Some survivors are only focused on generators.
They have more time now, even if they tend to overestimate it.
On one of my matches tonight, I had hooked 3 survivors before the fourth one finished his generator and went for a rescue.
If I had played nasty, he would never have reached that hook and the game would have been over. (But I was playing the event, not trying to sweat for points or something.)
-
Mind-games barely changes.
From the top of my head, the killers that have been changed enough to affect the way they are played.
Well, it's basically Freddy, by far. I expect the Skull Merchant will soon join him.
On a smaller level, there are also: Doctor (somewhat), Billy (got gutted for a while, I don't remember what was done to him), Spirit (can't roll the dice on a pallet anymore), Nurse (blink attacks were made special, effectively disabling a whole panel of perks and associated tactics).
(I may be forgetting something but it's 00:40)
-
The META isn't just the perks, it also goes with the tactics one uses with the perks.
Most Efficient Tactic Available : it's in the name.
-
It's disgusting against slower killers otherwise it's fine.
-
I'm putting a comment here so I find it back tomorrow.
Thanks.

Well that makes sense, but who would DC after waiting 10mins for a match XD
I got kicked from the killer role after having waited for 17 minutes, right while I was entering the game.
I went to bed right after that.

Well if I started playing killer everyone will just be like "you're not in high mmr yet." When I started playing this game I played.pretty much all killer fpr hundreds of hours, but apparently I wasnt in high mmr. So I just want to know how long do I have to play getting mostly 3 and 4k's until I am "high mmr."
Usually if you get something like a 50 merciless streak on one single killer, you'd be sure get high enough MMR. (I doubt you'll need that many but MMR isn't too reliable.)
(Never give hatch, it'll slow you down.)
It needs to be on a single killer though, as you probably know, you have a different MMR per killer. Chose a good one for this experiment. I don't recommend the Nurse though, unless you feel you are proficient enough with her.
Don't hesitate playing harshly either, whatever is needed to win: go all in.
The reason we are so sure survivors will wipe the floor with you (lowering your MMR, giving you easier ones) is because any proficient killer here has experienced it.
I play both roles but on the killer side I play mostly the Nurse. I've got more than 40K registered blink attacks with her (that's a bit more than five years's worth) so I'm quite decent.
I still get my ass kicked regularly. A bad map, a group with perks/tactics that aren't a good fit for me … it's pretty easy to lose. And that's without having to chase all players who know how to exploit every single weakness of that killer. (Usually Nurse main themselves.)
Good luck.

Why would they need killer bots there. It would be completly counter productive when the q is already 10mins.
They had bots in 2vs8. If a killer was DCing, he was being replaced by a bot.
-
I've read most of the arguments, from everybody.
It boils down to a thing: inexperience and misunderstanding of statistics. (Plus the naivety of taking top players as example, ignoring the same top players of the opposite side)
If you believe a role is easy and want to back it up, just play that role and keep winning.
I guarantee you whatever role you chose, you'll learn relatively fast that you were wrong.
On another hand, if you don't want to "show us" then don't expect being taken seriously.
Me? I don't believe any role is easy. It's fine though.

https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/429805/how-would-a-mimic-killer-even-work
I've posted about this before. The way to make a mimic killer work is to give a power that lets you "infect" a survivor, without any visual cue that the survivor is infected. The "spy" survivor wouldn't know they were on your side. While infected, the killer would see their aura, as well as any survivors near them. The killer could activate the power again to "emerge" from the infected survivor, allowing them to ambush other players near the "spy". To prevent tunneling, the killer cannot injure the spy. Hitting the infected cancels the infection but doesn't damage the survivor.
Tldr: Make a mimic killer work by having the "mimic" be an actual player who doesn't know they're the mimic. The only question is how to infect discretely. I suggest traps since they favor stealth anyways.
That's an idea.
In a movie, the survivor himself would hit his teammates.
-
Weird. My queue times both as killer and as survivor are pretty fast.
Also, remember the incentive isn't for a role but for a role in your MMR bracket.
It's a personal thing.
-
Related to mimicry, I've just remembered a couple stories that happened to me.
Long ago I was playing a female Legion. I had a white mask not unlike the white full-face one Meg recently got and my vest was about the same color too … I think. (If you remember when she got the skin, you'll know when it happened.)
At some point I don't have a terror radius anymore (Dark Devotion or something) and I come to a survivor doing a gen. To my surprise she doesn't run and instead "salutes" me with a crouch. Then she goes back on the gen. I'm puzzled but then it hits me: she thought I was the meg with that similar skin.
I wonder her reaction when I grabbed her. 😄
…
And more recently, as survivor, I went against a Skull Merchant in Lery.
Looking for a gen, I crossed the path of what looked to me like a human (no terror radius) and I saw, way too late, that I was running straight to the killer. 😅
It didn't end well. 😏
We need a mimic.

Ironic how you completely admit that slugging is becoming the meta and want people to examine why that is… when the rise in WGLF is directly caused by the rise in Slugging meta. Apparently we only want to examine route causes when it benefits the killer.
As this thread has clearly exposed, killers slug because it’s ’optimal Play’.
You say that as if you have discovered a deeply buried secret.
I don't think any reasonable player has ever said otherwise. Slugging, especially recently, is often the best move. (Not always.)
The one critique of slugging that's an exaggeration is the one stating that the four-slug-bleed-out is both done out of spite and common.
It happens, rarely, and is largely the result of severe misplays from the survivors. It's almost never out of spite and when it happens it's because it was the right move at the time.
Usually, the killer starts hooking after the four-slug, unless survivors are hiding. (Or the rare case of a jerk.)

This one here speaks the truth! This is the main problem, that we never deviced a system that encourages the killer to spread hooks and possibly also keeping survivors alive instead of killing them off.
This could only work via a system of sizable debuffs that get applied to "snuff out all hope" by The Entity, while still keeping some hope of escape alive. Only when 4 alive survivors at 8 hooks is more valuable then two dead survivors, will this ever change.
But BHVR has this wild fascination with two things: 1) everything should always be available with no restrictions, thus severely limiting designspace for perks, because a perk that works an Trapper also works on Nurse, and 2) that you can't punish people for playing good, thus there shall be no comeback mechanic or game director AI.
And I thin the game would benefit immensely from both.
Technically they've already made many perks not work on Nurse anymore by simply making her blink attacks special.
That even disabled Franklin that used to be so fun to use on Nurse.
And yes, technically Nurse can still use Franklin by not blinking but that's not a realistic use of Nurse.

- WGLF is abused for other purposes other than "slugging" at it's current state, which is overtuned, especially when combined with perks like FTP or MFT.
- since slugging is now main meta and vast majority of most vocal people in this community has completely linear view of metas, without thinking "ohh, but why is strategy X becoming meta?", let me tell you one thing. When anti-slugging becomes main meta, less people will run anti-tunneling builds, which will lead to hard tunneling becoming main meta again, and with every constant anti slugging ←→ anti tunneling meta shift, this is going to be the case until the core problem in this game is addressed. That problem are HOOKS. There is no more a proper incentive for killers to not only spread hooks, but also hook people. I don't want to repeat the whole story behind hooking and spreading hooks being completely discouraged by the game, and there has to be the way to encourage hooking and spreading hooks again. Unfortunately, this vocal part of the community doesn't care about problems getting fixed for both sides because they look at the balance issues in this game through rose-tinted glasses for the side they main.
Sounds about right.

I remember the time, though, when everything was manually and it was so painful.
After the grades reset a bloodpoint spending session could easily last 45-60min and it was such a slog.
Indeed. I'm already grateful for the steep acceleration.
However I still spend minutes that I could use playing.
And I can't really do it while queuing because they are so fast.
-
Maybe if the focus was not set on kills and personal escapes, some of these will not feel as easily discouraged.
- Killers should go for hooks.
- Survivors should go for most escapes. (If even that. A successful chase or successfully hiding should be rewarded.)
But I don't believe that's the majority.
Maybe also if map offerings were removed; because I've seen people dropping from a map if their offering didn't work.
Another point against offerings is that most of the time, the first one to give up is the one who has brought the offering and still couldn't last in a chase.
The first one to give up is also often the highest prestige. (I blame misplaced ego.) These deserve to lose more.
That's just from the top of my head.

AT least we should get an option to "spend Blood Points till they are gone" and then it just blasts through 2 million BP in 2min.
Ideally We should also get the option to chose "go cheap", "go expensive" or "always buy Iridescent add-ons".
In my wildest, bloodpoint addled dreams, we get 5 slots that we can fill in order of importance for the five add-ons or items that the auto-blood-web should look for.
That'd be so good.
I find the time I waste dumping a million BP so boring. (And for once, on this forum, "boring" really means "boring" and not "too difficult".)

As long as the killer appears to each survivor as a copy of one of their other team mates, it could still sow some chaos in a SWF. It would have them second guessing who's who, particularly if they're grouped up and you're there with them. Think back to xmas snowmen.
But it wouldn't be enough of a power on it's own, more of a secondary power.
Yes, you are perfectly right IMHO.
I've often wondered how to make such a killer as this would be soooo fun.
Maybe it should mimic also as another killer, minus the power, so the survivors would not immediately know what to expect.
Or its "power" would be to have a fake killer moving around while he's busy backstabbing survivors.
I'm thinking that maybe that mimic/hit power should be accompanied by some cooldown, or being teleported to the "fake killer" or something ….

From what I remember, it's too late to add in a match replay system now, it would have had to been originally coded back in 2016. They'd basically have to recode the game from scratch to add it.
I don't believe it's true. They are using the Unreal Engine (v5.x now, I believe).
Adding a dedicated code recording respective inputs, positions, orientations and activated perks each tick is relatively easy. (They are neatly available in AActor instances)
The amount of generated data may be a bigger issue as they have a massive amount of players on each platforms.
But they would only have to keep the data when a complain is made … which may still be a lot given people complain for bad reasons too.
The tricky part, IMHO, would be the part that plays the recorded match back. That's not trivial, but it remains in the realm of doable.

Oh btw, I'm not typing: "GG" in any pvp game that I play since 2018 or 2019. It was exactly the moment I found out that a lot of players don't like it\find it sarcastic. If the match was good for me - doesn't mean it was good for them, so I think typing: "gg" is just wrong and actually can be viewed as a sarcasm.
Usually, when my opponents were playing really good, I'm typing: "Well played, guys". And not even: "wp", typing the whole sentence.
When my opponents were playing dirty\unfair (bug abuse)\highly disrespectful - I'm not typing anything and silently leaving from the lobby.

No, I disagree - as a "social creatures" in most cases people just want to express themselves to others. Yes, sometimes they do that not in a very good manner, but it shouldn't concern the other side too much, coz it's just an "internet's bad talk".
On other occasions people want to simply compliment others, ask them for how long they've been playing, or maybe even ask them for a party to play with. It happened to me so many times, when I was playing survivor, and after a match other teammates that I played with were asking me if I want to play with them in a group. It happens to everyone 100%, without end-game chat - players wouldn't care too much trying to find a person to write a pm.
Having chat isn't always bad at all. Some people are not expressing themselves not in nice form is just an inevitable con, but again, it shouldn't concern anyone on the internet.
Saying gg is polite and being a good sport.
Only sore losers and the perpetually offended could react negatively to it.
If you try to please that kind of people, you'll end up not being able to say "good day" because what if they are not having a good day ? (and they probably arent).
Then instead you'll say "greetings" until someone finds that offensive.
It'll never end.
Let's keep being polite and a good sport.

Well I can, and let me tell you, it hurts. When they don't DC or give up, even if we had a good match, they are not nice in post game chat. It makes me want to curl up into a ball and cry. They tell me to hang myself in post game chat, to get cancer, and to die. They also mock me and humiliate me. And that makes me want to cry too. But you know what? I'm still going to play her. And I don't even BM or play mean at all. It makes me very sad. I just like the stealth and the scans and think she's fun.
That's not right. I'd simply report and move on.
I'm rarely getting a bad end game chat.
At most I get a critique if I've played harshly, which I only do as an answer to my opponents doing it first. So my reply is easy.
-
A couple of days ago I was complimenting my opponent and got censored.
I said something like "You were the only one right on point during the whole match" and it gave "You were the only one ##### ## ##### during the whole match".

Honestly I definitely give up myself when I play survivor with that big of a mismatch. If it’s 8 hooks and 5 gens why even bother? There is literally zero reason to continue. When I play killer i like to back off if I’m doing too well. Blowouts are unbearably boring.
Backing off doesn't really work, unless I go hide on a corner and they don't see me doing it.
I've tried slowing down but somehow survivors pick on it and seem to believe it's a signal for farming or something.
I've also tried slugging and dropping in front of a hook, but doing that before two hooks is also wrongly perceived.
The only move that works more consistently is hooking twice, taking care of not killing and checking people are getting unhooked, then only slug so they have more time to do gens.
Most of the time it works fine.
I usually let go several. It's not like the next match will not give me good survivors anyway.

I've played quite a bit of SM and it's absolutely different with her. People DC instantly as soon as they hear your terror radius or see your character. Or stand still and wait for you to hook them. It's off putting that people are taking out their hatred for 3-gen merchant that was in the game a year and a half ago on people playing SM today.
I never play her myself: I've never liked her so I've never even acquired her (and I have over 200k shards).
So I can't experience DC against her.
-
Survivors have been giving up against any killer for any stupid reason.
Don't expect the SM to be an exception.

@Akumakaji said:
Yeah, THIS is actually holding the game hostage. If you can proof that it wasn't just for like 10s or so, then its a hostage holding situation and the guy could get punished for that. Like always, its hard to proof unless you got video footage of the situation, but it can be done.
Personally I think (how it was often suggested in the forums) that you should lose colision once you accumulate crows; this easy fix would solve so many situations where you get sandbagged or imprisoned in a room or even when a survivor and a killer somehow work together and block the exit gate switches. Stuff like this has happened in the past, and if the perpetrator would lose colision once the first crows start appearing, well that would solve most of this situations neatly.
I'm pretty sure someone would find a way to exploit that.
BHVR only needs to make reporting easier and more accurate (e.g. recording games: it's not that difficult to record the map seed and the movements of everyone for 15 minutes, if even that.)
-
I've not played him much since the changes.
I've never been much of a Blight (I only use his power for traversal and opportunity hits) but it did't feel right after whatever change they did.
-
This past couple of years, the only time I had a Bloodwarden proc was during Chaos Shuffle, because "what are the chances" probably.
I'm not using it much anymore though. It's next to useless.
-
That has already been my go-to move for a while now.
Sometimes, after being repeatedly slugged for a while, it even cures the spinless player and he starts playing normally.
I can't stand people giving up.
Fair is fair, I also reward players who don't give up against me when they are obviously outclassed. (e.g. 8 hooks at 5 gens)

You forget about SM and Freddy
They are 115%.
Hag doesn't even have that.
She has traps that can be disabled effortlessly or triggered in a way that makes them useless. And that's usually how a good group will play against her.
If a trap triggers properly and the Hag reacts in time, she loses momentum upon teleporting so unless the survivor is standing still, she can't hit him.
Many times, the "spin" towards the trap that's supposed to disturb survivors isn't even triggering. (Complained about many times by many people.)
She is broken.
The only ones being overwhelmed by her are the newbies.

Agree. I tested it even on my Artist and… well, I got hit, which I could have and without it anyway. Nice to have maybe in Chaos Shuffle, but I won't place it in my usual build. And about Nurse: I've said it's broken on Nurse, but… does good Nurse really needs it? Good Nurse will give hit no matter what with and without this perk.
I should have specified I tried it as a Nurse with 40k registered blink attacks (so at a decent level).
-
I've made a few checks yesterday.
As far as I'm concerned that perk is useless. My usual build is way better and doesn't require me to lose a chase to trigger.
So my initial impression stands: it may be useful for beginners who often lose the survivor in a chase.
-
I usually prefer playing survivor on console as I like the gamepad better for that role. (But I've cancelled my PS subscription so I'll have to find a great gamepad for the PC soon)
For killer, I see no point playing anything else than keyboard + mouse.

A survivor giving up on hook so the last one could find the hatch is also a tactic, but now it'll just guarantee the remaining player will just get mori'd instead. I will compare them.
You got a point. It happens so much a the start and so rarely when it's actually needed I didn't even think about it.

Slugging is a tactic. Don't compare that to the ones killing themselves on hook.
That's a winner vs loser comparison.

Hag is the weakest, most bulliable, most broken, most miserable killer in the game.
She's only good against utter beginners. No decent survivor will do anything else than bully her and make her powerless. (Unless the Hag is Michi but even him doesn't seem to play her as much.)
If anything she needs to be fixed, improved, and buffed.

I'm not the best against a competent Nurse, but always try to break line of sight ASAP or run to somewhere close where that can be done. The perk now completely takes that away or any chance of playing around a structure. It just tells them where you are with no effort.
I'm planning to play quite a bit this weekend so will be messing with all the reworked perks. Will be interesting to see what happens using and going against them.
Breaking line of sight is good. But it doesn't end the chase immediately. So for several seconds you can make distance, preferably not where she expects you to be.
To me, in a chase, that delay is unacceptable. I usually find the survivor before it happens. And if I don't, because of course I can be bamboozled, the time I've wasted tells me to drop the chase go disturb the generators. Besides, given the prevalence of Distortion, I may be waiting for nothing.
The more I think about it, the more I feel it may be a crutch perk for baby Nurses.
I'd rather see a fast-vault (usually combined with Lithe) to get an idea of where the survivor is going. That's way more useful in a chase. (That Ghostface perk I can't recall the name of because I've worked all day and I'm tired.)
I'll try to remember to try the perk if I play this week-end. I'll have to replace a perk of my build and that won't be an easy choice.
-

I was away during the PTB for this and purposely kept off the forums and only started playing again this week after a 3 week total break from the game. As soon as I saw the patch notes I instantly thought that's a huge buff for any half decent Nurse. No doubt the perk won't stay in this state for long because of her.
Before the nerf though, I plan to play Artist to get the down 50 injured survivors with birds trophy. It's been at 10/50 forever. This perk should make it a lot easier!
I disagree it's good for a decent Nurse.
First, you have to lose your survivor. That's a huge assumption when it's based on the Nurse being decent.
Second, I believe it's exactly what "Distortion" is for.
Third, there are way better perks to use in a chase that do not require the Nurse to lose a survivor to be effective.
Time will tell but I as for myself I don't think I'll use it.

seriously, complaining about "devs won't take away Killer agency" in response to a a complaint that the current state of the game can allow a killer to deny a survivor all agency and force them to hold a hook for 140 seconds? reads as someone who thinks survivor players exist as servants to fill your Killer lobbies, absolute disrespect. could not disagree with your perspective more
The survivor is playing the game. He got caught, he hangs. (And can consider himself lucky not to be slugged.)
It's the role of his teammates to coordinate for an unhook, possibly using two players, to get him down. (By opposition to be sitting on gens up to the last second. Thanks to the devs for making this time-out longer by 10 seconds by the way.)
That's called playing the game.
