  • Surveillance is very good for her, can sneak back over to a surv on a gen who thinks you’ve left. Or, if you prefer, Discordance.

BBQ is good for everyone but on pig allows you to head over there then sneak (don’t use sneak too much as you’re too slow)

on that note, Monitor & Abuse allows you to get closer full speed before you have to crouch for stealth.

Sloppy Butcher is decent because survs off hooks who have bear traps will take a long time to heal if they focus on removing it. Or, Thanatophobia to make use of their injuries or prompt healing which then lets RBT timer run.

You might want the typical build for loopintg/stuns because she isn’t great (enduring spirit fury Bamboozle brutal strength etc) but I personally have fun and success with:

Surveillance, M&A, BBQ & Sloppy Butcher

  • I like to switch it up, especially if I’m playing solo or whether I’m playing with friends.

Solo, I’m always having Kindred, so it isn’t a case of everyone thinking ‘ah, someone else’ll get the rescue’ and then I pointlessly go into the struggle phase.. and Bond is super useful.

With friends, WGLF works well because by you can communicate when it’s safe to rescue, and BT cos I want my friends to live :D I also love using Alert to keep them up to date with where the killer is

  • Just run Make Your Choice, if a survivor who unhooked someone tries to take a protection hit for them, which does happen often especially with SWF, Make Your Choice will have them down in one hit.

As already said, protection hits are inconsistent and to me they aren’t a big issue. There are perks that benefit from having multiple people injured, such as Thanatophobia, and if you had Nurses Calling you can easily re-locate them and perhaps the other survivors too. Could even run Franklin’s Demise to punish those who get in your way, or use Sloppy Butcher.

  • Ruin, BBQ, PGTW and surveillance

I would make the following changes on Offerings.

All offerings are secret or team based. A survivor shouldn't be able to dc against a mori. A killer shouldn't be able to dc against bad mist. (Fair Gameplay)

Secret - Nobody sees the offerings other than the one they put. This would make it more dependent on your knowledge of how certain offerings work together rather than being told straight out.

Team Based - The team (Survivors) see all survivor offerings, killer only sees theirs.

I would also implement new offerings.

Ones that grow/shrink the exit gate distance once they manage to balance them to a set distance range. (This makes EGC both Killer and Survivor Friendly)

Killer Offering - Hatch change keeps requirement of 2 gens completed. This could be a surprise for those teams that dc to unlock hatch at 5 gens remaining. Not only did you think you would exploit dcing or chose to suicide, you lost points for nothing. (Should have stayed in the game)

The following two weigh the game in the favor or balance out how a game would be played. More gen spots would be needed.

Killer Offering - Closer Gens (Proximity between gens will be shorter)

Survivor Offering - Farther Gens (Proximity between gens will be larger)

Totems: This can create fun mix-up in meta.

With this change I would give Small Game a counter for Totems, and Traps (Separated)

Killer Offering - Extra totems! (Add 2 dull totems extra to the map)

Survivor Offering - Reduce Totems (Remove 1 totem from the map)

Killer &/ Survivor Offering - All Knowing (For the first <time frame> seconds of the match see everyone's aura)

I’d love all offerings to be secret. Even the BP offerings, everyone turns into a farmer when they see 3 bloody party streamers and gruesome gateaux at the start.... which is annoying if you’re a killer or survivor, when people play differently to try and get the most of the BP. And I agree it should be less obvious when a Mori is played, or make at least 3-5 more offerings secret so it isn’t guaranteed that a secret = mori.

  • I’m happy to see some love for Alert. I love the amount of times per trial I get to see the killer, and always funny when someone’s being chased and you see the killer repeatedly eating palettes.

Good idea, but what about 3 gen camping killers? I do this sometimes on the doctor with impossible skillchecks build, although I use surveillance instead of lullaby. These games often last more than 30 minutes..

I think as long as SOME work is done, even just tapping the gen and leaving again

  • It may be frowned upon to use NOED but you won’t be frowning when you kill everyone in the end game :) especially if it’s a game of 4 man SWF who spend the game antagonising you and thinking they’re invincible. Nothing quite as satisfying as the first down, who is none the wiser.

  • I would just like to add that this post was more for advice than to officially brand this as taking the game hostage. I’m still not entirely sure whether it counts, however in my opinion it does. There aren’t actual guidelines as to what counts and doesn’t, and as @TragicSolitude mentioned, there’s no way for the game to progress. I’m not expecting any survivors to ‘let themselves get hooked’ but I in no way prevented them from working on the gens in fact I wanted them to so I could find them them.

@fluffymareep stealth is not against the rules, no, however If it isn’t their intention to use stealth to do objectives, then this isn’t as matter of stealth being the issue. And body blocking is a different category, if a killer stands on the basement stairs and traps in survivors, that’s body blocking plus taking the game hostage. However taking the game hostage can exist without body blocking/contact.

while you might know if they did totems, how do you know they not just sabotaged every hook on the map to 99%? Just asking. But for a real answer, which rank were you playing?

Rank 8 and yeah that’s true they could have but as far as I remember they had no items

  • @jeyers said:

SWF or not, if you can't find half (50%! 2/4) of the survivor team then thats on you as a killer not them as survivor or SWF.

    It’s totally not but okay.

The killer is the hunter, survivors aren't just going to freely go get hooked for no reason.

So it is clearly a "get gud" situation if the hunter can't find anyone.

It’s not the case of survivors not getting themselves hooked. It’s survivors most likely SWF making no gen progress for 15 minutes and doing nothing else.

This kind of thing is the reason I love Whispers and playing a killer who can hide his/her terror radius.

I had survivors do this to me on a killer I hadn't unlocked Whispers on, yet. Once I realized they had no intention of touching gens, I started searching around the edge of the map. I finally found one hiding between a rock and the outer wall; the other one was crouching nearby.

If survivors have no intention of touching the gens, they'll probably go to areas with no unfixed generators nearby, in order to better avoid the killer. I think they're more likely to be around the edge of the map than in the middle, but any area without an unfixed generator is worth searching. Wherever you normally wouldn't bother going as killer, that's where hiding survivors will gravitate.

Beyond that, persistence. If you really can't find them or can't keep playing, just go afk. They'll either have to disconnect themselves or finish the gens and escape. Either way, you keep your bloodpoints.

It'd be nice if the game did something if no gens were touched within a certain amount of time, but survivors would probably just get around that by tapping a gen and going back into hiding.

Thanks for the tips. Whispers would definitely have shortened that game by a mile

  • Ooh that is a great idea

    @AetherBytes said:

A good idea is to fake AFK, preferable near a gen so you can see it. See if they come up to taunt you or to work on the gen. Else a good idea is just to outwait them.

  • @RoKrueger said:

If you can't find some pesky survivors, then you are a lousy killer. You have to think like your prey and check usual hidding places. Playing as survivor once in a while helps.

It’s nothing to do with skill. I actually play both just as much and sadly I wouldn’t know how to think like a pesky survivor because I’ve never decided to hide from the killer for over ten mins and do no work.

  • @BloodMoneyMerc said:

They should get flying crows over their head that make noise and give notifications if they aren't doing anything. That's how that problem is usually solved for me.

I don’t think they kept completely still just crouching around the map hiding when I’m closer by

  • Surveillance is excellent for gen control especially whilst in shroud. I’ve got more than a few gen grabs & exposes on people who have started on a gen as soon as I turn my back thinking they’re sneaky.

  • Or perhaps a token based system, per safe hook rescue gain a token (plus 25% BP).

1-4 can be anything, aura, haste, action speed buff etc.

if you have 4, the next time you rescue someone from the hook, the killer receives no notification.

  • I believe it should have another effect, perhaps after performing a safe hook rescue, receive a 2/3/4% increase to action speed for 40-60 seconds or something. It’s so good for the BP but always makes me wonder if it’s worth it when I have other perks that would have helped more.

and it’s not as if it would be “too OP” to have BP and a buff - look at BBQ & Chilli, an amazing aura reading perk ALSO gives stackable 25% bloodpoints per hook.

  • Ive had two games where the person who unhooked me followed to heal, failed the skill check multiple times, then ran and hid leaving me to the killer to be hooked again. Either finish the job or don’t even bother starting!

  • @Bbbrian2013 Yeah I know I know but.... one can hope for the extra 2 hours, could make a world of difference XD

I'm just referring to a "Score Event" for the killer. Each killer has different actions that give them different point rewards. Most of which go towards the Deviousness category. But some killers just by the nature of their ability also make the other categories easier to fill too.

This wiki page explains it better than I ever could probably and also lists all the Score Events and what category they fall into:

    Ooh thank you!!

As a killer main.... I support your choice of not wanting Ruin and would suggest not relying on it. There are a couple killers that NEED it like Trapper and Hag because they need setup time at the start of the game, but other killers can absolutely do without it if you learn to pressure enough.

As for why Doc/Legion for BP farming (and I saw someone say Wraith too): They are killers that are easy to complete their special scoring events. Doc can easily shock people repeatedly, Legion can easily hit people in Feral Frenzy, Wraith can easily uncloak and get a first hit. Some of the other killers are a bit tougher to get their special scoring events done which is where a lot of your extra BPs will come from.

    What’s a special scoring event?

but yeah, no a fan of ruin because of how quickly it’s eliminated, the second someone touches a gen and notices, everyone sets out to destroy it. DH is a little more subtle.

  • Not sure I want ruin but I definitely want Devour Hope so will have to tackle her eventually.

    @itsDorkMagic said:

As others have said, David King for WGLF is probably priority #1. If you play killer as much or more than you play survivor, BBQ & Chili from Cannibal probably should be next. As for survivor side, Dwight after David for Prove Thyself, which will also give you another excellent perk in Bond. From there it's honestly mostly gravy, but I'd go for Iron Will from Jake and Hex: Ruin from Hag after those.

  • @Vlieger said:

The amount of stuff to unlock when you start playing fresh at this point is quite overwhelming. For BP farming I would recommend playing as Leatherface and using BBQ. Play him, and put BPs into him, until you can unlock BBQ as a teachable perk.

Then try to get BBQ lvl 3 on a good BP farming killer such as Doc or Legion.

what makes them good BP farming killers? Also thanks for the tips

  • @Well_Placed_HexTotem said:

For BP, level up David King for WGLF. Also Dwight for Prove Thyself.

Killers, level up Bubba for that sweet sweet BBQ. Potentially Hag for Ruin.

Use Wraith and Doctor for ez BP gains.

How come Wraith and Doc for BP?

  • @George_Soros said:

You can actually farm a lot with survivor. Usually you get more BP per game if you play killer. But if you play survivor and use Prove Thyself and We're Gonna Live Forever, you can max out Objective points very fast, and then some. Once Objective BP is maxed, just play boldly, get chased, and don't worry if you get killed. This just means your games are shorter, so overall your BP gain over time is faster.

Borrowed time is also useful for getting those WGLF stacks. Just don't forget, a stupid save is still a stupid save, even with BT... try not to farm your teammates too much.

EDIT: yea sorry just noticed you don't have WGLF yet. Get that first. It's a blessing.

Thanks for the advice, David King first then

  • Yeah that would help for when the ambush misses which it normally does because of how much time survivor has to react.

    @Ihatelife said:

I also think that ambush attacks should be more rewarded than normal hits. Maybe reduced cooldown?

i mean making it broken status would be certainly worth to use ambush even though its hard 2 pull off

Broken could work nicely. Ambush attacks are time consuming and harder to land because of the warning, broken would be a good reward and motivation.

  • Yeah, I’m not sure then. Mangled perhaps, just SOME reason why anyone would want to use the ambush attack instead of stand + hit. It’s a real shame :(

Myers is the most exciting because there are many ways he can be played. I guess the real scariest killer is the one that hasn't been made yet, cause I wonder what weird and crazy mechanics I got to deal with next.

The least scary - pig, she is more cute than scary, especially when she squeaks after I slam a pallet on her.

Her little squeal is very cute lol.

  • @Groxiverde said:

The scariest thing I have ever seen in DbD is probably a Leatherface with tinkerer... I still have nightmares..

Yeah, Leatherface scares me a lot, some times I think he’s cute other times he’s absolutely terrifying especially when he just appears swinging his chainsaw like a maniac.

  • @George_Soros said:

Hag with M&A can be quite disturbing. Obviously Myers too, but 90% of my games I run Premonition so he just has no chance for jumpscares. Pig is so weak I find myself completely unable to get scared by her, despite her stealth.

For me it’s just her slow crouch walk that I find quite scary, or when you see her go skulking past. I think her design is pretty creepy paired with a creepy crawl.

  • @premiumRICE said:

spirit hag and myers ######### scare the hell out of me when i step on trap or they appear from nowhere.

Design might be billy, interesting story

Yeah I’ll admit to the odd scream when I trigger a hag trap (or multiple at once) DX

  • Favourite killer: Pig to play as, Spirit aesthetically

Favourite survivor: Feng with her cute blue hair

  • Id like to combine Spirit’s phasing ability with leatherface’s chainsaw - phase over to where you hear a gen being worked on or where someone’s unhooking and then unleash hell >:)
