The answer is to not get bent out of shape by losing a single game.
I never understand this mentality that losing a match is somehow an indicator of imbalance or something that needs correcting.
Even the top, #1 players lose sometimes. And, spoiler alert, despite what people think internally, the average forum user here is not the entity's gift to DbD and is very far from being 'the top'. In most cases, it's just ego and people who can't handle the idea that they might just not be the 'max MMR god tier skilled player' they claim to be.
And I said that?
I just proposed to give the killer a little information about the upcoming match, so that they can go in better prepared.
Playing the match out is still up to the players.
I have no problem with losing. I try to learn from mistakes. But it's not my mistake, that I didn't know if the team I went against was a 4man death squad or a soloq fun party.
I believe, that many players come here to talk about their losses because matches where you lost are more engrained in your memory than the ones you win. At least for the most part.
Many people seem to have problems with losing , which is sad but understandable. It's a game. Wanting to win is understandable. Calling the game unbalanced because the other side won in a game where multiple mistakes happened is absolutely wrong.

I faced the same SWF twice in a row. As no slowdown Trapper
- First match, I used Brown/Yellow addons. A few hooks but 4 escape. Post chat was just a single line "lol"
- Second match, I saw those 4 same names, I changed to Honing stone. And 4K. Post chat was "there is something on your teeth"
Its insane that changing a single addon impact the strength that much. I never dodge lobby, losing is fine for me, its just I dont know its SWF to at least use better addons.
That's why I'm suggesting to give a little information to the killer to even the playing field a bit. Swf has an advantage. Even if they are not good. They still know that they can rely on their team. They still know each other's perks.
Giving the killer the option to be better prepared would help I feel.

I think that it's not a good idea. Like you said, people would lobby dodge even more and what is the solution to that? Force players to stay? The math is not mathening.
SWF are players that are playing together. The solution is not them to be punished just because people want an easy win. 💀
What else would you do?
SWF is the biggest imbalance in dbd and the hole bhvr dug themselves when they introduced it.
It can't be nerfed in game because it would punish people that just want to play with friends. But if played at a high enough level, it provides the biggest power trip I've seen in multiplayer games this far. Almost no killer stands any chance.
I think there should be something done about that without making the soloq experience worse. Giving the killer information, so that they could spice up their load out is the best idea currently available.
-
@HugTechLover said:
You cannot punish people for playing with friends.
This “opt in” matchmaking would kill SWF, which would in turn kill the game.
It’s never going to happen. Perhaps you should look into finding a more relaxed game to play if DBD stresses you out that much. It’s counterintuitive.
I think it would be nice for the killer to know that they are gonna play against a 2,3 or 4 man.
This would at least give some information to the killer.
It's an indirect nerf to swf without nerfing swf.
Sure, we have the problem of lobby dodging, but isnt that already a problem that needs to he looked at?

I'm just gonna post what I always post in regards to this perk.
It serves 3 main functions:

- make chase run on autopilot
I'm fine with 2 of them. You however seem to dislike the 3rd. Nice! I do as well.

What makes me weird?! XD
I swear I’m not biased. Lol
I love blight, but I play all killers and play a ton of survivor too!
Friend, we all know your weird...
Because we are all weird.
-
Maybe set a good example and play some killer for yourself?
-
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of you!
-
I played a bunch of deathslinger the last few days. I was very bad with him, because I pretty much never play him. Therefore I wanted to give him a chance.
When I started playing I realized something that kept me confused.
All the survivors where WAY worse than the survivors that I normally face on pig, demo etc...
Like self-care-in-corner kind of bad.
So I kept going. I basicly slaughtered my way through survivors and learned a bunch of Slinger in the process. The worst part was how it felt to play. I had no choice but to hook and sacrifice them. Even if they where nice and fun people. Letting someone escape would make it even worse for them, as far as I know at least.
So I did the next best thing. Use a meme build and go for as many hooks as possible.
I 12 hooked almost 20 games in a row.
Guys. This is not ok. I thought mmr looks at all killers and adjusts accordingly. This can not be the case. After around 30 games of Slinger I finally felt my opponents improve.
I want stronger survivors. I dont want to play against people that just installed the game and have over 3000h less playtime than me.
My little experiment concluded in me going back to pig, because I felt so bad that I didn't want to play Slinger anymore.
I hope this will adjust soon.
-
Not worse. But still awful.
-
Indeed. The killer is not overpowered.
I personally feel it's way worse to not being able to play around pallets at all.

When killer tunnel a survivor, at least 2 other teammates throw themselves into killer's arms is already the VIP game mode.
True...
I just like the idea of a special survivor that also has certain powers. A bit more differentiation on the survivor side sounds interesting to me.

I just don't see how you could get condemn kills vs experienced teams in old version without said strategies. the tv took 100 second themselves to recharge and there was no pressure ever carry a tape. the player's struggle because kit was ineffective. Like even experienced players like otz said that old kit was not good to the point that a lot of player didn't really bother with condemn despite the curse being a major part of his identity as a killer. when your comment is "Tapes get used because she's a spam fest", it starts discredit what your talking about as if there is no tactical decision making going on in the match. "Good bye you monster" somewhat further cements my comment. I am not sure why your outraged/surprised especially if your agreeing indirectly.
I played her on the Ptb and saw it was bad. I left my feedback there. Hours of feedback and constructive criticism.
I think there is hardly any feedback on Sadako post-changes except from you. I visit the forums semi-regularly and your one of posters that always talks about her. I enjoy playing sadako despite her being m1 killer because i find her hit & run rewarding and her fast-travel mobility fun. The decision making in what chases you take with her feels more sophisticated as opposed other m1 killers. I also enjoy playing against her as survivor because i feel like the gameplay behind surviving Sadako is different compare other killers. It is one of the aspect that over-time has made not like survivor as much. that being is that every killer feels like you do same actions to escape them. that makes escaping boring. ideally each killer should need change the way you play to escape them but that has been absent in killers. Sadako fits that bill perfectly. a different type of escape and survival.
Oh god...
Otz said here, Otz said there. How long and how much time did he invest into Sadako? I'm certain I invested more.
For confirmation, I was 4th highest for condemnation on public steam leader boards at the time of her rework.
My build was: Surge, Stbfl, face the darkness and Discordance. Addon only cabin sign. I was good enough to monitor most survivors throughout the match and tracked / memorized the stacks I had on survivors. I knew how many stacks they had and where I would find them to make the most out of my tvs. I don't think, Otz ever put that much thought into playing her. Willie definitely did.
Are you kidding me?
THERE WAS HUGE FEEDBACK I THE PTB.
@OnryosTapeRentals@OnryosTapeRentals was also very active in the feedback section. Say that it was just me is honestly insulting to all the players that exchanged their ideas.
There is tactical decisionmaking FROM the survivors. Sadakos is almost not existant. Yes, you sometimes have to find survivors and hit them for more condemned. Thats it. Nothing more. No strategically finding survivors to condemn. It's map wide. Who cares. No TV prediction. It's every TV now. Who cares.
Most of what made her special is gone. She's super easy to play and destroys most uncoordinated teams. It's much harder to play against her than to play her. I don't like that. She was hard to get into, but had a strong payoff. Players like otz didn't see her full potential. Why did he not see it? Because he wanted and still wants a killer that chases and hooks with a slowdown mechanic. She's not that. Her power is the threat to instantly kill a survivor. If you played her correctly, it was absulotely possible to get one or two moris every game. I did that extremely consistently.
The strategic way to play her got destroyed with the introduction of map wide condemned and every TV being accessible. Her chase got even worse due to no more bloodlust while demanifested and a nerf to reikos watch. Mobility got also worse due to a (sadly necessary) cooldown on teleporting.
I can not stress enough how much this killer meant to me and I hope, that the developers finally give her the changes she deserves. Not the ones that make her worse.
I ALSO HAVE TO STRESS: STRONGER DOES NOT MEAN BETTER.

you mean it was legit impossible get mori's without 3-gen iri tape or slugging ring drawing. it is obvious your upset on losing to Sadako due to poor survivor play. As a result, your complaining about Sadako to get nerfed.
Excuse me?
I was a sadako main...
I played her since release up until the rework. I condemned survivors effectively while only using cabin sign.
If you think, that it was only possible to get moris using ring drawing, iri tape and slugging, your exactly proving my point. That most of the players didn't understand how to play as her and struggled. Therefor the rework was for people like you.
I PLAY sadako right now btw... Kinda as a "good bye you monster". I played her on the Ptb and saw it was bad. I left my feedback there. Hours of feedback and constructive criticism.
Now that they finally seem to notice that many players including me where right about the rework, I'm happy for the eventual return of my second favourite killer.
Pls don't throw around accusations if they are based on nothing at all.

No, it is sincerely my favorite map. I love it in either role.
No problem getting a 4k on that map for me as Freddy or Myers and I love the house and sky.
The sky especially is gorgeous! It's the most beautiful map.
The overall size is nothing shy of perfect for a 12 to 15 minute match as opposed to an hour long Gideon or Midwitch map.
I ❤️ it
I like the aesthetics on the map for sure. But in terms of gameplay I tend to struggle. The main building in particular is still very strong and wastes a ton of my time to even get a hit as an m1.
I found Gideon to be a rather fun map if you can play around it's gigantic flaws in game design. Maybe I have to do that with Garden of Joy as well...

I disagree, for me Sadako is more fun now, which stems from the fact that her tapes are actually used now. Before the rework, they were practically non-existent. But everyone their own opinion, that's why I put her into mixed.
But Freddy wasn't such a "win-button" right after the rework. The whole Forever-Freddy meta took some time to gain traction. Before that became an issue, the rework was considered fine. Do not forget, his teleport to gens was a new thing, only new Freddy and Demo could do this, so that obviously was very cool to see at this time. Also fake pallets were considered stronger right after the rework. Freddy rework was certainly interesting and creative at that time, his whole boring-stigma came WAY later.
Tapes get used because she's a spam fest. It takes almost no skill to get extremely good result with her. A mori doesn't feel rewarding.
Before, there was genuine skill to pulling condemned off (I don't mean slugging with ring drawing or using iri tape).
All of this has been sucked out.
Freddy with certain perks and addons was definitely a win button against almost everyone but the finest. Of course people like to play that.

@CaulDrohn said:
I feel you are so off with that sentiment, at least with past reworks. The recent ones where more miss than hit, I'll give you that. But overall there changes to killers (reworks and adjustments) were good more often than not:
Good reworks / power tweaks:
- Trapper
- Wraith
- Nurse (making her less oppressive and more healthy to the game)
- Doctor (!)
- Cannibal (!)
- Clown
- Spirit
- Legion (don't know why you place them as bad, honestly)
- Ghostface
Mixed reworks / power tweaks:
- Deathslinger
- Onryo (More tape interactions now)
- Skull Merchant (No more chess merchant!)
Bad reworks / power tweaks:
- Billy
- Trickster
Freddy gets his own tier:
- His rework was initially received quite well! At that time, Freddy with his original kit was considered F tier, hated by most survivors and killers. He needed one specific set of addons to stand a chance at all. Its funny how the Freddy nostalgics in this forum always fail to mention that. Or they simply forgot.
- The rework made him strong enough to compete against most teams. He was still hated by survivors (bc of Forever Freddy Builds), but at least he was fun to play as now (or not as frustrating as before).
- Poor guy didn't age so well, he received numerous nerfs, placing him back into D tier again.
- Expectations changed somehow, so Freddy is now considered "boring" by the majority of the community, although that certainly was not the case right after the rework.
- Also relevant to mention, while many suggest the the original kit would only have needed incpacitated for dream transition, that type of effect was not part of the game when the rework happened. It was later added when Twins joined the game.
- Overall, I wouldn't call the Freddy rework a miss, it just did not age very well over the years!
Sadako is awful to play right now. She lost what made her unique and became and even worse soloq stomper than she already was.
#bringbackSadako
Freddy was considered "fun" because he was legit overtuned. Everyone enjoys a "win-Button". Freddy was that. Super low effort, very high payoff.

Well said, my friend. Well said.
I'll always disagree with the idea that Old Freddy was the weakest killer back then, even though I won't ever deny that he needed QoL improvements. But as you've said, it didn't matter to me that people thought him weak. All I ever saw was my favorite killer.
I remember every trick I tried to learn with him, jut like you did with Trapper, @radiantHero23 with Sadako and so many others with their own killers.
The mindgames during the Dream Transition, the strategies for controlling the map... now what do I have?
Two boring abilities which barely work and a teleport.
It is not always about strength, sometimes its about fun. And when that isn't taken into consideration, players like us suffer.
We lose the things that make DBD fun.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3613388#Comment_3613388
No one gives a description?
But I gave the Forums a full concept:
I mean, what more could I possibly offer?
Agree!
Freddy and Sadako in particular where very creative killers in their own rights. The reworks for both of them made them stronger (in case of Freddy only for a while), but did one thing especially well.
WATER THEM DOWN.
They are way more boring to play. Sadako is a spam fest of a killer that destroys soloq and struggles against better survivors, due to her chase being nerfed. Gone are the days of strategically condemning survivors, mindgaming teleports and predicting the correct TV. Freddy was even more extreme when he got reworked in my opinion. Horrendous slowdown, combined with teleport and basicly clowns power on top. Set snare here, push survivor there and easy hit. The nerfs only showed the true side of the rework. If you nerf it, its way too weak. If it stays, its way too strong. No in between. Dont even get me started on the addons. Sadako barely got her addons touched. Only the "problematic" ones got changed. The other awful addons stayed the exact same. Freddy is widely considered to have the worst addons in the entire game. I mean, you could make his iridescent paint brush basekit and he would not be too strong in any way. If you can make the strongest addons of a killer completely basekit and he would still be realtively weak, that says A LOT about the state of the killer.
But again, the most important part is: They lost what made them enjoyable and unique.
I very much hope that they revert many of what the rework destroyed in the case of Sadako and that they heavily consider doing the same for Freddy when his time inevitably comes.
#bringbackSadako
-
Well...
I don't encourage you to do it, because it's pretty boring, but....
You can still play chess merchant. You can still put on old reliable Gen kick and play at least half an hour with her. Maybe even the whole hour if the survivors are not ready for it.
Singularity isn't good at holding anything I find. Hux is good at aggressive chase, not at defending. Emps destroy that.
Knight is ok I guess...
Other killers...
Demo with the purple addons that shows killer instinct near portals is great for Gen observation.
Do what you can't keep yourself from doing.
-
@Tsulan said:
But they are both on the same page. 2 survivors hiding and not doing anything is a situation where the killer can´t progress the game.
Do you know how many lockers exist on a map? The survivors could constantly switch lockers and even if the killer checks every single locker, the survivors could just hide in one he already checked. Thats keeping the game hostage and is bannable.
3 genning isn´t holding the game hostage. As both the survivors and the killer can progress the match one way or another.
Slow progress is indeed still progress.

We now have a weekly roadmap, a monthly roadmap and specific information on what is gonna change and when. This is huge of you ask me. Sure, one could say that this should be standart, but it wasn't up till now.
Many people just like to focus on all things negative and overlook everything that has improved. It's so sad.
That however, doesn't mean, that everything goes super well. There is always room for improvement and some of the criticism is definitely justified.

I don't think killers realize that once they get their first down and hook other survivors are slowed down tremendously as someone else as to take chase and another to unhook. And if chases are fast killers can gain a reasonable amount of pressure in no time.
But not enough for 12 hooks.
Certain killers and maps, not to mention items, addons and especially perks make this impossible.
You can definitely win, just not the way OP seems to want to. And by all means, wanting to go for 12 hooks is very noble.

@Tsulan said:

Its not about the gen times. Its about giving survivors something, anything else to do.
I feel like side objectives are sometimes even too much for survivors to handle. Pig, Pinhead and Sadako have consistently high kill rates just because of this.
It's good for experienced players but bad for newer ones I feel.
-
Percentages don't work that way.
Survivors are better in the early game and can easily pop 2 or 3 gens before the killer starts to pressure. Killer is way stronger in late game, due to many recourses being gone and gets way more hooks then.
Also. The killers objective isn't to get 12 hooks. It's to kill 4 survivors. By how many hooks you do that is up to you.

Also might throw in Deadlock over NWO if it's a team I know is good.
Im rather a fan of finding killer specific builds.
Having one general build mostly fails to serve its purpose from what I have experienced so far.

Can't be that bad, can it?
Dbd is very addictive and has a lot of depth. Not the hardest game, but there is a lot that can he uncovered.
It is also the only game where certain iconic characters are playable as a video game character. If you are only interested in gameplay, then dbd is very repetitive. That can be good or bad. Some people like how simple the premise is. There is even a competetive scene for this game...

I'm gonna be brutally honest here. They are useless.
Just like the stalking movement speed addons.
Myers is not the worst in terms of addons. He has probably the strongest addon in the game. But then he also has totally useless and awful addons. I'd be interested in how much these addons are being used statistically.
