  • I have 2 friends that just DC when they see the twins now, so they can't be slugged. My other friends will wait to the slugging starts before they DC.

Either way, its pretty much near the final straw for our group. We still play, as we can't figure out the next game to jump to yet, but We keep checking the steam sale for something to appease us.

  • The problem is. I play with friends 90% of the time. If SWF was no longer allowed, we would all move on to another game.

I do feel there is too much power there and killers need some generic buff against SWF, and I feel like Non SWF should get the kindred perk as a default effect to balance how bad that scale is.

Killers should also know when they are facing SWF .

  • If killer slugs multiple people I'll leave every time.

  • That happens to me on the swamp. At least 2 different Gens spawn in the swamp that look like 3 people can work on them, but only 1 person can. The map has some issues.

it is sad if these issues have been around as long as the previous poster called out.

  • DS main purpose is to help deal with tunneling. This is a good thing, as we need counters to tunneling tools. however, at end game collapse, the players are now about to escape. DS is a major hinderance and often keeps a killer from managing even a single kill.

  • The game is survivor sided. Freddy is the best killer and against a NON SWF, Freddy will do better then others. This does not mean the game is not survivor sided. It only means Freddy is good and even a player controlling a "worse" killer can still have amazing games against non SWF groups and some killers will simply have thousands of more hours of play then you, and that can help make up the gap

  • honestly the matchmaking is so bad killers will face really any level survivors anyway.

  • The grind is meant to keep us playing.

However many online games don't require grinds as they trust their game is fun enough to keep people around. This game should trust the players and reduce the grind by about 75% - Perks need only 1 tier. sharepable perks should start much sooner (level 20,25,30) There is no need to force the hundreds of hours of play just to unlock a ton of perks for some variety.

i'm nearing 500 hours. I have 80% of survivovrs to level 40. I have 1 survivor with all the shareable perks. that is absurd it took this long. (some of that time was unlocking killer perks as well such as BBQ, which is a Huge help in BP grinding.

Stop crying and play the game.

or leave the game it is not fun. I play this game because 95% of the time I play with friends. when the group as a whole is sick of the game we will move on. THis game is flawed. It can be unfun to play alone or as the killer.

leaving is a smart move if you are not having fun.

People hate Gunslinger? I thought he's fine. He's also pretty fun to verse. He can easily stomp but he's not boring or annoying to fight against like some killers like Freddy or Doc.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1832406#Comment_1832406

That's like saying Hag is just an M1 killer with some mobility shenanigans.

I don't understand the gunslinger hate either. he is a mid tier killer that can be countered, but a lot of people really really hate him.

Also, I have noticed the trend bad killers have. They start farming when they play bad and get destroyed.

Basically proving that you are too bad to play the game the intended way.

Not everyone takes this game seriously or like some new upcoming esport that will get them on some sort of team. Sometimes people just playing/chilling. This seems to offend you. Maybe take it down a notch. This is a goofy game. Enjoy it, no need for the ego trip.

  • This game grind is absurd. Some people don't want to play killer, but get all killer quests no matter how often they delete their one a day and get a new one.

This people will farm, its quick, its easy. Of all the problems in the game, this is just a symptom of an extreme grind that should not exsist. If the developers trusted their players to play a game that was fun and stay around, there would be no need of a grind, and thus no need of farming games.

many of us won't play this game for thousands of hours, and simply want to unlock a decent vareity of perks for multiple builds (some serious builds, some meme builds, some just goofy builds) but you need to grind hundreds of hours for this, thus farming.

be annoyed at the company for making a grind then players that want to farm

  • I play survivor more then killer as of late, and I absolutely Love scratched mirror builds. Myers is the only stealth killer I love to face as he just freaks me out the most. Pig is just random and ghost face players seem to on average have a chip on their shoulder, but myers players 9 times out of 10 are fun as hell and great at scaring the ######### out of me in the most fun way possible.

The coolmikeshow is a great twitch channel and that guy runs that build all the time and just has so much fun with it. When he plays against streamers he goes out of his way to get good jump scare moments to add to his "scare of the week" clips he saves.

everything about Myers is what I love about this game (maybe tombstone is a bit much, but I still find it amusing)

  • The survivor queues change dramatically based on the time of day you are on as well. For me in the states, during the day, the survivor queues are faster (assuming less SWF) at night more friends play as groups, which takes away from the player base of killers, and I know some killers don't want to play killer when there is a higher percentage of SWF

  • Many killers need perks to deal with Gens or the game is over too fast, so I won't say picking the combo that works for a specific player is wrong,

But Ruin/Undying can be countered by smart survivors staying on Gen, or unlocky totem placement. I've played games where we destroyed a killer with this combo, but there are games, where the totems are hidden well and killer is able to put jsut enough pressure to get great value out of those two perks) - I find this combo to be a coin toss

I prefer / love the new oppression perk from Twins, Then something like Pop goes the weasel, and or Tinker/corrupt Intervention I found more reliable and cannot be countered as easily.

sidenote - I wish this game had an alternate game mode where the game would last X amount of minutes and it was all about being chased/hiding from the killer. something that might new need specific maps, but a mode where its all about just the chase and hiding. (blood points would be given out at based on how people did and need a slight rework in distribution since there would be no boring gens) This way everyone can take perks all about the chase. I suggest this as I'd rather just chase a group of people for a while then worry about gens, but this game forces killers to waste so many slots on gen perks and skip the fun chase perks unless they don't mind 5 minute games.

  • There are so many valid reasons a killer my avoid a survivor A good killer will be wary of specific perks, It may be mid to late game, and the killer simply won't grab that one survivor that has 0 hooks to save them for last and focus on the others.

There are a lot of good reasons to be annoyed at a killer. Sweaty tryhards that think this is an esport will make any game less fun, but basic game knowledge and trying not to trigger specific events is fairly standard.

  • The trapper really does not like those maps. Traps are basically beacons on those maps.

I wish trapper was better. He needs to carry more traps by default. (altough many of my friends hate anything like % chance to escape) as it can be very frustrating, so even when winning vs a trapper, they get mad at annoying game mechanics.

but back on point. OP is 100% correct that those maps are not a friend of the trapper (other then the basic traps other side of ledges, etc)

  • When you look at the "why is X killer so good" Other then the overhate of Gunslinger, Freddy is probably the most commonly complained about killer.

I play him when I need to farm BP as killer because it is absurdly easy to play him and do well. Sometimes I want to watch TV/read a book/ while playing and still want to do good, and Freddy is a good killer for that scenario.

  • Moris are in a good place now. They are an alternate to final hook and can get around stuff like Dstrike.

They were too good and now they are fairly basic. This is great.

  • OP says - I have more then 3,000 in this game, then says game is easy, while probably often facing people with a couple hundred hours in majority of games. Even if most of it was survivor, you learn so much every hundred hours in this game, much of that translates to understanding how the killers work.

Of course you are going to win. You play an extreme amount of 1 game. you are going to be better the most. Good job!

I would love to see the breakdown % of players that play in brackets of time. The percentage of players has to dramatically shrink somewhere after a few hundred hours. Some of these people that just don't play other games, play thousands hour of this game and then make comments about how it is easy will always be a little amusing.

  • When you report someone, they will response with "sorry, not enough information to do anything" or they will say "please use this other form to report that action" then go back to "sorry, not enough info"

On deadbydaylight main page, there is a HELP section on top. Feel free to report the person, but just know NOTHING will happen. I have reported Racism, hate speech, anti LGTBQ stuff, and they do not care at all. Game being held hostage by an asshat? so what, Not enough Info to do anything about it?

  • the Pig isn't that great.

  • Then you finish game, realize they all get 25,000 blood points to your 8,000.. friggin games

Devour hope is a cool killer Hex

Way to many people play this game like its some esport that is going to make them famouse and join some cool team and travel the world playing in tournaments. I'll never understand how ######### sweaty/tryhard people get.

  • The current perk Grind system is too much. It takes hundreds of hours to just unlock an interesting variety of perks. Many of us won't play this game 500+ hours and putting such a grind wall in front of all the perks is foolish

if the game is fun, we will play. You don't need this level of grind.

In addition, perks should only have 1 Tier. This only would reduce the grind by a Lot and help balance the game. perks should be shareable much sooner as well. Level 20 should unlock shareable perks at the latest.

  • @TheClownIsKing said:

You can all complain about slugging all you want, but the truth of the matter is the way this game is designed means at red ranks (even purple ranks) a killer has 3 choices when it comes to approaching load out and match strategy.

    1) Slow repairs down as much as possible in a literal, direct way.

    2) Find as many ways as possible to keep survivors that are out of a chase either indisposed or as preoccupied as possible with other tasks.

    3) Find ways to save as much time as possible. Usually shortened chase times, and shortened times between ending one chase and finding a new survivor.

None of the above are exclusive of each other. A killer can be doing a combination of any of the above, or specialise in one approach only. Slugging falls in the middle of 1 & 2. It’s a pretty much mandatory approach when a killer has too few tools to do the direct gen slow down/direct gen pressure strategy, or simply chooses not to do an obnoxious “forever repair” approach.

You can complain how “boring” or “toxic” slugging is all you like. You know what’s “boring” for killers? 4 gens popping in the space of only 2 short chases and 2 hooks. I’m not blaming the survivors directly. The game allows you to do this. It allows you to do obnoxious, infuriating stuff like tap a regressing gen mid chase. It takes 15ish seconds to carry someone to a hook, and an unhook is done in an instant. 15 seconds is actually a lot of time in DBD to NOT be looking for another survivor to chase.

So sorry, but with the way the game allows survivors to play this game, Killers have to either slow down gens, waste your time, or slug a lot.

    Pick your poison.

    haha

While I 100% agree the game is survivor favor, thinking you have to slug to win is justifying your need to play toxic. but hey, if rank matters to you, that is a problem we can't solve.

    • Almost all of his add-ons are complete and utter dogshit, either doing nothing appreciable or being actively detrimental.
    • No, "Forever Freddy" is not OP. Even with the rest of his add-ons being as awful as they are, it's only second place (double teleport CD is better). It's a TWELVE PERCENT SLOW at its maximum potential, is usually gonna be a whole lot WORSE than that due to people being awake, and it does NOTHING in the early game, when a killer can lose three gens for one chase even IF they end it in 30 seconds.
    • So what if he counters BT? One favorable interaction with survivor perks does not a strong killer make. Hell, the interaction isn't even entirely favorable; if somebody does manage to trigger it, smacking the unhooked survivor doesn't put them to sleep. Why? Because it was a solution they added back when BT's timer progressed outside the terror radius, and they just forgot to revert it when they fixed the underlying problem. Also, there are a ton of other perk interactions that balance out BT by interacting terrible with Freddy. The most obvious one is Object of Obsession, but there's also a ton of killer perks that Freddy can't use (infectious being the main one, but also any kind of stealth perk).
    • At the start of the game, when killers are most vulnerable to losing gens with no recourse, Freddy literally has no power. Snares do nothing since nobody's awake, Projection is on CD, and you have completely normal stats (no, survivors misjudging your lunge due to your height is not a power),
    • "OH MY GOD HE CAN CROSS THE MAP INSTANTLY THAT'S SO OP"... is what I would say if I was an idiot. Freddy can only teleport once every 45 seconds (a bit more frequently due to sleep reducing the CD, but it's still lengthy). It starts off on CD, so it's worthless at the beginning of the game (when you most need to cross the map) and can only target incomplete generators, meaning that not only is it not useful in chase 95% of the time, but it gets less and less useful as gens get done, until the end game where it's literally unusable.
    • Snares are REALLY EASY to use, but they aren't that good. People like to call him a better Clown, and you're not entirely wrong there since the unlimited ammo is very good if you've been playing the same tile for a while already, but honestly there are a LOT of situations where Clown is outright stronger than Freddy, because Bottles can be used actively to catch up with a survivor the first time at a loop or in the open, where Snares are completely useless in those situations, since you need to spam them so much that you can't exactly have a bunch of them in 300 IQ spots to catch people in transit. Also, again, they're completely useless until survivors fall asleep, meaning they're completely useless for the first stages of the game.

I ain't saying he doesn't need changes; he's way too easy and boring as hell even when you're winning.

That said, changes shouldn't be aimed at making Freddy weaker; they should be aimed at raising his skill ceiling and removing the ability to play Freddy while simultaneously doing your taxes, wrapping Christmas presents, and making a quiche.

Hilarious. Freddy is the only killer I can watch TV while reading a book, while having game minimized and still easily get a 4k without.

I agree we shouldn't nerf him either, because I only play killers later for the stupid farm of blood points, but my god, he is easily the best killer by a mile. He is the definition of easy mode.

  • OP is correct. However some people like to win or not get stomped on so they gotta do what they gotta do.

Imagine caring about ranks though. After hundreds of hours in this game and repeating red ranks, I can't fathom caring that much as it doesn't matter AT all. Some people just use the best "meta" perk game to game to game. What boring existence, but if they need to validate their time online in a video game, that is between them and their therapist.

  • The idea of the twins is very cool and I am happy they are trying something different. It does need some tweaks, as the only valid strat I have seen is slugging, and that is not fun for anyone invovled.

  • Every Night I change up perks. I spent 400 hours unlocking as many perks as I could (Stupid grind) and now play with different mix of perks all the time. Sometimes I run perks that aren't that great, but are somewhat fun anyway. I would get bored with the same 4 perks all the time. This game is meant to be fun, not too serious, and more people need to realize that.

  • A nice simple good change. You can still see the fun kill animation, without ruining the entire game

  • A great change. Moris were not fun. I played a lot of killer/survivor and they were too powerful.

  • I've come across this type of bubba about once every 400 hours. I have been lucky to always be in a SWF, so we lose 1 teammate, finish gens and 3 of us escape.

I can't imagine being bored of a killer to try to do this but it must work against random teams. Just seems really sad and pathetic though, but people spend time doing all sort of weird things

  • @goatslinger said:

So are you trying to say behavior sympathizes with racists and homophobes? Or are you just upset because you don't have the self satisfaction of seeing your report cause someone to face consequences? Or are you upset because you truly feel that if this person was banned that they would self reflect on their life decisions and all the sudden not be a racist pos? I'm trying to understand the point of giving idiot trolls the attention they are after.

I am upset the company doesn't seem to take action against people like that. The person may not change, but their needs to be consequences for their actions.

“I’m 460 hours into this game and I may just quit over this”

That is your take away. Not that the company doesn't care to do anything about it. That is the point. I was unaware of their stance and there other ways to spend our time.

  • So you are ok people can be racist/homophonic in game and they company does not care? That is the brave stance you are taking! good to know

  • Also I have never reported a person like this before. Luckily I don't see this type of person often.. I assume this company has chat logs and due to time of day I submitted the ticket, they could put 2+2 together with 5 minutes of effort.

i have never, and i mean never asked or wanted a killer nerf before not even spirit or nurse but seriously i will not play verse this killer. victor has very little counter against actual good players and when you do get rid of him hes back within 5 seconds. I am not holding victor on my back for 45seconds doing nothing, that is boring AF and my team hardly ever do gens and still go down against basic killers. IM A SOLO SURVIVOR, i am not playing a unfun and unfair match where a killer can camp but also have another killer move at 150% speed hitting and downing players all over the map slugging. Either make the cooldown of victor longer or make him uncontrollable when he downs someone. Id take the most buffed up nurse and spirit over this crap, at least im not punished as much and the killer cant camp and chase all at once with 0 negative even when outplayed or killed. NO THANKYOU

There is always one. Everyone else is calling this killer mega weak. No one is having a problem against them. The twins are a joke right now

  • Every single day forever people post this and every day the get told "Just deal with it"

This company makes the worst matchmaking system ever created by an online game.

I feel your pain OP. I went through that a lot. This company doesn't care though, this won't change. People keep throwing money at them for broken bad buggy DLC and buy cute outfits.

if you keep playing, just accept matchmaking is trash, and try not to get stressed out about it.

  • The quantity of bugs in this release is absurd. The Fact this company can release sub par crap and basically have people continue to throw money at them is a shame.

there is no competition for this style game. They know this and it allows them to do whatever they want.

  • @horrortale_sans said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1785348#Comment_1785348

i mean it not easy to run a big game like this people need to give the devs a brake

A patch coming out this bad is very pathetic. Many games bigger and smaller don't make this big of a mess everytime they do anything.

  • I agree that Undying/Ruin can be 100% useless and you canpower through it, but then there are the games, the killer plays good zone defense, and those totems are hidden 1000 feet below ground and you get ground to dust and it leaves a bad taste in your soul for the rest of the night.

These extreme perks/tactics aren't great for the game and are also very boring and it says something when they are still some of the best combos to use at times.

  • Just pick some perks you want to play, have some fun, work on challenges if you want. Try to do well, but just don't take it too serious and you can have lots of fun. The killer super sweaty? good for him. their last game was probably really bad, so they are probably just unwinding. Don't worry about it.

    just ignore the nonesense

  • To the people that say ranks don't matter. I hover between red/purple ranks and play with friends in all rank ranges. We can always tell when it is a red rankjkiller in the game. Maybe 1 in 20 games we call the killer being red rank and they aren't. People with a lot more time will simply be better. Even fi they aren't "The best", red rank players often just have more play time, so play smoother, or try harder because they are red ranks and gotta be "serious business' or whaterver.

    It is very noticeable.

  • Borrowed time is critical against camping killers. It does not need a cooldown. This perk along with DS exsist to deal with killers using very frustrating strategy's that take advantage of this imbalance of this game.

  • Some of the response has been "I will play how I want" and that is 100% fair. I think part of the OP point is, when playing as a surivor and either 1 DC early and its all solo q. the players often don't try as hard, or are just working quests/challenges/whatever. You can sort of tell this fairly early and you can very easily tell when the killer is all business.

I think the idea is, these sweaty killers are probably all proud of themsevles when they clear a 4 person solo queue or play super aggressive against a game with DC that they sort of put out of attitude of "look at how good I am" when the remaining survivors know the game is already over and just getting a few blood points before the next game.

It is like when a killer brings a Mori, I know many people that will 100% suicide on first hook to move on and to also deny the killer both the mori and blood points, because FU moris (also FU keys, but thats another topic)

Basically within minutes it is easy to tell if the players are part of a SWF or if the killer is super serious and many players adjust play and just give 100% less ######### then the other team

1 2 3 4 … 7
