survivor and sound deranged. Killer is so easy right now its boring for me. Killer mains make me ashamed to be a killer main. Such a entitled group who want free wins every game and hate the idea of losing to more skilled or experienced players. Or the dreaded idea of both sides having fun. We're done here.

Most loops dont require much skill to loop, especially if you can see over them. The problem with the balance of this game is if the killer can't end chases quickly they can't apply pressure and gens go to fast. So they have to give killers good chase powers or great mobility powers (the best killers can do both). So if we dont just want 20 plus killers with different mobility based powers the devs have to develop chase based killers.

Also, every killer (even spirit) has some counterplay. Spirit and nurse have less counterplay but survivor and killer skill matter a lot even when playing these killers, as well as a general ability to read how good your opponent is and mind game them accordingly. Killers literally have to quickly read how good a survivor is in order to know how to properly mind-game them (while also remembering this for 4 players), so I dont think it unreasonable to ask survivors to do the same.

In the end, if the devs want to weaken all of the chase based powers without also making every killer feel identical with slightly different mobility powers then they would have to drastically raise the objective time for survivors. This could be done by creating additional objectives, but just adding time to gens is going to piss people off. If this happens instead of ending chases quickly good killers will just leave chases after destroying a few resources to go catch people near a growing deadzone around objectives, which is also unfun since as you pointed out the fun part of the game is the chase/looping.

  • Adrenaline is one of the best perks in the game so it is fine. All the others could use a buff or changes, though hope could quickly get broken if they make it too good.

I honestly would like to see more buffs to end games perks in general. For instance, I would love if bloodwarden would trigger on the 1st hook after all gens are done, even if the doors are still closed. And the timer would only start after the gates are open (this would discourage 99% them).

End game is a very small but potentially intense part of the match so having good perks on both sides that work with it just makes it more fun in my opinion. Survivor honestly need a wider variety of end game perks as well.

  • Ran into a duo who both had subtle hacks. They would turn on speed hacks when out of line of sight and had access to perks that do not go together (had one dead hard after using sprint burst with only sprint burst in their build).

Also, they seemed to be lag switching as I would get a giant lag spike anytime I approached them, or when they tried to do something sketchy. Made it difficult to tell until I clearly saw the dead hard.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/264071/last-chapter-proved-that-console-also-needs-a-ptb

They did test it on Console.

They had a Known Issues section on the bottom of the Patch Notes for 5.0.0 that specified issues with Xbox/PS

They tested it and decided it was acceptable

I can't decide if that is worse than not knowing about the issues at all. On one hand, they knowingly release a broken product, but on the other they are too incompetent to realize the product was faulty beforehand.

  • Console should have a PTB but behavior shouldn't be using the PTB for major bugs anyway. It should be for minor bugs, extremely rare bugs, and balance checks before a release. Major bugs on all platforms should be caught by their testing team.

Console should get the PTB to help check for balance on console as well, but the main issue is behavior should not be depending on their players to find major bugs for them. They need to be able to do that themselves.

but it's being updated graphically constantly, how much can last gen hold?

Based on games that are way my graphically intensive like apex, RDR2, overwatch etc..., and still work perfectly a lot. Behavior needs to learn how to code because the more crap they add to the game the worse the issues get on all platforms, meaning it has something to do with the system not properly processing only needed information. Eventually this will effect new gens and even high end pcs.

This is what’s grinding my gears currently. People keep saying performance on console is terrible. It isn’t. It’s just on old consoles. Even older PCs. New consoles are working just fine. Higher end PCs are working just fine.

people want the game to be better, devs work on improving the game, older consoles/PCs can’t handle it - people are going to be unhappy. There’s a delicate balance they need to find and it’s going to take time. Unfortunately, there isn’t much patience at the moment because there were so many bugs and issues that happened all at once.

That fact that other more demanding single and multi-player games work just fine on the same hardware makes your point invalid.

Also, if the devs know it wont work and they cant fix it, then they need to discontinue selling it on older consoles and refund money for at least the most recent dlc, since it was never playable. Otherwise people need to stay on the devs to fix it because if they don't they are blatantly selling a broken product and defrauding thousands of people.

  • I like the potential but it needs to be more specific. Do killers get an add-on equal in rarity to all item rarities? Is it random? Do the add-ons on the item matter? Do items left in chests matter? Etc...

Could be a cool idea but might have to be if 4 items are left on the group or if a certain level of rarity of item is left.

  • Playing survivor and acting as gen jockey/stealth expert. Hold w in chases except for very safe loops to maximize time.

    Dont play killer currently.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

I always see people hating on it when in reality, would you rather go against a lithe,Sprint burst, balanced, or even smashhit over deadhard? Those other perks are wayyyy more annoying than deadhard and I'd rather go against a team of full deadhard over those anyday

I would much rather go against any of those other perks, though sprint burst can also be very good for survivors. My main issue is the way the perk works and the fact that it always causes frame-drops and lag when survivors use it.

I recently saw that you could modify your PS4 card by an SSD which will boost the console, but it's unfair to have to pay $ 100 so that the problem comes from the games, what should I do? thank you

I wouldnt recommend it. While most people on Ps5 are not having issues, there have been some reported issues on them as well. The way DBD is going the issues seem to just be getting worse with each patch/over time so it probably wont change much and will only serve as a brief bandaid fix if it does.

Honestly put that 100 dollars towards other games or saving up to upgrade your entire set-up with a Ps5 or PC. Either one of these is probably a better long-term investment.

On console all the killers freeze up using their powers at the moment, I've leveled most of them to 50 this week so trust me, nemesis can't possibly be any worse.

    #pray4consoles

I can promise you Nemesis is much worse than all the other killers at least in my experience on Ps4. I would strongly discourage buying him until they resolve the issues cause Sony will not refund the dlc once it is downloaded.

If you are going to buy something with the game in this state I would say pig. Fun with 2 good perks. Oni can be purchased for free with shards so just grind him.

  • The MMR system is supposed to fix since you will have an individual MMR on each killer. However, who knows when that will come out.

    Tips with pig:

1.she is a weaker killer so take the advantages you need.

    2. Always use your traps when someone is down (really good pig mains know when to use them but just using them is a good place to start).

    3. Her best add-ons are generally the ones that make boxes take longer to search or tampered timer (imo), but she has a lot of unique ones so be creative.

    4. Avoid chasing people with active traps but most people with traps are predictable and will go straight to the closest box when they believe you left them. Use this to get close and get a free down and additional hook state.

    5. She can make good use of perks like whispers or lethal pursuer to find survivors early and sneak up with her crouch to get them before the first gen finishes. Whispers can also be used to verify if someone might be on a jigsaw box.

    6. Her dash is underrated but most people are bad with it (including me); work on it in games once you know you are going to win or practice with friends.

    7. Turn off chat so you can ignore the ######### things other people say. People are ######### so dont let it get to you.

  • While the actual event itself is just whatever, not really terrible, it is a rehash of last year that came with its own bugs on top of the RE chapter. Honestly just including the RE chapter moves it to terrible.

  • There is actually a spot where you can blink down next to the basement and see the underside of the map like this. I found it out while streaming the map in customs looking for glitch spots; I found 4.

I wonder if the basement does not spawn there if that might cause the glitch.

  • I mean if I brought the mori I would want to use it. I would be calling out your teammates for dcing during the event.

I wasnt saying they were. I didnt watch the video so I dont know one way or the other. I was just replying to your comment that you dont know all the things your team is doing. I run perks like that in solo specifically so I know what my team is doing. This allows me to know what I need to do.

No, the notion was that I'd heard many people claim that DbD would be better off under a different development team before.

I dont know if they would be better under a different development team, but I can definitely say that it seems their priorities are in the wrong place. They seem to care more about pushing out new content than making sure that content actually works.

At the very least they need to hire outside help to come in and help them work on their code/optimization cause at this point they have shown an inability to fix these issues.

  • @offwhiteknight said:

You know the one that gets unhooked with Borrowed Time, then gets between the killer and the survivor that did the unhooking and then complains that they got tunneled. Your "big brain" strategy is an invitation to the killer to tunnel you even if they were not going to initially. If you do this you deserve to be tunneled. When I play killer I will happily tunnel you in this situation and re-hook you.

Now, I've been accused of being a survivor main on this forum before, does this now make me a killer main?

Yes! I had a survivor do this to me to me even after I ignored him to hit his teammate; he stepped in front of me with like 5 secs of bt left. I waited it out, downed him, and chose to eat ds, but he didnt even have it. After the game, I got several messages accusing me of tunneling. We came to an understanding and parted ways, but he was very insistent I tunneled.

I am currently working on turning this and some other recent salty clips I got into a YouTube video.

Not unless people mass report it. Sony wont even give refunds for the newest DLC once it is downloaded, tried to get one yesterday, unless the publisher sends them notice it is faulty. I made a suggestion in a comment on another post replying to at @MandyTalk that the devs should send this notice so people can get refunds if they desire.

All-kill was also broken. It had the no stun bug, which was patched, except it wasn't until they did it twice.

That is true, but I was more referring to completely game destroying bugs/performance issues, like freezing or the twins getting stuck in the map for the entire match. The no stun bug is a big deal that they should have caught with minimal testing, but at least matches could still mostly be played.

You bring up an interesting point. I assumed optimization fixes would benefit all platforms, is that not true? Is making something smoother on an Xbox possibly detrimental to a PC? We can't have one platform fix hurting another, that'd be a never ending vicious cycle of misery.

Ok what would you suggest they do? Altogether the consoles are the larger playerbase now, and something like 80-85% of those on Xbox or PS are still on the proir gen machines. Cost and availability will likely keep us stuck there for who knows how long, as does lack of Cross Progression.

    What can they do?

They need to have different code to optimize the game for each. You simply shouldn't assume that what works on pc will work on console or vis versa. You shouldn't even assume that what works on xbox will work on PlayStation, etc...

They clearly do not test enough and are very reliant in the PTB for issues, which honestly should be used for balance analysis and minor bug issues not to catch major issues. This is a big problem when the PTB is only on one platform and they cant seem to optimize for one without breaking others.

Q1: If they would have known the cause of the issue, be sure it would have been fixed. They know the issue, but right now, if I ask you to tell me why it crashes and what needs to be repaired, can you tell me? Probably not, because you would have to investigate, and if you can't find the source, you can't repair anything. (If your car isn't starting, you now the issue, but in order to fix it, you have to know why it isn't starting)

Q2: Valid feelings? Yes, of course. No one says they shouldn't be upset. But they also shouldn't trash down the company because they aren't able to find the source of the issue.

At this people are well within what is right to trash on the company. They clearly dont test enough or do it correctly to properly avoid bugs and huge issues. If this was the first major issue then people would be overreacting and it would be wise to give them time. At this point, two of the last 3 chapters, twins and Nemesis, have in large part broken the game. If they can't handle the content cycle and put out a good product then slow down production or higher more people, that is what a good company would do.

Whilst I completely understand your frustration - we have acknowledged the performance issues and advised that it's being worked on. It's not something that's being ignored. Sadly, it's not an easy fix and whilst small fixes have been implemented up to know (including today's hotfix which should have resolved the "out of memory" issue), we are aware that other fixes need to be done and the team is working on these.

How about until the issues are resolved have the devs send a message to Sony, Microsoft, etc... letting them know the new update/DLC/add-on is faulty and to give refunds.

I just tried to request a refund for the new DLC from Sony and they said because it had been downloaded I could not get a refund unless the publisher sent them a letter listing the DLC as faulty. Show you believe the issues will be fixed by allowing refunds and I'm sure people will buy the DLC again when it is functional.

This would show you are listening and truly believe you can resolve the issues. Many issues have been around for so long that people are not going to take you seriously otherwise.

I dont think this is a good idea tbh.

The only way to get rid of Zombies is by wasting a pallet, or constantly blinding them, problem is, i already dealt with a zombie being a massive pain in the ass when trying to repair a gen or even healing a teammate, adding such a large amount would make the game borderline unplayable for survivors, cause having a single zombie near any objective makes it practically impossible to complete it without wasting resources or just a huge amount of time, pretty much forcing you out of it to look for another one and thats without counting Nemesis itself.

If there was anything close to 8, repairing gens would be extremely hard, combine that with Perks like Ruin or Tinkerer, and you will have the most BS killer in the game by a long shot.

The game would basically become survive the longest and get hatch cause repairing a gen is guarantee to get you killed with little to no payoff.

I see your point, but with how slow zombies are, how much they get stuck, and how much time they spend on the opposite sides of big maps there definitely needs to be more.

When I was saying 8, I was only referring to the largest outdoor maps, something like mother's dwelling, which are so big that 2 or even 4 zombies are almost always going to be in areas that are not near survivors and not near Nemesis so he can hit them. I think 4 would be fine for most maps.

  • @Zokenay said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2317566#Comment_2317566

That has more to do with the zombies AI not being that good (which isnt surprising since they are the first one)

Regardless, its not something to take lightly, cause Nemesis is already heavily oppressive on 1vs1, adding too many zombies, would make him way too strong since you have Nemesis which is strong on 1vs1 and then the zombies wasting time for the rest of the team, like is said, they can be a massive pain when trying to do objectives.

All good points. The Ai definitely needs work and it is hard to say how many we need until we see what the final Ai is like. I am making my estimation based on the current crappy Ai.

  • Most games that have a massive grind do so to get you to pay to reduce that grind or to keep people playing. DBD has no way to pay to reduce grind, so it seems like the devs think the grind is necessary to keep people playing (or they are using it to help compensate for gameplay that can get repetitive since there is only 1 game mode).

However, I actually think they are shooting themselves in the foot by discouraging more new players with the massive grind. They could pretty easily reduce it without much effort, getting rid of perk tiers would do away with most of it, so it seems like it is intentional that they aren't reducing it.

  • He needs like 4 minimum with up to 8 on large maps but this game cant handle that. Some people were saying that they wanted to have 4 base but the game couldnt handle it, while I cannot guarantee this is true it would not surprise me.

How about apex legends which has run great on consoles since it came out with a multitude of abilities, more players per match, and better graphics. In the end, there r almost endless examples of games that run better than dbd on both console and pc so arguing they couldn't optimize it is just implying they are incompetent.

Also, you can see the poor quality of design in the long load times dbd needs, which is an issue even on the highest end pc.

I’m so bored of using this nonsense excuse every time someone is trying to justify playing survivor being easy, or that holding w is toxic. The truth is killers hold w just as much, if not more than survivors.

Most killers simply run after survivors, almost never doing any mind game, other than maybe at shack. If survivors are getting enough distance on you to hold w, they’re either playing bad getting off gens constantly, or you’ve misplayed a chase. In my experience, survivors perform much more mind games in chase compared to killers, so to say most survivors, even at red ranks are w key holders is a complete fabrication of reality. I don’t think we should be calling survivor easy when Spirit, Freddy, Wraith and Bubba are in the game!

Actually I would argue that leaving a gen early and forcing the killer to commit to chasing you over a longer distance or leave u is the most effective strategy survivors have. Its why spine chill is so good against stealth killers. Killers cannot be in multiple places at once and regression is so slow even if they kick a gen that they basically wasted all their time coming to that gen in the first place, unless they are a highly mobile killer like nurse or oni in his power.

  • Lot of frame drops still on Ps4 with multi second freezes occasionally. He is better than he was cause now u can at least use his power half the time without drops. The issues are pretty much on all killers for me though so it seems like just more ######### up optimization overall

  • If it is automatically taking up a perk slot then whatever, I run into it a ton anyway. If not then hell no. Survivors do not need the ability to run a 5th meta perk.

Also this would eliminate all other exhaustion perks, which would suck as someone who runs lithe all the time.

And this is coming from a killer main. Killers that choose to tunnel should be punished, not just mildly inconvenienced.

Other suggestion: using decisive should heal the stunner to healthy, instead of staying injured.

Honestly giving survivors a free health state is an awful idea. Survivors with ds will just stay around the killer and try to get downed and picked up for the added benefit of a quick heal. Add unbreakable and survivors can just body-block without fear cause it is actually in their benefit to get picked up again. It will also lead to a lot more slug fests where a killer slugs survivors for minutes on end to avoid giving them a huge benefit.

A longer stun duration also does not seem necessary as I think the perk is fine where it is at, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
