I mean, If you get 4K while camping your not passive, your being defensive.

you would only be passive in camping if no one take the bait, in that case you don't 4k, you 1k.

Just to be clear, im not for camper piping up, im just showing you you got a bias.

No you are being passive. Defensive playstyles are by their very nature passive. Camping in an FPS is a very passive way to play. You just wait for the enemy and ambush them. Very little effort for a very high reward. If the other side camps too then you get a never ending game (or one that goes to time) because neither side is willing to actively win.

There is no bias. If either side wants to pip they have to be active. Hence why I gave a perfect example of a passive survivor. Does nothing but still escapes = black pip (depip at red ranks). If I was bias I would be sitting here saying this survivor deserves to pip while the camping killer doesn't.

Also my original comment was how killers seem to correlate BP with performance when majority of killers get tons of BP just for existing in the game.

If I consistently win/lose matches because of one thing in particular, then I definitely have a reason to complain. And, like it or not, if people didn't complain about stuff the Devs would just assume the game is fine and not ever touch it again. The more something is complained about, the larger the issue.

That being said, it would be nice if people didn't immediately post their opinions whilst being tilted from a bad experience. A little perspective and a cool head is nice. And it would be especially nice if people didn't create fake accounts/bait posts/just straight up troll people trying to have an actual discussion. But that's just the nature of being online, I guess.

"If I consistently win/lose matches because of one thing in particular, then I definitely have a reason to complain."

You could also, you know, analyze what you did wrong and find ways to do it better next time. Or find a tactic that would beat whatever it is that you keep losing to.

So let me quote you on this ''So they did their objectives and ranked up for it?''

your kinda bias, Survivor doing 1/3 of their objectives and who die on first hook should rank up,

Killer doing their full objective but in a extremly cheap way don't deserve to rank up.

It almost as if your okay for one side to get a pip up in a cheap and easy way, but the other side should'nt be able to do the same

Difference is survivor are active in doing their objectives. A killer that puts someone on a hook and waits is being passive.

That's like saying a survivor that hides all game and just runs out the door should be rewarded. Nah, they would depip for that too if they never touched a gen, totem, or made a save.

I'll get my money back, but I won't get my time back.

As I said, time is also a valuable commodity. My time is finite, and the last thing I want to do is pay $10 to then have to dedicate the next two months of my schedule solely to DBD or I lose out on the value of my money.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1249437#Comment_1249437

You must have missed the part where I said I would rather just buy the cosmetics for $10 without having to grind for them, or I would actually be more willing to buy the Rift if they didn't fill 1/3rd of the Rift with filler auric cells and duplicate charms nobody cares about.

When I tried to do the first Rift (the free track), it took me around 290 hours to do. I completed every challenge but 4 of them, we had 11 extra days on that Rift, and that Rift didn't require me owning any DLC. It also allowed me to play Claudette, the survivor I main, and Trapper, who while not my favorite, I was playing a lot of recently and enjoying him.

That Rift offered me the best chance pretty much possible, and I still barely completed it despite playing 4 hours a day with an extra 11 day head start.

Completing the Rift was such a miserable experience that it burnt me out of playing DBD for 3 entire months and has left burn scars that I still feel to this day. I went from playing DBD an hour or two a day to maybe like, 10 hours a month on average since then.

As I said before, I value both my time and money. Spending 4~5 hours a day playing DBD for the next 2 months is not something I want to do. I have other things I both want and need to do. I cannot dedicate that much free time to DBD and I am not going to burn myself out doing the Rift again until they wake up and fix the ridiculous amount of grind needed. I don't even play 10 games worth of DBD a week anymore.

Many people do not have time to spend 4 hours a day to a game. Therefore, if they want to complete the rift, throwing more money at it is no longer an "option". It's a necessity. Unless of course, they don't want the cosmetic they were working for anymore. Ah, but that's when the whole "player investment" comes in. People who invested 200 hours and are so close are not very often just going to give up. They'll very likely to put in that extra amount of money in, because they are invested in the Rift. And that's how they get you. And the whole "I could get my money back!" aspect makes people far more likely to try and attempt it because of the possibility while giving the illusion that the system is fair, when in reality, it's designed that the vast majority of people who attempt the Rift do not have the free time to be able to complete it and unfortunately, even with the option of being able to buy the premium track at any time (which I do vastly approve of, by the way), many people still impulse buy the premium track anyways because they want those rewards unlocked and they want them now.

Hell, I've seen streamers who play this game as their job struggle with completing the Rift on time. The amount of time and grind required is immense.

I would also be much more inclined to throw cash at them if they actually did things like add a god damn options menu after four years and fix the fifty-dozen bugs that are still present in the game after years despite constantly being reported on. Throwing cosmetics under a shady system that I have to pay for and then work like it's a part time job for, despite purchasing the items in the first place is simply not a very good way to get money from me. The way you get money from me is when you deliver a good, functioning working service and that's not something BHVR has delivered. The game gets more and more broken and unoptimized with each and every patch.

I'm not going to support a monetization system I despise and I'm not going to support a game that's literally falling apart at the seams and they apparently refuse to try to fix it by adding a basic quality of life feature like a proper options menu which every game in the past two decades has had. I bought Ghost Face and Myers and yet I haven't played them both since dedicated servers went live because their stalking (and Ghost Face's detection) is so broken that it's borderline unplayable the majority of the time and sometimes their power literally does not work.

Okay then don't buy it. There are PLENTY of cosmetics you can just buy in the store.

You entire posts reads as someone who is just bitter and looking for something to hate, no other way to say it.

Saying it took you 290 hours seems like a big stretch. If you are doing challenges it shouldn't take you nearly that long. I played maybe 10 hours so far, did every survivor challenge and most killer challenges. I'm at tier 10, almost to 11. Once I finish up I will be at tier 15 easily. In about 12 hours of playtime. Extrapolate that and you get about 60 hours. Let's be liberal and say I "struggle" with the Rift, so it took 100. Sorry but I can't believe you when you say 290 hours. That is such a massive exaggeration. You are basically saying it took you 4 hours to go up 1 tier. If you are playing killer you should go up 1 tier in about an hour on just XP alone, which is 70 hours, pretty close to my original estimate. This doesn't even factor the boosts from challenges.

Also pretty much every streamer I've seen outright buys the entire Rift day 1. Puppers, Monto, True, all the big ones do this. So the only way your statement could be true is if they were a little streamer that plays a few hours each week (which probably means that while streaming is their job, playing DBD is not explicitly their job). Because again, it doesn't take THAT long to get everything. I have friends right now that are already around tier 20 on the Rift, they didn't pay for a single thing. Not streamers either, they just play the game a lot.

If your not playing the game much, why are you here complaining? Obviously the Rift is not for you, it's for the people that dedicate a lot of time to playing the game already. Again you have an entire store full of cosmetics, why do you care about the Rift cosmetics?

"I'm not going to support a monetization system I despise"

Then don't. But don't try to ######### on other people's parade either.

Also your last part about Myers/GF is also a massive exaggeration. They are far from unplayable right now. They have some quirks but as someone that plays GF regularly I can tell you are just blowing smoke.

  • I'd rather deal with loopers, at least then the game has some action. When survivors just hide you spend 20 minutes looking for them and it's boring AF.

Also LOL what @ you can't be good at hiding and looping?

''Meaning you didn't really go looking for survivors or chase them.''

Do I have to explain how camp work to you? the whole point of it is baiting survivor near the hook to down them, Yea if I camp I won't go looking for survivor, im making them come to me. if they don't come I wont 4k because guess what, they will gen rush out cause they know how to deal with camp.

Yea if I camp I won't chase survivor, the whole point is that if I start a chase I wont be camping anymore.

your chase emblem point drain down fast if you stay near hook.

The fact that survivor will try to swarm you mean you will lose point in Malicious cause you wont chase them that much whitout going to far from hook.

You get devout cause you hooked people

Gatekeeper gonna be bad cause you don't care about gens when your defending hook.

If you manage to 4k and pip while camping, My bet is your cheating in some way since you somehow able to win chase while protecting hook while not being close to hook while stopping generators,

That or your a god at freddy who had incredible hook spawn near generators...

You literally just explained why you don't deserve to rank up if you camp. SMH

  • If they just change the color pallet to have brighter greens it would be fine. They picked the darkest black green you could possibly pick though.

FYI the human eye can detect more shades of green than any other color. It's why "night vision" goggles are green. So all they need to do is pick a different green that isn't so dark and the problem would go away.

Sadly with challenges like "get 2 safe unhooks" it just doesn't work if the killer chases you down first (even if you deliver him a 3 minute chase meal) and then moris you after that first hook - i literally took 4 games to get that challenge done because killers were DETERMINED to hook and mori me first.

Bond and just hide. Wait for them to find someone else.

Strange the kilelr did his objectif, he killer 4 person.

See we both can bring up bullshit if we want.

Dude you have to camp PRETTY HARD to not pip and still get a 4k. Meaning you didn't really go looking for survivors or chase them.

But it is unethical. I already explained why.

The only defense you've had on why it's ethical was "Identity V is worse" and "It's $10", which, I'm sorry, that's not how it works.

It's less unethical than most battle passes, like Smite's, which strongly encourages you to buy the paid track as soon as possible rather than letting you buy it whenever in the season like DBD does, but "is less unethical" isn't the same as "is not unethical".

Again, I'd prefer to just spend the $10 without having to dedicate 2 months worth of grinding for it with a time limit breathing over my neck or my money goes to waste. I just don't see how that's as ethical as just letting people buy said cosmetics from the store.

What is unethical about asking for $10 that allows for the developers to continue support for their product?

The money has to come from somewhere dude. They can't just keep supporting DBD for free. The acquisition rate of new players isn't enough to sustain the growth of a company of 600+ employees.

Add up all the content on the Rift and you would easily pay probably $100 or more. Maybe if you had to pay $10 every Rift you'd have a point, but if you play the game a lot you get your money back. It doesn't even take that much time. Rift is open for something like 90 days, there are 70 tiers. You're telling me you can't play enough to do 1 tier a day on just XP alone? That's like 10 games as killer maybe. Aren't you a killer main? It's been 4 days I'm on tier 11 with challenges still left to do, and this from only playing actually 2 days of those 4. ######### if you play for an hour every other day then a few extra hours on weekends you could easily do 10 tiers a week. Which you only need to complete 6 or 7 tiers a week to finish in time.

Plus you know, you can just pay $70 ($80 the first time) to unlock all the tiers right away. That's what you were asking for right? To just have the option to buy the stuff outright and not commit the time? You can do that.

I really don't get these complaints. Again, money to pay the developers gotta come from somewhere. And no, the way DBD does it is NO WAY the same as Identity V or other games like that. This is actually very consumer friendly. You have multiple options.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1244224#Comment_1244224

$10 can be a lot of money for a lot of people.

Money has different value for everyone. $10 may not be a lot of money to you, but for me and a lot of other people, it can be the difference between being able to eat tomorrow or not.

More specifically I'm not going to buy the premium track, because I think battlepasses are very anti consumer. They are designed to manipulate people to not only spend more money, but to invest a ridiculous amount of time into a game as well, and I refuse to support that, much less so in a game that's not even free to play.

While I won't tell you what to do with your money, if you complete the Rift you get your money back, which you can then spend on the next Rift and so on.

I paid for the first Rift and have not had to pay again since. If you play the game a lot it's worth the investment IMO.

    @Cardgrey said:

idk ive only bought one and working on #3 seems ok to me considering im earning my cells back

Yea exactly. I've already completed all the survivor challenges and most of the killer challenges and I'm on tier 10 or so. I could easily get to 15 with the rest, and low 20's by the time the next part comes out.

  • I got stuck after being pulled of a hook one game.

And as killer twice I got stuck after being pallet stunned. Thankfully if you break the pallet it goes away but it's annoying AF.

  • To be entirely frank, if you just aim to get your challenge and nothing else you could do it and still probably depip in the process. Just over commit to it, you will probably still die fast but at least you got the challenge done. The only ones that might be tough are Dwight's, as one requires you to do 2 gens as Dwight in 1 game and another requires you to escape AFTER someone else escapes when you have Bond.

That said, I doubt it will change your experience. I always notice that purple and green rank killers are WAY more toxic when it comes to mori and stuff. Red rank killers are usually just very good is all. Their not purposely trying to be toxic but will do what they gotta do to win. Purple/green rank killers will purposely be super toxic just to spite survivors.

Could also try to find a group and play some SWF together, increase your chances a bit.

So they did their objectives and ranked up for it?

    Strange.

  • I do. But she is an exception not the rule.

Play Legion, Doc, or Freddy and you should hit 25k every game, kills or not.

Play Billy, Spirit, Trapper, or Hag and you gets point just for using your power.

Wow, thanks for this constructive criticism and advice, I'll defiantly start doing gens when not being chased, unhooking and healing people when they are injured or get hooked, and running the killer when getting chased. I never would have thought to try that without your sage advice oh great and wise one, now I will have the knowledge to finally overcome my obstacle and its all thanks to your grand advice.

But seriously though to everyone who actually offered some helpful advice in this thread thanks, I was mostly venting some frustrations with the game but I honestly really appreciate your tips and advice especially when compared to all the useless shite like this guys post.

I mean that's literally all you have to do to get a pip. If you are having trouble the obviously you are doing something wrong, because I could pip in my sleep at rank 1 doing exactly what I just listed off.

I believe the best way to have a true ranking system is to pair people with similar winrates. 😋

The problem is what constitutes "win rate"? Because you can play amazing all game and still die for a dumb reason, or get screwed over by another survivor and die, or conversely you can do NOTHING and still escape through the hatch or gate once the killer closes the hatch. And for killers getting kills is easier depending on which killer you are playing. You could have a 90% "win rate" as Nurse but only a 50% as Bubba or Clown. Does that mean you have a 70% average win rate? Technically, but again you are playing as different killers. So if the game matches you based on 70% win rate and you play Nurse or Bubba you are playing outside your intended matchmaking zone.

Truth is there will never be a great matchmaking system for DBD. It's just impossible to compare skill when both sides are inherently different on the most fundamental levels. The only complaint I honestly have is when the game puts me, a rank 1 survivor with 3k hours, against a rank 20 killer that just bought the game. THAT is ridiculous and shouldn't happen (nor should I be getting rank 18 survivors as a rank 1 killer). But if they are red ranks then they have to at least understand how to play the game enough to score emblem points, which means they are most likely going to be close enough to my skill that it's a fair game.

  • @FalseMod said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1244665#Comment_1244665

The actions listed here (minus the survive) will take roughly 180 seconds or three mins to preform, this is not factoring in the killer or map traversal times in any way. the average length of matches I've been playing in take roughly ten mins each. factoring in reacting to the killer's influence, time spent on hook, time spent waiting for the opportunity to preform an action, and map traversal as well as match progression objectives IE doing more gens because your team are all SWF suicide rushing their hooked friend etc. does not often leave much time to complete this list in my experience. and that is only when you don't get one hooked, Mori-ed, tunneled at the start of the match, abandoned, or given suiciding teammates which drastically shorten the match.

so I have to disagree with you at least in my experience.

You have PLENTY of time to do these things. I pip consistently at rank 1 sometimes without even trying.

When the game starts just rush a gen. If you get found you get chased, if not you finish a gen. By the time you finish someone will have been caught. Go save them and heal them off the hook. Now either go do a gen if you were chased first or go find the killer and get chased. Or do another gen for iri Lightbringer.

It's not at all hard dude. Solo or SWF.

  • Imagine being so bad at killer you still struggle to get kills after 3.7 update.

90% of the survivors that escape my games are ones I basically let escape. The other 10% actually earned it.

  • Girl has anger problems.

Father works his butt off for his family. Gets a fat pink slip. Goes off the deep end. Kills wife. Hacks daughter to death.

Entity wanted father but saw more potential in Rin, so she took her as she died.

Catch 1 of them, hook them near that gen, kick it, now watch as they all throw themselves at either the hook or the gen, over committing and giving you free hits/hooks.''

So it a nerf to survivor who played in a bad way and din,t use the fact they could apply pressure in 4 differant places? If anything that let them know how to acctualy play...

If they split up you can easily finish a chase before a gen pops.

The moral of the story is that if you struggle for a 4k after 3.7 you are not a good killer.

''Toolbox nerf basically made toolboxes worthless for gens except for specific situations.''

BNP still exist and still is strong, gens are done at the incredible space of 80 second if we assume the survivor don't hit a single great skill check and use no toolbox and work alone on a gen. I don't even see why survivor would need any kind of gen repair speed boost at all... + toolbox are good for sabotage.

''Gen repair nerf slowed down base gen speed.''

No it did'nt. the only differance now is that survivor do gen slower if they do them in the worst way possible (4 people working on a gen) The only thing the nerf has done is that it made it impossible for four people working on a gen to complete it by the time killer walk to them if the killer happend check that gen at the end of their first patrol. Gen are still as fast if all survivor work on differant gens, and you should do that if you want to reduce the killer pressure. If anything it made it harder for killer to punish survivor cause now they wont all work on the same gens unless they are brain dead. so an easy to punish situation should'nt happend anymore.

    ''Maps were made smaller.''

This one isin't a fat killer buff too. it just made it so killer who"s power rell on small map aren't extremly weaker on bigger map. smaller map also mean vault and pallet are closer to each other. Deadzone usually are near map edge or near generator, in angle survivor should'nt be running into since the killer can't force them at all into these directions. Every single pallet is a safe one now. And in a certain map due to it being smaller and loop being closer, you can have a jungle gym close to junk piles with pallet right next to the killer shacks, that arguably the safest non god loop the game ever had. Smaller map is a buff for both side if anything.

"BNP still exist and still is strong"

    Sorry but LMFAO

"The only thing the nerf has done is that it made it impossible for four people working on a gen to complete it by the time killer walk to them if the killer happend check that gen at the end of their first patrol."

"This one isin't a fat killer buff too."

Yes it is don't lie. It's a massive killer buff to shrink those maps. I played a game on Rotten Fields as Huntress last night, pretty much every down I was able to carry to the basement, which I then camped and forced unsafe rescues for more basement hooks.

They literally gutted a LOT of survivor advantages and you are sitting here asking for more. If you are still having problems catching survivors and getting kills, maybe you aren't as good at killer as you think you are.

I played about 10 games last night as Huntress and Legion (and 1 as Spirit with a mori for a daily which I didn't even use until the game was over). EVERY SINGLE GAME WAS A 4K (red ranks BTW). Except 2, one game I gave a Laurie hatch because she was funny, and another game as Huntress on Haddonfield I took the 3k and let the Feng hatch because I wanted to end the game and go to bed (they did 0 gens BTW, I snowballed very hard at the start and slugged a lot after 2 hooks, they couldn't recover from it).

Playing killer is easier than ever.

  • You can't be serious with this thread...

    • Toolbox nerf basically made toolboxes worthless for gens except for specific situations.
    • Gen repair nerf slowed down base gen speed.
    • Maps were made smaller.
    • God windows got removed.

How many handouts do you need to finally get a 4k?

  • I really don't why people are complaining about AA. I can barely tell a difference.

This seems like 100% placebo effect. Is it worth this trouble to make something across the map 10% sharper? Can you NOT tell it's a gen?

Like yea it sucks they took out this option but people are acting like it's the Pokemon TV show first season and they are getting seizures when Pikachu does Lightning Bolt. IT IS NOT THAT BIG OF A DEAL.

  • It's so easy to pip at red ranks:

    • Do 1 gen solo.
    • Do a totem.
    • Get a safe rescue.
    • Do 1 heal solo.
    • Get chased for 60 seconds. Stun the killer at least once.
    • Escape or survive for 9 minutes, whatever that takes.
    • Overperform in one of these areas to make up for another.
  • Imagine using your phone to record your computer screen playing a video instead of just posting the video starting at the timestamp.

Also devs said it's a bug and they are working on a fix.

  • I got you beat Mr. Trapper Guy.

I was survivor, either solo or 2 man (I forget) on Grim Pantry against a Trapper. I'm looping him in the main building and eventually get caught downstairs. Adam is hiding just outside the window downstairs. Trapper walks over to the window and puts a trap on the inside.

He comes over to pick me up and ADAM VAULTS THE WINDOW. Like "BRUH you just saw him put that there".

Surprisingly this is probably the third most stupid thing I've ever seen a survivor do. Number 1 was literally painful to watch.

  • Killer Mains: Uses power... +1000 BP

Also Killer Mains: Look at all these bloodpoints I got, I deserve to rank up for it.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • I love how killers refer to these perks as "second chance". Shows that they clearly never play survivor.

  • Updated OP with a better image.

    @Mew le'ts hope.

  • LOL

    1) Mori just makes survivors gen rush harder.

    2) All you are going to do is increase stats on the back end showing that killers are using more moris and thus they will get nerfed. Same with NOED.

You are shooting both of your feet here.

  • I almost never respect pallets as Spirit unless I'm absolutely sure they are going to drop it. She is a 110 killer so you don't have the luxury of respecting the pallet. You kind of want to force pallet drops because then you can use you power and the survivor has to vault which usually gets them caught. Also the stand still trick will sometimes make them slow vault back into your face.

As far as breaking pallets, I break the usual strong pallets (eg. shack) right away, the less than strong pallets I will often use my power to get the survivor down first THEN break the pallet (but if I have time to spare I just break the pallet forcing them to run for the next loop and use my power), and super unsafe pallets I don't bother to break unless I'm trying to get more BP.

Stridor is really nice on Spirit but you have to remember that they will sound closer than they are. You need to pay attention to the direction of the sound more than the distance to really nail down where they are.

It's best to injure a survivor before entering phase, but if you are confident in your phase you can do it on healthy survivors. You should definitely be using your power in a chase because otherwise you are just a 110 killer and that's a bad thing.

Pay attention to every blade of grass, stalk of corn, crow, and anything else that will visually give away a survivors position.

Learn to listen for footsteps AND cries of pain AND normal breathing (last 2 are easier with Stridor). Learn all other sounds survivors make (eg. cleansing, repair, sabo, healing, etc.).

Learn how to read scratch marks, they appear about a second behind the survivor.

Best add-ons are speed and charge time. Duration is also very good. Recovery is decent if you are one of those Spirits that uses phase in short bursts. Saya/Tsuba are really good but if you can track well during phase then you shouldn't really need them that much. Mother Daughter Ring is her absolute strongest add-on but it removes scratch marks so you will need to hone your tracking skills. MDR and Amulet is her strongest combination. Father's Glasses is a good alternative to Stridor because it makes it a lot harder to hide from you while injured (even if they have Iron Will). Passive phase add-ons are only good against survivors that know how to loop a Spirit (but they are VERY good here). Against most survivors it doesn't make much of a difference though. Prayer Beads can be good for particular builds, but they are barely a shadow of their former self.

Don't overuse the stand still trick. I will often do it once at some point in the first chase to see how they react. Most survivors will potato at you, but there are a few that make smart moves. If you try doing this too much against those survivors you will constantly be losing distance.

Be aware of god windows (most are getting changed in the next update). Windows are the best defense against Spirit so you need to learn where they are, how to bait survivors to vault them, and how they might bait you into thinking they vaulted them.

Don't bother with TR perks except maybe M&A. Her phasing woosh is there regardless and removing your TR just makes it easier to know when you are phasing. M&A can help you sneak up on survivors outside of phase, which is nice, but it's a bit of a double edge sword if you phase a lot. Incidentally, Insidious has the most interesting effect when used on Spirit, because it procs on the husk. This means you can wait a second, start phasing, and just after you enter phase your husk gets Insid. With old Prayer Beads this was a very interesting combination, but now I've been having trouble finding a good use for it. Sad really, Prayer Beads was OP but PB + Insid was a really cool combo.

Most chase perks are irrelevant on her. Brutal, SF/Enduring, Bambo, STBFL (even though I see a lot of Spirits use this one). They won't really help you much if at all because her chase is already very strong.

Anti-heal perks are IMO the best picks. Sloppy, Thana, Dying Light, anything that makes it harder to heal is good because it means survivors are easier to track and they will waste time healing to avoid that issue.

Gen slow perks like Ruin and Pop can be good on her, but I play super aggressive and prefer to just ignore gens most of the time. If you do this you can keep constant pressure on survivors. Stopping to kick a gen just slows you down more than anything.

Aura perks are great but you can't see auras in phase. BBQ and Nurse's are the top picks, but really all you need is BBQ to find the next target quickly. You can usually be right on top of them within 5 seconds of getting a hook.

Tracking perks are really good because it will help you in phase. Stridor is obviously the best. Predator, Shadowborn, Bloodhound, even Spies can be really good for her too. I'd avoid Whispers because it makes it harder to hear survivors, even though it's normally a good perk.

Lastly I suggest you grow a thick skin. Lots of survivors hate Spirit because they don't understand her and make a lot of mistakes, then say the character is OP or has no counter play. Just ignore them.

When you turn the game on the first thing that pops up is the news feed and it tells you dedi's were re-enabled for Xbox. Then like 4 days later same thing but to tell you that DC penalties are active.

    How'd ya miss that?

  • Survey is now closed and results are in! Check the OP for charts and breakdown. Was fun thanks everyone.

    Some interesting notes...

Plague V Huntress was ENTIRELY Huntress for the first 20 or so responses. At least some people don't care about looks! Personality counts too.

Joey V Frank and Susie V Julie were neck and neck nearly the entire time, but Frank and Susie pulled ahead at the very end.

Demo is apparently the guy people want to cook their food?

    Nurse has cuter feet 😥

    That is all.

  • Wow. Imagine actually caring is someone crouches in front of you.

Some of you guys wouldn't last a day in Halo 2 circa 2005.

  • Oni is a sluggy killer. Spirit is all about chase and map pressure. You shouldn't be slugging that much with her honestly, outside of the standard necessity to do it for any killer (example SLUG IF THEY HAVE DS, not rocket science).

  • Three problems;

    1) What's the point of Legion Pin if it's going to make it so they can't heal. You WANT them to be able to heal, else they will just do gens while the Broken timer ticks down.

    2) Sloppy only works on basic attacks. Chances are it won't be in effect the entire time because you will mostly be hitting with Frenzy attacks.

    3) Who heals against Legion anyway? The moment you get survivors with Iron Will and Dead Hard they will just gen rush you.

A better plan is to run stacked knives (longer mending), Thana (to encourage them to heal), Coulro/Distressing (to punish them for healing), and Ruin (to punish them for getting off the gen). That's a LOT more evil.

  • LOL no it didn't.

You can pip on the current emblem system with a 0k if you stall the game long enough, get at least 1 hook on everyone, and get a lot of chases and hits. Legion is especially good at this because it's so easy to max Chaser/Malicious with them.

  • Eh I'll leave it up til... Saturday? Sure let's say Saturday.

That's actually completely necessary. Killers will be impossible to balance properly until solos are brought to swf level.

    No it's not necessary.

NOTHING you do will make solos and SWF even because communication will still trump any amount of information you provide. If I have a plan to do something, no matter what's going on, if I can communicate said plan to others it will be INSANELY more effective than if I just did it without telling anyone.

Honestly solo survivor is not that bad. If you play more selfishly you can escape more often than not. Giving out free information ruins the game because it removes a lot of what-ifs.

The goal should not be to bring solo up to SWF, it should be the other way around. Put limitations on SWF so they have to play more like solos. For example, if you are in an SWF then there can only be 1 instance of any given perk. This prevents SWF groups from stacking DS/BT/Adren on everyone. Things shift to team builds instead of everyone run meta. And since you have the added advantage of communication, having limits like that wouldn't hurt you so much that it'd become impossible to escape.

Like if the game is already pretty well balanced for solo, but potentially unbalanced for SWF, it makes no sense to break the working part of the game only to redo all the balanced after. It makes way more sense to fix the unbalanced part and leave what isn't broken alone.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Don't try to reinvent the wheel. That's how I look at it.

Again, I really really HATE the idea of tying something that can be achieved with communication to a perk. A good player messes up that way with comms maybe once every 50 games and that's it. But tying something SWF players have for free to a perk feels just ######### to me. I could fly with the map wide noise, even though I fundamentally disagree with it and think it's unnecessary "skill expression", but tying that to a perk is a no go to me.

It's like, oh, you're playing with friends, you get to run 4 chase perks/second chance perks. Oh, are you solo? Yeah, slap Kindred and whatever is used to track totem count in there, now you have two perks left. Don't want that? Play without information that SWF have for free. I can't agree with that and I hope the devs don't follow that direction with the game, otherwise we're gonna see the gigantic power gap between solo and SWF forever.

Better tied to a perk than to just give out the information for free to everyone. That doesn't make sense to me, to just hand out the information "because SWF gets it". SWF gets a lot of thing solos don't, that's not an excuse to make it part of the base game. Otherwise might as well delete like 75% of the survivor perks from the game and make them base kit. I'm pretty sure even you would agree that's unnecessary.

  • I hate DC'ing, however I think the devs need to re-evaluate the DC penalties. First one should be free (because sometimes the game boots you for no reason and you get a DC penalty), and subsequent ones should have a lower timer (first one being 5 minutes is okay but every one after needs to be scaled down). It should reset based on number of games OR time elapsed since last DC. So if you play all day, and DC once at the start, it resets after like 10 games. And if you go 24 hours without a DC it should reset.

I say this only because the game screws you over sometimes. Until they can fix this, DC penalties need to be toned down just a tad.

  • Sure, I get punished because other survivors are bad.

Newsflash, survivors are not a TEAM. You have the same collective goal, but if I wanted to I could leave you to die and just leave. Which I will if it's clear there is no way to save you without dying myself.

Also killer pips used to be based on kills and it was awful.

This thread is just not well researched or thought through.

I can kinda see your point, but I still think there should be a counter.

I don't see a reason to keep things in the game in a way that favors SWF over solo survivors this much. It makes no sense to me and goes against everything this community asks for everyday.

I mean, SWF is not infallible. They can make mistakes. My group is a bunch of really REALLY good survivors but we still ######### up from time to time. Sometimes royally.

I literally had a game where I had a map and my ONLY JOB was to cleanse all the totems (this was my job for the last like 10 games which I did no problems). Last gen about to pop my friend goes "did you get them all" I said yes. Pops it BOOM, NOED. We laughed (well I laughed, she was screaming at me, but came around and started to laugh at me for being incompetent). It was a hectic game and we had like 5 games in a row on MacMil so I just lost track (and somehow this totem didn't show up when I looked at the map the last time).

Point being, a counter removes all room for error. We don't need it. If it's tied to a perk (Small Game) or there is a map wide noise that requires you to track it yourself, then sure.

I mean, that's exactly the same thing. You could remove the generator counter and everyone playing would still know how many are missing because of the notification. I see no point on this specific stance, but okay.

They are NOT the same thing. Not at all.

If you have to track it yourself, there is room for error. "Did we do 5 totems or only 4? I was being chased half the game and missed it." This is SUPER common with exit gates. "I was mid-chase and didn't see where the gates are, HALP".

If there is a counter it completely removes any room for error. "Did we do 5 totems or only 4? Oh wait 4 because the number on my screen tells me." Gens are different because they are the MAIN objective, it's a bit necessary there.

Asking for a totem counter is like asking for a clock on the screen so you can track the EXACT timers on every perk. Or asking for exit gates to stay permanently lit for survivors so they always know where to go.
