Pentimento, Ruin, Thrill is good, but you're basing your whole build on Pentimento, which can be unreliable.

Ruin, Undying, Pentimento is still good, but more reliable

Penti and two hexes is pretty reliable. You'd be surprised.

    Title.

For me, it'd have to be Hex: Pentimento. I recently decided to use it together with Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying and holy.

It puts Survivors in a big lose/lose scenario. Either deal with Hex: Ruin, which is a pain on Artist, or go out of your way to cleanse 2 Totems, only for them to become Rekindled Totems and now you repairing and healing 30% slower.

It doesn't last the whole Trial, as they're Hex Perks, but for the time they're active, the game's on halt

You're sleeping On Penti + Ruin + Thrill combo. Thrill of the hunt with penti and another strong hex is amazing. Boons are almost shut down while you have thrill up and they have the chance to break thrill instead of ruin after spending 2 years cleansing.

But if they break ruin, you can put up penti and it will take 6 years to cleanse it.

  • @Peanits said:

Can they? Yes, of course. Originally they all shared the same rating.

Should they, that's a far more loaded question. Someone who's good with a Killer like The Legion won't naturally be good with The Nurse. They play completely differently, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to use the same rating. They're separated so you can pick up a new Killer and learn them without facing the tough opponents you usually do. Even if your first few matches are a bit rough, you'll quickly settle into a place where you're somewhat comfortable with that new Killer. As a bonus, this also means that doing poorly with a new Killer won't tank your rating on others, leading to you being matched against new players on a Killer that you've mastered.

But back when they all shared the same rating, it became very punishing to try something new, so we ended up splitting the ratings.

Here's a suggestion: Y'all implemented new diffuculties,if a killer is very different, make their MMR separate so you can learn them.

I've always seen the reason that it builds up so much is to give the players a chance to cool off.

For sure, we don't want games ruined by players leaving mid match - when you ready up in the lobby you are committing to playing that match.

Half of my long DC penalties is the server just suddenly DCing me for no reaason, which your support "has been looking into" and "can't tell anything about" for the past 8 months. Or hackers. Sorry I dont feel like being held hostage.

I dont agre with lowering penalties on fun,but my experience sucked a fuckton.

I believe those perks do count for the achievement as long as you don't own Demo.

So if you own Demo them not counting is intentional behavior?

It feel like I'm experiencing more & more subtle game hacks in this game on a daily basis. The two main hacks I'm constantly experiencing are subtle movement speed & teleport/vanish/invisibility after M1, particularly when they line of sight at a corner or rock etc.

I'm no pro at survivor, but have played it enough to know it's limitations with regards to how fast a killer can catch you. I sometimes don't break chase on purpose just to see how long it takes to catch someone that's not even good at looping and you can literally chase them around the whole map & gain little to no ground on them even in t3 bloodlust.

I've looked at multiple videos and there's so many different hacks for this game it's unbelievable. The worst thing is that there's also so many hacks that you can't see and would never notice as a killer. Extra passive perks, wall hacks, no skill check hacks, increased gen/cleansing speed.

I feel at this stage the game is so compromised that you really don't know if you're facing at least 1 hacker every other game. When you combine this with all the other problems this game has at the moment it really puts a downer on playing killer.

I guess I'm ready for an extended break from DBD & will maybe check it out in a few months again & see if there's any positive changes in the gameplay.

I've experienced a GIANT surge in hackers. Now I am experiencing less blatant ones, but people with 10 perks are on the rise.

this game doesnt actually run in fullscreen, just borderless. there was a fix but it seems that it stopped working 2 years ago according to some reddit threads. does anyone have a solution?

    https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/enkh1w/exclusive_fullscreen_fix_stopped_working/fqogson/

this is what im talking about.

also, are there any other optimizations, like making steam run less processes in the background while you're playing dbd? there were so many with the same name but once i terminated them the game kicked me out of the next match after a few seconds.

i also tried setting dbd's priority on high from task manager but it wont let me change it.

at the very least, is there any way that i can further downgrade the graphics than the game allows? not from the game options of course. they're already on lowest. i disabled antialiasing and everything.

i've also tried setting the framerate cap to 30 from the ini file but it still goes up to 60 in game.

    -dx12 is a common thing.

As for the priority! Here's a pro-tip: google how to change a process' default priority in windows via the registry, than apply that to DBD's executable. That's how I do it. If you want to cap the game at 30FPS,you could do that through NVIDIA's control panel If you have one of their cards,if you have an AMD/INTEL one I assume they would have similar features.

Also I'd just run this game in windowed anyway. Throw on lossless scaling (https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/) with FSR and you can get pretty close to the original quality at a slightly lower tax to your GPU. (Do keep in mind that you should only ever have FSR upscale your resolution 1,1 or 1,3 times higher, ineffective otherwise)

Running the game in windowed can be done with -WINDOWED -resX=1920 -resY=1080 (change out resolutions as you wish)

  • Agreed. We should revert her to the oldest version - not present in the game.

  • BHVR,where is the killswitch?

  • @Barbarossa2020 said:

The QoL improvements might be better for existing players.

But "new stuff" patches make money.

They have to balance between them, for dbd to be profitable long-term it has to make money, it's not a subscription service, so once you've bought the game you can choose not to pay any more and still receive a service. Therefore they make no money, unless you buy something "new"

I've ticked over 700 hours or play time, and i've probably spent $40 aussie dollars on dbd. Pretty good value for money.

Have you perhaps missed this part of my post:

Like you could even make a community goal of "buy more auric cells" or whatever to support them through doing a bunch of health-focused chapters.

Or even then, more health chapters would make this game more sustainable in the long-term,leading to more profits.

    • Killer SBMM being kills is mostly fine. Every killer has their own MMR, so if a killer sucks, that killer's MMR should stabilize where they can get a 1 kill for every 2 survivors they face on average. So in your example, you'll probably see a lot more Nurse at very high MMRs than Trapper.
    • For survivors...the system should be more nuanced, but it's tricky. The game is played very differently at lower MMRs to higher MMRs, and I'd worry about creating 'MMR hell' zones accidently by doing this. Escapes is certainly an oversimplification, but it might by the best that can be reasonably done.

    • You're missing my point in general. Let's say for example, someone plays Huntress (pre-4.6.0 where iri head didn't get nerfed for simplicity's sake). If one Huntress uses infantry + Iri head and gets a 1k and an empty loadout huntress get a 1k,should that be the same MMR gain/loss?
  • I'd worry about creating 'MMR hell' zones accidently by doing this

I'm already in one as survivor personally.

    • I've got maybe slightly less than half your hours, and I've found SBMM overall to be a pretty okay system, at least compared to ranks. From round to round, I've had a far more even experience - much closer games all round, win or lose.

For me what happened is I went into hell as survivor and my killer matches were practically just all 3K+ hour squads as Killer, which honestly sucked a lot of enjoyment out of it.

  • totally disagree with combining everyone with 1k hours into one queue. I know I'm closing in on 1k, and when I'll get there I'll be far less experienced than someone with 8k.

Yes,but at that point, you're going to have way too few players to do active matchmaking tbh.

  • Playing as Freddy or against makes me fall asleep and unfortunately that's not the mechanic in-game.

I would honestly be right now more happy about "DH nerfed, this weak killers buffed, this OP addon nerfed, map offerings gone, etc." WAY more than "oh look Its the new teaser!! Who it will be this time?"

I'd rather see current killer powers be changed tbh than to see a new one

  • @gentacle said:

None of the midchapter stuff really does anything for me personally. My twins keep getting nerfed. Mid-tier killers like pinhead get nerfed. Nemesis' addons that made him almost function correctly got nerfed because too many people were using them.

Chapters are supposed to bring people into the game and mid-chapters are supposed to get us to stay yet that doesn't seem to be happening ya know?

Pinhead's addons were overtuned. Also how do 2 weird nerfs to some addons on unpopular killers change the fact that 5.3.0 and 5.7.0 are amazing midchapters overall? 98% of the changes in them are amazing.

  • @ElmosPayPig said:

Mid chapters are only exciting if they are like Mcleans swan song midchapter he worked on before he quit back in nov or so.

That one had a bunch of perk tweeks and addon tweeks.

More perks need just numbers tweeks every midchapter, because right now all the mid chapters feel like a waste of time and don't really breathe any life into the game.

5.7.0 is pretty exciting! It reminds me of 5.3.0.

I've read in an article that the creation of artist dlc took 217 days of work and 100 devs working on it.

And nowdays almost none plays her

They should stop from releasing content for a bit and try to balance a bit the game.

I'd be far more excited for new content if the underlying game was more enjoyable! They really should do a long-term investment

  • @Brokenbones said:

They're more exciting because they have the potential to change multiple types of content at once

Buffs, Nerfs, Mechanic changes and tweaks, QOL and the occassional map rework. It's refreshing because it's changing content that might've gotten stagnant whereas newer content people seem to get bored with it quicker until it settles in and stops being the 'new thing' so to speak

They are the closest thing we have to 'health' chapters.

    Yeah,exactly.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

I honestly disagree... I just enjoy the licensed killers. I guess the Artist mid chapter was better, but that is only because Artist was not really as great as our YouTube friends had hoped.

As much as new content is cool, when the meta and the current gameplay loop is getting so,god damn boring and frustrating,I'll take more mid-chapters over this any time. Maybe it'll allow the devs to spend more time optimizing this game too.

I must admit I like the idea of character portraits instead of names + Grade, I'm awful at remembering names in general and would find it a lot easier to see who was who in the match if character portraits were included.

    Do it!

I don't think Teachable Perks should be made base-kit, but the Perks I'd like to see would be Borrowed Time and Hex: No One Escapes Death

    BT is a teacheable though...

I'd be down only for the totem counter, not the notification.

  • Ah,teacheables only? Whatever,I think those 4 still should be basekit.

  • Corrupt,Borrowed Time and personally Fire Up & No One Left Behind.

Corrupt and BT help out the killer and survivor to prevent really boring outcomes - tunneling and 14 gens popping across the map.

Now,Fire Up & No One Left Behind are my little gimicks - I'd love to see the killer powering up in desparation as more gens are done and I think the hope of the gates being opened should re-animate survivors' wills to go and rescue all of their friends.

You can't derank, that is true, but you CAN depip. ex. You CANNOT depip from Silver 4 to Bronze 1, but you CAN depip from Silver 1 all the way down to Silver 4. Depipping is still a thing, they just made it less of an issue, but still an issue regardless, as you can still lose potential bloodpoint rewards from the rank reset; that's the annoying part.

Incorrect. You can drop from Silver 4 to Silver 4 with no pips.

You cannot drop any further than you current grade.

  • @PerfectlyPink said:

I am genuinely curious as to what makes dbd so hardware intensive. Specifically for last gen console; why does the fan blow like crazy and the frame rate drop so frequently?

Seriously, what causes it to happen? What makes it possible for Horizon Forbidden West on ps4 to run more smoothly than dbd?

Of course it's not just dbd, there are plenty of games that run worse than they should. I'm just more interested in dbd's case since it's been around for 6 years noe

    Spaghetti code. That's it.

Honestly I haven't noticed much more outside of getting more bodyblockers today.

To everyone saying get rid of grades, would you want to see your mmr at all? Actually have it visible?

The grades are an okay showcase of skill early into the grade reset, but the longer the season goes on with you not being able to lose a grade,it's extremely misleading and too many people think of them as skill.

It's a good idea to get rid of them and maybe replace them with portraits.

  • @Peanits said:

I can confirm that it's part of the matchmaking tests, not a bug. As for what else changed today, that will remain a mystery until later on.

Benedicts journal is the original lore drops, from when the game started and he'd describe killers, the entity etc. He's pretty much forgotten and retconned at this point, but I've heard a few people suggest he's the observer

he's most definitely not. Baker was a survivor, light on his feet, abandoning his notes eventually...

the observer had the Auris(? idr the name) for a while and has always been in prison, not in trials

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/316458/is-there-a-potential-possibility-to-a-survivor-or-killer-to-switch-roles

there's an entry in one of the first tomes that mentions survivors killing other survivors who have gone mad. specifically it says someone realized he was stuck in this neverending nightmare and he went crazy and started screaming and the others had to "shut him up" by drowning him in a puddle to avoid being found by the killer.

this doesnt stop them from their role of survivors though. i think the intention behind the action is what makes you a killer, and that's something they did specifically to survive and not with malice of heart... well not exactly.

anyway it's kind of a weird entry because the devs said that they get memory wiped after every trial, so idk. maybe it was subtly retconned.

they start to piece things together, clearly? like look at benedict's journal, they clearly grow aware eventually if they're smart

  • @Mooks said:

I think especially in the beginning it has been hinted at or outright stated that survivors can become killers. And Blight is actually said to be one, as he was a survivor that experimented on other killers with the blight serum and eventually ended up getting addicted to that serum and being turned into a monster controlled by the Entity. Not sure on the exact lore though.

I remember him being more on the outskirts, running through the fog, encountering beasts (killers) and then using the blight serum a bunch, later on I think he was trapped in the void, where all the survivors and etc. are discarded after they're of no use and tried to escape like Vigo, but failed, ending up under Entity's control as he begged for "just one more flower"

  • Dead Hard is perfectly fine if they make it's validation not eat up your lunges/killer powers. (Basically make you actually continue to lunge and not stop you dead in your tracks)

  • The hit validation on pallets? Defo f@cked. Pulling pallets down? Something that took me 500h to figure out, sprinting into the pallet makes it super jank and can only allow you to pull it down when it's fully behind you,so you'll have to stop in your tracks or walk for it to be reliable.

If a survivor gets chased during 5 gens and has no air to do anything else. Then sure. He´ll hit the 8k point limit and thats it. Never claimed something else.

BUT you don´t need to get chased a lot as survivor to earn 24k bloodpoints. Boons will earn you 1500 per blessing. Repeat this a couple of times and you´ll hit the 8k limit without ever seeing the killer. Now add some gen action and some unhooks/heals and you have earned yourself 24k bloodpoints without escaping. Healing yourself with our favorite boon, will also net you 300 bloodpoints per heal towards the survival category (the hardest one to max out).

So where was i wrong again?

I think those challenges we had in the past, where we were supposed to repair 1 gen + get 1 unhook + cleanse 1 totem. Tried to show people that are so adamant, that survivors earn less bloodpoints than killers, that doing something else than 1 thing will earn you nice points.

Oh and on top of that, since you said the killer is tunneling a survivor for 5 gens. Well guess what, the killer will barely get more points than the tunneled survivor and everyone else will leave with more points than the killer.

"arned yourself 24k bloodpoints without escaping." Except there's no time to do that and escape in half the trials. And people, you know, like winning. Even if the winnning condition is as silly as simply escaping. Ask any creator, any player with thousands of hours in the game and they'll tell you killer BP gain is better... I won't even start that you can bring BBQ and chili to just outpace survivor BP gain even further...

Stop trying to make a controversial take for the sake of making one,it's just wrong lmao
