You are going to be doing those things naturally at some point anyways. Billy is not permanently in chainsaw mode.
Riiight..how much do you play him..? I'm asking because your time sawing is a lot more than you seem to think at high level

They say they think billy is balanced, then detail his nerf in the next paragraph. I just don't understand some of the balance decisions in this game
Nope

But you seem to be ignoring how slowly the chainsaw heats up when actually running with it. That does matter.
And you know what else is going when your just m1ing and walking...? Gens..gens are going...

Saw this coming in January.
Gauge bars are an annoying mechanic and I hate this trend of going from fun abilities to "let's play the waiting game to use your power! wee!"
Charge based is even worse, but man. All Billy needed was some addon changes. Perk reworks are fine too I guess, but leave the basekit alone.
They dont listen well

Apparently we aren't, since you seem to think that the chainsaw will heat up too quickly.
Yes..because I know billy..hes reving all the time for chases and map pressure..seeing how long cd takes compared to the rev heat up shows he will be on cd very often..knee capping his map pressure

The most balanced killer in the game gets the famous "addon" pass, hahahahha
What a joke. Guess they have to keep their terrible track record up, don't they?
Once again they hid it and lied up till it was nearly time to see it first hand

Unless you are only Sonic-the-Hedgehogging around the map, it doesn't seem like you are going to overheat that often.
Guess we will see..obviously I'm very cynical because everyone said the same schtick about nurse..and I do t care what people assume, shes not what she should have been

Maybe..?

He can still do that, just not forever.
But if he uses it for thst..then what? His anti loop has been shredded because they work off the same stupid cd

The sound is mostly just a small detail. They're still going to hear your chainsaw long before he starts screaming.
And that cd..? It looks like it takes a year to recover and you know how reliant Billy is on his saw to be viable...this seems like itll be a disaster..and that hit cd in the video..? Its so long
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1407732#Comment_1407732
Constant what? Once you start running with the chainsaw, it heats up very slowly.
But your always sawing around tag...his power giving him that was his only advantage..and look at that attack hit..jesus he was stuck there for a year...this is silly
-

Can't wait for all of you to get your hands on PTB and give us even more feedback! We'll also have a Q&A next week so keep an eye out for it.
Hopefully we get some insight..this could kneecap Billy if handled poorly..it already seems extremely unnecessary
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1407723#Comment_1407723
What do you mean fast build-up? It only builds up quickly if you keep it revved but don't actually use it.
You have to rev to do anything with it..which means itll be constant
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1407717#Comment_1407717
Again, based on the video, it seems like it won't be easy to overheat the chainsaw unless you practically go out of your way. It heats up very slowly when you are actually running with it.
But when reving it it's very fast I noticed, and cooldown seems to be very very long
-
@TAG said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1407630#Comment_1407630
I mean...there is video evidence, so...
Evidence of massive cd compared to pretty fast buildup yes

Don't be fooled by what? I saw the same video you did.
This is no small change..billy is going to feel significantly worse mark my words

Every time changes come out killers post complains like a hive mind without even thinking once about them, not even experiencing them at all.
Because history repeats itself..and based off the video the chainsaw cd is massive..so..yeah forgive me if I've seen this bs before and am tired of it
-
@TAG said:
From the video they showed, it seems pretty hard to actually cause the chainsaw to overheat unless you go way out of your way to do it.
It also showed the cooldown is extremely slow and hitting a survivor has massive recovery cd lol..dont be fooled

I don't think it'll make that much of a difference but it is a little strange. I'm also surprised they added a sound que to let survivors know when he is sprinting without mentioning it.
If course they did lol
-
@YaiPa said:
might become add-on dependent if they left carburator or spark plug (which I really don't think so), and if revving your chainsaw faster means less overheat build-up.
Dunno...
-
@TAG said:
The video they showed makes it seem like you only risk overheating if you chainsaw nonstop or constantly keep the saw revved. That doesn't seem like a problem to me.
Lolf9rgive me if I doubt that very much

From what I saw, it doesn't look like it'll overheat so quickly that it'll be like Nurse.
Can't comment on his addons, but I'm really excited to play these two!

He seems better..billy is screwed though probably

Actually... it makes no sense, there are a lot of people who complains about flashlight saves (me included) but that doesn't mean I am right (And yes, I do accept when I am wrong).
Anyway, this change won't change anything in the way I play PH because when I sent someone to a cage I didn't mind where they went at all and I don't mind now. Just keep patrolling gens like normal.
Tunneling is a very effective strategy for obvious reasons but it hurts your skills as a player because it doesn't allow you to grow and improve those skills.
Dunno why your telling me that like I dont know but ok

That wasnt an actual question..and I went over ot in the post, which I encourage you to legit read

That would kill noth killers on the spot

This is a bug, they just havent fixed it in months

It will literally try to find the furthest place. I didn't said corner and the devs literally said that the cage will spawn the furthest away from you.
Sorry to say that but THIS is not rocket science. He already got something to make up for it, literally the deactivation of some perks that would be a crutch in such a situation. But let's wait until the Devs monitored the match results of PH players and they will do some tweaks if it results in a drastic change
Hm, yeah sure ..their priorities havent exactly been there ..i mean they had time to do this but failed to fix Billy's camera that's been bugged for months
-
I just want them to make punishment of the damned slightly more viable
-
@Peanits said:
The tell I feel is pretty obvious. Once you see someone go down from healthy once, you know she's using it. Ideally you don't want to get hit by a hatchet even if she's not using it, so it's not really a "too little too late" situation.
Anyway, I'd be totally okay with that personally. The most interesting idea I've heard was to make long range hatchets (>24m or 32m) instantly down people. That way it stays powerful, but requires a lot more skill to use and has way more counterplay. What do y'all have in mind?
Youd never get to use those...My idea..make it reduce hatchets to three, but make them have mangled till healed, 20 second exhaust, and twenty second hindered..then the very last axe becomes a one shotting axe..still good, more fun, and if you want more axes you get less 1 shots

So how has this cage change affected your gameplay as PH because at the moment you're the only one I've seen ranting about it so I'm just curious.
Ignoring the dozen plus posts about this very issue 1 of witch was done by a youtuber but yeah it's just me..guess I'm the only one with sense

I'm assuming you use a build that requires the need to see the cage.
What is your build for PH and why is the cage aura important for it. Thank you :)
Lol you assume it's about a build but I'm not surprised based off..well..whatever this is
-
Finally people who see this further than "lol you just tunneled" right..so completely ignore the other ramifications of this

Agreed, I made a whole video about it because it was an issue.
And I was Pyramid Head.
Ok..? Yes it sucked and it's better to deal with it..HOWEVER your not just punishing the cheese straters..what part of that isnt clear...?

@Mew said:

its true to me, ive been playing him non stop since his release
tunneling and camping cages was very low risk-high reward when playing him. now his cages actually require thought rather than “im gonna cage this survivor and relentlessly tunnel them because i can”
Your missing my point though
-
@Mew said:
cages shouldnt be used willy nilly, there are times where you should cage the survivor and times where you should hook them instead
this nerf is really good because it means the pyramid head will get punished for using his cage at a terrible time
That is silly for one and completely not true..this change doesnt even remotely pertain to that
-
@Peanits said:
Definitely wouldn't go that far. If you only used it to camp the cage and then tunnel them knowing full well that Borrowed Time or Decisive Strike wouldn't activate, then sure, it's going to be less appealing now (as it should be). Under normal circumstances, however, it still has benefits. Putting them in a cage sends them as far away from you as it can, so if you know all the other survivors are close, you can force them to go across the map to save them. It also allows you to completely avoid flashlight or pallet saves, and saves you the time you would spend picking them up and bringing them to a hook.
Yet the loss of info has big implications at high level..you gave nothing to compensate for that somewhere else in his kit just for the sake of feels , that's what's not cool about this
-
@SketchyPenguin said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1404984#Comment_1404984
Actually it's really helpful, if you see that the furthest area (from you) doesn't have gens anymore, you don't have to go there to find the caged survivor, instead stay at the gens and try to defend them. However if you find a gen really far away and the caged survivor is rescued asap, then go to that area, because it gives you the notification, that there was a survivor and he probably already was working on that gen.
I really don't see the problem with the change. I can play PH like before and it doesn't bother me IMO
But it's not always the furthest corner, it has preset spawns so that logic is severely flawed , ph should have gained something to make up for the info loss but he didnt..its not rocket science, this wasnt a balance issue it was a feels issue and yet was responded to in a balance affecting way..therefore they should have shifted some power somewhere else
-
@SketchyPenguin said:
The cage will try to spawn the furtherst away from you, so you know an approx area
Mhm...great..not very helpful though , because you dont KNOW
-
@LowSpecGamersMatter said:

exactly, so dont go out of your way to find the cage to start tunneling/camping. Knowing the approx area is enough imformation to plan your next route for gen patrol.
You know what I meant, dont twist my words to fit some narrative
-
@LowSpecGamersMatter said:
