Quite excited. Despite concerns about Boon totems being a bit OP and the fact that there are so many changes (meaning so many more bugs), I haven't looked forward to an update this big in a while. Boon totems are very interesting so can't wait to try out those.
In fact the update is so big there's even going to be a few surprises for me since I haven't even checked out all the new/updated addons.
As long as boon totems dont overshadow the killer addon buffs...if boons end up overpowered then the killer buffs wont mean anything to balance the game.

There's something else going on with the matchmaking. The day before I was getting match making times of a few seconds. Since mmr day 1 my times have gone up to as high as 10 minutes and low as a few minutes.
Exactly and it is because of how high the base mmr for killer was adjusted.
Individual killer mmr is even more of a joke...it was like 200 points lower than your main killer. If it was survivor then it doesn't matter since survivors have the same base kill set.
Killers need practice if they want to get better with each killers individual power...I would even be fine with an offline bot mode to practice.

Instead of doing the camera pan around the killer at the start of the game, it should show a top down view of the map. cross sectioned if its indoor.
So you very swiftly have to choose your Hex location before the game actually starts, it'll show your 5 totem locations, and you click to light them. If you have multiple, for balance purposes, you cannot choose or know which hex is being placed.
If you decide not to choose your locations, they'll be decided at random obviously.
That is an awesome idea...wonder how hard it is to implement π
-
@GoshJosh said:
It wouldn't work from a balance perspective. Killers would just choose the most obscure placements for their hexes, except for ones they would want destroyed.
I mean boon totems are pretty much the same π€

@Nick said:
You don't have time to do that, so your totems won't work right from the start and you have to waste time finding a good totem. Maybe if there was an early game collapse where you could place your own totems?
I was going to say while corrupt intervention was up as a tradeoff to being able to place the haces...but you have a better ideaπ

I am not a survivor main but I used to play 70/30 a few years ago. I currently play both roles equaly.
Why? I dont know to be honest, i just enjoy playing killer as much as i enjoy playing survivor.
That's good not many people do that...feel like you only play half the game if you dont at least try the other sideπ€£

All changes are good besides slinger. Removing quickscoping killed any appeal I had for him. I have almost no hope that devs will rethink this change, so RIP Slinger.

But if killers were leaving the game in significant numbers, their queues would surely still be short regardless of SBMM. Low MMR survivors would have extremely long queues if what you're saying is true but I haven't seen anything to suggest that that's the case.
Not really...sbmm is supposed to match you up with "fair" matches...I am sure there are plenty of low mmr killers.
There aren't enough high mmr survivors playing...the end result is waiting a long time in the lobby and then just placing the killer in the first available match after a while.
It pretty much negates the whole sbmm process. That is why I was wondering if it was being reexamined.

From about March 2021-September 2021. I remember why; the games are boring. The new meta puts me to sleep, every match plays the same way, it turned the game into the type of game I actively avoid because it has no variety. I only play now for friends, can still run 95% of killers because the point when I got the game taught me how to do so, combine that with the new meta making killers lazy on learning chases and it becomes a 3, 4, 5 gen run, we get out, rinse, wash, repeat.
The new meta killed the game, the focus on slow-down is boring, everyone runs the same 3 perks with a random bonus perk, makes the games just unenjoyable. Sheep build killed the game, literally puts me to sleep almost any time I play it.
So are you just waiting for the new patch? Maybe the killer updates or the boon totem mechanics will bring you back.

Yeah, yeah I am. You think I'd have learned, but Steam doesn't seem to have issues like that anymore--so I've been sticking with it and getting all my achievements back.
Nice as long as you get to play and are happyπ

@legacycolt said:
I think as long as trying to find a match as killer takes long, there should be enough killers playing. Also finding a match as survivor tales like 15 seconds..
There is enough killer players. Itβs just this forum with a bunch of people complaining.
@xenotimebong said:
Wouldn't long killer queues suggest that the shortage is on the survivor side, not killer?
Actually the reason killer lobbies are so long is because of sbmm.
With killers pretty much leveling up regardless of what they do, they are forced to wait for high sbmm survivors.

I did when I first got the game. I thought survivor was too hard and got frustrated with all the dying. Then I played killer and realized how wrong I was. So now I play survivor until I get bored and dabble in killer just enough to remember the stress that it induces and go back to survivor.
This is my dbd story almost to the letterπ .
My first survivor was bill (big left 4 dead fan) and then ace (I thought the luck stat would help in all skill checks or something...little did I know π ).
Then trapper looked fun and I would dabble with all the other killers but always come back to the strategist.
It is slowly getting better for killers but yeah to many sweaty games makes me hesitate playing killer for to long now.

Boon nerfs. Make them one time use like hexes and make them not stack and to compensate, make them quieter and reduce the Audio Range for Killers.
For Deathslinger, instead of nerfing the skillful thing (quickscope) and keeping the unskillful (press M2 to zone), reverse it.
ADS is instant (like in live currently) and increased the wind down from 0.6 seconds to 1.2 seconds.
I think boon totems are going to stay untouched until at least a good week or so and then the backlash will make the developers nerf themπ

More survivors need to be like you. Instead of screaming for nerfs you played the other side to improve. I salute you.
That was how I began as well...pretty much the same story. Playing killer gives you so much more perspective. Now i play more survivor since the mmr changes (about 70 to 30 split).
Have you gone back to try survivor again? Use that knowledge you have gained π

Scott is a Demo main, does surv, and generally has decent videos
Coconuts for Huntress + Generally good tips
LillithOmen for Blight
CMWinter for Pig

Thanks for the suggestions π yeah I started with otz dowsey and monto because they always played with a variety of builds and killers.

There are not that many i know, here is a small list
KnightLight
XenoDbD
Fingergunsz
(they are so way above True's skilllevel that they acutally troll him and win without any effort)
Zubatlel
Ayrun
(both much more skilled then True with every killer and also survivor, dont know if they are actually very high mmr but definilty way above average)
CoconutRTS is a good Huntress and a decent killer in general, probably high or at least close to MMR.
SuperAlf and every other 5K+ hours Nurse main.
Thanks for all of the suggestions π

I think you're reading too much into the McDonald's wifi statement. No one actually plays multiplayer games on the wifi you get at fast food places or stores or busses (at least I hope), they're poor quality because they all have 50+ people using them at once as well as being wifi.
Also maybe it varies by country but in mine you get McDonalds everywhere. More in low-income areas but still plenty inΒ more bourgie places.
I realize that but it is still used as a derogatory insult in any manner...juat as easy to say "your internet is bad"or "your internet is trash" right?

It's not that he's bad, but they ruined the fun aspect of playing the killer and a lot of people are not happy about it. Think reworked Billy. Billy is still technically a solid killer, but no one plays him because he just isn't fun to play and the game has 25 killers so a single killer being unfun to play just means people will jump ship.
He also wasn't over performing in anyway either so the nerf wasn't really warranted either.
That is sad to hear...well there goes more killer variety π

The plauge infection rate add-ons seem funk ATM so hopefully some bug fixes or text clarification to make sense of how the add-ons are working
3 blink nurse seems fine until recharge addons are used rip
Spirits new killer instinct addon is straight busted pls nerf make it so survivors that she phase walks near scream instead. Right now this addon kills the counter play her nerfs created just seems dumb. Either leave her as is or commit to the nerfing
Hope deathslinger nerfs are reduced he just feels bad to play ATM
Wonder if the spirit backlash led to the addon.
Plague feels smoother to play but didn't mess around with her addons.

That's another thing: from what I've seen, the devs don't take the trials as seriously as some other players, so even if they had, they wouldn't have cared and likely forgot about it.
So they had no way off testing if high sbmm was considered fair?π€

I feel like it would be racist to explain why he thinks it is racist.
Yeah it is all in context.
The McDonalds wifi comment can be used to dehumanize low income neighborhoods (where most minorities were grouped).
@ohheyitsbobcat said:
"You people" I get though it depends on context, "this one" being less bad but maybe needing context.
In what world though is "McDonald Wifi" a racial thing? I've only ever heard that used as a way to describe someone with really awful internet. Even googling it I only get a few articles about some dude who worked there who said a bad word.
I'd really like a deeper explanation on that one.
The you people and this one comment is racial in using it as a way to dehumanize...not going to use your name but grouping you all together because of a trait(skin color in this case).
Obviously with context and in tone when it is spoken.
