Where exactly did they fix exploits? I just see survivors arent allowed to use anti-face-camping to their adavantage while killers are allowed to do so. Like, survivors arent allowed to crawl to a hook to pause the timer. Meanwhile the killer is allowed to carry a survivor to a hook, put them down and pause/slowdown the timer while actually camping two people. Another one: killers arent penalized by vertical distance on different floors, meanwhile killers are allowed to better camp in shack than in basement or under/above a staircase or at a drop. double standards at its best.

Can you fix one without the other?

    Solution?

Yeah, and when i play soloQ i also miss out on the SWF telling me where the killer is. So why should the killer aura not be shown to me at all times so i dont miss out on that?

Because that's how busted swf with voice communication actually is.

This is the hole BHVR dug themselves and they can't fix the issue.

  • Most of the players in my steam friend list are from dbd.

A lot of players in this game are very entitled and unfriendly to put it slightly. But then there are the good apples. I play against them and we all enjoy the match. We win, we lose. Doesnt matter that much if the game was fun. Then we play a couple more rounds together. Sadly I can only do that as survivor.

  • 2024?!?

    This soon already?

    I wasn't ready yet!!!

Again, 100% Iron Will was a great and healthy perk that was used for years without too much complaints besides spirit mains before their nerf.

Iron Will is supposed to be a stealth perk that is versatile in chase and outside chase. That’s why it is not disabled during a chase. However, because of the meta shake up done in 6.1.0 many good and great perks were nerfed to the ground to the point of not being useful anymore.

75% Iron Will is a a huge pile of garbage because characters that have loud moans of pain will still be louder than others (like Jane, Bill, Cheryl, Sheeva, Jill, etc). A killer with a dollar tree headset can still hear then with this perk during and outside chases. That’s why this perk is beyond useless.

Also, as per my last replies, I used to play before 6.1.0 and I have never had an single issue with Iron Will, in fact, that was the least hated perk for me during my gameplays. I used to be more annoyed by bully squads with head on and flashlights than someone using a stealth perk.

Iron will is still amazing on quiet characters. Ace is basicly 100% quiet.

I think it's more a problem of some survivor being too loud and some being too quiet.

That was something the devs wanted to look into if I'm not mistaken.

  • Save the best for last.

Played with it for almost 2 years at this point. I love the faster chases and the counter to shift w. It also feels like you level up for every hit you get.

Better to fix the core mechanics to bring up the 25+ killers that need it, then individually deal with the 2-3 killers that are too powerful rather than the reverse which takes far longer and requires tweaks to nearly every killer.

Also, there are plenty of things that can be done to fix the game at high levels of play without hurting low level play and BHVR has done it before.

    Agree.

Because it’s scummy. Can you do it? Sure. Should you? No, probably not if you’re a considerate person. I main killer, and I don’t slug for the 4k outside of doing an adept (which I don’t become I’m 100% on adepts) because…

When I play survivor, it absolutely SUCKS being slugged because the killer wants to go find the other survivor and deny them hatch. I don’t know anybody who plays a survivor match and says “oh man I REALLY hope the killer slugs for the 4k… that would be so much fun!”

If everybody hates it, why shouldn’t we discriminate against it and try to get it changed? Slugging for the 4k is unhealthy and you won’t change my mind.

I main killer as well. I very rarely slug for the 4k. I think it's boring. However, the 4k is the best possible outcome for the killer and there is nothing wrong with someone wanting to gain the extra points.

I think the flaw is the hatch that enables this. Without it, the killer would not have to slug. I'm more for a "final chase". If the survivor gets chased long enough, they get the escape. That's better for me than an anti climatic : hey I found it before you, now I tbag you until you arrive / now I have to patrol gates until the survivor shows up.

They basically win 99% of killer games they play, I don't think they play against more casual survivors, also as data miners already found out you really don't need many games to get to the soft cap mmr. Especially Hens plays mostly public... Knightlight often scrims yes, but most of the games he plays on stream are still so I don't think your assumption is correct.

I understand, but then again the skill required between Billy and Legion is also huge, so it cannot be just a small difference in how good a certain killer is.

Knightlight just enjoys to make other players feel as miserable as possible and takes the game way too seriously. Sorry if this was too blunt. I can't really look up to a player like that.

Billy is in my opinion the hardest killer in dbd. Sadly he doesn't outperform Legion that much. Even when played really well.

  • The colour's and shading look awesome.

im not playing in a way that gives survivors the best chance possible, so survivors are getting mad (he things mft and hope is fine lol)

We can all play how we want. We bought the game. Made for this is the problem. Not hope. I try to finish my games before the 5th Gen is completed because I know that I won't have an end game.

Made for this hurts weaker killers exponentially more than stronger ones.

Oh you’re one of THOSE killers… just hook the guy and move on with the game, and you would have avoided this whole situation. Hope is fine, MFT is fine. If he ran you around the whole map, there’s some work to be done on your end as well.

Why discriminate someone only because they want the best possible outcome of the match?

  • @Archol123 said:

Weakening nurse without changing anything about her is fairly easy actually, give maps more high line of sight blockers so it is easier for survivors to break line of sight, most m1 killers don't really get bothered by that since they can just follow the scratch marks, whereas nurse needs to blink to catch up and therefore decide where to blink to... I m not saying they should plant ever map with such things, I'm just saying it is not impossible.

Nurse is still a "if she plays it right, you get hit killer". All the survivor can do is make her predict and mindgame her. This is made worse because she can traverse everything and ignore core elements like windows and pallets. I think she could be tuned down in terms of perks.

I think certain perks that stun her like ds or head on should also reset her power.

Aura read is also a free hit for Nurse. Especially on indoor maps. All the player needs to do is connect the dots.

That's what my experience has been at least.

What you propose would help. Just not as much I feel.

  • @Archol123 said:

That's what I meant by saying play properly ^^ It is not about performing well, because that is mostly an issue about the matchmaking and survivors not knowing what options they have in chase against a Blight.

Think about how hard Billy is to master and how easy Legion is... This should be represented in the difference in power. Also as demonstrated by several content creators (Hens, Knightlight and more I think), you don't need to play only top tier killers to perform well, they played games without tunneling camping, using the killers power and so on and had a win rate of over 90%... When we look at results it is a skill issue, the problem is how easy to achieve the results are... Whereas with a harder high tier killer you have to learn him first and put the effort in there, to have easier games later, whereas with weaker easier killers you have a harder time during the match but you can pick them up without much training.

I think the concept itself is alright, the question is only about the relation of skill needed to play properly and strength.

I personally dislike knightlight and the bunch a lot. But still not wrong. I think however, that they due to them playing more in a private setting play against more casual survivors.

Again.... I have no problem with differences in power level. Just not THAT big.

  • @ImCoty said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555168#Comment_3555168

Preferably the buff would be to change maps. Which they are doing lately. You'd be surprised what weakening crappy maps like Garden of Joy would do for the weaker killers. While not effecting stronger killers at all

But they could try other things. Like 10 % haste while not in chase. To help with traversal to change the gap between blight/nurse/pig downtime.

Pig could certainly maybe get her anti loop changed to be a bit faster and no roar to make it better. Coupled by hopefully less strong maps and pallets. So it's less safe and more 50/50s

Wesker maps are the core mechanics that I mean. But I dont think that making them weaker will not influence Blight and the likes at all.

  • Zero anti tunnel, zero anti camp. But that's why we make perks basekit right?

  • @ImCoty said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555142#Comment_3555142

I'd argue the other way around TBH. Nurse, Blight, Spirit are the only ones capable of really going for 12 hooks games consistently. Without tunneling, camping, slugging(all the things people hate)

Meanwhile the rest of the roster has to play the macro in most of their games and make even one decision to tunnel once mid game to get someone out quicker so they can attempt their 4k.

I'd argue that the rest of the roster should be a bit buffed to come up to their level so the Meta is chasing and 12 hooks. Not bringing the top killers down. So the meta remains making macro decisions on tunneling and camping.

Also...Literally every single game has things in them that are stronger then the rest really. I don't see why nurse and blight and spirit would need nerfed further. They have counter play with plenty of give and take

    What buff would you give?

It's not possible. It's core game mechanics that make weaker killers weak. Making Pig faster in crouch will not make her way better on huge maps with tons of strong structures and unfair tiles.

But changing core mechanics to fit more the average killer isn't possible whith killers like the 3 mentioned. They need to be toned down a bit for core changes to be possible.

  • @HugTechLover said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555142#Comment_3555142

I strongly disagree. In what world should a trapper, wraith, or Freddy, be even remotely close to blight in strength? The mechanical difference warrants the drastic difference. It’s important to have your weaker killers who are simple and easy to play, and have much stronger killers who require much more mechanical input, thought, and game knowledge to use.

If every killer is generally in the same realm, it’s boring.

No. It's not boring. Killers play differently.

Again. Performing good with Blight isn't that hard. Same with Nurse.

Mastering Blight on all maps is very hard.

  • @Archol123 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555142#Comment_3555142

I think there should be killers that are harder than others that reflect the level of commitment to learning those killers in a better performance when mastered, the question is just where is this sweet spot... Because there are many killers in this game that just don't have much depth, that you can basically master in a day, at least from a mechanical standpoint.

And then there are other killers like Huntress, Billy, Blight, Nurse, Wesker, Plague and some more that require way more time to play properly. Killers like Nurse, Blight, Billy require you to know the maps better, especially on indoor maps for Nurse when you need to know the map layout to play the map. Or Blight and Billy where you need to know about collision and which tiles you slide off of and which ones you can bump into.

My point is it is fine that the killers vary in power, the question is just how much of a variance is ok, If we imagine a killer like Legion being close to the power level of some of those killers that are so much harder to play properly, then why would people even take the time to learn them? We have seen this with Singularity and Billy where the killer is quite good (Singularity) or rather average (Billy) and people just don't play them because it is too much of an effort and not worth the while. I think overall there should not be any killers that are on D tier level and below. As for the power level of Nurse and Blight, I would say with addons Blight is stronger than Nurse, otherwise Nurse stays the best killer in the game, but since they changed her addons they really don't give much to her strenght anymore. And the gap between those two and the next 3-4 killers is not that big anymore either, but ofc all of them are still way above Trapper, Trickster, Clown and so on.

When you design a killer that is really easy to play/learn/master I don't think it should necessarily perform as well as harder ones, just so you get a reward for the effort to put in, the question stays though, how hard is hard enough and what is the spot we should aim at for each killer to represent the amount of time you need to play it properly. So for example if we say Billy is that much harder than Legion to play properly, he should also be somewhat adaquately stronger than Legion.

Blight is a mechanically very demanding killer, and probably one of the hardest to play, in my opinion right after Billy. He should be rather strong, but some of his addons are just busted, they should get nerfed, but his basekit is just fine. And btw. obviously Billy is way too weak for how hard to play he is, but that's just a side note.

I agree that the killers should vary in strength but not that big.

Also I disagree that Blight is one of the hardest killers to play. He's one of the hardest to master but to perform good with him takes very little time. That's just due to his power being that good (even only for mobility) and the general survivor being a little clumsy.

Wouldn't it be cool if we got certain cosmetics unlocked for doing certain actions? Imagine if there was an actual "boop the snout" score event and every character that did this would get this mask.

I sorta roleplay this myself: every time I verse Pinhead, I try to escape with the box and score the "Seeker of Pleasure" score event (I bet most of you didn't know about that!), and every survivor that I manage to do so I equip with the box charme - its roleplaying, I could just equip everyone with that charme, but I like the small stories this tells. But it would be cool if we had some actual smoll reward for doing this kinda challenges and I think some charms would be perfect for this.

I think all the killer items can be upducted out of the trial, so all of this could be a cute and fun little charm in itself. And obviously, Boob the Snout is the biggest contender. And then there is Maurice ... I can never play on the chapel map without trying to pet Maurice together with the killer. Most don't get it, but those moments that do are always special. And in the room above the bathroom in The Game, there is a TV set. I invited a couple of killers to watch the jigsaw killer with me there, this could also be one of this instances. There is much potential here, BHVR!

    That would be awesome.

    @caipt said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555101#Comment_3555101

the scenario where the survivors understand how to counter them. both their basekits are fine, though nurse could use a few additions such as bringing back stun fatigue and lightburn. They have plenty of counterplay. But the best survivor in the world cant win a game if they get placed with 3 megheads. its a soloQ/MMR issue not a killer balance issue.

Ok, my question is then, do we want killers like Demo or Nemesis be viable in most levels of play?

It's about making a general strength level and making all killers a bit closer to that.

Nurse and Blight are levels above the other killers. Only spirit, plague and Artist come close to them.

    That's not ok.

If we want more killers to be viable, small changes to their power will not be enough ( Trapper). The game needs big balance changes.

But we can't make them with those killers being way stronger than the rest. They need both be tuned down for the sake of balancing out the others.

nah nurse and blight basekit are mostly fine. The other two really need some changes though

I actually don't think they are fine basekit. You need to compare them to the other killer powers.

If we want to make the gap between killers slimmer, the top needs to be toned down and the bottom brought up.

I honestly feel awful when I play blight and after hooking a survivor and using Bbq, I get a hit in mere seconds. I compare this with most other killers in the game and it just feels like cheating.

Yes I know he has solid counters.

  • @Header said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3555082#Comment_3555082

nah more like 90% since most bugs are minor. it’s just that it’s basically impossible to play a game without missing a hit because something stupid happened

Well. I think Blight has a dumb strong power to begin with. So I would be against making him stronger in any way possible.

  • @Header said:

Considering that there are at least 10 bugs that make blight weaker in some way, I think the hug tech acts as an equalizer to those. I don’t mind removing hug tech but only when everything else about him works as intended (which will never happen)

BNP has to be half way decent, it's an iridescent add-on. Most players don't have the ability to stack them so they have to do something by themselves. I don't know how you make them fair in a full SWF without making them useless for the average survivor.

    👉️🐽

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3554857#Comment_3554857

I get that people tend to fixate on tier lists, but they barely apply to most players. A character being well balanced for the majority of players isn't necessarily a complete failure. I genuinely feel bad for BHVR when it comes to balance. How do they make a killer that is competitive against the highest level SWF without the killer steam rolling all other survivors? The only way it works is if the killer is extremely technical, so newer killers can't use them properly. Like Nurse or Blight.

Imagine if easy to play killers like Wraith and Doctor were as strong as Nurse and Blight. They would completely wreck survivors outside of the highest MMR. It would be nice if they could be balanced appropriately, but how do you do that when there's such a huge difference between veteran players and casuals?

I agree. I just wanted to point out that the intention of the change was, that they where too strong in certain situations. They still are.

Maybe a restriction on how many could be used would be an idea. Comes with its own flaws though.

  • @FrenchBagels said:

    …to face.

I’m saying this because we’re coming across another potential trap killer in the game, being new Skull Merchant. They’re going to reasonably buff her, and once they do that’ll be another trap killer to the mix.

I play Hag from time to time, but even I can see we really don’t need trap killers. Sure Trapper is a push over, but once it works, you BARELY can do anything against it. If there’s a competent trap killer, especially in solo queue, there’s no skill expression. You don’t have any meaningful chase and there’s no flavor to it. It’s just waltzing into a trap or zoned out at an intersection. Artist and Knight might have the problem of being so boring because they’re zoning, but trap killers take it a step further. At least with those two you can kind of do something in chase. Trap killers though? Sucker up I guess and either take the free hit or walk along the edge of a tile since you can’t use it. Hag abuses this more but that’s because she’s slightly better designed than Trapper.

I don’t mind having two killers with a trap mechanic. I do mind when we start seeing more of them.

Not every killer has to have a huge mechanical skill component. Some players like strategic gameplay a lot more.

    Trap killers are exact that.

I dislike blight and Wesker for example. I like to play against them. I dislike to play them.

Trapper is actually very enjoyable for me to play against. He's kinda an awareness and teamwork check. If your team ignores the traps he can be very punishing (at times). He also makes me very cautious about where to step and where not. Makes looping a bit more of a scary thing. (How it should be in my opinion)

I like trap killers. To play and to play against.

I dislike them camping basement though.

MfT and WoO are already meta perks. So they will stay as they are.

Reassurance can rise maybe ( i still doubt it will be meta tho ) because if killer is camping , you can make them even lose longer time and you can give more time to hooked survivor if killer is waiting a bit out of range.

Off the Record maybe can be finally meta perk. BHVR wanted make this perk meta but it failed. But now with anti-camp mechanic, i think Off the Record will be strong option to bring.

And for last perk, Adrenaline. It's already meta because survivors are not healing and doing gens instead of it.

So i am putting my money on: MfT + Adrenaline + Off the Record + WoO/Reassurance

    Wait...

There is OTR, extremely strong perk. There is Borrowed time. People don't use it anymore since half of it is basekit. There is DS. Sure it got nerfed but i wouldn't say its useless. Sure its useless against nurse and blight but what isn't. Use it smart. Go down near good loop and DS can buy you plenty of extra time. add little sprinkle of DH with it and i'd say you have pretty damn good anti tunnel build. DH alone is now antitunnel perk. Is it hard to use and misses time to time..sure but it's absolutely better than nothing.

People rather use windows and turn their brains off and see the pretty yellows instead of using actually good perks.

    Agree.

Considering the perk's activation is entirely within the killer's control, 5 seconds is fine. It should be a proper deterrent, otherwise it's not worth picking.

It doesn't matter that its impact varies among different killers because none of those killers should be tunnelling into a DS.

Tunneling is sometimes a necessary evil. There is no better slowdown than getting a player out of the game. Until that changes, tunneling will probably remain a strong choice.

Both got 50% and an excess trim. They're really not that different.

And both should have the 50% reverted.

No. I think 5 seconds is too much. Ruin souls have gotten one of the nerfs. Ds deactivating in end game is absolute fine in my opinion. It was the most unfair part about the Perk. The real problem with ds is that it punishes weaker killers more than stronger ones. Same with Made for this. Nurse and Blight don't really care about ds. Therefore I would keep 3 seconds (maybe 4) but make it that it sets Blights and Nurse's power to 0. Therefore they can't just rush you down again. Same with spirit, maybe Wesker.

Yes. Every time a perk gets made basekit, it takes away from perk variety and more calcifies the meta. May main hot take always was "if you deem a perk good and desirable enough that you want it basekit, why not just equip it?". It worked for me. In the days following the medkit nerf the game was basically flooded with Adrenalin; its still a very common perk, but for a while there were three Adrenalins in every single game. During that time I just equipped Terminus and it worked; thats how a living meta works: something becomes strong due to a buff or some player calls out a strong interaction and now everybody uses it. In response the other side expects you using that perk, so they already arange a counter pick in their loadout. Eventually the effectiveness of the first option wanes, because people expect to have to counter it and peeps again vary their builds, until the next new meta perk arises, etc. etc.

But for most of DBDs lifetime, the survivor meta is moving at a glacial pace, and all this basekit additions aren't helping one bit.

There is only ONE thing that I would add to basekit: mini BBQ. After hooking a survivor show the killer the aura of a singel survivor x meter away. Killers of the past had BBQ equipped for the BP bonus, but the perk showed them opportunities that were worthwile and peeled them away from hook. Another good addition might be to bring back the old +25% more BP part as basekit, but only increase the counter if all 4 survivors are still in the game; ie if the killer tunnels the first survivor out their bonus will stop at 25%, but if they hook each seperate survivor before going in for a kill, this nets them +100% bonus BP. Its simple and elegant and would help a lot to incentivice killers to spread hooks and leave hooks to go hunting.

    Agree.

The mini BBQ would also be a good idea.

I personally would create a early game mechanic for weaker killers. Maybe killers like Myers, Freddy, Pig, Trapper, Demo, Ghostface and Wraith could have a little indicator in form of an arrow or something in the beginning of the match, indicating, where most survivors 2 or more spawned. No aura, no screaming. Just a 2 second arrow or something. That would actually help a lot. Lethal would still he a solid choice for info on all survivors and no Nurse or Blight would benefit.
