You also won't be able to use that perk if you are tunneled for real if you loop the killer for more than 1 minute...

Also even if you get downed before that, they can slug you for a few seconds then hook.

This. They need to remove the timer, and make it deactivate solely based on doing any progressive interaction that other than being chased by the killer/vaulting/pallets/etc.

Also not opposed to it being active after both hooks, because again, as long as you aren't progressing the objectives, I see no harm in it being active if the killer decides to come after you repeatedly.

Why do you need to pour oil in the fire when it currently calmed down? Why are you doing this?

Spare me. I’m obviously not referring to people who tried to bring up constructive criticisms.

But plenty of killer mains who have spent all this time calling the devs “useless” “incompetent”, “stupid”, etc. are now suddenly professing their love for them and how great they are.

The hypocrisy is ridiculous, and hopefully next time something they don’t like happens, they remember this, and remember that the devs DO care about their side.

So killers let's hear the "Devs are so survivor-sided they don't care about us killers" talk. Come on. My morning cup of coffee doesn't taste bitter enough without it.

    This.

DS was definitely abusable and problematic, but the killer mains that have been shitting on the devs now changing their tunes and saying how much they love them? Hilarious.

You are a survivor, not a hero. You are normally with three other people whom you do not know and with whom you cannot chat. It is literally the lore of the game. You are the prey of the Entity, subjected to a bloodthirsty killer. You are supposed to cooperate only to keep yourself alive.

But I understand, it's so much easier and more fun to play in assisted mode (SWF), to ridicule the killer, to have no challenges and, above all, not to have to learn to play.

    SoloQ is difficult? Git gud.

Sorry, but this sentiment is the most stupid and dismissive thing I've read on here recently, and you clearly sound like someone who doesn't play solo q often, if at all.

While most of your points are actually valid, the fact that you don't realize/won't acknowledge how ######### of a state solo q is in currently speaks volumes to your bias.

  • So you're basing this entirely on... one pip.

    Adios, friend

  • @Blueberry said:

I never run it because it's over powered and I don't need crutches to win on survivor.

That said there's always at least 2 survivors minimum every game running it.

You say this as if "winning" on survivor is only ever determined by your own abilities. Unless you play SWF - then that explains it all.

But for us solo qs out there, DS is basically an insurance policy to make up for the mistakes of your teammates, not yourself.

  • I'm really hoping we get two back to back licensed chapters in March and June, and that both are RE and F13.

A dream come true, I'd need no other licenses again.

They didn’t attack op or swear or throw a tantrum (like you just did), they asked a simple question. Not really that hard to understand.

  • Because hitboxes make her hatchets operate like homing missiles.

  • As a solo q survivor, I rank up so I can have some decent shot at escaping and playing a good game.

Teammates purple or lower are just terribly unreliable. They are in red ranks too, but not as much.

  • Why do killers think Haddonfield is so bad?

I'm not asking this sarcastically or anything, I just don't really play killer (and def haven't on Haddonfield the occasional time I do) so I don't know what the experience is like, and I'm curious.

  • Just as an aside, I'm a survivor main and agree with almost any proposed change to DS I've seen, except one:

The whole "deactivates when someone else is hooked" idea needs to be thrown in the garbage. This would be beyond abuse-able and just tilt the toxicity to the side of the killer.

For example, an injured survivor safely removes someone from a hook, DS activates for 30 seconds in this proposed changed. A Spirit immediately teleports back, hooks the injured survivor, then tunnels the first one who just got off - but wait, they don't have DS anymore, and this happened in 10-15 seconds.

That's still tunneling, and needs to be accounted for.

  • I love the game.

    Sometimes, I hate the community.

While the last is a good tip, i stopped doing that. I did that a long time, just to be the one trowns under the bus time and again, especially if the others were swf. Because if they already on death hook, they simply wont come to your rescue, even against a non camping killer.

This is true, and it is conditional. For example, if someone's already on their death hook and a single gen hasn't been done yet for some reason, I wouldn't recommend that tip.

If, however, there's maybe 1 or 2 gens left, and everybody has been playing pretty optimally for the most part, it's definitely worth giving a hook up.

To OP: like I said, just observe everything that you can, and make determinations based on those.

  • A lot depends on who your teammates are, honestly. Observe what your team's strengths are. You have to be a chameleon who adapts to the flaws of the people you're playing with.

Can they not hold chases for long? Try to be the one that diverts the killer's attention.

Are gens not getting done but they're holding their own? Be the gen jockey.

Kindred is a must-have perk, and lately so is DS for solo qs, though I didn't use it for a long time.

Also, know the hook statuses of your teammates. If you haven't been hooked yet and you know someone on their death hook is gonna go down, try to take that one for them to prolong having 4 survivors as much as possible.

  • I can only speak as a solo q player, and I can definitely see how a SWF situation can be problematic with this perk.

But DS, as it is right now, is borderline needed as a solo player. The killers I encounter try to tunnel people right out of the game (no, not due to teammate's mistakes, bad plays, etc) in more than half the matches I play. It's really bad.

I'd imagine the reason the perk remains untouched is because they're having a hard time finding the right way to balance it between solos and SWFs.

Kindred always has, and always will have a hard cap of 24m for reading the killers aura. So currently right now, more than one open handed doesn’t affect Kindred. It’ll be the same with the new open handed change. Killer aura reading will still cap at 24m.

Damn, I misinterpreted the change. Thanks for the heads up!

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1850696#Comment_1850696

    LOL no.

If you want, make it so suicides can't happen. No struggle QTE nonsense, and survivors can't suicide. But for goodness sake don't penalize people for dying on hook, especially since it can even be accidental if on 2nd stage. And heck maybe they were just legit trying to get off the hook! Maybe they had a luck offering, Open Handed and had Slippery Meat. Slippery Meat is barely used as it is, now you want to render using it bannable? Come on.

Most people suicide on first hook usually because they're in a crappy matchup. Usually pink axe Huntress or stuff like that. It's fine. I get it. I don't suicide but I definitely feel like killing myself whenever I run into a sweaty R1 pink huntress slugging all of us within the first 2 minutes. It's stupid but the game is broken like that.

It's good that they finally nerfed pink moris, I've seen people who suicide when they see a mori on a tunneled first survivor within the first few minutes.

When the game stops being a ridiculously bad experience for some solo q survivors you'll see less suicides and DCs. Penalties do not help.

You hit on a good point here - a lot of suicides and DCs are solo q survivors, who are BY FAR in the worst position right now in the game.

People can talk about "killer sided" and "survivor sided" all they want, but they fail to pay attention to the fact that the survivor experience is completely different depending on if you do SWF or not.

  • If they secured Jason somehow, that would be monumental.

More realistically, I'd love a RE chapter, since it could coordinate well with the Netflix show coming out some time this year.

  • I still think the second hook should operate similar to PH's cages, where you have to hit skill checks to "struggle", and if you miss them, you're at least still in the game even if your bar is going down.

This would solve the main problem while still providing survivors with a quicker way out if nobody comes to save them. A win-win for both sides.

  • Loving all the Cheryl love in here, I'm a 90% Cheryl main who tries to never engage in toxic behavior, or if I do something to come across toxic, it was accidental/unintentional.

I'm glad my fellow mains are similar and that killers notice lol.

  • Every time the Hag bursts out of a trap with that stupid gurgle of a scream, I want to punch her repeatedly

  • I can understand preferring to play a normal game to farming, but I don't understand why some people get so inflamed about farming.

While playing a good normal game is also the most ideal to me, I'd much rather have a chill farming game than face a slugging, camping, tunneling killer - even if they're allowed to play this way/it's "strategy", it's lame and a bigger waste of time imo.

  • First off: play however you want - as long as you aren't being harmful or toxic, you're fine.

With that being said, Left Behind and Self-Care aren't very beneficial to the team as a whole, that's true. Self-care just takes too long and buys the killer more time to chase others, patrol gens, etc. The other two, I see no qualms with. A lot of players find Urban annoying, but if it keeps you alive longer to help the team, then it's doing it's purpose. Not everybody has to run to gens like lunatics.

A good perk alternative to Self-care (if you have it) is Inner Strength - this provides a benefit to the team as a whole (by cleansing totems) and still allows you to heal yourself independently of others (and way quicker, too - Self-care takes 32 seconds, Inner Strength takes anywhere from 8-10 depending on the tier). Med-kits are also obviously good for this as well.

Left Behind really only has one use and it's a very scattershot chance that use will work in your favor anyway. I can't think of a perk that works better for this purpose, but on the other hand, a rainbow map or a regular map with the Black Silk Cord add on will do the job for you while also opening up a perk slot.

HOWEVER, overall you have no obligation to run perks only because other people want you to. Play what's fun and engaging for you.

  • I truly think by using Victor as their guinea pig, they're getting ready to implement a Chucky licensed chapter. His license wouldn't be as hard to lock down the rights to as bigger series would be since they stopped going to theaters after a certain point, yet he still has the name recognition and notoriety of being one of the bigger killers in horror history.

    It's the perfect chapter honestly.

  • I initially started DBD because I prefer to game alone, and playing solo queue with no chats turned on allowed me to do this in an online game I was interested in.

But yeah, it's almost impossible to do anything in solo queue at this point except worry about your own points. And in turn, you see more and more teammates being selfish and out for themselves BECAUSE of this very reason.

    And then the cycle continues.

  • 1). The ability to opt into a role for dailies, with the ability to switch roles whenever you want.

    or

2). Up to four dailies instead of 3, with 2 for survivors and 2 for killers at all times, as a balance.

  • Map awareness and memorization is everything. I found that I used to be terrified of being chased because I was so bad at it. But learning the maps and paying attention to landmarks/killer shack/how the layout typically works made a world of difference.

I wouldn't say I'm the best survivor ever at chases, but I can definitely run a killer for 2-3 gens before getting downed, versus, for the longest time, always getting downed in 20 seconds.

Also, learn to be comfortable running while looking behind you. Even if you aren't confident in the map setup, if you can see what the killer is doing and can develop a sense of predicting what moves they're going to make, you can buy yourself more time no matter where you are (minus deadzones of course).

  • @JinSime said:

But I wanna take little Victor for a ride hahahha. Sincerely, most of the times I keep him is because Charlotte is coming.

This. If a Twins player is smart, they won't do this, but 99% of the matches I've had with them, Charlotte comes running for me immediately after Victor latches on.

  • You're all the boring ones for complaining about the same things every other minute. This goes for both sides.

  • *says "git gud"*

    *whines about teabagging and clicking*

The jokes write themselves at this point.

  • @EvanSnowWolf said:

    LOL.

    Survivors: "Camping is scummy behavior."

Also Survivors: "Teabagging and flashlight clicking is part of the game. Deal with it."

Oh please. Camping takes a player completely out of participating and earning points. Teabagging and flashlight clicking do not.

One is annoying, one completely throws a match for a player.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/213028/solo-queue-is-literally-impossible-lately

It’s not that they are terrible it’s just that this game requires a lot of communication now because they keep buffing killers in various ways. I.e smaller maps, more powerful abilities and add ons that are pretty much OP af lmao. When you are Part of any team, teamwork is essential to winning. But this game doesn’t really feel like it has a balanced experience on both sides. The biggest problem is hiding/map size imo. When both of those are lacking in size or amount then it becomes kinda too easy for the killer. I play both sides and I’ve been red rank survivor solo for a long time and even In red ranks survivors don’t win often. When I play killer I almost feel like I’m in control of most of the matches. Every so often a survivor escapes or two. But imho killers have too much at their disposal in relation to the current map sizes being to small, the available hiding sucks and ways to confuse the killer and not get caught is extremely lacking. The game is designed for survivors to get caught. They inevitably go down really fast in most games. Then proxy camped until they die.. 1 by 1. It’s too easy for killers. Enough said.

This is true. Between hard tunneling killers and teammates who can’t loop longer than 10 seconds, this game is in a terrible state for solo survivors.

  • For me personally, I don't P3 survivor or killer unless I know I want the cosmetics on that particular character, and that's only been 2-3 characters across all of them, so the grind hasn't been bad at all.

ok? i was literally saying i was against it lol

like it's unnecessary. im not homophobic it's just. what

But this scenario people keep mentioning would not happen. Why is everybody so afraid the lore would scream GAY!!! at them?? No other lore has done this for straight characters.

And even if it did, what's the issue? I don't remember people being up in arms about how Jane's lore focused on her career in entertainment so heavily, for example.

By this logic, why put any lore in at all?

  • Literally nothing. The people who are against it are arbitrarily rebelling for the sake of it at best, homophobic at worst.

Please spare me your righteous indignations about characters in video games. I shouldn't have to grind 500 more hours just to complete a character for the simple fact that their skin tone is a shade different in order to have everything unlocked. You want to have 5000 survivors? fine, make the grind actually reasonable.

Your need to be a completionist has nothing to do with me, or anybody else. That sounds like a personal issue, and you can stop at any time.

  • @Mozzie said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1801634#Comment_1801634

So much I disagree with here. I don't know who Friskk is, I'm assuming a black woman. I guess the question is, with the grind being so outrageous, is diversity really the most important thing? Was one black woman not enough? What is the acceptable number of each and every mix of people? Isn't it a little shallow and strange to have so much of an emotional reaction to playing as someone who 'looks' like you in a videogame?

There are way too many survivors in the game. The grind to P3 and get all the perks for each and every character is beyond the scope of any normal person. At the very least, can BHVR ease off on the survivors until the number reaches up to killers please? I guarantee there are at least 100 completionists for every black woman playing this game. So for the love of god, let's pull the brakes on the woke train.... just for a little bit eh?

Imagine saying this with such a flippant disregard for other people, particularly minorities who are wildly underrepresented to begin with, when we have how many white characters? Why did we need Ace, or David? Isn't one white man in Dwight enough? What about Laurie, Nea, Kate? Isn't Meg enough?

Why not just have only one character of every single race while we're at it?

If you don't care about this, that's fine, but it LITERALLY does not affect you at all. You're choosing to argue a stance for no reason whatsoever. It makes other people happy to see themselves in media they love - deal with it.

They still have three other perk slots to work with, it's up to them if they want to maximize the effectiveness of that characters role.

Sure, but again - there are some perks people just really never use and never want to. So you're basically locking off a character to them because of it. This becomes particularly complex for past purchases where this method never applied before, with people paying money for a character and then suddenly not having any use with them.

You also run into the issue of killers having 4 perks plus a power, and survivors essentially having 3 perks, plus a "power" of their own, so to speak.

I think a perk rework would be a better, less restrictive option, especially if passive abilities were introduced. They could be reworked and balanced around these abilities, while still leaving four perks available for each survivor.

  • @chieften333 said:

I know this would be controversial, but what if survivors only had 3 perk slots, but the fourth would be an innate perk for that survivor.

Like claudette having botany knowledge innately, so she's a better healer. This would give survivors more unique aspects about them, and make them more than just skins.

I can see the idea behind this, but then you'd run into the problem of somebody wanting to play a particular character but hesitating because they don't want to be confined to that one perk.

I play Claudette often - and while I'm not someone who runs the same build over and over, I also never run botany knowledge at all. I would, as a result, almost never pick Claudette for this reason.

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

That fact that people get upset by this honestly baffles me, these survivors aren't trying to disrespect your blood line by unhooking themselves. This an innocent attempt at a kobe, if you rush for an unhook when the survivor still have forty-ish seconds on their timer the least you can do is let them try to do the singular thing they can while on the hook. You don't lose anything by being polite, your anger is misplaced.

Also, waiting for a survivor to hit the second stage of the sacrificial process before you unhook them is against the rules. If the hooked survivor records you sitting there letting them die there's a very good chance you're gonna get thrown out the door.

It's not that deep dude lol, it's just wildly inefficient.

You just wasted a teammates time if you waited until they're right at your hook to pull it off. I can understand if they try it shortly after the killer leaves, but most people are just doing it in the faces of other teammates after sitting there idly.

  • I'm the kind of petty where I still save them, but leave them to fend for themselves immediately after since they wanna be independent so badly.
