Adrenaline doesn't hand you an advantage like NOED does, nowhere near.
if everyone does, yes. The point is that people get salty about this perk and believe it "takes no skill" as if all perks NEED to take skill, or say it "rewards playing bad" as if a killer player good will 100% always 4k before the gens are completed. And that other survivor perks don't reward "playing bad" for getting hit or hooked. lol.
-
WHO THINKS THE ADRENALINE IS FAIR? BECAUSE I THINK IT SHOULD BE REMOVED.
The reason I say this is because I've seen bad survivors who struggle the whole game escape due to this one perk, it's not smart and gives the survivor an insane advantage even if they are ok at best.
80% of survivors seem to run this and it's extremely hard to counter as it means stopping the gens from completing, there's no skill to using this perk.
Does anybody understand where I'm coming from?
Especially considering even the ace survivors use this also which makes a win damn near impossible.
-
"Killers tunneling you right out of the game/generally looking for ways to just ruin your game"
here's your problem - you're convinced that's what they're doing but really they're just playing the game. It's their job to kill you and they're going to do it in any number of ways they can. 3v1 is a lot better than 4v1.
If you're mad at bad teammates - find the good teammates and talk to them after the game, and MAKE FRIENDS. Suddenly you'll have a great team every time
If you're mad at toxic comments - that's harder but just say GG and leave the game after you're done. You can't stop people from being ######### to each other, but you can block the communication by making your profile private on steam. I'm not familiar with the other platforms tbh.

in that case what you are planning to do to stop hackers
There's no stopping hackers in ANY game. Just accept this and realized DBD does a *oh boy* pretty good job (actually) with hackers.
I've only seen 2 or 3 in my hundred or so hours into the game. Now maybe some of these hackers aren't so obvious and i haven't noticed them. It's hard when so many perks give wallhacks that it's not inconceivable that some people i faced were using actual wall hacks. You never know..

I believe Nurse and Huntress are punished more for not being perfect with their power. Nurse has a long fatigue and a cooldown on her blinks and Huntress has a wind up and can’t fake out a survivor as well as Deathslinger.
Deathslinger can just walk at a survivor to “fake” them out due to the survivor not knowing when he will shoot because he has instant ADS.
The nurse at least closes the gap between her an the survivor and huntress isn't slowed down that much after a missed attempt. Deathslinger's reload hurts SO much, which is why the best and only useful addons are the ones that increase the reload speed.

Just forcing myself in here, there you go with that little ambiguous concept of "winning"
If a killer camps and kills 1 survivor and the rest leaves, did the killer win? did the survivors win?
If a killer camps and kills 4 survivors, did the kilelr win? did the survivors lose? or was it a completely worthless match for everyone involved?
If the survivors all just stand there afk, the killer downs and hooks them all, did the killer win?
If the killer only wants to throw bottles at survivors and does so the entire game, did the killer lose when all survivors escape in the end?
The point is, there is no real definition of winning in this game, heck there is no real definition even of skill which is why im really wondering how the MMR system is going to work.
0k, 1k = loss
2k = tie
3k, 4k = win
If you survive, that's a personal victory, but not a team victory. If you die but everyone else survives, it's visa-versa.
Pretty simple IMO, the strategies involved are irrelevant.
The game however has the ranking system, so i guess black pip = tie, red pip = win, and double pip = crushing victory. This means though that both sides can "win" according to the ranking system, although it certainly doesn't feel like that in-game.

As a newer player, I don't really understand why there are add-ons- what is their purpose? It seems the devs aren't sure either
Some change the gameplay entirely, some are useless, a lot are straight upgrades so why not use them... so just another bloodpoint burning mechanism? force the grind? It's already grindy just getting the perks you want
-
And the most recent PTB beforehand - everyone said the map was beautiful but gameplay was GOD AWFUL...... no changes
It seems like they're just asking people to test for bugs before the larger community sees them...

Both can be devastating, but Deathslinger is much more perk dependent so it takes a while to get the ideal setup on him. Even then, if survivors spread out or are very good at looping/dodging, it's a hard game for him. Missing a few shots is a death sentence in some cases.
@emptyCups "Yee haw is just weaker huntress with no addons to help him. And I havent seen a single human willing equip his perks and hope for success."
Funny enough, the first time i tried for "adept Deathslinger" was on Dead Dawg Saloon, and I got it. And thanked God i didn't have to attempt that again.

This paragraph is why I'm so frustrated personally. If you think there's reasonable counterplay and that he's performing to a point where you're generally happy with him, why do you then turn around and slap an objective nerf on him that cannot be made up for with add ons because it's a complete mechanic shift? It makes no sense logically (and I dislike their "every killer should be add on reliant" strategy that their last few reworks have focused on to an extent but that's a different story)
it would make sense if the devs tweaked killers/perks all the time, and they're looking to shake up the game. There's a number of other killers that should've gotten this "shake up" first... but maybe it's a sign that they're going to change a lot to keep the game fresh? Idk.

Sure, the BP on killer is nice.
But there's really no denying that - assuming you're "trying" - killer has much more tension to it than survivor.
That's not me saying that one is easier than the other, so no one needs to argue that. Simply that survivor always feels relaxing while killer feels tense.
I think that's mainly because most of the time you're holding M1 and hitting space every now and then. It's an easy Quick Time Event, but I don't know if making it hard will be fun. Honestly not sure how to make repairing generators more tense

Anything that doesn't inject into the game's .exe is fine. Same reason why discord is not bannable despite being a massive advantage.

Be happy!!! Bhvr is on the case. Soon you won’t be able to see ranks so all will be fixed.
yeah this is what I'm afraid of. It's painfully obvious when survivors have 20 hours in the game vs 2000... and if the MM doesn't get changed but rather disguised, it's STILL going to be frustrating, maybe even more. Now you can see at the end game "oh my teammates were rank 18... I'm less mad at them and more just frustrated with the MM". But if they just hide ranks? New players are going to get FLAMED. Even more than they do now.

Tier lists don't represent reality. It just tries to show potential. Nurse has the potential to destroy. But it takes a player doing 0 mistakes and reading every movement while LOS is blocked. And all that doesn't matter because she became so unfun that noone plays here anymore.
Get the facts straight first.
The facts straight.. you mean opinions? I should've known your opinion before posting? And apparently everyone else's opinion is just like yours?
lol
-
As TWIXT mentioned, change to 3/4/5% increases - but I would add in M1 swing cooldown
-
It's weird how people mention the nurse change as if she's been trashed by the devs... yet every single tier list has Nurse and Spirit on S tier. So you guys want her even stronger?
For this change... let's wait and see. Some top players put Billy in the S or high A tier, so I wonder what he'll be like now.

OK WHEN ARE WE GETTING GODZILLA AS A KILLER????
You could just take some steps around the map and squash everyone!
-
IMO - remove the bonus BP for both perks, and rework WGLF
Then change every perk to have only 1 (ONE) tier.
-
Survivor:
Kindred, Botany Knowledge, Alert, Hope
Killer:
Play with your food, Nemesis, I'm all Ears, Discordance
That was a fun exercise, I wish they would do events like other games have, where certain perks are "banned" for a week or weekend, just to shake up the game a little.
-
The first step is to free yourself of the rules that you made up for the game. If they're not hacking, then they're playing the game however they want to, and you can't expect everyone to follow your rule book. You're just going to trap yourself in this cage and start projecting onto the people you're playing with or against.
"I can't believe this killer used <insert perk here>, what a sweaty try hard with no friends!"
"I can't believe my teammate did <this strategy>, what a moron! Doesn't he know to do <other strategy> instead??"
In the end, you're just making YOURSELF upset for no real reason. You're not in control of your own thoughts.. you can choose to think of these situations in other ways. Maybe they're not as good as you. Maybe they're trying something different. Maybe they get enjoyment out of winning. Or maybe you've been doing it wrong, but you can't see that now because you're so sure what you're doing is right.
I always say good game after a match - not because I'm rating anyone's performance, but I'm thanking everyone for participating and allowing me to play the game. I think THAT is being a good sport, not doing certain things that'll make the game easier for your opponent. Being nice and complimenting the other players will lead to positive vibes and encouragement all around.

Where at all did I mention that DS needs STBFL? Unless you're on an indoor map (Where huntress would be 100% worse) even with default wipe speed you can still get a shot on a survivor in just about every case where huntress can get a hatchet melee combo.
there's NOTHING he can do, and is forced to break them.
Okay, so he breaks them and gets a hit on the survivor, plus has a pallet out of the way. People act like breaking a pallet means the survivor just vanishes while you do it. If you play the break well, survivors will be maybe 10 yards away by the time you're done. Just shoot them with your instant windup gun afterwards and get a free hit, plus easy relocation back to the pallet you just broke.
I'm starting to get the feeling that you're basing this all on playing AGAINST the deathslinger, rather than playing with him.

The top players I follow that actually play Deathslinger frequently and don't find him boring (namely Zubat) think he's better than Huntress.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1397288#Comment_1397288
Hard disagree. Between having a microscopic terror radius with no hum, and an instant windup time, you can m1-shoot-down combo with DS just as easily as you can Hatchet-melee combo with Huntress. Plus he plays around loops infinitely better due to the lack of windup time and penalty for putting his gun down, which are Huntress's biggest weak points. And the chain is so forgiving that you can get hit on the other side of short loops and DS can still lunge around, or walk backwards out in the open to remove the possibility of getting behind cover because you're moving too fast to get caught. Good Huntresses are scary for sure, but I'd rather go against a huntress than a deathslinger every day of the week.
Well the huntress starts off with the hatchet and M1 combo.. DS needs 8 hits on non-obsession targets? Those aren't even remotely comparable..
And some loops the DS has it better off, but you can just pre-throw pallets and there's NOTHING he can do, and is forced to break them.

When you say poor for gameplay do you mean different gameplay? As a killer I hate how much distance survivors can gain just by dropping and running, as a survivor I struggle to find gems but I do that on all indoors honestly.
I find most of the people not liking it are complaining about how unsafe the pallets are, which I get that takes a lot of the mind games away. But other than that what is so bad?
Well it would be helpful if you at least had a clue where to go, which floor you are on, and where the gens are. In the other indoor maps you can at least have a clue with the flickering lights, but that's for some reason not the case on this new map

I think its great. You have to play it a little different. It cracks me up because people complain about the game getting stale, the devs introduce a map that requires you play a little differently and you guys complain about that too
Getting lost and frustrated isn't playing differently. How do you play this map that's different from any other map in the game? Don't do gens but instead do the children's homework assignments that they left in their lockers??

Almost no terror radius is incredible. Huntress has the lullaby no matter what perks she uses.
Quickscoping is incredible. Huntress has the windup that gives players a tell, that she's going to throw. You can even see when she's throwing. Deathslinger is instantaneous.
Long shots aren't incredible. They're eh.
I bet most high rank players will choose Deathslinger over Huntress.
Having played both, as well as growing up on first person shooters - Huntress is better.
Her hatchets are the size of trucks, and are SO forgiving. Deathslinger has 0 forgiveness with his pixel perfect hitbox and bugged survivor hitboxes.
►Shoot = miss
Deathslinger: you're slowed and have to wait for the spear to return. Reload - slowed again. They're now out of range, start trudging along or give up on the chase.
Whereas Huntress, miss - keep chasing bro you're barely slowed!
►Shoot = hit
Deathslinger: nice! now you have to reel them in to hurt them. This takes time, and sometimes there's a tree or rock that they can move behind to avoid the hit. You either get an M1 and cannot follow up with another shot because you have to wipe blood, then reload, then fire again but they're well out of range now. Or they break the chain and best case scenario they weren't injured in the first place. Worst case you just wasted time. Reload and try again or catch up to them.
Huntress? you just get a hit. That's it. If they're not down, you're barely slowed and you can follow up with a quick M1 if you are close enough.
The only thing he has over her is the reloading mechanic and humming. Her addons are better, including the blatantly OP Iridescent.
I don't want to make it seem like deathslinger is garbage - he's pretty middle tier or even a little weak.. but i still love him. He's just too much fun to play.
-
Survivor - Kindred, Sprint Burst, Adrenaline or WGLF, Borrowed Time
Killer - Discordance, Pop, BBQ & Chili, + one other perk. Once I unlock Corrupt Intervention, it'll get tight.
-
Probably because they didn't like the game or the audience that was attracted to it. It was a cheaply made jumpscare game that went viral, there are TONS of them out there on steam. It would make more sense to import the monster from Amnesia, rather than this or something like a Minecraft Creeper. DBD is just more mature/dark/edgy
-
We're going to find out which of you is one of those things.... Dwight you're first
-
This is my first event since playing (started when Deathslinger was released)
- The crowns look ugly and not fitting of the aesthetic, besides only fitting on the base skin. It only really matches on Jeff and The Nurse... and these will be in the game forever. They are more like halos as well...
- The cakes are still bugged... not much to say here
- The finding of the crowns mechanics pushes Killers (myself included) to either hunt people down who have the crown to deny them of it, or farm with the players and let them get it for free. I've been farming, but I wonder if people are disappointed that I'm doing it sometimes. Sometimes you just want a normal game of DBD despite the free bloodpoints..
- You're also not encouraged to level up killers if you like to play with your friends once in a while. Since it'd make more sense to stockpile a bunch of cakes and then play games where you get a huge bonus. And you should do it on just the survivor you're best at, so leveling up a survivor from 1 to 15 will get you cakes on a character that doesn't have the best perks
I dunno. I'm just chilling and letting people get their crowns, idc if the entity is mad at me, I'm already matched against red ranks when I play. It just sucks when I get bored of farming and I want to play for real, but then I'm screwing over someone who just wants to unlock a cosmetic.
It's a bitter taste in my mouth.

a LOT of this has to do with the matchmaking. New-ish players are being matched with 1000+hr veterans, and there's just no chance they do well.
-
What if the clown had a sub-machine gun? Maybe an MP5? He could pick off targets at a range and be lethal at close-mid range.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but why didn't they just clone the party streamers, change the value to 104% (and double check that you didn't make a typo and hit 140....), change the icon, change the sound when collected, and downshift the rarity to common?
Did they accidentally clone the other cake which only gives you points for yourself? Did they really just typo the 104? I'm trying very hard not to be embarrassed
-
Why would the entity reward mercy?
You already get a reward for giving the survivors mercy - their gratitude

I've been puzzled by this as well, and I think it's a combination of a few things. Like the people above mentioned, some people only play 1 side. In a game like Left 4 Dead, players take turns playing both, so they get both perspectives on each map/checkpoint.
Another thing to mention is, ironically, the design choices to make it more 'casual' or like a 'party game'
People can bring red items/addons into a match and after the game get flamed because it made it seem like this person used an unfair advantage. And of course I have to bring up keys and moris. Similar to the items, people feel cheated out of a game because someone else decided to bring that in with them. Can you imagine trying to play competitive smash bros when someone has the ability to bring in a hammer?
Then of course we have the interactivity with certain strategies. You cannot do anything on the hook other than flap your arms or try to escape, and when you're struggling there's nothing you can do at all. There's very little you can do as a slug, and it can be extremely frustrating when you wanted to play a game, but you're instead just watching the killer camp or tunnel you for a quick kill. The game is designed for people to get hooked, so it's not like a huge misplay to end up being hooked, and if you're camped, you will depip. You're punished for something outside your control. That lack of control gets people angry, and it's not because of some NPC, it's another person. That person is making you de-rank, that person is making you not play a game.
I think if changes are to be made for items and the pipping system, you'd need a huge overhaul. I find it bizarre that the survivors are all on a team, but don't get team points. Players should be rewarded for playing great individually, but there should be a bonus given to the team based on how many survived. The players knocked out early can still get something, and it promotes actually helping the team as opposed to farming them off hooks. I don't know if my solution is the best, but I don't think people should get actively punished THRICE for being camped- once for a boring game, second for de-ranking, third for no bloodpoints.
