Because they wanted the hatch to be entirely first come first serve.
The hatch changes + EGC eliminates most of the old stalemate scenarios, the only way anything similar can really happen now is if you have a killer that refuses to close the hatch and instead standing on/near it, and a survivor standing by a gate refusing to do anything but wait for the hatch to be closed. But I've only seen anything like that twice, so it's much rarer than both old hatch standoffs and people deciding to play hide and seek indefinitely due to the lack of a EGC timer.
-
Neither. Billy's fine and any changes the devs might actually do with regard to SWF wouldn't be direct SWF changes, but general survivor and killer changes as with the whole "lessen the gap + buff killers that need it" mindset.

A multiplayer game built around the concept of imperfect information. SWF voice comms breaks that, so either the game just has inbuilt voice comms and balances around it or it does something about being breaking the game rules with third party software.
This entire "third party software" arguement is completely pointless when it has been explicitly stated on this forum by Peanits themselves that using VOIP apps is not considered cheating in any way. It won't go anywhere just like mechanical nerfs to SWF parties in general won't go anywhere whatsoever.
General changes to survivors and killers (including the often mentioned "lessen the gap" approach) are the only ways that have even a non-zero chance of ever happening.
-
If you insist on mechanical nerfs you're better of uninstalling and never looking back, as that will never happen in any way whatsoever.
The bloodpoint ideas are at least within the realm of realism, like other ideas like the "lessen the gap" approach and the introduction of more information into the survivor basekit in one way or another. But I know many people don't like them as they feel like it's a "bribe" or something like that.
-
I hope it'll still be "spirit like", like flickering between the two sides before fully materializing on the correct side. Or just straight up phasing through the wall of vault like the very simple animation she had on her PTB.
-
I just hope she'll get a cool and fitting animation. Maybe sorta flickering back and forth for a second before "materializing" on the other side of the window? Or a more refined version of the "I'm just gonna slide through this wall real quick" ptb animation.
No need to make her physically climb through the window π
-
Makes sense when a change is announced in advance, just like with instaheals. Probably won't be as widespread anyway as any survivor can get them in their bloodweb and obviously only spirit can get beads, and not everyone plays spirit in the first place.
-
Unethical? Do you mean against rules or what?
It's fine unless it's done to take the game hostage or to grief, like a killer trapping survivors in a way that leaves no way for the match to ever end, or survivors blocking eachother until the killer comes over.
In every other situation it's perfectly fine. For survivors they usually trade a health state for the ability to block, and killers can bodyblock tactically to block pallets/vaults and such.
-
Usually tabbed out, and stay that way until I hear/see the match starting.
-
Didn't really run into any issues with the ones I thought might be tricky, but the chest looting ones took a surprising amount of time. Not even because I got chased all game, it was as if I only got matched with other survivors doing the same thing and we were racing for the chests. Fun in its own way though π
-
I'd flick the double bloodpoint switch to "on" and then break the switch π
-
You could try swapping overcharge for pop goes the weasel and bitter murmur for either discordance or surveillance. Similar functions (gen regression and information respectively) but slightly different.
And try swapping out one of them for save the best for last on Demogorgon. It's really good on demo as you can pounce attack your obsession and keep your stacks all game. Make Your Choice can be good for both Demo and Wraith as well.

Setting custom Aura colors.
This and more harmless clientside customization in general. I'd like to change aura colours, progress bar colours (swap the existing red, grey and yellow/gold colours to whatever you want), maybe even the colours for item/perk tiers.
For me it's just for aesthetics, but for people with colour blindness and such it'd be a very useful feature, especially the auras.
-
If they do it from the start they're probably either inexperienced or "playing for salt".
If they do it like that they're "punishing" you for some percieved offense. Don't worry about it, unless you did "play for salt"-like actions yourself or abused an actual exploit or something it's just scrub mentality at play. Similar to a survivor disconnecting because they "disagree" with how a killer downed them even though no foul play was involved.
EDIT: And oh, if they do it at endgame they just want to confirm one extra kill. Personally I'd still go for max points but at that point it's understandable and anything goes.
-
Direct restrictions and/or handicaps applied to SWF parties themselves will never happen, and shouldn't. As said people can just lobby hop as solos to circumvent it if they really want to, or more than likely just quit the game if they play it to play with their 2-3 other friends.
Only changes with a non-zero chance of happening are changes to survivor in general which is why the "buff solo + killers" and "give survivors more ways to share information" ideas are often brought up. Neither way is perfect and they have their own issues, and personally I believe some sort of Deathgarden-style context sensitive button to send simple messages like "I'm on a gen", "Killer is chasing me" and maybe some preset messages like "I'm going for the unhook" or "The killer is near me, be careful if you try to save" would massively lessen the efficiency gap between players using VOIP and the ones that aren't using it. Obviously this should come with buffs to killers that need it, especially when it comes to mobility and map control/pressure.
Even then it's not perfect. SWF also has the advantage of knowing eachother's strengths, weaknesses and playstyles, which can't be truly emulated in any way. But you can't perfectly emulate it, and it would be an incredibly bad idea and a waste of resources to truly try to remove/restrict it (removing SWF, trying to block VOIP applications), so it's really the only paths I can see the devs consider whatsoever.
-
Mechanical nerfs/handicaps applied to SWF parties will never happen so might as well save the energy and think of other things. Stuff like slower gens, less perks and so on are mechanical nerfs.
Stuff like SWF indicators, bonus points/easier pips, changing the baseline information of survivors in general to not screw solo players over with killer buffs and such actually have a non-zero chance of ever happening so they're much better ideas.
-
That sounds more like the server you get put on having a gigantic stroke than anything else to be honest.
It happens, sometimes you get extreme lag suddenly and then it evens out out of nowhere. Other times it ends in a disconnect.
-
Personally I'd much rather go for a combination of trying to make matches last longer on average (secondary objective(s) for survivors and such) and map reworks to reduce the amount of braindead loops with no LOS blockage/totally safe pallets. I don't mean short loops with no LOS or "bloodlust 1 = free hit" pallets, but structures that are more about outwitting eachother than "will the survivor be greedy with the pallet or not?" as the only interesting question in most cases.
If matches lasted longer on less "safe" maps and the needed changes to balance it around that duration were made, it could have interesting chases and also give the killer time to actually deal better with all 4 survivors in chases that are more interesting to them as well. And survivors get something else than generators to do even while ignoring "optional" stuff like totems and chests.
So basically make matches last longer so the killer can 1v4, and add more opportunities to actually outplay eachother to improve the 1v1 chasing experience for both sides. I'm not going to pretend for a second I actually know exactly how to accomplish this though.
-
While it's going to happen and people have to do some self-moderation (hiding chat or ignoring it) I agree, there's no "justification" or excuse for acting that way. Personally I either say gg or nothing if that sort of stuff is going on and move on, no matter if I'm killer or survivor.
I agree that people should call out people they play with if they act like that though, I've stopped playing with people myself in the past because they were angry and negative people that only add the the pointless animosity going on in the community.

But it is okay for survivors to boycott Spirit matches? Oh, you'd better believe it goes both ways. I bet you're a survivor main who enjoys the benefit of escaping alongside 3 of your teammates more times than you can count, and can't bear the thought of that changing. As much as I contemplate quitting the game, I don't think I will. I'll miss the announcement of moris being removed, and that's a day I can't miss, because I intend to use the ones I've collected for all their worth when that time comes. It will be similar to how insta-heals were in every match leading up to their nerf, so if you want moris removed you'd better be prepared to deal with the month-long mori fest that will undoubtedly ensue. THEN YOU can uninstall.
No, it's not okay for people to act like babies about stuff they don't like in the game no matter what they're doing. People using up instaheals or moris if changes are announced makes perfect sense, people playing spirit and using a lot of strong addons because she'll get changed makes perfect sense, what I commented on doesn't and is crybaby behavior just like people disconnecting because they don't like the killer, map, going down first or anything else. This is a multiplayer game recieving regular updates, the stuff you love AND the stuff you hate can get changed at any time, hell I've always loved playing Pig so do you think I'm happy about how she's been treated? But it happens, because that's how it is.
And try cutting out the "<role> main!!" tribalistic caveman bullshit please. It's gonna make a lot of people completely ignore your posts or discount them as low-effort trolling.

A lot of people might use mori to get that challenge from the rift done
This is probably the real reason. Isn't the next level of the tome or whatever it's called coming soon too? Then it makes even more sense people would want to get their challenges done ASAP.

The killers are on a strike against genrush and the spirit nerf.
If people are actually doing this they need to do themselves a favor and uninstall and never look back.

I have fun playing a majority of the time. If I start to because a pessimist then I just stop playing. Some rounds can get under your skin whether playing survivor or killer. You gotta know when to call it a day.
Congratulations you know what seems like it's forbidden ancient knowledge nowadays: When you start to tilt, take a break ?
If more people did this there would be way less people raging at eachother in pretty much every game that exists.

I'm just saying that some killers start behaving this way because they were bullied.
Playing dirty back against people playing dirty against you is one thing, taking it out on other players with no relation to the original offenders makes no sense whatsoever.
But I am well aware it's a pretty common thing in the community though. Someone gets tunneled, so they whip out the haddonfield offering + balanced landing next game. Someone gets annoyed as killer, so it's ebony mori iri head huntress or something next game. Doesn't really help anyone in the long run but I guess it's not going anywhere.
-
If I wasn't having fun with it I wouldn't be playing it.
-
Well that's a first π
On that topic, honestly should be able to load into a custom game with any amount and configuration of players. Want to go in alone as a survivor just to practice something? Maybe go in as 2 survivors to give a new friend a crash course? Or perhaps want to go in as Nurse on a map you struggle on to practice blinks, or learn what you can throw hatchets over as huntress? All of it should be possible if you ask me.
-
If we go by raw data I'm certain a lot of the killers some like to call "useless at red ranks" already have ~2 kill average performance even at red ranks. Every rank has a wide range of skill and differences in how seriously people take the match, for every jacked up 4man SWF squad there's at least one match of people that got there more or less simply by playing the game enough that season.
-
Probably sniping someone using OoO more or less across Rotten Fields as Huntress.
Didn't even down them, but I'd love to see their reaction. I know I'd be freaking out if I got to be on the recieving end of that π
-
Nothing, I don't care enough to throw my own fun away just to try to "punish" someone.
Closest would probably be people that intentionally sandbag and then act like they helped me or it should earn them a free ticket to run away. Not gonna bore myself to tears by facecamping them but I'm certainly gonna try to make them the next person that goes on a hook.
-
But scratched mirror is fun though.
Regardless, threatening to go out of your way to make people upset just because they dare to state something you disagree with is pretty sad in my opinion. And I don't mean the use of the addons themselves, you make it pretty obvious you'd specifically put them on "to give people something to complain about" π

They mentioned it on Stream and Peanits also posted this in another thread here

Coincidentally, she also happens to average three kills per game if not higher (with the target being two kills two escape). Fun is definitely a factor, but not the only thing that's considered. A game is meant to be fun though, advocating for not making the game fun is a hard sell.
And on the Ghostface issues discussed in this thread: I think that's mostly because revealing can feel inconsistent. You can go against him and stare directly at him and nothing happens, then you play him and get revealed through a wall because Claudette learned how to create a wormhole in front of her eyeballs or something ?
-
Just like with NOED, if you get hit with Rancor you've already played the match almost all the way to the end. You've have plenty of time to play the game and actually do something, I'd much rather get hit with NOED or Rancor than get mori-tunneled after my first down or something like that.
Yeah, the escape is tasty and all but you haven't earned it until you actually get it, just like a killer hasn't earned a kill until the survivor in question is dead in one way or another.
-
If people get mad at how you play that's one thing. If you specifically play to make people mad I personally find it pathetic.
Obviously never call them out or engage with them in any way unless you want to just drop a gg and leave regardless of what happened as anything else is just giving them what they want. Yet to see it in DBD as I don't stick around in the lobby and there's no way for people to comment anywhere on my profile, but in other games I've seen similar people absolutely lose it when no one takes the bait and just GGs and moves on π.

Definitely not working as intended. Had a game yesterday with me at rank 2, a rank 1, rank 14 and 15 all solo matches against a rank 4 killer.
Similar other situations all day and I saw it on streamers too.
Yeah I know it's not working as intended for others, I was simply talking about my own anecdotal experience with it. I don't mean to deny matchmaking can get horribly drunk at times as I've had issues with it myself in the past.

I wasn't asking for every word to be filtered out. I was referring to the words that will get someone banned. "ggez" isn't one of them.
I know, didn't mean to imply you wanted that sort of Blizzard-tier chat auto-moderation and I'm sorry if I made it seem that way.
I still believe it's better to let people type it, especially when bannable, as then it's easier for it to be punished if reported as it's very black and white. No room for "I didn't mean THAT!" or anything like that, but at the same time give players better options to moderate chat on their own end.
I wouldn't be against a clientside toggle in the options menu that did what you're asking for at all though, as I believe that giving players the tools to tune their own experience how they want it is important.
-
In my first game I learned two things.
Firstly, that running through grass to find a bear trap that I saw the Trapper put in that general area is a bad idea.
Secondly, just because it says "Attempt Escape" you shouldn't, as I tried 3 times and then died as I wasn't prepared to struggle.
-
But Ruin is great skillcheck + totem spawn location Boot Camp. I wouldn't be nearly as good as I am at hitting greats or finding totems if it wasn't for Ruin.
Thanks Ruin! π
-
It's working as intended as far as the +/- 6 ranks thing is concerned.
Rank 1 survivor and rank 4 killer at the moment and I rarely see anything else than reds and purples unless a SWF party with wide rank spread is involved. Obviously others might have different experiences, but it's working as intended for me at least.
-
Nah.
Why? Because not making people dance around a block or filter makes them type the words straight up. This makes it easier for whoever handles reports to catch it. Let people say whatever, if they can't handle their actions potentially having consequences and getting them banned they've simple abused that right and get no sympathy from me as they agreed to the rules of the game and then broke them.
And that's without getting into how no amount of blocking or filtering will stop people. There's always a way to switch out letters and get around it, and it does nothing to intent. If you see one of those silly lines in Overwatch you know that the person actually typed "gg ez" for example, it only works if the player on the recieving end is unaware of the filter in the first place.
-
As said above it's just a human thing. My side good your side bad, and it's a lot easier to discard an opinion you disagree with if you associate the person behind it with the dumb-dumbs on the "other side".
While calling out what seems like bias and then making an actual post where you discuss what was actually said is one thing, worthless "you're wrong because <role> main git gud" posts should honestly be considered shitposting/trolling if you ask me.
-
I press "Start Search" or whatever it is and tab out, then I tab back in when I notice the match has started. Usually I don't even ready up as a result, but if I do tab in and I'm in the actual lobby I just ready up and tab back out again.
-
Even if someone might also want nerfs to strong stuff I'd imagine most people would like to see underwhelming perks (both sides) and killers become better. I know I do, so I guess I agree π
-
There's a lot of horribly unfair stereotypes about the skill requirements on both sides. Billy has an incredibly low skill floor as he's very easy to pick up and play compared to some other strong killers, but stuff like curving during the initial high sensitivity at the start of a chainsaw charge is something that'll take a while to get good at, and even more to get close to mastering it. Obviously the killers relying on unique mechanics like Nurse, Huntress, Hax and indeed Spirit are generally more tricky as you often can't fall back on regular M1 chasing (which in itself isn't as "just put on enduring and spirit fury and then bloodlust 4Head" as some megaminds claim)
Same for survivor. So much "just run in circles 4Head", but that's more because it's a common thing in games to undervalue types of skill that aren't explicitly mechanical and "flashy". Hitting a crazy hatchet as Huntress is a lot more flashy and impressive to a random observer than knowing how to run all the variations of every tile, and how to combine them in an effective way. Doesn't matter if you hate good loopers or even the fact looping exists for whatever reason - it's still a skill that's part of what seperates bad, good and excellent survivors. And that's without even thinking of actions that involve more than one survivor, teamplay in other words.
It's not much different than the elitism you see in some games from people that play stuff like sniper/other aim-intensive characters/classes when they look down upon people playing support characters. I'd know, I used to be one of those snobby TF2 sniper mains that thought every other class was super easy ... until I actually started playing them. And there's a lot of these "softer" skills in all sorts of killer play too.
-
It's up to you.
Personally I would've done what you did, less to be nice and more before I'd much rather get at least one more chase in than just camp them as I personally find it boring to do so. But I'm someone who doesn't care a lot about the end result of a match and just want chases, so my particular reasoning only applies to me.
-
Most of the time it really isn't any deeper than people simply ragequitting. Thing happens, they're mad about it, they DC.
Personally I think the last time I disconnected was when it was blatantly obvious another survivor with Bond + OoO was helping the killer get everyone killed. Megaminds even had public steam profiles with eachother added as friends, so I'll give them points for being honest about it at least π
-
Just chase them out or go afk until EGC chases them out.
Is it pointless and a dick move? Yeah, but you have ways to either make them leave or simply not participate in or interact with it whatsoever.
-
Personally I draw the line somewhere near letting the idea of causing other people to have a bad time be an actual primary or near-primary motivation.
I don't expect people to let me catch them or avoid catching me in general, but I do firmly believe that playing specifically to piss people off ("playing for salt") is a bit dumb at best, and straight up pathetic at worst. If people simply happen to get annoyed at however I play that's one thing, but I won't go out of my way to be unfun just for the sake of being unfun to play against.
-
Inner Strength
Adrenaline
Second Wind
Unbreakable
Don't forget the medkit with a syringe
Maximum self-healing, pretty fun build to mess around with π
-
I don't really care about it one way or another. Rarely use it as I don't like endgame perks, don't really mind getting hit by it.
Sure, playing well and then getting hit with NOED can feel "lame", but at that point I've already played most of the match. I'll take that over stuff like getting mori-tunneled 1 minute into the game any day of the week π
-
Nah, the current system forces some sort of end to the match which is the entire reason why the hatch and endgame was changed in the first place. I don't care if people want to cry about being "robbed" of a kill or escape, as long as hatch standoffs or survivors hiding forever instead of trying to do gens has a time limit put on it by EGC it's fine by me.
Yeah, the killer can stand on the hatch and not close it but at that point they can't really cry if the survivor decides to waste their time without being a giant hypocrite. They can press one button and put a time limit on the match, if they don't and the survivor decides to stealth around forever that's their problem.
-
They're within a 6 rank range of you which I'm pretty sure is the general rule matchmaking applies in some way to mitigate potentially extreme queue times in edge cases.
Is it perfect or optimal? No, but it is working as intended.
