The thing I'm thinking about with the new tome is that our first one was boosted with a few days worth of XP before it actually opened, which put me at like tier 13 or 17 right off the bat. That's a lot of play time to grind out in the same time I had to grind out 53 or so levels when I'm already just finishing the challenges on time this time around. I really hope they crank down the XP needed per rift fragment and come through on their promise of the rift being possible to complete playing one hour a day. I'll probably hold off on buying the premium pass this time around and see if I hit 70 or not. Like you guys all said, if you hit 70 and have 1000 auric cells, there's no reason not to buy it.
I notice that nobody mentions that they started at tier 10-15 and only grinded out 55-60 tiers. It felt like so long before I got to tier 70/completed all the challenges, and that wasn't truly even all 70. I didn't buy this rift pass due to not having money for it, but if I did buy it I might not buy the next one depending on the rewards. It sucked that the cosmetics were not full sets and the charms were 60% reskins.

I am pretty burnt out. I finished the Rift in Tome 3 and really didn't have much drive to do much in Tome 4. Do we even get a cool 15 second video for beating it? Whatever. I got myself something else to play until the end of January, when I suppose the next Archive will come out.
Same lol, I bought Cities: Skylines the other day and I can't stay away from it. It's my new addiction until next Archive.

Yeah, the rift was poorly handled. It encourages excessive grinding which always wears people out.
I do actually feel worn out. I normally like doing challenges but after doing all the ones from this tome it's burned me out.
-
The only thing that DCing does when someone is trying to finish these challenges is make it take longer, thereby making the matches where they encounter killers with the challenge continue to happen. If they just accepted their defeat or allowed the game to finish properly, they wouldn't encounter so many of them.
-
@bilaueta said:
How many matches did the basement one took?
At least 10, maybe more. It was really hard to do but I finally got it with Ghostface
-
It's very very hard to complete the challenge without playing scummy and tunneling/camping. Very hard.
-
I was about to complete mine but then 2 of the survivors DC'd. DC's should count for the challenge IMO because I had them downed in the basement and they DC'd before i could pick them up.
-
@last0ne said:
These kind of challenges need to be toned down a bit instead of 5 hooks just like 2 all this does is just promotes toxic gameplay that no one enjoys on both sides
Right? I normally try very hard to not tunnel and I certainly don't camp, but when challenges like this happen its almost impossible to avoid using that strategy. Even in that game I tried hard not to camp, but tunneling was very hard to avoid because the survivors kept stepping in obvious traps and traps that they had stepped in before. But they get mad at me for tunneling...
-
I could seriously go without Feng. I hate her face.
Micheal Meyers can gtfo.
-
I got it on my first try... I used Bond and a commodious toolbox against a huntress and it all went fine. I even did 100% of each generator because the killer was distracted by teammates.
-
I think a healthy way to incorporate Kindred into the basekit of survivors is to greatly reduce the range that the killer's aura can be read. It's 16 meters at level 3, but if it were added to the basekit it could be reduced to 10-12 meters or maybe even less. That way the more important information is prioritized (seeing everyone else).
As a solo player, I always use Kindred or at least most of the time, and it's given me so much help that I wouldn't have if I didn't use it. A lot of the time the people I play with are SWF and they always seem to do better than me.

First don't get you hopes up ever, since you will end like this always. Second look at time they posted and take into consideration how much players are here. Almost all the codes are activated. I found the 6 different ones and probably all of them are activated.
They can't know who activated a code and who did not, they simply putted it there and who grabs it is theirs. Simple luck and good net speed game xD.
Once again thank devs for this treat it is awesome to see that you care for community.
can't they see that the codes are activated, so they can remove them from being shown? it just sucks that they are still allowing the codes to show up even though they don't work. I'd rather not see any than see some and then find out that they don't work.
-
This seems poorly executed.. If a code is used it shouldn't be shown again on the website. I just found a Stranger Things chapter code and it's already been activated. The same code shouldn't be shown more than once/to more than one forum user.. Got my hopes up.
Is there a way to get a code that works, since I did find one?
-
I am a Spirit main and I don't do this unless I haven't gotten too far away from the hook before the save happens. If I do go back I go for the unhooker unless I can't find them, and then I'll try to hit the unhookee until either a) i get them, then I slug them, or b) i find someone else during that chase.
If i'm far away I don't go back .
-
This happens to me all the time and it really needs to be fixed. I agree it should act like an overcharge skill check and force you to complete it even if you have let go of the generator. If you miss that then it's your fault.

The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.
Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?
As someone mentioned above, I think the Huntress humming a different tune if she has iridescent heads would be good, so you know that she has it before she hits someone. Every other killer that has an insta-down ability also has a tell for it (GF has the stalk circle and exposed status effect, Plague has that fiery effect when she has corrupt purge, etc). This wouldn't compromise her ability, because I think it's similar to Demogorgon and Oni having their own TR sound; you know it's them before you see them. You should be able to know Huntress has Iri heads before she gets a down with them.
Another idea would be to change the look of the hatchets when the addon is used. Make them shiny or a different colour, or change the shape of the head to the one on the add-on's icon. That way if you see her you can tell by looking if she's using it or not. This could be good as well since you can't customize the hatches appearance right now.
-
For the first month or so of me playing survivor, I would get really really anxious and scared. My heart rate would jump really high and i'd get that kind of scared shakiness in my hands. Mostly because I was still not used to the fast-paced nature of the game. I played Meg and always used adrenaline, so staying alive until the end was a goal of mine every time.
As killer I would panic when a survivor got too close and I would miss a lot because I couldn't focus properly.
-
I started maining Meg when I got the game, mostly because I thought she was prettiest, and I liked her perks. I had been an Adrenaline user for a while because of that.
I didn't even play killer until I got Spirit, and then I became a god with her.. haha
Now I main Jane and Meg for survivor, because Jane is a very cool lady imo. Her perks are interesting as well.
I now main Trapper and Pig as killer, I still play Spirit a lot but I get a lot of toxicity from the survivors when I do that so I stay away from her unless I need to win.

I said you can see them because that addon is what I thought people were talking about and making the comparison to Plague... the only time plague can see you is when she's running the addon... and you won't know if she's running it or not... with Oni you have a clear and obvious indicator if he is or not... everyone here baffles me
they weren't talking about the black incense add-on or oni's add-on that shows the orbs to survivors. they were talking about the orb's existence and how the oni can see the orbs and how that affects survivor's stealth play.
the comparison to the plague was to explain how you can control the orbs spawning but you can't control how a plague uses her infection.. but cleansing against plague is much easier than healing against Oni, and even if you do heal the orbs stay on the map for a long time.
i'm pretty sure this thread is talking about oni being able to see his orbs and how that affects stealth players. survivors cannot see blood orbs without Oni using that add-on.
-
I actually like this idea, but I know a lot of people, obviously, would hate it.
-
I don't agree you should get points for being healed by someone else, but for healing yourself (unbreakable, no mither) you should get some healing points. I also think the recovering points should be a thing.

Reread what I said... if you can see them, then you know not to interact with them... if you don't, then don't stay in the same place for too long if you're injured... it's seriously not rocket science?
I was just responding to the fact that you said you can see the orbs when you can't. I'm not disputing you saying not to stay in one place if you're injured.

This. I got it last night by hook trading against a NOED Wraith. Because it was a Wraith, having BT didn't even help. I just unhooked and bodyblocked, even though I was on death hook.
I saw the chance and took it, throwing away a ritual (escape with Ace) and a pip just to get it out of the way. Thankfully the hook was close to the exit, because the Wraith downed me and still went after the guy.
I am totally fine with hook trading but I just cant seem to get close to the hooked person before either a) someone else saves them or b) they die/I die

A lot of swf players like to ######### on solo players for hiding more than looping. I'm an immersed solo player and I don't hear complaints in the games I play, but that's because I do gens and I can loop some killers for a minute or two when I am found.
When you talk about being immersed/stealthy on the forums people immediately jump to "you're doing nothing" and "making your teammates do the work" ect ect. they think that since you're not being a cocky jerk to the killer you must be a rank 20 blendette sitting in a corner the whole game.

A few months ago I was looking for a new game to play with my only online friend, and i was looking through the games he has. I saw DBD and i'd heard the name before but didn't know what it was about. He has 1000+ hours on it, so I thought why not and bought it.
He played a few games with me, teaching me how to do stuff and i've been "hooked" ever since haha.
So addicted in fact, that I got to 500 hours within 2 months :)

Just wondering what build you were using? My 'steal hook saves' build is usually sprint burst, BT, DS, and Empathy, along with a medkit and purple insta heal. Of course the game needs to reach EGC, but I find that build increases my chances of getting the save.
I was using BT, DS, Dead Hard, and Iron Will. I just switched my normal build around a little (I usually have Kindred instead of BT)

honestly, for me its the other way around...
i cant find the joy in playing survivor.
which kinda sucks, since i have nothing but survivor challenges left in my tome...
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/624/SC8EZRGE8QG3.png
:(
Me too. I also find the survivor challenges to be much harder than the killer ones. I play 50/50 but I can't get the second survivor challenge done (1 unhook during EGC).
I even set my steam name to "need1EGCsave" and I still can't get it. They should've put that one near the end imo.
ALSO playing survivor is awful because 2/3 killers have scummy playstyles or they play like #########. Or they go afk and NOED/Blood Warden kill everyone at the end. I hated playing survivor this week.
-
I do agree that the violent nature of the spurting of the blood orbs makes stealth difficult. I'm a stealth player usually (iron will is always in my build) and Oni does make my playstyle more difficult.. the only counter is healing, which I can't do as much since I don't run self care or items (usually)
The orbs shouldn't last as long as they do as well.
-
@HurricanePixel said:
I don't get it... you can see the blood orbs... just avoid them if you're trying to be stealthy and don't stand still if you're injured - it's not rocket science
You can't see them actually. You can see them sometimes for a split second as they come out of you, but you can't see them laying around. I think Oni has an add-on that makes them visible to survivors but it also has a downside or something like that.
-
I must be the only player who thinks meg is pretty. I like her regular braids. I agree the clothes available aren't great, she deserves more pretty/casual outfits that aren't grimy or gross-looking.
Her hairstyles are pretty meh and I think she deserves more braid styles.

for PC, binding the struggle option to the mouse wheel really saves my wrists, and it's quieter.
on console, I don't know what it could be changed to, but as someone mentioned above, bind it to a button on the left side of the controller. best of luck to you.
-
I don't play male characters because they're bulky/have bigger hitboxes. But if I did, Adam would be my main. I wish he had more cosmetics even though I don't even have him.

then you're just robbing yourself of a good experience. have you ever started out with a new killer and instantly been amazing? no. so give Oni a chance. if you play on console, that's probably the issue.

I could ask you the same question about Windows of Oppourtunity. If you want the perk, pay for it. That's just how it is.
-
I was a Spirit main for a long while, so here are my tips.
- have a good pair of headphones, preferably surround sound. as someone mentioned above, stridor helps if you dont have any.
- always be listening, even if you're not phasing, She's pretty quiet compared to some killers when it comes to her footsteps, so stuff is easy to hear. I hear breathing all the time and its often a survivor crouching nearby trying to hide.
- standing still will confuse survivors into thinking you're phasing. So if you want to try that, stand still at a pallet or window and watch if they are going to come back and vault towards you. It does take patience sometimes and standing for a while might be what you need to do.
- trying to mindgame the phase will not work if the survivors are smart, but you can start phasing and stand still, and hopefully they will come towards you. If they dont they will just run away and you can go after them.
- PREDICT where people are going to run. If they go into a house, try and think of where they might come out. I usually like to go around the building in the opposite direction as them so they run face-first into me.
- Break safe pallets, they are awful since you cant do anything about them while phasing. You can leave unsafe ones since getting the hit at most is easy.
My suggested add-ons:
- Bloody Hair Brooch + Katsumori Talisman (very fast activation charge and long duration, will help you to catch up to survivors easy
- Dirty Uwabaki + Katsumori Talisman (speeeeeed for longer)
- White Hair Ribbon + Kaiun Talisman (My normal add-on choice, improves activation charge and duration)
- Rusty Flute + Wakizashi Saya (zoom out of phase and phase more often)
- Mother-Daughter Ring + Bloody Hair Brooch (ultimate speed with fast activation. scratch marks are removed by the ring so listening for survivors is key with this one)
- Father's Glasses + Katsumori Talisman (the blood goes neon red/orange and the added duration helps with tracking
My suggested perks:
- BBQ and Chili for tracking after a hook
- PGTW for gen slowdown
- Ruin for gen slowdown
- MYC for easy downs
- Devour Hope (when it works) is just fun
- Sloppy Butcher if you're using Father's Glasses
- Discordance for tracking
- Haunted Grounds (when paired with Ruin is great)
I know this is long but I hope it helps! Feel free to message me if you want more info as well :)

Doesn't matter if you care or not. You need to design your suggestions accordingly, otherwise you are wasting your time.
Simply reverting changes will end up with the problem they initially set out to fix still being there. So that's almost never the right approach.
I didn't say to revert the changes, i'm just saying that Legion's power is basically useless. With or without the change.

The on-hit change was made for non-balance reasons. If it creates a problem then you should be asking for more counterbalancing changes, not for a revert.
Non-balance issues aren't negated just because of something being at the proper strength.
I didn't care about it personally but I just think it's an unfair trade since FF can't down a survivor.
-
@Peanits said:
We respond to as much as we can, but we aren't watching only the forums around the clock. Odds are if a post is disrespectful or outright insulting, it's not going to get a response. There's a fine line between constructive criticism and insults, and the latter is not how you have a conversation with another person.
As far as the basic attack change goes, it's the same as the Pig. It's to create consistency between powers so it's easier to understand what a basic attack is and what works with it. Previously, it was a bit of a mess. Something like Sloppy Butcher would work, but NOED would not. Both activated on basic attacks, but both were treated differently with Feral Frenzy. Not only is this less confusing for someone new to the game, but it also makes it much easier for us to balance.
As for mending, previously it was too easy to get stuck in an endless loop of mending (with mending times of up to 20 seconds). This left people mending most of the time which isn't exactly thrilling gameplay. There's no interaction between the killer and survivor there.
The movement speed, vault speed, and pin changes were all common requests.
Regardless, the changes have only been out for a little over a day at this point, so we'd like to see what kind of effect they have before making knee jerk reactions.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/890425#Comment_890425
We've also commented on similar threads about that exact same thing- it's not coming back because people use it to dodge lobbies. It was never intended to come back.
The Legion's FF stab is NOT the same as the Pig's dash attack. Why? Because the Legion's FF cannot down a survivor, where the Pig's dash can. That's a fine trade for the lack of perks working with the M2 attack, because at least it could down a survivor and was worth more. FF does nothing.

from what I heard, exclusive cosmetics from PAX events and stuff were given out as steam codes, so console players could not get them because console has no way to accept codes for ingame content. that's why you dont see exclusives on xbox

People have been asking for changes to rank reset for ages. I started playing a few months ago and I wanted it changed after the 2nd time it happened, because a red rank player (me) has a very hard time getting back to red ranks when all I get are potato grey rank players. It would feel like I was the only person who got reset tbh..
Oni isn't too difficult to play, it just requires practice. You likely won't get the adept achievement in your first round. Practice with him. You can also cancel the demon dash if you want to turn sharply and charge the attack a little so it gets the instadown. You don't need to rely on the turning to get downs.
I don't play on console so I can't know about the sensitivity issues, but it can't be that awful that you act like the game is unplayable. Oni's perks are okay, and if you are a little skilled you shouldnt need a slowdown perk to get the adept. He can snowball really well.
The best thing you can do is get the first hit, and the rest will come to you.
-
I actually love idea 1. Idea 3 could be too powerful, but idea 2 is a great addition. These changes would make DW viable and not just a little itch that you can choose not to scratch.
I don't play Legion anymore because of how weak they are with their power, since their power kind of hinders their ability to get downs and hooks. Every other killer's ability helps them in some way, even if it's not offensive (clown, plague in some instances, hag) But Legion's ability makes it harder for them to win.
The FF stab gives a survivor a speed boost that comes from a normal hit, but now perks dont work with the FF stab because it doesn't count as a normal M1. So there's almost no reason to use FF, since as it is now, survivors dont even really need to worry about mending until its almost down to 0. They can even work on generators while the timer goes down.
Idea 1 would make Legion a lot scarier to go against. The Doctor's "snap out of it" must be done in one go, and nobody complains about that. The only difference is theres no timer on that one and it wont make you go down on its own. The use of insanity is for tracking, which can have the same effect as a DW timer (the killer will find + down the survivor) if left alone for long enough.
Maybe i'm rambling with my support for this, but you have my vote!

Likely a bug, there are a lot of bugs with this update.
