@oxygen exactly my thought!

@PolarBear said:
It's just irritating to look for totems on swamp due to the humongous map size and simply because the totems can spawn on almost any of the outer edge tiles as well as the tiles in the middle of the map.
@PolarBear that’s the point. You shouldn’t be able to find it too easily. Swamp works well.
-
Yes, swamp and lery’s. They also work well with regards to totems

As a survivor, I can briefly see other survivors before it cancels me out. As killer, it doesn’t seem to even create a lobby.
-
Yes.... it started hapoening just now!

ok the fact that it appeared as bad word might take away from its meaning - i meant take your own life not uhhhh * bad wording yourself *
Hahaha I read this as BAD WORD as ######### which gives it a very special meaning...

Oh, I see where you're coming from, but it's not like the situation you're prescribing me. Whenever a survivor is hooked, I will work on a generator until they are almost to their next hook state.
However, it was more risky because it came down to literal seconds to losing 2 hook states in a single hook. However, I'm not blaming the guy, I remembered when I incorrectly saved someone, and it went really bad. :(
@NMCKE Isn’t it better if you get that extra manpower back as soon as possible? If it’s a safe situation I want to get that person back on a gen asap. Unless the gen I’m working on is nearly finished.

@My_Dude If I could give more than one upvote I would!

Hey man! I play both PC and Ps4 as well. Killer is much much harder than survivor on console, so try to play PC if you can. Anyways, I've gotten so much helpful advice from this community on how to regain a sense of "fun" in the game, I'll try to sum them up here:
- Ignore the emblems/pips/rank and only play for fun.
- Facing a very good team? You just entered ultra hard-mode. You will learn some really cool jukes and moves that you can use in the next survivor game. Don't lobby dodge!
- Play around with different builds. set up goals tied to those builds. How many survivors can you grab with scratched-mirror Myers?
- Watch some neat killer guides and try out new moves. I promise there's loads of stuff that you haven't thought of.
- Which kind of games makes you happy? Try to recreate them.
- Still not enjoying yourself? Take a break
If you want to become better:
- Find your killer and master him/her
- Do not fear good survivors - they are your best teachers!
- Learn how to break loops (depends on your killer). There are tons of tutorials out there.
- Learn your distances. When should you lunge and when should you not? Where's your terror radius?
- Try to anticipate moves and plays. In chases, what's the most logical move as survivor?
Hope this helps. Also, I've had some good fun with Clown and Spirit.

@kamisen Even if a killer intentionally tunnels, it's in most cases not from ill intent. It's just for tactical reasons and not to bully survivors.
@NoShinyPony Sure. I'm not saying otherwise, in fact, I'm saying the exact same thing in my post, no? But from a survivor's POV it can look like it.

@Rydog said:
Speak of the devil, I had a group that I just had to give this lecture to. People think you have to start playing like an idiot and give them a free unhook instead of looking for you when they know you're right there by the hook, waiting for you to leave. Swear to god, some people...
@Rydog Yes, the good ol' post-game chat. It's like a very small filter-bubble. It's camping in their eyes, and there are several persons reinforcing that idea. Very hard to have a constructive discussion in that climate.
-
@NoShinyPony said:
@kamisen Glad you see it that way. But then what's the point of this thread? Survivors should not harass the killer, no matter if the killer camps, tunnels or plays generously.
@NoShinyPony Glad that you asked! The point is two-fold (maybe three-fold if you stretch it). First and foremost, I want to shed light on situations that, from a survivor's POV, can seem to stem from ill intent, when in fact, it doesn't. In other words, I want to nuance a discussion that so often is treated as black or white. The second point is to engage in said discussion. Where do we draw the line between camping/not camping and tunneling/not tunneling? Does everybody agree with my bullets, or does anybody disagree? The third (very lowkey shhh) is to find comfort amongst individuals who are as
addictedattached to the game as I am, when feeling a pang of sadness due to bad encounters with other players. Makes sense? -
@NoShinyPony said:
To be clear: If a killer indeed does tunnel, camp etc., then from your point of view it would be justified that the survivors would harass the killer?
@NoShinyPony I see what you're getting at :-) Bad phrasing on my part. I obviously don't think any behavior justifies harassment or witch hunts.

@Madjura said:
Some people will cry literally always because their precious fee-fees were hurt by losing
Survivors complained about my add-ons, so I didn't use any
Survivors then complained about my perks, so I didn't use any
Survivors then complained about the killer I picked, so I picked (pre-rework) Freddy
Survivors then complained about tunneling and camping, so every time I hooked someone I ran to the opposite side of the map and never hooked the same survivor twice in a row
Then I killed only 3 instead of 4 people: "GG EZ BABY KILLER UNINSTALL TRASH"
@Madjura This hits close to home...

@Ember_Hunter I like it. You would definitely heal against a spirit...
-
We tested it and you DO NOT hear whispers as survivor. Must've been some ambiance sound.
-
@LordGlint accepted it!

@White_Owl It was a Freddy!

Edit.

@LordGlint let's do it!

@LordGlint Both PC and PS4.
@Volfawott The last map I played when I heard it was coldwind farm. Not near the cow-tree.

I think this is a very important subject to discuss. I have made some suggestions in the past that may help reduce the toxicity:
- Filters in the post-game chat. Why this isn't implemented yet is beyond me.
- Readily available rules about in-game communication. Why not use bots as Twitch does?
- Temporary/permanent communication bans (i.e. you can play the game but not use the chat.
@kamisen said:
I think the forum rules regarding social behavior is great! It's clear, concise and straight to the point. Could you please apply a similar framework to the post-game chat? I think more readily available information on the guidelines of communication in addition to some profanity filter would go a long way.
A suggestion is to ban the player from using the chat for a period of time as a first measure.
@kamisen said:
I’m missing some basic features that would make life so much easier. In light of the dedicated servers being just around the corner, how about some simple love for the chat? Here’s what I’ve got:
- Add an online-status - It would be lovely to see who is hanging around and who has left. Doesn’t need to be a fancy pancy operation, a simple text message like <XXX has left the server> would suffice.
- Add an indication if someone is typing. That way we can hang around if we see someone is trying to communicate.
- Add a profanity filter - send warnings to those who are breaking the rules automatically. Maybe use bots like Twitch?
- Sometimes I want to leave happy little messages when I have died, however in it’s current state, the players doesn’t see messages left before they finished the game. How about having messages stay even or maybe just a GG symbol to use?
What do you guys think?

@Ember_Hunter said:
You are also dead when everyone else is on a generator :( (Happened to me twice, I even had Kindred. Once, my swf teammate one game almost saved me but got hooked, this Ace did a generator above me as I died first hook and Meg sandbagged my teammate and said that no one saved me. So why not you save?)
@Ember_Hunter It has happened to me too. Its a very weird priority to do a gen instead of saving
-
@Kiskashi said:
You know you’re dead when you’re on first hook and/or no one comes until second phase and then as some timid teammate crouch walks towards you (without urban) and hides nearby another teammate runs past with the killer and loops near you and them scaring away your only chance at life.
Ah yes, the good ol’ combination of bad decisions!

TL DR; You know you are dead when you are in green ranks and below.
@ABannedCat I wish ⭐️

It is a bit sad. Thankfully, they seem to have something else up their sleeve! Case by case basis sounds to me like it has to do with the size of the SWF-team...
-
@sulaiman I wouldn’t think so, no. First, the matching system does not match according to the lowest rank. With that being said, I don’t know how the matching system actually works. What I do know is when I play with my friends we tend to get matched with a killer that is the average of our combined ranks. Ish. Second, I don’t think it was frustration that led to tunneling/camping (I’m guessing that’s the strategies you are referring to). The camping/tunneling would occur regardless of the state of the game (easy chase, no gens done and so on). But these are only speculations of course.
Regardless, I don’t think it matters. The players still decided to leave. Their experience is their reality, if you will.
-
I think this is a nice small-scale study @NMCKE! As some have mentioned, there are some problems with your population. Ideally, you would need a nice spread among all ranks and from different regions to ensure unbiased data. I understand from your post that you didn’t like to camp, so I understand why your sample is so small. What you did find, bias or not, is that there may be more to it than ”just doing gen”.

@FrenziedRoach This is a fantastic idea... even two tiers would be a huge improvement. Upvote for you!

I mean... I wouldn't say no to this :-)

I couldn't agree more. The chase music is way too loud in comparison to other sounds.

@sulaiman said:
Just out of curiosity, did you play the kyf mode with your friends? Because this way, you could regulate camping and tunneling in your circle of friends. If you didnt, why not? Was noone out of 15 people intrested in playing killer?
Or was killer too weak and frustrating to play against a swf time and again?
@sulaiman We did with some of them. It varied in terms of quality game-wise. Biggest problem was that (a) it didn't net any BP and (b) the ones interested in playing killer didn't match the level of those who wanted to play survivor.
-
I think maybe it should be a case by case ban.
I had this dude yesterday who were sending threats about ######### and so on. He said he was going to retrieve my exact location by my IP-address. He continued on and gave me specifics such as time and date.
I don't think a 24 hour ban cuts it to be honest.

Not everyone has your issue. My issue is the oposite, there are not enough killers on ps4. So yeah some people dont like playing killer also because they feel survs are op.
@Shaped Why do you keep commenting on a thread if you're not gonna bother to read it?
Again: This is NOT a post about the player base, not a post about common issues and not thread about suggestions for improvement.
This is exclusively an informative post about new survivors' experience. Nothing more, nothing less.

@Shaped If you read my post before you commented you would have known that this isn't my feedback, but the POV of new players who decided to ditch the game.

Will this patch add more totem spawn points in other maps than Freddie's?

@My_Farewell As I said, this is feedback from new players who couldn't get into the game.
In general, the persons who browse the forums make up part of the player base who stuck around. We also provide interesting feedback, but maybe a different kind. :-)
