I like it too. People are just used to the old version. It'll take time to get used to the new one.
No it's not about that. I don't mind change at all but the new HUD is terrible. I've seen the mockups made by the DbD community and they look ten times better than what BHVR came up with.

The majority hate the UI, only very few like it. Maybe those few enjoy playing mobile games and are used to seeing ugly and cluttered UIs.

The part everyone hates is how spread out the info is, while the current UI has all you'll need to know conveniently in the bottom left.
As some people have stated, it looks like a crappy mobile game hud. I'm inclined to agree.
If they're so strapped for room in the old UI why not just put the totally new stuff in the top left like the reworked one, While keeping the old stuff in the bottom left? Instead of screwing with an already great design.
The generic portraits too. They look really bad and out of place. I hope they change them and use the ones in this post instead.
-
Because it looks bad. The new HUD looks straight out of a mobile game and these portraits are ugly. Doesn’t suit the game at all. This one made by someone in the DbD community looks way better:

they addressed this today
Yes like they did months ago when the new MMR system went live, they said we wouldn’t see matchmaking like this anymore and if we’re playing a new killer we wouldn’t go against red ranks but that never happened and it was still trash. Hopefully this time it actually works correctly.

Keep in mind this is becoming the standard nowadays. Look at Call of Duty or Gears of War just for example. $60 games that have battle passes, weapon skins, character skins, lootboxes, absurd xp grinding systems, etc. Unfortunately these things are no longer unique to free-to-play games.
I don’t know what Gears of War is but CoD’s battle pass system is so much better than DbD’s. It’s not just filled with cosmetics, it also give you XP tokens and CoD Points. Also, the amount of quality content they release doesn’t compare. DbD is barebones with only one game mode, an awful battle pass and DLCs that are rushed and buggy.

I hate the battlepass system in this game. Even if you never enter the archives to select a challenge that blue screen with the Rift levels is always going to pop up after matches, saying "You just unlocked 1 Rare reward, claim it" and then you go to claim it only to discover it was inside the Premium Rift. That's just scummy marketing imo.
The grind system right now is a joke. You have to play so many hours just do be able to do a build that you want. Damned be you if you play more than one killer and want to get perks for them. Do the devs not know how horrible the grind is for new players? 5 of my friends already bought DBD and all of them got bored in less than a month due to how dull the gameplay is when you don't have perks to experiment with.
Let's also not forget BHVR's latest tendency of releasing incomplete DLCs with full-price. PH got nerfed (actually buffed without knowing, great balance decision) and Silent Hill perks got changed only months after. Until today we don't have an ETA of when Blight's POV and collision bugs will be fixed. The whole Binding of Kin chapter was a disaster, full of bugs and probably the worst killer they have ever released since old Legion. At this point the whole PTB premise is a joke and I don't even know why they do it anymore. The last patch notes had the "known issues" section bigger than the entire patch itself, and it didn't even include all of the bugs.
DbD’s battle pass system is one of the worst I’ve ever seen. The pop up notification you mention is indeed scummy. I also hate that the battle pass has so many empty spots, why not give us bloodpoints or shards? Also, why can’t we accept more than one challenges instead of having to accept and complete only one challenge at a time? The battle pass system and the challenges need rework. The bloodweb needs rework too if they don’t want to lose new players.
I agree that the latest DLC was a disaster, both very unfinished and full of bugs. A complete joke.

Do you expect your criticism to produce results? If so, how?
Even if it didn’t what is wrong with making a post that discusses these things? Why keep quiet? Or do you think the forum should only be filled with posts praising the devs and the game? This is what I think of the game and it seems a lot of people feel the same. Whether or not my criticism or anyone else’s will produce results is really up to the devs.

Oh i dont care about adding any input. I didnt even read your long winded reply. I just wanted to suggest done play, theres tons of other games to play, if you dont like this ones set up, then dont play it. Show them that way.
If you don’t care then why did you click on this post, why did you read it, why did you feel the need to add your pointless comment? If you’re going to be rude and not bother reading other people’s replies, replies that actually contribute to the discussion because maybe you find reading too difficult then don’t bother at all. If you disagree with my post then say why. If you disagree but don’t have any reasons then simply don’t say anything. Move along. Go play a game or something. You’re clearly just one of those people who will respond with “then don’t play” in every post that criticizes the game and to every person that expresses a different opinion from you.

If none of this puts you off then more power to you, but most of the DBD community doesn't feel that way.
there are aspects of it that do put me off. instead of senselessly whining on the forums without a unified voice, i simply don't buy into them. the pressure of the rift and the disaster that was the hallowed blight "event" put me off enough to make me take about a month break, delete my old account on here, and come back with a fresh mindset
if they go too far there will be universal outrage and they will cave to the pressure. being whiny all the time doesn't help for #########.
Senselessly whining? Criticism to you is whining? In what way is this post ‘whiny’? You think deleting accounts is a better idea? It is good to criticize a game and discuss how it can be improved than deleting accounts and not saying anything.

That's not adding any input buddy, as players we're customers at the same time. We can criticize as much as we want but ultimately it's the developers decision on what they want to implement. Sure you can go ahead and vote with your wallet since they could be just keeping count of the amount of money they're getting, but not all of the staff would be like this. As for the gaming feeling free2play I also had this in mind the very first time I played, I wondered how this felt like a mobile game that you could play for an hour or two and then move on to a different game or do what you have to.
Going by the playerbase, they probably could add other fun gamemodes such as "kill with your friends" but they can't due to the amount of players the playerbase has for this game at the moment, but that's my theory. I have used other graphs before but the peak players this game tends to have now is about 54k players. From march all the way to july of 2020 there seemed to be a gain in players but that was most likely due to new DLC and cosmetics. These are steam charts btw, this may not be including console players in this graph.
As much as I would love new game modes I also think the playerbase is too small for that. DbD has one game mode only and the queue times is long at times. If I were to choose between a new Chapter or a new game mode though I would definitely go for a new game mode. DbD came out 4 years ago after all and the gameplay can sometimes become dull after a while so a new game mode would be a nice change.

I think they should really make it free to play. I mean for me it is bc of playstation plus.
So with the playstation plus gift two years ago they have data. They should know what impact making the base game free on their income has.
So i can think of two reasons why they dont do it.
1. They would make less money in the long run
Or
2. Making it free after so many paid for it, creates too many problems
- But they have DLCs and in-game MTX.
- There are games that went free to play after they were paid. Rocket League is one recent example and they rewarded the players who owned the game before it went free. DbD can do something similar.
-
Okay?

Ok so I’ve been searching and I found the below info and based on this I’m pretty sure we’re being connected to Asia Pacific (Singapore) since most of the players in my lobbies are from that region. Being connected to this server is not ideal at all and is the reason behind the high ping problem.
"For now, we will have centers located in the following areas:
- US East (Ohio)
- US West (N. California)
- South America (São Paulo)
- EU (London)
- EU (Frankfurt)
- Asia Pacific (Singapore)
- Asia Pacific (Seoul)
- Asia Pacific (Tokyo)
Depending on the demand, we may add new regions in the future. We will be closely monitoring the performance with these regions for the time being."
And as you can see, all the servers in Asia are located in the East. Why not add an ‘Asia West’ server? There needs to be one. @Almo I’m hoping I could get your input here, plus you seem to be the only one from the dev team who visits the forum.
-
I don’t mind farming. Some farming matches are even more fun than the serious matches.
-
@Brhoom said:
Middle Eastern here, 180 ping.
The player base isn't large in the ME and queue times would be horrible if they dedicated a server just for us. I'll take quick matchmaking over low ping in this scenario.
Never said we want a server just for us but rather to be connected to a server that is geographically closer to us. The game doesn’t show us which server we’re connected to so only the devs know. I mostly play with people from Thailand, China, Singapore, Malaysia and Russia. I also sometimes get connected with players from France and the United States. It doesn’t make sense.

@Zaytex said:

What’s your ping like though? Also you say for the last week, we’ve been dealing with this issue for years lol.
-
Mods, can you please move my post to Feedback. I prefer if it gets buried there instead of here, perhaps someone from the BHVR team might come across it some day. I give up.
-
Had no idea it could also mean that the killer is camping.
-
I think it will stay like that forever since the devs don’t know how to fix it.
-
Only crossplay.
-
It is frustrating that we are being ignored because we’re not in NA or EU. And what frustrates me more is when the devs think it’s more important to respond to basic silly discussions here like “what’s your favorite perk” or “who’s the strongest killer” instead of discussions about important issues. I mean I don’t mind it but when they disregard serious topics most of the time and instead pay attention to these silly posts whenever they’re online it gets annoying. And don’t even get me started on the “community” managers, they barely exist.

The game has set such an incredibly high bar for new players. Given the state of matchmaking it's all too common to have someone with hundreds if not thousands of hours competing against someone who just started, which is why it boggles my mind that there is still not a proper training mode. Obviously bots will not be as efficient as an actual human being, but they can still help provide a decent challenge and let newcomers get their bearings straight while they practice the basics.
It's the reason why DBD has a dwindling player base of killers. BHVR can throw as many login bonuses our way as they want, but it's not going to get newcomers to stick around.
Also with a Training Mode they can learn the maps and familiarize themselves with the tiles. Would be good for old players too when a new map releases. The mobile version added a training mode only 3 months after the initial release so there’s no reason for a version that released 4 years ago not to have one.

Thanks for keeping us in your prayers. Lol. Seriously though, I hope I get a response from one of the devs or at least one of the community managers even though I know they’re not really active here. This problem has been going on for far too long. I won’t rest until they see this :)

We’ve been asking for a Training Mode for years. I was surprised when I saw out the mobile version added a Training Mode before the original PC/console versions.

I'm the kind of person who spends a lot of money on cosmetics in almost all of the games I play, so maybe I'm biased, but in my opinion the prices are fine. They're on-par with most other games (fortnite, Apex, identity v, etc), and they allow you to buy exactly what you want. No needless bundles that make you spend 20 dollars to get the one item you want out of the 5 items in the bundle, no loot box/gacha system that fuel gambling addictions and make you rely on luck and rng, and absolute customizability among the options you have. In fortnite, you pay 8-20 dollars for a skin that you can't mix and match. Dbd has entirely reasonable prices.
Are you serious?? Literally every game you mentioned is FREE TO PLAY. Is Dead by Daylight free to play? No! On top of the base game DbD also has a lot of DLCs and cosmetics and they are very expensive. How is this *fine*??? It is absolutely not fine.

Lol hell no. This doesn’t seem like a good idea at all.
-
No. You say it’s because you encounter many PC players exploiting and hacking. I honestly don’t buy it. Many of us who play on PC haven’t encountered a single hacker. You can also see DbD streamers, some of them stream for more than 8 hours and some even do 24 hour streams and they don’t encounter a single hacker. I’m not saying there are 0 hackers in the game but if there are any they are very very rare, you could put more than 500 hours into the game and not encounter any.
-
No one knows? I’m asking because I don’t remember seeing this before.

Don't worry, there's similar codes for other regions, that also have 25k uses on them.
Usually someone will reply to the original Twitter post with the other region's codes
Who’s this someone? Someone from BHVR?
-
They couldn’t even add a training mode and you want them to add an entirely new game mode? I bet the mobile version will have a new game mode before the PC/console versions do, they added a training mode there after all.

I missed it because they tweeted this at 5 AM :)

I know, it doesn't make sense. If they want to keep doing this they should make the base game F2P.

Who said it wasn't bad anymore and that it doesn't need a rework. They reworked it twice already because of complaints. Didn't you read what the topic was about? Jesus.
Because it doesn't count. Still the majority of the DbD community are complaining and have been complaining for years but we've yet to see a real actual rework. Also, you gotta chill.

You think this is bad then you should have seen 2016 back then you wouldn’t get a perk until you were level 5 and you had to get to level 25 to get all 4 perk slots and the characters teachable perks weren’t unlocked at the start and there was no entity to consume the web so it was much worse
That doesn’t mean it’s not bad anymore. The grind still is pretty bad and the bloodweb still needs a rework.
-
@steezo_de said:
All the time: map sizes and tiles, perk nerfs and buffs, killer changes, Rift changes, bloodweb grind and daily reward changes... Yes, they listen to requests. They also have to listen to both sides as well decide what direction they want to go so it might not be exactly what you want, but it might be too. It all depends.
Bloodweb grind? The bloodweb is still awful and grindy as ever.

In a game where there is no tutorial and these players are often being thrown to high ranks, yes, there should be something to allow them training wheels until they figure out how to play the game.
Not saying that the mori nerf didn't need to happen, but it did help out lower skill players in dealing with people whom they shouldn't be playing with. And I think the OP's point in bringing that up was that new players have zero training wheels and it makes for a very hostile experience that drives many away.
I still can’t believe the mobile version got a Training Mode while PC and console DbD did not.
-
What is wrong with these devs? What are their priorities exactly? How many posts do they need, how many players do they want to lose before they do something? So many great ideas have been posted on the forum on what the devs can do to reduce the grind, posts that are years old, why have they not taken these ideas into consideration and then made it happen? The grind is awful, BHVR should do something about it if they want new players to stick around.
-
The perk grind is awful and it gets worse with every new release, a lot of players agree with that. Removing perk tiers will reduce the grind and improve the game a lot. I don't know why BHVR doesn't comment on this even though this has been suggested numerous times before. I also like the 'Double Blood point on first 1-2 weeks' idea.
-
I took a break from the game for a few months and I came back to the same issues. Are the devs really that incompetent? So frustrating.
-
Yes. No reason for console players not to have access to the chatbox. They added crossplay so they should add crossplay messaging.
