  • Wait, when you prestige a character you get a special cosmetic but lose all of their perks? I'm assuming that this means you also start back over at level one and can buy them back when they show up in the bloodweb from having previously unlocked them, right?

  • I play on the PC but use a Microsoft 360 controller instead of a mouse and keyboard. That probably makes me the most detestable player of this game.

  • The Twins are (is?) one of the most unique killer designs in this game, I love the concept and the look of the character. I'd like to face her more often, I've literally gotten her about three times in 500 hours of gameplay.

It's fine you can tell if spirit is phasing by the color of her glass shards.

    git gud

The irony of calling for SWF to be nerfed and then telling someone who goes against your argument to "git gud"...

  • Pfft. Hell with that chart up there that has Trickster as the funnest opponent. I am sick to death (no pun intended) of facing that idiot. I get him five times more that any other killer, bare minimum. I'm over him. Well over him.

I love facing the Spirit and Nurse in the sense that they creep me out, they're "holy #########, this one's gonna be dangerous" tier. I like that. I like the tension and uncertainty. Oni too, to an extent. Hearing him rage somewhere in the distance like a screaming bigfoot or something is startling and puts me on edge.

Beyond that I'd say Huntress, Amanda, maybe Doctor. In my anecdotal experience those are the killers who have been able to keep me on my toes without feeling overly cheap. It definitely depends on the skill of the person controlling the killer.

  • @Madman_Abraham23 said:

A few days ago I got into a discussion about how the weaknesses and limitations of killers (not in gameplay but as a character) don't matter. This really stood out to me as the big issue with people who don't understand why killers like Pennywise or Nemesis can't be added to the game. Some people are so adamant to have Mr X added to the game that they forget to picture him being stunned by a 6 inch thick pallet of wood. Some people in the community don't understand the reason why killers like Freddy and Demogorgon work in the game and characters like Pinhead and Nemesis don't. I really would like to clear this up if anyone is confused about this.

Hey man, Ash Williams was once defeated by a shelf.

  • I'm a solo survivor main and I myself never asked for a buff, but it IS a fact that half of my perks on any given character are aura perks so I can at least see where the other survivors are. If someone asked me objectively what would be a fair buff I'd say maybe a free version of Dwight's Bond, even if at its lowest level. I don't think that this would be unreasonable or game-breaking.

That said, again, I'm not one of the people asking for buffs in the first place. I just know that it's fairly difficult to play completely by yourself in the survivor role, having to rely on other people you don't know, can't find, etc. But that's fine. That's what I assumed the game would be going in.

  • @Lord_Tony said:

Nerf SWF then if you want spirit and nurse nerfed.

    it's only fair

I'm a solo survivor, I don't care if either of those characters stay as they are.

  • As a "casual" player I'm glad to see so much support here. I'm not "casual" in the sense that I'm new to video games (gaming has been my main hobby for 40 years), but I AM casual in the sense that I don't play games for hardcore aggressive competition, racing to be number one, winning at all costs, screwing everybody else and then taunting those who lose. That's so junior high to me. The world is already irritating enough without that kind of punkass behavior infecting the things that I choose to engage in for relaxation and fun.

I haven't played this game for five years like so many others have. I've only been at it for a month. I solo survivor main and I have a lot of fun most of the time. I don't care if I win or lose. I don't care about occasional cheapness. I just want to enjoy myself. I want a balanced game of cat and mouse. I want there to be some challenge and skill on both sides, but the idea of this game as a tournament or esport sickens me. There's already enough of that crap out there. This game is unique and everyone should be able to enjoy it whether they've spent 50 hours, 500, or 5,000 hours on it.

So many people complain about balance, so many people complain about "the other side", so many people complain about the lazy devs, so many people complain about perks and buffs and nerfs and people who use certain skills or characters, etc etc etc. I just don't get it. Can't everyone just have fun? Losing this game isn't the world. Getting a map you don't like isn't the end of the world. Hell, I HATE the looping game so I just try to avoid it as much as I can. If I get better later and wind up enjoying it, great. Until then I'm just going to play how I want to play, as should everyone, as long as it doesn't violate the rules.

But casual players making the game worse? That's a profoundly elitist sentiment. That suggests that to play this game means to be part of some privileged club who's earned it by, I guess, having played it long and hard enough to be an expert at it. New people will be joining this game all the time and, if they're like me, they'll try their best to learn and improve and not complain about how horribly imbalanced the game is to them. Some games I win. Some games I lose. I lose a lot more than I win. But if the match goes for at least five or ten minutes and I get enough things to earn some points and improve, I'm happy. That's all I want. I don't need to be the best. I don't need to be the DBD champion.

I just want to relax and have fun. Maybe I'm getting senile in my old age but that's what video games used to be for.

  • @Seraphor said:

Yes, it's the 90% of casual players who are playing a game they paid for to have fun that are ruining the game. Not the 5% of sweaty competitive tryhards.

    Thank you.

  • @GoodBoyKaru said:

    Saloon. Definitely Saloon.

Saloon is literally the only map in the entire game that I just don't really care for. I'm not even sure why to be honest, there's just something about it I find tiresome.

I love all the indoor maps and Haddonfield even though so many other people hate them, I rarely ever get them so I'm happy for the chance when they pop up. I also like that they're something different. There needs to be a good selection of mazelike indoor maps to balance all the wide open outdoor ones. Though I'm still not sick of Coldwind and Autohaven even though I get those like 85 percent of the time.

I expected to see Yamaoka by now, my understanding is that everyone hates those maps.

See, that's the thing when you're new, is that stealth seems like fun. It seems like the most enjoyable part of DBD, the hiding and the finding, but after like 1k hours it's pretty boring. 2k hours it's just frustrating when you can't find someone, and so even if it is fun to do still, it's awful and frustrating to face imho.

Well, to an extent I can already see what you mean. I've played as killer a few dozen times and I don't like it nearly as much, partly because I'm less interested in the aggressive hunt and kill type of game and partly because I suck at it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but my matches as a killer rarely go more than five or six minutes, I can never find anybody! I rush from gen to gen which is what I'm assuming is what killers normally do but somehow the survivors are always off hidden somewhere, popping off gens that I just checked. You're right, that isn't fun.

As a survivor though, much like in other games such as Monstrum, I love having to creep and sneak and try not to be caught and killed. I enjoy the tension of seeing the killer pass by not far away and getting a startle, wondering if he saw me or not. I like working on a genny and having to suddenly take off when I can tell the killer is coming. That kind of stuff. Not necessarily that I like to hide, but that I like the back and forth as opposed to just "run out there as a group and start looping while the others gen rush".

I don't know, I think I just like a longer, more strategic, more deliberately-paced game that feels like an actual horror movie, not so much a more open and intense race to beat the other side. To each their own I suppose. And you might be right, in another few hundred hours I might be tired of playing this way. I guess time will tell.

Honestly I'm part of the killer mains that enjoy looping for the most part, because I'm well aware of the alternate way survivors would, well, survive. Stealth and holding w. The two most boring to face forms of gameplay combined into one

See I love the stealth, the cat and mouse game is what I like the most (that plus working together, altruism, etc). When I first heard of this game years ago I envisioned the concept of sneaking through the grass, trying to evade the killer and find your way to the escape, etc. It was honestly significantly disappointing when I was told "oh no man, no, you have to learn looping. The game's all about getting the killer to run in circles with you" (in so many words). I was looking for a horror simulator, not a game of tag.

Just my opinion, anyway. I'm legitimately glad that you like it, I feel for the killers who hate looping because I know how tiresome it is too. I don't even know if the survivors straight-up enjoy it or if they just do it as a means to an end because they know that it's a good way to tie up the killer. I also wonder if looping has always been a thing or if it became more prevalent at a certain point after the game's release. I don't know, I just know that I find it incredibly tedious. It's like wanting to play a fighting game and finding out that the dominant strategy is jumping over each other.

On a lot of maps they are, however Haddonfield has a couple of incredibly safe windows practically guaranteed to spawn (same with Badham Preschool though that one is a lot more RNG based). The Game is similar- there's lots of pallets that spawn in practically guaranteed places

I see. That would be frustrating, yes. Actually now that you mention it I do remember a pallet almost always spawning next to a car near one of the sidewalks. And one or two of the houses do have some second-floor windows that are really great for survivors observing their surroundings.

It's a bummer that some of these maps are crappy for killer mains, I actually really enjoy Haddonfield and all of the indoor maps but I sometimes suspect that they get the short end of the stick (and the low end of the randomization) because it seems that most killer players dislike them. I think I'm in the minority here but again, I honestly wish that the loop game wasn't even a part of DBD. The killers hate it, I hate it. So many other survivors love it though. I don't know, I just don't see the joy of running back and forth in a stalemate. I get how it can affect the outcome, I just don't find it fun.

Thanks and oh- I'm sorry to hear that.

I actually main killer because I like relying on myself and only myself. I'm pretty introverted so I prefer doing things alone. Also, I tend to screw up a lot in solo queue, and I get anxious because of that. Tbh I can honestly sympathize with you there though.

And yeah, you can play against each other in customs like 1v1ing! Also, I'm almost always down to SWF, haven't done that in years. What rank are you though? I don't care if you're good or bad at the game, but there may be situations where if I'm a higher rank (red or purple ranks) and you're a lower rank (like yellow or brown ranks) then we might get red rank killers which might be difficult for you.

Thanks. I think it's fair to say that people with anxiety issues can understand each other.

Well, I AM new, but not brand-spanking new. I've only had the game a month but I'm not completely helpless or anything, I've played probably around 400 matches and have raised my handful of favorite survivors to around 40. The ranks cool off and go back down (larger numbers) when you don't play for a bit right? The best rank I recall getting to before a vacation last week was about 12, whereas now I'm probably back to 20. A few hours of playing though and I'd likely be back down to the teens.

What is a 1v1 like? Is it the same set of objectives that occur when a full crowd boils down to 1v1, or are the requirements different by default? Also how does one actually intentionally play an SWF game, do we just befriend each other and call each other to our games? If so I don't know how it works if one friend is a survivor and the other is a killer.

Lol here I am saying that I'm not BRAND new yet I'm asking questions that probably make it look like this is my first day. I'm not a GREAT player, but I'm certainly not a terrible one. I do alright I think. Lots more to go but I can handle myself, I guess. Just not as a killer, apparently. I feel bad for the people I got a 4K against last week. I have no clue how that even happened, lol.

  • Hmm, a rank 1 survivor who magically escapes just when it seems that he's about to lose. Nothing suspicious about that.

  • The book's good for what it is, and I probably would have liked it more if I'd read it first, but parts of it really seemed to drag to me. That river ride with Grant and the kids felt like it lasted forever, and when the end of the book came it seemed kind of abrupt compared to, say, the beginning chapters dealing with the little girl and the campys.

One unintentionally hilarious thing came out of it though: Because (for reasons I do not know) Spielberg switched the ages of Lex and Tim, I went from a movie in which the girl was a 12 year-old computer hacker to a book in which the same girl was a small child who kept whining "I'M HUUUNNNNNGRY!!!" I've seen the movie so many times that whenever I read little Lex's lines I couldn't get teenage actress out of my head, which made the book version of the character seem mentally disabled.

  • It's my perennial summer movie. Caught it in the theater on a stormy summer afternoon in 1993, packed theater, while living in a hotel because our house had caught on fire. The year of my first kiss, the year I discovered Mortal Kombat, the year of Jurassic Park and every childhood toy of the 80s melting into worthless puddles of plastic. One of the most memorable years of my life, and Jurassic Park is smack in the middle of it.

Just read the book on the film's 25th anniversary. I was quite surprised that I didn't like it nearly as much.

Not to mention a lot of toxic SWF teams legit gain the system by purposefully getting a low rank teammate so they can get low rank killers. I already think SWF is cheating but when they do this it’s a whole another level of cheating. If 3 are red rank and the last teammate is green or higher it matches based on the lowest rank survivor. Here is an example. Just happened to me too. Typical clicky clicky flashlight and hook swarming the minute someone in their team goes down.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/29TZ0FVX7XFJ/77cb234f-2f43-49b6-80f6-6bf562a9cbf8.jpeg

Yeah this is completely ######### ridiculous. I mentioned a few days ago that I was up against red ranks while at rank 16 and people were astounded. Now I'm seeing a rank 17 with a straight-up rank ONE. A 16 point differential on a 20 point scale. That is just patently absurd. There is NO reason why the matchmaking system should work this way, be able to be exploited in this way. And screw the clickers who spam their flashlights, they remind me of those kids who would use laser pointers to shine into people's windows at night when they first became commonly available. I've said it before and I'll say it over and over until I die: I will never understand the mentality of cheating, hacking, spamming, deliberate obnoxiousness, etc., to win a game. Why even play? Why is winning a game so important when one isn't even interested in the game as it's intended to be played?

-Love the Jurassic Park poster though. One of my favorite movies of all time.

Mhm, I agree. I also have social anxiety myself, which is why I play solo queue in DBD and main killer. It's hard to make good friends these days :/

First, sorry to hear about your social anxiety. I understand. I have GAD and it's a #########.

I actually find it very interesting that you prefer to play as a killer. For me, playing as a killer actually makes my anxiety worse because (A) they're harder to learn, thus I'm more prone to making stupid mistakes and generally not being good, and (B) as the one enemy, ALL eyes are on me. If everyone escapes, it's my fault. I'm singled out as an idiot. At least when I play as a survivor I can blend in, lol.

I don't know how this game works in terms of two people on opposing sides meeting up for a match (or if there even is such a possibility in this game) but if there IS such a way, or you'd just plain like to play with another player who just wants to have a fun time and isn't going to aggro and trash talk and all that juvenile crap, definitely feel free to look me up.

Why should they be an exception?

The more varied the killers the more fun.

I don’t get this forum’s fascination by only slasher movie type killers and wanting to have everything fit the same box. This is why I was so surprised when Trickster got hated on for being more flashy.

Not everything needs to be human, dark, gritty, deformed.

To each their own but I agree with you. I like the variety. I may think that the idea of a Kpop serial is stupid, but it's something different. The Twins are different from Leatherface. Leatherface is different from The Spirit. The Spirit is different from The Doctor. This game's got a lot of flavors which, ostensibly, means more for everybody. More appeal to more players. We've got mutants, interdimensional beings, Japanese spirits, classic American slashers, original lunatics, etc. I love that. I would never want this game to only have one type of killer. At that point there's nothing really creative or different about them, just alternate skins of the same basic concept.

I'd love to see a vampire (a cool one like Nosferatu, not the Twilight crap). An alien grey. A Unabomber type who lives off the grid. A government assassin. A Dahmer / Gein cannibal type. A horrific Lovecraftian monstrosity. A cult leader. The Flatwoods Monster. The Tall Man. A giant bug. Hell, I grew up with a goofy Japanese rubber monster show called Spectreman and they had some of the most creative monsters I've ever seen. A creature with hooks for hands and traffic lights for a face. A man in a suit with a disgustingly massive head and sharp teeth. A humanoid creature made of mud. A bizarre ritual dancing monster with an obscenely long neck, two bulging eyes for a head, and drills on its elbows.

I could go on and on. There's the potential for so much wild ######### in this game in addition to the standard slasher types. The killer variety is one of the most appealing things in this game to me. Just dial back the teleportation-style powers, there are enough of those.

I feel the same. This game constantly feels like I’m in a tournament esports kinda thing as Killer. Granted this only happens at night. Daytime matches and such are much more chill so I don’t have to play in a panic the whole time. But it just sucks that for me the game is unplayable as Killer at night.

Yes, I agree. I've seen some posts here and there saying that the user hopes for the day when this game is tournament / esport ready and I think "why"? It's not competitive enough? It's not already filled with enough jackassery? It doesn't already consist of thousands of people insulting each other? Is it a rule that all online games have to be aggressive races in which winning is the only thing that matters and it must come at all costs, including cheats and hacks?

I mean to each their own, the way I like to play doesn't have to be the way that everyone else plays. It's just a strange universe to me. I've mentioned before that I've been playing games for 40 years, which is true (my sister and I got an Atari for Christmas in 1982). While there have always been competitive games and sometimes things could get tense between myself and my friends, at the end of the day the point of playing was to have fun, enjoy ourselves. That's been the case for pretty much all my life, even when I began gaming on the PC. I never got behind the "master race" crap because I spent my life on the other side, but beyond that - and constantly having to explain that yes, I choose to play with a controller even on the PC - PC gaming doesn't seem much different. It's where I do all my gaming now, aside from the Switch Lite (and this game is surprisingly competent on that device).

Playing online though? It's a whole different world. Everyone's angry. Everyone is complaining about something. Most of the players seem young and aggressive. People spend their entire days and weeks mastering something then feel the need to mock other players whose responsibilities don't allow them the same amount of free time in their lives. Just anger, anger, anger. Racing. Aggression. Tension. The frothing NEED to win. It's like "does playing games just to be happy and have a fun time really make me THAT old-fashioned"?

Anyway off of my soapbox. I type too much. I'll keep in mind that daytime play is a lot more relaxed. By the way, the more I look at your name the more I believe that we have, in fact, happened to match up online. Do you main as a specific killer? I'd like to go back through my recordings and see if I can spot you.

  • I don't know if it's instant but I too have been in situations where it seemed like the second I realized that someone had turned on their flashlight, I was blinded. I looked away, didn't matter. "Oh, they've got a f-" blind.

I feel like you're a nice fella who deserves good friends to play with. I really hope you meet some nice people to play with.

It's very nice of you to say that, thank you. I have anxiety issues and pretty much only every played one other online game (GTA V) when I was with friends. I play games to relax and have fun, I'm not interested in cheapness and aggressive competition and winning at all costs and trash talking, etc etc etc. So finding people online who have the same mindset is kind of difficult. I was actually just commenting in the "giving thumbs up" thread that I've been doing it in the vain hope that somehow it makes a difference and wishing that players had a consistently reliable way of really showing respect and appreciation for one another.

  • LOL thanks, I did meet a few. Most of the people who befriended me have already moved on and forgotten or don't play at the same times. A couple of them were really decent though, one's like me and just wants to have fun and the other is extremely skilled and has been helping to tutor me with various bits of advice and so forth.

  • @FondaDix said:

It drives me crazy as I play console and I see good survivor or killer play and I can't say anything to them.

The same happened to me in reverse. A killer gave me probably the most satisfying match I've ever had a few nights ago. Though we nodded to each other it didn't feel like enough, he brought me to the hatch and I wanted to tell him that I not only respected him for his sportsmanship, I respected him for the lengthy (28 minutes), competitive game he gave me. He was apparently on console because I couldn't find a Steam name or anything else matching him. No way to communicate and it drove me nuts, I think that players who are both skilled but also truly decent people deserve to be praised.

I sent him a friend request after the match as a last resort but who knows if he'll remember my name or understand why I even sent it. I'd like to think so, but the point is that if the props feature worked I'd KNOW so.

  • I like the phrase "humble in success, gracious in defeat" so yes, I've had a habit of giving thumbs up to everyone when I have a particularly good game. There have also been some very sportsmanlike killers and I really wanted them to know that I respected them for it, so I gave props to them too.

It frustrates me to have learned that no one is made aware of when this happens, the gestures seem to do absolutely nothing. If that's by design it's really kind of manipulative, making players think that they're actually communicating something positive to each other when they're just "talking" to a brick wall. I've said before that I'd really like a thumbs-up animation in the game, just a simple way of letting someone know that you respect them and their game. Of course it would quickly be abused sarcastically and soon no one would know how to interpret it anymore, but it would still be nice to have the option.

To be honest it really bugs me that, as someone who enjoys sportsmanlike behavior and mutual respect, these sentiments can't easily be communicated to other players. It makes me wonder how much of the fanbase really isn't as toxic as people say and we just don't know it because they can't express themselves.

I see. I play on the PC but I'm not into social media and so forth so I don't know if there's a way to find a specific type of fellow player on Steam or what. After a few days of playing the game by myself and meeting some real ######### I figured that I'd come here and make a thread seeking other solo, sportsmanlike players who just want to play for fun and aren't the toxic type.

Yes, Haddonfield has quite a few loops that are easily abusive by survivors just like the new The Game map. Especially if they equip the balanced landing perk.

Ah, okay. I wasn't aware of that. Again, I'm new so I'm still learning these things. I thought that loop points / pallets were a matter of random chance.

I think I was like you at first. I played solo the first time mainly because I was nervous to play with other. I was able to get to purple ranks on my own from playing solo. I would say I was pretty decent.

Overtime I met some kind people and enjoyed playing with them. I'm fact I would say I gotten better by being in solo. By playing with my better friends I was able to learn from them and do better. The skills that I learned in swf I can carry to solo anytime and do well. I wouldn't say I had my hand held either. I probably would have learned at the same time if I had stayed solo.

I guess my point is regardless If I'm in solo or swf your skill will be the same and you get better by just playing more not if your solo or swf.

P.s I'm not trying to encourage or discourage you to play in a swf. To each his own but just to say I get what your saying.

That's fine, I get what you're saying as well. I've played along with a couple of "online friends" that I made by asking around here on the forum, but there's no Discord talk or anything like that. Just other people to join up with who will help fill the queue and develop trust with, that kind of thing. Was your SWF experience like that or did you mean the whole teamwork / Discord chat type of thing? I ask because I wonder what most people think of when they say SWF.

  • During the day (US Central time) I get really fast queues as survivor. From sunup to sundown we're talking a minute all the way down to maybe ten seconds. It's that fast sometimes. At night, roughly 10 pm onward, killers queues are the fast ones.

All for better matchmaking. A rank 20 shouldn't be paired with a rank 7.

As a survivor main but a new player I don't notice the number of pallets or know yet how to quickly identify the best ones, etc., so I will readily believe that those with experience, especially with this map, and in particular killers, are valid in their complaints about it. I just really love the map as a map (as opposed to a looping experience) and hate the fact that I hardly ever see it as it is. Coldwind Farm? Autohaven? Oh, you bet! Gideon's warehouse? Pfft. Maybe once every three days.

Haddonfield is considered another bad one? Is it also a looping thing?

  • I'd love to turn off the looping altogether. As a new player it's an aspect of the game I didn't expect and I find it to be the antithesis of fun regardless of which side I'm on.

The ability to do things such as turn off certain features, block certain players from being matched with me, choose the map rotation I get, disable or enable only the killers I want to face, etc. (while being COMPLETELY impossible, I get that) would, in an ideal world, make this game far more fun to me than any new chapter ever could. I love it, but there's a lot that I wish I didn't have to deal with.

  • I can understand adjusting it but please don't disable it, I never even get the damn map and it's probably my favorite (not for the pallets and looping, I honestly don't like the looping ######### at all. I just love the aesthetic and the general layout).

I’m fine with better matchmaking. Though honestly when they did that test awhile back I had an awful experience. Got baby killers and baby survivors, or professional killers mixed with baby survivors. It was a mess.

Are you referring to the new method they tried a couple months back? That was just before I began playing and all that I heard about it was negative. This is a bit off topic but did they say what they actually changed? My understanding is that the ranks are based on time played which is ridiculous because I'm constantly up against people who are far, FAR from new at this game. I'm also frequently matched with players that are 10 or more ranks better than myself.

Also, real quick: I see the term "baby" a lot. "Baby Dwight" and so forth. What does that specifically mean? I'm assuming that it's synonymous with "new" but I'm wondering what the criteria is, how newness is gauged.

  • I enjoy the solo game, even if some of my losses sometimes feel cheap. I like the idea of four random strangers having to work together toward a common goal. I like not being paired with cliques of dickhole friends.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I see no need for solo buffs. The difficulty of playing by myself with no means of actual communication may make things more difficult than SWF, which means that it's going to take longer to learn to excel at the game, but I'm fine with that. I don't want my hand held. A more fair and balanced matchmaking system wouldn't hurt though...

I think I have actually played against you lol. I’ve always been solo q so I’ve learned to adapt to it. A lot of people play this game right at the start SWF so they have a lot of their friends holding their hand and covering for their mistakes. The minute they try solo they get mad cause the other people aren’t always around them swarming. That’s why everyone wants to buff solo so bad. Cause they can’t play otherwise.

If I lost, you probably played against me. XD Seriously though, I'm slowly getting better. I don't completely suck, I've had a fair number of escapes and top scores and so forth. But I know I'm new, and I accept my losses with humility.

You make really good points about the SWF experience. I had this the first day I played, and no more. Basically my buddy bought the game for me and he showed me the basic mechanics of how to play. He's not great, he'd just played before so he helped to show me things like "this is the hatch, here are some good things to try, this is what the rift is," etc. Beyond that we played for a few hours with what I assume were mixtures of two other randoms. I guess we were sort of SWF but not really because neither of us are experts nor do we have any interest in the "rush, gloat, and teabag" #########. We're good sports. We are aware of our positions in the fog.

So yeah, I can only imagine how different this game would be if I had not just that one buddy not just those few hours, but THREE other buddies, every time I play, perfecting our little routines and all that. I have to be honest, while I think I'd like that at first I also think that it would make the game boring pretty quickly. I don't like to get creamed, I don't want extreme uphill challenges, but I don't want cakewalks either. I play more for fun, and I enjoyed the fact that my one buddy would be yelling "OH GOD OH #########" and I'd have to ask him what was happening, only to find out when I'd go to see and the killer would knock ME on my ass next.

Idunno, I play to have fun. I don't care if I win. All I hope for is a game that lasts more than five minutes in which I can get enough done to earn some points, maybe get some experience, learn a few things. I'm happy doing this on my own even if it IS harder and I occasionally get taunted for my relative lack of expertise. And man, given the descriptions that some of you have regarding SWF teams, I can definitely see why killer mains are fed up with them.

  • I guess it's because I have the luxury of being a new player, and anyone who wants to shame me can scold me for not knowing enough about the intricacies of the game to have an opinion on this, but this is hardly a broken game. That term is thrown around WAY too loosely. Broken games hang, freeze, and crash. Broken games suddenly become unresponsive. Broken games fail to start.

This is a game with a MASSIVE amount of specific variables - a complex machine - and two opposing sides that seem to inherently hate the other with developers that appear willing to TRY to keep everyone satisfied despite complaints of favoritism and laziness in perpetuity.

I've been playing video games for 40 years. This is not a broken game. It may feel frustrating and imbalanced sometimes, yes, and it's not perfect. But it's hardly broken.

  • Lol it HAS happened to me like twice, and of course I felt like an idiot.

Speaking of which, is it just a general rule that at least one person ALWAYS has to let the lobby timer count all the way down after everyone else has readied up within like 10 seconds? I mean I get it, queue times are long sometimes, but at certain times of day they're reliably fast so I'm not sure why at least one person in 90 percent of matches chooses the queue as the exact time to start reading the newspaper.

  • "Dickweasels". I'm stealing that.

I play solo, I don't have a choice. Playing as a survivor solo is difficult but I assumed that it was how the game was intended to be played so I enjoy it. The more I learn how many people play SWF the more proud of myself I feel for doing my own thing and winning a match or helping others to do the same. I don't particularly like being paired up with SWF teams for the reasons you provided. Killer vs SWF is also not the most fun for very obvious reasons.

So yeah, if any of you happen to see the name "Miketheratguy" on the field, know that I'm just a scrappy new player trying to do his best on his own without the aid of three other dickweasels.

  • I've played with some of these perks and still had my ass handed to me, which tells me that like most perks it still boils down to experience and skill (I'm new, so I don't have loads of either yet).

  • The Trickster, because I'm sick of seeing him every ######### fifth match.

Beyond that, The Hag. It seems that I only ever face her when she's under the control of expert players who know how to use her VERY well. She's ultra-efficient, running all over the map killing people while leaving her damn portals all over the place at all times. She's pretty much the only killer I feel I don't have a fair chance or any real counterplay against. Trying to do basically anything in a match with a talented Hag user feels like trying to run around an open field loaded with landmines while a sniper is taking shots at me.

Leatherface has been feeling kind of cheap lately...

The problem with this map is that it depends heavily on the killer.

My Deathslinger LOVES this map. Those halls are death traps.

My Clown just wheezes up and down the corridors.

I too have found that the map depends heavily on not just which killer is chosen, but the skill of the killer and the luck of the hook / generator placement. I survived this map against the Nurse, but lost it against the Wraith. I got some kills as Michael, but didn't accomplish anything as the Clown.

The map is pretty complicated. Multiple floors, aura reveals that can throw you off, very similar hallways, false lockers and colors that can help to obscure blood, etc. It's a unique challenge, I like it regardless of which side I'm on.

  • There are loads of nice cosmetics I would like but ten dollars per outfit is astronomically overpriced. I like that they're optional, not forced, and I also like that I can get them through shards (though this is quite impractical as buying perks from the shrine has an actual gameplay effect and the shard requirement per single outfit is also astronomical).

I get that the base game is inexpensive and, if you get them on sale, the DLC packs total roughly the price of a regular game for five years' worth of content. That's fair. I think that the game's actual put-together prices are great. I also understand that encouraging players to pay actual money for in-game cosmetics is a standard practice these days, and a fair way to earn some extra scratch. They're just way too much. I'm not going to sit and count but I'd wager that it would be in the realm of a thousand dollars to get all of the various unlockables in this game.

If that price were reduced by half, I'd be happy to buy a bunch of the outfits. If not, of course I'd be happy to have the chance to earn free cells as well.

  • I play both but I very much prefer survivor, I enjoy the sneaking and cat and mouse style of gameplay more than I like the aggressive chase and attack type of gameplay.

Oh that's annoying when that happens or obsession is activated and as you open to escape they down ya and hook you

That pisses me off so much, its sort of like "yeah nice time wasting there mate" 😑😂

Lol exactly. Just kill me and be done with it so we can both move on to another match, idiot.

  • The killer will be a generic zombie and the survivor will be Ashley Graham, just to mess with us.

  • I saw the combination of the words "Capcom", "milk" and "bad word" and thought of a certain other aspect of the RE discussion.
