How is watching hatch holding the game hostage. It seems people just throw out that phrase like it's candy

I threw that in there as a sarcastic measure but in essence that is what's happening because the killer isn't going after anyone. This is more of an issue when the gates are powered and or opened and so close to each other and the hatch. Biggest offenders are billy and Leatherface.

The other times it's a problem is when there's 1-2 gens need to be done they're close together and the kill is on top of hatch close to said gens. I had a Huntress do that on Autohaven Wreckers. The hatch was in between 5 trees and a dead end of a rock. The gates were powered and were close to the hatch as well so she just stood on the hatch and kept turning, She had los to both gates as well so I had to try and move around.

Post game she threatened to report me for holding the game hostage but she stood in the same spot for 10 mins while I had to try and stealth around her looking for the hatch and a way to open gates. I would've gladly taken the hatch but I knew she as just waiting for the grab. I was able to finally get a gate open and just barely be out her view.

To me that's taking the game hostage because she had no intention of actually looking for me and given how good she'd been at downing ppl in chases had she found me it'd been over. But when she does nothing but stand in 1 spot never moving that's on her. If I basically did nothing but move back and forth in a small area then I'd be holding the game hostage.

  • @Someissues said:

Why is this related to Whispers? It's an issue with the hatch.

Because you complained about Whispers nerf being the problem in your very 1st post.

But there are trolls that refused to leave and

There's trolls at every level really and you go to the exit and hunt for them or just move as far away from the hatch as you can. They get no extra points once everything open/done and you getting frustrated just feeds that. The whisper nerf is fine since if there's only 1 person left you don't have to worry about running footsteps etc.

You'll have 1 target and 1 target only, and that's the 1 person left. If you hear running footsteps well you'll know where to go. Hear the voice well you know you're looking in the right direction, if someone's not leaving after 5-10 mins and you're nowhere near the hatch in some corner report them. That's pretty simple and if they come near you to troll well now you have them a lot easier.

  • The other way to look at it is killer uses it to hold the game hostage by watching the hatch and or gens close enough to it. I've had killers literally move back and forth not really checking for anyone but scoping the area. Afterwards you see they were running whispers and only scoping in a limited area.

On small maps or when the gens/hatch are close enough together the survivor is basically screwed because the killer is basically afking at that point. It only become sa standoff if you're not actively looking for them and instead just trying to basically no scope them.

  • Yes, as a Trapper main please remove the limit, I get capped out on picking up trapped victims pretty quickly, even if I don't grab them I'm tapped out quick.

  • Gen tapping is only really useful against regression skill checks and even then it sometimes isn't. If it's Ruin I either go looking for it if the killer is close or keep going if they aren't. If they're close enough to be seen or heartbeat I'll skulk off and go looking for it, same as others will probably do.

  • As a Trapper main he should have 2-3 traps in his base kit, the setting time is fabulous but don't make him waste an addon for more slots.

Like I've said in other threads, I don't have an issue with this and suggested the very same things. Also those complaining about it both sides need to adapt to the changes since the only things in life that never changing are death and taxes.

I never said there weren't some decent survivors around.
I just said the complaining people are just hilarious, especially since they basically give 0 arguments for the most part.

Oh agreed and I understood that from before, both sides have their contingent of idiots shall we say. Most ppl will adapt over time and some will just never change.

There the salt from both sides is real and good grief the whininess because it wasn't all for one side or the other.

Oh and this thread takes the cake.

    Dont whine. Adapt.

The funny thing is in another thread killer mains are whining just as much since they got a DS nerf they wanted. Personally I like the survivor changes and since I don't use either Adrenaline, SB or DS it won't bother me much.

For my Trapper main the new changes look interesting and I'll adapt to them. The survivor changes are some of what I'd suggested in another thread anyways. The really funny thing is the DS change is what some of the killer mains have asked for, now they get it and whine about it.

  • @Lowbei said:
do you people take literally every bait you see?

Agreed, if it's you they seem to take it with a grain of salt, otherwise it's

  • As a Claudette main I've got no problem with the self care changes andare what i'd suggest in another thread before. If you have a med kit that should keep the progress, if not then you start at zero. I've never dropped a pallet only to try and heal in front of the killer. I also don't use SB or DS.

I haven't yet read the changes but I think they're fine, especially with the new aura changes and if anything this will put players probably a lot closer to their true rank on survivor side. I know that'll get me some hate but it's absolutely true if you're good you'll remain where you are or climb higher. If not then you're going to drop to where you probably would've been.

When I heal with SC and Botany I've always tried to find a nice quiet place far away to heal without getting interrupted. Most of the time I manage to do so, sometimes the killer finds me. These changes are long overdue.

  • There's one in Haddonfield/Springfield always under the picnic table. I've always wanted to grab the thing lol.

  • Just adjust it on billy and problem is solved but as far as crossing 40 meters in 3 secs yeah Haddonfield/Springfield says he can. Same for swamp and some of the other maps I've seen them come running across a map with the better addons for it in a few seconds.

I've hid behind a gen before only to have a Billy come flying towards me and turn ona dime and nail me. I've spectated Billy's doing the same. They don't need to bother camping when they can cover most of the map in a few seconds.

@Davivix Actually crouching isn't such a problem for the hag. A trap that wasn't triggered is still there and it still slowed survivors down. So having a negativ effect on them. Actually what's more annoying is, the fact, that survivors can destroy her map control, by just triggering all her traps once it's safe enough to do so.

I had a Hag on Cow farm map with the 3 story house and she put all 10 of her trap in the basement and on the stairs. I ran down the stairs and into the basement and triggered all 10 at once it was pretty hilarious.

  • @Master I've had quite a few killers wait to see what the map is and dc instantly or if they don't down someone instantly in a chase. some have gotten someone down then gone after someone else not gotten them then bailed before 1st gen is done.

These are the ones I'm most upset with because why queue up if you're just going to quit, same for survivor side. Both sides should get there stuff back when that happens. Because when you lose common stuff hey no big deal, uncommon yeah that sucks, especially if it's something decent.

But rare and ultra very rare I mean come on that shouldn't be taken because someone wants to be a jerk.

    A little self explanatory.
I was in a match with a really great flashlight, with the best addons, the killer was a leatherface and was chasing someone, I flashlight save them and he then goes after me, eventually hitting me and getting me away from my flashlight. I do my best to avoid getting hit, using pallets, and all the jazz (key note, I wasn't pallet looping or anything, was just running away) he eventually DCs and then I've lost the only flashlight, and my addons

Sure, a non-guilty survivor with a lightsabre, forgive me but I have doubts about that story.

But sure, give survivors back their items if the killer DCs, but then also give killers back their addons if a survivor DCs, that would only be fair

The killer gets quitter bonus point of 625 per and oftentimes doesn't lose all the addons and item. The quitter bonus if they person hasn't been hooked yet should be a lot higher. But survivors get screwed much worse. I've had killer see the teams and then either bail just as the game is loading or just after it. Sometimes it's the fact of the map they don't like.

As a killer I've had 1-3 ppl quit the moment the map loads and they don't like it or they see which killer I'm on or they get hit/downed 1x. I get 625 bonus points for a quitter big deal, I lose out on anywhere from 1-6k plus if not more. For survivors I can if I live till end and get out get upwards of 25-40k. If they quit as discussed i get almost nothing.

You shouldn't be punished by losing stuff because some jerk quits on you, it's that simple and it doesn't matter which side does it. Also I've never rage quit on either side even when i knew it was a SWF group or 1-3 ppl quit and left me to do it all.

Almost 35 year Republican but try and use another failed insult. I choose to be a human being that values good behavior.

  • I think giving him more speed when you see good ones running across a large map in a few seconds is kind silly. Better gen smashing powers would help like he does way more gen regression and harder skill checks would help him more. also he's supposed to be a cowering presence and on farms maps he's a lot harder to see coming.

The really good ones can charge and steer exceptionally well and on a small map giving him a speed boost would make him disgusting.

I think killers are used to camp to get at least a kill because the game is too short and they dont want to unrank.. i had some games as killer where i got 18-20k points and -1 pip cuz i didnt have a kill (hooked three survivors two times)
You are the killer and you have to KILL but i think you should be able to avoid unranking if you dont get kills but you succesfully chase and hook people + generator damage + breaking stuff ...

Whats the difference between hooking four survivors two times (1) and hooking two survivors to the death (2)?
I think the first one requires more skill and the second one is the way to get more rewards.. The game is rewarding you for camping.

I think i would be very happy if they Rework this system + limit the progression of the first stage of the hook

PD: If someone can do the maths behind (1) and (2) i would be glad.. its just a feeling atm

    EDIT: I think its:
    (1) Devout aka Sacrifice 0 points no emblem; Malicious aka hooking 16 points bronze emb (silver at 22 pts)
    (2) Devout aka sacrifice 4 points silver emblem; Malicious aka hooking 12 points bronze emb (bronze at 11pt)

Adding Gatekeeper emblem (generators) and Chaser emblem is more complex and it may vary between matches.. but i suppose the (1) may have silver/gold chaser emblem and (2) silver emblem.

Im not adding gatekeeper because it may be the same result, although the (1) match may last some minutes longer. (2 minutes with 2 generators = 5400 points, whereas the cap between medals is 10k, sometimes they may get the same badge and sometimes (1) will reach the next stage)

    (1) = No emblem (0), bronze (1), gold (3). 4 points + 1/2/3 depending on game length/generators
    (2) = silver (2), bronze (1), silver (2). 5 points + 1/2/3 depending on game length/generators

    (1) Has a chance to unrank (5 pts) (i used gold chaser and not silver chaser)

The skilled one has greater chance to unrank than the facecamping killer (way more easy)

Final thoughts: The malicious (hooking) and sacrifice emblems should be reworked into one emblem (hooking + killing)

That's some really intriguing ideas there, as a killer I can see the complaints but to cottner some of them you could make it take longer to unhook. But the closer the killer is to the hook the quicker the unhook becomes but with a hard cap on how quick it can be. It'd be determined by x amount of time person has been hooked and how close killer is to hook and for how long.

So if killer is camping unhook can be 2 seconds, but normal unhook if killer is really far away would be 10 secs. Perhaps even with a skill check to ensure you don't botch the unhook. But the skill check would require killer to be x distance away to make it fair. The killer if they were beyond say x distance would get a notification similar to gen warning. But again they'd have to be pretty far away so that like Leatherface and hillbilly, Nurse, Hag don't just ge there 2 seconds later.

The skill check could make it go quicker than the 10 seconds similar to something like the higher items and addons.

  • 42 hours isn't enough time really and yes it's really difficult when you 1st start out since the 20-15 ranks especially for newer players is heavily killer biased. also you'll find campers at pretty much all ranks except for the 1-5 range most likely. Just keep at it, play killers that're easy to play for a break then go back and play survivor you like.

  • @Lowbei said:
some people report you for reporting them.

I've actually had ppl threaten to report me if I report them for reporting me while they were racist, homophobic, etc. Those i just laugh and think to myself go right ahead.

  • I've often wondered after talking to SWF ppl that it doesn't allow you to do that let alone just invite direct from in game.

  • @Davivix Crouching is fine since on some maps you can't see it and quite often it still triggers even when crouched over. Also copying someone would be just as broken as Nurse is now.

  • Few things to remember here that often get overlooked.

    1. Reporting for camping is because devs haven't done a good job letting newer players or most of playerbase not aware of it. That camping is a legit strategy, the same is true for pallet looping. So unless and until they do those reports will happen. It wasn't until @AlexAnarchy told me about it and linked me the video I was aware of it. Now granted i started the game a few months ago or so.

    2. chat abuse should still be reported, the we're all adults here isn't true and even some of the adults act like 6 year olds. If the jerks don't get nailed early, they'll just get emboldened and do it more. I actually laugh at most of the insults post game and only report for the line crossers to me. Teh death threats, racist, homophobic etc.

3.Abusing the report system should get you a punish but 1 month ban for 1st talk about draconian. You'd turn people away from reporting entirely out of fear that gasp they might get nailed for a valid report that couldn't be proven. Most places give you some leeway but eventually start making your reports worthless unless you're really bad at abusing it then they nuke you with harsher punishments.

I've had both sides threaten to report me falsely because gasp I didn't give them a free win or kill, I mean good grief I'm not going to run up to the killer and say ehre take me I'm yours. For survivors it's either why didn't you save me from the camper, well duh and or you only did 3 gens etc.

As a killer it's wah I'm reporting you for tunneling me, well geez you keep pallet looping me and you have a flashlight. What did you think was going to happen to you I was just going to let you go after smacking you? No, I'm hooking your ass and since you keep running into your teammates i keep interrupting the gens progression.

You are always talking about me, stop it and just discuss the idea, its quite different from the one they tried a year ago.. but your mind is closed up, you have a big "NO" waiting in your keyboard before you read my post.

Dont you want this game to grow bigger ? I do, and taking care of 95% (random generated number) of the player base is the best way.
High rank?? pfft, who is playing at high rank? tryhard kids? lot of the good players are quitting games before they die to save their loot and they are rank 20... (Found a lot of those enemies this weekend, do i have to record and send my games as killer to you?)

The bolded parts stand out and perhaps it's you who should be reading what you've posted and editing your post. I had 4 games earlier after posting and in all 3 the killer camped. The Shape face camped, The Pig face camped to an extent, Leatherface camped, The huntress face camped.

In 1 of those the camper got 4 kills which was the Shape and in another 2 games had 3 kills. The Pig got 3 and Leatherface got 2 while face camping petty much the entire time. He almost got the 2 survivors one of which was me trying to get the 2nd person.

The last map was the Huntress and she face camped mercilessly each time. Once the 1 sac got done she faced camped at the hook on a hill and just basically tea bagged the person. She saw another survivor and hatched them and then only then did she come down and down them and then try and get me.

After she got the 3 sac done I was able to get the last gen needed done and found out she had been camping the hatch while I did the gen. She was also able to see both exits and camped there and after I got out because I found the 1 place to stand she couldn't see she said the following.

Reported for holding the game hostage, because it took me 5-7 minutes to get the gen done which I'd had to sneak around her for and then sneak around where she was camping so as not to reward her for camping.
Bottom line is your idea is only going to reward the killers and encourage them to camp more.

The only thing that will fix it is either a rework of the Altruism reward and or a better incentive not to camp. Because if they're camping I'm not risking giving another kill just for some Altruistic points that'll get lost the moment i get hooked or anyone else does.

It's not supposed to be easy to get 4 Iridescent rewards and while I've managed to do so, I've also pipped without ever helping someone because of a camper. I do gens, I cleanse, open chests, go into the basement if it's far away etc.

If you want to fix it come up with a way to encourage, NOT PUNISH killers that rewards them better for not camping.

@powerbats I'd buy into that theory if this wasn't the case with every patch they've ever released for the consoles.

Well lets not forget the code is spaghetti atm and they've talked about reworking it. also after all the privacy and other stuff going on MS and Sony are probably being extra diligent to deal with all the new rules and regulations. While they probably get rejected 1st time around that's pretty standard for most of what gets sent to them now by everyone.

They've been burned too often by poorly vetted stuff long before DBD came out. Ahem Blizzard/EA/Activision to name a few.

  • @TheChanelOberlin said:
As I’ve said certification should take 10 days in a worst case scenario. That’s the longest time for a patch to be certified, the only way it takes longer is if the platform decides to reject it.
if the patch doesn’t hit st midnight, tonight with the content available on stores at midnight as is usually the case with this game they’re lying through their teeth and either didn’t submit it when they said they did or it’s been rejected.
if it isn’t live tonight and they keep trying to blame Sony and MS I see things going south for them fast, MS and Sony already responded saying it’s not their fault, it’s the developers as they have one day certification which they chose not to use due to an extra upfront cost

There's another explanation, Microsoft and Sony are taking longer due to perhaps an update on their side. As someone who sued to work in high tech and dealt with certification the posts like this are astounding. You so called experts haven't got the slightest idea what is going on or why it might take longer.

Also don't forget that each country has different laws and such that they have to deal with. Think China and the EU or any other countries that have much stricter controls.

  • This is from 1 match where the Clown camped most of the match.

I still managed to get good points and while i got sac'd I still pipped. The problem remains the same you're asking for something the devs have already said they're not going to give. Yes you need to get Altruistic points to really score the most behind survival. But again you're not always going to be able to do that unless you'r in a SWF group.

As others have already posted they tried punishing killers for camping, survivors just abused the heck out of it. Just as face camping is a legit strategy so is pallet looping. IF you want altruistic points then make the killer pay by doing gens so he has to leave the hook.

There's maps where I get zero Altruistic points because of a camper yet still pip because i do gens, escape and anything else i can. It still boils down to you're going to reward the camper more because he knows the Altruistic ones want to get those points.

So he gets more free kills the longer he camps, in fact he gets them quicker and easier since they come to him. The smarter survivors, especially those at higher ranks aren't going to care, they'll keep doing gens because that gives them the most.

Also this wasn't an attempt to troll you by asking about what you had hidden since the moment you hide stuff you invite suspicion you're up to something. You insult others and then turn around and complain about it if someone insults you. That doesn't help your discussion at all and stop taking criticism of your ideas personal. If you can't take criticism without resorting to flaming then you should avoid posting ideas.

Lastly use that criticism and learn from it, identify the flaws in your idea and find solutions. That's how better ideas are made, not by insulting others.

  • What's even funnier is when 2 trolls are in post game chat trying to insult you as the killer after making another person rage quit and bragging about it. They've been raging that I won't leave the end of game chat screen for the last 15 mins or so. I'd post the video of the chat but no name and shame sadly lol.

But in all seriousness it's a game people, just try and have fun and if things go back just mentally yell at them in post game chat.

  • @Mc_Harty said:
I just wanted to point out that the people avocating that the hatch shouldn't be survivor sided clearly don't understand the [BAD WORD] point of the hatch. What does the hatch existing do for the killer? [BAD WORD] nothing. So ofc its survivor sided by default.

It exists for that lone survivor that played well. Not the team. It's designed to ensure the individual has a chance. If you're upset that one survivor got away when you got the majority of players in that match I don't even know what to say. You already won, stop being sore about it.

Inbefore I'm a filthy survivor main that wants the game to be unbalanced because I disagree with salty posters.

This and as a killer most of the time except when I'm the killer they already know where the hatch is and camp it like a plague. I had a Pig get 3 ppl and the hatch was in 1 of the 2 story house but in a narrow cubby hole spot that you couldn't reach without getting grabbed and sac'd. School Haddonfield.

I'd done 3 of the 4 gens myself and the last 3 gens we're both on same side of the school. One near the front and close to the house. One near the back of the school and one in middle of the street. The pig just camped there forever and would only venture out to see if they could get me before retreating to the hatch.

I ended up getting the last gen done and they made a beeline to me and hit me 1x and i managed to run to the hatch and jump in. I've had other games same way against Hillbilly and Leather face same map. They did same thing and just patrolled back and forth near the exit gates.

I think a good way of doing it would be that it doesn't actually ever spawn until the conditions for it have been met. Then once it does spawn it should spawn somewhere between the killer and the survivor. It would give both sides and equal chance to get to it, but neither side would know where exactly it'd be at. So do you veer left, veer right or go straight down the middle to try and find it.

The killer would have an advantage of being quicker and not having to hide while looking. The survivor gets to choose which way they go to look for it while trying to avoid the killer. If one goes the wrong way ie left instead of right they lose. You could also make it take time to close the hatch and not be instantaneous. It should take say 5-10 seconds, the survivor could use this time to try and finish a gen or if gates are powered try and open 1.

  • I've had a rash of survivor dc's playing both sides and killers have been dodging both lobbies and games way more often lately too. It reminds me of when they did the free weekend how bad it was.

Really? im not showing them because i dont want trolls to go offtopic talking about my setup nor rank.. i prefer to keep this quiet and focused

While you could use that as an argument that's just an avoidance since if you're running say a med kit then we'd know you were probably trying for Altruistic points. If you were running WGLF then perhaps you were also as well.

But the bottom line is what you're asking fro is free Altruistic points every match or at least the chance at them. You're also asking to reward the killer for face camping because they'll know that's a lot of points to have.

You're not guaranteed to get Altruistic points every game let alone other points either since each game is different. It depends on your teammates and the killer each time, if no one ever gets hooked or hit, well you get ZERO. If someone gets hooked and gets rescued that person goes some Altruistic points, do some healing same.

The game isn't supposed to reward handouts because somethings difficult, it's supposed to be difficult. So that you have to earn the stuff that gives you some of the most points.

  • I'd got a response from a mod other day and while they took care of it, the person in Korea doing this waits until they know there's probably no mods on thn just spams a bunch. They wait until those threads get deleted or blocked and then make new accounts.

@powerbats see? i just finished this one, i wasnt looking for it but the killer wasnt very good and the map was "the swamp".. gg 0 altruistic points, there is no difference between this and what you are saying

Actually there is since against both good and bad killers I've gotten 0 Altruistic points. Some have camped, some haven't yet it didn't change the zero. It's a simple fact that you're not going to always be able to get Altruistic points, especially against say a good Nurse or Shape etc.

The bottom line is you're rewardin the killer for camping by forcing other survivors to have to come near the hook. That rewards the killer since now those same survivors aren't doing gens. If the kille keeps them off gens till sac is done then it's that much easier to win.

Think Leatherface camping that hooked survivor, someone comes close oh well free down and sit there and let them bleed out or get everyone else. I've watched ppl get downed 1,2,3 by a Leatherface sitting there and basically spamming his Chain Saw and nothing else.

Lastly I find it funny that not only do you block out all the addons you used but also your survivor rank as well as the others. Yet you had no problem showing the addons and perks and offerings everyone else used. to say that looks like you're trying to hide something would be an understatement.

No, because then the killer would just camp and smack as they come and eventually the survivors would have no points. Think The Shape with Evil within III or a Huntress with the insta down ultra rare addon.

Thats like playing against a noob killer that cant kill your team, you are going to have low Altruistic points......

I see why it can be anoying or hard to accept, what about reworking Stage 1 using my method and leave Stage 2 intact (with progression) ?

Stage 2 might work but the moment someone gets hooked all survivors get negative altruistic points which are then redeemed once unhooked/altruistic done. The only real solution is two fold.

    1. survivors have to realize they need to group up and gen rush to punish the killer for doing this. If they do this and the person being camped doesn't struggle the killer is going to get screwed.

    2. The devs have to make it so that not face camping or camping in general isn't so profitable for the killer. If they give them more for getting that 1st hook and then doing other things they'll stop doing it to an extent.

Lastly killers have make your choice and that combined with BBQ is pretty nice.

Sounds like someone’s salty that their second chance doesn’t work.

I've yet to use DS and I think dribbling is bad as well. also 10ft isn't actually true since in the 10-15 rank range killers are using iron grasp and agitation so dribble is highly effective..

Did you invent a time machine and go back to play the game with 2016 killers or what?

Nope, this is within the last few days and it doesn't matter the killer they all seem to use this.

I edited a post and its not visible, i said something like this:

To counter your fears i have this idea:
All the survivors starts with 1000 altruistic points and they lose X points per second when someone is hooked. If they unhook him within 30-60 seconds, they dont lose any points at all

No, because then the killer would just camp and smack as they come and eventually the survivors would have no points. Think The Shape with Evil within III or a Huntress with the insta down ultra rare addon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if you AFK as Wraith in Cloak and the survivors cannot get you out of cloak, then I think it is possible to de-pip survivors this way as they cannot get any boldness points and altruism points excluding the "reunited" bonus.

If they find a flashlight they can burn you out of cloak. If he's wanting true AFK then Freddy is the one to use.

Well that and also if you're using Dark Sense it instantly elts you know if you're looking in the killers direction. If you run in his area I think you still get boldness points however, same goes for pallets/window vaulting at full run.

Yeah, dynamic generator completion is what what we need. 110 seconds though... it's too much. Not in term of balance - it's boring. Even with 80 seconds you see so many people who not doing gens.
    110 will be insane.

I'd better see 80 seconds from the start but buff killer's basic speed to make game overall faster.

If people get bored repairing generators they should go play Friday the 13th instead.

I think he's referring to the afk farmers more than normal players really. The 15-20 ranks have an abundance of them that just go around doing pretty much nothing all game. I've seen as both killer and survivor and even the 10-15 has a few of them doing that.
