Again? DbD is more walking dead than Nemesis' zombies at this point..

Will you also give advice to someone who got tunnelled and camped to accept that they won't get an escape and also not just try as much?
Will you also give advice to survivors to run fun builds instead of meta stuff like Dead hard, prove thyself etc? Also for items, and not relying on comms?
If so, then fair, but you seem biased so far.
How do I seem biased?
I responded to someone saying no one is asking for a 4k every match by saying I've seen this happen and also said there are probably survivors expecting 4 escapes too. Even though I've not seen it here as its a predominantly killer sided forum from the experience I've had here.
There is literally no bias and plenty of balance. You seem like you're reaching to me.
Also, in response to the rest of your post: yes I would, because i value trying to have fun over 'winning'. I don't escape every match, nor do I expect to. I've even sacrificed myself to let others who played well/been tunnelled an escape and given killers who I feel played well but were matched against survivors who were better than them / unnecessarily toxic a win.
Again, please do point out the bias.

"Accept that you're going to lose and it's not in your control" is not a good advice.
No one is asking for 4k every game. People ask for fair game and fair results.
No one is asking for a 4k every game.
Oh, they are my friend. There are plenty of threads about it here where killers show their entitlement to 4ks. (I'm sure the same is true of survivors wanting 4 escapes but this is mainly a killer populated forum from my experience here). I've even seen a thread attacking perks because killers aren't getting their 4K fast enough. It does happen more than you'd think, unfortunately.

If showing you were survivors are repairing gens then by that standar spies of the shadows and discordance, even wispers is slowdown, and yes it does block gens that NO ONE is repairing so idk what it is slowing down exactly.
It's slowing down overall repair... because you can't get onto a gen that's blocked regardless of whether it's being actively repaired or not.
-
The OG DH nerf proved beyond all shadow of a doubt that any killer that wants to camp and tunnel will do so because its an easy playstyle for them.
For months it was a case of 'I have to camp and tunnel because 2/3 survivors have Dead Hard. If they nerfed it, I wouldnt need to' and the nerf hit and there were killers literally taking the line of 'lol I lied, I'm still gonna do it anyway cause it was easy and now it's even easier'.
They're never going to get rid of it without radically overhauling how the game works and they're not going to do that. So I don't see much point in them building updates round it personally.
-
I love the little dance we go through before, seemingly, every update here. We get some survivor nerfs which they aren't happy about. Killers make fun of them complaining, tell them to wait and give it time, let it go live etc. Then things don't go their way and they flood the forums whinging themselves. The irony is never lost on me given how killer sided this forum is most of the time.

No way you just did that - it's actually appalling. Speechless.
Guess the people who scream the loudest always get their way.
I'm camping/tunnelling from the first hook. I was maybe considering otherwise, but after seeing that they don't even have the balls to keep healing nerfs while at same time keep gutting anti-gen perks... hard to feel any remorse.
You were gonna camp and tunnel anyway, let's be honest.
(I'm joking)

Well, isnt that the case of Survivor HUD?
Dev wants to prune survivors playstyle to be as efficient as possible. Then the other side response is also playing with killing in efficiency too which means tunnel one out early.
Unfortunately, the HuD has has had low impact on efficient gameplay from my experience as a survivor main. I've lost count of the amount of times I've been the only survivor on a gen yet had to leave it to go and unhook. There are definitely some truths to the OP, but it is far too generic. As someone who considers myself a well rounded player, I am concerned about this update.
-
Spawning in and being able to see three generators from where you stand knowing its been designed for the killer to defend them incessantly from the off.
-
Hes so utterly unpleasant to play against. If I never had a match against him again it would be too soon.
-
I think people are already dropping out. Queues have been taking a lot longer this past week.
-
My issue is that BHVR haven't seemed to actually have listened to what people want in some ways (they're great at implementing accessibility - I personally love the press rather than hold feature and I'll certainly be using the visual TR option. I'm really glad to see that brought over from the Mobile version: look behind button next please). But rather, do something completely wildcard instead.
For example, as a survior main I have no issues with, nor have I seen any complaining about, Overcharge and CoB in their original state for some time now. Yes they allow fast regression but that's their Job and they now work fairly. The issue was the holy trinity of Erutption+CoB+Overcharge; it was the incapacitated effect that Eruption offered which made CoB and Overcharge feel oppressive because for the amount of time it took for the effect to wear off, the gen could have almost completely regressed from full. By nerfing Eruption, CoB and Overcharge got a nerf by proxy. They didn't need further nerfs, imo.
What did need addressing was the emerging 3 gen meta and surprise surprise there hasn't even been a whisper about that despite a clear and concerted effort on BHVRs part to make 3 gens spawn together on nearly every map that killers like Knight and Merchant can too easily defend from the off. The pretence of a 'gen rush' focus from this patch is not going to help fix that, btw.
Similarly CoH hasn't been nerfed; it's been completely changed to the point of it not being a viable perk anymore. Why bother with it when bringing in a medpack, which will be far easier with the bloodweb changes, plus built to last or We'll make it Will now be FAR more efficient? This isn't the win killers who dislike CoH think it is. Despite the popularity of CoH many killers get 8 hooks and 2-4 kills. Many killers here, the vast majority in fact, have mainly been calling for CoH to simply not stack with med packs, but rather than respond to that measured approach they went nuclear with it.
I would like to think this is a very balanced example of why some people respond negatively to these types of major meta shake ups.

I've never understood why people are so averse to passive information that you don't immediately act on. Knowing where survivors are is still useful to you even if you don't immediately go and chase them, it doesn't have to always be as straightforward as killer-see-killer-chase. There's wider macro knowledge to consider too.
Not that the aura read on Eruption is what makes it viable. 10% regression on multiple generators at once is still pretty solid, especially on mobile killers who can apply the mark quicker than others.
Especially as most people running Eruption are often running it with CoB and Overcharge too. It's never used alone. It's not powerful enough.
-
95% of time I'm hooked I can see at least two other hooks from where I am.
-
I'm finding an issue being the amount of drones she can use and how frequently personally. Every gen has a drone on it. Some of which automatically raise inexplicably so you can't deactivate them. As soon as you have deactivated one she can come back and pop another one right up. Drones are also being placed in areas where you cannot get to them in time before the expose you. Trapper, Pig and Hag do not have infinite traps to use, so why does SM? There needs to be some sort of proximity cooldown if they're going to stick with this I.e once a drone has been deactivated SM cannot place a drone that overlaps with the original radius for 'x' seconds. Despite all the complaints about her being weak I can see her being quite oppressive very quickly. She doesn't need chase ability when she can throw up so many drones which will inevitably leave people exposed and or unable to do much much because their location is revealed.

Here's a suggestion: If the killer is trying to force a three gen, break their three gen before it becomes a three gen.;
If you let them force a three gen you only have yourselves to blame.
Have you literally read anything at all? I honestly don't understand how people keep making these inane comments.
-
There has been a marked increase in the amount of gens that spawn ridiculously close together on nearly every map since the Knight released. The only one theyve done anything about is RPD because, at one point, they moved the gen on the main hall landing to at the bottom of the stairs and left the one that has always been downstairs in-situ making any escape near impossible for weeks and have now reverted it. But they're clearly pushing for this style of play.
-
Imo there is no such think as 'nerfing A tier perks to make them C tier' there is only so much nerfing you can do before the perk isn't itself anymore and even then it will still get used a lot.
What needs to happen is people lightening up and actually try to have fun with what they're doing, rather then getting so wound up when you don't win. Killers are still doing very well on the whole despite the likes of DH and CoH in play. The game is as balanced as its ever been.
I don't expect to win any of my matches, so its a nice surprise when I do and I genuinely enjoy the game.

(Hopefully) obvious sarcasm aside, I honestly think this is a much harder job than People think. Firstly, because it would already have been done if not and secondly because someone will always want more.

Making an entire feature redundant =/= a QoL improvement.

I've said this every time this comes up, and I'll continue to say it every time again. Allowing players to suicide/bleed out faster when slugged will not discourage slugging but rather incentivize it. The solution should be to discourage it.

the point of wiggling is to prevent getting put in the basement. not to escape a killer's grasp every time.
Perhaps that was the case when every hook that wasn't a basement hook could be perma-saboed. Thats not the case anymore and killer behaviours show that; namely, unless you go down near the basement hardly any killers bother to hook you down there anymore. Even then, they'll often even choose the inevitable exterior shack hook as it's quicker for them to get hunting again.
I've noticed a hell of a lot more killers managing to get you half way or more across the map to their chosen scourge hook with no issue since this change. Whilst I agree you shouldn't get off every time killers shouldn't be able to take their time and saunter round the map with flagrant disregard of repercussion either.

No, the issue is, that the new killers design aims at locking down a 3 gen. Which isn´t particuarly fun. Not for survivors, nor for killers.
Yes I'm starting to think the increase in some gens being ridiculously close together wasn't a bug after all - especially as they haven't acknowledged or fixed it yet, to my knowledge.
I had a match on fractured cowshed yesterday with one gen in a cluster of items close to one of the small hills , one by the slope of the hill and one just outside the shack (right next to the hill). It's a good job the killer was overly dedicated to chases because if they'd realised how easy that area was we would never have got anything done.
Even 2 gens are getting overbearing in some ways. I had a match recently on Yamaoka Estate - Main residence with Legion. One gen was in the middle of the map, one was in the far corner of the map (it tool about 10 seconds to run between the two as survivor). There were three of us left with 2 gens and it took us about 15 minutes to get one of them done because she had call of brine and with the time taken to mend/heal a lot of progress is lost - even then that was with me getting bored and overcomitting because I knew I had Adrenaline. But this shouldn't be a situation where 2/3 genning is possible imo. We spread out the gens we did. We were all trying to spread out and do the final two gens. I'm fully supportive of poor planning 3 gens, but there definitely seems to be a move towards them from a design perspective at BHVR at the moment.

Pinhead and dredge got the exact same reception.

I honestly wasn't expecting to see the such negative reception the new killer is getting. From what I can gather a lot of it has to do with a perceived bad design, peoples expectations being way too high, and supposedly bad gameplay. Has any other killer received this type of attention in the past? I'm fairly new to the DBD community so a lot of this discourse is new to me.
Literally every killer I've seen announced on here gets this reception. Every killer has been 'absolute trash needing immediate buffs' for a while now.
Unfortunately BHVR have invested way too much in map warp and anti loop killers for too long now and no one imo is going to go back to an M1 killer like this..

With Eruption having aura reading now, totaling 20 killer perks that give survivor aura reading. When does Distortion get nerfed? Seems kind of scuffed then if 1 perk could beat 20 perks consistently (add add-ons).
This comes from a match where a whole team had distortion and I was told my 1 aura reading perk. (nowhere to hide my beloved) was a crutch that I should quit running.
(I'm just venting about a bad wraith match)
When is Fearmonger getting nerfed? Seems odd that I don't get value out of Fogwise now that so many killers are running it? Obviously I'm being facetious. But, my point is: not everything needs to be nerfed to match something else otherwise it becomes pointless. It's just the luck of the draw. Also, oblivious is easy to live without provided you understand the killers actions. Killer has BBQ? Hide in as soon as you see someone has been picked up, wait in the locker for 4 seconds and bam. Killer gets no value out of BBQ for me - no oblivious needed. Its not often a perk you see imo.
ironically you've come from a match as the wraith, who automatically negates any survivor aura reading perks for a good chunk of the match. No perk necessary.
-
Killers tunnel with any loadout because its easy. Literally admitted by most killers when DH got nerfed. Stop deflecting.
-
This is so overdramatic.
Literally no one has asked for a nerf to any of those perks. The fact that survivors have called for a nerf to Eruption before any of the big hitters is actually proof they won't be nerfed.
Some people really need to put their toys back in the pram.
-
They need to revert it to its original form and:
- remove the incapacitated effect simply blocking gens that were being worked on and nothing else.
Or
- keep incapacitated but allow a tell for observant players to react like with Pain Res. That's all that needed doing.
Survivor main btw.
-
They've literally been buffing killer for months now. Behavior even said the UI wasnt deemed a buff as it just brought parity to SoloQ that SWF have for nothing. It hasn't even improved the game much from a survivor perspective because people still play pole idiots l regardless.

Pop + Dead Mans + Overcharge + Jolt + Call of Brine all say hello.
Literally more perks than you can equip in one loadout there.
In terms if sheer impact, as a regression perk Eruption isn't even one of the best. The way it activated was the main issue just needed tweaking and theyve certainly gone overboard. But, Call of brine is often doing all the heavy lifting.

It's honestly just ridiculous on some maps. You can just hold W from pallet to pallet to pallet to pallet and if you can't antiloop, it's basically impossible to ever get a down. It's fascinating, in a horrifying "why is this even possible as part of a game" way. Two people, in a completely non-interactive sequence.
Leave the chase and find the ones doing gens.
Respectfully, this is a skill/pride issue. You're allowing yourself to be sucked into a chase with someone who is better at looping than you are at chasing because you 'have to down this one survivor.
-
I'd just like to point out that unless you find a Cork screw in F13, you're dead as soon as Jason finds you. There are no hook states, no perks, and no endless sprint stamina. If Jason grabs you, you're dead. It's not comparable.
-
Honestly, I don't know who had the brain wave at BHVR to move the gen that was on the landing to downstairs mere metres away from the one that was already downstairs but it's created an absolutely unplayable game on RPD right now.
The combination of the two gens now being so close together as well as there being a hook at the bottom of the stairs and one in the waiting room or at the top of the stairs is creating an unstoppable camping culture with killers. Why would they even bother to move from the main hall when they can pretty much ensure two gens are never done and someone never gets off the hook? I don't even blame them at this point. If there is a gen in the east 1F hallway or interrogation room (which there always is) you have a instant three gen.
The gen being at the top of the stairs bought some much needed seconds and actually could be done under the killers radar if they're committing to a chase.

That is the honest FACTUAL answer. Anything else I give would be pontificating.
My personal experience with Dead Hard was it was causing too much of an imbalance in chase time compared to other exhaustion perks. Dead Hard created way more chase time than Lithe, Balanced Landing, etc. And is an example of why a perk like that should never be able to be used AT WILL.
And here we get to the real truth of the matter. It's all part of the big equation. Yes, DH was over used when it was nerfed, but would anyone care if 84% of people were running Slippery meat? Probably not. Why? Because its such a useless perk it would have very little impact.
Like I said to someone else, if high usage was a the only factor in warranting a nerf, slugging for the 4k would automatically qualify. However the real reason DH was nerfed was because, in your own words, "it was causing too much of an imbalance" I.e. it was affecting your enjoyment of the game and making it feel unfair. Enough killers said this often enough for BHVR to pay attention. Same with the hatch, which caused massive imbalance allowing multiple survivors to escape easily. Same with the use of some perks being disproportionately unfair in the EGC.
Slugging for the 4k is the exact same thing for survivors right now. Its overused and its creating an imbalance that is negatively impacting their games, whatever rebuttle you want to, and surely will, come back with about how 'its different' it really isnt. BHVR obviously don't disagree with that because, like the abovementioned items, they're actively looking into how to change it.
Just because something is in the game doesn't mean it doesn't warrant review if it is causing imbalance.
-
Movement as survivor on console has felt decidedly more sluggish too.

Staring at a blurry generator texture for 90s the game. Sounds such fun..

Hit validation is absolute BS at the moment: killers are making hits at large distances, over palates and windows, through items in the environment etc. Lots of people have been commenting on it so it's probably a response to that.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3318862#Comment_3318862
They nerfed it because the pick rate was too high, that's it. The patch where they changed loads of perks was solely to shake up the meta.
OK, so slugging for the 4k is also really high. I'd say about 80% of matches I play where I'm player 4 or 3 this happens. So if high usage the ONLY criteria, a fix for it is automatically justified. I suspect its not going to be (the only one) though. Similarly, why did the hatch get a fix? Yes we can say it was because multiple survivors were escaping through it, but why was it a bad thing? Their job is to survive. We all know the real answer to that and it applies just as much here.

Because it NEEDED to be fixed. The main issue as the Devs have said DH for distance to extend the chase was not the intended use for it and they saw a problem with it.
Now the issue we have are hackers with their Auto DH but besides that it's now more "skill based"
And why did it NEED to be fixed? Why was the distance to extend the chase a bad thing? They let the perk run as was for years. So why did they nerf it after so long?

3 survivors with hyper focus and a toolbox can fix the generator in 20 seconds, 1 person should briefly distract the killer so that at the beginning of the game you make 3 generation
so a complaint about the 3rd generation is the same as that the killer will stand afk, and after complaining that he does not have 4k
This is such a niche situation to cover the entirety of 3 gen situations - it just doesn't work.
Not everyone is going to be going into matches with this build just in case you get a 3 gen and if they did killers could complain about the amount of tool boxes they are using and resort to camping and tunneling - if they're not already.
This would just be a vicious circle. The absolute best solution is to have two sets of two survivors who work on the two generators in the three gen area that are furthest apart to force the killer to constantly move between them. It'll take time, but it works and it's made more effective if someone brings CoH in case the killer gets a hit in.

True!
Some games aren't winnable, so I'll just ######### around and try to practice while they hold their precious three gen. Try to hit all Greats, try to loop without dropping a pallet, etc etc
I had a match yesterday on Midwich with Spirit who was running at least Eruption and Pain Res - I gave up as loon as both of them first activated - I wasn't even entertaining trying to escape in that scenario lol.
I didn't hang around to see the third and fourth perks, but they were probably a combination of Call of Brine, BBQ or Overcharge.
