Nothing. You can at least try and get some progress for a tome challenge/achievement but if your plan was escaping that's just not happening if the killer tunnels from the get go

I forget challenges and achievements exist most of the time, I don't really need the BP.

  • @Xendritch said:

Play for hatch, start opening those chests and hope you find a key.

I couldn't because I was hooked after getting stuck on a tiny pebble and my other teammate forgot to get in the locker to avoid BBQ so it was ggs and back to the lobby...

I play killer nowaday just to charity Solo people a fun game.

Most survivors respect me even if I get 1K after 8-9 hooks match

Thank you for your service! 🫡

We honestly got to a point where you just gotta either power through gens or just hide. Personally, if a blight, no any killer, wanna be boring and hard tunnel at 5, I just be boring right back and hide. This is a hide and seek game right? Welp, lets do just that then.

I managed to get some chases in, they didn't even land a hit (because they kept trying to mindgame a Blight main) and then proceeded to tunnel the person getting unhooked on the other side of the map...

  • @Volcz said:

You got this! Just power all 5 gens and you're outta there.

    🧑‍🔧

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Thats the neat thing - you cannot do anything.

If the game turns into a 3v1 before 4 Gens are completed, this is usually a loss for the Survivors. And once it turns into a 3v1, the Killer will just farm points and go for Hooks, because they won and just maximize their BP-gain.

You can only hope that the person being chased is decent enough to waste time of the Killer and the 3 Survivors who are noing being chased know that they need to do Gens. But this is usually not the case. There is nothing more frustrating than either seeing a player being tunneled or being the one tunneled and you see other teammates doing Chests or Totems.

Funny thing is they hard tunneled EACH person off hook and wouldn't chase me because I mained Blight and know how to counter him somewhat. Left chase to go to the other side of the map where the unhook happened...

  • @Xernoton said:

Lose and play the next game. There isn't much else you can do in this situation.

Although I must say, that the matchmaking here seems to work flawlessly again. How does he manage to get 2 hooks at 5 gens?

    Zarina hacked the MMR system!!!

  • @Nazzzak said:

Just accept your fate. Solo queue is just a murder simulator at this point.

Have to inflate those kill-rates somehow! 🙃

  • @jmwjmw27 said:

    Nothing.

This game is lost already either because Zarina was unable to stall the Blight for long enough, your team was not gen efficient enough, or both.

If you are solo queue there is only so much you can do, take 2 hits you will just get slugged. Slam gens Zarina dies even faster. Do amazing in chases Blight just leaves.

Zarina definitely didn't belong in my MMR (the matchmaking is just that perfect) and I felt bad. The killer was pretty trash, just kept spamming their ability and trying to flick way too often. They left chase with me numerous times to go straight back to hook or because they felt embarassed, not too sure.

You should feel excited that you're struggling against a vicious killer. What? You thought your gameplay should have a meaningful impact on the outcome in a PVP game? PAH. This is an asymmetrical horror experience. Just stop caring about things like skill expression, meaningful participation, or gameplay (because hiding for hatch is the best play), and enjoy the HORROR EXPERIENCE.

It is not indicative of a problem when the outcome would be the same if you loaded in and walked away from your keyboard/controller. Nope. Matchmaking is fine.

I am truly incaptivated by such a perspective. This really has opened my eyes. Thank you.

  • They are purposefully lowering their MMR so that they go against worse players! They don't get a timeout or anything to punish that behavior.

  • Nope, just the beauty of the renown MMR system in action!

  • I hope it's not just Dredge's Nightfall and there's some more elements implemented to spice up the gameplay.

  • This would be perfect and reasonable.

  • It's the main kill inflater for basically every killer which is why they are too scared to adjust/add anything.

  • I'm so glad I didn't wait. The hope just builds up and then you'l eventually break...

  • I don't know really, I think I went for a snooze...

I hated her design, was super disappointing. The Mori just made her a female Freddy in my eyes, especially with the long blade thing on her arm with a similarly insane lunge. Her lore was pretty bland. Her power seemed boring and I had my doubts about whether she would be healthy to the game and, well, here we are. Had a fun time trying to prove how oppressive Chess Merchant was.

  • Not coming anytime soon. Would need a new game engine is what a game developer said or it's just speculation, forgot which one. Would make sense considering the spaghetti code and bugged SPECTATING.

  • Matchmaking is hectic for sure. Worst I've experienced on any multiplayer game.

  • The progress could not be any slower if it wanted to...

  • Well I got accused by a Wesker yesterday of subtle cheating and apparently having haste as if I was running Hope during endgame. Poor guy wasted his time reporting me.

  • People that know what they are doing when tunneling will abuse the fact a endurance hit prevents dead hard from working plus many other perks. Really irritating.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Other's have stated it, but people are going to play how they want, which has sort of made Tunneling seem bigger than it is. Half the majority of tunneling, or percieved tunneling, is the result of survivor players playing how they want. There are alot of player's who call tunneling when no tunneling is in fact taking place or is actually being created by other players that are not the Killer. Both sides are the issue, you can try and address one but you can never address the other.

Any incentive made won't stop the complaints and any mechanic implemented to prevent tunneling will eventually be exploited or even be punishing for thse who don't tunnel and toned back down to not being useful. This is a game with sides who have different conflicting objectives, players are going to go for the most effeciant methods, players are going to want to win and they are going to make mistakes, you can only balance so much until you ask, should this part of the game be overhauled completly into something else.

Others are forced to play like that. Encouraging them to play in a way that better suits them is only going to help less killers tunnel. These are baby steps that could lead to something bigger in the future.

People calling tunneling something it isn't is not relevant to this discussion - I don't want this discussion to be sidetracked into a what's tunneling discussion.

All suggestions made here can, in no way, punish people that don't tunnel or even be expolitable. if so, I'd like an example.

Tunneling is a big issue and it should not be understated. No playstyle will ever shadow it due to its effectiveness and little skill requirement.

  • @Chaosrider said:

As long as tunneling is possible it doesnt matter what you do unless it creates another way to easily win the game. Tunneling needs to go. entirely. There is no space to discuss this.

That makes sense, I was just thinking, what if the player is hacking or if they body block again? Again, a rare chance any of those will happen.

Sure, a change like this isn't that big of a deal and will most likely be over looked, but there's still ways to counter it without needing this. AKA not putting yourself in a position where the other player has a chance to body block you or just dcing and going next.

Blight's overpowered add-ons are used quite frequently, and is unrelated to the topic we're on? How can you possibly compare blight's add-ons to a game being held hostage? Do you even play the game?

If a player is hacking, would you report them for holding the game hostage ot hacking? I would certainly report them for hacking instead. Blatant hackers I've gone against just teleport and insta-down survivors and go next, subtle hackers aren't going to be so silly to do that.

The only counter you provided was to DC, which is unsportsmanlike conduct. Not getting in the situation is like saying don't get tunneled, sometimes it just happens and you're trying to justify it as if the survivor deserves it.

Blights with overpowered add-ons are not all that common. You'll genuinely see them running one yellow and one green add-on as they keep the rest for SWFs or when they want to let their wrath loose because they are mad. It's related to the topic because they are rare. I haven't faced a pubstomper Blight in four-five months. Haven't seen a game hostage in six months. I play the game, play both roles on and off.

  • The perk was really badly gutted but now it deserves another nerf? Like what would you want it to do then? It's a solid perk that doesn't even work half the time because killers bait swing or proceed to miss the easiest M1 ever.

  • Basically every experienced PC Oni 180's. There was a bug report about this but I have no idea what happened to it.

No, just let everyone have system that rewards by % based on their actions.

Making killers spreading hooks and survivors being more altruistic seems both good for the game in my opinion.

Yeah for sure that's completely my bad, should've took a nap and then started replying lmao.

The suggestion is that these BP bonus are basekit and not tied to perks.

I thought they were talking about bringing it back to those specific perks... Thanks for the heads up. Knew I was getting a little lost here.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3632299#Comment_3632299

It would only solve it somewhat because it wouldn't prevent it from happening, leaving players to still have the chance to hold the game hostage.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be a nice change, because in the odd case, it would help a lot and the game could keep progressing. It's just killers or survivors holding the game hostage happens rarely, therefore the change is not that impactful and realistically doesn't actually need to happen.

I get your point and I see how this would help the rare case, but realistically there are much more important issues BHVR should focus on.

How would it still happen if you cannot take the game hostage anymore? You'd be able to LEAVE the corner, therefore no one is being held hostage because it's impossible. A change like this isn't anything too crazy, in terms of effort, and it would lessen the workload on the people reviewing report cases. Something being rare doesn't mean anything. Blight running overpowered add-ons is rare, and yet that is getting changed next update.

  • @allana said:

Although this would solve the issue somewhat, BHVR isn't going to implement anything like this. Holding a game hostage through body blocking in a corner or something similar, is not something that happens a lot and would not be that impactful of a change. If you're being body blocked and the game can't progress, if you have to wait more than say 5 minutes, just dc.

How would that solve it somewhat? You'll be able to leave the corner instead of having to DC and eat a matchmaking ban in less than five minutes. It's a really simple change to implement and would allow a whole report option to become obsolete.

  • Five or six perks? Did I just read that correctly?

Honestly if your going to be bitter, just do not reply. Please and thank you, most kill rates now adays is from people throwing or people who are beginners in new lobbies, you'd be surprised.

Pulsar has every right to reply to a public discussion and going against your abysmal suggestion does not equal them being bitter. I mean this is absolutely silly.

Most perks got nerfed due to how annoying they were, take Eruption for example. They were far from healthy for the game.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3632186#Comment_3632186

Not saying I can't win first off. There are some things in the game you can't counter, but it's whatever, survivors can always throw. If you didn't know, survivors complain more about killers when they can't win, they always say it. Again, builds aren't fun at all, trial's are just pretty quick and lame and people like to be toxic, toxicity isn't the problem though, it's just I can see how this game will die, and it's mainly people who main the survivor role complaining 24/7.

    Dead crickets .

The classic 'the game is dying' approach due to a biased outlook on balance changes without providing any relevant examples.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3631948#Comment_3631948

I didn't mean perk basekit, just those % BP bonus system from those two perks.

So killers are more likely to go for different survivors and survivors are more altruistic.

You could lower maximum BP category back to 8k, so average BP gain is not that higher...

I never mentioned anything being basekit in that reply. I'm saying it's not fair for only two perks to have the % BP bonus system. Part of the reason they removed those effects in the first place was that it wasn't fair for other perks to not have it whilst those two did (and Prove Thyself).

Yeah, great. Instead of being instakilled, I can be pulled out of a locker and slugged for 4 minutes. That's so much more engaging and rewarding.

This is where the fun begins

  • I wish more people knew about the locker tech... Nevertheless, the add-on needs to be worked on because solo queue is already enough of a nuisance as is.

  • VPN killers probably.

We're Gonna Live Forever is also not going to affect much.

That's just so it's fair and both sides have this system.

You see way more tunneling then you used to, or I remember it wrong... Issue is most other strategies got worse, while tunneling didn't. I believe BBQ helped a lot against early tunneling, at least for me it definetly did.

Also because of many Adrenalin players, killers simply don't want to get into end game, because it's really hard to recover from it and it's going to get even worse next patch.

Fair doesn't really work when we are choosing two perks, out of so many, to get a BP bonus whilst others don't... It's only going to lead to future agruments about x perk needing it or y perk. With the BP incentives for different roles, the BP gains would be huge and I don't think BHVR would like it even if it's for a good cause like this.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3631906#Comment_3631906

People who want to tunnel from start are not going to use it, you won't fix it.

But many players go for tunneling when they feel pressured, not from start. Getting 4 stacks of BBQ was basically main priority for many players, from what I remember there was way less tunneling during BBQ/pop/ruin. Pop and Ruin forced you to leave hooked survivors to be effective unless gen was right next to it... and BBQ made killers greedy and rather threw game just to get it.

Many killers tunnel at five generators from my experience. Since Chucky was added, it's felt like it's been non-stop. It's why I took a break because the gameplay was so stale. What you explained is definitely correct, but it's not like everyone ran it at the time, mostly Billy players. With how popular anti-aura builds are currently (especially Distortion), I fear a change like that would only promote more anti-aura builds and this would make the perk obsolete and just a extra BP perk.

We're Gonna Live Forever is also not going to affect much.

  • @VomitMommy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3631894#Comment_3631894

I use it on others quite often... It's good when they are dead on hook and you just need to recover fast.

True, I just like to 99% heal myself for Resilience value and to lure the killer into chasing me.

  • @VomitMommy said:

Give BP effect of BBQ and WGLF basekit. That would help and probably make both sides happy.

Such a shame they removed the BP effects. I think that it won't make a noticeable change however since tunneling was still rather prominent at the time those bonuses existed. Killers won't really use BBQ if tunneling is working out so well and feels necessary sometimes. We're Gonna Live Forever isn't too useful for solo queue when survivors can't call out if they're getting slugged or not. Haven't seen the perk in ages, not even amongst SWFs.

I feel like it's too much of a complicated issue, due to how it intertwines with both roles, to just be solved by perk adjustments. I'm not holding my breath for the Decisive Srike rework either, kind of lost hope already.

  • I use medkits to heal myself only. Feels like a waste with how slow it takes to heal up another survivor even with the rarest one.

  • @ChaosWam said:

Problem is you can incentivize spreading hooks as much as possible and you'll still get killers who tunnel someone out just so they can get the 4k, for reasons anywhere between they desperately want the wins or they're trying to adept.

If, somehow, BHVR magically made a mechanic to fully stop tunneling then something would need to be done about certain loops and tiles, as well as really busted perk combinations and SWF coordination and I don't see those happening any time soon.

It'll be inconvenient for them to tunnel if the right actions are taken place to prevent it. There would no longer be arguments about needing to tunnel because by tunneling they are losing the proposed benefits of spreading hooks which would help them. People obviously will still tunnel, but it'll help others stray from it and finally reward spreading hooks.

I'm all for removing tunneling and compensating with stuff you've proposed, but I think taking baby steps is the way to go.

  • @glitchboi said:

5 seconds and allow it to work in the endgame.

I don't understand the concept of pity kills and why they are so necessary, 4 escapes and 4 kills will inevitably happen between games. A perk shouldn't be an unused slot simply because the survivors did their objective.

Problem with endgame DS was that people with it activated would body-block killers from getting another person and, since the gate would be open, it would be a free escape (you'd crawl to the gate or stun the killer). Really wasn't fun to go against, could compare it to FtP + Buckle Up in its current state.

corrupt doesnt do anything when everyone spawns apart infront of a gen

It blocks the generators you are far away from and survivors tend to spawn far away from the killer because, you know, it makes sense. Therefore, they cannot access the generator .

  • We need faster sensitivity as well!

  • Running Corrupt Intervention might be a good idea.

  • It's like the medkit situation, I only use them to heal myself because the percentages for healing teammates with it are so bad. Purple medkit in a chest? Awesome, time to use it on myself and experience the exact same effect that I would have had with a common medkit.

  • Just make her have some sort of skill expression at this point...

  • The Evil Within 2 is really underrated. One of my favourite games for sure.

  • @Huge_Bush said:

An inconvenient option would be to master Pyramid head so you can just cage survivors. Another would be to master Nurse or Blight and use a slug heavy build and keep slugging until they all bleed out- just please do do this to all survivors, just the ones who are intent at bullying you. Not all survivors play like this.

As for playing Trapper, he’s not worth playing with how fast paced the game is these days. You’re really better off playing a stronger killer. It’s not impossible to do well with him, it’s just not worth all the sweat, especially since his traps are easy to see on a lot of maps.

Most definitely. I used to get iri one with him countless times but it really wasn't worth the effort trying to make something out of him. It was frustrating to say the least and one mistake just turned the entire tide of the game for survivors. It felt rewarding for sure but in the end it cost a great deal of stress and facing a bunch of Eyrie of Crows offerings...
