You do get value out of it.
Just not against a character that dropped a perk slot to specifically counteract that thing. There'll be three other survivors it'll still work on just fine.
Meanwhile wraiths over here. "What you got wraith? I had to run 2 addons and a aura reveal perk and still couldnt see kate"
Wraith:"foolish clown. For i have all seeing blood. She never replenishes her stacks Because im always cloaked and ill shred them in the first 2 chases against her. Distortion? HA"
I mean i guess its a way to tell survivors their distortion isnt infallible against all killers i guess. Just sucks normal m1 killers get punished so much more than others when it comes to just running a simple aura reveal combo.

Except in that case, why is Distortion being singled out as the problem?
If the survivor they're looking for is participating normally in the game flow, why can't the killer find them? And if they're not participating in the game flow, what's to stop that survivor from just sitting in a locker all game?
Why is it distortion that creates this issue, and not the aura reading removing all effort on the part of the killer?
Is it that the killer couldn't find them, or couldn't be bothered to?
Remember back in the day when BBQ & Chili was an extremely common pick and everyone learned to hop in a locker when a survivor was about to be hooked? What happened to that? Why is that now suddenly a bad thing?
Or is the bad thing actually that these survivors are just playing an incredibly poor macro-game, and Distortion is just a symptom, not the cause?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3644370#Comment_3644370
Right in the wake of the MFT nerfs, the crosshairs immediately shifted onto Distortion to be the next survivor perk that should be put to the grave. Repackaging the same deal but with a 'how do you do, fellow survivors?' spiel doesn't impress me.
Why's Distortion being singled out as the problem, as opposed to the power creep of information perks on the killer side?
Most of my matches, if survivors were on a gen, I would find them. If they weren't, they were not my problem. But apparently this gameplay element got switched to auto-pilot somewhere along the way where the killer just triggers an info perk and clicks the red blot instead.
And now this thread's here to try and pass the bill to the survivors.
Distortion is not the problem here. If you don't want to tunnel, you don't tunnel. If you can't find someone because they're using distortion, then you can't find them without your perks finding them for you.
'But what if they're over in a random empty corner where they have no reason to go?'
Then they don't need Distortion, they just need a locker. Nerfing Distortion won't make a lick of difference. And yes, that kind of playstyle also existed long before Distortion was buffed into viability, and it'll continue long after Distortion gets crippled.
Like i posted earlier today i had a mindgame clown build using both the aura read addons and im-all-ears. Not a sweaty build just going for some fun mindgames with invigoration and bottles. Chased a kate. Never saw her aura the whole game because clown has a 32 meter tr and both addons cap out at 16 meters for 6 seconds at most. Meanwhile her perk would be constantly activating nullifying 3 of my things. Then proceeds to remove her scratch marks as well allowing her to instead mindgame me continously. If stakeout and pebble cant charge in chase because "they are stealth perks" what makes distortion different? So then the counterplay becomes "run stealth and even more aura reveal so you can shred the stacks" maybe i just wanna run a minor aura reveal combo and get value out of it? But i guess i could just play wraith and use his purple addon so their perk never gets any true value. Sorry clown. The perk distinguishes you from wraith.
-
@GeneralV im deeply sorry for your loss.
-
Honestly if ive played the same map 3 times in one day and i see a map offering for it the temptation is there. Especially if its like the game, garden of joy, or badham. Survivors mainly have gotten so used to what they know is a strong map to bring. Id just remove map offerings and you probably wouldn't see it anymore for either side.

I guess they were worried it would take too long to recharge tokens otherwise.
Regardless, I agree. As it is there isn't really much use in it having tokens at all. You might burn through with Scratched Mirror Myers but even a full aura reading build isn't going to work. It could be tweaked a little. Either make it so that it takes longer for tokens to recharge or you can no longer recharge tokens in chase but the recharge is faster.
Unless your wraith with his purple lol. Sure they can become immune to his aura reveal every once and a while. If the wraith ever chases while uncloaked. If not then pretty much wraith should have the entire perk gone by their second "chase" with them (since its not really a chase because wraiths cloaked)
-
@Chaosrider said:
Thats what Distortion is made for.
Yet even weaker perks that follow kinda the same logic don't recharge in chase? Stakeout, diversion? Whats the difference?
-
@LordGlint said:
That's rough since distortion ALSO hides scratch marks when it proccs. I was having a similar situation when using chucky's aura reading addons. I'd scamper a window to try a cheeky mindgame, only to procc their distortion and hide their scratchmarks for them.
Yeah i noticed that because it basically turned my own perks and addons against me since it made it harder for me to track her. Gave her info of what i was running. And i really couldn't do anything to avoid it besides chase someone else i guess.

If your in the open or the survivors under a pallet? Not really. Because you can try faking pickup multiple times but theyll always pretty much get it everytime with how fast the boost is and the fact it only happens once the pickup does. It makes pallet and flashbang saves the easiest thing in the world for good survivors. Even when looking at a wall if the survivor drops the flashbang at your feet its a guaranteed blind. Use lightborn and blood favor i guess. Its one of those perks you gotta hope the survivor using it doesnt know the timing.

I find it funny killers complain when survivors get perks that double down on things, but it's ok for their side. Why would anyone play Weaker, Blight or Bubba anymore when Billy now combines all of their attributes together into a rediculously overpowered killer?
Lets see
Wesker:his dashes can go over pallets and windows forcing the loop to end. And he can forcefully displace a survivor away from a loop and throw them to gain more distance. Also has added slowdown with the infection mechanic and the hindered instant down. Doubling as a slowdown and high mobility/displacement killer. Can even turn after grabbing to guarantee slambs on some maps. Can slide along objects to catch survivors off guard and get a grab confirm.
Bubba:can use his saw at any pallet loop forcing it to go down and break it. Has full movement of his saw allowing him to swing fully around loops. His saw doesnt end after hitting letting him go through endurance or survivors to get chain downs. Generally better in chase than billy as he can end his saw and manage his tokens and use as many as he needs. With addons like engravings and chilli can basically catch most survivors at loops or guarantee a pallet drop which he can immedately saw again afterword.
Blight:Can dash in multiple directions in a loop to cut off survivors quickly. While billy goes strictly in a straight line. Has addons to make him able to fully curve around loops or infinite bounce basically guaranteeing hits. Can control his movement easier in indoor maps with a lower more controllable speed and less cooldowns. Can also m1 into dash down quickly actually faster than billy if he uses it right. Generally better in most maps than billy and chasing with how much control he has from his power via techs or strats and no hard limits.

Yeah. No. That's not how it works. He moves at 15.6 m/s max. That is the absolute fastest he can manage with Overdrive and Engravings. You still get out of the way easily, if he isn't too close already. In which case, that's your fault again for letting him get so close without trying to dodge / get behind and object sooner.
If you can react to everything he does, then he can never hit you. So there needs to be a little precaution involved in his counterplay. Otherwise he goes straight back to where he was. To being a killer that is only threatening on paper. You can dodge a hatchet too and that's even faster than Billy (quite a bit faster at that).
Yeah the closest ive seen to "uncounterable" from him is when he has boots and engravings he can fake leaving hook and come back and instant down a unhooker after the unhook animation. Hes very fast at hook trading and "proxycamping" hell ive done it on accident a few times when returning to the hook. You have to be very careful in a open map and make sure you keep your eyes out before fully commiting.

I'm pretty sure that's an oversight.
I also agree that the High Speed Idler Screw, Thermal Casing, Discarded Airfilter and Ragged Engine need a rework. They might as well not exist because they fix issues that aren't there in the first place. No amount of number changes would help with that. They're simply unnecessary.
Yeah introducing my 2 friends to billy i told them the first thing about the addons is to ignore those because you can just tap the saw for a half a second to stall dissipation lol. Thats what ive been doing. The only case i could maybe see is one of them removing dissipation entirely. That might be decent for a yellow maybe.

I currently use him without Add-ons, but at the start I used cooldown Add-ons and the bump seems way longer now than when I used the cooldown Add-ons. Perhaps an oversight.
Also, they need to rework Thermal Casing, Discarded Air Filter, Ragged Engine and High-Speed Idler Screw. Those Add-ons are completely useless.
Yeah i stated this before. If they rework the cooldown addons they need to drawing board the other 4 as well to new effects. Itd give him a better addon set for both sides.
-
@MrDardon said:
From my understanding, the cooldown Add-ons also reduce the bump duration. But there are also Add-ons which only reduce the bump duration.
What's the point of the bump Add-ons then? I can use Thompson's Mix + Greased Throttle to have a -20 % on all cooldowns, including bumping.
Or I can use Low Kickback Chains + Steel Toe Boots for a - 25 % on bumping. Those bump Add-ons seem a bit redundant now. The cooldown Add-ons on old old Billy didn't work on bumping for example, that's why the bump Add-ons had their own effect.
I never noticed if they effected bumping? Just the miss and hit cooldown? And ive tried both cooldown addons a good bit and i didnt notice any difference to my bump unless i ran the bump addons.
-
"Its just a tech guys!" Whenever any survivor strat is found. Lol. They said they were already patching it though so i wouldnt be to fussed.
-
the pig gets nerfed. i can foresee it.

I still love facing him and playing him. always did except for during overheat because it made him so unfun. Like others have stated i just wanna see his cooldown addons reworked and his overheat dissipation and stuff since one side is straight busted and the others are useless.

So you tell me you have not read the original thread then?
I am complaining about those addons. Which is already worse enough that they made this mistake AGAIN!
True, he does not have the original insta saw, its actually even worse.
idk the original instasaw allowed him to saw in 1.5 seconds. Thats hard to beat with the current one whos miss cooldown itself is like 2 seconds. so if you say missed then instasawed right after. still has more TTD than old lol. Sure he wasnt as fast in his older state but if were just talking about the saws down speed itself.
-
The problem is bubba and billys powers are very different. Bubba can land a saw and keep sweeping to hit through endurance or hit multiple survivors. He also has free control of his movement allowing him to sweep around loops very easily and basically confirm get rid of pallets over and over. Billys saw is normally straight and single hit. Its hard to compare them directly since they are used for a lot more different cases. And if bubba got his own buffs not just adding overdrive (since they said they want them to be different back when making overheat) itd probably split them even more.
-
@Trollinmon said:
Insta saw was stacking charge speed, and I think his brown version gave 12% alone. Think yellow+brown charge speed ended up giving 30% charge speed. You could also use tinkerer to increase that further.
yeah i dont get the thing saying "hes stronger than old instasaw" when with both the charge rate addons and tinkerer he had like 20% more charge speed than he does in his current form even with overdrive. And you also had all the other benefits like lesser bump, lesser cooldown. Ect.
https://youtu.be/Q9mTz0C2s1A?si=Ks1nA8V84v_1Rbl4And this was without tinkerer.
The only one i could find with tinkerer was montos video from back then.
https://youtu.be/42cc02bXQFI?si=x1HUv1FcMg1Cdo89Where the saw rev noise wouldnt even finish by the time he would hit you. Its hardly comparable to his newer version especially when his bump was near instantaneous with this build as well as you also see in montos video. so he could miss the saw. instadown you anyway. Bump. Instadown you anyway. Find you anywhere. instadown you anyway. They arent even close to "comparable"

Yes? He got coddled this patch he got straight up buffs you want to see who BHVR hates? Look at Sadako straight up nerfs just because he was a meme for 4 years doesn't mean he should be OP now he needs to either not down in overdrive or have his cooldowns nerfed you should have disadvantages for using your ability not being able to spam it non stop if you miss
i feel like some people forget the point of hillbilly is supposed to be a high mobility killer with a instadown, its in his description. Either way like most people have said they just need to rework the overdrive and cooldown add-ons and give him more balanced options because the cooldown add-ons are busted and the overdrive addons are worthless. And everyone already showed their feedback on the Sadako changes (me included because i hate they were told she was great on the ptb then nerfed her) . so much so the same day they announced shed be getting changes in the hotfixes. I do hope sadako comes out of this in better shape.
-
@MalekithHatesSnow said:
I'm just pissy that Hillbilly got so coddled he can use his chainsaw endlessly (which instadowns btw) almost no hit cooldown can speed across the map can speed across loops where you can barely react and if you're being back revved there's nothing you can do except hope for a window.
Meanwhile Xenomorph gets flamed constantly knocking him out of his chase ability, a tail attack. BHVR is so inconsistent with their counterplay balances
Coddled? Do we forget the overheat patch that literally took him from decent to bottom tier for FOUR YEARS? Like it was a meme bhvr hated him because of all the changes they did during the overheat period. (Like attempting to nerf engravings till everyone bashed on them) id hardly call that coddling.

@The_Yosh said:
I agree. I replied to a post recently comparing Bubba (my main) to Billy and highlighted how ridiculous the new Billy is. However, people seem to think he is balanced now.
For reference Billy:
-Has no cooldown.
-Has overdrive.
-Has no tantrum when he bumps, if he does bump, he can almost instantly use his saw again.
-He can eat through pallets and keep his chainsaw going.
-He can zoom across the map and get someone down within the first 10 seconds of the game.
-And he can stand just outside of anti face camp, feathering his chainsaw and waiting for someone to unhook, while making his power more powerful with overcharge.
Billy definitely has it good right now, and it is evident when we compare him to Bubba.
I mean at least if they buff bubba up theyll be equal eventually. Since he needs some help not just with comparing to billy. But before he whiped the floor with billy. After the patch where they nerfed billy and buffed him up. He became way higher tier than billy for 3 years. And Oni sweeped them both.
-
@Shuma said:
Billy was extremely powerful pre-buff, you just had to take time and learn him. No reason to have buffed him more. I guess we’ll see a Nurse buff soon.
...no he wasn't...he was c tier at best. Had a mechanic which punished him for using his power. Was extremely map depenant. Had addons that didnt even synergize with his power. Look into anything involving him before this patch and youd see that. He was bottom 5 for a reason. I dont get where people get this "he was fine in overheat stage" like bruh he was only used by 5 billy mains for curving games. Literally the general perception is he had a higher skill cieling than nurse. For none of her power.

Overheat was widely despised by the community, and for good reason.
That mechanic was as unnecessary as Freddy's rework in 2019. When it was first announced it was immediately met with disapproval by players on both sides, especially considering the developers said they were happy with how Hillbilly was performing.
No one ever asked for Hillbilly to be nerfed, there was never a reason to. The only problematic thing with Hillbilly was the Insta-Saw add-on combination, and even that was debatable once Tinkerer got removed from the equation.
As @supersonic853 said, Hillbilly just sucked to play after his nerf. A killer often praised as DBD's gold standard fell from grace due to a change that was never needed nor asked for.
Well said.

Well I'm sorry you think this way of SoloQ players and want to dismiss them as incompetent. I just dont observe this in the majority of cases.
SoloQ is just getting worse and worse to play. It's kind of a delima.
You can load up killer and just stomp everyone thats not a competetive SWF, and there was little challenge. Feel pretty terrible afterwards and... yay horray I guess?
Or you can load up SoloQ survivor and watch the usual tunnel/camp of your weakest teammate (and now grim embroke) strategy that killer mains seem to justify "because SWF destroys me otherwise". And then just laugh. ***
***This I think is the most interesting issue as you pointed out that you believe Solo's are just unwilling to learn, but then I see countless posts justifying tunneling out one survivor as quickly as possible.
Like which is it? Survivors are so bad at the game but then apparentely need to be tunneled/camped the entire match?
(Im not specifically saying you said you support tunneling one out ASAP I am just observing both these arguments being said, which contradict each other. You wouldnt need to tunnel one out ASAP if they were so unwilling to learn/bad)
Another contradiction I see is a buff like billy come into play. He is now the second strongest killer in the game, its just not where we should be placing killers in power currently. The community has been sick of blight for, as long as I have played this game honestly, and now here we are making a killer stronger than him? Why?
And just to restate for people that are posting "I dont like the overheat mechanic..."
oni probably doesnt like not having his power as well
Bubba doesnt like running out of chainsaw charges
Plague doesnt like running out of red puke
Meyers doesnt like running out of t3
Ghostface doesnt like running out of reveal
There was a reason he had overheat, and without it he just spams his one shot. Which with all of the current changes, in my opinion, is just unfair to play against.
Also i looked into that reddit page. Their main complaint was the cooldown addons. Never about overheat being removed. They even said further down its better for billy in his current version as long as they remove the cooldown addons. That plus the other videos i already showed you and im sure others youve seen in the past went overheat was revealed. I respect your opinion. But i think ill keep my killer i started with in 2017 without a hard limit or cooldown. We waited 3 years for it. Can't go back now.

3 seconds felt horrible in his overheat state. Its back to what it used to be so id rather they keep it at is and scrap the cooldown addons. Just my opinion. It might not be so bad with his new version just some overheat ptsd.
-
At least its better than the atrocity that was his overheat version. I agree with most people. Keep his current cooldown but rework the cooldown and the 4 overdrive addons that do absolutely nothing. Itd give him more options while fixing this issue. (Because the overheat dissipation addons you get the affect of by just tapping the saw for a second)

There was a reason he had overheat, and without it he just spams his one shot. Which with all of the current changes, in my opinion, is just unfair to play against.
Yet when overheat was introduced didn't everyone (even survivors) say it was way to dramatic for a killer who most said the only problems were his addons? His very design at the beginning was to be highly mobile with a one shot with little cooldown. Overheat contradicted that and took him from top 3 to like c tier. (Some people actually placed bubba above him because bubba can shred through loops easier) a good example being Otz's 7.5.0 tier list which he put him as a C-. Hell, Oni was higher than him and he doesn't even always have his power active? Clearly something with overheat was ruining his way to play. Whether it be the fact he had addons like i said that did absolutely nothing. He had a miss cooldown of like 3 seconds. They messed with his FOV and animations. Made the chainsaw louder. Ect. He just sucked to play. That was pretty much evident by how much he dropped off. So i'm glad they actually improved his flow in some way. In my opinion its one of the best reworks the game has gotten. And I doubt he's top 3. He still has to hard respect the maps. Lerys, Midwich, red forest and really any map with hard clutter hard limits his power.
Also current billys are laughing at these changes? I've seen Tats opinion. Ive seen hens (p100 billy) Rapidmain. Bronx (p100 legacy Billy). Zubat (former Billy main) Hell even people that admit they don't play him like Scott, Tru3, or Otz enjoyed him besides the cooldown being broken. So most of them agree they need to lower that only.
Also for proof on who hated overheat. Then look at the comments and see how much generally people hated the overheat mechanic.
https://youtu.be/HXuO_oQGM8I?si=-dZIrVU4_JuMc7q_ https://youtu.be/kncQz1_d6fk?si=5yNeTYAWmqyAuXL7And i think Ardetha is a good example of this with how he does his videos explaining the timeline behind the changes and he seems fairly 50/50 of killer and survivor and killer.

This is just not the case though.
Classic Sadako players could not stand the global condemn slug mechanic which has been removed. She received minor buffs to her basekit and pallet manifestation stun immune. So far decent changes for a pretty healthy state of Sadako. You still pub stomp if you have any experience on her. The range for condemn on the TV's is pretty fair I think as well.
Billy on the other hand is just being abused. A recent post I found here https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/1af3e8f/the_billy_update_is_completely_over_tuned_7k_hour/ kind of illustrates what I am talking about. It's extremely unfun to play against and outright overtuned type of play. Coupled with the current broken perk, grim embrace.
So did you think overheat was better where he was punished for literally using his power? Had addons that worked only while blinded? Had a miss chainsaw stun basically the same as a legion fatigue? And just felt so bad to play? Hell most people would tell you even if they brought back 2017 billy. He would not be good with what current characters can do. Because hes so map dependant. And his power is limited in loops. Overheat was BS and should never come back. They called it contriversial for a reason. So if overheat stayed because of sunk-cost fallacy. I hope overdrive gets the same treatment for billys sake. Hes gotten the funnest change from both sides ive seen. And its been very loved even from survivor players.

"I had hooked 2 people before her"
No.
It probably felt like tunneling to her, since she pretty much just got unhooked, but it objectively wasnt' tunneling.
Hmm yeah i guess. Like when your on the ball and you see a injured survivor you can just m1 and in the time they were on the hook and unhooked you got into chase with 2 other people sometimes i find myself accidental "light tunneling" or whatever. Like in the case i stated. Cheryl was there but the thought didnt cross my mind at the time. Since i had gotten jake and steve in that time then i just see them healing nearby so i can just bap the meg.
-
@Marc_go_solo said:
Not tunnelling, just poor Survivor plays. Those people will never improve as they cannot see their own errors; only always seeing it as a Killer issue.
Yeah probably.
-
@Volcz said:
No, that isn't tunneling. She had a chance to go somewhere safe & heal. She chose to stay nearby around an area you'd patrol & likely find her. Its entirely her & the Cheryl's fault.
Tunneling means focus targeting that 1 person whenever possible, to get rid of them as soon as possible. If you were tunneling her, you'd have gone right back to the hook when she was saved and gotten in chase with her immediately. You didn't do that, you gave her a chance. She squandered it.
Yeah, i had brought that up but she told me "well if i had DS or OTR you still woulda been hit by that wouldnt you?" I guess using DS and OTR as the measure for what tunneling is? Which yeah they wouldn't have been deactivated since she hadnt touched a gen or healed anyone. But im not so sure they are the end all be all of "punishing tunneling" since ive hit a OTR after hooking 3 other people before.

The only thing I dislike is the recovery time and the Add Ons. It makes missing Chainsaw Hits too forgiveable. In theory, Overdrive makes them also too forgiveable, because it rewards you for messing up, but at least currently I cannot really see getting more Hits with Overdrive than without Overdrive, it currently messes me up quite often. But might be something that needs to be looked at in the future if people got really used to Overdrive. (Both sides)
But then again, it would be unfair to nerf BIlly again while Nurse can exist and break the game...
I mean i can still see he has a higher ceiling than nurse for less reward. Especially now with overdrive curving with engravings. You have so much more margin for error and things to master. They did lower the skill floor by a good bit. Which is good because they said the original 3 are supposed to be easy to pick up. Yet billy was definitely the hardest. Also maps are still very much part of his balance. Don't see him being S. But possibly A now.
-
Im just playin him because i played him even when overheat was a thing. Glad to finally see him be appreciated for the first time in 3 years. Also we have this super saturation whenever something big changes. Ill bet you eventually itll normalize.
-
I will agree its not as strong as old eruption. You can do other stuff like heal and totems. Also after they hook you can just let go for a bit to wait for the block. And it has a hard limit. And it definitely does a good job of forcing survivors to do something else. But i won't exactly say its fun either since you basically get kicked off a lot. And theres other blocks like dms, thrilling tremors, and deadlock. So you can have gens blocked for minutes. So you just find yourself sitting around and waiting.
-

I agree it was ok to remove overheat.
However, in a single patch, removing the big negative of his power, adding a massive boost to his power in its place, AND buffing his base kit and add ons with basically zero drawbacks was way too much.
Game balance like this should be done progressively, and then see if more is needed, not all at once and just see what happens.
Its just the reverse of when they added overheat they thought he was "in a good spot" "the changes are minimal" then they added a insane drawback. Nerfed all his addons. And changed his animations in one patch to take him from top 3 to d tier.

Thats assuming the killer has a normal tr or a power that doesnt modify it in anyway as well. Its very niche at its job so itd be interesting to see it do something like old legion iri with a mapwide tr. Or at least have some better benefit then it currently does.

I feel like most people just see billy buffs and are on massive copium that he is perfectly fine now.
The only problem is maybe cooldown addons.

I've had a few hillbilly matches today and I can't tell you how unbelievably broken this killer feels now. The only thing they are all doing is endless chainsaw spams. I also had one injure me after breaking a pallet. Since when has that been a thing? I just don't understand the thought process that goes into these changes.
If you dont know what lopro is i don't know what to tell you on billys balance.

hes very good on console honestly i think one of the best dash killers on there since he has a lot more catchup and no real drawbacks. honestly glad i grinded so hard on getting all his addons up and prestiging him a lot.

Its very unfortunate. Hopefully she makes it out of this and they actually listen this time. We will have to see

I was never excited in the first place.
Sadako remake is kinda meh.
I dislike the Billy remake since it is probably overtuned. Another unloopable killer.
The 3-gen change is in reality another unneccessay killer buff. 8 regressions on a single gen will most likely almost never happen in your games so it is meaningless. I am fine with the gen tap counter which is already a significant killer buff, but why do they have to increase the 2,5% to 5%? Completly out of proportion.
What else do we have? Ah, a survivor, right? Is Alan Wake coming to the Fog with the next update? I am not even sure. Whatever, not interested to much. I dont care for the character nore the perks.
Last but not least, they bring back the Knight. Yeeeeiiii... actually no thanks. Should stay killswitched until the rework him properly.
Since when was billy unloopable? I see this going around but he has pretty much the same weaknesses as other killers? You get to a pallet and you just drop it. Then he breaks it. You vault a window. If he has bamboozle he can follow you and block it. Most of his rules are pretty much the same. And unless he masters curves and you just refuse to drop the pallet the saw still will be the same gameplay wise.

Glad im gonna be mostly playing billy and itll be with aura reveal. The deadlock, dms, grim embrace, and pain res Meta or something like it is gonna be horrendous. Ill give some of the survivors a break from it. Like they can still do other stuff like heal and do totems. So its not as bad as say old eruption. But it can be quite bad still.

Hey y’all, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. It’s clear that the changes we’re making to The Onryo didn’t live up to expectations, so we’re preparing a series of follow-up adjustments to address the feedback we’ve received. These adjustments are planned to release as part of the minor updates in the weeks following the Mid-Chapter. We’ll be sure to share more details once we have a plan locked in.
Thank you! @radiantHero23 theres hope! Hope billy and onryo can eventually both run off together in the future for the better of both of them!

With the dev update out, I wanted to see what kind of changes would be made from the PTB especially in regards to Sadako, Blight and the Hillbilly.
Sadako
I understand, that her PTB version with locked in condemned did promote tunneling and that this is not what we want. However, this change is pretty terrible because it only promotes slugging even more. Think about it: If you hook someone twice, you can lock in 4 stacks of condemned. That's 4/7th (a bit less because you still need to find and down them after applying the condemned stacks). But when you have that survivor hooked twice, why in the world would you go for a condemned kill, then? It's faster to try and hook them again.
But since Sadako is undeniably weak in chase, she will not focus on that. Instead, you will find players only chasing to get people off gens and then teleport to quickly spread condemned. There is no incentive to end a chase and there is no reason why they would waste their time hooking survivors. Slugging becomes her default play style again.
The 10 seconds cooldown to spreading condemned are understandable but a huge nerf none the less. A nerf that would need to come with some compensatory buffs. These however did not happen. Sadako would have been a somewhat decent killer, had you taken her from the PTB straight to live. But with both of these nerfs, you make her only viable play style (focusing on condemned over hooks) less of a threat and remove any incentive for her to hook survivors.
There were tons of feedback with ideas on how to make her just a little bit stronger and give her a little extra edge. None of that was used. Her second terrible addon pass was not updated. I can only think of this as laziness. Her addons are still terrible and there was enough feedback on it. The Ring Drawing is now more required than ever because otherwise tapes are no threat whatsoever.
Basically you managed to rework her into a weaker version of her original self. With all the downsides but none of the upsides.
Blight
C33 is probably in a better spot now. We'll see how it does, once the Blight mains have gotten used to it.
Blight Tag is still awful. Infinite Rushes are a bad design. It feels awful to play against because you have absolutely no counterplay and it's still pretty over the top because good Blight players will guarantee hits every 20 seconds anyway. This one needs a completely different effect.
Adrenaline Vial... Yes it's busted again. Congrats.
Hillbilly
Greased Throttle and Thompson Mix will be pretty good with these changes. Although, it makes me question if this is a good idea. Missing a chainsaw should still come with a draw back. Not as excruciating as it is on live servers but this seems like a bad idea. We'll see though.
Thermal Casing and Ragged Engine still won't be good. You are highly encouraged to use your chainsaw as much as possible, so the effects don't really come into play that often. They need new effects.
High Speed Idler Screw and Discarded Air Filter are still useless. These addons are by design not useful in any way. There is no niche to make them at least somewhat good. You could bring nothing at all and you'd still be in the exact same spot because all it takes for the heat to stop dissipating is revving the chainsaw for a moment. These 2 addons need entirely new effects. You could triple the numbers and they'd still be bad.
I am a bit sad to see that there is no change planned for the SFX volume of the chainsaw. We couldn't have possibly been more clear, that it was simply too loud. Please, turn that down by 30% (old Off-Brand Motor Oil value). You cannot expect people to play a killer that even on lower volumes causes earache.
Test it for yourselves. Just go into a custom game with normal volume and then run around with the chainsaw for a bit. After 10 minutes this becomes unbearable. It is a huge quality of life issue that would be quite simple to fix.
For those who havent seen yet.

The funniest part (im not gonna say about how sad i am about the update) was them calling onryos adapting "clever" for actually leading people through tvs to condemn them. Then they butcher it. Why?

If I had to choose which killer to nerf from that PTB (Sadako or Billy) it would of 100% been Billy. He was actually insane and I can already tell he's going to be complained about when he reaches live.
Might not be immediately, but I dont see him being the golden child for too long
Now, does that mean I think hes overpowered? No as I havent played enough of him and PTB has MMR all over the place, even moreso than usual. But from what I can see he might be a little overtuned.
Idk people just seem to enjoy how back and forth billy is. And maps are a big point to his value. He cant even play on maps like red forest and campbells like he could back then. Much more clutter over the years. People just seem to enjoy playing and facing him. Im glad to see him finally again. And i will probably enjoy him to face and to play infinitely more than the massacre that was overheat.
