Are you kidding? It's great. I love watching their stream afterward to see how it looked like from their point of view.

Nah. Most of them will throw games trying to make really stupid plays for content. Very, very few survivor content creators actually play optimally. Just think of the dumbest thing they could try to make a killer do for content at any given time and don't fall for it. They'll greed every pallet, try to window tech everything, locker juke, etc. It's all smoke and mirrors.
There is that too. Usually they die as fast as bully squad members.

A survivor tried to be unhookable on a recent match.
On that point she won : she bled out.
-
Doctor / Nurse any map.
Doctor to find survivors.
Nurse to kill them.

They get stuck on objects, they routinely glitch, they will not finish heals if they detect a terror radius, will blow gens for the same reason, and cannot loop.
That's still better than what I get in the average solo 😅
-
I usually play nice. But if I notice the survivors are playing harsh then I switch to playing harsh myself.
However, if there was a bad map offering then I switch to maximum pain. I'll make a point sucking all the fun I can until the end. I despise some maps so much I consider map offering a declaration of war.
-
When I play killer and I load on Garden of Pain or Nostromo, I don't even want to try anymore. Too much clutter. Too many hiding spots.

I'm also on Tome 1 and need to do the "sacrifice 4 surivors in basement" challenge at some point... so please wait for that :D
This one's bugged for me, never counts :(
I think the 6 hooks in basement works on RPD only.
-
Easy : I don't play M1 killers anymore.
-
A friend of mine has translated several time Russian text from the end game.
Every single time it was swear words and harm wishes.
I don't bother anymore.
-
I need to point out that against a decent Nurse, The Game and Midwich are often a death sentence.
-
As far as I'm concerned it would make NOT tunneling easier.
Tunneling only requires to remember one survivor.
Not tunneling requires to remember the state of four, sometimes identical, survivors. When I'm tired I can't be bothered.
-
I get the valuable items then auto-buy.

Install "OBS"
Record a movie.
Report the player in game.
Optionally edit the video with "shotcut".
Upload the video on Youtube. Prefereably put timestamps of the key moments in the description.
Fill an additional report explaining the problem and pointing to the video.
The page is : https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
I do that for every cheater I find and I usually get fast reactions from support.

Bots are “quite decent”? Lol cap. Stoppit.
I'm being serious. Against some killers they are better than your typical solo-queue.
They tend to perfectly dodge projectiles. And they are always at the furthest point from the killer on a tile, even without line of sight (because they know where he is). That makes mind-gaming them a chore.
They go for unhooks and heal their teammates.
Tell me it's not better than so many solo queue survivors?
-
Seems reasonable.
I need to point out one's fun is someone else's torture.
I tend to play nice with survivors. Especially when I consider them weak.
Among other things, it means I may start to slug instead of hooking a third time. While doing that I let ample time to heal the slugs. I'll also waste time on risky and pointless moves (e.g. attempt across-map hits with Huntress, blink-less chases with Nurse, ...)
A lot of survivors seem to positively love that. A few despise it, consider it torture, and rather die ASAP instead.
One cannot please everybody.
-
Survivor then?
My first advice would be to not neglect playing killer. Especially the ones you find difficult to verse. (Know your enemy) If you don't experience the game as killer it'll hinder your progress as survivor.
Chose a survivor who blends and is silent. Bill has a strong breath and killers tend to work with sounds more than with their eyes. I wouldn't take him. That being said :, avoid flashy skins too. My personal favorite is Claudette but I've chosen her when the maps were darker and the concept of Blendette was a thing.
My personal style tends to gravitate around vanishing in plain sight. CoconutRTS is a streamer I appreciate for his survivor builds (even if he is first and foremost a Huntress). He has a build where you get hit, make distance then hide and stop making any sound while healing : I love it.
-
Bots are quite decent in many situations. They "cheat" in mind games because they always know where the killer is.
I've played mostly killer these past weeks and I must say that there is almost always a weak link in the team that goes down in record time. He is the fifth killer perk as far as I'm concerned.
Sometimes the weak-link rage-quits immediately which increases substantially the team's chance of survival.
(And sometimes of course the team is quite strong and kicks my backside properly. Usually an SWF of 4. Maybe once in a blue moon they are very experienced solos.)
-
Speaking of scratch marks. These past few days I've often noticed an interruption in the scratch marks made by survivors while in a chase. It makes no sense as they are not walking.
-
Obviously. I usually kill them last. Sometimes, when I kill their last teammate, I make them watch. 😁

How far have they progressed? If I work on one for a long time I am tempted to finish it even if I risk it with an approaching killer. Honestly, one of the great things of DbD is the sensation I feel here. I know it is silly but I want to be done with it at all costs.
Usually : half, 3/4 as they are 3 or 4 on it. But while they keep pushing they see me down them and/or hook them one by one and yet they keep trying.
As I said : it almost never end well for them.
@bobateo said:
It can depend.
The Killer is close but seems to be ignoring the gen b/c they're chasing another surv. In this case ,it can be beneficial to stick to the gen and keep working on it, even early game as the other surv(s) are also in range to try a save if the opportunity presents itself. This also counts to a surv moving back to a gen when the Killer engages in chase with another. Especially, if that gen got kicked.
The gen is almost done. Popping a gen guarantees that it cannot be regressed whereas leaving a gen unfinished could mean a significant amount of progress lost or, in the worst cases, all progress lost. This is by and large a judgement call - especially, at 5 gens - but overall survivors will stick to a gen and take a hit if it means they can finish it.
Connection issues. The Killer is a good distance away but suddenly isn't and it's not because they're a high mobility Killer.
'Common knowledge'. JuSt Do GeNs is a common call in DbD, but like 99'ing the gates, etc. context is very important on when to stick a gen and when not to. However, most will default to cranking out gen progress because it's such a repeated mantra.
Learning curve. A little bit related to everything above. Knowing when to stick a gen and when not to is just part of the survivor learning experience. This includes judging distance accurately to get as much progress as possible, but still letting go in time to avoid a hit/down/grab, knowing when to go back even if the Killer is still around, etc.
I should have mentioned the killer I play is usually either Huntress, or more likely Nurse ...
If I was in the same situation, I would scram and start a new gen at the opposite side of the map.
Did I mention it almost never ends well for them? They drop like flies and don't even bother healing when they jump back.
The sunk cost fallacy explanation from @FFirebrandd is the one that rings the most true so far (IMHO). I only see one of our hard-coded flaws to explain it. Although ... The learning curve must also be in play.

Ok, but counterpoint from the survivor perspective:
you work for 45 seconds on a gen, then spend 15 seconds going to rescue and 15 seconds healing, before taking 15 seconds to go back to a gen - 90 seconds of time spent, 45 seconds of gen progress
you immediately go for the unhook, taking 15 seconds to unhook and 15 seconds to heal. You both then go to separate gens, taking 15 seconds each, and then work 45 seconds on two separate gens. The same 90 seconds, 90 seconds worth of gen progress.
survivors prioritizing fast unhooks ultimately brings better gen speeds. the efficiency slowdown for hitting gens before getting unhooks is itself a punishment
There is no way to regress a generator that's finished.
A generator left alone can regress (among other things)

I know players are already planning on looping the killer under or over a hooked survivor on 2 story maps. There's also killer shack, a very strong loop that's right over the basement hooks.
No need for 2 stories maps. I had a self-unhook while chasing 2 survivors close to the hook as Nurse. (And not even that close.)
-
If you were unhooked by another survivor, nothing would prevent the killer to tunnel you either.
This is so you can do something against camping, not against being chased and downed again.

as peanits said, you might be able to punish gens before friends if you return the hook at the correct time.
Yes, I know. That's not what this post is about.
-
@AmpersandUnderscore said:
What even is this post?
If you're camping a hook you're just letting the survivors do whatever they want away from the hook (hint: it's gens).
If you aren't camping the hook, are you examining the scenery? Go chase a survivor off of a gen. That's called pressure.
You don't seem to grasp the concept of gens-before-friends and how to counter it.

If survivors are doing this on corner gens, this might just be them falling victim to Sunk Cost fallacy. They've already spent X amount of time repairing that gen. They don't want to lose that progress to your regression, so they try to force it. Even if they shouldn't.
That makes sense.

@FFirebrandd said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3546128#Comment_3546128
Doesn't mean that's not what they're doing.
In fact, it's easier to break a potential 3 gen before the killer digs in to try and defend one. I'll actively go after middle gens on Ormond and Sanctum of Wrath and similar just to reduce the chances of getting in a 3 gen even though those gens are more risky.
In the middle at least there are incentive (like you said, plus an achievement for Ormond if I recall) . But it also happens on the corners.
-
@FFirebrandd said:
They are probably attempting to prevent you from setting up a 3 gen.
I forgot to mention it was at 5 gens.

@Tsulan said:

They were down yes.

I'll slug them instead of hooking them. With any luck it will occupy some survivor. Better that than doing a gen.

@Peanits said:

Bingo.
If you return to the hook to secure that second stage, the meter does not instantly fill. It will take time some time to fill. Unless you return fairly early and stand incredibly close, chances are they'll hit second stage before it could possibly fill. You'd obviously want to avoid letting it fill completely anyway since doing so would allow the other survivors to continue focusing on generators rather than saving, but it will still absolutely be possible to return briefly to lock it in.
Good to know, thank you.

I want variations of Garden of Joy that have weaker loops/main building or a smaller footprint, so that there is a version of the map that doesn't favour survivors more than killers. This way, playing the offering for Garden of Joy won't be a tactical move used by SWF to secure a win, because it could just as easily backfire and spawn the 'killer sided' variation.
Do this to all unbalanced single-map realms and then map offerings are no longer a tool to troll with, they can be used genuinely to go to a realm of choice for the enjoyment of playing on that realm's aesthetic.
I don't want any realms deleted because that's just miserable, anti-fun rhetoric. Go play Golf or something.
Good point.

That's precisely why it's not necessary. It's not like this will make Macmillan maps any more likely to spawn, just that there will be more differences between them each time. If anything, this introduces the possibility of unbalanced variations of these already balanced maps. We won't know until we see them.
It's the currently unbalanced maps that need more variations, so that the variety makes up for any strengths/weaknesses one might have.
The unbalanced maps I'd rather see balanced or deleted.
I don't want a variation of Garden of Pain or of whatever Singularity's map is called.

@crogers271 said:
Why would it be lost?
The anti-camp meter takes time to build, it's not like if you are within 6m the survivors can freely unhook.
The meter also slows down when other survivors are nearby.
I guess we'll know more tomorrow.
-
Macmillan are pretty balanced maps (so far) so it's a good choice for variety.
-
As long as Trapper has to go fetch his traps, he will not compete.
-
I can't recall having lost a game with my usual killers for these past two weeks. (I've badly lost with the Hag but it was a daily : I don't play her seriously)
The main reason for my streak is the matchmaking mostly giving me players way too weak for me. Only now after two weeks I get teams with prestige 90+)
So yes, it feels the matchmaking has been unfair recently. I'm just on the other side of that problem.
-
Killer is stressful, you get used to it.
Playing killer was making me pretty tense until I've reached around the 1000 hours mark. (I must be at about 3.5k hours now. I need to add the play time of 3 accounts to know the exact value)
At that experience level, "bullies" have a tendencies to die. They are so focused on fooling around while I'm focused on not playing the way they expect (and predict). They are usually too cocky for their own good.
I can only recommend avoiding playing killers too easy to bully like Hag.
Main one of the S or A class killers and sooner or later you'll be fine.

bad survivors are okay, but i can't with selfish survivors even when i'm playing killer. i may even tunnel their useless ******* and let everyone else go if i see an obviously selfishly playing survivor. i never saw that nea in one of my matches after everyone was on death hook and 1 dead, i was like "hey there had to be a 4th survivor in the lobby?!" i finally found her and killed her and man she was salty that the other person was given hatch, which made me extremely happy.
but as survivor after seeing a teammate (or multiple) is clearly a newer player, i just sigh and press m1, doesn't stress me so much anymore.
I also tend to go all vengeful when I see that 😅
The issue isn't that the survivor may be new. It's that he is grouped with survivors an order of magnitude better than him and ruins their efforts.
I like to win as killer* but not like that.
*) as survivor too but I play solo-Q so I don't feel so much responsibility when I don't ...

@Yatol said:
not gonna happen every game
Certainly. I rarely see a rage-quit. Most players I go against keep trying even if they only did one gen (if that) with eight hooks (happens sometimes when they play aggressively).
Still, it shouldn't be rocket science to change the code so that four bots = end game.
It could even be at 3 bots : it must not be so nice to play survivor with 3 bots.
-
@[Deleted User] said:
I don't want to play when there's one bot, let alone 4. That goes for either side. I just want out of the game. D/C penalty should turn off after someone else d/cs.

i think sitting in a corner and letting them do gens is probably faster than trying to kill them . They should def make it so that there’s no dc penalty when 2+ ppl dc..
Unless they are SWF. Else it would be exploitable (schedule disconnections to minimise the penalty)

Agree with Garden but heavily disagree on Toba.
I never had any negative experiences on that map. It’s not that bad of a map
I find it too much cluttered and I barely see anything on it. Same idea as Borgo, different colors.
-
I kind of see the picture but what did he do to the last survivor in the end? Did you heal him after he was smacked?
Sometimes players have an idea and it's hard to get what they want.
These last four years, I had only a handful of bad experiences as survivor. The worst IMHO was from sandbagging survivors who then got joined by the killer in blocking me. They got thoroughly reported to BHVR with a movie showing it all.
Killers being annoying without any apparent reasons? I got a couple. Not an issue.
When all is said and done, survivors are the reason I don't enjoy playing (solo) survivor so much.
-
Maps used to be much darker.
It was great for "immersive" play.
-
Actually, S would translate to "Overwhelming strength".
That being said I don't agree with the tier list on too many point to even start discussing it.
I agree Trapper & Myers are at the bottom though.
-
If someone bodyblocks off the hook, I'll follow for a few seconds, hit and hook him.
They don't do it twice, usually.
-
That's not the worst map.
That title goes to whatever is the name of Singularity's map. Garden of pain would be a close second.
-
They should disappear.
I always make a point of making the game as unfun as possible whenever I'm being sent to a stupid map.
