He isn't really fun as of now, but he used to be. That doesn't mean he didn't need QoL improvements, he certainly did, but Freddy used to be way more fun and unique than he currently is.
Please, let me share with ya my idea for a Freddy change. I'd love to have your feedback:
Power: Dream Demon
Pull survivors into the Dream World
-Survivors who are awake do not see The Nightmare.
-Once targeted by The Nightmare’s power, survivors enter the Dream Transition for 7 seconds.
-During the Dream Transition Survivors can see The Nightmare intermittently and they suffer from the Incapacitated status effect.
-When the Dream Transition Lapse, the Survivor is pulled into the Dream World.
Once in the Dream World:
-Survivor’s auras are revealed to The Nightmare when they are outside of his terror radius.
-Survivors suffer an action speed penalty of 40%.
-To exit the Dream World, Survivors can find non-sleeping Survivors to perform a wake up action.
-Failed Skill Checks can also wake up.
-Hooked Survivors wake up.
Special Ability: Dream Projection
-Teleport to a Generator in view. Releasing the button early will cancel the action.
-Survivors cannot interact with the targeted Generator.
“You have nothing to worry about. This won’t hurt one… little… bit.” -Freddy Krueger
I'd love to see any form of skillful power. Is that maybe possible? I thought of maybe he could extend and swing his noodle arms at survivors.

During the recent Reddit AMA, there was a particular question that got my attention:
Q: Hi, thanks to the dev team for making this Q&A possible!
When the first Sadako rework hit the live servers, a lot of Onryō mains were very vocally upset about the huge changes in how her powers work, requiring players to shift to fundamentally different playstyles, and also creating a more confusing experience for survivors. Is the upcoming Sadako rework aiming to make her more similar to the original version of the character, is it going to be just a couple of tweaks on her current iteration or will it be an attempt at "fusing" these two versions?
A: We have definitely heard the cries of anguish from Onryo fans. :D Our initial intention was to make condemned more relevant, but we've reassessed and yes, we are hoping to restore much of what players loved about the old kit while still enhancing it in some important ways. We sincerely hope her latest kit will resonate with killers and survivors alike. -Mike
And you see it, don't you?
we are hoping to restore much of what players loved about the old kit while still enhancing it in some important ways.
Whoever Mike is, he has the answer to Freddy. That is exactly, precisely what should happen. It is what I did with my own concept, and it is what I hope BHVR will do with him.
If restoring Sadako's old kit with improvements is possible, then why not do the same with Freddy?
There is a golden opportunity here, devs. Take it.
Please, take it.
I loved reading this.
We where many dedicated players that genuinely wanted the best for Sadako. We all got hurt so bad.
Mike, if you can read this. My sincere gratitude for going into the right direction.
#bringbackSadako
If it workes for us, it can work for you as well @GeneralV.
Freddy might not be a lost cause.

Some people will always sweat. Makes the matches where people meme and have fun all the more special. Just had a game of pig where all survivors tried to leave the gate with active head traps while sitting in snowmans.

The number of rings I hold will forever remain a mystery… just know that they do not leave my build. 🤫
edit - lemme know how chucky feels to you with this new cap!
I played a couple of games now. Yes the turning during dash is limited. That feels bad. Is he not usable anymore? For most of what I already did, nothing changed. Just the more fancy stuff is harder. I found, that after sampering, turning still worked like before. Weird. Flicking with Chucky still works from what I've tested. I even got a 180 flick around shack. Dont know if that's intended or not. 90 degree flicks definitely work just fine. As expected.
Chuckys still alright. But limiting movemebt never FEELS good. If it's a bug that needed to be fixed, alright, fix it. But then his turning could maybe be adjusted accordingly.

Incredible.
They specifically point out the most optimal way of playing Twins is via slugging, which is frankly, unrewarding for both the Killer and Survivor. They then state that they wish to change their kit to give them other ways to be played viably.
Only someone intent on misrepresenting their words could've gotten, "BHVR hates Killers and disregards all their feedback, they favor Survivor Etc etc"
It's getting old at this point.

@Pulsar said:
There can only be a punishment for tunneling.
There is NOTHING the Devs can implement that will be stronger than removing a player from the game in the first two minutes. Therefore, there is no way to encourage spreading pressure. Even if you made PR basekit and 25% for every Survivor not hooked twice in a row, people would still tunnel because removing someone from the match is STILL STRONGER
It hurts...
But I have to agree to some extend. However, I think tunneling could be disincentivised via punishment and reward together.
There should be any form of positive feedback for spreading pressure.

Yea it can be difficult that is true. I do my gens as survivor and do my stuff and I do try to make it a bit difficult for the killer as well, but if the killer is good that wont work.
I played rounds where it worked out to survive and do not play anything mean as survivor and these where it did not work. It is up to the skill of the killer.
Otherwise is it as a killer absolutley possible to be good without rely on these stuff. I played many killer rounds now and when I really want to get them all I do get them all. And all that without camping, tunneling or slugging. That proves it to me that it is possible. Sure there will be rounds where that will be difficult but yet not impossible. And I got around 36k bloodpoints out of my rounds no matter if I let them alive or get them all. So it is also no reason that it will bring much more bloodpoints.
Yea it sure can be crazy with the gens. But if it is like that just do not go out for this really bad behaviour of camping and stuff. It just can not all rounds be good. My very first killer round was a bloody hell. I played against a bully squad so I do know what it is like to play against that. But yet that is no reason for me to start playing like a noob XD cause it is nothing other than noobskills. That is nowhere effective, it is just skillless.
And also sure 3 Gens can be done really quick, what it just makes a bit more difficult for survivors to find other Gens. And most of them then need to work together on one. which made it easier to find them on the one they work on. Sure it is not easy and I got a round where they had only one Gen left but I got 3 of them in that time and the last at the gate, cause I closed the hatch in that round. A thing I also do almost never if not a mission, cause I do like to give the survivors a fair chance. Even if they maybe fool me around.
I think you don't take maps, items, addons, swf and the killer being played into account.
-
@Akumakaji said:
I am with you, camping is boring and could do with some more punishment. But do you know what is boring, too, and could see a bit of the same? Splitting up on gens. This "technique" is so boring and no-skill-braindead, yet it yields the highest results and is the most effective thing survivors can do. You would think that cleverly interacting with the killer should be the road to success, but it actually is just minding your own business in a secluded corner of the map, holding M1 at your own gen and hope that you get to be kept in peace by the killer.
Splitting up is so disgustingly effective, you can run into a survivor right at the start of the match and have a really quick and clean chase, and still got three gens blowing up in your face by the time you reach the hook. At that point you can either chase ineffectually after one of the three other survivors or keep the one you got hooks company and slap them on the hook till they unhook themselves. A quick camp and tunnel might be the only way to salvage this trial that was already decided, before you got a real chance to do anything.
So, of course I am baiting you, but I am not entirely jesting. Gens fly like crazy and you can EASILY see 3 gens be finished by the time the first chase comes to an end; if you fumbled that chase and the survivor got away, you are already with the back against the wall and facing unsurmountable odds. A survivor who is downed within 30s of the trial starting still has a reasonable chance of a fun game and even an escape, as they just got "one hook", but a killer who starts the trial with 3 gens completed with them not so much as getting one hook have it much, much harder.
The game is at a breakneck pace right now and doesn't allow for any fun or dillydallying on the side of the road for but a moment, its all about efficiency and wham-bam that gen/survivor.
Very well said!

@Quizzy said:
Because killers complain the most when it comes to chases that don't last less than 10 seconds. They say it's for free. Yet, they not going after resilience since it's for free as well by just being injured.
But oh well. Survivor perks never last long anyways when meta. We have been running the same old meta builds for years like lithe, SB, adrenaline, bond, windows, resi etc.
Chase is part of the killers time management. If chases take too long without the killer making huge mistakes, it's problematic. The less chases the killer can take, the more they will camp and tunnel. Shorter chases are important for the game health overall. Either that or longer survivor objective.
Also.... Are you joking?
Do you know for how long dh was around?

How are they struggling with the game when you the win ration killers comes out on top at all times this game is worst than Politics y'all have selective thinking on what should be nerf and what should be buff how is 3%boost and a shield killing the whole game when you have killers that slow down the survivors and they also has person to make them scream out their location
I played this game for 3 years now. I think I know what I'm talking about thx.
A perk that makes a survivor 3% faster makes the problems some maps have stand out even more. On top, it's extremely unfun to play against, because there was nothing the killer could do to prevent it. A "shield" or third health state is also extremely problematic, because the killer is usually already behind and struggling in terms of time management. Making the killers job take even longer for little effort, destroys the time management for good sometimes. That's why dead hard was this good of a perk for survivor. It extended chases WAY too long. Mft was similar in that extend.
With killers, that make you slow down, you mean Pinhead and Clown, correct? Clown is good in chase and horrible in the 1v4. Your not playing a 1v1. You are playing in a team against one person. The more time you get for them working on gens, the better. Pinheads chain is pretty hard to hit and can be broken with environment. Not that strong of a chase power.
Only doctor makes you scream. He knows your location. Thats strong in what way?
He still has to hit you twice. If you play well, you can waste a LOT of his time.
Btw... A Doctor SLOWS DOWN while using his power. Just saying.
-
Bloodlust counters dbds partly terrible map design.
M1 killers struggle with most tiles in the game. Shack, jungle gyms, long tiles and most main buildings are too strong for them, if the survivors plays decently well.
I don't know why we have to say this again and again....
If you only want to play against Nurse's and the like that only use their power, then keep it going.

She’s a territorial killer, not a chase killer.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3607976#Comment_3607976
You’ll always find me here.. haha
But first, 110 speed feels miserable. It’s simply not fun.
But mainly, there are still many tiles and maps that force you to play m1 blight a lot of the time. You cannot rely on his rushes all of the time. His power is not free, there is criteria that must be met to use power effectively. And based on the killer roster, it seems devs have made speed decisions based on that.
Hag, spirit, chucky are examples. Their power is free, usable at anytime, anywhere, effectively. They were made 4.4.
Wesker, blight, demo. Their powers are not able to be used freely and effectively. They are 4.6.
I could be completely wrong, and the devs justify speed some totally different way, but this is how I see it.
Thanks for the new perspective.
Gets me thinking about DbD's sometimes weird rules.

10 seconds of aura of an exposed survivor (12 if using LP) is enough for all the killers I'm facing.
A perk that literally shows your aura and makes you a one hit while someone is already on the hook?
Come on, do you see this being around in 6 months?
If I had told you this would be a perk 6 months ago, would you have believed me?
Yes. I see this perk lasting 6 months.
I would even understand a buff.
It's a perk that disencourages camping and encourages going for other survivors. That's extremely game healthy. Sadly, the duration of the exposed makes it hard for most killers to even get a chance for a hit.
Sorry, but I'm certain that this perk will stay the same.
-
@HugTechLover said:
@Xernoton hit it perfectly. It’s a very easy perk to counter. First hook, you know he’s got it. If you are the obsession, you can:
1) Get in a locker before they hook, and wait out the aura / exposed.
2) Get in a safe spot because you can predict they are coming for you.
3) Do absolutely nothing depending on your distance from the hook because it doesn’t last very long.
4) Run distortion like every other survivor right now.
The perk is FAR from OP. The only time I ever get exposed hits with it, is the clueless survivors who try and hide right next to hook when I’m hooking because they probably don’t understand what’s going on.
Well said.
A mediocre perk with simple counterplay, that can become alright in certain builds on certain killers.
As our Blight - expert, have you tried it on him? Should be ok, regarding his map traversal.
-
@DragonMasterDarren said:
Call it confirmation bias, but I rarely see FttE, and when I do, the killer doesn't get a lot of value out of it
I'm sure you're not having fun dealing with it, but personally, I'd much rather deal with FttE then 4 old MFTs
I ran it. It rarely gives value of survivors go towards the opposite of the hooked survivor. The killer will always approach in the most optimal way to arrive in time. Therefore, their pathing is very predictable. A survivor will outlast the 20 second duration. Maybe one instadown perk match. Maximum. Otherwise, people just play bad. We shouldn't nerf perks because of people playing bad.
-
Literally why?
I used the perk a ton to try it out. I even built a build around it.
My conclusion: meh perk. Good on certain killers. Almost useless on others.
Survivors tend to do the right thing. Go towards the opposite side of the hooked survivor. This on most maps, against most killers WILL outlast the 20 seconds. I've had matches where changing the obsession gave more value.
The best part of the Perk is the aura read and the survivor going off gens.
It's good on Wraith and other killers that can traverse the map fast. Maybe Dredge and Sadako as well.
That's it in my opinion. Mft was WAY better. But that is also hard to tell, because one is a survivor perk and the other a killer perk.

I maintain the best way to deal with this is tell the killer who's grouped in the lobby, and give them a pretty generous bloodpoint bonus (static amount or multiplier) for each player in a group. Then it will be up to the killer if they'd like to play a fair game or get a lot of bloodpoints.
Sounds good.

@woundcowboy said:
All games are balanced around skilled players except dbd. The devs care more about letting people meme and bully killers than they do a balanced game.
What would you propose to bring killer in line without making soloq impossible to play? Or making the playercount fall? Swf cant be nerfed. Its directly linked to the games playerbase. This is the red line in terms of balancing.
Also, what are skilled players in this game anyways? The "best" players are people that predrop pallets left and right, embrace shift w, scream on discord about how unfair that hit was and greed gens. On killers, its your regular pubstomping Nurse or Blight. Mostly the tunneling ones with map offerings, a ton of slowdown and some overpowered addons just to make things as simple as possible for them. DBD balancing goes further than just nerfing swf or Nurse. Its making tiles fairer. Its making maps fairer. Its making addons, items and killer powers fairer.
But what do you get at the end of the day? Flat lands with every player playing the exact same boring way. The more dbd gets "balanced" the more it loses unique aspects that make us enjoy the game for what it is.
-
@GeneralV said:
But people aren't doing anything wrong. You shouldn't be punished just because you wanna play with your friends.
Thats the problem. Thats why swf cant be nerfed. Some people just want to play with their friends and goof around. Not everyone enbraces discord in the most cringe and anti-grass-touching way possible.
I do agree with OP on the matter however, that almost all other parties in the game suffer because of the advantages, swf provides. Against a swf, where everyone is a good looper, all are on comms and everyone wants to win the hardest (brings best loadout, greeds gens and spreads on gens) most killers in this game cant keep up BY A LONG SHOT.
Ive had games as pig against some of these guys where i didnt even got one hook. It was this ridiculous. Then i challenged them to play on my turf (midwich), they agreed and we played a custom. I didnt hold back. I brought lethal and corrupt just to get my first down in under 4 gens. Jigsaw sketch and tempered timer did the rest. I barely got 2 kills (with 3 hooks if i remember correctly).
This build (lethal, corrupt, deadlock and stbfl + crate of gears/jigsaw sketch + tempered timer + midwich offering) is almost the strongest a pig can bring in my opinion. I very rarely bring it, because it gets pretty boring. I kill most groups at 3 - 4 gens remaining. Against these guys it wasnt strong at all.
What could be done is to give the killer some information on what they are facing. Yes, this would encourage lobby dodging, but there is no other fair possibility. If the killer knows in the pre game lobby, they can arrange their kit accordingly for the advantage a strong 4man swf has.
