But yes, I'd imagine katakanas would be the preferred way for the Japanese so it sounds like "buladdo poento" instead of the actual meaning.

Yes me too! I think this is written in Chinese Kanji (hanzi) which seems to literally be ‘blood point’ in its characters: 血点
Whereas the Japanese player-base just refer to it as BP or in Katakana ブラッドポイント
