A 4K for the killer across ranks? The stats show the majority of games are in favor of the killer, and that over 70% are 4k rounds. How can people say the game is at all survivor biased when the data shows otherwise?

Cause most survivors are potato and cause each other to die. Killers get kills cause survivors screw themselves most of the time.

  • Balancing the game that way is expecting players to fail in 50% of their objective, that's hardly fair or Balanced.

  • I very rarely give hatch because i despise how the mechanic works and how survivors abuse it not only against killers but against each other aswell. If i notice i'm against inexperienced Survivors then i try to end the match ASAP. If i am against someone ruinning the game for others i punish the 4 as a team. Survivor role is and should always be based on team work, if one person doesn't wanna work then everyone gets punished. I will do my best to kill every single Claudette and Dwight.

  • Bug aside, his POV and FOV are just horrible. He is really freaking Tall but your POV is your chest not his head and the FOV for Killers is so bad that it feels like he is eating his hands.

  • Moldy Spaghetti Code, Years of Ban Aids, No Quality Control, Genuine Incompetence and Deliberate Ignorance.

  • Dead Hard is more anoying to deal with but Sprint Burst is the better Perk.

  • Old Dying Light was not fun for Survivors and reworked Dying Light isn't useful for killers. I think the best way to change Dying Light would be for it to apply a Debuff to Obession, the Debuff would slow their repair speed based on how manny Survivors are alive and when survivors get sacrificed or Moried then the Obsession is granted their "Light" and get's buffed so they can become more efficient and help the Team in later portions of the match.

So the Obsession get's the repair Debuff at start of match and they aren't as useful on Gens and killer will keep Obsession alive for as long as possible to minize their input into repairing Gens and get some synergy with other Obsession Perks like STBFL or PWYF. The debuff can be Big as long as the Buffs after each of the other 3 are Sacrificed are great aswell. So they start out very weak in terms of gen repair ability but get progressively better and if they are the last Survivor they can choose Hatch or final gen or both.

This way you guarantee at least 1 Survivor isn't gen rushing while you deal with the rest of the Team. This looks like a valuable Perk throughout the whole match and compliments other Obsession Perks. I'd run it over Run+ Undying.

  • It's not overblown, only PC players have access to PTB so opinions are very limited plus PTB's are always short. Now that people have all the time and there's more people you're getting more opinions. It's that Simple, he wasn't strong to begin with. He is C tier at best.

    Wait, it's actually bricking consoles?

Yeah no I'm tired of this. BHVR, please spend the next 3-6 months fixing bugs, optimizing the game, and all that stuff.

A whole year wouldn't be enough, the mold on this spaghetti code is very resistant.

  • First i was one of the first people claiming he was weak in PTB, go ahead go check my posts if you don't believe me and i'm still standing with that position cause absolutly nothing changed. You're talking about C and D tier killers for the most Part, Being better than that doesn't make him B tier, at most he'd be in high C tier wich he could be.

Nemesis has to hit 3 times and gives 2 speed boosts to survivors in the same chase or be an M1 killer. Is this really stronger than C and D tier? Ghostface can 1 shot and prepare scenarios where the 1 shots guarantee a win, Billy can 1 shot and cover more space with his mobility, Myers can 1 shot and Mori and punish altruism plays, Trickster can get 2 downs on any unhook and punish altruism plays, Legion can get 4 injures faster than virtually any other killer, even Wraith, can apply Broken status effects and prevent healing, can vault pallets wich nobody else can, except Nurse who can also ignore pallets, Pig has more reach with her Dash than Nemesis with tentacle, can redirect her Dash unlike Tentacle, has stealth elements and slowdown, weak and completly RNG but you can make it work, Clown will shut loops down entirely, can wallhack, can get 1 shots aswell. Trapper getting a basement hook is almost a guaranteed kill and Trap placement will work without RNG, well placed Traps will mean hooks.

Tell me how is Nemesis B tier when he is so limited? Zombies are RNG as much as RBT's but you can more reliably force people out of Jigsaw boxes and make them waste time than you can force people into Zombies, 1 shot downs can prevent looping entirely so Nemesis tentacle can't compete with that, Nemesis can only deal with loops at tier 2, he is as weak as Myers is in Tier 1 but Myers getting out of Tier 1 is significantly more important than Nemesis getting out of tier 1, Tier 3 for Myers is significantly more powerful than Tier 3 on Nemesis, meaning Tiering up with Nemesis is less rewarding wich is why getting tier 3 on Myers takes longer cause the rewards are significantly better.

Contaminating Survivors does nothing bad for them, there's no point in contaminating Survivors besides you being forced too if you want to tier up, tiering up via Zombies takes alot of time so you're forced to hit survivors but you're getting nothing of value. Why can't the tentacle break pallets and walls by default? Why is there a tier system when tiering up is basicly pointles?

This isn't a well designed killer and in being so he can't be high tier, it's riddiculous that people thought he was strong to begin with. He was never that strong to begin with but since only PC players can access PTB the amount of people who could play Nemesis was very limited. Now that mor people have access to it you're clearly seeing the other spectrum and his power is being diluted.

  • If Nem is B Tier then every killer is being over rated.

  • It's not disproportionate at all. DbD has always been like this, people just pretend it isn't when things are slightly more stable. THE GAME HAS ALWAYS BEEN BARELY PLAYABLE. Graphical options are absolutly absent, Colorblind mode took 5 years to be made, there's no brightness setting, there's no FOV setting, it took 4 years to improve camera control on Consoles, Consoles don't even have Graphic presets it's just auto locked on Ultra in an optimized game. There's sound issues everytime, like Free Iron Will, ghost screams and moans, there's Desync, there's hit validation, there's notifications causing FPS drops, there's the ever increasing load times. There's a MULTITUDE OF ISSUES that have happened ALWAYS. And we never got a fix to any of this and the reason why is because BHVR is incompetent and because they are updating a very simple and old code everytime. Everytime they add something, the code breaks.

  • Dumpster fire chapter on a dumpster fire game.

  • BHVR doesn't want you to play killer. They said so in the Anniversary stream, they want killers to play Survivor. Ofcourse Killer perks need complicated restrictions, you don't want killer to be the power role do you?

  • Give me an example of a problem BHVR had and fixed and never came back. The Free Iron Will bug still happens nearly 2 years later. It started late 2019 and it still happens to this day. Not as frequemt but still happens. To me thats not fixed. Infinite loops are still in the game, to me that's not fixed. Desyncs are still happening, Grabs are still busted, performance is at an all time low on consoles, does that sound like Fixed to you? I guess it does...

FYI Patch Notes come with a Known Buggs section aswell those are issues they are aware off but didn't fix.

there is no point to making a sequel to this game, and fixes will come over time the dev team may not be the best but hopefully in the future change happens

what fixes over time are you talking about? Give me an example of something BHVR fixed.

I don't doubt it, we're talking about BHVR but my god the chances of having something that actually works properly are much better than keeping to update the clusterhell that is this game.

  • Here we are post RE chapter and the game hit a new all time low on Performance. Map disabled, FPS drops, more Desyncs. Seriously this is just too much for me, i can't understand how a game can be this bad. We even have Invisible Pallets, #########. If this only affected people who buy the DLC's then fine i'd be off the hook since i have no interest in the Chapter because of how horrible it is now and was in the PTB but this affects everyone. This is unnacceptable. Close the book on this game and restart FFS, you have the money from scamming players with skins that cost twice as much as characters for 5 years, make new coding without all the errors, without all the bugs, without all the band aid "fixing".

Because they have to take the characters from partway through RE2/3??

Are you saying they picked the Remaked characters and that's why the backstories are #########? Cause that doesn't make sense at all, their backstory is exactly the same. The Remakes didn't change the backstory for the characters, just events in the games are different, and that's mostly on RE3 Remake, but the lore is the same. Capcom doesn't need DbD, if the Chapter fails, wich it is already doing, then it doesn't hurt Capcom one bit, not only is DbD too small it's also just guest characters, their presence in DbD has no impact for what Capcom is gonna do with RE in the future or the Legacy of the characters in Gaming History, their presence in DbD is merely a foot note like something on a wiki page. It's DbD that should care about doing their best with the oportunity they have to use the characters.

Wrong, other games have fixed thier foundation. BHVR just doesn't want to do it because they can't charge you for it

It's not the fact they can't charge you. They already charge more for skins than characters themselves, they make plenty money. It's the fact they can't, they don't know how.

  • @catbeans said:

Stop buying DLC until they optimize this ######### show

Then no one buys DLC's and game dies. 5 years 0 optimization. THe game can't be optimized because the game's foundation is basicly quick sand. Good concept terrible execution.

  • Guys Capcom doesn't need to give them creative freedom with the Backsotry, BHVR just needs to put the existing backstory into DbD. It's simple copy and paste and not even that did they do. This isn't a creative freedom problem. BHVR simply did not give these characters their backstory.

So I've seen a lot of posts about Nemesis being underpowered and I would counter that argument with all killers need buffs.

Here's what I came up with:

At the start of the match all survivors should already be on hooks. Everytime a survivor hits their skill check in struggle the killer gains 100,000 BP. I think it's only fair.

If survivors get off of hook then survivor auras should be visible at all times. I really don't see a problem with that.

In an attempt to perfectly balance the game pallets should be removed. We need more Shelter Woods type maps without the tiles.

Killer speeds should be 10m/s and survivors should be 1m/s. Killers need to have a fair chance so maybe double the amount of speed for bloodlust. Maybe add a slight decrease to bloodlust activation time and have it activate during 1 second of chase time.

Killers should also have instant downs, it's unfair to have to hit survivors twice.

Survivors shouldn't have perks, that's unfair to killers. Killers however should be able to use all of their perks at the same time if they choose to.

Generators should have 500% regression at all times during the trial. I think this will help with gen pressure a bit. Also it should take a full hour for survivors to complete a generator. This will very slightly help with gen rushing.

Totems should take 10 minutes to break. This might help totems from being cleansed so quickly.

There might be more I'm missing but I think these minor changes should somewhat help killers in trials.

    KilLeR iS FiNE!!! BuFF SoLoQ....

  • It's not Capcom, Capcom doesn't need BHVR and DbD to get popularity on the characters. Capcom loses no money in the Chapter being hot garbage. The Map was disabled not because of Capcom, Players are facing severe performance issues not because of Capcom. It's not because of Capcom...

  • EZ, it's BHVR, you should already know this.

  • They should implement 2 more difficulty to Bot matches.

  • @OopsAllHexes said:

Everything about this patch was stupid except the LB buff, which was needed. The nerf that was given before it left PTB made it trash again.

I'm assuming they nerfed Franklin's because they knew it would be good on Nemesis for shutting down vaccines, just like how Stridor is wonderful for Spirit.

What wrong with not using the Vaccine? Being Contaminated isn't harmful, he isn't Plague or Pyramid Head. Nemesis range is terrible, don't vault pallets or Windows when he has LOS, same as all other ranged killers, you don't lock into animations when they have their wind up ready.

  • I was one of the first people to warn this would be a dumpster fire Chapter. I went into full detail why Nemesis would suck, why the map would be horrible and nothing meaningful would change from PTB to live, because it never does. I wasn't there for Legion's release but iknow the full story, i know the full story of GF aswell, and we've just had Trickster...

  • Why no variety? Because most killers can't handle the game. The game is not Balanced with the 1 in mind, it's Balanced for the 4, and 4 bad ones at that.

  • 5th perk is unnecessary, that would be another band aid instead of fixing the real problems. Plus not all perks are good for all killers and some perks are just bad no matter what.

  • MMR won't work without the game going into a competitive route and for that to happen BHVR would have to stop doing what they've done for 5 years, catering to casuals. Why does BHVR want MMR? They can very easily fix the Colored Rank system by reducing the window on the range to simply 1 or 2 ranks above and below instead of the current 8 rank difference, they can make ranking up harder aswell so Ranks feel earned, they can easily achieve this by increasing the requirements in the lower ranks so people don't rank up too fast without actually knowing how to play. There i've solved SoloQ and MatchMaking.

Personally i'm not against MMR if the conditions are right, those conditions being BHVR actually fixes the game for HIGH MMR players, fix the Maps, remove stupid bloodlust and breakable walls, fix spawns, remove Map RNG, reduce map size, adjust loop strength. After this is done we can finally go on about Perks and killers, but maps are the biggest problem in DbD. IF i knew , if i had 100% guarantee, that is what BHVR will do then i'd go all in on MMR but i don't so MMR alone won't solve anything. Fixing Maps will make more people wanna play killer aswell, so there i fixed killer mostly aswell.

Stupid easy Solutions that for the most part involve number tweaking but BHVR always refuses to them, they rather introduce Bloodlust to fix infinites, then breakable walls, isntead of fixing Totems they gave Undying... BHVR in 5 years has never fixed anything they just added more problems to the mix to replace older problems.

  • @FrenziedRoach said:

I don't get it either to be honest. To me it seems to be a fair compromise between giving weaker survivors a strong place they can use, but preventing the loops to be in play the entire game where they can be abused by the good survivors

Game isn't always about experienced players - you have to give the weaker survivors a place they can catch a temporary breather.

That's the problem itself, you're giving bad survivors a tool that can be exploited by good survivors wich forces killers to have to deal with the wall first instead of teaching bad survivors how to loop, instead of fixing the map so it isn't exploitable.

  • @Seraphor said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2264634#Comment_2264634

They would need to add another 20-30 ranks, minimum.

Make it more difficult to rank up by requiring something like 10-15 pips per rank.

Then add in more complex conditions for gaining and losing rank. Some conditions could grant you up to 3 or 4 pips, some could cost you 3 or 4 pips.

Then split it out so that each killer has an individual rank. So that you can be rank 1 on Spirit but maybe rank 30 out of 50 on Trapper if you're crap with him.

Then the ranks might mean something.

But... that's exactly what the MMR is doing, it's just hidden in the background. MMR is just a different ranking system that isn't displayed for you and all players to see.

It's just easier to make it a new system than to try and retrofit it into the existing rank system, especially the 'individual killer rank' part.

They don't need to add more ranks. Just increase the requirements, more bloodpoints and more pips, especially in the first 5 ranks, getting from rank 20 to 15 is the easiest thing and you don't need to do anything special for this to happen. It's simple number tweaking, there's no retrofitting to take place. You don't want individual killer rank. You don't wanna be a Trapper main and be rank 1 with him and have 1000 hours in the game and then start playing Spirit and face Potatoes, that's not fair and you're on a stronger killer aswell. Individual killer rank is the dumbest thing possible, that's the same as deranking on purpose. I'd rather have bot matches in tutorial where i can pick my killer and learn the basics and then play the killer on my normal rank.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2264612#Comment_2264612

Again, and I hate to sound this harsh, but your points are irrelevant. You should be happy MMR exists and hopefully (soon) will be fully implemented. It means that people who do not want hard fought challenging games will get routed to their appropriate level over time. If you don't want to "sweat" as you call it, then you will play less effectively than those who do. It means your MMR rating (however that is calculated) will adjust and you will end up playing people who either don't really make an effort anymore than you do, or are so bad at the game that it feels the same. Do you see my point?

A skill-based rating system means that all people find their level. If you want to half ass your way through the game, you will end up playing against other people who do the same, or are just bad. If you want to win consistently, then clearly YOU want to win. You want to put other people in a situation where they are having to SWEAT to beat you. So don't kid a kidder. Don't be a hypocrite. You don't get to have it both ways. Either you are playing more relaxed (which means your opponents also get more relaxed games) or you are playing to win.

Chilling on my main so i don't have to sweat or playing another killer is the same as reverse boosting, i'm purposefully manipulating MMR. I don't wanna beat up Potatoes just because i changed the killer i'm playing and nobody can force me to play multiple killers either to have good MMR on them, these 2 things don't actually represent my MMR. I'm not a Spirit player but imagine i started playing her after MMR get's implemented, how manny Potatoes must i go through when in fact i'm an experienced killer? Not only me changing killer is already benefiting Me but i changed to a stronger killer aswell so again it's benefitting Me. Individual MMR for each killer is not good. Me manipulating my MMR by not playing and taking a challenge seriously on my main killer is not gonna give me a stabble MMR. I'd rather have a single global MMR instead so i don't get punished for playing my main and i'm not punishing Potatoes for not not playing my main. If i change killers then i should be tested accordingly to my overall killer MMR and i changed my killer because i wanted to instead of being forced to because i don't wanna sweat or my killer can't handle the high MMR games. It's a comfortable middle term for everyone.

Individual killer MMR is dumb and exploitable because it avoids the actual player skill. People learn things at different rates, i can change killer and learn it faster than someone else, wich eliminates playtime and experience as a deciding factor in MMR wich means MMR is only taking into account how well you do but how well you do has manny factors behind it such as you purposefully not doing well so MMR is not accurate.

I'm ok with MMR if it's Global for all killers and Global for Survivors or they make 1 single MMR that represents both. I'll be ok with MMR if BHVR is foced to fix the game. MMR showed how Strong Survivor is in high skill levels, as if we didn't know that already from every other source...Just putting MMR in a game filled with RNG isn't gonna solve anything but we have no assurance that BHVR will fix what needs to be fixed so having MMR is pointless. With high MMR the same people will face each other more often. I saw streamers face the exact same players i faced. So we all had around the same MMR Range wich is stupid, i should be nowhere near the MMR of people who have thousands more hours than i do and neither am i a genius killer to achieve high MMR in my play time wich is already a sign that there's something very wrong with how they are calculating MMR or the data they collected was based on me facing Potatoes wich is a false representation of MMR wich means that any killer who does well in their first few games is immediatly going to get high MMR, because at the low skill level killer is easier, and be put against high MMR Survivors regardless of actual expeirence with the game.

So not only can i manipulate my MMR to get easier opponents but the game itself will give beginer killers opponents they aren't ready for because they beat survivors in their first few matches because by nature the killer experience is easier in low skill levels. How is any of this accurate or fair, how can any of this be in DbD , especially when we can't tell BHVR will fix the game so it is fair for everyone at all skill levels? This is the killer experience with MMR. Both scenarios High MMR Survivors win by facing players they shouldn't be facing and by being the natural power role in high skill levels because the game is unbalanced.

Are you oblivious ? They are redoing everything in DbD, every asset is getting changed. We are getting DbD 2 it’s just piece by pieces.

Are we tho? What exactly have they changed? They are just making visual upgrades, if anything they made the Maps worse to play in, THe Game and ORANGEFIELDS come to mind. They never fixed any map issues or Totem, they just gave you bloodlust, then when bloodlust didn't work they tried breakable walls, wich still solves nothing and everyone dislikes them but they have never cared to solve the isue, they just circumvented them. Why? Can't they fix them? If they can't then something is horribly wrong. You don't fix infinite loops by forcing killers to break stuff or run the loop for 30 seconds, you get rid of the infinite loop that's it. You don't fix Totem spawns being horrible or Survivors spawning on totems by creating Undying, you fix the spawns... Where exactly are we getting DbD2? I have seen 0 changes to the core game in 2.5 years. The Meta is the same, the issues are the same, the bugs are the same. Nothing is fixed. the Free Iron Will bug still happens a year and half later...Dedicated Servers still create fake hits on windows, pallets, and grabs. Either they are making everything cheaply or they don't know any better. In any case DbD is in a bad place. And there's always the same problems being discussed. Poor graphic optimization, no brightness options, no fov options, no console optimization, Balance, bugs, new content always being released in poor state. IS this what you consider DbD2? Is this what you want to keep happening? This has been happening for years, it's not because of Covid, this is how BHVR handled DbD.

  • @Orion said:

Spaghetti code is very difficult to fix, but not completely impossible. On the other hand, rebuilding the game from the ground up to fix its issues and calling it a "sequel", while making everyone pay for it, definitely won't go over too well. If they just halt progress on DbD while working on the "sequel" and give it away for free, they'll essentially have no income for a few years, which is probably not sustainable, while DbD (and its playerbase) tanks due to lack of bug fixes.

Balance issues can be fixed without requiring a "sequel". There's no reason why the same exact devs working on a "sequel" would magically be able to fix all the balance issues when they haven't been able to do so in the first game. I don't understand why you think this would change anything in regards to balance.

I'd rather they fix the base game.

I honestly think it'd be easier for them at this point to do a game from scratch and do it right rather than have a huge catalog of issues to fix. They can make DbD2 Free to Play. They are already making money with every DLC, Cosmetic and Rifts so they can keep that and make Base game free.

You are right in saying there's no guarantee they won't screw up again but if they do then it proves DbD1 couldn't be fixed either cause they'd screw it up aswell.

  • @Northener1907 said:

Open all perks again? Prestige so much killers and some survivors again? And still some killers and survivors did not p3 by me.

Mhm, no thank you. I am happy with DbD

Who says DbD2 has to be the same grind fest? They could change how progress works in DbD 2 so it isn't a Grind. Effectively DbD 2 would just be the upgrade we deserve after 5 years.

I know I shouldn't be, but I am, because the rank system is broken, which means rank-based matchmaking is broken, which is why we need MMR.

The problem isn't the matchmaking, the problem is getting ranks is too easy. Fix the ranking issue then rank based Matchmaking is fixed. The reason it's easy to rank up is because BHVR makes the game easy, it's that simple. They want any and all people to play the game, so they keep making the game more and more accessible wich screw the game but BHVR being BHVR they don't understand.

So by your logic, you want those Potatoes to suffer? :) How is going up against competent and challenging opponents a punishment. Isn't that why you are here? Playing a game where you know the outcome is a waste of time, and utterly pointless. I do agree that the real power shifts to the Survivors as they become better, but that is only fair. You dined well on Potatoes and it is only fitting that they get their chance to shine as they have learned the ropes. But is it impossible? No. Let me put this in context for you.

    1. I don't play Nurse.
    2. I don't play Spirit.
    3. I don't play the new, as of yet unrecognized God, Wraith.
    4. I don't play, well, any of the A or S Tier Killer.
    5. I play Myers.
    6. I play Spooky Myers in fact (also known as Jump Scare Myers).
    7. I take him outside of indoor maps regularly.
    8. I am a Rank-1 Killer with him.
    9. During the MMR Test, it is clear my Rating with him is high because I fought NOTHING but Red Rank BEASTS.
    10. I won more than I lost. I got a 3K+ in more matches than I lost or got a draw combined. This is using the typical rating of 3K+ equals a win, 2K equals a draw, and 0-1K equals a loss. I played a lot of games. They were hard fought and difficult. I loved every minute of it win, lose, or draw. Was I playing from behind the eight ball? Yes, mostly. Will this make me a better player (you too)? Almost certainly. In that 48 hours test I felt an improvement in my Killer Looping. I had to get better because I was consistently facing people who understood the nature of a Spooky Myers and how to counter him. My point being, this last point, is that you rise to the occasion, you adapt, and it is even more satisfying to do so.

MMR exists to give you opponents worthy of your station. It isn't a punishment; it is a reward. The game is recognizing that you are "ready for the show!" It means you are moving ever onward and upward. My own, personal goal is to one day get good enough to take on the Otz, Monto, Stalky Boi, and all the crazy 5K+ hour types and actually make a good showing for myself. That isn't going to happen on a steady practice diet of Potatoes and others who have impressive Rank but NOT sufficient skills. In short, I NEED to be playing against people who are better than me to get better. That is the nature of learning.

I don't want Potatoes to suffer at all, i've presented solutions to this in other posts, created by me and other people, Potatoes only have to suffer now because of how killer has to be at high level, you can't present every killer player with increasingly difficult matches because not all killer players want those matches or can afford to spend that much time in DbD.

The Solution to that is individual killer MMR right? But my prefered killer is Ghostface, i play him alot, i can manage myself with him so my MMR on him will be higher so everytime i wanna play my favourite killer i will have to deal with an increasing amount of stress just because i'm playing my favourite killer. How is this reasonable? It's not my fault if i don't like other killers, wich i do, i play Legion, Bubba and occasionally some Myers but i shouldn't be forced to play something i don't enjoy or don't know as much just because i don't wanna stress myself when playing Ghostface. I'd rather have an MMR based on my overall killer experience rather than individual killer, that would mean i don't get punished for playing my favourite killer.

I have no desire to be the best Ghostface or be as good as X,Y or Z guy, i just want to play the game and do as best as i can but i wanna feel that it is possible, i'd rather lose cause it was my bad than lose because i felt powerless. With MMR you don't feel it's possible, you either force yourself to do it or you lose wich is the same thing, forcing myself to be sweaty against increasingly harder opponents just because i was doing good before isn't fun, innevitably the challenge will be too much, the stress is too much. Am i a casual DbD player? Yes i am. Am i a Potato i don't think so. Collectively i have 300 hours, 240 on PS4/5 and the rets on PC, i know not much but different people gather knowledge differently so hours doesn't mean i don't understand the game any less than people with more hours, i understand the game wich is why i feel like i do, i play less because of this actually.

I wouldn't mind MMR if BHVR actually fixes the game and makes killer playable at high level without it having to be super sweaty. High level games can be fun without being sweaty when it's a matter of player skill but DbD has to much RNG that influences player skill. The core game design is flawed, take Maps for the best example, when Maps are broken what does BHVR? It adds Bloodlust, it adds breakable Walls, those don't fix the core design issue, it's just band aid fixxing. BHVR doesn't acknowledge their fails and fixes them, they circumvent the issues with another thing, same for Totems, are they gone too fast? Here's Undying. Then they nerf Undying because it was affecting Survivors. But where's the real fix to the real issue? Nowhere... This is why i play DbD less time than manny people but that doesn't mean i don't know DbD, BHVR and all the history of the game over 5 years.

Why are you paying attention to the ranks? The whole point of MMR is that ranks don't mean anything, especially after the last reset.

What you've described is the normal matchmaking for me as a rank 5 killer. Nothing but red ranks usually. MMR put me more where I should be in a mix of roughly green-purples. Of course the actual ranks were all over the place, but the skill level was just right.

It's far too easy to rank up as killer, and even when you lose you can black pip.

You shouldn't be rank 5 then.

When there are not enough killers around to make the system work, then the devs need to find a way to convince more people to play killer.

The only way to incentive people to play killer is to well make killer playable at high level. Without MMR killer is weak at high level and with MMR it's even weaker. All the good killers we know were struggling, all the good killers only some of us know, were struggling. Why? Because Killer role at high level is underpowered. 70% of killer roster can't compete with good Survivors. Why? Because they're not competing JUST against good Survivors, they're competing against RNG from Maps. Killer's biggest obstacle in DbD is the Maps. We have Bloodlust and Breakable Walls as band aid fixes to problems BHVR refuses to acknowledge. BHVR has never fixed a Map, they added more things to the mix to circumvent the original problem. Same thing with perks, if there's a problem BHVR fixes it with Perks, Totems gone too fast? Here's Undying.

BHVR has no interest in fixing DbD or they don't have the skill to based on the 5 years. I wouldn't mind MMR if it means BHVR finally realizes or admits they screwed up from the get go and just take 1 or 2 years to adress the core issues. But will they? Do they want to? I sincerely doubt.

  • To me the only benefit from SBMM,MMR, whatever you wanna call it is that it showcases how unbalanced, broken, terribly designed and executed DbD is. These Matchmaking Systems can't work on a game that relies so heavily on RNG, you never play the same Map twice, you play RNG variations of the same Map this alone means there's no consistency for MMR to be meaningful. The same Map with different variations will have different results. We need the Maps to be consistant so we can Balance everything else.

For us to have MMR they need to redo the game, get rid of Map RNG, get rid of the variable solutions to Map RNG like Bloodlust for example, get rid of Breakable Walls. We need to redesign the maps to be fair not prettier. MMR is a small step that BHVR doesn't want to take because they are obligated to follow that small step with gigantic steps towards Balancing the game, creating a REAL Competitive scene, Balancing Perks, Balancing base kit of the vast majority of killers.

I doubt BHVR wants or has the people that can do this. I'm pretty sure they won't follow through with MMR and i'm a 1 trillion % confident they won't follow throught with making the game Balanced if they set MMR in stone. They'd rather have the game be casual and have no talks of Balance than actually have to fix the game. We're 5 years into DbD and the game has never been optimized or Balanced. There's bugs in every department, visual glitches and bugs, sound glitches and bugs, there's unbalance in the core of the game.

When the new mmr rolls out, you´ll have some adaption phase and from there you should get regularly matched against opponents of your skill level. Which should be fun.

Unless you only want to be matched against easier targets in order to stomp them.

You're forgetting there's not enough killers in general and killers that satisfy the high MMR SWF's or SoloQ, the system will innevitably have to pick lower MMR killers for those lobbies to keep queue times reasonably short, wich means match fairness is thrown out of the window. There's no adaptation phase. Equally matched people will make the game harder for everyone, especially killer because it's a 4v1. Nobody wants easy wins, it's the game that doesn't know how to balance killer role for the 4v1 game.

MMR is good BUT will expose how weak killer role is but BHVR won't Rebalance the game, they havent in 5 years and it's not now that they will start doing that.

  • In terms of SWF vs SoloQ i can understand the arguments but i don't think making SoloQ stronger akin to SWF's is the way to go. BHVR would have to Rebalance the entire game from ground up to give killers a chance and we're 5 years in and the game has never been Balanced. MMR tests clearly show that at high level MMR SoloQ is comparable to SWF because you're talking about Survivor players with enough experience and understanding of the game. Those guys don't even need to be an SWF. At high MMR Survivors dominate the game, there's very little killers can do besides gen regression builds and heavy slugging. You can't have a chance at winning as killer by playing NICE. We can't have all the things, we can't buff SoloQ, we can't have MMR and we can't have killers not being sweaty. Plus with MMR if there isn't a close enough MMR for killer then the system has to pick a weaker killer so the lobby is setup so you're already facing high MMR survivors against weaker killers, the system works but there's no enough killer players.

Buffing SoloQ makes killer weaker, MMR makes killer weak, SWF makes killer weak. Clearly the fundamentals of the game are broken in Survivor's favor. The only reason killers can 3k or 4k now is because Matchmaking is including Potato Survivors in the matches so killers can creature pressure by hooking the weak links but if there are no weak links then the killer experience is horrible. The killer role is completly countered by Shift W, by Map design, by Spawns, by the 4v1 aspect, the game needs to be redesigned from the ground up if we wanna bring MMR or buff SoloQ

My preferered Solution is to first of make a goddamn proper Tutorial, cause what we have is Shift W + Gens, that's all Survivor and Tutorial teaches. Then make the Rank up process in the first 10 Ranks more difficult so people spend more time practicing and training and learning in the easy stages thus we diminishe the number of weak players in high ranks thus SoloQ after rank 10 is fixed, might make queues longer but at least SoloQ is fixed and since there's no Potatoes influencing high ranks you eliminate the need for SWF's aswell, so SoloQ is not plagued and doesn't need to rival SWF at all. All that is left is make the killer rolebetter by fixing Map design, survivor spawns and all that already mentioned.

  • Hell no! The current matchmaking being "broken" is what makes killer playable, if there weren't any potatoes to play against Killers matches will be sweat sweat sweat sweat. With MMR every killer is gonna suffer. Low skill killers who win against low skill survivors will have high MMR, because at low skill level Killer role is stronger, and face high skill survivors at high MMR and lose matches without getting a single hook, because after what we now call rank 10 the game gets massively survivor sided. MMR is awful when the game is broken AF. MMR only helps good survivors that's it, it doesn't help killers, good or bad, or bad survivors. For MMR to be implemented the game has to be rethinked and redesigned from the ground up. The game is massively, hugely, unmeasurably broken. Maps need to be FIXED and not VISUALLY UPDATED, Breakable WALLS need to get thrown in the bin, Map size needs to be reduced, Map spawns need to be changed, Totem spawns need to be changed.

If keeping MMR means we FIX the game then sure but not only is BHVR imcapable of balancing or FIXing the game, they are also taking way too long to even do MMR to expose how broken the game is, if there's any more need to expose that, and they clearly have no desire to do so.

  • There shouldn't be any RNG, RNG is there so BHVR doesn't have to fix maps and have map knowledge as a skill. Instead of maps being balanced BHVR will just say" too bad you got bad rng".

  • Because the game is horrible at teaching players how to play. The game tells you shift W and gens and that's it. There's no way for you to know how to play against specific killers untill you go live and learn from experience of you search for that information.

This Matchmaking looks more fair than the "old" Matchmaking were Ranks are used.

You play a quite strong Killer with 4 Perks, all teachable from other Killers and run two very strong Add Ons (All Seeing and Swift Hunt). It would be less fair to pair you against Rank 17-Survivors who are actually new to the game.

Assuming someone runs the same build for all matches that isn't enough for the game to say oh this is a strong build ok you face the best survivors. That's wrong. It's not taking into account individual player skill. Imagine if you ran nothing and still won? Then who are you facing? I run a worse build than the one from Post and faced incredibly strong players, just 2 of the ones i faced had 7k hours just those 2 alone... If my build, on the same killer, is worse than why am i facing those people aswell?

Keep in my mind i have 51 hours on PC, i'm a console player. So it's not the builds, it's not the playtime, it's how you do in the matches you had. More specifically kills vs escapes, and for each individual killer. I climbed all the way to rank 1 on PC very easily because obviously i have experience with the game on console, not that much, about 270 hours on PS4/5, but i only have base game on PC, i have 2 DLC perks, Surge and Corrupt from Shrine. I didn't face people with base game like me, i faced SWF's constantly with Meta Perks. The system does not work well. I got matched with those people because i climbed to rank 1 fast, i won most matches on PC, getting lots of sacrifices. Yeah i was playing the majority of times against low skilled to semi decent players and i won and that catapulted my MMR for the test. I have so little on PC yet i was put against people with so much more. That isn't balanced, that proves the system is wrong in judging players, it's only counting kills vs escapes, since i have alot of kills with Wraith on PC i had high MMR on PC.

You can go ahead and say i'm mediocre killer and i only faced mediocre survivors aswell and can't handle SWF's or good survivors and that's fine, i know i don't, facing SWF's and sweating isn't something i want either way, i really don't play that much Dbd as evidenced by the hours i have on it but that doesn't excuse the fact that the system didn't take any of that into account in MMR.

Conclusion as long as you win your MMR will go up till you face something you can't win. Doesn't matter if you killed noobs or "pros" it matters you killed...That's just really bad. And since every killer has individual MMR then you're constantly changing your killer MMR, you will never have a consistant skill level in your matches. MMR solves nothing aside from Survivor's wich again is all BHVR does, they give and give and give to Survivors.
