  • The game goes from frustrating to fun, but overall it's fun.

    1. Pallets and perks aren't your only tools. Your mind, as in mind-game, is an important part of your tool-set. You seldom stand a chance against some killers if you only count on pallets and a few good perks. Granted, it appears many players are so used to the plethora of second-chance perks they never learn how to actually play.
    2. I disagree. I've almost never used "meta" perks and my builds are still as efficient and fun (unless the killer has a counter perk, but they mostly don't). I still get a lot of fun when I manage to escape a killer mid-chase, hiding in plain sight.
    3. Unless you've missed it, killers also have cool-downs on their better perks and powers. Apparently, you also fail to realize you are a team of four. That's sixteen perks against the killer. This is not 1vs1: it's 1vs4. (And, 3 times faster that survs? What do you even mean?)
    4. There are plenty of decent anti-tunneling perks. Earlier today a killer was complaining about it because he did want to tunnel and never could. Both complaints are wrong.
    5. My teams have long stopped playing the game, the first one because their favorite killer was nerfed (first Billy nerf), the second one because they got tired of the game. Being the only one left, I mostly play survivor in solo-Q. It's not as fun but it's not nearly as bad as may state. I never DC nor give-up though: that'd be a sure way to be in MMR hell.
    6. When I play survivor, I do my best to get as many survivors out: with, or without me. DS is still decent (but many don't realize they have to carefully chose where to go down) DH is still good (especially against killers like Nurse). Right now I'm more on Overcome.

If you think killer is more fun, just play that side. Let's see how far you can go before complaining about survivors.

  • Congratulations for your orbitals, and no: you don't risk anything by just being reported.

Over the years I've been (allegedly) reported many times by survivors who don't understand the first thing about game sense or don't get how perks are working, sometimes even after I point it to them in the chat.

It has never been an issue.

  • The 2vs8 queue problem, on the killer side, was because many wanted to play killer with someone else.

You could multiply the player count by ten, it wouldn't change that.

  • @Brimp said:

Simple: Just way better to slug at the moment because a bunch of hook perks for killers keep getting nerfed. Knockout prevents the slugged aura from appearing meaning they take longer to find the slug. It actually builds up quite the pressure because you force a person to constantly follow the person being chased but be out of sight not doing a gen to make sure you don't spend minutes trying to find the slug. Way better pressure than to hook someone and get 20% current progression pop or 20% from pain res.

Also with the proposed nerf to dead mans in the ptb… yeah slugging will become a better alternative if that goes live.

And this may be the explanation why that old build may have been used again.

  • That's nothing new. Maybe some streamer has used the build and now copycats are taking it for a spin.

    It will not last.

  • No. It's the best way to help survivors a bit.

A four-bots match should be an automatic killer victory though. There is nothing fun chasing bots.

(Only happened once so far, thankfully)

  • @NerfDHalready said:

hook states are a resource but no-hook survivors still shouldn't take hits or throw themselves at the killer to get some attention, essentially waste time. in such situations i just do gens non stop, especially important and/or risky gens.

Throwing oneself at the killer is not a good way to do it. It is, as you say, a waste of time.

The proper way to do it, when all your teammates have been hooked once or twice, is to keep doing gen so the killer notices you and starts a chase.

That way you've pushed the gen for as long as possible and the killer doesn't think twice about chasing you.

Taking the heat that would inevitably come to another survivor who would end up dead instead is helping the team and improves the chances having as much escapees as possible.

I need to add that if a survivor "throws himself" at me, I tend to ignore the bait: that's why doing naturally is better.

No, your are all wrong. You can't tunnel cuz babysitter, OTC and DS is too strong, you can't afford missing any M2 cuz any chase time should shorter than 1 min. BVHR never nurf surv but give them more and more OP perks.

Yet, as many others, I completely agree with @Rulebreaker.

Some people on this thread are quite experienced. It would do you good to take a step back and think about this again.

In my opinion, in the very first line of your post you are are already making a mistake.

You don't ignore a survivor because another one is on a gen. Statistically up to three of them are on a gen and there is nothing you can do about that. Take your first chase, make it short, get a hook, then assess the situation for your next step. (e.g. using BBQ)

The rest of your post has already been answered to in the first reply so I've got nothing to add about it.

It takes hundreds of hours to get decent at the game and killer has always been more stressful than survivor : killers have no downtime.

(I usually play Claudette to relax after a stressful match.)

    Good luck.

  • You understand the artists are making the skins and the developers are making the program?

So doing both isn't an issue.

  • The Mistress of the Dark cannot be on the survivor side.

    She simply cannot.

  • "Killer mains"

A good chunk of the player base plays both roles. (That's how you get better at the game.)

When I play killer, it hugely depends on what the survivors are doing, or what I think they are doing.

Sometimes I won't even start a chase if I believe I'd better patrol the gens or keep an area under control.

So there is no simple answer to that question.

  • A map offering usually puts me in a foul mood. It'd be nice to be free of them for a while.

If they could change it to something like "don't go to that map", that'd be great. (And maybe if multiple offering, take one at random to say "not to that map")

  • @IIITweedleIII said:

But playing Perkless is alot more fun.

Oh, I don't mind. I regularly play perk-less in the normal game.

But the players that are nowhere on the masochistic scale tend to frown on playing like that, and they give up pretty easily.

  • I just feel I should point out: if the Nurse is able to blink on you and pin-point your location, it means you are either completely exposed in an open area, either utterly predictable.

With more than 42K registered blink attacks, I'm relatively decent at Nurse and yet the survivors I verse know how to exploit every single weakness of the killer.

The usual suggestion here would be to try your hand playing her, win until you don't, and see how experienced survivors wipe the floor with you. Then endeavor to do the same when you verse her.

  • I know reading can be hard for some so let me point out the first word of the name of the mode: "chaos".

    chaos
    /kā′ŏs″/noun
    1. A condition or place of great disorder or confusion.
    2. A disorderly mass; a jumble. The desk was a chaos of papers and unopened letters.
    3. The disordered state of unformed matter and infinite space supposed in some cosmogonic views to have existed before the ordered universe.

So you can expect disorder and confusion.

As for the second and last word, "shuffle", it implies this desirable situation of chaos is caused by the random distribution of something. In this case, the perks.

So it's a mode where people enjoying mindless chaotic fun play with ever-changing random advantages or disadvantages match after match.

    Glad to help.

Question for everyone who feels that they are going against a subtle cheater:

Does it also feel like they give themselves Boil Over when wiggling?

    Boil over?

No: they teleport out of your grasp, making you bug and unable to do anything until they leave the match through the doors.

I will never forget my last Blight match. Two teleporting cheaters (two friends) reported in game and with videos, never banned. (I kept checking their profiles.)

That was also my last cheater report. I won't waste my time anymore.

Now if I get a cheater I close the game immediately and go play another game.

  • @Royval said:

strange. I see hackers every 4-5 months it’s not very common and I’ve been playing since 2018.

I've seen up to 3 obvious cheater per game night, several days a week.

There are more of them at higher MMR. (e.g. I see them a lot as Nurse but almost never as Trapper.)

  • If only survivors could bring flashlights, med-kits and toolboxes …

    Oh … wait …

  • How about perfect silence while you focus on listening the breath of survivors?

  • What you show in the video happens quite often.

I've always assumed it was the auto-miss "aim dressing" at work.

  • As killer, I seldom get salt in the chat.

It's so rare that one night, I got unwarranted salt in every single lobby and I came here to ask if it happened to someone else.

I've also noticed that draws give me more salt than 4k victories. I presume some of the survivors good enough to get a draw have unwarranted ego.

honestly I wouldn’t even know how to verify a file etc lol steamdeck does have desktop mode but I rarely go into except on a couple occasions to do random non game related stuff (and certainly not into any game files - that would terrify me lol)

It's not that different from Windows.

You switch to the desktop mode (KDE/Plasma) then you can open Steam and use it exactly like you would on Windows.

Steam→Library→right-click the game: Properties →Installed Files →Verify the integrity of game files.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/427589/eac-at-it-again

I’ve had something similar happen around once a week where it says kicked due to EAC something something (I’ve never changed or modified anything in game) I update my steamdeck or restart it and it seems to fix itself but not sure what is causing it in the first place. I’m scared I’ll lose all my progress one of these days without knowing what is causing it (I literally play vanilla on steamdeck - no added files and I don’t tinker with settings at all except for in game settings

    Yes, same.

I'm not using any modification, filter, …

    It's the plain install.

The most annoying part is that the file EAC points to wasn't modified after verifying the files yet it didn't complain anymore when I've restarted the game.

(Like the Steamdeck, I'm also using Proton, v9 for DBD)

  • What's the point of this PTB?

    A few perks rebalanced?

    A killer execution?

There is nothing I'm really interested in. The Distortion fix, at most, but PTB survivor players are notoriously bad so what's the point playing against them? That is if they pick the perk at all to begin with.

  • That killer is one of the most easily bullyable ones.

I used to play her regularly but I've given up: she is broken in too many ways.

Survivors fearing her ("hating" if you wish) simply don't know how to make her utterly powerless.

hey @HerInfernalMajesty my main issue is finding survivors. super boring looking around for them.

The main issue i see people complain about is certain killers power. It just to many killers who are extremely unbalance with no TR and minimum line of sight. About time you see Billy sprinting to your gen it to late, legion just have way to much info to the point u can't even do anything, myers/GF Stalking mechanic is just way to strong in this mode. Certain killers need to be completely ban from this mode for one reason or another. Nurse is completely useless.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3798414#Comment_3798414

i mean u do get off the record at basekit with faster gen speed so i can see that. I just felt the chase aspect of dbd was way less enjoyable for me.

Nurse being useless is kind of funny to me.

On the killer side, I main her and having the light cast-off right at the limit of her first blink range makes chases almost impossible against good players. Sight-blockers? The whole mode is a sight-blocker 😂

I was disappointed watching a famous Huntress streamer try every killer on the mode and going against throwing survivors when he got to her. I would have loved watching him finding a novel solution for this one.

  • That's the wrong way to approach the problem.

Better improve communication/information among solo players.

  • I love these matches as these survivors always end up slugged before a first and final hook.

Sometimes they get me but they don't get a second chance.

  • That's a match in one of the most pro-survivor maps.

It only shows the map should be reworked to stop overwhelmingly favoring survivors.

    That's not exactly news.

  • @blackpotatomaster said:

I think people just hate it because they can't play it

I've played the mode as killer. I've lost one match, got one draw and won all the about thirteen others.

I still don't like the mode and I don't plan to play a single other match now that I've acquired the collectibles from the rift.

  • So I'm not crazy. Given the statistics, slugging for a long time isn't common and slugging to death is rare.

These statistics are certainly matching my experience.

  • I've powered through (Dredge) to get the rift collectibles.

Nobody had any fun (neither me nor the slugged survivors)

Winning is certainly possible as I won almost every match. (Lost one, got one draw, won all the rest.)

Don't forget how common it is to get a down next to a pallet or a gen. Cleaning up after the down already adds a few seconds onto that 15s timer.

    Also.

  • 43% more than 15 seconds

    24% more than 35 seconds

When I play killer, depending on the situation, I tend to slug.

In my book, the chance to hurt a survivor is better than hooking.

And you also have to compose with flashlights, flash-bangs, …

All this makes picking up immediately less than optimal.

  • Huntress isn't the best killer in the game. She isn't even the fifth. Decent survivors can dodge hatchets and many maps are bad for her.

What she is is enjoyable to play.

I find throwing hatchets kind of cathartic.

I need to point out that in expert's hands, she is deadly. I'm often amazed by Huntress plays from CoconutRTS or Rayoxium, among many other streamers.

Killer is hard (so is survivor in solo-queue) you have to keep at it (and play survivor regularly) to improve.

I wasn't even close of being an OK killer before maybe the 1000 hours mark.

If you want a killer with the highest potential, there is of course the Nurse.

She is however not easy to play (hence her abysmal kill-rate compared to the heavy hitters: most can't play her properly).

But if you have the game-sense and know all the maps by heart, you can get great results. (And still get your backside kicked by good survivors in a team and/or other Nurse players who know her weaknesses and tricks and how to exploit them.)

  • Your opponents, be it killers or survivors, aren't meant to be babysitters. They aren't there to entertain you.

    Just FYI.

  • A rise in childish players?

  • The change of distortion is pretty good.

It means avoiding exactly one detection and then having to interact with the killer to get more.

It will only be a problem for survivors hiding all game, doing only quick-time-event on a gen and calling that "playing DBD".

It also means survivors without the perk will not be the most likely target anymore. (Both because of aura detection and their Distortion-using teammates's play style.)

Because you have a very good chance of getting a stealth killer and then its a dead perk slot. I dont like taking perks I have to gamble if they will even have a use or not.

How many are stealth killers? Over how big a roster?

Your "a very good chance" is 13%

So what you want is an OP counter that works 100% of the time.

    How very reasonable of you.

  • That doesn't need to be proven, it's a known fact.

The only ignored matches are the ones with disconnections.

  • @Obscura said:

    Survivors got:
    - Lights (Candelabras) (funny, in a lights out mode ……..)
    - 20% faster at gens
    - double anti facecamp distance
    - 60 sec Endurance

    Killers got:
    - Nothing

As survivor, even in soloq, you escape nearly every trial with 2 or 3 hooks for the killer.

    Great.

Don't forget the survivors can drop the light and never place it on a gen.

    This is beyond silly.

I wonder how many days killers will want to try 😂

It did before because survivors refused to play. I waited 23 minutes for one game (as killer).

I don't plan to play killer this time.

That's my survivor queue I was talking about.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3797121#Comment_3797121

This logic falls apart if I were to ask you if survivors should be allowed to see what killer they're up against.

I'm guessing you don't understand what "hypothetical" means?

Also, killer looking at the survivor's equipment is part of the design of the game. It's not going away anytime soon. (You can pray all you want. 😁)

  • Something tells me that that game mode will have long queues.

  • There are too many changes to get a clear picture.

I don't like the Skull Merchant but it looks it's as good as dead now.

For the rest, I'll check a couple of inventive streamers to see their opinion on this.

And it's only the PTB: it can still change.

  • If "shopping" isn't allowed anymore, it's very simple.

If I don't play my main and I see, say, four toolboxes, I'll close the game and play another one of my hundred of games and come back later.

    As I said: simple.

Unless you're at like 1 gen left, it shouldn't really be possible for both players to escape in a 2v1 unless the killer is bad. The killer has basically already won at that point.

However, it should go to hatch quicker. Slugging for the 4k excessively or hiding excessively are both extremely lame.

The "excessively" is key here. Hiding a bit or slugging a bit is not a problem. But wasting several minutes on it is.

In both cases, some notification (I proposed killer instinct as it's not as accurate as an aura and is less annoying than an explosion) could solve both.

    @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3795833#Comment_3795833

But that still doesn't address the core issue at hand: what is the reason for survivors in a 3v1 (in some cases) or 2v1 to keep working on gens? You cannot get them done. The gens will never get done in a 2v1 at 2 or 3 gens remaining. I have literally never seen it in 5000 hrs over 6 years. It would be ludicrous to suddenly end the game once 2 players from a team are eliminated, but that's essentially what happens.

I believe I've seen it happen on a recent stream from a relatively well known (mostly survivor) streamer. But the killer was way less experienced than the aforementioned survivor so his last teammate had ample time to do gens.

Otherwise, at equal strength, the demise of the last survivors is a fact : the killer can essentially spend all the time he wants to get his down.

Then again, if half the team is dead and there are 2 or 3 gens left, the killer has essentially won already. It's a simple formality and, if the game turns into hide-and-seek, a waste of time.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

It's boring for everyone. I guarantee the survivors don't want to be in that game anymore either. But there's zero reason for them to try and progress the objectives in a 2v1 or even a 3v1 in many cases. The only path survivors have to a personal victory or draw is to wait until someone else dies. Like...I get that not participating is against the rules. So is intentionally losing, which is what a survivor is doing if they try to work a gen in a 2v1. This is not a player issue. It's a design issue.

    I'm not blaming them specifically.

If one hides, the courageous one that moves is as good as dead. I don't feel good killing the one that I feel deserves to get the hatch.

That's why I ask for a technical solution to solve the issue.

I've also seen that kind of "gameplay" from one survivor when the 3 others are still in game. (That was disgusting. I made a point killing him and letting the 3 others leave.)

  • An perma-exposed basement? That's too strong.

  • You'll be happy to learn I get +100% on killer and my lobbies are instant: both "average" and "higher" MMR.
