    It didnt matter AGAIN.

This time it feels especially insulting because i have a badge on my profile, that specificly states, that they read the feedback.

Yeah ive read a lot of your posts and i felt you were very inspiring as well as other onryo players for bringing back the old but great sadako that could have been justice. Its very sad to see how this ended up. I hope they go back on this with what they said in the update and the immedate backlash. But all i can say is my hopes and strength is on your side. As well as others ive seen. Wish we had more like you when other killers fell. I hope you win this in the end.

It made any map he played on viable, even indoor maps.

It gave massive snowball potential and removed audio (one of the biggest indicators that Billy is using his power).

Apex Muffler still exists but Leafy Mash has been retired.

You might be able to get something interesting like it with furtive chase friends till the end. Since hes very good at getting into chases quickly. But yeah i wish we coulda seen some of it return.

  • Im surprised in the same patch that billy finally restores his former glory and then some. Onryo replaces him with the dumbest punishments for using your power. They even call out the players for being clever. What? But seriously as someone whos had their main done in (back in 2020 with overheat) hopefully you don't have to wait as long as we did. They backpedal quickly i hope.

  • @glitchboi said:

Yeah I think the add-on adjustments are pretty solid, still too many Overdrive duration add-ons but it'll do. I'm hoping to see Mother's Helpers, Pighouse Gloves and Leafy Mash come back in the future, though. And The Thompson's Moonshine.

I'm especially glad The Thompson's Mix returned and was rebalanced for its side effect, I was shocked to see it in the PTB because I didn't think they would recommission an add-on. His cooldown add-ons were my favorite pre-pre-rework.

Yeah moonshine was one of my favorite looking addons. And some of the old addons were nice thinking about them with overdrive. But im not really complaining.

I can confirm that this is not a bug. It is intended that a pallet which is being vaulted cannot be kicked, similar to how a generator that is being repaired cannot be kicked.

There may be a very brief window between vaults where you can initiate the kick, but otherwise you would need to uncloak and grab/hit them.

Yeah you can normally break it after they finish the vault if ya spam the button.

  • Ftp in my face, trying to force me onto your teammate whos deathhook, sometimes bagging if they arent even trying to loop and just predropping the whole time. And yeah trying to bodyblock me with BT. I can count. Lol.

That’s what I said, you are indeed throwing. There are 2 others survivors who did nothing to deserve this.

Also even if someone make a mistake that’s not a reason to throw.

My thing is i run borrowed time and we'll make it harder for the killer to tunnel the unhooked survivor. If they 4% percent and the killers returning. They are on their own at that point. My unhook woulda been safer then their kobe. So if the killer wants them dead. Ill let them handle themselves. Im not gonna obviously just leave them on or anything like that. Just any results from not letting me use the perks that could help them is on them.

  • @Firellius said:

Did they fix gen dribbling yet?

Thats a new term? What ya mean?

  • The only thing im gonna say is the amount of rules being introduced to this game i fear for any future players. For those who don't know. There was a streamer tourney years ago which most of the streamers were first-time players. The amount of rules they saw the game had to give them that you just "had to know" (and some of those tourney rules are now mechanics like no camping or tunneling) And the more that gets added that a killer has to tip-toe around. Also im saying this as a person who doesnt deploy these strategies. But this is also coming from a person from the time where none of these hard mechanics existed. You could pretty much play how ya wanted. Its definitely simpler on the survivor end because the entity doesnt really step in to stop them on a basekit level like it does to impede the killer.

It's probably because that range is tried and true. They KNOW Shadowborn's FOV works. There's videos out there of ppl who have tweaked the FOV scale to allow for more and it just kinda breaks things. You have floating hands and such.

Although if i remember correctly originally shadowborn was even wider. I saw gameplay of it on original wraith. Idk if thatd still work as a option this late in. But never know.

  • @GeneralV said:

Lightborn is fine as it is.

Mostly agree. I dont know some matches it just annoys me. Because it can just completly disable a whole item thats already niche. (Also the perks robbed me of so many blind challenges i swear) like franklins at least has a back and forth. Broken perks don't completly disable healing as a option you will always have a way out. Lightborn its just. "No flashlight/blind gameplay" and its weird. Understand its probably just me and a few others. But it does definitely have a annoyance factor to it imo. I remember seeing a joke post on what perks to nerf "if the killer has Lightborn. The survivor can throw their flashlight at their head. Instantly breaking the flashlight but stunning the killer in the process" i thought was halarious.

Sometimes I wish they'd make killer specific sounds in general not play for the killer, or at least not as loud. Do I REALLY need to hear Huntress hum all game? So yeah... a change for Billy's saw's sound at least for the Billy player would be nice.

What you dont want to hear plague mumbling to herself the whole time like you had whispers? Agreed though.

Inside of Billy, there are two wolves.

One wolf is extremely easy to loop and playing against him is like playing against an AFK killer for 3 out of 4 survivors. He helicopters around a small wall for five minutes and then all gens are done before he gets a single hook.

The other wolf has a chainsaw and if he ever catches you out in the open, you're just dead. He proxy camps hooks with no counterplay possible.

There is no middle ground where you have a fun and engaging chase, you're either bored out of your mind or you get caught out and instadowned.

Wasnt it the devs changes that forced billy into curve only style anyway? They removed so much of the basekit flow that noone wanted to play him. From addons being ridiculously restricted. To a mechanic they even said is a controversial change looking back. As well as making the saw louder and fov changes. We had 3 years where he was basically bottom barrel. Im interested to see how he plays now that he actually has some flow back. The new overdrive is the icing on the cake. But to have him actually feel like he used to is the big win for me. (Also i dont get the caught out in the open arguement. Like most killers that can easily down you in that case? Hell theres more opportunity for loops in current dbd compared to old you should always have something)

  • The chainsaw killers actually using their power as their down tool is accurate and i love it. M1 simulator is boring. If people want killers to just smack them normally. Thats their choice. But i will always find bubba and billy the funnest killers for actually using their powers all the time and not relying on m1s. Obviously theres some loops that force their hand anyway but thats how it be.

Eh, hug tech is least of my worries when it comes to vs Blight

Yeah ive seen this post referencing mandys quote a lot. She just said something at the time. Maybe she didn't know what would come down the line. Or it was just a honest mistake. So they probably think its better not addressed in any of these forum posts because no matter what itll be controversial "a dev said it WILL be fixed".

  • Its a unfortunate fate of console. I didnt have the money to get another better pc for years after i started playing this game. Now i got a pc but im so used to console so i only use the PC for the ptb testing. (And i use my ps5 controller) they said before its pretty much impossible because youd have to get a entire seperate game submitted to sony everytime you wanted to test something.

  • Wish we could get a answer on overheats very existance in the first place. As people have pointed out multiple times. They said the only problems with billy was addons. And he is "in a very good spot" yet they did all that? Something just doesnt add up. Its weird. The only insight i think we've gotten was mclean saying he didnt like the change. And that it was a change that came up in a table conversation. Passed around enough. Then ended up getting put in.

In his words "if it was up to me at the time. I wouldn't have done the overheat change"

  • It might be to make the numbers a bit better for people who arent running regression perks. Like i can actually kick a gen with a chase build and have semi-decent regression now. Instead of using pop. Pain res. Surge. Ect. Because as fun as it is using regression. There should be other options.

  • @Pulsar said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3624147#Comment_3624147

You should not be able to hold a 3-gen indefinitely.

You should need to advance the game. Simply continuing to kick 3 gens isn't progressing the game.

Eight events is a LOT. If you can't manage a single down in that time, that's on you.

Funniest thing is. Its memey. But i feel i could run into this limit with addons that involving kicking faster. Legions for instance. Or mainly wraith with his 2 kick addons or 1 and serpent soot. Since with those addons you can kick very fast and then stick to the survivor. In serpent soots case for wraith you do it because itd uncloak you faster and you get a kick out of it. Another example could be ghostfaces addon that explodes a gen when ya mark. Those are the only few addon examples i can think of.

  • @Nazzzak said:

Aaaaaand the knee-jerk reactions start. Didn't take long. Survivors are not going to purposely 3 gen themselves lol one of the issues with killers zoning was that they would quickly go through survivor resources and quickly create deadzones. Survivors creating 3 gen zones will burn through pallets faster than killers will burn through their 8 regression events, which will quickly turn the tide in favour of the killer. This is not efficient. No one will be doing that on purpose.

The only problem i can see is the nicher perks that involve regression. Machine learning. Trail of torment. Eruption/nowhere to hide for aura reveal. Surge for m1s. These are restricted to regression for some other benefit then just endless kicking. And they can easily hit the cap by just being used for their intended purpose. Surge may be the biggest since it can hit like 3 gens at once with one proc. But as long as i don't randomly run into the anti-kick stopping me for me playing normally should be fine. Maybe they could bump it to 10? Not sure. I do think the hard limit needs to be there just 8 might not be the right number.

  • Happy new year! Our team is back in action, and we’ve got a doozie of a Developer Update in store for you today. In this edition, we’ll be covering everything coming to Dead by Daylight in our first major update of the year, from various Killer, Perk, and Map updates and more. We’ve been busy, so buckle up, it’s a long…

So glad to see these changes. Timing your overdrive will be interesting to see. And it won't hamper his gameplay anymore. And it gives him a chance to have newer addons basically for overdriving maybe for longer or easier!

(Also the lesser hitbox on objects is great!)

  • Me just running around the map as drift king until i find someone. The saw will lead me. People can play serious if they want. Not my style.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

The systems are bad because they want them to be lenient. Because god forbid if Killers would not get massive value by standing next to the Hook.

I dont really see Basekit-Endurance as a real Anti-Tunneling Tool, it is more a fix for the big flaw that you had to rely on another Survivor having a specific Perk when unhooking you. But against Tunneling, Endurance does nothing, since all Endurance is removed by a single Hit.

I dont have high hopes for the 3-Gen Solution either. It will be very lenient, because Killers should be able to defend a 3-Gen, so I dont expect it to do much. Especially not if the Devs dont rework the Gen Placements, which sometimes spawn really dumb 3-Gens. I had a 3-Gen two days ago in Dead Dawg. Near the Water Tower, the house across the road of the Water Tower and the road itself in front of Check. You could see all Gens clearly when standing in the middle. Stuff like this should not spawn.

Well they did say they still want survivors to have to think of their gen-spread. Like i dont even go for forced 3 gens. But sometimes survivors happened to prioritize the gens furthest away early. Leading them to a condensed gen spread at the end. The devs probably don't think the game should just let them get out of that scott free either. Especially if the killers not forcing it and its honestly the survivors fault for it.

I highly suspect overheat was added purely so addons would have more variables to alter. Because without overheat, all you can really change is charge, turn, and sprint speed.

Although lopro and the iris add stuff outside of just the normal saw. Lopro lets ya go through pallets. The one iri makes you undetectable. And the other makes your saw silent if out of the tr. (Its fun for jumpscares with tinkerer or other undetectable stuff)

Billy without overheat was the most obnoxious killer in the entire game, because of the constant chainsaw revving noises. I absolutely hated Billy players that would just spam 99% chainsaws during chases, which caused my headphones to get blasted by constant BRRRMMMMRMMMRMM BRRRMMRMMRMMM BBBRRRRMMMRMMMRMMMMMMMRMMRMRM noises.

For real the chainsaw revving noises need to get toned down on the survivor side.

Its annoying as billy rn to. Since the saw is like half of your volume. Its louder than the chase theme i feel. Then ya got the scream and the overheat sputter. I hate it so much. Hopefully they change it for both sides.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

So it brings us back to the question... why add it in the first place? If you were happy with his performance and happy with everything except insta-saw why add a mechanic we're now removing because, as we all could've told you before PTB, it was an awful idea...

I mean if youve ever seen the mclean video he went into some more info on the thought behind it back then. "The dev team is made of human beings. And human beings disagree on everything. Sometimes changes are introduced and get passed around. Before being inserted" and he made it pretty clear he wasnt for the change back then. But maybe some of the team was.

Exactly. Overheat is basically not a thing anymore. It was barely noticeable most of the time anyway (except for the PTB where it was introduced), but nowadays it might not exist. So it will not change anything if they get rid of it.

Overheat is also not the reason why people dont play Billy.

    @Topic:

Yes, I would say so. There is no sign of Overheat, so I think it is a hint that it is removed. Good, but pointless.

I mean rn all it does is punish drift king which i don't think is necessary. I love zooming around the map until i find someone to saw. Overheat prevented me from stopping and going for another if i did it for to long. So it wasnt completly pointless. Just it affected one playstyle vs the others. (Some people forget when they buffed it for revving they nerfed it for actually running) (hopefully with his addon pass they also remove the bump drawback to the purple drift addon)

  • @UndeddJester said:

Wraith is fine for the most part... though...

Actually something I would like to ask, would any high skilled players have any suggestions for dealing with his silent uncloak iri add-on? I played against one the other day, and against high walls I genuinely couldn't figure out what the hell I could do other than just keep letting him chew through pallets, or just slap me down. One of the things I've been trying to do against Wraith is not just camp pallets and throw when he uncloaks, I actually try to mind game and save resources... However with the iri add-on....

If I try to leave the loop while he is cloaked, he just follows and uncloaks in a dead zone and hits me. Usual Wraith issues.

If I try to stay at the loop working around a pallet\window, he can obviously use body blocking strats to get a hit. Usual Wraith issues.

However trying to mind game around windows and pallets and make him commit... I really struggle do that against this add-on... he can just uncloak around high walls and I have no warning that he is doing so, I have no idea most of the time if I should move or stay. It basically means I have stay in sight of him at all times, and stay close enough to a strong resource to use it when he commits, where the tiniest delay in reaction time means I'm eating a hit... and I'm back to just burning resources again.

I suspect it's my inability to quickly idenitfy loop structures with windows and chain them together efficiently to beat the Wraith to them... but with the silenced bell, I just dunno what to do instead of camping windows and pallets, and just hop quietly when I suspect he is uncloaking and praying he guesses wrong. Any tips would be appreciated.

Isnt there still a crackling sound even if you don't hear the bell anymore? I remember hearing about wraith having 2 noises associated to his uncloak. The bell. And the crackling of his form changing.

  • So the killer made to catch up through exhaustion cant mindgame exhaustion perks if their used at the time he mindgames the uncloak? Seems alittle weird since thats part of his design to force out that stuff and catch up.

  • RDT_20231229_1129531279241418968735603.jpg

Yeah i think having both halves in the game would be fine. Itd combine the new and the old for the people who liked the older versions. And the older versions could fit a gamemode like "old dbd" i feel like the old maps fit a better astetic and look for the games design. (Coldwind farm being a big example) i miss them myself. Soon it might be just hawkins left with the old look. Assuming its not reworked to.

This isn’t sarcasm but that would be a cool mechanic to send out all 3 guards. With right balance they can turn that into a actual feature

Yeah i feel like with a proper rework a in 4-places at once type deal could be really fun for him. Maybe if the guards can't actually down or something. Or they each have jobs they do around the map like breaking pallets or something. Definitely could see something more interesting come out of it. Especially if the 3-genning fix happens and he falls off in playrate.

  • Yeah the situation behind legacy will always be difficult. A good bit of people got legitimately robbed of what they earned. Like with the scorching skins. But i don't know if were at the level to give it to everyone. Maybe repurpose it for something like p100? Thats about it for me. Or just when your given enough proof give it back to them?

  • Well isnt this a bait conversation? Your just making a discussion to attack others and make a generalization about the others here? I dont see what conversation this adds? Coming from a pure 50/50 player who has around 8k hours now.

Pretty sure it is, those are the 2 numbers I hear everywhere and also heard often in the past. I don't have a confirmation source but I'm certain that those are the numbers.

Monitor & Abuse is a Unique Perk belonging to The Doctor.Prestige The Doctor to Prestige 1, 2, 3 respectively to unlock Tier I, Tier II, Tier III of Monitor & Abuse for all other Characters. Buff: made the Terror-Radius modifiers a fixed value across all Tiers. Change: changed the Field of View modifiers from adjectives to numbers 3/5/10 °. An increased Field of View affects the angle from which Survivors can attempt to blind the Killer. The default Killer FOV is set at 87 °. Monitor & Abuse fea

Yeah idk when bhvr got this opinion of "we won't ban because its a bug we caused" when survivors or killers literally go out of their way to abuse it. There was bugs like lightspeed nurse or legion where people actually got banned in the past. So it was sometime between now and the.

  • Ey now GoJ is bad on both fronts...yay. if you chase it literally is still the safest map in the game. If you have regression. The games over if you lock that.

Adding more keys for more actions would solve (remove) CJ tech yes. It would also solve locker/window interaction, free hooks happen with survivors jump into locker.

Though, the game would be less fun to watch, since those are unexpected scenarios.

I mean my main comparison also was with pinhead and legion mostly. Because survivors get pretty ticked (understandably so) when they can't vault a pallet because their chained giving pinhead a free down because their vault prompt gets blocked by removing chains. Same with trying to unhook while needing to mend. You might have gotten that trade. But the prompt denied you and got the free down as well. Its funny because i know when its happening as pinhead because the survivors hugging the pallet trying to vault but they are just stuck there as i walk up and hit them 😅. Sure its maybe funny for me but i doubt its fun for them ofc. Hell you even see it on self care (for the few people that run it) they run up to unhook and just start healing lol. I feel the lack of button mapping is dated imo. But if we think it makes things more interesting. I guess. Side note. Did they ever fix recovery and jump into hatch being the same button? Because i still see survivors freaking out when i give them hatch as they spin around it trying to go in.

Yeah, absolutely assess it. My point is that after it's assessed, at least in this game, you'll very rarely find that it was a bad idea.

Overheat, sure, whatever. Get rid of it, it doesn't make a difference either way. That's a bit of an outlier, though, and again- doing that won't fix Hillbilly. It won't even help.

I am gonna push back on the idea that you "need to consider Overheat" now, though. No you don't, lol. You have to go out of your way to actually have Overheat matter. It has no positives but it has no negatives, either. It does nothing.

I mean itd be better than what they are probably doing again if they are not removing it because they said "we plan to make it even more forgiving" so, we speaking if you now move around the map with it youll generate a lot less charge to? (Since they increased it when traversing the map when they did the change to make it meaningless when revving) so now itll do absolutely nothing in the case of traversing and reving? I mean i guess if the mechanic still exists but does nothing in all cases. No need to remove it lol. Just makes it sound weird to be there in the first place. (Since i assume their also moving away from addons interacting with it) itll just be...there.

  • @C3Tooth said:

Its just the rule of the game. There is 1 candy, either you, or me, eat the candy. It is coded like that, and meant to be played like that.

Kicking animation trumps Any mean Necessary, which Kicking cancel AMN. If Kicking trumps vaulting, then vaulting denies kicking would be a bug. However, Devs dont code kicking trumps vaulting. Perhaps because vaulting animation be canceled mid pallet would be weird.

Though, as other said, you can simply wait half a sec and hit/down the CJ tech user. They risk taking hit, or even free hook, success flashlight save is their reward.

Same to killer window vault passing, you can notice if there are scratch marks, if not, survivor doesnt running. Its not un-counterable or give survivor any benefit.

Although to be fair on the other end i have seen survivors want to push allowing you to change your keybinds for specific interactions so they can vault while chained by pinhead for instance because of the things being the same button. Unhooking instead of mending (again same button) not being vacuumed into a locker when vaulting (ect). These are also cases where thats just how the game is. Removing pinheads chains are a primary action same as vaulting. So you can't have it both ways same as a killer trying to pick up vs kicking the pallet. So in the case that ever gets fixed i think itd be fair to make kicking and pickup different buttons as well.

  • @please_explain said:

So why when there is a exploitable mechanic for survivors it's a tech and left in the game and for killers it's a bug and gets patched?

A good bit of techs i see on the end arent really insane bugs though that you can't play around? Stuff like them vaulting into you after stunning you. You can just turn around and smack them. Fov teching sure it might get you the first few times but you can act on it afterwords. The legit gross techs have been fixed imo like survivors being able to phase through killers at windows to vault through them after they vault over. And the fall stutter canceling since it gave survivord immedate distance and bypassed the point of fall stuttering. Sometimes "techs" are just strategies like throwing a pallet to heal a person on the other side. Some techs like Cj teching by abusing the lack of different inputs between picking up/kicking a pallet are the techs i think are pretty dumb. You can also tech survivors with people like pinhead since vault/breaking chains are the same button. I don't like the ones that abuse the button presses of the other side really or mechanics that Sabotage the other side (wiggle lunge canceling the killer) something like hug teching for blight i don't really mind either because again the survivor can play against it. I think it depends hardly on the nature, how effective it is, and was there any way to avoid it for me.

Yeah if prove thyself didnt get it removed you could easily fill the gen points.

  • Didnt they say overheats staying its just gonna be made "even more lax"? Unless thats them taunting before its ultimately scrapped. Also i think just a good addon pass. Maybe make something like his buckle basekit which specifically reduces his collision hitbox on objects (similar to how they did with weskers dash so he could still hit survivors but not run into everything) make him a little faster at dashing basekit so the engravings arent the end-all-be-all. Those are my few guesses. Please also make the scream and saw not asmr me the whole game. Just mostly slight basekit adjustments to improve overall flow. And addons.

That sounds so balanced! 60 seconds where the survivors can literally do nothing while the killer has no reason whatsoever to leave the hook because all gens are blocked anyway, for the duration of a whole hook stage too!

You should totally get hired at bhvr, you'd be a great addition to the balance team

One you dont know how difficult it is to hook each survivor the first time. Especially when one plays more stealthy and the others aggro. Two. We have anticamp and i just said that was a idea for a mid-game slow mechanic because that seems to be the problem is the killer can never catch up in the mid-game. Obviously if they made it a basekit thing thered be stipulations around it like what otz said in his video. Three. Im a player not a dev. Im sure they have better ideas then me. Just made a suggestion for something killers have been asking for for years so that regression can finally be pushed away from a meta. And you dont feel like you need to tunnel or 3 gen or camp because theres actually something awarding you for spreading pressure amongst the survivors.

    Lets just be respectful.

Gee, I wonder why Killers don't have Devour Hope basekit.

Snarkiness aside, I don't think Killers need any basekit adjustment at this time. A couple of years ago, you could've convinced me, but Killer today is pretty strong.

Plus, if you get rid of Corrupt and make it basekit, that just frees up a slot for more regression.

I might agree with otzs take as a mid-game slow where if you hook each survivor once the gens get blocked for 40 seconds then embrace makes it 60.
