Ok a few things as I'm an actual survivor main.
I'm mostly fine with the patch. If your in a swf nothing seems to be to major in difference.l from before accept that gens take longer. Im glad killers got buffed if I'm being honest. However solo definitely was screwed over the most by this patch and should have gotten something
I'm also skeptical of the many claims people are making about Dead Hard. Were the people who uses it and "relied" on it really no skill survivors. Because from what I have seen and experienced I seen mostly good survivors get use out of it. And bad players barely get use out of it by dead harding into a wall or our in the open where it will do nothing. I think people were more frustrated by thr good players who used it then the bad players since I have seen the opposite of what people claim to be true. I could be wrong but I'm not sure.
Im extremely annoyed this patch undeniably buffed camping and tunneling when it was supposed to reduce it. I bought into the lie that killers camped and tunneled because gens were too fast. But now that things have been slowed down with an increase in gen times and new slowdown perks they continued to do so. And survivors didn't adequately get things that addressed the issue of camping and tunneling. A 5 second bt can easily be waited out and survivors are still relegated to use perks to counter it. It's even more annoying that ds was nerfed to near uselessness.
All in all everything is mostly fine but could be better.

I love everyone released until December of 2018, which basically translates to "all killers that were here when I started playing".
As for the killers I hate: Ghostface, Trickster and Blight.
You hate Ghostface too?? Best friends :)
As for op I love going against blight and absolutely louth Ghostface. Every one else is just a mild annoyance or fine.

Sure old iron will can come back with the addition of a new perk "Killing Will". An uninjured survivor does not see the red stain. If you say that's broken/kills mind games entirely I am curious to hear how that is different from making injured survivors 100% mute
I don't think hiding read stain is that strong in chase. If that was the case Beast of pray would be meta but it's not
-
This is karma for breaking the artist heart.
(Just kidding)
I'm sorry you can't play against spirit
-
It would probably be better if they make the rummage mechanic apart of the perk to ensure you can still use it even if someone else opens the chest

Dead Hard this and Dead Hard that... what about the ones of us who didn't use Dead Hard?
I was already using the same build I'm using now (Just changed inner strength for prove thyself), so what was carrying me to a MMR where I did not belong? Kindred? Bond? Lithe? My build was not nerfed in any way.
It's not about Dead Hard. It's about increased gen times (80 to 90) and killers still stacking slowdowns, plus chases being nerfed (breaking pallets faster, 2 stacks of STBL basekit, survivors speed boost after hit reduced, bloodlust 2 and 3 buffed.
All those things by themselves don't seem like a lot, but them changing all of that at the same time in a single update, it does stack and made things worse.
Solo Q was in a already not great spot, and now it's even worse.
Mentioning dead hard is like a broken record. It's starting to become just a cheap way to dismiss any argument or criticism of the patch that it needs.
" oh your complaining? You just got carried by dead hard"
It's annoying
-
Most of the updates is fine if your in a swf. Even I would admit that I overreacted. But Solo definitely got no part of the stick. Not even the short end.
But it's undeniable that camping and tunneling was buffed this patch and the basekit additions to handle that is ineffective. They need to do something to adequately addressed camping and tunneling
-
If im bring honest I wouldn't want this. Non of the other boons other then coh is powerful enough to warrant this effect
-
I disagree sprint burst and overcome is better

Ayy, thanks for mentioning me <3
You're absolutely right, my friend. With the exception of that pesky EGC, everything that concerns the good old days is of great interest to me!
And those Endgame chats though... forever one of the saltiest communities out there, eh?
No problem friendo. I know you would probably enjoy some nostalgic memories
-
@GeneralV would love this post probably
-
Is this another annoying strawman "can't get carried by dead hard" argument?
-
There are two problems I have with the changes
1. Camping and tunneling.
No one can argue that camping and tunneling didn't get buffed this patch. With the additional 50 seconds total on gens plus other slowdown perks buffed doing gens take too long. And because of that the killer has no problem with camping and tunneling to get easier wins. Even if you don't tunnel or get tunneled often the potential to do do is still there. And to handle this issue survivor got a miniscule 5 seconds bt. Thats not really going to help. I'm convinced that if a killer runs multiple slowdowns and camp and tunnel they are always going to win. Because what else can the survivors do??
2. Meta change
I'm greatly disappointed by the meta change. Sure survivors got off the record to deal with tunneling but the issue I have is that we are still having to bring perks to deal with base game issues that should have been fixed with the patch. Otr is just ds under a different name which I would argue is arguably worse them ds. Not to mention alot (but not all) the other survivor perk buffs did nothing to increase usage since the buffs either did nothing or made the perks worse. I want to experiment more with different perks not have the same perks over and over again. And sure the meta might be slightly different now but how long until the meta gets stale again?
The other changes I'm fine with but these are the issues I have with it

While I was watching it I was also in pain. It was so long due to pain resonance and gift of pain

It's not good but it's better tthan nothing especially as no killer expects in now. I'd personally make DS basekit and change the perk like I said in the above comment.
I want longer games where multiple hooks across all players is encouraged and rewarded
I would say it should be back to 5 seconds
I want longer games with multiple hooks too but camping and tunneling is the antithesis of that. They have to make something better that discourages tunneling and camping and being a somewhat unviable strategy outside of endgame

I mean it's not.. it gets you to a pallet unless it's a dead zone and even then youd be dead with 5seconds.. plus is all about wasting the killers time.
And perks arent boring they just arent op...
5 seconds gave survivors a chance at least.
3 seconds is not good at all
-
The issue is that solo is even worse and camping and tunneling wasn't adequately addressed and with the baseline increase in gens and new slowdowns its an even more viable strategy.
It's unfair and can get the killer easy wins

How did 5 second BT fix tunneling?
How did gen regression get nerfed when gens are now 90 seconds and other gen regression perks got buffed and are just as oppressive?
I think they are being forced to say this.

First of all, you should have given your title more information. The title of your post should have read "Why are survivors still using self-care?" not just "self care". Be descriptive in your post if you want meaningful discourse. Secondly, you haven't given any information to us. You just assume everyone agrees with your point of view. You seem surprised that people still use self-care. Why? What is your position? You clearly must think using self-care is a bad thing, but since you won't tell us why, you're relying on the reader to do ALL the heavy lifting here. You basically came to the forums, took a squat in the middle, and crapped out a nice glistening mudpie which you titled "self-care" and expected us to run amok discussing the finer points of the perk.
Use your words like a big boy and start a real conversation or piss off.
Damn why you coming at them for?

Swf feels fine. I'm willing to admit there is a bit of an overreaction. I'm just concerned about camping and tunneling and how killers are still doing it dispute gen speeds being slower

It's also not fun when a killer hooks a survivor, then walks around but doesn't find any of the other survivors because they are all hiding. So the killer is encouraged to just go back to the hook, and tunnel the survivor off the hook. If survivors are hiding from the killer, it's their fault too if a killer camps and tunnels.
Walk around? How far did the killer walk 2 feet from the hook?
Killers has an assortment of tracking perks, addons and even basekit powers and with a bit of a nerf to survivors stealth it should be completely possible to find survivors.

Camping being an issue I can understand, but why would you want to deal with tunneling? Aren't chases and looping the best part of the game? There is nothing wrong with the killer tunneling.
Your misunderstanding a bit. Sure chases are fun but it's not fun to be the only one chased. I want to experience the whole game that includes doing gens, being altruistic and stealthing, not just chases.
Then there are certain killers that can tunnel better then others making things even more annoying.
Tunneling is mostly fine but survivors don't have the tools needed to deal with it which is a problem since it can completely lose the game for the entire time if it happens early
-
But what about perk verity??
I thought the point of the meta shake up is to make survivors used different perks not perks that they are required to run?
-
I just want there to be more adequate ways to deal with camping and tunneling as promised
-
I have changed my position a bit. It's absolutely ridiculous. Im annoyed how Killers are just stacking slowdown perks and camp and tunnel still. Why???
And survivors barely get any compensation for it.
Something needs to change
-
No thank you

So it's ok for one survivor perk to negate two killer powers and four perks for an entire trial? I don't agree. And that's coming from a survivor main.
Edit: typo.
That implies that the killer powers won't work at all. With doctor sure it hard to detect survivors but survivors still get the madness effect and it can still be used mid chase to deny looping. With clown the scream doesn't matter that often since the only important parts are the obscured vision and hindread. You can remove the scream and it won't effect anything not that I can see.
The effect of removing screaming doesn't seem that major to warrant a 90 second cooldown. That's way to long
-
Data might not lie but the people can change the data to suit any agenda they wish.

How do you feel about a 90-second cooldown after avoiding a scream or alerting a crow? Or how would you fairly nerf it?
That's a terrible change

People ran the perk before its recent change. And they were very often the survivors that wanted to hide the entire match.
I barely saw anyone running it before the change. I'm sure a few did but It wasn't meta so you didn't see it a lot

Yeah it has a limited duration that can be charged but all of those charges really matter. I would argue that not getting revealed 3-4 times + having knowledge about which perks the killer has is way more important than, how many times do you usually proc the crows in a match again? 5-6 times or something? And i mean vastly better mate.
Sometimes killers don't even pay attention to crows. I have had multiple instances in which I disturbed a crow while trying to hide the killer still didn't find me.
And if the killer did find me it was because of other things like scratch marks or grunts. Not disturbing crows is not that good of an effect imo

Distortion has a limited duration, and it needs to be refilled. It’s not a permanent aura blocking, that works the entire game non stop.
if people really believed that calm spirit was weak, then they wouldn’t care if it got a downside. The fact that people care that it got a downside, proves they also realize that removing crows the entire game is a meaningful effect worth playing.
No. Nobody ran the perk because it was so niche.
People are complaining about the downside because they made a niche perk even more bad when thr purpose was to buff it to be good
-
I definitely want more left for dead content
You can get Louis as adam
Nick for Ace
Maybe Jonah for coach
And maybe some zombie skins for killers
Plague van be a spitter
Legion can probably be a hunter
Artist or spirit as a witch
Maybe oni as a tank or charger.
They definitely can put more

In the past when you played killer, there we're mathces that no matter how good you played, there was just nothing you could do to outpressure survivors using these perks that played just as good as you or better.
So there we're matches where you had no chance as a killer, dead hard could single handedly make a chase last twice as long acting like an extra health state.
Ds was the best second chance perk that was basically an extra hook for the killer to deal with.
Iron Will could easily throw a killer off and lose you a whole chase.
Ds was used as a way to prevent tunneling something that was extremely prevalent and still prevalent now
Iron will is a stealth perk used to help with misdirection. The survivors should have a way to escape chase since that's what they are supposed to do.
Dead hard I can agree needed to be changed.
Buy even before these changed using these perks was not bullying the killer. You basically saying that anyone who used these perks at all was bullying the killer which is untrue.
-
We love generalizing every survivor :) every survivor just wanted to bully the killer.
And really using perks like Dead Hard iron will and ds was bullying the killer? So when killers use strong perks they are bullying survivors?
-
Only if we also have her say period when she kills someone

Mate the term "crutch" describes something someone overrelies on that singlehandedly carries them to a level of play they should not yet be on.
It is an universal term that can be used for both sides respectively.
And the reason why you saw so many more people complain about Survivors here is because Dead Hard was probaply the biggest crutch in DbD history with the only thing being even comparable to it being Nurse (who is complained about very frequently), so it's obvious that you're gonna see more complaints about that.
Literally no one is going to fight you when saying that something like an Omegablink Nurse stacking 4 slowdown Perks is using crutches to win - because she is. (there are going to be some ofc, but we also had some call DH balanced so...)
I'm curious will I get the same reaction if I apply it to killers?
For now I will retract my us vs them post. Sorry

Nice Us VS Them posts.
They are not accurate at all, but I'll go out on a limb here and say that was never the intention behind them anyway.
That's weird because I only see killers use the word crutch only at survivors and not the other way around.
Why's that
