I've been saying this for so long now, I could say it in my sleep. You can pick any perk, power, addon or item in this game and someone, somewhere, will find a way to call it toxic. I'm a 'roll with the punches' kind of gal, I play around whats in front of me at the time, and if I don't succeed, well then I was outplayed. I'm pushing 40, I don't feel the need to cry "Unfair", because someone used effective tactics against me. However it's utterly mind numbing to watch a good majority of players do exactly that. If its within the games rules, not an exploit and you're not being a righteous butt hole in end game chat, it's not toxic, it's using the tools given to you. I'm far too casual a player to bother seeking out blame if i lose, and I'm flat out tired of both sides smacking each other about the head like a three stooges episode, with their ridiculous 'rule books' of sportsmanship. Killers kill, survivors survive, and both can and SHOULD use every means at their disposal to do so. All I ever expect from anyone in a game, is to act like an adult and not vent their frustrations at people who often have no real ill intentions, in the after game chat. Learn from mistakes, don't seek to pin the blame button on anything found remotely challenging.
I totally agree!! I usually only get upset when we get hardcore f'd over and like slugged for a long time because it's just not super fun, but my next match is always better. Great mindset, by the way, I'm a soft girl and hate watching people fight ;w;
-
I uh... I kind of enjoy a mori match. It makes me tense up and work harder, but it also makes everything a lot more stressful!
-
i want them to blow me a kiss while i die on the hook because it would be such a beautiful taunt
-
@MadLordJack said:
I agree, to an extent. And that extent is "when you aren't trying to hurt someone." Up til that point, though, it is just a game. Mori's, keys, tunneling, genrushing, whatever. Those are the Devs problems for allowing them to exist, not the players problem for... playing... them? My grasp on the English language just vanished, but I hope my point got across. Playing a game? Great. Playing to hurt someone? Not so great.
I completely agree! I have seen hardcore tunneling and slugging-- Like, body camping and walking over them as they die while everyone else does gens and escapes. I just think that's cruel!
-
@tippy2k2 said:
Good! My play style is to try to play fairly and with sportsmanship (no tunnel, no camping, no actions to mock the killer, etc) . I want to make it so everyone can enjoy the game as much as possible and you're gonna sit there and take it!!! Wha ha haaaaa!
AS YOU WISH GAMER <3
-
I don't hate the doctor, I have just had a lot of spam electric shocks and I already suck at looping so I am usually first down lol! I like it when he dances around while shocking though, that is my favorite form of entertainment on the hook if they are camping or if I'm the last alive it's so funny!!
-
I actually don't mind a terror camper, it's better than face camping, but it isn't fun to go against all the time lol! I think the best part about it is knowing that there is a higher risk to being caught and hooked, and your team needs to cooperate to properly save you.
-
I love being in those red ranks babey!!! I don't discriminate either, I have gotten wrecked by lower ranks because of their interesting tactics and such, but I tend to get anxious if I dip back into purple because the MM gets so wonky and I always end up getting farmed!! Oh well, all I can do is hope for the best lol!
-
I wasn't in this match, but I will always be altruistic if I have to. I know how much I hate getting left on the hook and I make an effort to save when I can. I cleanse every stupid bone pile I see!!! But I'm sorry it got that bad, I don't enjoy going down without a fight. Good luck in your next matches and I hope you have fun :)!
-
during the blighted event, I went up against Bubba and was the last survivor. I ran into the killer shack and Bubba just NYOOOOMS past me and bumps into the wall with a 'bwomp' sound, I couldn't stop laughing and it ended up killing me, I couldn't even run properly it was so flippin' cute lol!

Um, not to be mean, but I think that might be what the OP is complaining about... Which is totally fine, playing safe is very strong for good reason.
My point still stands, I am a complete idiot lmao
-
I'm a meghead which means I'm a bit of a dummy, so I never got the hang of looping. If I get in a chase, I prefer window vaults and throwing those sweet hunks of wood down to close the distance at least!!
-
Listen here gamer, you want a nano pp? A real nano eeny weeny teeny one? Extreme nanos will only bring OoO and a broken key with no add ons to assert dominance. That radiates mega dong energy when it's actually non existent.
-
I don't always enjoy playing against spirit but when she's got those cute outfits on or the white hair... I have to simp
-
i'm an idiot i thought you meant like that girl from shark boy and lava girl that made the ice bridge

I think the unpopular opinion, is that survivors is harder than people give it credit for, but is still easier than killer.
This I totally agree with. I play solo and not all teammates are created equal lol! I hate seeing people diss survivor mains all the time because they're a killer main, it just irks me when my team works hard against slugging and camping and then are told 'ez baby survivor' stuff by the killer to my teammates that brought unbreakable or DS, because they'd probably have the 'small pp build' (iconic name tho i kinda love it) if most matches went that way, too.

Yeah. But it's got it's perks, or at least for me it does. Helps that I remember being relatively normal, if that term even exists. Maybe it's why I like to be kind even if I don't get the twisted gut feeling when I'm not.
I don't mean to intervene here, but I am super emotional and sensitive to everything. Just last night I cried over an oreo commercial because a stuffed animal wanted to eat oreos and I couldn't handle it lol! I developed it through severe anxiety and get embarrassed sometimes, but I have been told by my friends that I have developed a sixth sense for when they need help or are upset. Also, the way you described the twisted gut feeling is kinda cool, I usually get butterflies or blush a lot from joy!

As the saying goes "Treat others the way you want to be treated".
Personally I think people just have to take things less seriously. Words mean nothing on online games.
Yeah, I'm cool with being called a cuss word, but it's when it has to do with my identity that I feel personally ashamed and upset. I like to be lowkey and just have fun, but I won't excuse racism, homophobia, and other slurs of the like.

Thanks dude @Dabihwow , I really appreciate that. @megswifey Of course I'm no angel, I've also said things out of anger and spite just to get a rise but in the past years ,I feel like I've become a better person from this community .One thing I've always questioned and said is how can God or anyone be mad at what someones sexual preferences are which predates Christianity beliefs by a millennium probably futher,also racism is also very intolerable if you're going to hate someone just hate the actions of that person not the color of their skin because know one is superior or inferior maybe in intelligence but thats all superiority can fall upon and strength but a skinny guy can knock out a big guy depends on the characters tho. I certainly will try to be better at not letting my anger get the best of me to hurt someone's feelings or to attack thier character.
Another wonderful person admitting an learning! We are all here to have fun, and again, rage can overtake us at times and as long as we realize our actions and learn from it, the better we will become :)! I totally agree with your reasoning, love is natural, skin color is natural, just embrace the beauty of life <3 You can do it! I have friends who sometimes say things without realizing how hurtful they are, and pointing it out always helps them get the perspective necessary, especially if they do it out of habit.

I'm extremely sorry about this, I was greeted this way before when I joined the community. So hopefully you do get better. I agree with you 100%, this ######### has to stop. However I hate to admit it but I'm not entirely innocent, I've said things while playing that I deeply regret, not gonna what though but I am not like that anymore. It is just one of those days where I question my life at times, whether I'm worth it or not. I've grown past that but some days it does comeback, thankfully not as bad as before. I hope you get better and I hope that remember there are amazing people in this community like @TheClownIsKing @GoodBoyKaru, @naughtyboyjames and @SCP_FOR_DBD. Everyone else are good people, just don't let the bad represent them.
I'm glad you are owning up to it and not denying it. We have all fallen into rage, and I have said things I don't like saying (Not with identity, just like calling a friend a [cuss] nugget or... "female dog" lmao) but we can only move on and learn from it! And yes, they are all such wonderful people!! One person who has kept me coming back is @Slashstreetboy and literally everyone else in this thread (Shout out to auntie jyn and coney for adopting me :)!!) And everyone you listed is f'ing phenomenal, truly lovely people-- You yourself included, don't fight me on that! So, have a great day and stay safe <3!

Sorry man, its unfortunate how much people can ruin a good thing. Sometimes people just suck, but if it makes you feel better. There are some really, really good people here. Stick it out, and you will meet some of these people, I promise you. Hang in there man, regardless of whether your still part of this community.
I have met so many amazing people on the forums and in game, I just wanted to address this issue and let it be known that I won't stand for it. No matter where it happens, racism, homophobia, and any disregard for empathy is just icky to me. I sound like a baby, but it really does just leave a pit in my stomach when I see people's identities are being used as ammo, especially over a video game. Thank you for being so kind, I hope you have a great day <3!

You are too good for this ######### community. And I mean this. I can't even stress how isolated I feel from the community because of the really bad racism, which hurts cause I do enjoy playing with people and interacting with the other members. You have posts of people leaving because they feel the community is too toxic and yet people mock them, that's a kind of irony only DBD fanbase could deliver.
Thank you, hon <3 I'm sorry it started that way for you, I play on xbox in baby mode (messaging off) from bad experiences and I will never forget when I was in a match with Piggy, I died last and they played super well, saw they were a ttv and went to check them out and my teammate said they should... off themselves and then called them a homophobic slur. I was disgusted by it, and I reached out to them and said that if I had had access to the chat I would have reported them and said something, but that's neither here nor there. The people who are leaving are usually wonderful players that have been harassed and such, and I can't blame them for abandoning such a horrid thing. I have met so many wonderful players and streamers through this game, and many forum members are absolutely lovely people--everyone on this thread, really :)-- And that's what keeps me from leaving. I am also horribly addicted to this game, lol! I hope you have a better time in the community, and have a wonderful day <3!!
-
I certainly didn't mean to offend using that term, since me and my colleagues have been taught to say it that way in college courses and also by black and latino peers. My black family members also use the term, but maybe it's different? I don't know, haha! I'll keep that in mind and revise the post, thank you :) And sure, I can take it with a grain of salt, but I'd rather put it out there and get it off my chest.

I always look on the positive side of things as I stated in the post, but I will never brush off homophobic, racist, and misogynistic things. I mean, you do you boo, but I'm not gonna excuse racism and just bad mindsets in general
Wait that sounded super sassy lol ;w; I mean that I always expect the best in people and when I see them stoop so low it makes me so angry. I just worry about people excusing it so often, and I know there are wonderful people who understand how to at least be accepting rather than voicing their (usually awful and offensive) opinions.

It's not just in games its life kid welcome to it. You just gotta move on when you encounter toxicity and form groups with people you enjoy simple as that. If you get hung up on negativity you'll forget that most people mean well.

Anonymity means not being held accountable. And based on evidence surrounding us, people don't hold themselves accountable either. Which is wierd for me especially, since I have no conscience, guilt or empathy and yet I still try to be as civil and caring as I can. I don't always get it right, but I'm always trying. And if a psychopath can do that, why can't everyone else?
And if people are being bigoted toward you, I am so sorry. It's the reason I stopped playing shooters - sucking at them while calling out bigotry? Yeah, there's a reason I mostly play single player RPG titles. But if anyone's been making you feel unwelcome, then please know that some of us genuinely don't care about gender, culture, sexuality, or even how feminine/masculine you are.
What an interesting perspective! I'm glad you try your best, since it makes a major difference. Not everyone will appreciate it or understand it, but kindness is so important-- Even online. I'm always glad to see that I can escape from real life every once in awhile and not have people comment on my identity, it's calming at times :)

I wouldn't mind having him here, but his game isn't the best. As long as he's not as powerful as he was in his game, I'm down. He could teleport, see all the counselors, AND throw knives at us. Also one grab and he'd do a cinematic death, especially if you were jamming out to Mitch Murder and Kristine in the cabin lol ;w;

I've been mistaken for a dude plenty on here which is fine, I'm very masculine. I still get some comments from people I was friends with in high school, in fact I had an argument last week with one of the guys I was friends with for liking story based games. It's so stupid, like sorry for liking other games that aren't just shooters!
Can I join the gamer girl support group? I had a guy get surprised that I knew who Mitch Murder was and also been told 'jokes' about cooking and cleaning in chats with all guys. I suck at FPS and always laugh at myself when playing, but then get some guys who are salty before seeing my bunny pfp and being like 'omg queen im not like that i swear' and i need a hug from auntie jyn and conehead ;w;

I´m sorry to read that you got upset over the community. Seeing how impressively positive you usually came across, I dreaded the toxicity might get to you eventually from the very beginning. It happens to many people that start off with a nice attitude. Contrary to people that just don´t care, they are more susceptible to negative influences. I hope you feel better about all this soon.
Oh gosh, I adore you and all of the kind people in this community! I've seen toxicity like this in games from every FPS to roblox of all places. It's just unfortunate, but you, buttercake, grimmreaper, madlordjack, and many others have always kept me going. I just feel so anxious, especially when it gets personal (my username on xbox is extremely girly, and I always worry I'll get odd messages over it or plain misogyny) But anyways, thank you for being so kind to people on the forums and for this wonderful message <3
-
@GrimmReaper said:
The problem is once the cycle of toxicity begins, it becomes borderline impossible to stop. Most of the time people are toxic because they themselves have been treated that way. It's like a plague that spreads.
It's impossible to help everyone not go down that path. The best thing you can do is stop yourself from going down that road and pray that just like toxicity, your positivity will spread. For some, it's easier just to give in than follow the hard path. For those people we don't react with toxicity. We move on and try to understand that there's a reason they are acting that way. Not excuse them for their behaviour, but just understand there's most likely a reason they're acting like an ass hat. And remember one thing, we've all most likely fallen down that rabbit hole before.
That's what I think as well. I've had many friends who used such vocabulary and didn't understand how hurtful it is. I don't hate anyone either, it's just very distressing to read such upsetting topics and see negative things like that. Wonderful analogy with the plague, it spreads and seems contagious at times. Thank you for being kind and civil, I really appreciate it <3

I would connect with the people at BHVR about it if you've looked into troubleshooting your computer. PS4 Had major issues and maybe you aren't the only one struggling on pc after the update. Good luck :)!
-
I try not to argue because it make sme anxious and I don't want to be called entitled for saying that I hate getting camped and tunneled, so I stay out of it. Also, about the romance stuff, as long as it stays in your head I don't care-- Hybristophilia is very real, and I'd rather people stay in their fantasy with fictional characters than actual criminals. Also, Huntress is big mommy gf I will never not love her.
-
8/10 survivor, but I always end up running into the killer and get chased a lot lol! And killer I'd say 2/10, I can't sacrifice them, I just put them into second phase before letting them win ;w;

It mean that another person can come, trade you immediately, then i hook the rescuer, then you come back with borrowed time and ds and I down you, your teammate escapes, you are now on the ground with ds unbreakable and soul guard and then I'm completely #########, while the other 2 survivors are doing 2 separate gens at the speed of light across the map. and you are invincible combinating multiple perks. that's the poor part
I don't even have ds, I've only played it in custom matches with my friends ;w;

But the extreme duration of 60 seconds goes completely out of that purpose and allows survivors to do extremely aggressive plays without being punished
Ah, sorry, but what are aggressive plays? I mean when I'm rescued and the killer immediately tunnels me even when my teammate body blocks me if they don't have bt. If people go out of their way to use it then I'd be annoyed, but most of the time we go and heal each other. The minute is to keep you safe while you heal probably, especially if they chase you and down you. You don't need to use the perk, but if you get chased immediately after an unhook then it's fair to me.
-
Of course it's fine-- If tunneling and camping is ok, then so is using a perk that allows me to get away and actually do stuff lol
-
I always kick gens, and with ghostface I wait a minute to listen for repairs before attacking, or with Plague I kick it and then I go BLEGHHHHHH all over it and then they get sick!! I also like regressing gens because if you do it again when monitoring a gen that has been getting tunneled, it goes down quite a bit.

Many people do gens while in deep wound and wait until last second to mend. That's where Frank's is really useful because i can one hit them with my power. And that's when they DC
That's a terrible idea on their part, go mend immediately!! Oh gosh I always go near a gen, mend, and then repair/cleanse/etc. Unless I'm playing wrong? I don't know, but no offense about legion I just love the sneaky boys more lol!
-
I'm not sure, but to be honest whenever I go up against legion I wanna DC. I never do, I just hate that no matter what I do, they'll find me and make me... make me mend... Oh, the thought alone makes me so irritated lol!! But it might be because they don't want to play against legion but I wonder why it's only with the mixtape. Maybe they have trouble mending in time and then go to the dying state? I haven't encountered that add on yet, or at least never noticed it.
-
I once was on a team with a swf and Dwight kept teabagging at the gen we were working on, and the doctor started running around in circles and zapping us lol! I think it's a combination of showing you're down to clown but also being prepared if they want a serious game. I always point at them and, if I have a flashlight, I use it on a hex totem because I just think it's funny. Now that I think about it, if you play well but then do something stupid, they usually understand, if that makes sense?
-
I have met a lot of nice killers who let me leave, but it's usually after I establish I have either accepted my death or point at the gates as a meme. One time, Pyramid Head became my friend because I pointed at him from a high up place and then walked through his blood trail thingy and he nodded his head yes with me in it. I went to the exit gates and tried to tell him I didn't want to leave, but he started hitting the barrier. I love you, Mr. Nice Pyramid Head, you made my night <3! But I understand the anxiety, I had a ttv killer make me open the gates before murdering me and I was upset because I'm sure the viewers were making fun of me, but what can you do lol!
-
Buttercake, I know it's uncomfortable and I hate that it was in the movies, so good luck when you spawn on that map. It's upsetting to think about, even worse than going on a meat hook or having a goopy monster lad inject me with serum and kill me. I think the reason it's so scary is because it's the realest part about Freddy. Dream demons and all that are scary, but we know that's just for the sake of horror. P*dophilia is real, and it's terrible. This is an 18+ game, that's fine, but people are allowed to be uncomfortable. So, with that, good luck in your next matches and I hope they're more fun than this one honey bunch <3
-
It's really up to the killer at that point. I don't get upset with them if they sacrifice me and get the 4k, and I love it when we can play around and I escape or get some extra points. I will admit I sometimes sacrifice myself if they were nice to me at the end, but I can't always risk that depip especially if it's only two gens and no teammates :( But I always appreciate a good play, so as long as we all had fun, then I'm happy <3!

We should go with something that seems welcoming, not toxic, and inclusive.
The obvious choice is a play on the Rank 1 vs Rank 20. Someone makes something on this
Donut give up!! Dough place to hide! Cruller up and die? or is that one too aggressive? Or a donut called Post Game Chat: Salty Surprise with sea salt and crutch perks
-
My tactic is get everyone on a hook to second phase before befriending them! I always do my best to get them hooked but I freak out when the survivors don't save them because I don't want that player to have a bad time. But there have been some amazing matches where killers come in after hooking us and just kinda hang out while the last gen is done. It's great! So, try following that method and if they call you a bb killer just move on :)!
-
Oh gosh, I'm sorry that happened!! I'm a survivor main but I enjoy playing as killer to learn new ways to get chased and such, but I have also met a lot of survivors who catch me mid animation of //EVERYTHING// I'm talking window vaulting, pallet stunning and breaking, and, worst of all, grabbing a survivor when not near a wall :000!! One thing I have found that makes it more fun is to just... play along! Only if you want to, since they were being cocky if they kept blinding you for no reason and provoked you, but at least you can admit to your mistake. I can't even death hook without feeling awful (nothing wrong with it, I'm just baby ;w;) But I had a match like that recently and I started to tbag with them and they actually let me farm with them, it was precious!! And then we were at the gate and they all left their items and individually tbagged with me before leaving. My children <3! Anyways, good luck in your next matches and I hope they're fun! Don't beat yourself up too much, okay? :)
