It’s not bait. I’m surprised you find it hard to believe that killer mains actually want a 4K as quickly and easily as they can. Have you ever been to the DBD Reddit?

There are poor characters on both "main" sides. I don't even try to understand them.

As for Reddit, it is a cesspool. I'm not about to dip even a toe in it.

  • Are you complaining about the only case where hook suicide is good?

I have to ask: was that bait?

  • @Marc_123 said:

Yes - i wanted to post the same!

Didn´t know if this was already so or they changed it due to the wait times.

    But thats great!

It is. I've only "lost" two games so far and even then I've progressed the rift. (Except the last one that seems bugged.)

  • It's possible but the easiest counter is to tunnel faster and harder. (And ensure hook stages when necessary.)

  • @Paternalpark said:

I'm still getting bled out so I'd say just QoL update for killer.

Minor shadow nerf to slug me/sabo builds.

That's one less case where you won't be 100% bled out.

And I guarantee you that's what I do to every survivor using that tactic. (And then I take a screenshot to commemorate their "winning move")

    e.g.

    image.png

She didn't want to be hooked and she "won". 😆

Lol, no, you punish that by not camping and tunneling, but chasing other survivors. If they want to stick on gens till the last second, you now have a 10 second extra window to chase and thus more ways to get rid of pallets for free.

No, while I'm chasing one survivor, the others, far away as my opponents always do gens in parallel, will push the gens further because they have 10 more seconds.

So instead I'll break chase and go to the hook when appropriate (which may or may not be about 3 seconds later than usual) and tunnel the heck out of the survivor or ensure the next hook stage.

We hear this alot. Survivor gets x buff, killer mains come here saying they're now going to tunnel/slug/whatever even more now in punishment. It never happens.

It always does. Every time a mechanic is used in a match to accelerate gen speeds, I counter it by tunneling (and/or camping depending on the situation).

I despise doing it because tunneling makes chases less fun, but I do it.

I already punished gens-before-friends, I'll do it more.

And "it never happens" … you are right, everybody sees that tunneling happens less and less /S.

  • Well, so you know the answer right?

As killer I almost never tunnel myself.

With that change, I can easily switch to tunneling to offset this new handicap.

    Fun? No! But it'll work.

  • My experience as been the opposite.

Survivor in 2vs8 has been fun non-stop.

Killer in 2vs8 has been fun about three days.

When I went back to 1vs4, killer only so far, I found manageable matches where I had some control. Way more relaxing than the 2vs8 genrush that is now the norm.

  • The first idea that comes to mind is "gens-before-friends is now more powerful".

That means the killer will have to punish it even more harshly, tunneling being the first option coming to mind.

  • @Ayodam said:

I don’t think 2v8 can support MMR. It’s way to chaotic

It was for the first couple of days. 2vs8 hasn't been chaotic for me from about Monday.

Maybe it was a streak of bad luck but I'm not eager to waste my time experimenting.

  • A tragedy indeed. 😭

    Ah well.

    Today, rift survivor side.

    Tomorrow, rift killer side.

And then I'll be done with this mode.

  • A beginner then.

I'm guessing many think starting killer on 2vs8 is a good idea.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3771099#Comment_3771099

this doesn’t happen in 1v4. Why would it be different in 2v8?

It's how it goes for me in 1vs4 on the killer side.

If I play chill, most of my games become chill after a while.

If I play hard, they become hard in a few matches.

On the survivor side it's mostly about getting out of MMR hell and then you can't really decide to play chill or not as it's kind of a group decision.

  • I believe it's kind of balanced. However survivors can gen-rush easily while tunneling is kind of difficult (although I've been told some can predict where the pod is spawning)

The problem is that MMR is off so there can be big differences of experience on both sides.

  • @TieBreaker said:

If you think adding MMR would fix 2v8 matchmaking, I'm sorry to have to remind you that solo queue survivor has had MMR for years, and it does not work lmao.

    It works sufficiently for this.

Gen-rushers and tunnelers will end up together while chill players will stay on the fun, chaotic, matches.

(And I won't be grouped with someone with less than 20 times my hours … I hope)

  • @Chiky said:

the last time i played I waited 20 minutes in queue just to get paired with a nurse bot :) Never again

Wow, that sounds even more unlucky than I've been.

How was the bot playing by the way? On a scale of 0 to 10? (10 being "god" level)

  • Between the queue times that are insane and the chaotic side getting away, I'd rather see them balance the mode a bit.

    (I'm already back to 1vs4)

  • @tjt85 said:

I kinda like the loose MMR of this mode to be honest. It's very chaotic, but I feel like it's probably a bit closer to how DBD was before MMR replaced the Grade system (I wasn't playing back then). The matches are more variable and because of that, tend to be a bit more chill overall.

It certainly beats getting turbo stomped for 10 trials in a row because you escaped a Blight once, anyway.

That's the thing. It's not chaotic anymore.

Hahah. So true, although it might work if survivors would just do the main objective instead of all the other bs.

You should love the survivor side of my games then: gens gens gens unless you are bleeding on the ground. That's all I've got since Monday night.

    @bleep275 said:

no casual game mode should have mmr. If winning and dominating is your thing. Get a killer friend or stick to 1v4. Casual mode does not need a bunch of killers that take Otz word as scripture and tunnel and learn the cage spawn to prevent saves because it’s a “totally legitimate strategy”. We’re already seeing mass slugging and hillbillies/wraiths using their turbo speed to get to cages.

KEEP IT CASUAL PLEASE. The goofiness is part of the appeal. I had a match as killer where I got 19 hook stages and my team mate had 2. I even took a screenshot. But it was fun helping out the baby killer and watching them do their thing.

When it was casual : sure. But now that about every team I've versed was sticking to the gens it's not casual anymore. Only gen-rush vs tunneling attempts.

If I'm with another experienced killer the match outcome can go either way. If I'm not it's just a five minute thing.

(Hence I went back to 1vs4 : not waiting 15 minutes for that)

    Im in the Us…

But worse comes to worse. i can suffer with ping and play withcha =D

I appreciate it but I'm not sure that would work. There is a big risk of disconnection as this mode/servers aren't exactly the most stable. (I got a disconnection in a lobby and my ping is usually around 36 : back to a 15 minutes wait)

  • Absolutely not.

Every time survivors are cluttered together, it would be stupid not to keep hitting until they disperse or go all down.

Then, and then only, slugs can be sent to pods.

It can take way more than 10 seconds. A minute isn't rare for big groups.

And given that now 2vs8 is getting gen-rush after gen-rush, every bit of pressure counts.

  • Probably the best way to counter the massively parallel gens that I've seen these past three days.

  • If you are in Europe, it could be done.

    @HexHuntressThighs said:

If you need a good Huntress for 2v8 I got you lol. That's the only killer I play so I don't have to worry about getting a bad Huntress on my team. She is the hardest of the 5 for a new player to get the hang of besides Nurse I think. But she is the only ranged killer available so a lot of people want to play her.

Same as above: if you are in Europe, it could be done ^_^.

  • The problem is that without MMR, you can have beginner killer(s) against experienced (rushing) survivors and it doesn't work well.

If both teams are the same strength, it's way more balanced.

  • @Orionbash said:

Are the killers a good team? If yes: Killer-sided.
If not, are the survivors doing gens? If yes: Survivor-sided.

This game mode is based on efficient teamwork and skill. Whoever does that better is who is gonna come out on top.

When both are good, I don't think it's anyone sided (although … survivors can still genrush if they want but tunneling isn't really working to counter it)

    @Neaxolotl said:

Survivors, only reason it is working for now is the fact survivors aren't playing for win at all

That has changed since yesterday as far as I'm concerned. No more chaos : only rushes asking for hard plays.

Literally just (pretend to) farm and then blink 3 times and grab them off the generator. Then either play the game normally or keep farming.

Achievement done. You don't need to bother with trying to get it in the intended way.

I got it burning through tens of that addon and with a lucky gen grab through a wall in Gideon.

In insight, it may be easier to "cheese" like you say but I'm often stupidly curious to see the amount of effort required to get it without the contribution of my opponent(s).

  • @OmegaRejectz said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3770421#Comment_3770421

when did I say that? Also, there's a difference between a challenge, or, should I say, achievement. And something that is entirely out of your control and is dependent on what Killer you got matched up with

You are missing the point by a mile.

That's almost an achievement in itself so I guess congratulations are in order.

  • @For_The_People said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3770495#Comment_3770495

Yes me too! I think this is written in Chinese Kanji which seems to literally be ‘blood point’ 血点

Whereas the Japanese player-base just refer to it as BP or in Katakana ブラッドポイント

I don't know Chinese. All I know is that I've looked at the kanjis and the words "blood" "point" popped into my head.

But yes, I'd imagine katakanas would be the preferred way for the Japanese so it sounds like "buladdo poento" instead of the actual meaning.

  • @Neaxolotl said:

It only works like that simply because the mode is new, the more time passes, the more people know, and the more sweaty it will be

2v8 will still be sweaty and kill focused if we starts to play for win

It has already started to become sweaty.

Last night I had to fight pretty hard as killer to get a draw or a close win. I had teams of organised survivors back to back.

  • Funny to see "blood points" written in kanjis.

  • That's why it's called an achievement.

Nurse still has the achievement where you have to blink 3 times to grab a survivor.

It was made at a time Nurse could blink up to five times and now you can't even grab from hook anymore.

What kind of survivor stays on a generator when the Nurse is rushing in with three blinks?

It was one of the most difficult ones I've got. Worse even than Evil incarnate that depends on survivors not jumping in lockers to avoid the kill.

In comparison, simply having to be matched with a specific killer seems a pretty simple, if random, requirement.

  • There are already at least two colorblind modes in the game settings.

  • My only concern is the queue time for killer.

Yesterday I didn't even want to try the role because of that.

  • Neither.

I've played both sides and from my experience, the strongest side wins.

In case of equivalent strengths, it's usually a close win.

Otherwise, one side is being crushed.

  • Maybe the player felt he stood more chance playing with a teammate?

Nurse is kind of difficult to play. That's why her kill rate is usually at the bottom of the statistics.

From survivor perspective that still tunneling and they should have defence agains't it. In normal game there is ds and otr. Even tunneling in 2vs8 is mostly bad luck it's incredibly unfun experience especially when 2 killers target you. In tunneling definition you can still chase others while tunneled is hooked and that's what makes it so effective stragedy.

I've been killed twice right out of the pod. I chalk it up to simple bad luck and I moved on to the next game.

I wouldn't call that "incredibly unfun" but I guess we all have our thresholds.

I don’t need you to mansplain to me what tunneling is. I’ve been playing long enough to understand what is/isn’t tunneling. The tunneling I’ve seen is when killers beeline for where a caged survivor is, pursue that survivor directly after unhook, or drop chase with an injured survivor to pursue a previously caged survivor—even if that caged survivor is healthy. All legitimate forms of tunneling. Hope it passes your test or whatever.

I have no idea how they can do that without cheating. In my experience the position is kind of random so without clear information it's a bad time investment.

I'd be nice to know how predictable the pod spawn is, e.g. asking to the devs.

  • @Ayodam said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3768643#Comment_3768643

This isn’t true. I have seen tunneling in 2v8. Not commonly (from what I have seen ) but it is happening.

Tunneling implies intent and ignoring all but one survivor until he's out of the match.

"Hooks" are randomly placed and far away from both killers.

"Hooks" are moved if in proximity of a killer.

Because of this, it's very unlikely to find the survivor one has just downed without ever encountering or trying to hit another survivor.

Stumbling randomly on the survivor that was just downed and has just been "unhooked" isn't tunneling, it's only bad luck/opportunity.

I've myself found a survivor I had downed a bit before while she was being healed and of course I've downed her. But I had chased another survivor between her two downs. It would be a very bad idea to ignore all survivors but the one I've just downed.

And even if by sheer luck I found her randomly before finding anyone else, downing her wouldn't be tunneling as I had no intent to down her. It was just an opportunity.

Tunneling only works in 1vs4 because the hook position is known and proxy-camping is possible.

I feel like you may have been a nurse I was juicing in a game. I just couldn’t shake her. She was a p100 and pretty good

I don't know about pretty good but if you are in Europe it may have been me. (In the 2vs8 I'm currently wearing a blueish attire with the split carnival mask. In the normal games I'm wearing either that or the basic skin.)

    edit:

    image.png

I have however a very different name in game.

ok you’ve gotta close all three individually? Didn’t know that. Seemed they were closing one and the other two were closed as well. But I’d only heard the noise indicating a hatch closed once.

I'm not entirely sure but I think you hear the noise when the last hatch is closed.

What I'm sure of is that I've closed two or three hatches myself in a match.

  • Time is a scarce resource for killers in all modes.

Unless you go against beginners, gens fly.

    It's true in 1vs4 and 2vs8.

If a chase takes you far from the gens and takes time, you break it and go back to a more productive move.

  • I'm all for the spend-at-once button.

  • Or you can play both roles and endeavor to be reasonable when speaking about the strengths and weaknesses of both sides.

  • My only killer games that haven't ended as 7k or 8k are the ones I've played with a friend who has never played killer.

My survivor games have been more balanced in term of win/lose but are still withing reasonable margins.

If you lose like that maybe you should endeavor to play better.

Yeah you guys are right. And I saw that every time you as a user of this forum try to say that it is clearly a issue in this game you get downtalked like hell. But still I try to say what is not working and I am glad to see that there are still people who say their minds too.

    And now to the others

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769259#Comment_3769259

Neaxolotl it is clear that you try to polarise with your statements. You do not care in listening that someone face a certain issue cause YOU do not face it and since you do not face it it can not be real right? That is why you can say your mind but please do not wonder if it is seen as bad intention of the people here. Nobody says you can not tell what you think but it seems like you just try to provoke an argument.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769281#Comment_3769281

Mate it is happy to read that your matches worked out that well. And it is nice. But still only you face it means not that is a measurement for everyone as such as my experiences are not like you see. Yet I still think tunneling happesn a lot and also very intentional. Or do you think only you did not cage a survivor it is no tunneling go after a survivor YOU SAW got unhooked? If not fine but than where is any need to talk on with you? Cause clearly you twist it like you want it.

Tunneling is extremly possible in this mode. It even happen just naturally because killers do not care anymore in focus not to. They just without any thinking that makes tunneling almost all matches a basic part of this mode. Killers do not care anymore.

And you like this mode that is fine. Look it is okay to me when they keep this mode for people like you who likes it. That is fine to me, but why not make another 2v8 mode for people who do not like it how it is? Why is that a problem for you guys? For real!

This mode is without any doubt only for killers. And also only for these killers who 24/7 claims that the normal mode is a nightmare or to hard and so on what is funny considering the fact that it has already a 40/60 ratio in killers favor. All killers who always want more buffs on their side and all nerfs on survivor side LOVE this mode cause it is their dream they do not need to even try really they can tunnel now naturally and call it an "immunity" because they do not have to justify their toxic behaviour anymore cause it just happens and they claim it does not. So clearly this mode is your dream and just fine. Cause I do not think you really focus either. Playing without really care what really happens in the match.

And again I am happy when your matches are good and so on and you like it I am just fine with out. But please do not make your experiences the only one care here. Know what the best way to find out which kind of this mode would been better is make a 2v8 mode WITH hooks and a normal mechanic and the one with this mechanic. In that way they just could let the playerbase decide which is better do you not think? And when NO SURVIVORS WILL PLAY IN THIS MODE NOW ANYMORE you got your answer that your experiences are not these which are the majority.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3769342#Comment_3769342

Hard disagree to you too. Cages are not a smart move at least not right from the start. The limitation of the killer interactions ARE the problem here. There need to be any chance to help the other survivors. But since they just kick you in the ground it is no chance anymore. Not to forget that looping too is not possible since they just can flank you.

By the way noticed any of you defenders of this mode that none of you ever said any word to my point about the looping? That is why you always try to defend the points you think you can. That is normal behaviour that you only focus on points you think you can speak against but these you have nothing to say against you just erase out of your memory. That also shows that all of the other points too only got speaken out to because you can not say anything more to the key issues. Anyway for me it shows that it is a poor try.

And to the body blocking point you made sry to tell you but I think they already changed it that that is no thing anymore or they just could change it then. That you can not body blocking hooks. No one says that that has to be a thing then.

Oh and thanks that you mention body blocking cause that too happens EXTREMLY often in this mode especially from the wraith players. Toxic as hell do you not think? Let me guess you do not!

If you know what "tunneling" means, you know it's not possible here.

    If you don't, well …

  • @despised7 said:

The games last like 4 minutes with gen rushing and everyone escapes usually.

My killer games have lasted 10 minutes. 8 gens is just right, almost one too many.

The only fast games I had were the few I lost when playing with a friend who had never played killer before.

    @Ayodam said:

I think when killers close one hatch, all of them close. My guess as to why there are 3 gates/hatches is that with two killers it’s easy for them to basically camp most of the available exits during endgame.. be that hatch or gate.

No, you have to close the 3 hatches.

  • I've played both sides, with different killers and different classes.

The mode feels very well balanced.

    Bad killer team? Lose.

    Bad survivor team? Lose.

About equal opponents? Can go either way.

    No camping.

    No tunneling.

    It's great.

  • I've played on both sides and won more than half of my survivor matches, usually by a huge margin.

The one I lost were mostly because of a bad team.

    Same for killer.

Tunneling isn't possible in this game. Stumbling on a "podded" survivor is just "luck" and unless an idiot delivers him right in front of the killer he is moved away.

The mode is fine as it is. Making it easier for either side would be giving free wins to the incompetent.

1 … 8 9 10 11 12 … 83
