I really wish dbe would hurry up with the character. Weve gotten so much hetero representation, why not the LGBTQ community too? Its been almost a year, and oh boy is BHVR taking their time.

Who cares about a gay character in a game bro? People have too much free time nowadays

  • If they release the ptb version they need to release ptb oni, colision spirit,3 blinks nurse as well

  • If hillbilly was a survivor, devs would have changed him immediately.

"Pre nerf nobody used billy without the "unfair" addons. This is all you can remember him as looking at your post."

Wrong, I've faced plenty of Billies. Plenty of Billies who didnt use any addons at all. Some not even using any perks. If they ran perks, it was always BBQ, Bamboozle, Enduring and Spirit Fury to negate his only weaknesses.

"Post nerf billy is the same as pre nerf billy without addons only he can't set things up or do much thanks to the overheat and this is why nobody plays him."

Which is mainly false, he can do most of those things still, he just no longer can traverse the map as quick. The issue is that once he gets close to overheating, there isnt much you can do other than eat through the overheat mechanic, which is boring, or wait for the overheat mechanic to dissipate, giving you very limited choices in either using his chainsaw to gain distance, or using his chainsaw to zone people. THAT is why no one plays him. It forces people to make very hard decisions. Billy was never about setting things up. He was always about covering the map quickly and being able to shorten chases massively by using perks to block windows and spam his ability to delete pallets very quickly. Considering pallets in general have been reduced, this instantly buffs old Billy as he no longer needs to deal with those pallets and only has to care about windows instead.

"The animation, sound (roar and volume) and fov changes are the icing on the cake to making him miserable to play."

The roar is fine. Bubba always had a similar roar and no one complained. Billy had an 0 sound cues to tell survivors the difference between a revving and a running Billy. So yeah, a sound cue was needed, and a roar fits him lore-wise. Perhaps the volume needs to lower a bit on the killer side as killers tend to already increase their volume to hear people breathing and footsteps, which the roar is meant to make more difficult to hear, but it shouldnt deafen the players. The FOV makes him miserable to play. The animations are fine.

"Way to much effort for little payoff and requiring survivors to make massive mistakes."

Which is actually false, as you said, post nerf billy is the same as pre nerf billy. So there is no change in effort. The only change is that the timeframe of using his chainsaw has been massively reduced, with no way to take any advantage if you exceed that timeframe. While Bubba also no longer can infinitely rev, but he has addons that take advantage of him exceeding the timeframe. The only bonus Billy gets is that instead of 30 seconds, it will take 15 seconds to go back to 0 charges. In those 15 seconds of overheating, Billy should gain something he can use other than just being a regular m1 killer instead, at the very least addons that give him something he can actually use.

The maps are a HUGE nerf to billy. Try curving on new crotus pen/ironwork of misery/groaning storehouse, ITS IMPOSSIBLE. The new gideon meatplan has unbelievable numbers of pallets so your argument is again invalid

    Just like Bubba got overbuffed.

And I disagree, Billy needed a punishment on zoning survivors. His movementspeed reduction was practically non-existant and he didnt need any perks or addons to get consistent 4k's in red ranks. So yes, Billy needed a nerf in his basekit too.

So what did they do wrong? A lack of variable addons. There are 2 addons that are linked to overheating, and the only good one of those 2 is a brown addon that increases the cap by 20%.

    So what would I alter?

    1. Big Buckle instead of reducing the TR by 8 meter while overheating, making Billy undetectable(he already has 2 addons making him undetectable WITH his power, so why not without his power?)
    2. Black Grease, instead of it's very weird and niche use right now, instead add 5 or 10% movement speed while overheating(which would go nicely with the above Big Buckle AND current Tuned Carburettor)
    3. A brown addon to actually speed up the normal heat dissipation in exchange of slowing down the dissipation massively while overheating(which would improve his basekit AND gives him more use out of the above Buckle and Grease, but would be severely punishing if used improperly).

Essentially, giving Billy a playstyle that can only work if he Overheats, adding an extra layer onto Billy that he now so desperately needs. Old Billy was kinda boring, as there wasnt much mindgaming to do with him. You either reached a window in time, or you were downed. You either dropped a pallet in time, or you were downed. Right now, giving Billy players to 99 their overheat mechanic and actually give them a beneficial situation(being undetectable AND being 120/125% MS for 15 seconds is enough to hit a survivor before they can drop a pallet and gives you enough speed to close the gap before they can reach the next tile, let alone that STBFL would actually do wonders in this situation).

Essentially, I agree with the reasons of his nerf and also agree with the concept of current Billy. I dont agree with the endresult. They need to fix his cam, and give him more variety in addons to make him fun to play again.

A good survivor will sidestep,at red ranks billy was average without double engravings or instasaw. Bubba now can zone survivors way better than pre or post berf billy,so to say they nerfed billy due to zoning is an invalid information. You can’t even explain yourself why they nerfed him so we all agree here

Nurse and spirit have a cooldown the difference is when spirit used her power she had to wait Billy would stop sprinting and he could sprint again spirit had to wait 30 seconds to use her power again and nurse is so strong the cooldown doesn’t hold her back

Billy has two cool downs not one,and is way weaker than nurse and spirit. They needed to add an overheat on top of his cool down.

  • @Chilli_man2400 said:

he Said can someone tell him why they nerfed Billy. I know the reason why, this is not a joke it has nothing to do with devs being bad at the game or stats it was that Billy had everything for free with no downside. Example

Oni needs to collect his power to have map pressure and insta down- Billy has it from the beginning and is faster.

Myers needs to stalk people to get his instadown- Billy has it from the beginning along with getting across the map with mobility which Myers doesn’t have.

Basically the point I’m trying to make is that Billy had all of this from the beginning he didn’t need to build up his power and he had no cooldowns he could just spam his power forever so he was nerfed so other killers can be played so people won’t say why play him when I can play Billy.

Nurse/spirit etc have their power from the beginning, and they are stronger killers than billy. If oni had his power immediately he would be busted, something that pre nerf billy WASN’T. Myers is one of the worst killers in this game, thats why no one plays him. The real reason they nerfed billy imo is that people will buy bubba with money, thats why they nerfed billy and buffed bubba at the same patch. They are so greedy, thats the only reason i can think off, they were praising him but butchered him at the same time

Tier list are fun and all but imo not really accurate.

Maybe he's not that good with Billy but with another killer he's really good.

Now he would place the killer he's really good with in s tier.

So some people will suddenly start playing that S tier killer he's so good with, only to find out that they are not that good with that killer, not even after a huge amount of games.

It has all to do with how well that particular killer suits you and/or your playstyle.

A lot of people said wraith was a low tier killer before his buff, probably even the weakest killer.

And here I am doing really well with him and there are barely any games I've lost as him as rank 1, even against swf.

Again that is before his buff and I never used windstorm what everyone said he needed to be somewhat reliable.

So yeah tier lists are fun and all but I wouldn't rely to much on them because it's just a personal preference and nothing more.

Unfortunately in that case its the truth. I main hillbilly and now against good red ranks, you can’t get more than 1 kill without camping. Everyone agrees that his basekit didn’t need any nerf, but only the combination of 2 addons that makes you charge faster. The result of that change destroyed the character, and it’s something that isn’t good for the game because a big playerbase quit playing. I truly hope they will give hillbilly some love, because he was the funniest killer to play. He was strong but today we have stronger new killers like blight/twins,but the only difference is that they are unfun to go against while billy was fun to go against.

Anyone with half a brain knows spirit is busted.

People don’t ask for a spirit nerf because there “salty survivor mains” or because they need to “get gud”, people asf for spirit nerfs because she’s genuinely just straight up dumb. there is simply no counterplay to her, people say she’s just a guess but it’s barely even that, if a spirit has a headset your getting phased on and there nothing you can do about it.

No matter how good you are, how well you play, how precise your moves are, your getting phased on and it’s as simple as that.

    nerf her already

She isnt busted, ive escaped many times against a spirit. You just need some practice

Yes, you do need statistics to see. There are too many factors that determine a killer's strength, both inside and outside fo the game (which is a nice way of saying people suck at playing DBD), to just make meaningless surmise based on your own limited information. You are not Einstein. You are not Newton. You are not Voltaire. Even those great thinkers were unable to create perfect models and predictions, and neither can you.

By the way, yelling doesn't help you get across your point (Unless you're point is looking belligerent).

No,in that case you dont need statistics to see the obvious. Hope that helps,i wont waste my time anymore

Well he's literally just repeating what you're saying but with longer sentences, no more elaboration. Doesn't really add much to your point.

Do you need statistics to see the power limitation and the smaller fov/bugged animations and the useless addons ; NO YOU NEED SOME COMMON SENSE.

My example stands as strong as yours. I didn't see that many Billies before, I don't see that many Billies now. Back to deadlock.

Billy isn't that far down, when it comes to average players. He's on the lower end (discounting Blight because he just came out), but not as low as some of the more egregious offenders. And the harder (and pertinent) part is, you can't tack that all onto overheat. He had an add-on change (which is consistent with the trend of making add-ons less consequential), the general balance of the game has shifted (as you can see in the general drop in killer lethality since 2019), and his kill rates are still respectably high. In general, that would mean he's harder to play, but without a cap on skill. Similar case to what happened with Nurse. No more 5-blink chains, but good nurses didn't need 5-blinks to get survivors on their knees.

It really goes to show how little people play and understand Billy's power when you have those saying his new update is because he was balanced for old DBD. Ok, now Billy doesnt have to deal with infinites and pallet vacuum lets destroy his power and all addons because we forgot to add "Does not stack" to his addons.

Against GOOD survivors Billy is C tier. Being able to get around the map quick so you can M1lly everyone doesn't mean anything. The amount of time and skill required to be able to curve anything consistently is the highest in the game, more than nurse or spirit. And all that practice and time gets thrown out the window because you hit a single invisible pixel on a collision box, and the survivor gets a 5 second head start. Even if you manage to down them, you can't down any of their friends nearby because you will overheat unless you wait 15-30 seconds, allowing the downed survivor to recover 9 times out of 10.

Billy was balanced, you could escape him if he messed up, and you could mindgame him as well and sidestep. His cooldown alone was long enough for survivors to make it to another loop. Now you get punished for mistakes twice, with cooldown and overheat. Survivors prefer autoaim m1 killers because you can be braindead and still win against them.

I'm tired of these M1lly mains thinking they have a say in how powerful his power should be when they can't even curve autohaven cars. And for those who think the overheat is the problem, It wouldn't be if his hitboxes worked like they used to. Now you literally SLIDE off survivors you would have snapped to and instadowned. Backrevving M1llys won't notice a difference.

For those who don't know Billy was nerfed twice, the 4.1 update and the 3.7 update. Both absolutely gutting what made Billy fun to play. Let's nerf huntress basekit because Iri head exists, and then remove iri head. Let's nerf Myers basekit because tombstone exists, and then remove tombstone. I wish half of the people thinking they know what is best for Billy would go and play him pre patch 3.7.

My example still stands too. So now we're back to square one and we've gotten nowhere.

My point is that what you and I say doesn't really matter. General statistics matter. The game has changed in many ways since 2019, and all of those complicate the task of determining how much the overheat mechanic affects him. Add-ons change was undeniably a nerf, albeit a deserved one (since the devs are trying to take DBD down the less add-on-dependent road), but it's improper to say, "I see less Billies, Billy is trash now."

Add-ons change, power change, fov and animations change WAS A BIG NERF,and it was UNJUSTIFIED except instasaw. You dont need statistics to see that, but some common sense.

You have to analyze the pick rate of Billy if you're going to claim that nobody's playing Billy anymore because he's just that broken now.

Like myself, the majority of people here, and many streamers said billy has become very weak and unpleasant to play. The reasons why,are all written in the above posts here perfectly. By the way someone on those forums posted a pic with the pick rates in red ranks so you can see by yourself

No, not every player comes here, and not every player talks evenly. There are certain actors here who are much louder than others, and there are more than "hundreds of angry" players in DBD.

    So its a conspiracy ?

Looking on the forums and counting games is not a consistent indication of anything. I play rank 5 when I do play survivor and the distribution of killers ebbs and flows every day. That's basic statistics 101.

These are the official dead by daylight forums,so that means every player comes here to address some issues about the game or to report bugs etc. You can find here hundreds of angry posts and discussions complaining about hillbilly after his massive nerfs.

  • @SunderMun said:

Look, i love Otz and he does try not to jump to conclusions, but he still does have a tendency to overreact despite that fact and this is an example of it. He was never much of a Billy player before the overheat mechanic which only nerfs really bad backreving Billy players, and not the skillful ones

Don't get me wrong, I don't think it was necessary, but it didn't just suddenly nerf the fun out of him. And even so, fun isn't what puts killers into different tiers - potential for good players that main said killer does.

I've reached my wits ends with the game constantly freezing and never getting above 25 FPS. How in the ######### am I supposed to counter a 360 if I am getting less than HALF of the frames I should be getting, I'm being denied visual information.

Have some videos demonstrating my point, if you have any of your own, please share them. Maybe we can get an answer out of BHVR about what happened to the Optimization we were promised if we make a big enough fuss.

Maybe you all should watch his videos and listen to what he says instead of just read the headlines "ooh he said what, billy c-tier???".

He literally said a lot of things that people wrote here in this thread - Billys cooldown is no real issue, his add ons are absolutely laughable, he is hard to learn and to play against good survivors, he punishes your own mistakes very hard, but is still oppressive when played flawlessly due to instadown + mobility ...

Don't get hung up so much on the tier thing, i also wouldn't put him in C tier but as he said in another video, killers right now are much more balanced than 1-2 years ago and even the weaker ones can be played successfully in higher levels. There are some outliers like Trickster but that's it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2149513#Comment_2149513

Imo she is, but that doesn't mean she is unplayably bad. The difference between the different tiers is pretty small right now. Other killers around her got buffed (Clown and Wraith) and most of her abilities are very mediocre at best. Her chasing tool is maybe the weakest in the game, her stealth is situational and mediocre, she has no mobility, the only really good thing about her are the stalling bear traps (when combined with good add ons). She is a noob stomper but struggles against good survivors.

He compared him to bubba also and said you need much more effort with him to have the same pressure bubba can apply. Billy was nerfed 1 year ago but the game is exactly the same. Maps have become extremely difficult to curve, and against new rework maps its almost a guaranteed loss(crotus penn, autoheaven etc). The players have become better and the maps have become harder for him,so this huge nerf isnt justified.

I never had a problem with billy at the start. Rank 20-11 were so bad, i could chainsaw them easily. Billy was the first killer i reached red rank with.

if survivors are running in a straight line without looking behind i can understand you didn’t had a problem, but that applies to nurse and every other killers that needs skills as well. Billy is very rare in red ranks so i cant imagine in rank 20-11 he is picked. The only few times i played against a billy 9/10 times they couldn’t control his chainsaw and were mediocre m1 billy players.

Sorry but I dont really care what this guy has to say. Think for yourself.

When you start playing dbd, low ranks, you play billy and destroy because people dont know how to play against him. In higher ranks they know how to tango with billy. Hes ez to kite.

When you start playing dbd and pick billy, you give up because he is very frustrating and hard to play. Usually newbie billies bump into everything and are almost exclusively m1s. So we have high ranks that knows how to dance with billy unfortunately.

  • @LazyPayday said:

Like your entire community has already said that base-kit billy wasn't the problem and you realized this when you changed huntress so why can't you just acknowledge that overheat wasn't a good idea and take it away. Overheat was horrible in the ptb, unnoticeable when it fully released, and then got nerfed back down later so now it's just unfun to play him.

The only problem with base-kit billy before was that he could camp hooks, all you'd need to do is make the chainsaw have a mechanic similar to leatherface's forced tantrum near a hooked survivor and you'd be good.

We can only hope, its in their hands to fix that HUGE mistake unfortunately.

YOU, however claimed, that the perk wasnt nerfed, just its abusability. And thats where we disagree, thats why i used a valid situation that is still nerfed as an example.

It was nerfed, and to me, a little over the top. Healing yourself should in my opinion not deactivate the perk. Unhooks, gens, totems, yes, they should. Also, i belive it should be usable after every unhook, not just once.

Not make stupid claims and people might not disagree with you, when they basicly share your opinion.

if they change ds now even a little bit, every killer will quit for ever. Bt in my opinion is that close to being the new meta uncounterable perk, and they shouldn’t make it past the ptb

  • That perk SHOULD BE 8 seconds not 12

Perk was fine. Nerfing it to the ground like this makes it low tier at best. You can’t do anything or else the perk deactivates. Now the killler knows if you have the perk. Where as before it was very versatile perk. It’s a perk to punish the killer for tunneling. As it should be the perk functioned that way before change. If the killer tunneled someone with DC they were punished for it. Now it’s nothing. Has limited use. Killers are no longer scared of DC. Nothing prevents them from tunneling now and the game has turned to garbage again. You’re essentially taken out of the game if you have DC now because you can’t do a single action without the perk being deactivated. Garbage perk now and if you think it’s still good you’re a useless team mate and doesn’t understand high tier play. Killers have it so EZ mode right now it’s not even funny. Please flame me I’m ready for it. I already know all the garbage survivors will respond or killers trying to defend the change. Just garbage change tbh. Illogical. I barely even used the perk but now there’s nothing preventing killers from tunneling.

    keep crying kid

So I'm a 50 year old mom. All the 'friends' that I make on DBD seem to be around 17. I feel ancient and a little bit weird hanging out with the teens 🤣🤣🤣

I personally know 2,45+ guys playing this game so you’re not the only one fortunately

We need more grils in killer's club

Can we have a feminine killer next patch

    I've just dreamt with it

    No

  • This map is the worst in the game,a huge failure. They should delete that map

Just because it's true for you doesn't mean it's true across the board. Every online game I play on my PS4 Pro works fine except DbD. It's not my internet, it's not my system. There are enough people on these forums saying the same thing that there is a problem. If the game works perfectly fine for you, great! You're one of the lucky ones. Enjoy it.

I clearly wrote in english that my frames don’t drop like the videos above,i didn’t say anything else.....

I'm not going to trust you without proof.

The burden of proof falls to you, since you are the one making claims. I've already demonstrated my point and all you've said is "that isn't true."

I dont care if you trust me or not, thats up to you

Then prove it. Share some clips because my One X and my buddies PS4 Pro have a terrible time.

I dont think i will, due to my limited time unfortunately. You should trust my words,i have nothing to gain or lose by lying

Could you show me some killer gameplay from you?

I would like to see how getting bloodlust or a survivor using dead hard looks like on your console

    Would be much appreciated

Trust me,you can't see the difference between ps4 and pc gameplay in my case. The problem is coming from the xbox or the survivors internet connection, the frames are fine on my ps4

  • i play on the ps4 and ive never seen something like this man,i dont know...

    Same.

Still get the same FPS drops/freezes from various status effects (e.g exposed, bloodlust etc.).

I even have a new trigger for FPS drops/freezes.It's whenever a new icon from perks and addons appear on my screen (e.g Prove Thyself,Dying Light etc.)

It’s probably your internet connection. The game since cross play runs fine

DBD has a pretty low turnover rate, so the competition would be for new players, not veterans. Unfortunately, even for new players, Home Sweet Home Survive is pretty ... meh. DBD has already established itself in the corner and it'll be very hard for any other game to come in and take the reigns.

    True.

Imo the nerf isn’t completely awful as I definitely still popped it on a few killers here and there but let me ask you this why even slot it? In higher rank survivor gameplay most good survivors off a hook will try to pop a gen/make a good play before a heal but DS deactivating upon healing self/others, totems, gens entices you to be an inefficient teammate. I can see the argument “the perk did need re-work” but the better option is to say perks like resilience might be an even easier slot than before knowing that if your not on a gen/healing after a hook your pretty much dead anyways lol. I got my DS off maybe 2-3 times in some well needed non BT saves but beyond that seemed lackluster what do you guys think.

The thing is that ds was boosting swfs and good solos more than they are boosted. A high caliber team(2 pc swf and 2console swf for example)with ds and all the meta perks will make you sweat from the beginning and multiple gens will fly in no time. When the gens are done and the gates are 99’d and you down some of them, the guy that has been hooked before the last one will try to unhook because of ds. That play has no counter play and you will either have 1 kill or 0 kills, and trust me its a miserable match for the killer. Survivors have too many second chance perks but ds was more than that,it was an unfair perk

  • Bhvr is a billion dollar company now,They have the only surviving asymmetrical game in the market.

  • Billy needs to be fixed as soon as possible,it should be their priority in the next patch. They need to make useful addons and fix his animations, fov AND nerf his overheat.
