Wait, are off-topic and discussions in the same link? I clicked on this from the menu, where I always go to discussions, to the point that I don't notice text. The forums really need to make links more clear.

For sure, but here's a tip: you can see the category that the post was made in underneath the title of the post, in smaller text

  • I put my butter in a butter dish, but what do you do if you have more butter than fits in your butter dish?

Yet another embarrass the devs thread.

I would say that it's more like an inspire the devs thread. Taking the original idea behind a bad add-on and providing more ideas to make it work better isn't exactly shaming, in my opinion.

    A) I'm allowed to have my own opinion you have no control over the forums.

    B) I type anything how I want it's a free world and I can say whatever I want I'm not here offending anyone that's my personal opinion and you can just disagree or agree you don't have control over the threads.

    C) why make a thread if you can't handle other people's opinions just saying I have the right to speak out if I want to about this. you Killers have more leverage over the survivors in every way don't know why you guys are complaining about the exit gate.

    D) is that better that I put periods now?

Good lord, that was a strong reaction. First of all, yes, I'm glad you decided to use punctuation, because now I can read what you're saying without having a stroke. Making it easier for people to understand you is always a good thing. To the topic at hand: I'm aware that I don't have control over the forums, but hijacking a thread that's getting lots of attention to inject your own, relatively unrelated ideas is hard to see as either unaware or bad faith. I'm aware that it's a free world and that you can do what you want, but that doesn't mean that I have to like what you do, and it doesn't mean that I can't comment on what you say.

Incidentally: who said that I'm a killer main? Does "disagrees with me" just automatically translate to "plays the other side" to you?

    (Edited for spelling)

Another thing I already posted how I feel about this but hear me out what about this a timer pops up for the killer when he stays around a survivor for too long to prevent camping I feel like that would help better the game because some of these players pretend they're camping but they're just running around you like the outskirts a bit so that's why I want like a circle perimeter boundary of how close the killer can actually stay around you for when you're hooked some of you Killers might disagree but I think this is the best way to prevent campers and on top of that that's why we have the timer because of you guys taking hostage over the game and on top of that you guys have an advantage of using hex retribution that will change the position of your hex and it'll give us more time to get rid of it. I want to see more people talk about how they feel about this no hate just honesty what are your thoughts about improving this game and improving the camping stupidity in this game.

    a) make your own thread

    b) when you do, use periods

  • Okay ideas but with a god-awful delivery. Remember: it doesn't matter how good your ideas are if nobody wants to listen to you. Tone is important, and the tone here is frankly horrendous.

  • I'm seeing a lot of negativity around this chapter, and I'm not sure why. The killer is unique. The map looks nice. A handful of the perks are actually useful. What more can you reasonably expect? The game is busted, but that doesn't mean you need to constantly dump on it. Just appreciate that this is a good update and leave it at that. I'm glad someone else sees this.

  • Remember: the majority of people don't play scummy because they want to ruin everyone's day (although there are a few of those people). They play scummy because that's what the game encourages, and there aren't really any other viable routes towards victory. If you want to get rid of tunneling, give killers something else that they can do to put more pressure on the survivors.

  • Seems hard to quantify. I'd be interested to hear exactly how the game would classify "moving towards" something. What if the killer was already moving that direction? What if they're looking away while moving towards it, or vice versa? How much margin of error is there for "moving towards" something?

  • I'm not sure what exactly that perk would entail. What would it do? When would it activate?

Edit: I'm a tiny brain who doesn't read all the way, but I'd still be interested to hear exactly what you would like the perk to look like.

To be fair, Legion is only crippled agaist the kind of survivors that could beat almost any killer. Otherwise, they're about as good as any other.

What killer can't that be said about?

  • My trick is to flip a coin. You don't have the respect the outcome, but ask yourself: were you happy or sad that that was what the coin told you? Make your decision based on that.

  • Big game: you're too used to hunting large animals to notice small details. While any killer traps or totems are active, you have the Oblivious status effect

  • My mother was (and still is) convinced that there were spirits living in her childhood house. Angry ones. The previous owner seemed to be a drunkard who hid his vice within various nooks and crannies in the house. The bottom of a closet would be hollowed out to hide bottles in, a secret cupboard space would hold a bottle or two of whiskey. In the basement, one of the walls had been chiseled away at to serve as a massive repository for empties. The force of a guardian angel could occasionally be felt, but there were rooms where a malignant entity could override its force. A room in the basement, left unfilled by any boxes or shelves, emanated anger. The concensus among my mother and her sisters was that, if you stepped into the room, the door would shut behind you, and you'd be locked in there forever. Once, the TV broke, for unrelated reasons. They called a repair man, and while everyone else was off doing their own work, he shouted from the living room. People rushed in, and he was rubbing his head, spoon (previously unattended on the mantle, presumably by some empty bowl of soup) by his side. He was working on the TV when he felt it strike his head. He finished up his business and left in a hurry, no doubt in a bad mood. The mantle was on the other side of the room. There was no way that someone would have been able to creep across, throw the spoon, and creep back without him seeing them.

I'd add a mechanic where if a gen hasn't popped in 15 minutes the killer can manually open an exit gate to start a half-duration "Sudden Death" EGC where the other exit gate remains unpowered and survivors are exposed.

Harsh, but if survivors are literally ignoring gens for 15 minutes I think the match can be considered a potential hostage situation and the killer should have the option to force the match to end if he feels survivors are actually wasting his time.

Would that maybe incentivise survivors to stall for longer than they would have if they don't think they can get out by doing generators?

Make it non hex, make it transfer the first lit totem the survivor cleanses and that's it. Nerf aura reading so you can only see them when on a lit totem.

Side nerf: Make lit hex totems slightly louder (not by too much, by 2m).

I want to make it more consistent in what it does but make it weaker overall.

I do like this idea, but having the totem respawn once means that you'll have to cleanse two totems, which is the worst-case scenario for Undying at the moment (Undying is cleansed first, and then the totem that it's supposed to be protecting). This change should allow a totem to be brought back twice instead of once.

    Elaborate on that please.

I bring this up because I thought what they brought up when they changed the generator graphics was kind of smart, there are two sides of the gen working with the levers that let you be more hidden BUT noisier, if you work on the more exposed part of the gen which is the front and back cables you make less noise but because you already are more exposed and easier to be attacked now this doesn't apply 100% with every generator placement but for the most of the part I thought they did a really good job there.

BUTT NO, Let's just throw all of that good thinking I was talking about out the window and just have every generator to sound like you are working on a ######### car in any side killing any potential stealth strategy even though you are working on generators for the exit gates which already are showing visual information and the regular gen noise was good enough, just ridiculous.

Also gens to be more difficult? do you play mostly survivor or killer? i don't get why the gens need something else but if they do They don't need to make me turn down the volume to handicap me to have a harder time hearing what's happening and killing any tension or having it still decent volume so that it hurts my tympanums.

Note: For curiosity and because I was hating the new generator sounds I tried running 'Technician' which muffles the gen sounds and ''Supposedly'' makes the radius to detect and listen to the noise shorter, it doesn't work they are just as loud without it so not a 'Good Job' so far.

Someone disagrees with you and the first thing you do is pull out McCarthyist bullshit. Typical.

That's a lot of gen information, which is nice, but it doesn't help you in the midst of a chase. If you want to keep sloppy butcher then I would recommend the rest be BBQ, Ruin, and Undying, or you could try Sloppy Butcher, BBQ, Pop and brutal strength/endearing.

My favorite perk, endearing, survivors like you too much to drop the pallet on you at full strength

A meme is an idea that is passed on by nongenetic means through culture. There have been multiple threads all saying the same thing. That if you can't down using your power then you're worthless.

Good survivors deal with the cards they're dealt. They see that they CAN'T heal and are forced to stick soley to the objective. Which means if Legion swings back around, and they don't have a backup plan, they're fubar.

It's all level dependant and based on setup. It isn't an instant loss if they're using basic attack.

While I like your accurate use of the word meme...

Consider that you're on the Internet, and here, the word meme has a wildly different connotation than it would in, say, a scholarly article.

    What self-importance?

Just because I can explain how I reached a conclusion and actually try to think how others might, not to mention the part where I said "going off what I have heard".

Maybe if you tried it, you'd come off way less arrogant and insulting.

I can already see this developing into a long, drawn out confrontation, so I'll just share my bottom line and leave it at that:

Your claim that your side is the obviously correct one and that everyone else would reach the same conclusion if only they thought about it demeans your opposition and projects a "smarter-than-thou" personality.

I will not be taking further questions.

Why do forum killers always focus on bloody keys? They're harder to pull off than a mori, and WAY less common. Not to mention more expensive over all and on the side that has tremendously less BP gain!

Look, I'm going off a combination of what I've A) heard from others and B) logically deduced by trying to think like an employee of bHVR. If I can come to that conclusion in all of 10 seconds, then it can't be that hard to understand. Item switching is a scummy tactic, but then again both sides have their fair share. If I am honest though, the survivor ones are usually more predictable because items can be seen.

The self-importance of this post is hilarious. Maybe you'd understand that it's not so obvious if you spent more than the ten seconds thinking that you pranced around as an accomplishment?

  • Infatuated: You can't hold a single obsession for long before another takes your eye. This trial does not start with an obsession. The first survivor you hit this trial becomes your obsession. You can change your obsession 0/1/2 times this match by interacting with a survivor while they are downed.

Steel Monolith: your prayer to The Entity causes the generators to surge with a dark energy. Survivors who stop working on a generator gain the Exposed status effect for 5/7/10 seconds.

Blood From A Stone: You've learned how to focus on the task in front of you without being distracted by pain. While working on a generator, heal for 5%/10%/15% of generator progress applied.

So is the Nurse, right? The entity can give people powers after they die I think

  • It's not the fault of the killers if the meta is a certain way. Instead of wearing the king's pajamas and expecting killers to adhere to your guidelines instead of the game's, give an actual productive suggestion.

You're currently jailed for some reason but I just wanna say thank you for existing and making this comment. I really have no idea where this whole "survivor takes no skill" thing came from. Like yes if you're a sweaty SWF squad you can end a game in 5 minutes and you don't have to do almost anything but you can do the same thing as killer by playing Spirit with a mori, NOED and Stridor and bringing the mother-daughter ring and Wakazashi. This requires almost as little effort to win as the 4-man SWF squad does. Basic killer and survivor gameplay both have a decently high skill ceiling and they should both be acknowledged.

Incidental: what *is* being jailed, anyway? I'm pretty new here, so I don't know how everything works.

  • I think that this is a really fun idea

  • @T2K said:

Imo the game isnt fair and I also think never will be. Its just like the op said, you cant go for 12 hooks without slugging, tunneling etc. You just dont have the time and the game doesnt give you the opportunity to. Only survivors can give you this opportunity by not doing gens, troll around etc. But on the other hand, if the game would give you the tools to do so, players wont start playing "fair". Why should they, if they have an easier time with playing "unfair".

As of now I think just keep playing the way you like it. I just got used to get tbaged and stuff for playing nice. But I have my fun and dont play for kills.

I agree, if you make playing fair more viable, then you have to reduce the strength of playing dirty as well. Idk that increasing the strength of one necessarily has to mean increasing the strength of the other though. (In fact, I think that it can kind of work the other way, where by giving your players new options, you can snip out the problematic old ones more easily)

The thing is I never claimed DBD has a great lore or deep backstory. It has enough to explain certain killer’s powers, which is acceptable to me. I don’t like DBD for the lore, I like it for the gameplay.

You’re right, FNAF has “lore” but it’s poorly put together since it depends massively on fan theories without in-game textual descriptions or cutscenes to help piece it together.

I think that the whole point of FNAF's lore is that it's not explained in game. Having to piece it together through a blend of in-game content and ARG-style clue hunting lends the lore a certain character that is, in my opinion, fascinating. But that's neither here nor there, I suppose. We're talking about springtrap, not FNAF as a whole.

people that think you are wrong, " Um, excuse me, you are wrong in every way, because killer is very hard. You see ( roman word to make them sound smart ) I for one see that killers are stupid in every way and I need you to see that I am right because, I used a roman word on you."

Flagrant strawman arguments don't change anyone's mind, at best stroking the poster's ego and at worst continuing to polarize an already polarized community. I want to make it clear that I'm not really for the killer or survivor side, I'm just interested in people making arguments that will prompt actual change instead of endless trench warfare.

  • I'm genuinely glad that you are having a good time with this game but it seems silly to take your objective experience ("I had an easy time playing killer") and apply it as an objective rule ("It is easy to play killer"). Just my two cents.
