Or tunneling and slugging is fair and your using your made up survivor rulebook to think it's not. Tunneling and slugging will always exist and there's no amount of crying you can do to get rid of it.

    careful, dont tempt them lol

Is this not one of the main criticisms of implementing some kind of system like this? The frustration of killers with this new system,  “being forced to play one certain way”. But in order to counter things like tunneling and slugging, powerful tools that are not balanced at all like perks, you are forced into playing a certain way, because you have to bring those counters.

And to be honest, every time posts were made about the criticism of tunneling or slugging the answer was always to: don’t like it, bring perks. But now, with tunneling no longer being as efficient and has downsides, the answer is not: don’t like it, don’t tunnel. Which seems inconsistent. As then the position seems to be: survivors being forced to run anti-tunnel perks to counter tunneling is fine. But killers being forced to change their play style with tunneling is unreasonable?

Also telling people that they won’t get tunneled if they won’t go down is like telling killers they won’t lose the match if they kill all survivors before a single gen pops. It’s not reasonable. Not to mention that it is possible that you can go the entire game without going down and still lose, because if the killer closes hatch and starts EGC, you can die without being hit one time.

well you're not being forced but perks like DS and/or DH were implemented to help deal (Not delete!) with tunneling. You dont have to use them but you can and they can help combat it if you feel you're facing tunneling often.

well because its a strategy, something we can try to get value on the current situation but still has a chance to fail, why should we be punished for that? why should we answer to "dont like it, dont tunnel" when survivors refuse to answer to "dont like it, bring perks".

not really a good comparison, especially since not a lot of ppl can kill all 4 survivors before a gen pops. you wont always find the hatch every single time and i've had some survivors escape by hatch, sometimes even spawned underneath them. Its really 50/50

Perks should not be required to fix base-game issues. You should not need to bring gen regression or anti-tunnel in order to have an acceptable experience.

Likewise, saying "dont go down" in 2025 is absolutely crazy.

well they're not required, you're not being forced to use them. They are there to help you in whatever you're struggling in. Simply put: If you're struggling with tunneling use anti-tunnel perks, if you refuse to then you cant complain about getting tunneled when you do.

theres nothing crazy about it. Killer cant tunnel you if you never go down in the first place. whats really crazy is that you feel entitled to not doing any problem-solving or higher thinking when faced with a problem or just that the game should give you a dozen basekits

except your fun is not the Killer's job.

Doesn't mean killers should go out of their way to ruin it.

And if you think 'but it's just the most efficient way to play', that brings us to this patch.

well, we dont. most of us KM's dont que up for a trial and go: "alright, cant wait to ruin survivors fun hehehe", we que up intending to give it our best. If you go and think "the killer ruined my fun by tunneling me", thats on you guys not us.

we're brought to this patch because survivor whined too much after getting outplayed and lost.

  • except your fun is not the Killer's job. you're responsible for your own fun. there are anti-tunnel/slug perks, use them, otherwise if you refuse and get tunneled or slugged thats your own fault. Also the killer cant tunnel or slug you if you never go down

Me writing posts and asking questions doesn't change my decision. And if a player isnt allowed to have there own thoughts on something them whats the point in having feedback. Regardless if there negative or a little bit unnecessary.

Where afraid because if the Survivors Gen Rush The Gens there's nothing the Killer can do about it because they cant Kill until 6 total hooks stats. And Rushing there Objective is Tunneling

yea its a scary thought. wont know what will happen for sure until they make the decision whether or not to go live with it.

So Im not allowed to go after little Timmy that follows me around for hours and runs into me every five seconds.

they wont listen man. look at the cringey attempts of them trying to convince you that this is all good and all in the killer's favor when really its just them mad they got tunneled and/or slugged once and now just want any/all killer strategy deleted. its the "sore loser" mentality.

    they want babysitters, not Killers

  • I mean all we see is the picture of killer and survivors. dont see his name, if he was perkless, could've also lost on purpose as survivor and even tunnel as The nightmare even though he said he's against it. He could be lying for all we know. Like you said he'd need to post his games for us to watch.

  • @XboxPlayur said:

thank you survivor mains for the pretentious answers, but no you haven’t been “getting punished” for doing the objective. Sure they implemented a slowdown because if you could stack up and do a gen in 20 seconds the game wouldn’t be fun for anybody. But luckily for you I can provide an exact reciprocation of these rules and you still tell me if it sounds fun?
    1. You can only work on 1 gen for 33% progression, then you have to go to another and you get minuscule buffs that won’t really help all that much.

    2. If you work on the same gen to 66% straight no buffs, but that gen will have backward skill checks/ no notification skill checks that make it harder to go.

    3. If at any point in the match you complete the last ten that was worked on, you can no longer heal your teammates and the killer gains a haste boost.

Just spread gens guys, it’s not that hard and it’s actually very toxic of you to just sit there and work on one gen in the killers face.

But in all honesty I’m not interested in the opinion of people who never play killer so you actually have no understanding of what this is going to do for the game. But since you so obviously hate the game, you’re in luck, because these changes will fix the killer queue times by making killers leave the game in droves. Punishing one side because the other feels bad that they can’t just make bad/greedy plays over and over like their favorite twitch streamer without getting punished is not the way to “fix” a game. Especially when the side being punished is, by design of the game, supposed to be the “power role™️”. I think incentivizing killer to not tunnel with slight buffs, and enabling survivors to escape these situations easier would’ve been fine. But the dramatic punishment of killers for situations that can arise naturally in the game without tunneling is way too much, it over complicates the game making new killers less likely to have any amount of fun, and turns enables the survivors to be more greedy/toxic/bad with no repercussions.

TLDR: survivors are not being punished for completing their objective. no you’re not getting tunneled, you’re just bad at the game. Stop playing like your favorite streamer and learn to play smart. Most responders in this thread clearly have no idea how killer actually plays and I envy them. The incentivization to not tunnel and more survivor tunnel avoidance is fine, the punishments are too harsh and broad sweeping for non-tunneling situations. If these changes go out as is, the killer queue will be much shorter (yippy!), and BHVR will support other businesses by making the new Halloween game more popular no matter how bad it is. GLHV survivors! remember all your posts about how toxic killers are when there are none left.

I mean look at all the comments by these survivors mains, their not even making an effort to see things from our light but like you said most (if not all) never touched killer and if they have it was only at low mmr. trolling or entitled responses. It would be hilarious watching them all lose their minds if the devs decide not to go live with this 🤣

Lol. Plenty of killers will drop the game if these changes hit live, because SWF will basically be an instant "I Win" button against all but 2, maybe 3 killers.

I know, because I'm one of them lol. I havent touched the game since the Streetwise and Fog Vial patch, and now I have no intentions of coming back any time soon, if ever. I'm not going to play a pvp game where I'm punished for playing well or capitalizing on opponent's mistakes.

While you're staring at ten minute queues, I'll be skonging.

Oh so then you would not mind if they removed that? Hell yeah I'd love being able to do the safest gen five times in a row for an easy win.

So in other words crogers was right and that the devs should push this update forward to deal with toxic killers.

yea then they'll just be toxic survivors but we dont need to deal with them right?

  • I'll say this final thing to those defending the anti-tunneling ptb:

How the killer plays shouldnt be up to the survivors, just as how the survivors play shouldnt be up to the killer. Both sides should be allowed to play how they want without being ridiculed for it.

  • @crogers271 said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3991578#Comment_3991578

I'll give it a go off the top of my head:

Survivors are penalized by trying to tunnel a gen by losing gen progress

Each time they complete an objective, it becomes harder to advance their overall objective as the killer has less to defend

Survivors have actually had strategies wiped out (i.e. forced to play) such as going for WTP+BU plays or unbreakable builds (the fix for the latter not just addressing the issue, but giving the killer more strong hook locations)

Survivors lose access to some of their strongest perks and AFC in end game, even though all they did was complete their objective, making it easier for the killer to secure a kill

Windows block after three vaults even though all the survivor is doing is their objective of staying away from the killer

Killers gain bloodlust, again even though again the survivor is just doing what they are supposed to.

Most of those were/are good for the game, but let's not act like the killer doesn't gain benefits just when the survivors are doing well.

if you're talking about the gen kick "catch up" survivors have to do that came after they nerf'd 3-gen strat. That also nerf'd gen-tapping and the 8 gen kick, survivor did ask for that.

I mean thats just the flow of the match. if you mean 3-genning then just spead your gens apart, not just do one next to the other back to back.

killers have lost some too. gen kick builds like brine/OC/erupt or m1 builds stbfl/surge (cant use m2 with these).

killers have also lost some of their strong perks, some that are a shadow of their former selves (Pop, Pain res, ruin, BBQ "the BP stacks", just to name a few). while killers can secure the kill its usually at the cost of 1 or more gens popping.

well the same goes for the gen blocking the killer after 8 kicks, the killer is doing what their supposed to do.

well not all killers have the same movement speed and even the survivor is doing what their supposed to do, some will loop the killer around pallet forever just to get the 100% pallet stun

yea but lets also not act like survivors arent able to get a 4man escape even when the killer plays well too.

  • @Foggyguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3991578#Comment_3991578

Survivors are punished for doing their objective by reducing the area killers need to patrol. Survivors are punished for working together on a gen together (technically this one was not at the very start but almost immediately added).

thats in no way the same thing. the map size reduction was because survivor kept complaining about facing mobile killers (blight/nurse/kaneki) so survivors did that to themselves. yea if your perkless with no toolbox, plus all you need to do is split up and do multiple gens.

  • @AmpersandUnderscore said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3991548#Comment_3991548

I didn't think you understand this mechanic.

Because even if you're tunneling, you still get free BBQ and pop until that survivor dies.

The only time this mechanic comes into play at all is if there are 6 hooks or less total, and the survivor who dies was also the most recently hooked survivor.

So you can literally trade, hook survivors 1, 1, 2, 1, kill someone off, have zero downsides, and get free buffs at the same time.

Just because you can't turn your brain off and follow the first moving thing you see to death without.. strategy... Doesn't mean this is going to have a big impact.

Every single aspect of this mechanic is completely in the killers control.

I do, i've read the patch notes

they didnt say how much the pop will give and the BBq only reveals survivors with less or equal hook states

this takes away the killers freedom of you to chase, especially if all four survivors are the same character and wearing the same skins

these buffs arent permanent and are lessened for The Blight, The Dark Lord, The Ghoul, The Hillbilly, and The Nurse.

killer's brains are never turned off, even when their tunneling. We follow the first thing survivor we see cause thats what were suppose to do, chase/hit/down/hook. I get it you hate going against smart killers, thats why you hate and demonize the word "strategy". we'll see what impact it has when it goes live

No, the killer doesnt have any control with this mechanic besides the way you survivors want us too.

Lol, already conceding the point by realizing survivors have been punished for doing their objective since the start of the game huh.

didnt concide anything. yea and now killers are going to be punished for doing their objective

  • @Foggyguy said:

Tell you what? If they remove gen efficency penalty for when there's multiple survivors on one gen and make it that you can repair the same gen over and over again instead of shrinking the number of gens you can do and you may have had a point. Unfortunately you don't.

ok then only one survivor can work on any gen at any one time with no immunities

  • @Green_Sliche said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3991026#Comment_3991026

Rushing a gen while survivor is being chased or looping on strong tiles are also cheap tactics but they aren't getting nerfed because what else should survivors be doing, right? For some reason eliminating a survivor out of the game asap when needed is bad and killer should shoot it's own foot in order to extend the game so survivors stay in the game for as long as possible. Meanwhile there's no incentive or reason for survivor players to not do gens asap and escape. Logic has left the chat as it seems.

I've found its pointless using logic with them, basically their saying is: "Rules for thee but not for me"

  • @cogsturning said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3990616#Comment_3990616

Survivors didn't decide. Killers decided by playing dirty too often and taking away other players' agency. And those players make up 80% of a match. It's logical to give the 80% a buff if they're all universally unhappy.

If these tactics were rare, this wouldn't have been an issue. And if you didn't engage with them before, you'll be buffed and unharmed going forward.

no, they do. "killers play dirty?" oh you mean playing smart, you know since its 4 players (the survivors) vs 1 player (the killer). so lets make the 80% happy and heck with the 20% (the KM's).

these tactics were rare until survivors kept whining about getting gen regression perks gutted (Pop, pain res). survivors had the means to combat camp/tunnel/slug but felt entitled to not use perks and say that KM's should "just not do it". if you really think these changes are buffs and harmless, thats some next level delusion or you're a wolf in sheepskin (survivor main in KM skin)

Unless there is gonna be a huge change to how Killer doesn't need to tunnel and Slug im not touching this game.

It's not even on the PTB and we don't have concrete numbers for anything yet. Right now it's just killers whining about how they're worried changes to make tunnelling and slugging less effective are actually going to make tunnelling and slugging less effective. Gasp - the horror!

survivors do the same thing whenever killer buffs come out. we'd be less worry if they reverted some gen regression perks back like Pop or pain res otherwise we have no way to pressure, the fact that you dont realise that is whats horrifying.

Haha, I would LOVE to become a zombie survivor. That would actually make playing against Nemesis kinda fun

I would love more options for zombies to encourage different styles of play for sure! ☺️

Faster zombies, a 3rd zombie addon, anything would be awesome! 👏

Yea even give Nemmy another button that orders zombies to move to "this location" wherever they are on the map or give them a periodic "Rage mode" where it turns them into "Crimsonheads" like the ones in Resident Evil remake

  • The Nemesis

    1. Whipping Generators: Tier 2/3 Tentacle Whip should damage Generators as if they were kicked
    2. Shattered S.T.A.R.S Badge (add-on change): 150% increase movement speed for zombies are always active
    3. Survivor Zombification (new added mechanic): If a survivor dies by any means while contaminated they will respawn as an additional Zombie they can control , if they choose to leave they will not receive DC Penalty and will be replace with a zombie Bot. (survivors controlling zombies can earn additional BPs for Zombie events: Attacking survivors, bodyblocking Nemesis/other survivors or feeding Nemesis mutation), vaccine chests respawn.
    4. Iridecent Umbrella Badge (add-on rework): Nemesis starts the trial at Tier 3 Mutation but zombies no longer spawn (excluding Zombified Survivors)
    5. Cerberus and Licker add-ons: add-ons that turn zombies into these enemy types. Maybe the licker has increased detection range or can detect based on sound (running, grunts of pain, vaulting) while having long range attack but moves slowly on the ground/walls/ceiling). Cerberus could attack like Houndmaster's Dog, holding them in place and despawning after survivor knocks them off.
    6. Zombie Mori: If a zombie is nearby a survivor in the dying state Nemesis can hit a button prompt for the zombie to mori the survivor without nemesis having to be near (survivor controlled zombies can also mori survivors by walking up to downed survivor and hitting the "kill" prompt).

Not really. I just don't understand the urge of "buff strong killer" when there are weak killers that need buffs or reworks. Nemesis doesn't need any buffs, because he's currently in very good spot after his late buffs.

regardless of whether he's strong or weak (he's B Tier at most), there are still improvement they could add and those are my suggestions. I dont understand the urge to come on to a post about a specific killer just to complain about buffing weak killers, go make a suggestion post for whatever weak killers you want buffed/rework.

yea kind of like when they heard of the nurse nerf a while back, acted like it was the end of some oppression. seeing it in some posts talking about "Phase 2" cause 2 basekits werent enough, god forbid survivors use the counters that are already there.

I don't know why you are surprised. Blight and Nurse are the only S tier killers allowed. Any new killer that accidentally ends up in S tier will be nerfed to A or B tier shortly after release.

well I kind of feel like once or twice is enough but I guess they'll nerf a killer as many times as the survivors want

I dont play survivor often but i have fun with all the fast killers, in chase its just me running around screaming while laughing even if I do get downed (which is 50/50)

  • well it sure as hell doesnt exist in yours, if not mine

This sort of "my 4k" entitlement is exactly why the game needs adjusting. Killers think they deserve to win. Survivors expect to die. So very balanced.

and we can say the same thing about survivors. "Survivors think they deserve to escape, Killers expect to get no kills"

Question, would you be okay if the devs added infinites back into the game? After all it would just be the survivors playing efficiently if they ran them right?

No i wouldnt but then again theres no way to break infinites, there is for camp/tunnel/slug. comparing infinites to strategy is a weak argument

  • @Virtualguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3966093#Comment_3966093

In 6.1.0 they giga buffed killers in so many ways to encourage them not to feel the need to tunnel. It only increased the amount of tunneling and camping because of how easy it was. You can't carrot bad actors that enjoy ruining the game for others you need a stick.

ugh, can you just come out and say it. "killer mains cant play efficiently".

  • @Virtualguy said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3965656#Comment_3965656

That's not really a viable solution since survivors don't know someone is being camped until they see it. If they made kindred basekit I think this would be better but it still has the issue of killers should not be able to just ruin someone's game with no counterplay.

It is and survivors do know, seriously you walk over to hook, hear the TR (unless its a stealth killer), go do gens, its not rocket science. there game is only ruined cause they lost and again: camping + do gens = counterplay

  • If someone is being camped, go do separate gens until they reach struggle phase, it would cost the killer 3 gens per survivor being camped

  • @GeneralV said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3965503#Comment_3965503

    Yep, she was fine.

The 3 gen thing was over. The perks that enabled it were nerfed, the game no longer allowed it, and her kit was also not good for it anymore. Problem solved.

yea, I say just revert her back to 2.0, no rework is needed

  • @GeneralV said:

My friend, while I am having fun with her, more than any other killer, it is still extremely unfair that she was nerfed for absolutely no reason. Her kit no longer caused any problems for the game, the 3 gen thing was over.

Worst of all is that the design previews for the rework are terrible. No only do they look unfun to play as and against, but they also completely erase her identity. She shouldn't have a dash, she shouldn't have a mid range M2, she is a trap killer and should remain that way.

I strongly support reverting her back to 2.0 and then leave her be. It is, in my opinion, the best option.

Yea i felt like it didnt make a lot of sense that they nerf'd her a 3rd time and did the 8-gen kick nerf at the same time. 2.0 Skull merchant was fine
