you need to have different expecations in solo queue. You will lose a bit more in solo queue, as you can't talk to your teammates, you will make assumptions they are doing "bad" things, when they very well may have a reason for what they are doing, but you wont' know.
You have to accept that solo queue is harder then with groups, and either find a way to have fun/enjoy those games, or move one. This game will not adapt to you. I can have fun in solo queue most days, but there are days where I get frustrated as well, but overall, it can be fine, as long as you don't spend 95% of your time judging other players for doing things you don't think they should be doing, but remember, they are probably judging you for things you are doing.
-
gg is a default.
I like it better then "while that was easier then I thought it be" from a killer
or "hahaha, you suck" from a bully squad
or, "How dare you play like" that from anyone.
-
some of the moris seem a bit powerful, but often, but I feel it is for killers, to use after a game, where they get face stomped by a bully squad, the next group sort of is there as a stress reliever mori experience. Is it fair to them no, but alas, circle of life.
i sometimes think i'm enjoying a close game as a killer, and then the players all escape with a key. That ruins the killers game. I do think both are bad for the game, but I do love killer animations. I think moris are a little worse, but I don't think they are going away.
-
If we could agree the company we would still play as much as we did, if they took away 90% of the grinding for perks to open up more play, I'd be ok with that.
I believe there are some players that will play this game over 700+ to thousands of hours to unlock all perk combos
But I have to believe, there are more like me, that play on average a game like this 200 to 500 hours, (which lets be honest IS a lot of time) but won't really get to have the freedom of a ton of perk options due to the grind in this game.
I will play this game until a ton of other games come out and my gaming friends all move on. Having to grind perks is not what keeps me in this game. I didn't have to grind perks/abilities in the nearly 600 hours (an insane number for me) in overwatch. or plenty of other games that didn't lock abilities behind grinding.
if the game is fun and good, you don't need to hind abilities behind grinding.

I hope that's sarcasm
as someone that plays more killer then survivor I wish it was.

Just realize you will lose a lot, because this game is designed to make you lose a lot. (it is a feature, not a bug) Some killers do well, but players many have Hundreds if not thousands of hours in this game. realize you will lose against someone with Thousands of hour in one game. how anyone can focus on 1 game that much is beyond me, but anyone that spends that much time in a game, is going to be good.
if you specific killers like leatherface, your aoe attacks will keep them from trying to bodyblock you as you can just take a lot of them out. realize you are going to still lose to Gen rushers, because for some reason, a game that is over in a bout 5 minutes without any interaction is really fun to a lot of survivors.
The doctor has a lot of aoe attacks and can really mess with people at those ranks especially. Just farm points. (also leatherface will get you barbecue and chilli, which i honestly love for the bloodpoints that come with it, but play a character that can get you points. Freddy is good, but you still need to level up, and get some perks.

Sorry but reading a lot of these recent posts. Are killers not suppose to be in control of matches. Are they suppose to be weak and unplayable. Is the element of balance ever going to cross the survivor main and devs minds. This is just a response to most recent posts saying killers are overpowered. Etc. Instead of putting posts up about your specific side can we please look at balance.
There are 4 survivors per match and 1 killer. It is ok to dunk on killer, because 4/5th of the players are still having fun.
-
I am anywhere from Rank 11 to rank 13 killer. the matchmaking basically doesn't exsist already as I'll face an all red squad or any random mix. even all level 18 to 20's.
It is already the worst matchmaking system I've seen in an online game. It basically doesn't exsist, so every game should give you the data you are after.
-
Hex perks are cool in theory, and they either are hidden well and have an impact, or found in the first 30 seconds are add no value. I wish they somehow took a bit longer to disable/stop from working.

Thread make me chuckle. killers are the victims in this game

I’m curious to know how people feel when they get no kills in their matches? Do you rage? Do you blame yourself for it? Do you blame the survivors for being too good? Do you look back and see what you could of have done differently? Do you put on an ebony mori for your next match? Do you play a stronger killer next match? Personally when it happens I replay the same killer and think what I did wrong in the last match to help myself learn. What about you?
Not great. Some SWF groups will do everything in their power to make sure all 4 get away. When I get 0-4, the next few games any form of mercy is gone from me. These bully squads will often be as toxic as they can and taunt any means they can.
The exception is, when I log into a game to do some lame Daily quest with a killer I don't care about, I just focus on that daily, and don't give any cares how the game goes.
-
Good tips on the locker play!
-
Having a hook that cannot be sabotage is great. As a Killer I ran into a full on bully squad, and the only reason They didn't fully bully me to the end was I managed to move the fight near an event hook. That event hook is my favorite thing of 2020
I fully believe the game would be better if there was at least 1 hook in all games above ground that could never be broken.
-
It is an interesting enough game, but still a little bit different of the crowd. When Friday the 13th came out, I played that game a LOT and still prefer the format better then DBD, but the devs did not support that game at all (much worse then this game), an the open mic/ hacking/cheating was too much. Not to mention the Open mic in that game you had to auto mute every person every game to avoid all the racism/hate nonesense
there is sadly no real good competition to Dead by daylight, which is why they don't have to try that hard to success. This style of game is fun, and a horror theme game like this is addicting to many of us, but it is all we have.
-
It is kind of funny how a vast majority of threads complain about survivors being too good, and we get brave people time for time, saying the opposite although almost nothing supports it.
I will say, when I solo quque and hit 2 games in a row, where the killers are on mori streaks and 2 of my teammates are dead early, that game will be loss, but this happens 1 out of 15 days or so. the other 14 days as survivor it is open season on killers (as this game was designed)
-
As a killer just realize, those survivors are late to an appointment, and they don't want to actually do anything but minimal to get the gens donw and leave. They won't be getting many points either TBH. Its quick, its fast, and its unsatisfying. Basically like an evening with me :(
I just fought and killed all 4 players in a bully squad just before I saw this post. it was exhausting, and took forever and every second was frustrating. I'm not even sure if it was better (even though I won and ended up with a ton of blood poinra) then a quick nothing happens games against gen rushers. Bully squads or Gen rushers are your two choices now.
if you don't like those two choices, you really shouldn't play killer. I'm not saying either is good, but that are you only options for probably a long time if history has anything to say about it.

Every once in awhile I break out basement Bubba just to see how it goes, and every time I’ve done it (granted it’s only been like four times, so small sample size) the survivors always do some bizarre rescue plan that ends in a 4K.
No one ever just pumps out gens, it’s always trading up. I start with one, someone goes for the save and fails, and then the others try to save the two. And these are red rank survivors mind you, no clue what the deal is with that.
it works against pugs. When I play SWF, we let the person die, and just gen rush because of the stupid camp strat. Rando's don't realize and fall for it
-
DS helps against tunneling (which is lame) but I don't think it should trigger if pulled out of a locker. Otherwise it seems a valid choice

Sorry but everyone is wrong. Don't bother submitting a ticket. They didn't hold the game hostage. They were looking for hatch. It's pretty common for survivors to stop working on gens when the hatch has spawned. Take this as a learning experience. Learn the hatch mechanics. If this happens again, go find the hatch. I bet you find someone crouched around or in a locker. Or run whispers like me and never have this problem. Stealth meta is pretty strong right now so whispers is on all my killers.
lol
-
This is one of the worst parts of the game. I have so many examples of same problems.
I can't think of game that does online matchmaking worse then DBD.

Freddy can be easily genrushed.
Anyone can basically be genrushed in current game state. Its the #1 most boring way to get a match over with. also a boring way to get the minimal amount of blood points in a match. If it happens, it happens

This really is the perfect storm of an entitled community vs a company trying to enhance profits. Both sides have issues. The company did make some adjustments, which many seem are fair, (and maybe it is) but some "fans" will never late the hate and anger die down, because of reasons. Maybe they take out all their stress in life on the devs of this game. who knows.
-
I think Survivor sided is fairly obvious and It is just something you need to live with. You don't like it. Find another game.
-
Honestly I see more survivors dictate how a killer should play, but really, both sides should just relax. I'm happy as a survivor to at least contribute and try to succeed and as a killer, have some fun chases (if players want to rush gens and escape, I don't bother, as i'm not going to stress anymore on it)
but really, just chill out, play the game. We all get perks and abilities, just play and see what happens. You can't stand if the opposite side is using specific abilities? that is a "you" problem and learn to identify that and course correct.

The fact that Freddy has a relatively low pick rate but a SIGNIFICANTLY higher kill rate should be a major red flag to BHVR that he is too strong.
IDC what you want to say about Nurse or Spirit, but Freddy is objectively one of if not the strongest killers in the game and there are multiple reasons for it.
I must preface this with...
- I was an old Freddy main at rank 1. I played him without Ruin or NOED and was still quite effective with him. However I would acknowledge that he was, at the time, the weakest killer in the game.
- I play new Freddy regularly at rank 1 and I find him to be hands down the most oppressive killer to play. Consistently. Like I win games regularly with 3 or more gens left, AND I rarely have to camp or tunnel.
So why is Freddy so strong?
First is his teleport. He has the best map pressure in the game because he can instantly go to the gen you are working on. No other killer can do this, save for Demo and Hag but they have to set up first which greatly reduces their pressure. Every single gen slowing or gen tracking perk is borderline God tier on Freddy. BBQ, DIscordance, Surveillance, Tinkerer, Thana, Ruin, Pop (especially Pop). Yes these are good perks for many killers, but on Freddy they become exponentially more powerful.
Second is his snares. He has an anti-chase that is very similar to Clown. Say what you want about Clown, but a good Clown will catch you CRAZY fast. Freddy is just a slightly weaker Clown in this aspect, as he can't plant a puddle in front of you during a chase. It is damn near impossible to run a good Freddy for very long around most loops just as it can be a good Clown. This is a minor issue however.
Third is Dream World, or rather the fact it automatically gets Oblivious. This means that he gets a free BT counter, or any perk requiring a terror radius. Sure this hurts him too, but the perks he can't use aren't that great anyway (Unnerving, Insidious??? LOL). Infectious is probably the only TR perk that is good, but guess what? IT STILL WORKS FOR HIM! Yep try it, Infectious will make dreaming survivors scream. Oblivious doesn't stop that for some reason but it negates a lot of good survivor perks.
Fourth is stealth. He has built in semi-stealth due to him being INVISIBLE to awake survivors outside his TR and even sometimes in his TR. This means he can get really close to you while awake without you having a reasonable way to react. He is basically a Wraith.
Finally, he is the ONLY killer in the game with add-ons that affect gen speeds. This is the big one. He has 3 add-ons that do this, and while they were nerfed that is not good enough. They shouldn't exist, period. Don't get me wrong, at first I loved them because my main tactic with old Freddy was to use range add-ons and tracking perks like Surveillance and Nurse's to permanently keep survivors asleep for that sweet 50% action penalty. It was a strong tactic, however since I had to put them to sleep myself it was fair since I had to be active to get that reward. But now you just fall asleep in 60 seconds OR when he hits you. You are going to be asleep more than 50% of the game easily, and usually without any action on the killer's part. Basically he just gets this stuff for free by equipping an add-on.
Let's summarize... Freddy is basically a combination of Hag, Wraith, and Clown with built in BT counter and passive slow down that no other killer has access too.
My entire point here is that Freddy just has WAY WAY too much in his base kit, and that is why he has such a significantly higher kill rate compared to other killers. You can say "don't draw conclusions from data alone" remember that I told you I play new Freddy at rank 1 and my experience is that he is oppressive. Furthermore, as survivor, a good Freddy with a strong slow down build is one of the most difficult killers to beat. Literally your only chance against a killer like this is to run in a 4 man SWF, which anyone who plays this game could tell you is already broken, but I digress.
So what is the solution? How do we fix this? I'm not just making this post to complain, I'm making it to offer a suggestion. Now I have been writing down my ideas for changes to Dead By Daylight I would like to see that I believe would improve the game. It's a lot, I will just copy and paste what I wrote for Freddy. Let's take a look...
NIGHTMARE
- Survivors no longer passively fall asleep at the start of the game and do not see the sleep clock until they are hit and put into the Dream State at least once.
- Dream Snare radius reduced by 20%.
- Oblivious removed from Dream World.
- Nightmare can be always seen by awake survivors within 32m.
- Remove stacking penalty on Snap Clap wake up action.
- Cat Block, Z Block, Pill Bottle, Paint Thinner, Outdoor Rope, Jump Rope, and Swing Chains reworked.
- Cat Block inflicts Haemorrhage on sleeping survivors. Healthy survivors that are asleep will bleed.
- Z Block inflicts Mangled on injured survivors that are asleep and blocks the aura of their dream clock outside of 32m.
- Pill Bottle makes the Nightmare; disappear intermittently to awake survivors; invisible to sleeping survivors outside of 32m.
- Paint Thinner reveals the survivor's aura for 4 seconds upon falling asleep.
- Outdoor Rope greatly increases interaction time for each successive Snap Clap.
- Jump Rope causes the survivor's dream clock to move to a new location every 30 seconds.
- Swing Chains causes Dream World to inflict the Oblivious status effect.
- Garden Rake and Prototype Claws Dream Tokens reduced to 8.
- Prototype Claws aura reading removed. Prototype Claws inflict Hindered for 10 seconds on survivors that interact with Dream Pallets.
- Kid's Drawing adds 5 Dream Tokens.
So let's unpack this.
The first line is actually a slight nerf and buff to Freddy, as one of his only drawbacks is that you KNOW it's a Freddy right when the game starts. This would give some leeway at the start of the game for survivors, and also give Freddy more element of surprise opportunities. Though of course once he hits someone they would see, but the point is he would have a bit more spook at the start. Once you hit them the clock appears and it functions as normal.
Making Dream Snares smaller means it would take better planning in their use. I feel like I can just spam them without care and they do more than what I need them to do. At least require me to use to skill here.
Next. we basically take away all the "fluff" from Freddy's base kit. The goal is to shift most of them to his add-ons. Pill Bottle is a bad add-on IMO, it does nothing for him. This new version would do something for him. Notice how for most of these things while I offer to take away something from his base kit and move it to an add-on, I'm actually buffing it in the process because it now requires an add-on and therefore can be a tad better.
This all opens up new builds for Freddy. I enjoy add-ons that change how a killer functions over straight up making something they do faster or stronger. It leads to more interesting emergent gameplay.
The dream pallet add-ons I feel are redundant. You don't need 3 of them, hell 1 is enough. So let's take Paint Thinner and do something else with it, what I suggest is reminiscent of old Freddy and I would enjoy this as both killer and survivor. I only kept 2 dream pallet add-ons because I honestly couldn't think of another thing for Claws to do.
All the slow down add-ons are gone and in it's place are add-ons that are still really good but not stupid to play against. Giving Oblivious in Dream World as an add-on is acceptable. Base kit it is not.
Finally we make his lame BP add-on a bit better. This is just to offset the fact his snares just got worse.
These are just my suggestions, obviously they won't be implemented but something like this would be a good change for Freddy. If you guys have suggestions you are free to put them here.
Be aware I'm not looking to argue with anyone about whether Freddy is too strong or not. He very much is and the chart above confirms it. We need to discuss ways to fix this.
Be careful of these stats? Did they post all the things that go into them? No one would call pig the #2 killer. These generic numbers really don't help provide good details.
is Freddy Good? Sure, but one chart doesn't paint the whole picture.
What are your expecations when you go in a match? I feel like some/many survivors get upset if not 100% of players get away, so I don't know if your mad you lost a player or two vs a Freddy player once or twice, and now want him nerfed, or if your SWF groups get stomped on constantly by Freddy.

There were actual objective reasons to state, instead you choosed one that was subjective.
I've said that because if you care about what people say to you online, that frankly you will never see again, then you are doing something wrong.
My response was in no way targetting anyone you had said in this topic. I was responding to OP and saying simply that I hate hearing all the racial/hate slurs in online games. I mute them an move on. "caring about what they say" and having to listen to awful things are two different things. I prefer an environment, where I can simply ignore the comments. I don't care when a game is over, and survivors yell at killer, or killer yells at survivor, but I still don't want to see/hear certain hate speech that comes with online communcation in internet games. If you can't understand that, then that is on you.

Open it yourself then. That's all you have to do. 99ing the gate makes the game much more interesting. A gate shouldn't regress. If you're so worried about it then just open it or stand in front of it. This isnt an issue at all.
I just am bummed that 2 of the killer perks, which seem neat (block gates, etc) aren't even useable because of the 99% the gates. It is an issue (not a huge one) and some have commented as well some type of change would be nice. I wouldn't call this a top 5 concern, but this mechanic could be improved.

You should reconsider your life choices...
my life choices of playing this game with friends in discord? or playing in solo queue. I don't understand what life choices here an issue. Your response makes zero sense. YOu could have typed "234lafgj q23p5;asdfg;sdj" and that would have made as much sense.
I"m not being snarky. I literally don't understand what you mean. My response above wasn't even snarky or the usually somewhat trollish type post.
-
In the last month. I have seen 1 PC player disconnect. Over 100 console players disconnect.
please leave penatly on is something I strongly believe, but if an update makes the game unstable (and the devs should easily be able to see a report of DC spike) - Then it needs to be turned off if it is a system issue. as much as I hate palyers DC (and I really do, as people wasting my time is something I'll never enjoy) We can't punish people if the company can't put out a stable patch.
-
Chat would be terrible. Too much racism/trolling in online games with open mic chat opens. I wish we could assume people would be civil, but I think years of gaming online with games with open mics shows this is not true
Plus i don't want to have to disable every person every game, or repot all the 14 year olds using their newest racial slur they heard to know devs won't ever do anything about it.
play with Friends in discord. It is what most of us do. Solo queue is another beast of peaceful quite time

bold move cotton

communication is KEY in this game. Unless I am misreading what you are saying, you don't seem to seem to think it is a big deal? That is the most wrong take I've seen on these forums. (which is a big list of crazy things said here) So I feel like I am not reading what you said correctly>
SWF with communcation is the greatest advantage a group has. talking in discord giving out info is better then all perks in the game by FAR. Sure Skill does matter. You have 4 newbies playing their first game against a killer that has played before, and they can talk all they want, they are going to die, but you get people with any experience vs each other, and the killer will lose lot more because of communcation then anything else.

As I stated before, this is simply untrue information.
You can be a reliable teammate with great coordination without comms. This has been proven time after time. Communication does not give you the skill needed to successfully win a match. You can have all the information in the world but if you can't loop a killer, are not good with timing (saving, when not to pick up a dying state survivor, recognize the killer is camping so therefore make yourself useful etc.) You will most likely fail if not cost your team time which they do not have.
This isn't as black and white as many claim it is, is what I am saying.
For too long solo queue survivors have been used as "They are just not as good because of comms" excuse in order to excuse these uneeded "buffs" for killers.
-
Until the show Groups Vs Solo queue, I don't care about these numbers. I'd also like to see the difference above and below Rank 10 TBH.
These numbers without more details don't help any side of the argument.

Give killers a Bonus of some sort vs groups, but let them choose.

-
Being forced to run these perks is pretty annoying as well.
@DaKnight said:
No corrupt, no discordance on a low mobility killer. You should expect ridiculously fast games not running either of those perks.
-
The killer should get a subtle buff when facing a group. Communication is better then any perk in the game.
-
A SWF Bully squad. That is as rare as a day that ends in Y.
Something about just sticking it the killer and making the game as long as possible makes them so happy. They were probably mad at the end when you killed one of them
-
I have seen a lot less disconnects, and don't see too many quit/die on first hook. The game is better with the DC penalty on.
-
Looping is not wrong, camping is not wrong. Do what you have to do in the role you are playing.
-
Hex are such a neat idea and the idea they can be cancelled helps make them be a bit more powerful, but this is such a classic example of why the current system of putting out totems is soo poor. At the very least, there should be 1 or 2 more totems on the map, and each hex should take 2 removals to get rid of. (so it has a chance to last more then 30 seconds)
-
This game rarely crashes. If crashing was a common problem, then the DC penalty shouldn't exsist. Quiters are the bane of games like this, and things need to be put in place to help limit. Sadly, many of these quiters will still auto kill themselves on the first hook, but at least they have to be caught and hooked
before the penalty, I'd see too many people DC even if the killer was near them in the first 2 minutes. why they play a game like this I will never understand.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Why do you care about the first Gen? The only Gen that really matters is the last Gen. Especially since you dont get punished that much anymore for the first Gens being done fast.
Also, as @JPLongstreet has said, Corrupt Intervention is an excellent Perk.
I "win" many games, where players have done 1 to 5 gens. I'm simply saying. the fact the survivors can complete a gen at start of a game based on their position/killer position, where the killer has 0% chance to stop it is not a well balanced mechanic of the game.
It would require using a perk spot to stop the farthest gens. then that perk slot has no effect the rest of the game.
-
self care should have a limited number of uses based on its level. You are welcome
-
Survivors hate everything. You have chosen a killer that can sometimes hit them, and that is very rude and wrong of you. Just let them 4 =0 you while your in a corner
-
I am so glad when someone leaves they tell us. How would we continue with our day if we weren't notified when someone stops playing.
-
You can't ask for less Moris without getting less keys. This topic said Moris are too common. the topics are linked in many ways. They both end an already quick game even faster and always is unfun to play against either. I do like all the kill animations though, and I like the green/yellow ones a bit more. I have yet to feel the need to use a purple one personally.
-
too many keys
-
This has happened to me and I have sent in complaints. You just have to accept this game has one of the worst matchmaking system of an online game. They say it will get better, but I've been told, they have been saying that for 4 years
-
I believe both console players and PC players are good. After a little over 100 hours of play in the first month of this game all I see are consoole players disconnected all the time.
people say "not to generalize Console players" but when in games and someone drops, which is 1 out 2 games, it is 90% console players, it is hard NOT to generalize. Console players simply quit the game a LOT more then PC players. That is somethign I see. Something my friends that have joined the game have seen. Something I see commented a lot on forums. Yet this seems to be a "Mean" statement or somehow untrue because people don't like to hear it, and they don't want drama between console/PC players
I get beat by consoloe players and can't catch some console players. They are however faster to quit then anyone else. It happened so much I had to look up is there was some exploit or something that gave them blodopoints for quitting as its so damm common.
