I'm a Nurse with about 30000 registered blink attacks and I have the same issue (PC/Steam)
I can't reproduce the issue reliably but it happens about 4 or 5 times during one match.
What did you do to break the Nurse again?
Note: sometimes I feel like starting a new blink doesn't work immediately either. It's so weird. Maybe it's the same issue.
-
Since MFT exists, I've stopped playing most killers and I don't plan changing this until the constant 3% is gone.
I'm probably not an exception.

The reality is, holding m1 is boring, but thats all there is to do as survivor. What they need is 1 of 2 things.
A) A new game mode that makes chases the main part of the game (1v1 mode perhaps kind of like what people have now based on how fast you get the down?) Where you take turns and see who can get the most downs in x number of seconds or its based on who gets the down faster (think like overwatches payload maps/mode). Perhaps this could become their "ranked" mode and the current one we play is the "fun" mode. Because with such a mode, now we don't have to worry about whether killers and survivors are properly balanced around each other, because the "fun" mode can just be about fun. And the ranked mode now doesn't matter. If pig sucks for example, who cares, because you'll take turns playing pig and its about who downs faster, not about killing some number of survivors. So weaker killers are "balanced" such that its about who can down faster with that same killer not competing in some asymmetrical mess.
B) Completely overhaul the game to make chases the main part of the game, such as, you don't hold m1 on gens, you go around and collect generator parts and place them. Each gen has say, 5 parts you need to get spread around the map and are all tied to a specific gen (highlighted when picking up the part) and installing the part takes say, 5 seconds. Putting all the parts on finishes the gen. And rebalance the game for winning based on hooks instead of kills to incentivize chases and not camping/tunneling.
C) Another idea i have heard is turn the game into a teambased 5v5 (could be a separate mode) Where you have 2 killers and 8 survivors on the same map and they are competing for objectives. Your team's killer is stopping the other team's survivors and vice versa. And now, again, you aren't so worried about balance factors as hard because if survivors are super OP or killers are super OP, you have a set of survivors and a killer and your team as well so the asymmetrical imbalance is less of a problem.
Obviously B has tons of implications for completely overhauling the game and would need some kind of number tweaks and playtesting, balance decisions, perks, etc. But i think anything that encourages survivors to not sit and hold m1 but be moving around the map and having more interactions with the killer. And C is like an entirely different game, but the point still stands that something needs to happen.
Completely agree. It's a bit like what I've suggested with my most recent thread. (Played Nurse, didn't kill, only chased and slugged and the survivors had a blast. I did too.)
-
Being on a chase, or hiding "in plain sight" from the killer.
These are the two things that I love the most when playing survivor. Doing gens is boring.
-
If games are too easy, play nice. (e.g. don't hook anymoe)
If games are too hard : tunnel & camp. (And play Blight & Nurse)

I have over 3,500 hours combined of playing this game and I have only had three survivors DC very rarely. Like everyone seems to say in this forum, if it's rare, don't complain.
Usually they give up as soon as one DC. However with bots it may be different.
-
Probably because they said tunneling (as camping) was a valid strategy.
What would you say if the devs nerfed doing gens in parallel or keeping working on a gen that's already partially repaired?
-
@GoodBoyKaru said:
You're better off learning Blight tbh he's somehow avoided nerfs left right and centre while even Sadako has been catching strays
That's good advice. Blight is easier than Nurse and at least as powerful in the good hands.
Compared to her, he is weaker on multi-floors but stronger on bigger maps (IMHO).
-
Good luck. Expect to lose a lot at first.
I suggest you spend your first games just learning the blinks. Thankfully you can now play killer with bots which makes it so much easier to learn outside of the normal games.
When you've got the blinks, you'll need to learn all the maps and how to reach every nook and cranny from anywhere.
Once you are satisfied with that, you can start chasing bots then real people.
Expect to spend a couple of weeks over this. (Depending on your daily game time)
...
And then, you'll see why Nurse has one of the lowest kill rates, statistics-wise. (She mostly wins against survivors who have no clue how to verse her. The others will surprise you with their crafty technique.)
-
Nurse will be a problem for you as long as you don't learn to verse her.
Just play her for a while and see how easily she can lose.
I've been called a god Nurse on many occasions yet I lose a bit less than half* of my games. (~30k registered blink attacks so far.)
Survivors who beat me do not give up, know how to be unpredictable, know all the Nurse weaknesses and how to exploit them. Recently I've even versed players who managed to doge hits point-blank by dodging "hatchet"-style just when I'm about to hit after a blink. They obviously know the timing perfectly.
Then you have the survivors who try to handle me as they would any M1 killer. Needless to say it doesn't go well for them.
*) still probably a bit better than the Nurse statistics that are putting her as one of the worst killers except in high MMR where she is average.
-
@GeneralV said:
I had fun playing against Nurse, to be honest. I liked the challenge.
And if the match was clearly a stomp, then I liked to see how many blinks in a row I could dodge. Sometimes I even managed to dodge all 5.
That's also what I like the most when I verse the Nurse. If she's good I'm very happy to last for a while.
I just had another match a bit like the one that made me post this.
The Leon was very good at dodging me and after the first hook, I've only slugged them. They all lost about 50% of life in a slug state yet ...

@MB666 said:
average nurse gameplay, what are you expecting? I like how nurse is probably the only killer that can run a entire meme build and still win 24/7 because how busted she still is when played correctly.
about "new gamemodes" , idk bud, BHVR probably doesnt like that.
You are obviously not playing Nurse. You only have to look at BHVR's statistics to see Nurse hasn't a high win rate.
That being said, the fact I was playing Nurse wasn't the point. Any killer would do. It's only a Nurse because that's the killer I play the most.

Yeah, I usually get that too, but every once in awhile they complain saying I should of just killed them, I'm wasting their time, and that I'm boring.
I recall a similar experience a while ago, with similar feedback from the survivors. But they were pretty cocky (although without the skills to match the cockiness) and one was a streamer. This is pretty rare in my experience.

I think it's still present people tend to quantify it differently.
You often know what to expect which lessens any kind of surprises but the threat of elimination is still very real and the prime motivator for you to escape.
What's happens is the motivation changes players change from "Help I need to escape' to "AH I need the BP's and pips!" Fighting to get the former is thrilling but fighting to get the latter is tedious.
If the focus has shifted to the latter then that's a good time to take a break to get back to focusing on the thrill of escaping not the tedium of grinding. Grinding will be tedious no matter what the game mechanic is so why make the game mechanic tedious also.
Makes sense.
@Uxoxe said:
It's the Nurse. I bet you win 95% of your games when you play seriously. What's even the point.
You'll be surprised to learn I win a bit less than 60% of my games. At higher MMRs there are quite a lot of survivors who know how to actually verse a Nurse. It's even easier now after her last Nerf. Keep in mind some survivors where winning against Omega Nurse : she is far from that level of threat now. I presume it may be easier with add-ons but I don't like to use them.
The point wasn't about the Nurse though.
@Rudjohns said:
No need for game mode
DBD needs to change. Kill all 4 survivors should not be the winning condition. Having fun with a somewhat "long" match should be. And theres plenty of changes that could be done to that
Agreed, but this could be the beginning of an idea of these changes. (Among others.)

I get that, and I'd be fine with that to a point. If it became popular enough that matchmaking in the regular game mode became problematic, that'd probably be the end for me.
I don't imagine at least half the player base is made of masochists. The current game mode has still a long future in front of it.

That's disgusting and you should report it.

You played that way because you knew you won the game basically. I guess you could co-ordinate custom games through a discord or something? A couple of weeks ago I played some 1v1 as survivor vs a killer to train my flashlight since I use controller as well as see how long I'd last. I came to the conclusion I am pretty bad vs Huntress, I fall for all the tricks in the book.
And I'd like to do it again tbh. But Idk how it'll limit people from being dickheads and bringing broken stuff or playing in obnoxious ways rather than train. Because to disable perks and add-ons doesn't really offer the best practice for real games imo.
Yes, but the point is that everybody had fun in the end. I don't know about the obnoxious stuff either but I wonder what'll happen if the main annoyance of the game are put aside.
@Xxjwaynexx said:
I do this often. Some games I play to win others I go into just practice prediction blinks, like can only M2 and only on the first blink, the second is only for distance. Ive found that playing for chases and downs even is way more fun than kills, I'll usually cycle them until 8 hooks then let them finish
Chases is always more fun than anything else in the match. Win or lose. This is true for all the killers I play but especially Nurse. I just love being bamboozled by a good survivor. There are magicians out there.
@[Deleted User] said:
I guess a mode like that could work. On another note, always get the “love you Billy” when I play this way too. Though we can have the exact type of game except I kill and suddenly I’m the devil.
Yes, because gens being done and being killed is not fun for most players. Hence the idea.
@pseudechis said:
I kinda disagree about a game mode without kills.
Its basically respawn farm mode, which is DBD at its dullest.
I don't mind if people want to have a farm but honestly I'd appreciate it more if the Nurse had just brutally crushed us all and we moved on with the game.
DBD shines when the killer is a monster, when you are under no threat its pretty boring to play survivor in those circumstances.
The safer you feel as survivor the less thrilling the game is, a game mode where you are basically completely safe as survivor and just get to farm points is just completely un-thrilling. While the concept might appease those who dislike losing for a while, the replay-ability would eventually nosedive given the complete lack of game intensity.
That thrill usually disappears after a few hundred of hours anyway. I've not feared a killer for a very long time and I seldom see a player being afraid of my killer, even as Nurse. (Annoyed, yes)
@AssortedSorting said:
How do you address the case in which the Killer isn't good at chase and it becomes a waiting game for Survivors? If the Killer is too good, and chases get done too quickly, how do you address Survivors being on the floor for most of the match?
Good points. This makes me think that a bastard could keep everyone slugged. Maybe a base-kit Unbreakable in that mode? Or a respawn of the survivors far from the killer?
As for a killer too weak for the survivors, that should be the job of the MMR. (Granted, it doesn't always work.)
Maybe this mode should allow both sides to concede. Since time isn't an issue for any side, concession could even be partial.
@Maelstrom808 said:
Pass from me. I get that chases are the most fun part of the game, but a game of only chases would be boring as hell. I like the strategy involved in who to down and when, where to hook, when to defend the hooks and when to patrol.
It would only be an alternative game mode. We still need the normal mode for whoever doesn't enjoy a more casual experience.

I have nothing against that principle.
-
Before MFT: most of them except Onryo, Artist and Twins. (I've not acquired Skull merchant and Singularity)
After MFT: Nurse & Blight.

I'm only playing Nurse and Blight until that perk stops giving infinite 3% speed. (Not that I play a lot nowadays. I'm having way more fun with other games.)

Never said there was, just saying often times ppl will insist the killer is picking on them because their teammates don't get hit or downed as much as they do. They don't see how many huntress hatchetes their teammates are dodging but just come to the conclusion huntress Is only throwing hatchets at THEM.
True. So true.

I found this alot back in the day. I USE to play on PC and would have the joys of endgame chat (playing on Switch now, so no chat). I got alot of ppl asking what they did to deserve being tunneled. Wouldn't even cross their minds that their teammates were just better than them. I didn't hook you twice in a row because I hate you, but because your teammates WON their chases and therefore didn't get hooked. I'm also not gonna throw a match insisting on chasing 1 of their teammates for an extended amount of time. I might leave that chase and check the gen that that one survivor who can't loop me for longer than 10 seconds has been hyper fixated on.
Alot of ppl are blind to the whole picture and only remember chases that involve them. I legit got accused of tunneling the last survivor at EGC who I caught opening the exit gates once.
Accuse? Nothing wrong with tunneling.
-
Absolutely not.
At that rate, most games would end up being against bots.
-
My fix it to stop playing.
-
Hey, one less possible interaction. Not an important one though. It will only make saves with two survivor way safer.
-
Same here. Happened twice (and I will not try a third time until I know it's fixed)
I've played a match as killer (Blight) twice.
Both times, I've broken a pallet and I've set a survivor as exposed (both times using the invitation power) and yet I didn't get the rift.
I did it the same way twice.
The first time I've let the four survivors escape.
The second time I've killed three.
I didn't get the rift.

Matchmaking has always been slow in the morning and fast on the evening. Although maybe not that slow.

Whether you like Tru3 or not, the video is pretty funny.
It will be nerfed when the required number of sales are made.
This isn't even the nastiest build.
I kind of enjoy Tru3, as long as he doesn't sing 😅
edit: yes, this is a perfect example of how stupid that perk is. And that was a 3 vs 1 with only one MFT.
-
The perk is equipped by almost every survivor and for good reason. (Usually with high synergy builds)
Sooner or later they'll fix the busted perk. In the mean time playing survivor (or another game) is best.
-
Gen-rushing (properly) and ignoring hooks is kind of the standard way to play.
The answer is to tunnel, ensure a hook state by camping when appropriate (usually for 30 seconds).
-
It's always fine. Gens are flying too fast and survivors are a pain to catch (Made for this builds) so the only way is to get rid of what you can ASAP.
-
I find it hilarious. Most of the time, survivors don't get why I don't hit them when I clearly could. They suddenly stop running, puzzled, and a second later : boom. 🤣
-
As killer, on smaller maps : chases, mind games, survivors goofing off/"bullying" and not having gens flying off.
As killer on bigger/cluttered/safe maps: nothing.
As survivor : chases, mind games, not doing the gens.

Sounds fun : I may try the Druid next. 😄
I'm doing a skeleton-army/exploding-bodies Necro. Generally enjoyable.
-
It's on the queue as it's being released in about ten days. I expect to have "finished" my first Diablo IV character by then. The trick is to always finish a game by the time the next one on the queue is being released.
-
That was obvious but apparently they don't care. There are still enough people playing killer.
I've solved the issue with a tight schedule : Diablo IV, System Shock and Final Fantasy XVI for the foreseeable future, then Starfield. I'll be busy for a while. (While still keeping tabs on the game : I'm curious how bad it'll need to be for the perk to be changed.)
-
-
Only if you play killer.
I've got a radical solution for this problem.

Fine. Keep the addon.
Just remove map offering's ability to guarantee an indoor map.
Burning a map offering means you WON'T go to a specific realm instead.
Do you know how much killers would love to banish map offerings?

The genrush problem is a fundamental one. It should be solved by game rules and not by perk.
Same for tunneling/camping or the perception of (meaning if the game makes it so, it may be a positive thing for survivors)
-
Every obvious cheater I've reported has been banned after about 4 weeks. (I've kept track.)

I'd suggest you wait for the anniversary release before deciding anything. Or at least we get some feedback from tomorrow's PTB.
More specifically the anti-camp mechanic that may be the last straw against playing killer.
If you want to only play survivor it's fine though.

Well, facecamping is just standing in clear view of the hook- it hasn't had the requirement of touching the survivor model or near about since they removed the ability to block unhooks. So, the typical range already isn't just melee range, it's any range where the killer can see value while just standing in one place.
As for the specifics of 16 metres, I don't know if that's too much! It'll depend on some other factors we don't know about yet, and we'll all have a grand time testing it on the PTB.
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3434035#Comment_3434035
Does that actually change anything meaningfully, though? Because honestly, I don't think slightly-off-so-not-quite-facecamping is any better than "true" facecamping if the gameplay is exactly the same.
On some map, in clear view can be 50 meters away.
Face camping has always been right next to the hook. Originally it was standing right in front to prevent any unhook attempt.
If they prevent proxy camping they can be ready to get a lot of negative feedback (not to mention how silly the plays will look in game)

Not true at all.
If killers underperform, they will get buffs too. Like how they got before.
Face-camping was very boring and unhealthy game design for years. It needed to go. Tunnelling should be next. And toolboxes & gen progression perks also needs to be gutted.
Unhealthy mechanics should not exist in DbD anymore.
Unhealthy is a point of view.
Ever limiting the choice of a player only makes the game more stale.
At this rate, sooner or later, they'll kill it.
-
@jesterkind said:
Gens before friends is how you counter facecamping right now, though? So that's kind of backwards.
Gens before friends also means that while you have someone on the hook, you can go chase + down someone else and it's entirely possible the first survivor is still on the hook, so it's again the inverse of the camping situation.
The only thing you can punish by camping is actually an excess of altruism, where survivors linger and loop around their hooked teammate and don't go back to their generators.
That's not it. You counter camping by doing gens and ignoring the camped hook.
Pushing gens without going to the hook until the last second is "gens before friends", it doesn't counter face camping.
Going back to the hook to force a hook state is how you punish that tactic. If, like some suggested, proxy camping would still work, then there is no issue as punishing would still work too.
