It is easy to land when the survivor is already infected. Don't forget that he still needs to waste time to infect the survivor which can be troublesome on maps with a lot of LOS blockers and the infection can still be removed with EMPs, so teleporting should almost always result in a hit to compensate for the time wasted on setups.

for sure there, you risk a lot trying to land the slipstream. if they break los or have an emp you just lose distance. I just dont know how I feel about a tp resulting in the same thing as a huntress hatchet consistently.

  • I agree. Hes got what, three useful addons? Those being the rejection letter, oxy tank and ball glove. His iri's are bad, most of his greens are bad, and all but 1-2 of his browns are bad as well. Each killer gets 20 addons so I know making all of them useful can be difficult, but it cant be that hard to just not make most of them useless. Seriously, who thought that anyone was gonna want soma photo? yay, I go 5% faster during overclock. Except overlock is now really short and I would probably just get the hit if I hadnt brought soma photo...

  • Dont think it will for years. I dont remember how long ago it came out, I think almost a year though. Recently though rift skins have been coming to the shop a few years after their debut so... if you're still interested in 2025, best of luck!

  • Im not 100% opposed to the idea, it sounds fun. Its one of those things where its a fine line between broken and meaningless as a buff. If overlock werent already so strong I might be all for it.

That is the whole point of the buff. Why shouldn't he get a hit after a succesful use of his power if there's no window nearby?

I would agree if it was a skillshot, but its hitscan and instant with a large hitbox from a large range. Its very easy to land and serves to close the distance and open up for a hit rather than be the sole cause of it.

  • The wiggle mechanic serves two purposes:

    • To prevent the killer from hooking you in basement/on a scourge hook every down
    • To allow your teammates to save you by preventing a hook long enough for the bar to fill.

Chases are the only skillful part of dead by daylight. It takes skill to win one as killer or survivor. It does not take skill to fill the wiggle bar. Therefore, why should something skillful (a hook) be lost because of something unskilled and chance based (wiggling off)? it shouldnt. This is a team game after all, and you lost the chase. If your team isnt trying to save you then logically there isnt a reason that you should end up saved.

    in Hooks Comment by nars
  • Not really. if you end up somewhere with no pallets, thats on you. You are in that situation because you chose to run there when you got chased. You also arent meant to hide in lockers mid chase? Lockers are terrible, they provide an instant pickup for the killer if you are found. Hiding behind things is far better. Anyway, knight and singularity really arent that bad. Knight is a pretty middle of the pack killer, just with antiloop with little counterplay. And singularity has the EMPs, if you are having trouble with him then just make sure you are always carrying someone. You arent meant to outlast the killer in a chase unless they choose to give up on you, your job is to waste as much of their time as possible so your team can do generators. If you dont have an EMP theres still plenty you can do, just pre drop the pallet. He has to break it so you get distance. Plus teleporting spawns you a good distance away. its not like he can just instantly hit you, you've got time to get away.

Also, when you mention that killers are faster than survivors you make it sound like its a bad thing. How else are they meant to catch you? Plenty of killers dont have powers that have range or mobility, walking towards you is their only option. its just how the game is made. DBD at its core is about the distance between you and the killer in a chase. Thats why the tools survivors have for chases are all about getting distance. Some maps have way to many pallets and others have almost none. Want my advice? Use "windows of opportunity" and "Lithe" . The first one shows you where all the pallets and vaults are, so finding them wont be an issue anymore. its also helpful when you are playing alone because it shows you what pallets your team has used/not used. Lithe actually makes you run at 150% speed for 3s after you vault something. For reference, killer movement speed is 115% and survivor speed is 100% (it serves as the default of 4m/s). So for 3s you are 35% faster than the killer is. Trust me it gets you a lot of distance. it pairs super well with windows of opportunity too, you can use the speed boost from lithe to reach a pallet that windows showed you.

besides, right now the game is anything but killer sided. Theres very little generator slowdown compared to generator speed increase, its a lot harder to control gens than it used to be. Sure a nurse can easily solo your entire lobby, but typically in a match with skilled players all the gens will get done. Its part of why adrenaline is such a popular perk now, because it gets you value much more consistently.

  • Yeah the chilis are crazy. His biggest weakness is window loops, and the chilis can give you just enough time for a pre rev to make the hit.

I can kite nurse for a long time, it definitely has counters but most folks don't know this and struggle, and with it able to go through floors and walls, that's a bit ridiculous.

If I hear a match with one I try to get it to find me first but if it gives up chase on me and kills others, they give up...

Imagine if survivors had perks that can do this, it's just so out of place.

I agree, most people just dont get how to counter her because theres not much incetnive to learn beyond just nurse. I actually like that she completely changes the game by going through walls, its unique. Its transforms regular gameplay into something different which i find fun. I dont really find it out of place, just really unique and interesting.

  • Yep! https://otzdarva.com is really good. Has perk tier lists, builds for every killer, and addon tier lists for every killer.

  • yeah, I miss when my pressure and skill could stop gens from going off... I miss ruin...

  • I sisters friend just shipped out to boot camp, shes joining the navy (i think; might have been air force?). She just tried to take her mind off of it. Spent a lot of time with out pets, watched some tv and ate good food all that stuff. Obviously a friend is nowhere near comparable to your own brother, but I thought It might help.

  • No they dont. Nurse, while not particularly balanced, definitely has counterplay.

    • LOS breaks
    • double backs
    • triple backs
    • double/triple back fakes
    • window fakes/fake window fakes
    • 360s
    • just running around things after she blinks once
    • (theoretically) pallet stuns
    • exhaustion perks especially, pop it during fatigue and you are just out of blink range entirely.

Shes definitely a soloQ stomper though... like almost any strong killer. If the entire team of solos understood how to play around a nurse and are generally decent players then they can absolutely get 2 out. If they cant, then the nurse is just better than they are; and if shes the better player why should she lose? Nurse is super fun to go against if you know how to play around her. Starstruck nurse + range addons + recharge addons are all already dead. What more do you want, one blink nurse?

  • FLUCKING REBECCA. THE MOANS MAN THE MOANS

  • Wow most survivor entitlement I've seen in a while. You are aware they've tested basekit unbreakable? And it broke the game? No?

  • your ping must have SUCKED lmao

  • yeah... even worse is infinite T3 + tombstone piece. Needs less stalk, but stays in tier 3 until he gets a mori.

    • correctly uses mechanic in game
    • this is clearly abuse
  • as survivor, you typically dont have a reason to change who you play. So most of your bp goes into one survivor... killers all have unique powers and addons so theres incentive to spend around i guess.

  • I... what...? Theres a friend system. You can friend each other and party up... and you have discord for communication.

  • I completely disagree. Sure, plenty of survivor perks are easier to activate... but its about what you with them. Lithe is terrible if you can properly chain tiles/know when its worth using. SB is mid if you just dont manage exh in chase.

  • Depends on their intentions. Staying to secure everyone can make it (via going for unhooks etc)? completely fine. Just standing there to be a sore winner? not fine. I've always thought that people downed INSIDE the exit gate area should not be able to leave, and that pickups should go through and sort of stun/fatigue from your power. Too many times have I downed that cocky feng for her to just crawl out while blights fatigued.

  • Eh... I see what your saying but I dont think I agree. MFT is definitely strong... but most killers on the roster have some sort of range or chase mobility. Any A tier killer can completely ignore it, whether it be through a hatchet or a virulent bound. Its effect is mostly neglibigle on those killers while having a significant effect on the weaker killers. From a game design standpoint, this is bad. But from a balance perspective, its absolutely normal for weaker killers to be affected disproportionately. Blight completely ignores speed perks, while sadako just stands there and suffers. Its really just the killers that are already in need of buffs that its oveprowered against. If you are facing a strong killer, then SB is always a better pick. The anti tunnel, chase extension, safety and power provided by sprint burst is just far more valuable to a good player than that 3% boost. I do think its an issue that MFT has synergy with DH... if killing MFT is necessary to keep DH out of the meta than please god kill mft.

  • He doesnt feel super rewarding. Landing slipstreams feels clean and teleporting/overclock is very powerful, but more often than not theres enough EMPs to turn me into an M1 killer for a good part of the chase. I like him, i think hes super cool. But hes just not as fun as wesker or blight. Overclock is very strong but most of the time it just gets the pallet down. After that you are back to just chasing as an M1 killer. Maybe if the 5% speed increase on his iri was basekit during overclock he'd feel better... I can land as many slipstreams and TPs as I want but that wont stop him from feeling like just a pallet shredding M1.

  • Bleedouts are undeniably a problem, but basekit unbreakable is definitely not the way to go. completely broke the game and made twins useless

Killers who must be already nerfed because they are not balanced

you've provided no actual points to argue for them being unbalanced. All you've done is go "boo hoo this killer is op pls nerf into oblivion!". Go on, tell us all about how overpowered wesker is.

actually I've got 1,700 hours. (I have no life)

    image.png

Check any tier list. Anyone in A-tier is completely balanced... where wesker typically is. Blights an S-tier but most of the community agrees his basekit is balanced and his addons are the issue.

  • @jesterkind said:

I'm... not sure I'm following, you say that the strongest effects need to be earned, but none of the perks you listed for the survivor side are even close to that powerful- except for Adrenaline, which you acknowledge does need to be earned.

Like, let's take a look at these. We'll set Made For This aside for now since it's new and up in the air, so starting from Windows, we have a pretty low-strength perk that's just nice to have. Definitely not an effect strong enough that it needs to be earned or activated- I'd consider it to be a similar-ish perk to things like Brutal Strength and Enduring. Good survivors just don't need WoO, and all the info in the world is useless if you aren't skilled at looping anyway.

Next we have Prove Thyself, which is barely even good. If it's used on one generator, sure, but if it's used on multiple generators in a row those survivors lose gen efficiency compared to working on those gens separately. Definitely not a perk that needs to be earned or activated.

Sprint Burst/Lithe/Balanced Landing are examples where you're just plain wrong on the face of it. You... do have to activate those perks. Lithe and Balanced do not function if you don't meet their activation requirements, and Sprint Burst puts pressure on you to either walk everywhere or 99 your Exhaustion, both of which count for these purposes.

Deja Vu is another odd pick, because it's really not that good? The six percent repair speed bonus isn't nothing, but really, all this perk does is show you where the 3-gen is. Conceptually I don't even know how you'd put an activation requirement on a perk like this.

Resilience is really the only one I'll grant you, because 9% repair speed is both noticeable and an effect you don't need skill to use, but something you're missing about survivor perks is sometimes they'll have a downside that isn't strictly an activation requirement, like Resilience's needing to be injured. Despite what some will tell you, staying injured is a risk in DBD. The other effects on this perk are either not strong, or require skill, so no comment on those.

Moving on from your list too, you're missing the strongest killer perks that don't require you to activate or earn them. You don't have to do anything to activate or earn Lethal Pursuer, nor Corrupt Intervention. You did mention Deadlock, at least, but still. While there are strong perks on the survivor side that you don't strictly have to earn - like MfT, or Iron Will - there are strong perks on the killer side you don't need to earn either, and all of those perks require skill to use effectively on either side, for the most part. I actually think perk design is in a pretty good spot right now, with a few noticeable outliers.

I agree. I have issues with *very few* survivor perks. Most are pretty well designed and fair to go against. The only one I can really think of is Lithe. it can be used skillfully, slow vaulting to preserve it. But a brand new player can easily extend the chase by a ton without really having to do much skillful. but even that can be negated by bad pathing/certain killers/perks.

DBD perks are typically less about activating them and more about what you do with their effects. Lethal and Corrupt, while completely unearned, do nothing in the hands of a bad killer. Lethal helps hypermobile chase killers get early downs (which still need to be earned) while corrupt corrals the survivors to you for strong early game pressure through skillful means. perk design is actually in a good spot rn.

  • Only nurse is even arguable to need nerfs from the ones you mentioned. Wesker is absolutely balanced, blight less so but still nonetheless. Nurse is definitely arguable to be overpowered, but I dont see what can be done without killing her entirely. Also, you have the WORST takes for balance.

    • Make blight and wesker 4.4
    • give nurse just one blink (killing her entirely)
    • Current billy is balanced and is the perfect example of killer balance
    • Nerf weskers addons
    • We should nerf killers based on pickrate, billy being a perfect example.

entitlement at its finest. You completely lack any understanding of game balance if you actually think billy is a balanced killer.

  • because wraith actually benefits from being cloaked a lot. Sadako just gets undetectable, a slow when uncloaking for no speed up, and a lullaby+visual tr that makes her power near pointless.

  • hmmm.... Im thinking there might have been the tiniest crack in the wall? the knights guards can detect you through almost any size whole as long as its LOS.

  • because its in character, what else should he say?

    • Finally downs you
    • "Fantastic effort!"
    • proceeds to tunnel you
  • @Pink_Ronin said:

They already increased the bloodlust speed for killers awhile back. You got enough of a speed boost, and there are other movement speed perks already for killer

I dont see why that means we cant get more, survivors have been getting exh perks for years.

LMBO, justifying toxic behaviour with the "desire to win" line never gets old. people play in ways that show a direct correlation with someone who is miserable that wants to make others miserable as well and its deemed "strategy" or "desire to win" you have got to be kidding. When or if you play survivor, do you enjoy it when killers slug 4 people on the ground to be bled out?

absolutely not i hate it. I also hate it when survivors all take hits and force a drop/struggle etc. there are plenty of unfun things for both sides that lead to winning, this one just happens to be much more annoying. Im not kidding, if the game is made in such a way that using unfun strategies is optimal then thats a fault in design. Hatch is really at fault here, its near totally random who gets to it first without an offering. The design of hatch inherently promotes slugging for the 4th.

I never said it was fun, just said that its the best way to win. I dont slug for the 4k in my killer games because I recognize that. The post was asking why its necessary, if somebody wants to guarantee the 4k then its a surefire way to do it. its miserable and boring to use it and face it and it needs to go.

  • maybe as an item, but basekit i think it would be far too difficult to balance.

  • They wanted to win. And they did. Why do survivors sit in the exit gate, rush a hook in endgame, slam gens? because they want to win. those things are mostly incomparable, but the principle applies. Its more than likely you dont get the 4k if you hook the last guy bc hatch.

    SCHRODINGERS LEON- i cant. 💀

cant blame you lol. its only winnable for me because Im normally on huntress/blight.

The nightlight annouces the perk usage rate at 4,8%. That about sums it up how "OP" the perk is. For comparison, Lithe has 24% usage rate...

nightlight tracks stats on a biweekly basis. It collects the numbers from the past 14 days, its only been 9 days since release. Plus other perks are way more fun than mft.

(im agreeing with you just saying nightlight isnt incredibly reliable after a chapter releases)

  • @Chordyceps said:

Both of these things are things that can instantly change the tide of a match. Overall, which of these would you say is more impactful and why?

Insta heals for sure. Injuries are one of the most impactful things in dbd. They are what let you get downs to begin with. Dead hard already proved that an extra health state makes all the difference, and the ability to just get another (no timing required) is insane. You can easily extend the chase by a significant margin.

Insta downs, while powerful, are weaker than insta heals. If you are chasing an exposed survivor, you still need to m1 them. simple W gaming and good looping can keep it from getting value. Exposure is typically on a timer or very limited in its usage; while a heal doesnt just go away after some time. You dont really need to do much for an insta heal, simply throwing a bunch of pallets while the syringe ticks down can do the trick against most killers. And once its done the chase is extended by a LOT. Adrenalines a perfect example; even without the SB it would be a good perk. If you are exposed, the killer still needs to hit you. Something completely preventable. While a syringe can be prevented, its easier to outlast exposure/the syringe timer than it is to get a down within that time frame.

  • no thanks, we already nerfed special item killers by letting you hold the item. id rather not allow for unlimited versatility.
