Hot take: for the overall balance of the whole game: yes.
Then other aspects could be adjusted without making Blight and other killers (Nurse) overbearing.

Happy new year to all of you guys!!!

Thing is though, that if tunnelling becomes slower, for example by making anti-tunnel perks effective, it might end up -not- being the most effective playstyle.
Not really.
There is nothing that rewards more than getting someone out. You can be at one Gen remaining, having wasted the whole match tunneling one player and still be in a good spot. Sad but true. Because as soon as it's a 3v1, the survivors have to NOT go down. Otherwise it's gonna be a spiral of recovery that is very hard to get out of.
Even eating a 7 second ds will not help to fix this. An alternative (maybe give slowdown for hooking each survivor once / twice before sacrificing them) AND punishing tunneling via something (maybe not a licensed perk people have to pay for) would help way more if you ask me.

As of right now, I have played DBD for 4,370 hours.
I do drop pallets.
What does "greed" mean? I'm not familiar with it in terms of the game.
Greeding a pallet means, that you take another loop in the risk of getting hit.
You know these situations where the killer closes the gap at a loop and you reach the pallet? You have the decision to drop the pallet, therefore being in a safe position or take another loop, risking taking a hit but also earning more time for your team.
As far as I'm concerned, Bubba is one of the most fun killers to go against. He's risk-reward. If you can delay him long enough, he loses most of the time because he has nothing but chase. If he downs fast, he wins. He's also great for Mindgames, which is the most fun part of the game for me personally.
If you don't like him, that's fair.
Sorry for trying to force my opinion on you. It was not my intention.

I don't like how he can just one shot you, there's no chase.
I think he is the most likely Killer to bring his own perks as well.
Have you ever noticed that?
Aside from new Killers, like Alien and Chucky, the Killers I face almost never bring their own unlockables.
I'm not complaining, just find it interesting.
Ok...
I HAVE to ask. For how long have you been playing dbd?
Bubba is one of the best chasers in the game and offers one of the best chase experiences in dbd. It's high risk, high reward. Do you drop the pallet, do you greed? Do you know that you can take another round based on his charges? Can you play around windows well?
Bubba is one of the biggest beginner stompers that is out there. It's not uncommon to lose at 5 gens against Bubba if your new. I was at that point.
Most bubba take their own perks? Maybe if they are bad, yes. Bubba perks are bad. The only good one is bbq.
Most good Bubbas use something like this:
Corrupt, Deadlock, Pain resonance, Shadowborn, bamboozle, BBQ, lethal pursuer, nowhere to hide, pop, trail of torment.
They also exclusively run speed addons with chilli's.
I very much hope that you will encounter a Bubba like this. It's one of the best experiences dbd has to offer.
Otherwise I recommend watching Sethgameon on YouTube or twitch. One of the best Bubbas I've seen so far.

He is so annoying. I hate him, I can't play well against him in SoloQ and I doubt I'd be better in a swf. He either camps and all the Survivors gather to watch or he has BBQ and it's just a game of my teammates swapping hooks. I also hate those pig squealing noises. Anyway, if he's the killer in SoloQ, just hide your aura in a locker and wait for Hatch.
Bubba is one of the most fun killers to play against if you ask me. Especially the good mindgames and flick Bubbas. It's the best.
Sadly these types of Bubbas are pretty rare. I always give those tricks a try if I play him. It just heavily relys on addons and I tend to play him without addons.
Truly one of a kind. You have a killer that is fun to face, fun to play and is a walking meme machine. What more could you want?
I know.... A woman with a boopable pig mask. 🔥🐽🔥

And let me just list a few older broken survivor perks/techniques.
- Old mettle of man
- Old syringe add on
- Infinite loops
- Old self care
- Old exhaustion
- And of course the few clipped above with many others
So please stop whining about how survivors or swf needs to be nerfed.
If swf was disabled this game would not survive.
Just grow up and learn that you need to get better at the game. And start whining about the actual issues with the game.
Whats your argument? Because killer was miserable in the past makes it better now? The game has shifted. There are still things that are horrible to go against. Both as killer and survivor.
If you have survivor players that whine or killer players that whine, tell them to calm down and touch some grass. It's a game. Nobody is ever pleased.
Best that can be done is trying. And this trying is what lead us here.

I'd kill that person none the less.
The heavier the killer gets punished, the more they do it.
There is still no alternative to killing a survivor early. It's the strongest slowdown in the game. Until that doesn't change, tunneling remains the go - to for many players.
There needs to be a worthwhile alternative in combination with a punishment. And I don't think adding seconds to a licensed perk is the right idea here.
-
No.
It would maybe reduce it a bit in certain scenarios, but make it even worse in others.
The problem of tunneling has to be dealt with in a larger update than adding 2 seconds to a licensed perk.
-
Maybe ego.
Some players just don't want to admit, that there are situations in which the killer can't be beaten. Especially a killer that is as funny as Bubba.

It failed because gen kicking meta was stacking. It was not too bad on paper. But in action, it was hell to go against.
BHVR need to add some middle game slowdowns, this could help to fair playing killers. Grim Embrace is good example here but it's really so weak. I am hoping upcoming buff / rework brings this perk into good spot.
I dont think gen regression / slowdown being linked to an action that is not progressing the game (Gen kicking) is healthy. It just leads to stalemates and long matches. This was not the right decision by the devs. It was worth a try but lead to boring and unhealthy matches.
I'm all for a slowdown / regression mechanic that is based on multiple hook stages on multiple survivors. This however would have to be worth the trouble and not linked to a perk slot. Everything else would lead to tunneling.
It's similar to anti tunnel. This should not rely on a perk. Especially not on a perk you need to pay for.

So 1 perk add 1 extra Gen time. It sounds fine on paper, but should killers able to add extra 4 Gens with 4 slowdown?
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618819#Comment_3618819
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon doesnt think slowdown perks should be nerfed, same for me, slowdown perks could be stronger. But stacking is the main problem.
On killer loadout, it should be "which 1 or 2 slowdown perks combo should I use, and which other 2 perks should I use to enhance my power/addon play style?". Not "Im going to use the 4 strongest slowdown", and there goes every single match without creativity.
I agree with that!
Also... just a small side note, using 4 "best" regression / slwodown perks is never the best loadout, but im sure, you know that. Many people feel, that gens go too fast. Therefore these players will use anything, they get their hands on to slow them down. Sometimes without even thinking if thats worth it.
I would love to see that change, but i honestly have no solution for tha, that would not be harmful to the overall game in some way or another.
Its a problem with the mindset.

I am not against the current gen meta. But i am against to add more. Current gen meta is blocking them or regressing them. You need to choice.
Pop + PR is decent. We should not add another strong regression perk into those 2.
I know people want to see variarty but this will just end with Pop + PR + New Regression Perk. People won't switch their perks, they will use them together.
So i am against new strong anti-gen perks unless if they can't work with current meta and works very differently.
Im with you on that!
I wish for a reduction of reliance on gen regression / gen slowdown. That was the original idea of 6.1.0. Sadly this goal wasnt really accomplished.
The less gen regression / slowdown we NEED, the better.

And one killer can be Nurse or can be Pig.
Current gen perks are pretty strong and they makes B and higher killers perform good enough. C and below are probably have issues tho.
Then that's more of a killer specific problem.
A killer stands against 16 perks. A team of survivors against 4.
Therefore one of the 4 should be more impactful that one of the 16.
-
@MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

That's fine to limit strong perks.
Survivors have exhaustion perks but they can use only one at same time.
Survivors also have endurance perks but again, they can use only one at same time.
You have to keep in mind, that there are 4 survivors and one killer.
-
@GeneralV said:
Instead of just buffing slowdown perks, we should perhaps fix a few things that have been done to other perks.
We could stop STBFL from going to the chopping block, give BBQ its bloodpoint gains back, revert that really old nerf to A Nurse's Calling, and so on.
Good point!
Faster chases result in less reliance on slowdown perks.

That's why i am keep asking they need to buff DS. Tunnelling is so free atm and it's braindeadly easy. OTR is supposed to help but it just meh level perk.
Buffing DS will be good nerf to tunnelling and then maybe we can see different strategies again.
Just buffing ds will not make tunneling go away in any significant way.
Getting someone out is still the most effective way of winning a trial as a killer. Until this changes significantly, tunneling will stay as a core tool in the killers arsenal.
I dislike it, you dislike it.
There should be a mix of both introduced at the same time. A reward for NOT tunneling AND a punishment for tunneling.
This, in my opinion, would make a significant impact on the amount of tunneling. It won't go away, because if the killer wants to tunnel, you can't stop them. They are a player with a free will. But it will be seen less, due to it being less effective.
-
Corrupt intervention is, as you said a fix for a core game problem. Many killers being incredibly weak in the early game.
Why is this that bad I hear people ask?
If the killer has a bad early game, meaning, they lose 2-3 gens for their first down. They will very likely tunnel or / and camp to get any pressure going.
A stronger killer early game is needed without being linked to one perk.
The problem is, how do you accomplish this when power houses like Nurse or Blight exist, that are definitely not in need of such a mechanic? Killers like them would become unbearingly strong in the right hands. That is also not what should be the goal.
The one way would be, to nerf these killers to make them more in line with the weaker cast and then introduce an early game mechanic that helps all killers equally.
The other way would be to accept that some killers are just way weaker and give them the early game mechanic exclusively. This however comes with it's own set of problems.
Corrupt is a band aid fix. Just as ds, otr, Stbfl and borrowed time are / where.

Like that it would be great. I don‘t like that they move everything around change some parts completely and so on. Just change the problematic things and leave the rest.
Well, the graphical changes come from the opinion to please the crowd that wants their game to look up to date. DBD is from 2017. The older graphics clearly show that. Due to its nature, being a live service multiplayer game, the devs tried to go with the time, updating map design over the years.
This sadly also came with the loss of a lot of atmosphere.

Thats what i meant!
Older atmosphere with adjusted loop design.

Hag still has to chase, otherwise she'd lose 4 gens before her first injury. She's not just waiting around for someone to start randomly running around the map triggering traps. The only non-chaser would be T1 Myers since his movement speed and lack of bloodlust makes every loop a near infinite.

We'll agree to disagree on this one, my friend. I respect your opinion, but to me the map reworks have absolutely nothing positive about them.
But that is just fine, we can keep it that way. We won't see eye to eye on everything, and as long as we respect each other everything is okay.
That is why I wanted to find a solution that doesn't include removing the reworked maps. Like I said, I don't like the idea of people losing what they cherish in this game. I did, and it feels awful. So I don't wish that upon anyone else.
I think having the best of both worlds in the game means having a choice regarding which version of the maps you want to play on.
I think infinite loops have no place in dbd. Thats it honestly.

As long as the power in no way helps with that M1. The guy said CLOWN isn't really chasing ppl.
Clown is the definition of a chaser. He has nothing else. Same with Bubba.
Some takes are just out there. Not every killer someone dislikes is therefore unhealthy or badly designed. Some are stronger in chase, some are worse. Thats fine up until a certain red line, that should not be crossed.
As i said before, basicly EVERY killer has to chase a survivor for a hit or a down. The only exceptions are maybe Hag and a survivor that just stands still being afk. Its always: survivor runs, killer chases, killer catches up, killer gets stunned or killer gets hit.

All extremely important for a Trapper main, I'm sure :)
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618240#Comment_3618240
Well, this is your opinion. It is a valid opinion, of course, and I'll respect it as long as you respect mine, but I don't think it can be stated as a fact.
It just doesn't ring true for everyone. Want an example? Me.
I dislike what DBD currently is, but I loved what it used to be. The Old DBD was one of the best games I've ever played and I watched it slowly become something I despise. But there are people who enjoy the current state of the game, and I can bring back aspects of the game I loved without hurting their experience. I don't think anyone would genuinely oppose the idea.
And besides, it doesn't have to be a classic mode. I was just brainstorming a few ideas, but a classic pack or adding the maps back into rotation also works. Maybe an offering that specifically takes you there... I would use it every game.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618241#Comment_3618241
That would be good. It isn't enough, in my honest opinion, but it sure is a step in the right direction.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618247#Comment_3618247
That I believe they have to do anyway, because they are awful in terms of atmosphere.
But still, I have a connection and the old maps. Many players out there feel the same. I don't think it is okay to just... let the old maps go.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618254#Comment_3618254
The problem, my friend, is that those huge map reworks have already happened. No one asked for them, no wanted them, and all they did was make the maps worse. At least in my opinion.
So what I am looking for is to fix both problems at the same time. The old maps are missed by many players out there and they had an excellent horror atmosphere. You bring them back without straight up removing the reworked ones and everyone wins.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3618264#Comment_3618264
Both.
Something has to be done with the reworked maps because they simply lack the horror atmosphere DBD has to have.
But I want the maps I loved back. I really really do.
The map reworks definitely made the maps worse in atmosphere, but not necessarily in terms of gameplay. Most loops and tile design has gotten better. The desizing of many maps, especially mothers dwelling is very welcome.
If we could have the best of both worlds, dbd maps would certainly not have the bad reputation they have now.
The graphical reworks happened, at least form what i see, because everyone is obsessed with better and better graphics. There is no denying, that old dbd maps looked..... blurry. But that griddyness also held beauty.
Some changes in texture or just a shift in daytime would help the atmosphere on a lot of mjaps a ton.

What part of the word "actually" do people fail to understand?
Example.
- Trapper runs at a survivor and has to make the effort to chase them down. Yes, he can place traps, but that is part of the early game strategy to think ahead for future. So it is still great effort to down survivors.
- Blight can just press a button when he feels like it and run you down so fast you can't make it to a pallet or window. That is still a chase but that is why I used the word "actually" chase someone down. Because blight doesn't actually has to "chase" anyone, he can just run into them with his power and get a hit or down. Does not really need much effort, now does it?
So you define "chase" as m1 killer walking behind you and hitting you with a basic attack?
Pls enlighten me if I got that wrong.
-
This is such a weird list.
What do you want to point out? Killers you like and killers you dislike?
Almost all killers have to chase you. Not chasing = not hitting for most of the roster. Exceptions are Hag and..... Chess merchant that just wants to play a one hour trial.

But however my escape rate is probably around 20 - 30%
So i really don't know how people are saying killer is not power role. Do we need 100% kill-rate for this

-
I'd say it depends.
If the survivors have the better map, she's definitely part of the underdogs, because she doesn't get a down before 3 gens pop.
If she has a good map and a good start, she's in the lower end of the middle if you ask me. Alright with some problems. A little less than on par with survivors.

@GeneralV said:
There have been some discussions recently regarding the horror aspect (or lack of one) in Dead by Daylight. And whenever one of those discussions pops up, the maps are also mentioned.
And for good reason! The maps are the very heart of the horror atmosphere. And when that heart stops beating well... we look at you, reworked Coldwind Farm.
With the Realm Beyond close to claiming its final victim, I believe it is time we discuss the possibility of the old maps coming back to the game. And I'll make something very clear for those of you who enjoy the map reworks:
I am not asking for them to be removed.
Remember that I lost my favorite killer. I am heavily against taking away the things people cherish.
But I don't think the situation is okay for players like me, who loved those old maps. Or perhaps new players who wished they could play on those maps. Right now you click on an Old DBD video, you immediately feel saudade (translated from Portuguese, "saudade" refers to an emotional state of melancholic or profoundly nostalgic longing for a beloved yet absent something or someone), but when you go play DBD your favorite map isn't there anymore.
And I want to change that.
There are many ways to bring the old maps back, some easier than others. I haven't thought of a definitive solution yet, but I did think of some options: perhaps BHVR can add a "classic mode", since we've recently saw their ideas for alternate game modes. It could go as far as to add old powers / perks and add-ons, but that is just a suggestion.
Or perhaps a "classic pack". We know for a fact the game supports people playing on the same map with different lighting, as modders literally did that. They could add the option for us to choose between old and new maps, just making it clear you might put yourself in a disadvantage by doing so. I certainly wouldn't mind.
Or just say "screw it" and add them into the regular rotation. That also works, I suppose.
As long as we don't take away anything that people enjoy, I see no harm in giving us the game we loved back.
We just need to find a way of doing so.
I think changes in atmosphere are possible without huge map reworks.
I just imagine maps like coldwind or Erie during midnight with some candles or bonfires. That be amazing if you ask me.
You are absolutely right though. Many maps dont feel scary at all.
As an example: Nostromo wreckage has amazing and dull atmosphere in one map.
The inside of the Nostromo feels amazing for me personally. It's dark, some grizzly details like the face hugger. It's damaged from the attacks of the Xenomorph with some lights dangling and blinking from the cieling and walls. Amazing.
But then you have the outside area that is just Grey rocks. Nothing else. Not scary at all if you ask me. Maybe part of the map could have been a cave where a part of the Xenomorph hive could be showcased. Running through corridors filled with eggs sounds like an absolute nightmare to me.
Lots of dbd could be improved by a simple change in scenery.
-
Every killer in a 1v1 situation with players of equal game experience should be way stronger.
This is my opinion. A chase should not go for more than 1 Gen if the killer doesn't make heavy mistakes.
In regards to the current state of killer is this difficult to say. There is a huge variety in power level amou g killers.
Killers like Nurse or Blight are pretty much always the power role in a trial.
Killers like Trapper, Freddy, Billy and others are always behind. In their matches, they are the underdogs fighting the oppressive opponent.
This is how it is right now in my opinion.

I dont think dbd was ever a real party game. It was janky and weir but not a party game.
Dbd is what you want it to be I feel like. If you want it to be a party game, you play with friends in a custom game.
If you want it to be more competetive, you use strong perks and try to play optimally.
In the last several years, it tends to become more and more competetive. So if you ask me, it's more of a competetive game right now. Both in gameplay and reception.
