  • I started out playing Feng because I thought she was cute. I was scared as all get it. I got off the gen every time I heard the killer terror radius. I wish I could remember my first killer. I think it was the trapper. I remember it would take a few minutes for my heart rate to go down at the start of the match. Not to mention I, along with all the other rank 20s, blew the h*ll out of the gens.

I'm not a "turn the other cheek" kind of guy, not with a community this toxic. Maybe 2 out of 12 are good sports. Heck, one match, I was going to give the last guy hatch, I was standing on top of said hatch when I saw him lurking, so I started chasing him and pushing him toward the hatch. When he escaped, he was, trying to piss me off because he escaped and I never downed him once..

I've been online gaming since 1998's Starsiege tribes and Starcraft. Never seen a community of gamers this toxic. Sure you will encounter the odd troll or hacker in other games, but for the most part, people are good sports. Not here.

Fair enough, these players can be extremely toxic. I've encountered it on both ends. But if its affecting you this badly, do you honestly still get enjoyment from the game? I'd suggest closing end game chat or dropping a gg and closing the window at the end of the game. There are just so many immature people playing this game, and yes, children. I play on pc and xbox and every time someone tries to add me on mics they're between 10-14 years old. I just stopped accepting party invites months ago. I try to keep that in mind that I might be dealing with a kid who thinks he or she is hot stuff insulting people or trying to be the next ochido in DBD.

  • It sucks to have a bad game, four flashlights with high ranks can be rough, but you're displaying classic bully behavior. Most bullies are bullied. The kids that go to school and pick on other kids were picked on themselves. It doesn't excuse the behavior, and it only frustrates and angers more people. It's like spreading a cold. If I have a frustrating game as killer or survivor I take a break, reevaluate what just happened and how I can do things differently next time. I can't control the survivors or the killer no matter how they decide to play but I can decide how I react to it in the future. A cool head wins games. A hot one can't think clearly enough for victory.

  • Play like you normally would. Some of them just want your attention because they know they can loop you into oblivion while the rest gets gens done. I personally enjoy a good teabag at a pallet. Taking the time to spam crouch means you're not putting any distance between me and you while I break the pallet. Flashlight clicks, I don't care about. I care about flashlight saves, thanks for reminding me you have a flashlight doofus. Overconfident players usually pay for it in some way. Play the game the way you intended from the beginning. Facecamping achieves nothing but ensuring you're bored and probably more tilted than the person on the hook.

  • Used to rotate survivors but I had to cut back because I play on two systems and the grind is too much to get all perks. On Xbox I main Nea and Tapp. Nea because she was one of the first survivors I ever played. Tapp is just my good luck charm and you don't see him much. On PC I main Yui, Tapp and Quentin. Yui because I like her look and Quentin because he just has a nice feel to him when I am looping and dodging.

A killer has the right to play how they want as long as its following the rules of the game.

You're right but I still agree with OP, kindred should work on undetectable. You want to camp you flip the coin that survivors have it or not.

  • @BeanieBoyBob said:

But then the one and only Killer power would be undone because of one perk. Fair enough in terms of insidious, but Killers like Wraith and Ghostface shouldn't have their entire element removed from them just because a perk was used by a Survivor.

Then they should move 16 meters or more from the hook, especially camping ghostfaces who just like to sit there and stalk the saver.

  • The survivor side will never be as stressful as killer for a few reasons. Killers are on a clock counting down from the moment the game begins. They have to juggle several variables at once and make snap decisions on how to react to any given scenario. Even without swf killers have to deal with unknown variables. Does the survivor have an insta or regular medkit, a green or purple key, unbreakable or d strike, borrowed time or dead hard? As a survivor many if not all killer perks become know to you after a few minutes in game. The only things you have to worry about end game are Noed and Rancor, possibly blood warden. Streamers find it easier to play survivor and use their downtime (not being chased)for them to read the chat. Where as killers must always be on the move and tracking. Lastly, it feels worse losing a survivor to the exit gate than it does dying on hook. I'm not sure why that is. Perhaps it is bearing all the weight of failure on your own while survivors die or survive as a team( spreading the burden), sometimes a backstabbing, cowardly team, but one all the same.

  • Favs: Feng, Yui, Tapp, Claudette, David, Ash

Okay: Jane, Kate, Ace, Nea, Bill,Steve, Dwight

Dislike: Meg, Susie & Joey ( dislike Legions and everything included), Nancy,Jeff, Jake

So then why do the devs only listen to one side of the community?

Oh you mean like the changes to medkits (instaheals), balanced landing, EGC, D strike, Object of Obsession (undetectable was created), Mettle of Man, map reworks without safe pallets...yeah, I'd say devs are ONLY listening to one side of the community.

  • Same thing that's up with survivor nerfs. Attempts at balance. No one asked for changes to vaults and yet here we are.

  • It is unfortunate to see a teammate self-caring through sloppy butcher and thana in a corner while teammates die on hook and bleed out on the ground, but it is not self care's fault. That teammate made a poor decision to heal themselves rather than save a teammate because they are more concerned about their own safety. You get the same result from a fully healed teammate crouching behind a rock on the other side of the map, or staying on a gen while the team is going down. People just don't realize or care that one player removed from the game too early can tilt the game in the killer's favor.

There are just players that won't risk their necks for you even if they are fully healed, and there are players that won't come for you at all if they're hurt. So its a no win situation.

  • Have you every watched streams with endgame chats on PC? I play xbox and PC and its a relief to play Xbox and just leave after the game without having to hear a killer complain or a teammate brag or whine about how the game went down. I play killer and survivor on xbox and have yet to get a nasty message from a player. I find that by far, Xbox players are more toxic, especially killers-maybe because the gaming pool tends to be much younger than PC. Even if you get the occasional negative message you'll get much more salt with endgame chat on both sides.

  • Like most bugs in this game, there are people 'trying' to exploit it, but you can't weed them out from legitimate players that have little choice or knowledge. The community will just have to deal with it until the hotfix.

  • I don't feel that keys are a problem. Sure it sucks to have someone leave by one when you're really doing good in a game, but guess what you did not take that person out before they had a chance to A. find hatch B. get enough gens done to spawn hatch. There are variables in this game that suck and the player can do nothing about, like being the last one alive after knocking out several gens and having the door spawn on the same wall with a highly mobile killer. You just won't 4k as a killer and you just won't exit the match as a survivor and that is okay, through no fault of your own. These are the variables we accept in this game, unfair or not, the universe does not need to align so that you can always win.

  • I mostly play survivor because I get more satisfaction helping someone off the hook than putting them there. I also don't stealth most of the time, I work on my looping . I prefer not having a 1st person field of view. I have been playing killer for a few months now and I honestly can't see buying any cosmetics just for other people to see all game.

  • As mostly a survivor I don't mind NOED unless I see it on someone like Billy who has a one hit down anyway. Then again I do totems in my solo games. There has been many times when I deprived the killer of NOED, only on maps like Hawkins I can't always find five totems. Or the killer is really pressuring you don't have time to run around and prioritize gens. I'm all for a totem counter to help know if teammates are doing totems or not.

  • Because adrenaline works that way in real life. Even if you were dead tired or injured a burst of adrenaline would give you a short window of speed and strength to get out of harms way. It is fine as it is, works once a trial after all gens are powered. Besides that less people seem to be running it than a few months ago.

  • Because he would be like spirit except he could see you. The outplays would be insane especially since you cannot maneuver to a safe place for the split second he comes out of cloak. If you could hear his footsteps that tells you nothing about direction. Even knowing what to look for with his current visibility Wraith still surprises experienced players. Relying on hearing his approach does not work for everyone. Not everyone uses headphones and generators are really loud. Players with hearing impairments already play with the odds stacked against them and would probably just DC against totally invisible Wraith.Total invisibility would be too strong.

Adam sucks. No one likes him. He's ugly in design. His perks are trash, yes even Deliverance. He's just a boring survivor. I think he's everyone's least favorite. I never see any Adam players.

Quentin a nd Jeff are neck and neck for least played. I'd also argue that Ace has the worst perks and his design is blah but they gave him a nice wardrobe and he is an OG. Adam does need a new look. His cos have all been garbage so far.

  • @Xboned Hag is fun. Statistically the devs say she gets the most kills. If you like to chase though you may want to rethink her. Due to her movement speed she can be easily outrun and you should never go into long chases, but you learn to funnel survivors into your traps. I had no idea about her range when I first played her but now I know how to better counter her as a survivor. I started out playing trapper. I watched a ton of killer games to get some ideas about non-obvious trap setting. It is really gratifying to have someone step in your trap.

On the other hand killers like Freddy have been hard for me to play because of managing all his different powers. Yikes, I need some more experience. I don't like playing against Nurses or Spirits so I am not going to touch those guys anytime soon.

I'm like this myself. To be honest killer is not stressful at all in the lower ranks. Since I don't play killer past Rank 15 I don't think we've really experienced what it means to be a stressed-out killer.

I find killer fun, I'd play it more if I the queues weren't so long. But I think I'm a survivor-main through and through. The game is just better for me as survivor, even with all the camping and tunneling and instadowns and moris.

Yeah, I hear red ranks is stressful but I played before the patch and as a beginner killer I had a ton of purple and green rank survivors and a few red rank survivors too. Usually managed 1 or 2 sacrifices. I guess coming from a survivor side mindset I'm not too pressed about 4king. I just want my blood points and to level up my killer to unlock perks.

  • I'm like this in reverse, survivor main trying out killer. So far I have only found one game truly stressful, when I got matched with a squad of flashlight warriors. I like to eat pallets especially early game. It is when they don't throw them for 3 or 4 loops that I get frustrated. Currently I am maining hag so looping isn't as much of a problem for me. I find killer more intense but less frustrating than being left on the damn first hook while everyone runs out the door.

Good on you, I do believe everyone should try both sides and there would be more understanding about the frustrations on both sides instead of finger-pointing.

In general: If a person insults another person, they are showing their disrespect. The other person's reaction is not relevant to determine whether this behaviour was disrespectful or not.

You say the devs allow it like it is an issue. Killer mains have been complaining about it since the start of the game, just like survivor main's complain about camping. One having an actual effect of gameplay and yet still being acceptable by devs. What we got on the forum is people with hurt feelings, which has no bearing on the game unless you as a player allow it. Btw I don't tbag, but I do get bagged as killer and when playing against gf.

  • @NoShinyPony said:

Tbagging is a way for survivors to mock you as the killer and show their disrespect. The devs allow it. So the best thing you can do is ignore it.

Tbagging is a player invention for a necessary mechanic in the game. I get teabagged from ghostfaces all the time. I find it funny. You can only be disrespected if you allow it in this instance.

  • I hope they have at least one more survivor in store to get cos, they did this last year too with Trapper, Billy, Wraith, Huntress, and Doc getting cos and only Claudette and Dwight getting something. Also, the cos for Claudette and Dwight weren't even that great. It doesn't seem fair at all.

  • When Gideon's Meatplant first came out I hated it. I hated the heartbeat on both levels, not being able to find gens and especially the wide open spaces up top. However, I learned my way around the map and can lose a killer pretty decently or at least hold them off a bit while 1-2 gens pop. Hawkins and Lery's on the other hand are just too confusing and have too many doors/hallways where you can be cut off. Sure there are a lot of windows but 3x as many doors that force you to look in too many directions while doing a gen. On the game at least I can get an angle on most gens that is just two entrances.

Aesthetically Hawkins is cool to look at but the upper floor is a deathtrap and I don't like going on the catwalks at all.

  • Just finished playing hag on xbone. I rarely see her when I am playing survivor. Also rarely see wraith, doctor, nurse, huntress or clown. On pc I rarely see doctor, hag, clown or legion. Also I can't say I miss any of these killers but wraith. I wish ghostface was on the list

  • Unplayable lag such as teleporting into objects, outside of buildings, upstairs from downstairs. The two times I strongly suspected a lag switcher on pc, and Doc on Gideons. I played a few games with Doc there and it was miserable, lengthy and frustrating. I refuse to listen to Doc madness sounds for 30 minutes and snap out of madness every 20 seconds.

  • No, would result in even more slugging than there already is, would undermine flip flop and would decrease the odds survivors wiggle free which is rare enough outside beginner's games. If you chose to take a survivor to a ' better hook' you run the risk of losing them. This game is full of risks and rewards. The surprises attributed to this risk keep it fun.

  • I hate when people DC and ruin the game for everyone else. But I refuse to play against a doctor on Gideon's so you know... It's rare but I've done it about twice so far.

I find Decisive Strike to be very annoying with how much power it has over killers

Now note I rarely if ever tunnel because I value being a good host and I know how bloody irritating it is to be camped. Not exactly a thrilling gameplay experience

That said it is still incredibly irritating when your in a situation where you really need a sacrifice to gain some pressure and the unhooked survivor just did something really stupid like self-care under the hook or run right into you and you can't pick them up all because of one little perk, even worse is when they have a key and you have to just stand there and wait

    For 60 seconds

Because you know you'll get outplayed by a white box. Luckily for the most part my playstyle generally counters Decisive Strike and Borrowed Time because I always go for the unhooked or other survivors. I get more points that way, I spread the pain, and everyone generally has more fun that way. But the times when Decisive Strike rears it's ugly head and forces me to have to play around it

Yeah, it's really freaking irritating. I just think it's kind of stupid a single perk has that much power but I can't judge much I suppose. It's particularly annoying at EGC where a gate's open and you down the last survivor that just got unhooked and there's a pretty good chance he'll get a free escape just because of DS

Anyway needlessly silly rant about a perk that looks like a pizza slice over

So where is the hypocrite part in this rant?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Pretty much anything in this game lets you do <X> faster through some method, whether it be it be perks for both sides, add-ons for both sides, or items like tool boxes, medkits, or even a key/moris letting you basically skip huge chunks of your objective.

Better than anything I could have said. There are mechanics on both sides that let you skip, ignore, or advance an objective and therefore save time. Do we want to see it every round? No. Can we control how often we encounter these things? Also no.

  • Right now I am grinding so I go into it for the bloodpoints. I don't care what the definition of winning is in the Merriam-Webster dictionary. If I leave a match either killer or survivor with 20k bp or more, I call that a win.

  • I would never bully a killer, but I must say I hate Spirit with a deep passion. Half her skill is outplaying yourself because you have no idea where she is phasing to, whether she is standing still or vaulting until it is too late. Spirit with prayer beads makes me instantly want to DC, though I never do. I don't care that Spirit is good. Nurse is good but I enjoy playing against her more. Spirit is just REALLY unfun to go against, like a pre-change Legion. I'm hoping the perk Fixated will open up some potential for mind games against her for a change.

  • I have friends on PC I can play with but I mostly play by myself in spurts because you control your time. By that I mean, I don't have to wait for others to ready up, stop talking, come back from a bathroom break, check on dinner, all the things people do in between games and they don't have to wait on me. I can stop playing within an hour or two or pick it up later without feeling guilty about not playing long enough. Also, I can loop better when I don't have to talk. I'm not a great multi-tasker, so a joke at a bad time will probably get me killed.

  • I'm a survivor main, who plays the occasional killer and it doesn't have to be for daily rituals. Since my killer remains around the low levels and I have an unfair advantage of knowing more about the game than new players I usually hook everyone once, get some chase points and let them go. It's been over a year since I first started playing this game and I still remember the horror of newbie survivors barreling in to save me off hook with a hag trap at my feet. I think an occasional game like the ones I do, provides some relief from the grind of getting out of low ranks, and I wish more killers did it.

  • @FireHazard said:

Nobody is ever satisfied in this community.

    Nobody...

Right. Good thing the devs don't try to please everyone. Impossible.

  • I've seen this multiple times now. Killer closes hatch in survivors face after letting them crawl or run to it. Then they carry survivor to the exit gate and yank them off once they touch it or right after they open the gate. Also, killers that picks up and spam drops a crawling survivor at the open door of the exit gate during EGC until they die by the entity.

  • I'm with you OP. Lery's is a horrible map for survivors. Unless you play a lot and know each corner to cut because killers usually do. It is still confusing to find gens after all this time. I actually started to learn Gideon's so I'm comfortable on that map, but Lery's is still a hot mess. Too many doors. I'll reserve judgment though, for the new map.

It's simple - in after game chat survivors tend to be cry babies and get it out of their system cause there is an echo chamber built in with other survivors present, but In forums killers tend to be the cry babies to get it out of their system.

This is PvP. Your opponent doesn't give a ######### if you think they're skilled or not. The fact that you lost already objectively proves you're worse than they are.

False. Even a broken watch is right twice a day. If you want to play scummy as a killer you can achieve a kill over a survivor but that doesn't make you a better player. And by scummy I'm not talking about tunneling.

  • Tunneling is effective, but as a result more survivor builds are hardcore against a tunneler; instant heals, DS, DH, and flashlights are being brought into the game more often. I personally am working to get DS on all the mains in my rotation. I heard the vanilla game experiment was a terrible experience for most survivors because they had no counter to tunneling and camping which was rampant. For me I don't mind tunneling in the odd game, but it can often feel like every killer does it. When it becomes the norm, it is a frustrating experience. Tunneling game after game after game is where it becomes tedious. You don't get other objectives done and the survivor usually depips ( I dont' care) or has low bp (I do care) even if you manage to run the killer for a good amount of time. Also, it matters where you are tunneled, even a good survivor cannot loop with nothing to work with. If the killer is on you the minute your feet hit the ground and there isn't even a pallet nearby there isn't much you can do. I had one game that epitomized tunneling for me. Ran a Spirit for about 2 gens worth from the start of the match. ( No flashlight, medkit, toolbox, key, or tbagging at pallets.) She hooked me. Three survivors came in to save me at the same time (weird, I know) and they healed me up. The Spirit returned. All four of us where there, full health state. Who did she go after? Yeah, that's tunneling.

  • Personally, I feel better having saved a survivor off the hook in a difficult situation than putting him on one. I've started to play more killer on xbox, I play only survivor on PC because I'm a controller gamer. Usually when I play killer I hook everyone once and let them go. It's just more fun to me, and since I'm not at higher levels I have some mercy on low ranks that are pretty new to the game. We all get bp, have fun and move on. I could care less if the entity is displeased. Also, I am not a fan of 1st person pov.

  • A mindgame spirit.

1.) Prayer beads is ridiculous and should be removed or have a drawback to using them.

    2) She needs a vault animation.

  • It is insconsistent and people will deny it. I've been face to face with him, full body in view, dead center on my screen and he's still got the stalk. I fear this will just be the way he is.

Because whilst you make a list you think is important, someone with the opposing view can make another list which they think is important. What reason would there be to claim your list would be more significant than theirs?

Back in 2017, someone started a thread on the Steam forum listing 'all nerfs to survivor since release' and it was ridiculed for the very-loose definition of 'nerf' that had to be implied to include many of the things on it. In response, another thread was started listing 'all nerfs to killer since release' and a point was made of using the exact same standards established by the original thread. The killer list though dwarfed the survivor one and survivors gave up maintaining their list not long after. The creator of the killer nerf list still updates it.

Depending on your standards, that is quantative and qualitative proof that the game is very much not better for killers. Changes to the game do not happen in a vaccum; a list cherry-picking changes which nominally benefit killers ignore changes that are inconvenient and maybe cancel-out other changes.

You completely missed my point. I'm not saying that the game is Killer-sided. The OP is saying its survivor-sided. I'm pointing out at list of my own to counter his list of changes that have been made that dramatically increased the quality of gameplay for killers. I'm saying that they are attempting to balance the game which means nerfs and buffs on both sides. And many killer mains from when the game first came out have said that it is much easier than it once was. The game will 'NEVER' be balanced because it is only balanced in the personal opinions of the players which will not all agree.

  • I've experienced this playing solo a lot. I'm usually the one that goes for saves, but I don't rush hook. I played a game a while back at rank 9 where no one did any saves but me the entire game and I wasn't saving right away. I think it is a combination of wanting to get a gen done, and and an increase in camping killers. If you run to hook save quite a bit you realize that most of the time you are switching places with the hooked survivor. Even if kindred doesn't reveal a camping killer mobile killers like nurse, hillbilly and spirit usually can come back right away. I wish more survivors realized letting your teammate die right away is almost certainly your own death.

  • If you used to play the game since the beginning how can you have missed all the ways it's gotten easier for killers.

    1.) Less pallets

    2.) Closing infinite loops down

    3) Removal of pallet vacuum

    4.) Nerf to Vaulting

    5.) Exhaustion nerf

    6.) MoM nerfed

7.) Buff to killers like Wraith, Trapper, slight buff to Spirit, Huntress and now total Freddy rework

    8.) Nerf to gen cooperation

    9.)Nerf to Leader

10.) Hatch can be closed now

    11.) EGC

12.) Loud/additional survivor sounds including louder footfalls to make them easier to track

I could go on.... And by saying this I'm not saying its Killer-sided. It's no one-sided. They are attempting to balance the game. Right now it is just in the killer's favor more often than not, but the tide may turn.

1 … 11 12 13 14 15 … 17
