What happens now when Lethal Pursuer doesn't show me 4 survivors at the start of the game?
- Whoever hasn't the perk equipped will eat most of the chases.
- If I manage to get someone with the perk, I will not let him go out of my sight.
When I see nobody, that's an immediate tunnel/slug mode.
When no distortion, I'm more relaxed and can spread the hooks (unless gen-rush, and then we go back to tunnel/slug)
As far as I'm concerned, distortion isn't very nice in general and is only "nice" for survivors if they all equip it.
As survivor it's one of the few perks I'd rather not equip because I don't want to be remote-camped.

Any match that ended in a 4k, the killer can easily bleed the last survivor out if they want to with no way for the survivor to give up or make it stop. They just have to lie there for 4 minutes and wait. DBD really doesn't respect the players time. Bleedouts when the match is already decided is bad game design.
I suppose they'll fix that at about the same time they kick survivors waiting in the exit games for no reason.

I used to get really angry at players who played very selfishly, as mentioned in the game's Steam description, I don't play survivor much anymore. Whenever I rescue someone, another person goes down and gets hooked at the same time, and when I go to rescue them, yet another person gets hooked, and this cycle repeats until the game ends. I haven't even touched a generator. The funny thing is that most of the time, when I get hooked for the first time, they just hide like cowards and let me go to the second stage.
For the killer side:
The new rank system is really terrible. I just started playing as a killer, and I’ve already reached red rank. Is this a joke? What is this MMR? Dude, just a few days ago, I was asking for advice on which killer to start with. Okay, I don't camp or tunnel, but I’m not playing that well either, this is nonsense. It shouldn’t be this easy. I really miss the old rank system, where it wasn’t this easy to reach red rank.If you think it's too easy don't worry. Keep winning: you'll reach an higher MMR.
Then you'll know what pain means.
-
You'll have to be more explicit.
I have no idea what you are talking about.

I swear to Entity this is exactly how 95% of my Killer games go too. Bing, Bing, Bing in the first five minutes… and then they always choke and it's like they can't find the last two gens they need. It's super weird. Then I 4k because they become potatoes in the last moments.
I think it's overconfidence. They believe they are winning, so they get a bit lazy and go for riskier plays that get them killed. That or they actually get turned around or don't realize what's gone wrong, and someone dies, and then they start to fall apart because by that time the Killer (me) has several hooks or actually gears up and decimates them.
I'm not sure it's overconfidence.
Doing 3 gens at the start is kind of easy, it doesn't require much skills.
It's also boring.
With 3 gens done, it feels like the match will be over in two minutes and that's too fast.
Some survivors will want to go into chases and have saves,: it's more fun and it also gives them more points. But all this require more coordination and also more skills.
And that's where everything crumbles.
That's anyway how it felt with my last team. Relatively inexperienced players (well below the 1k hours) trying to do something else than hiding and doing quick-time-events. One was obsessed with totems and avoiding NOED. One really wanted to try to blind the killer (and she was already pretty good at it: we became friends after she managed to burn my Nurse to save a teammate). One had fun trying to be obnoxious which never ended well. (I'm out of that picture as my only goal was to help them survive.)
-
For this to happen, survivors have to massively throw (or royally f-up) or to be outmatched by the killer.
Maybe the game should end with four slugs with no hope of recovery but that's not supposed to happen often. (Although some survivor play style may encourage it.)

I just want to chime in and want to suggest Spies in Shadows as a beginner info perk. When I started I always heared people say "once you learn how to read birds and notice them fly away you will gain a lot more game sense" and I could make no rhyme nor reason of it. I never saw any birds flying off and had no sense of them flapping their wings fer a survivor was in the area.
People will tell you "hur dur, Spies is such a bad info perk, it never gives you a solid sign, but only vague maybes. Any aura reading perk is miles better then Spies." and this people are just mistaken. Spies is one of the most underrated info perks in the game and it comes for free with every killer.
The hardest time in my life as a killer was when Ultimate Weapon, because no one would have run Calm Spirit otherwise, the only perk that counters Spies in the Shadows. I play it on most of my killers and it gives me unparalleled map awareness. So often my lil birbs act as eyes in the back of my head, noticing me of something behind me when I was already on my way to another gen, or they often help me to make this splitsecond decisions during a chase, left or right, especially when there are no scratchmarks due to a perk. And my little birbs also help a lot during the end game or when hunting for a single, elusive survivor. The options are endless and to this day I will never understand why so many killer players look down on this perk. But at least this gives me a pretty high chance that it won't get nerfed.
Spies is a great perk. It has often allowed me to find a survivor hiding behind a rock where no aura reading perk would have got any value (and in a direction I wasn't looking at).
I find it particularly useful on my M1 killers.

They could very easily be at low MMR. However, I doubt the streamers who are consistently doing well are at 1600 MMR either and more likely at 2000 to 2200 MMR where they're regularly playing against people that have no chance against them.
None of that, though, is indicative of the game overall or of anyone's personal experience. That's the point I'm making. As an example, in VHS, the Monster role at very high levels of experience was actually pretty good. Did that invalidate how horrible the experience was and biased towards Teens the role was prior to achieving that level? Of course not and it killed the game.
What I'm essentially saying is that we can't assume anything with any definite certainty from the OP's post nor can we assume, regardless of the OP's skill level high or low, there isn't an actual issue in the OP's games. For example, Teens quite often cried 'skill issue' in VHS to obscure the fact learning Monster was miserable beyond belief due to the huge disparity in skill floors. While not to the same degree this phenomena also exists in DbD.
Attempting to dismiss the OP's experience isn't taking that into account. We don't know if there is an issue or not.
I see streamers, big ones, famous ones, loose plenty, be it as killer or as survivor. Just not consistently and never a stomp.
The only part they don't represent is the low MMR.
Not being able to assume anything just mean not being able to do anything about it as there is not frame of reference to work with.
Thankfully, I don't agree. There is hope in learning to play better. (And probably to prevent hook-suicide but that's a different matter.)

The other possibilities though is that they have more tunnelling in their games, MMR in their region favours higher MMR killers versus lower MMR survivors, or they're at the soft cap and better than you at survivor. That's why implying it's a skill issue would be akin to gaslighting them about their experience.
As tunnelling gives a difference in win rates that makes pre 6.1 DH look healthy, win rates would be different depending on the MMR population distribution, and anyone at the soft cap can face people 300+ MMR points higher which gives a less than a one percent chance of actually winning the game the OP could be facing any or all of those situations. We don't know.
The only thing we do know is that the OP is having a miserable time and is frustrated. No other assumptions can be made as we don't know their personal experience and experiences will vary greatly in a game with as many variables as DbD. It might be they're low MMR; it might be they're high MMR. We don't have any idea and saying 'skill issue' on video game forums is quite often used to obfuscate and divert from actual huge balance issues quite frequently. It also denies that, as a player, the OP is having a miserable time and, from a business perspective, that always should be a concern.
Everyone can look at a great many matches from experienced streamers (killers/survivors/US/EU) and see that this kind of massacre doesn't really happen. Not often anyway.
And streamer matches are looking like my own (which makes sense given how many thousands of hours I have in the game).
That's why I believe that if they have consistently bad matches, they can only be at low MMR. (a.k.a the aptly named low MMR hell)
And that's why, as annoying it may be for them, I don't believe it's a problem that can be solved.
Note that BHVR's own statistics show that there isn't that great a difference of escape between SWFs and solo-Q. (Which, again, is consistent with my own experience.)
There is of course the alternative possibility being that all this is an exaggeration but that's not something I'd like to consider.

For a game with millions of players that is played on multiple continents it is completely reasonable to assume other people will have different experiences than someone else's and people who are complaining due to frustration because their experiences are miserable will tend to generalize.
People are more or less the same everywhere in the world. But yes, it's obviously possible to have a different experience. Skill, after all, is a factor.
I don't play in the beginner's MMR range. Most of my killers are probably in the average with my Nurse being placed higher (given how my opponents are playing).
That kind of massacre however, I can only imagine against incompetent low-MMR survivors and spineless players giving up at the slightest hurdle.
But their sort having trouble with the game is all fine. Killer has always been easier at low MMR. It's on the higher tiers that it becomes more difficult.
The game takes time to learn. That's a good thing.

Must I include timestamps as well? This is on forsaken boneyard lul.
That's a feat in itself.
Over the past few years I've only witnessed this (as killer) maybe 3 or 4 times. It was always always the result of a major f-up from the survivors.
It has never happened to me (as survivor), even when I've tried to show DbD to new players (0 hours) which were desperately bad at the game.
Seriously, how???
-
These are fine examples. The only kind here I've not experienced myself is the killer complaining he got robbed of his mori.
I'm almost certain there are way more (not too bright) kids (because I can't imagine they are adults) playing this game than we would expect.
You don't even have to look at your games. Just read the outrageous claims you can read right on these forums.
It's like they don't know we play the same game and can't see right though the "untruths" (to be nice) and exaggerations.
On the end-game-chat side I've been lucky these past few months. Bar an horrible game night where I had salt and insults after insults, my lobbies are pretty wholesome or at the very least uneventful.
Recent example:
I was playing a Billy for the first time in months (daily) and didn't even look at my build. All I needed was a few chainsaw downs: I didn't really plan to win, but win I did.
Long story short I closed the hatch and found the last survivor. Trying to let him go, I carried him to the door. I was probably as surprised as him when I saw the door opening mechanism being blocked for way more time than was left. I felt truly sorry for that.
I was expecting some salt but instead I got a "nicely played" after that pretty cruel, if totally unplanned, ending.

survivor gameplay is always boring, you sit on a gen or die, it’s not against the rules and it doesn’t matter if the enemy doesn’t like your strategy. Play how you want and if you shame someone for their play style you’re just another complainer. They bought their game they get to choose how they play . Also chases are overrated, traps are more fun.
On this forum, a lot of people use the term "boring" wanting to mean "too difficult" for them. I don't know why, they just do.
-
Funny, I've just watched a few streamers play solo without much problem.
On the last match I've watched, the killer even gave up, powerless.
After that I got bored.
Ah, and I have no problem myself. Surviving about half the time, give or take.
I'm not even that good. I consider myself pretty average in that role.

Sooner or later the issue will fix itself.

This
Even then players that have played in 2016 may have still save injected, and you can easily tell by looking at the date and time. Saw some one who had gotten the prestige 1, 2, 3 and p350 achievements all at the exact same time.
Nowadays thats actually possible if an older player who only got their characters to level 50 and never prestiged logs in for the first time with the new prestige system, it gives them all the achievements.
Be mindful that at some point in time there was a bug in DbD where you would get multiple achievements at once. Many were affected.
It was years ago so I don't recall exactly.
It was something like getting my 3 survivor prestige achievements at once (for no reason) or getting them automatically at the same time I got the prestige 3 for killer.
Or I got prestige 2 and 3 survivor at the same moment I got the 1.
So looking at achievement times for this game may not indicate much.
-
Probably Midwich or Meat Plant.
Why?
- Multi-floors (as Nurse)
- Easy to hide (as Blendette)
-
To be fair, half the time they are.
The other half … well … 😅
-
Now I enter each match always assuming I got four p100 and it's really too bad for them when they aren't.
-
As Nurse …
I don't do gen slow-down: I do either chase, either end-game.
I don't mind slugging if hooking takes too much time (happens a lot)
It's not rare for me to have one or two survivors bleeding out.
I don't doubt some teams with specific builds and tactics would wipe the floor with me but I have not encountered these for a very long time.
Check your Steam profile with and look how many "Survivors hit after a blink" you got.
That's usually a good benchmark to evaluate how far you are with her.

Because survivors call anything and everything tunneling. I know because I've had friends, haven't even been hooked yet cry, "he's tunneling me." But because the devs take all of these alleged reports of tunneling seriously, there's anti-tunnel out the wazoo in the game, and it hurts killers who aren't even tunneling. It's an absolute power fantasy for the survivors, even though they'll claim the opposite.
True.
Most players don't seem to know the meaning of camping, tunneling or even hostage.
And what to say about the handful of players who are so detached from reality it's best to ignore their posts?
At least Sluzzy (if I recall the name correctly) was imaginative while trolling for the survivors. (And was also a pretty good Nurse, or so it is said.)
I'm not entirely convinced the devs are trusting the posts though. They have statistics about everything.

Slugging and intentionally bleeding out are 2 different things.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3791483#Comment_3791483
If someone is habitually bleeding out survivors match after match they are refusing to participate in normal gameplay.
That's what I meant by four slug : bleeding them out.
-
@apathyinc said:
Bleeding out shouldn't fall under the "slugging" category, it's more refusing to participate in normal gameplay.
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct
- Use this option to report a player for purposefully losing the game, not participating in or disconnecting from the game early to avoid defeat. Examples: AFKing, rage quitting idling, and refusing to participate in normal gameplay
There are valid tactical reasons to four slug.
- Unsportsmanlike Conduct
-
Learn to run while watching behind you.
Learn to predict the direction of the hatchet.
Learn to dodge.
Play Huntress and see how easily survivors walk over you (once you are out of the children's sandbox MMR)
-
You have the right to quit a game. Not to ruin a match without consequence.
Everybody can have a valid reason: the door ringing, any kind of emergency or even a technical problem.
But it has to be rare and the first couple of penalties are very low. They only become significant for serial leavers that should not play a multiplayer game.
-
That's not a bannable offense. (What you describe is not an hostage situation.)
-
Lights out was fun and the only mode where Nurse suffers from a real handicap. Survivors are almost always out of sight so they break line of sight effortlessly.
During that mode, I play M1 killers.

Yeah. I've never cared much for Skull Merchant, but I couldn't learn her if I wanted to, because there's nothing to play against. You get people who instantly give up, or teams who know exactly how to counter her and it's a 5-minute match. Other people give Nurse, Doctor, and Spirit the same treatment.
Or Wraith, Legion, Freddy, Twins, …
I've seen that happen for all killers.
-
If you have all around a thousand hours, that must put you at the bottom: right after "beginner".
Unfortunately, that usually places you against a bigger range of opponents and rarely against new killers.
It's likely you need to improve quite a bit to get better results.
The alternative is to lose so many matches you'll get down in MMR for a little while.
I believe improving is the better choice. (Or giving up completely like you suggested. That's good too.)
Someone has already suggested for you to post your matches. You should probably do that. Healthy critique is good for progress.
Also, from my own experience, SWFs tend to rarely play killer. (Most of my friends never did.) However every player should play both roles if only to understand the enemy.

This may be a language barrier or mistranslation here, but it looks like you're saying there are few Survivors that ARE toxic. There are actually just as many toxic Survivors as there are toxic Killers, most Killers just want to play the game the same as Survivors. Killer toxicity comes from frustration with Survivors being toxic, and Survivor toxicity comes from frustration with Killers being toxic. If anything, the chance of seeing a toxic Survivor may be higher, because there are four times as many of them as Killers in a round. So while you see toxic Survivors more often, Killer toxicity feels worse because you can't do anything about it.
If that wasn't what you meant, I apologize. :)
The math checks out.

You need to calm down a bit friend. I am not the OP. I'm simply talking about your assertion that it does not take 15 seconds to hook a survivor. I'm simply saying it does when you add up all the times. And yeah. I did do some math around the average distances the hooks spawn from each other and used that to determine that, on average it would be about 8 seconds to walk to a hook. Yes. Sometimes you are closer. Other times you are not. That's how averages work. Over the course of say 100 games your average about 8 seconds to walk to a hook.
I'm also looking at it from a perfect standpoint. There are other factors such as the killer player probably needs to spend a second scanning around for a nearby hook. Obviously tons of factors come into play. But this is why that guy said, yeah it takes 10-20 seconds to hook a survivor.
Like I said. I'll record a match later and show you how long it actually takes to hook a survivor. Because I really do think people underestimate just how long killers spend doing basic things. I'm a bit busy today but I'll tag you later tonight when I have it done and you can see the times yourself.
You are wasting your time.
Anyone who has a bit of experience knows it usually takes around 15 seconds to hook a survivor.
In my experience, I'm more often at '9' while counting the grunts than any other value.
And that's if survivors aren't interfering, which they often do at higher MMRs: body blocking, flashlight, pallet, flashbang.
Ergo: slugging good.
-
I used to slug quite naturally as in my book, harming survivor is almost always the best move and they are so often packed together.
Now with the silly increase of the hook timer, I prefer to slug as a bleed-out can be quite efficient if survivors keep sitting on gens. Plus it denies so many perks.
And how could you be called a tunneler when you never hook anymore?
-
As if. 😂
No.
I still have teams trying that move. Usually I bleed them all out (the "clowns", not the survivors playing normally)
I often immortalise the moment with a screenshot of their lifeless corpse and post it on Steam.
-
It encourages gens-before-friends so now I'm just tunneling and slugging from the start to compensate the risk.
Otherwise if I do it later and the survivors apply the tactic, there is no possible comeback.
As survivor I can finish gens more easily (and faster) as I have more time before going for an unhook.
-
His perks don't look very attractive and he's bound to follow the same trend as other killers after release.

Again, how is that ANY different, that survivors killing themselves on hook a soon as they see a skull merchant, or a map they don't like, or some other little issue that happens?
That wouldn't.
The way I see it, the whole point of this conversation is that it would be bad and that'd be as exploitable as allowing survivors to do so is.

The conclusion should be: prevent survivors to do it too.

his perks are mid at best, his perks are basically just corrupt for chests and totems, but only for 8 seconds. Undying for chests. And a hex that is just a slowdown for the obsession only that also reveals its aura so it’ll be cleansed in about 30 seconds.
So it's not worth getting then.

Depends on who you ask, but in general, every map is survivor sided. I mean killer sided. Ah right. The forums are not a place to get honesty. You're either a survivor main or a killer main, regardless if you are or not.
This be the forums.
Some maps are survivor sided and some maps are killer sided. It used to be massively favoring survivors but it's a bit better now.
It also depends on the killer: the Game is a good map for Nurse, so are small multi-floor maps in general. But it's an awful map for most other killers.
-
Try to wake-up from this nightmare. (Nurse/Claudette)
-
Not buying this killer before the mandatory two weeks.
Either he's too weak, either he'll be nerfed in a week or two.
-
Usually a newly released killer is either too weak, either nerfed after one or two weeks.
I suspect many players are waiting to see if this one is worth buying. (If I recall its perk aren't worth getting at all for my playstyle.)
-
I've never even noticed the perk so I'd say it's pretty ineffective.
The only effective perk against aura reading is "Distortion", and it makes me switch immediately to killing anyone without distortion as fast as possible to compensate.
-
