Hey folks! I made my first post about how I like to let survivors go a while back. Just wanted to come back to say that survivors treat me like trash no matter how fair I play.

Thus I have decided to be toxic back. When survivors t bag. Or switch items last second so I can’t pick perks to counter. Or are clearly using voice coms(Not for fun but to sweat and coordinate like crazy) as a 4 man swf (not cheating but incredibly unbalanced) I tunnel and face camp them!

It feels great. Especially the voice com using swf. They come into the game with 2 flashlights, 2 toolboxes, bond, everyone running decisive and borrowed time, hook sabo for days, t bagging flashlight clicking etc... Then they complain that they got camped. I love reading all the hate filled messages after. I hate this game. The people that play it are trash and they have made me trash.

That post and that username.. I’m so confused

Okay if you want to go that route then we can talk experienced vs experienced player.

The problem is your same size is not experienced vs experienced. Red ranks are polluted with bad players currently from a flawed ranking system and the last rank reset change. This is has made bad survivors pile up in red ranks that have no business being there. IE even in red ranks we are playing realistically red-green players. That is a lot of potatoes.

If we were doing actual good vs good players you would not be picking up Spirit easily.

Also, 32 matches is insanely small.

Is it 32 matches with 4K on all of them? If it is a 4K on all the matches, 32 is not insanely small..

    Ditto.

I do not enjoy playing against Legion or Spirit either but Freddy takes the cake by a long(arm) shot.

  • I feel you OP. I’m a mediocre survivor at best too, even though I’ve hit rank 1, and I understand the pain of learning looping. It’s a painful climb through a lot of failed attempts. It’s a skill that is really actually made up of other smaller skills that make the term seem deceptive. I don’t think there IS a skill called looping. I don’t think I’ve learned to loop. Rather, I learned map knowledge, killer abilities, tile sets, gauging distance, learning to control camera, knowing where my teammates are etc. But I’ve never learned this skill named looping. It’s actually a skill made up of all these other smaller skills.

So when I play a game, I brush up on the smaller skills. Sometimes I learn the tiles, pallet and window locations. Sometimes I focus on controlling camera. Sometimes I pay attention to breaking LoS. It’s these small things that add up to being a good looper. But I’m not sure there is a skill named looping.

There are some things in the game that are really counter intuitive too, and require some thinking and reflecting to understand. I recently saw Fungoose saying that the gens in the halls of midwich are safer than those in the rooms. And I was like “Wooooot?” Aren’t the pallets and loops in the room? Aren’t you more visible in the hallways? But nope it’s actually easier to see the killer coming from afar in the hallways. You see the killer coming a mile away and you know from which direction, and then you just keep running, start running and loop him outside of chase around the entire school. The killer cannot gain bloodlust and cannot catch up to you for a long time and you can clearly see if the killer is still chasing you from half a hall to a full hallways distance. That just blew my mind. Ever since, I’ve been loving looping killers outside of chase. You don’t get points but hey, it’s a great way to help your team and you feel really useful doing it. A chase like that could easily last a minute!

So yeah lots to say about looping but can’t get through it all now. Just pick up the little bits here and there and they add up. It’s frustrating yes, and take a break if you have to, but there are many tiny ways to make your chases last longer. And it will be more consistent over time.

Why do you complain about being found first when as soon as you spawn you start sprinting everywhere?

Why do you loop near the hook your team mate is on?

Why do you open the gates when the killer is nowhere near you?

Why are you allergic to totems?

Why don't you crouch when you unhook against a hag?

Why do you still drop that pallet after you get hit?

Why do you self care under pallets when a team mate is being chased nearby?

Why do you feel the need to heal 10 times a match?

I used to be found first a lot but not so much anymore.

I don’t loop near the hook if I can help it.

I 99 but don’t open the gates unless the killer is near or I’m injured and on death hook.

I do totems almost every time I see them.

I do crouch when I unhook against a hag.

Sometimes i misjudge the distance, sometimes I panic, most of the times I just don’t drop pallet.

I don’t remember the last build I ran self care in.

Don’t run self care so I don’t heal. Unless you mean healing teammates then hell yeah! Autodidact all the way!

If it’s killer or survivor i have anxiety playing both roles and it’s a shame cause i really like this game. But my anxiety gets in the way a lot of the time because i ask questions like. “What if i die will my team hate me?” or “Will we lose if i don’t do that gen or save that guy?” Or as killer “If i don’t kill everybody am i bad killer?” Stuff like this makes me not want too play. Which is a shame because i really like this game.

Ah I can understand the feeling OP. As long as you don’t take this game too seriously, it’ll be fine. Any kills or missed skill checks don’t transfer into life. So any mistakes you make doesn’t have any bearing on reality.

Also, it might seem counter-intuitive but don’t be afraid to get angry. If your teammate missed a skill check and exposed you, get angry! If you accidentally led the killer to your team, get angry! If that bear trap was unfair because it was too dark to see, get angry! Get angry and then get over it. It’s natural to get angry when these things happen. What’s not natural is not getting angry, or holding onto it so it won’t pass.

Just remember this and that all your other teammates are equally blaming you and then letting it pass and I think you’ll be ok. Haha!

  • I’ve recently had some luck with slingers, and it’s because I was running spine chill. Their movement speed is pretty slow and their terror radius is really Low. So if you know they’re coming up to you (because of Spine Chill) start making a run for it.

Keep using LOS against him and use Spine Chill to gauge whether he is still on your tail. Because you never see him and he moves slowly and he is not in chase, he chases you down really slowly and cannot build bloodlust.

This worked because the slinger kept tunneling me and I knew he was still tracking me because of Spine Chill and because if I stopped for awhile I would hear the Terror Radius behind me. He couldn’t catch up because he didn’t know which direction I would be running and he couldn’t build bloodlust.

Not saying this will always work but I’ve looped 2 slingers for 4 gens each this way.

(Also you don’t get points for chase but hey, it’s for the team right?)

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1879842#Comment_1879842

I'm feeling ok, I'm just getting frustrated because this kind of people that send death threats should not be playing videogames at all.

Note: I even lost the match badly, they threated me when they won.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1879857#Comment_1879857

Exactly, this is what I think as well, I'm just getting tired of that kind of people, like I said, I lost and then they started that.

    I did reported them.

I’m really sorry about that man. Just know I don’t think you deserve all the hate that you get.

Edit: And yes report them. We don’t want that hate circulating online.

Insidious has an amazing counter, Kindred. Shows all the other Survivors whats going on so they can focus on repairing gens. "But its not fun for the camped Survivor!" Yeah well Killers who want to camp are going to camp. Devs have already said it's a legit strat and have done what they feel necessary to discourage it. Just get over it and move on.

As for Ghostface, as has already been mentioned, revealing him knocks him out of Stealth and removes his ability to mark. In return, GF sees where you are. Game wise its an eye for an eye, you are "risking" yourself for the team. Lore wise it even makes sense for GF to learn where you are since the Devs have stated the relationship between the Entity and GF is closer than most.

Correct me if I’m wrong but when the killer gets stealthed through insidious, he doesn’t show up on kindred. If survivors are paying attention, they’ll see him stand there for a few seconds and then disappear.

Its still kind of a counter, but I thought we should point out that distinction.

Don't complain if your queues are long, stop harassing killers is your life that bad that you need to harass people on the internet? I bet you would never say anything bad in person.

Treat killers like people instead of your play toy, they want to enjoy the game as well, just today I've had 4 death threats and that is on 5 matches that I've played.

Everyone has bad games but you making it worse for the killers will create a chain reaction.

Killer has a bad game turns into survivors harassing then killer turns around and harasses the next ones then survivors harass then killers.

Holy crap. I understand frustration but death threats are going too far. I hope you feel better my dude.

  • I have been getting teammates of varying skill levels. I haven’t seen such big potatoes for awhile. I thought it was the reset.

  • I just had a game where I looped a deathslinger outside of chase for 4 gens. He was low rank and kept tunneling me. He couldn’t even see me but followed my scratch marks around a giant wall for about 6 loops and together with the other parts of the chase 4 gens got done. But because I looped him out of chase I got 6k points and my teammates for 20k+ for sitting on gens.

So yeah not difficult to get rank 1 just get in a game and hope to be carried.

  • Ooh I was late. I would have guessed iron will, urban evasion and calm spirit, but not sure about the last one.

There are many rules in the community to assure the opposite side has a fun experience. Some play with this rules, some dont.

While i think its nice to not ruin others fun and i try to do it, i wonder what effects it has in the long run.

When i dont abuse something, the data doesnt show the problem and the chance is higher that it will not be changed.

So could it be that for example the iridescent head and infantry belt combo would have be nerfed long ago, when more players had decided to abuse it?

Or does it make no difference?

I’m of the thinking that something isn’t a problem if people don’t abuse it. It’s actually impossible to create a perfectly balanced game where none of the mechanics are abusable. The devs depend on the players to a certain extent to behave and be a good actor instead of a bad one. Sure many things we can balance and avoid unfairness but some are just not fixable unless the players agree to honor each other’s time and commitment.

I guess what I’m saying is, yes we can balance certain things and probably should and not assume people will be good actors. But there really is no substitute for human decency and compassion. No matter how you balance something or whatever systems you create, these two things will never be replaceable.

It's cheesy. Do it if you want; but you likely won't get any respect for it.

Generally most (knowledgeable) survivors are not going to give you too much flak for it though. It IS your job to kill survivors. There is a point where it crosses over into just petty though and not gameplay; and that is what you want to avoid.

Ooh I like the way you put it. Yes this.

  • I managed to get rank 1 survivor 100% soloq before the reset. I just play for fun and get sacrificed (by teammates) very often so I wouldn’t recommend my playstyle.

Some days the teammates can work very well and actually care whether you die or not. Other days teammates will do whatever it takes not to get into a chase, they won’t take a hit for you, hook trade or get the killers attention even if they haven’t been on the hook. In those games you probably won’t do very well with my playstyle.

Others here have said so too, getting chased for 3 gens and then dying doesn’t net you very many blood points or pips. Your teammates who sat on gens will probably score better than you.

Regardless though, that’s how I actually got to rank 1. I played what I found fun. Run the killer, do the dangerous gens, be generous to teammates, take protection hits. Sounds a lot more fun than avoiding the killer all game.

Certainly RNG factors in. But there are ways a killer can run these optimally as well. Also there are certain spots that should not be chased.

But, I definitely believe that 4 optimal survivors do indeed swing the power role to the survivor side. However, these are not the majority of survivors I face, nor are paired with in Solo Q.

I agree with this. I think 4 experienced survivors who know what they are doing are favoured. But I rarely see this in soloq. In which case I think killer is usually favored.

It’s amazing how much difference it makes when just one teammate urban evades around the map or refuses to get in a chase. Not saying it’s impossible but it is significantly harder.

I ran No Mither and Resilence just for fun. My Tome challenge was to deplete 3 toolboxes so thats why I brought it. I go in solo as Ace, the other 3 were Meg. I guess they were SWF. They had 2 med kits and a flashlight. Map is Backwater Swanp. I go to boat and start gen. I can tell its Nurse because I hear her teleporting. Nobody is in a chase tho. As soon as I finish gen and the horn sounds she teleports to me and hits me. I run off boat but she catches me. Im hooked and she shakes her head no and face camps me.

2 gens pop and now im going into struggle phase. I get rescued but no borrowed time, I get tunneled and put back on hook. Im dead so I spectate just to see nurse watching them finish the last gen and lets them all leave the match untouched. Thats what set me off. I didnt teabag nor did I even get a chance to drop a pallet.

It just frustrated me to no end.

Oook that’s pretty screwed up. From the earlier part of the match it’s hard to say if she tunnelled. But if she just watched the other 3 Megs do gens and let them escape that seems like pretty direct discrimination.

I’ve no idea what set that off but since there’s no way to know best to let it go and move to the next match. Don’t take it personally, the killer probably had some unknown reason to do what he/she did that was no fault of yours. Hell, I suspect I’ve been tunnelled just for wearing that new colourful Nea skin, but there was no way I could know. So I just let it go and move to the next game.

There are many more good and fair killers and games out there. So get stuck in, fume a little, get angry, and then move on. Better to have fun with the good players.

    See you in the fog!

I know. Im just pissed. And needed to vent. Im not a toxic player. That gets boring fast. Just tired of the nonsense. And everyone here act like they dont understand but rather add insult to injury instead of helping and offering solutions. I see I dont need to be on the forums. Probably the same ones who play toxic aswell.

I see no harm in OP ranting a little here. Yeah we all get toxic matches sometimes, and we get angry about it. If ranting here is gonna help by all means.

I’ll add though that not all toxic behaviour is provoked (by killers or survivors) although for sure some are. Just keep in mind. Some people are just using you as an outlet and some people on the forums have even admitted to that.

Also I’ll add other reasons I’ve been tunnelled and camped that haven’t been stated here.

    (1) Carrying a map

    (2) Carrying a flashlight (just carrying, no clicky clicky)

    (3) Knowing where someone’s ruin totem was

In all those instances I was tunnelled into oblivion (Killer ignored all other players and objectives just to get me out). So there are many reasons why someone would tunnel. Not saying it’s not toxic, but there are many reasons.

Also goes to show, ruin doesn’t automatically mean a killer will pressure gens. Just saying.

Also OP says he runs No Mither. I heard someone say he gets tunnelled running that. Maybe the killer thought it makes you easier prey? Not that I’m condoning it but that could be a reason.

  • Yeah I played a Bubba yesterday too, twice (same guy) who literally camped every hook. I still had fun even though he camped because the chases were fun (and my teammates were productive).

What is really annoying is bad teammates. Just played against Huntress who 4K-ed at 4 gens, because teammates made bad decisions (sandbagged, urban evasion through entire map, going for saves and heals at the wrong time etc.). Even though the Huntress chased everyone and double hooked everyone, THAT game was really no fun. And it was really because of teammates.

Bad teammates on top of being camped/tunnelled is what is really annoying.

  • Yeah it sucks to be tunnelled man. I just got tunnelled out of a game because I brought a map into a game with a Trapper who had ruin. So he wasn’t being toxic but it still sucked. What is worse is the entire time he was chasing me and I was on the hook my team did a whopping 1 gen. That’s what really blows.

  • (Double post. Can’t delete this post so ignore it)

  • I agree that last minute changing of items is a dick move. I’d be ok with no switching items in the last 15secs.

I'm pretty sure most Survivors have felt the same way then dealing with an inexperienced Killer. It doesn't even have to be meant in an offensive way from your perspective but from the Killers point of view, it can very quickly look like you're purposely making fun of them.

For example when I loop a Pig and when it goes prone I simply leave the loop and watch it charge around the loop, confused as I'm not there anymore. In that moment I have a big smirk on my face as I realize that I can pull such simple mindgames on that player, which gives me opportunities to "let them look bad" for my amusement.

If you haven't experienced such situations, you either haven't played that much DbD or you're lying.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1873749#Comment_1873749

Nope, the only thing I complain about when I get camped or tunneled is the other Survivors that usually do nothing but lurk around the hook in a desperate attempt to unhook me instead of finishing the gens. I never blame Killers when they react in such a manner, I expect it and deserve it. When they camp for no apparent reason, it can happen that I get frustrated but then I simply remind myself that they probably just had a really rough match earlier on and need to release some pressure.

I think we can all agree that the only appropriate way to deal with a pig who is prone is to boop the snoot.

When I hear nothing, see no killer specific stff, and haven't seen anybody get injured by their status or heard or seen anybody chased by about a minute in I usually wonder if it's an afk wraith or other sort of killer afk somewhere on the map lol. Sometimes it's just somebody that somehow takes along time finding somebody, but often they seem afk after a long time like that lol. I've had a few suddenly come alive with noed though, which is something I've done before on wraith for fun, so I get my free chase points out on afk ones until I hear the gates are powered since I started seeing more fake afks the last times I played.

Haha! Your comment made me lol. Must have been funny.

I guarantee you that 99,99% of the Survivors that BM Killers do it while being fully aware of the effect is causes on the person controlling the Killer. That's one, perhaps even the biggest motivation to do it, it's a sadistic bullying mentality but it also gives you that feeling of having power and control over someone else.

An egoistic, antisocial and surely unhealthy psychological mindset but that's how our brain works. I'm guilty of it aswell, I enjoy making fun of Killers from time to time but I also apologize for my behaviour when I went too far and my opponent took it more personal than intended.

Point is, the players are fully aware of their inappropriate behaviour, they enjoy being an #########. That's the reason why they do it.

Mm I see. Thank you for the insight.

  • Don’t feel bad about ranting OP. I’m sure many killer players here (mains or not) feel the same way. My first experience playing killer was like that too. I was rank 20, it was my third match as killer. One guy decides to loop me, flashlight me at every pallet, vault into me while I’m blinded etc. Obviously toying with me. End of the game I find he is a rank 2 matched against me a rank 20 (And it was on Haddonfield).

Maybe he didn’t know (though I doubt it), maybe he didn’t think it was obnoxious. But I can understand where you and many killer mains are coming from.

  • Like many here have said, spine chill is a great counter. If you’re having trouble with stealth killers, using it will give you space to learn about stealth killers until you’re more familiar with them, and then you can maybe switch it out for another perk if you like.

Many people here have raised great points but I’ll just add something I haven’t seen here. I’ve been watching a lot of Fungoose and something I picked up from him is he sometimes start the game by running across the map to the middle generator just to get a feel of where and who the killer is while simultaneously pressuring the most important objective.

Sometimes that is not viable and that could be very dangerous especially if you don’t know how to loop. But another thing you could do is look out for puzzle boxes, cleansing springs or traps around. If you see none of those you have crossed 3 killers off the list.

Nurse, Huntress, Clown, Leatherface, Billy can usually be heard from pretty far away. Doctor usually gives off his identity when you hear screaming and see madness on your teammates. Deathslinger’s gunshot can be heard across the map.

If it’s 30secs into a trial, you see no puzzle boxes, traps, springs, hear no terror radius, chainsaws, gunshots, etc, be prepared for a stealth killer. There’s a decent chance it could be one. Plan your escape route and don’t be afraid to step away from the gen if you suspect the killer is around.

  • Yeah soloq can be very frustrating. It’s especially frustrating when you know the killer didn’t deserve the 4K and got one anyway because my teammates made some wrong decisions.

Now that undying is getting nerfed a lot less killers are running it and that makes soloq so much more fun. It’s so obvious how strong ruin undying is in soloq because the killer gets an easy 4K very consistently and sometimes still 4Ks without it.

I’m still fairly new to the game and so have a lot to learn, but the one thing I found most useful in soloq is to equip kindred. It gives you so much information. Bond is also really good since you can find teammates when you need to heal or find teammates who need healing.

As I’ve gotten better and can loop and lose a killer I can sacrifice iron will and dead hard and bring info perks instead.

  • Damn dude I feel ya. That matchmaking just ain’t right. But please when you do get good have mercy!! D:

  • Kindred is really good in solo queue. I tend to run that and Borrowed Time because I don’t like people getting camped.

  • I like running deception and quick and quiet. Only problem is I only have those on Elodie right now and her screams are so loud.

  • I can relate to OP. I love this game and haven’t been playing very long. I do my best and try to contribute to my team in any way I can. Most recently I’ve been learning to run the killer and manage to do well sometimes. I do notice that most teammates in soloq are only out for themselves though.

I wondered for awhile why I was always the one who died so quickly in a trial or the first one spotted or chased, and I realised in soloq the teammates just hide until they know someone is in a chase. That means very often the first time a gen is getting touched is when you can see someone in the bottom left of the screen go into injured state. That is so much time wasted at the start of the trial.

I tried playing more self-preservation style for a few games and in those games, I ended up escaping every time, either through doors or hatch. But it felt really scummy to me to not take more risks for my team.

So even though I get spotted and chased very often and often die on hook, I still take bold risks for my team because I find that the most fun. Sadly, I can’t say the same for my teammates in soloq so I empathise with you OP.

  • I haven’t had teammates camping hatch but just not engaging with the killer. I’ve been consistently getting blendettes every match (at least 1 sometimes 2), who immerse all game, and do gens only when I’m in a chase, and then beeline straight for the exit gates once all gens are done. They stick around because they feel bad someone is on the hook, but they never actually attempt a save, just waiting till the person dies on hook before they go “ah I tried” and then escaping.

I’ve been having a blast because I’m faring better in chases but between this and Freddy every other match, the game is getting stale.

  • Reading this thread explains a lot. I just started this game about a month ago and have played mostly solo queue survivor. I found it fun at the beginning because I expected to lose and didn’t take it too seriously. But as I got better and started playing more seriously it’s sometimes hard to get over how frustrating teammates can be.

At first I got found and downed quickly because I didn’t know the maps and didn’t know what I was supposed to do and where to position myself. But after playing for awhile I realised there were other reasons why I was getting found and tunnelled so often. When I get tunnelled out a game, I spectate the other survivors and notice that the way they escape chases or evade the killer is by wearing dark colours and blending into the environment.

After several games I notice also that in solo queue (red ranks btw) no one touches a gen until they know someone is being chased, either because the obsession symbol is wriggling or someone has already been hit once or is about to be hooked. This blew my mind because I always thought we should be as productive as possible and get our share of chases and hooks and take our turn to run the killer. Also if you’re just going to hide and not do gens, why play the game? But nope a big chunk of players (75% in the last two days) are crouching through the map waiting for someone to get chased before touching a gen. I’m not the best looper but I also don’t expose myself to the killer on purpose, so that explained why I always got found and no one else did. (Also why the killer would always choose to chase me, a neon nea, rather than the other two blendettes)

There is the odd player who runs the killer effortlessly and many teammates who play appropriately altruistically, and those games make solo queue fun. But when that’s not the case, it can be very frustrating.

Nevertheless, solo queue is still mostly fun for me. During Christmas and the day after, the games were fantastic. Maybe only the more engaged players were playing then, but I had games back to back where everyone just knew what they were doing and took their share of the work and we all escaped without much trouble, and these were against red rank killers too. It was so much fun. Also I somehow managed to run two killers till they gave up and ran to the basement and also got my first 4 gen couple days ago. That was fun (for me, admittedly not so for the killer. But I wasn’t being toxic, and didn’t make fun of the killer so I guess it’s ok). So yea.
