I know he used to play DBD on PS4 before switching to PC. When someone in his chat asked him about leaving PlayStation he said something like "Why play this game at 30 frames when I can at 130"

Here's hoping he'll want to help us out. Think it would be good coming from big content creator that not only played on console but reason they left console was performance was not as good as pc.

  • Tonight I had a red rank killer DC at start of game, it felt like maybe 20 seconds in. I stood behind wall as they came over near me long enough to give me 55 boldness BP, two teammates I don't think had done anything yet because their score was just the 5000 for escaping... I'm guessing the teammate with 7k something BP running bnp hit 70% mark in that short amount of time setting off the killers Tinkerer so the killer DC'd before gen could pop. ๐Ÿ˜‚

I though I read somewhere there was one on PS4, and the rest PC. I asked Mandy about it and they did not know their platforms. So they very likely are all on PC.

For the purpose of getting and handing out codes, auric cells, and the like it seems they can only do this through Steam, plus the PTB's run through there as well. All of which lends me to think console is and always had been an afterthought in all that they do.

Now that all together consolers outnumber PCrs, they suddenly have problems that they likely never wanted or intended to ever have to act on imo.

I could be wrong but I think I've seen people say Puppers used to play on PS4 before switching to PC. Not sure if he was fog whisperer when streaming on PS4 though.

  • Yes, he can set/reset traps where you're standing

Also has add-on that will reset random closed trap every 30 seconds. This one got me at a gen I was working on one time. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • I cannot wait, I'm so excited.

Honestly, I'd hope people wouldn't be so petty as to turn against the goal of optimization just because they are upset with a particular person asking for it.

But this is the DbD community, so who knows? Drama abounds in the Entity's realms.

The ridiculous things from both sides I've seen recently on twitter/twitch chats really doesn't give me much hope. It's sad how petty the followers have been. I've seen people say they won't tune in to the charity stream next month that has like 100 players just because the handful of people involved in drama are participating. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Don't underestimate the pettiness of this community. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Maneater - I love this game so much, cannot wait for the DLC. ๐Ÿ˜

    Borderlands series

Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2 - I like the others but these were my favorites of the bunch.

Evil Dead Regeneration and Fistfull if Boomstick

    Zombies Ate My Neighbors

    Haunting starring Polterguy

Witcher 3 - I love this game, part of me wants to replay it but replays of games like this just don't hold the same magic as the first play through.

Diablo 3 - I know most hated it but I enjoy it. It's a game you really don't have to think at all and sometimes it's nice to sit back and not think. ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Horizon Zero Dawn

Far Cry Primal - having a pet badger that attacks you if you pet it too many times makes this game a favorite just for that.

    Assassins Creed Origins

    Oblivion

    Outer Worlds

    Deadpool

    Biped

Hey @ScottJund on the off chance that you read this, I apologize if this comes off as desperate or rude.

I'm sure that you've probably seen this thread by now, and if you haven't, the first page should tell you what can be found on the next 30+ pages.

At this point in time, I've tried my best to fight to get Console's and low-spec PC's the optimization they were promised, but I find myself unable to carry the topic any further. I simply do not have the influence nor the capability to expand it any more. This is why I've tagged you.

I was wondering if you'd be willing to speak about this topic. You've created some of the best video essays in the community and while I haven't always agreed with you, I have always found your arguments to be well thought out and well put together.

This issue doesn't only affect Console players, but also our friends over on PC as well. Not everyone has the money to spend on a 800 USD gaming system, and we shouldn't need to spend that much money in order to play a 5 year old game.

BHVR's continued silence on this is unacceptable, especially after they promised improvements in March 2019.

Despite this thread, no word has been given about Optimization. I fear that, like colorblind settings, the only way to get results is to continue to expand the audience, which is where you could help.

I understand if you are unable or unwilling to do so, but it would mean a lot to me and to many other people on this thread (and to people on the affected systems) if you would help us.

Based on recent happenings may not be good one to bring attention to this because right now there's plenty that will go against him saying optimization needs to happen just because it's him and the drama surrounding him.

  • New Kate's face just makes me think of this Christmas cartoon. The edits I've seen have been much better.

They will never slow down for the sake of game health.

They don't care about it.It feels like they are aiming for milking DbD as much as possible before it's gonna collapse in one way or the other rather than longevity.

Nope, they've given quite the firm "No" to everyone asking them to focus more on game health.

As long as there's licensed chapters to add to the game they'll get new players in to replace the ones that leave. Easy $60 when new players buy the bundle on playstation to get base game and the license dlc, plus $15 per legendary cosmetic.

  • @DarKStaR350z said:

And all this while theyโ€™re adamant on adding new content without any sign of slowing down to focus on something like this that many would argue should be a much higher priority.

Like with the lack of new maps while they updated the old ones, I would be fine to go the same sort of time with fewer or no new perks/killers/survivors while they rewrite everything; Iโ€™m sure it would be worth it in the long run.

So many have said they'd be happy with less chapters per year in exchange for game health chapters. When they had Q&As the game health questions that suggested doing would have a ton of upvotes. They just continue to dog pile onto they're existing issues and pretend it's OK.

We don't need more characters/perks. For most part you just see same handful of killers and same handful of perks on either side, adding new ones rarely changes anything. New map atleast gives us variety but we missed out on those for 3 chapters.

If they worked on fixing the performance issues it'd make the game more enjoyable and would give them better data for balancing.

  • I think when Stranger Things DLC came out it was $11.99. Would think this would be similar since getting 3 characters instead of just 2.

  • Not seeing it posted by DBD is making me think it might be fan made. Seen quite a few of those floating around.

  • Where was this one posted? I don't see it on their Twitter.

  • They said June 15th on the anniversary stream.

Alright, I asked him to explain what he means. This was his response.

โ€œFrom what I know, Dead By Daylight uses one raw script that loads every single character and perk asset in the game regardless of if they are being used in the match. This means that, for example, Huntress assets like her hatchets and her point gain events are loaded even if Huntress isnโ€™t present in the match. Having a single long script with every characterโ€™s data causes performance issues when a character is called into play later on due to the game having to find their data in the script to call upon.โ€

โ€œEventually, performance degrades to such a point that the game may stutter until it finds the correct character data to load into memory. Games with multiple characters usually compile seperate scripts of data that are loaded depending on if said character is in play; this is not the case with Dead By Daylight, since this game was built on โ€œblueprintsโ€ made generically by other UE devs. The optimal loading method is to have all killer and survivor perks on one script, and all killer powers on individual scripts that can be called upon when that killer is present. If you notice, depending on what killer you are playing, the game may perform with more stutter or less depending on where the killerโ€™s code is in the script.โ€

โ€œThatโ€™s the gist of it. Also, the game stutters worse depending on what survivor is loaded into the lobby, with the four original survivors with their original clothing causing the least amount of stutter.โ€

โ€Also because of this ######### one-script method, it allows hackers to spawn in and use different killer powers regardless of if they are playing a different killer. Normally, spawning in a different character asset not present in that level would crash the game. Look at Left 4 Dead 2, spawning the bride witch on a stage she is not present in will crash the game.โ€

Funny, when you first mentioned this I thought that'd explain the Ghostface with hatchets hack players keep seeing.

  • I always go for the boop, even if it kills me. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Some piggies like it, others tunnel me out of the game.

In my opinion the first three Puppet Master films are the only good ones, and that they increase in quality. Blade and Torch are my favorite puppets, 2 had the bizarre invisible man brain harversting storyline, and then three came along and was, strangely, a somewhat poignant exploration of how the puppets were borne out of the persecution of a French man during Nazi occupied Germany. I can't remember the actor who played Krause but I liked him a lot, he was cool inspiration for Blade.

Glad you liked The Ritual! I never hear anyone talk about it.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256532#Comment_2256532

Curious titles, never heard of either of those.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2256539#Comment_2256539

People did, then it kind of died down right away. Babadook is up there with The Witch and Hereditary as a trio of horror films that were mismarketed, audiences hated them upon release because they've been conditioned to expect the popcorn happy jump scare. Those three films are much deeper than that. They're all very good.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2257206#Comment_2257206

Same here, I was in awe of The Descent. In 2005 it was probably the best, or one of the best, horror movies I'd seen in like a decade. It was so immensely creepy and claustrophobic, I was uncomfortable watching it before anything serious even happened. Great performances, good pacing, some good scares. Excellent horror movie.

More appreciation for The Ritual! Love it.

Jacob's Ladder is a mind ######### of a movie. You have no idea what's happening to the main character or why, you just know that it's terrifying. Those random, absolutely out of nowhere jumpscares ("Anybody in there? ANYBODY HOME!!?") keep you on the edge of your seat all the way til the end. One of the main inspirations for Silent Hill.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2257499#Comment_2257499

Excellent list. How could I have forgotten Ghoulies? The cover of that film, as well as Amityville 3D, scared little me in video stores back in the early 80s. Good times.

I myself would put Kalifornia in the thriller category but it's a great, great film. Excellent performances from Pitt and especially Juliette Lewis. Really strong movie, interesting premise and good twists.

Cutting Class Lol I saw that on cable back in '92 and was like "is that Brad Pitt? Why is that Brad Pitt?" XD

Troll Hunter. I was very surprised by how much I loved this movie. It treats the concept of Norwegian trolls as a very literal thing, the movie feels more like a legit documentary than a horror film. It's really, really good. A fascinating watch.

Frailty - another horror / thriller, and one of the best I've ever seen. Unmissable movie.

Yep, Danvers is, sadly, just an apartment complex now. They kept the majestic facade of the building but the unique bat shaped architecture and crazy complex tunnels (to the morgue, cemetery, etc.) are gone, as far as I know. Session 9 is a gem in that it's got good goosebump tension (and at least one amazing jumpscare) but also because it's a time capsule, a film recorded in a place that no longer exists.

    • I would have to add a couple to my list which I forgot:
    • Summer of '84. Goonies meets Stranger Things meets Rear Window. There's someone killing children in the neighborhood and a group of kids decides to start trailing the suspect, a local police officer. The movie's good, but it's the ending that will stay with you.
    • Hush. A deaf woman spending the night alone in her wooded cabin is harassed by an armed intruder. Interesting concept, good execution.
    • Everyone already talks about Don't Breathe and A Quiet Place, but they're great.
    • I also very much enjoyed both Conjuring films, the first in particular.
    • The Autopsy of Jane Doe. Taking place entirely in a morgue, the always reliable Brian Cox and his assistant try to determine the cause of death of a young, beautiful girl who was found buried and doesn't actually appear to be dead.

Thanks for the enthusiasm for this thread, you guys have given me lots of good new ideas for some solid-sounding horror films. Hopefully I've done the same in return!

I see thriller horror like horror comedy - not straight up horror but still there ๐Ÿ˜‚

    Adding

Pulse (1988) - so much better than the 2006 remake, also has young Joey and Matt Lawrence. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Saturday the 14th - B-Movie horror comedy along the lines of Elvira. It's amazing and everyone should watch it.

The Gate - I know it was already listed, I meant to include it on my first comment, but it is such a good movie. I remember watching it way too many times as a kid, the eyeball in hand definitely made its way into my nightmares.

Cats Eye - another I watched a bunch as a kid, mainly because of the cat. 3 stories through out the movie, last one with the troll is my favorite and it contributed to a troll phobia I had as a kid ๐Ÿ˜‚

Mom and Dad - Parents randomly start attacking/killing their own kids.

I jjst really can't find it in me to play knowing that the company isn't going to address meaningful issues.

It took a damn near riot on Twitter to get them to do ANYTHING with colorblind options.

This is big part of what has turned me off from the game. Their actions don't make me feel like they care about the console player experience. Silence on console optimization, releasing multiple killers in a row that have obvious issues when played with a controller, having limited code event cosmetics that are 30 characters long so console doesn't have a chance unless those giving out codes show mercy, etc. Even when ps4 was unplayable for weeks there wasn't even a "hey, here's some bp for the inconvenience."

We'd need someone outside the DBD community to say something because that'd be bad publicity for potential new players. They already got our money from base game/dlc, they don't care what we say.

  • @Pulsar said:

    Good.

Because it's highly likely that I'll quit in the next few weeks, if not sooner.

MMR, bad community experiences and the absolute atrocity that has been the lack of a response to this issue are driving me away fast.

I'll still be here on the Forums, but I probably won't be an active player.

I've mentioned already on here, my cut off is when I get a ps5. I just don't see the point in installing a 5 year old game that isn't fixing performance issues, just hoping systems will power through them. In 6 months players on PS5 are already pointing out performance issues, who knows how many more will crop up by time I upgrade.

I've cut back playing quite a bit already. At this point I mostly keep playing because it's something to play with my swf teammate - we have a hard time finding games to play together. It's just obnoxious getting outplayed by a trigger in the game causing an fps drop.

  • I don't get why they gave him Grey beard/hair instead of the black he had before. Pretty disappointing there. He also needs his smirk back.

  • Tucker and Dale v Evil - Love that it was basically role reversal from normal horror movies.

Cabin in the Woods - Really wish there was a TV series that had all the different horror villains you see at the end.

Most Eli Roth movies - Cabin in the Woods is my favorite of them.

Fido - Different take on normal zombie movies - people using zombies as house keepers, pets, etc. More horror comedy than straight up horror.

Exorcism of Emily Rose - Loved how this was different from most other possession movies. Using court case to argue possession v medical explanation.

Kalifornia - Writer road tripping across the country to different serial killer sites with his girlfriend, to cut down on costs they have another couple join them not knowing one is a killer. I found out about this movie thanks to my sister that worked at a video store during the 90s.

Frailty - Father is convinced he's getting messages from God to kill demons pretending to be people and has his 2 young sons help him.

Club Dread - Feel like people slept on this because it was horror comedy instead of straight up comedy like Beerfest or Super Troopers.

Critters - Grew up on these movies, feel like this franchise and Ghoulies are ones people don't care for.

Ghoulies - Grew up on these, as a kid 2nd movie made me double check toilet before I'd sit down. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1978) - the tape wormy bits going into people's faces freaked me out so much as a kid.

The Crazies (2010) - Good remake that I think just came out at bad time so people forgot about it pretty quick. So many remakes at that time that were bad or just didn't live up to the originals.

1408 - Loved that for the most part was just John Cusack alone in a room going crazy.

Ready or Not - One of those movies where I got frustrated by all the dumb moves the woman was making but was so good.

The Babysitter - It got a sequel which is sign people liked it but I feel like I don't see anyone talking about it.

Trick R Treat/Krampus - These are ones I feel like should get more love than they do, they're so so good.

Wolf - calling it horror because Wolfman monster. It's great werewolf movie that is so underrated with Jack Nicholson and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Dead Snow - I don't see many talk about this one and it's so good. Maybe it's because they don't speak the language this is filmed in and hate subtitles, which is wicked unfortunate.

Troll Hunter - think same case as Dead Snow, people don't want to watch something with subtitles. Also is one of those found footage type movies so that may also be why. I loved it though.

Let the Right One In - feel like the original was quickly forgotten thanks to English remake. Original was so so good, I love it. Also recommend the book, it's wicked good.

Popcorn - people being killed during horror movie marathon. It's great one and I remember loving the VHS cover when I would see it at the video store as a kid. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Cutting Class - super cheesy 1980s slasher with Brad Pitt. I think it's a shame people let Brad Pitt forget this one, it's amazing. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Session 9 - I remember seeing this when it first released because I'm from Massachusetts and growing up 30 minutes from Danvers State heard plenty of stories about it. My husband (at time was my boyfriend) when we were going to see it had told me about how his grandmother had worked there as a nurse for couple weeks before leaving and wouldn't talk about it at all - that was out of character since she loved telling stories, even if not good ones, about different places she worked as a nurse. Knowing history of Danvers State and having personal account like that added to creepiness of the movie. I find it funny that not long after they filmed Session 9 Danvers State was renovated into "high end" condos and apartments. Girl I knew in college that was from out of state rented apartment there not knowing the history of the place, she wasn't thrilled people filled her in AFTER she'd moved in. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Or when someone posts an exclusively positive thread and they post a thank you for the feedback. I have never seen them post a thank you for negative, but constructive feedback.

An example is this thread: examples of the issues, with videos, people asking if they can do more to help out. The only response: "We will post an update later, maybe" and the sound of crickets.

I am not saying that they don't care about negative feedback but the signals they are sending makes it look that way to me.

You'd think by this point they'd atleast give the post a "bhvr read" but still nothing. I'm not surprised, it just adds to the feelings of being ignored.

I do think that once these types of posts get a certain length the higher ups give orders to find a reason to close them because it's something negative staying at top of main forum. Hopefully if we continue this way of reminding BHVR that this is still an issue they will finally do something to address it to make these posts stop instead of just finding reasons to close them.

Anyway, there was this random paving slab sitting face down on the dirt; we liked to jump on it because it wobbled a bit.

I decided to try and lift the slab, while two of my friends were playing on it.

In my defense, I did manage to lift it a bit - at the cost of half my finger nail falling off and a big scrape and bruise on the same finger too.

Also another one at a similar age, happened when I was walking with my mother to go swimming at the local outdoor pool.

We were walking down an alleyway, flanked either side by bright green leafy hedges that always seemed to attract a lot of wasps at that time of year.

Basically a wasp flew right into my eyelid.

Like RIGHT at it, kamikaze style.

We couldn't even find the rest of its body. There was just its abdomen hanging off my eyelid with the stinger stuck to me.

Anyway, mum plucked it out and we went swimming. Lol.

God knows what speed or direction it was going in to end up crashing into my eye like that though...

I'll always remember that as the day a wasp's arse got stuck in my eyelid... ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh man, I wasn't even thinking of times I've been stung. I have so many stories to the point I actually freak out if I'm around bees terrified of being stung yet again.

When I was probably in 2nd grade my aunt and uncle were visiting from out of state with my cousins. My aunt and uncle decided they'd go to church while they were up and had convinced me to go by saying we'd go to beach after since church they were going to was by it. Was just myself, aunt, uncle, and one of my cousins.

End of church walking out I was stung by a yellow jacket on my middle finger on the inside by middle knuckle. I start crying because I'm a kid and it hurt wicked bad. My cousin makes fun of me for crying saying it's because I'm a girl and we get in argument with me saying my being a girl isn't why I'm crying, bee stings hurt and he'd be crying too if he was stung, that if boys are so tough he should go get stung and prove he won't cry.

My aunt and uncle decide we should skip beach and head home instead to take care of the sting. So now I'm crying because my finger hurts and I'm pissed I'm missing the beach - the thing that convinced me to go and I had I not been convinced to go I wouldn't have been stung. After that anytime my aunt/uncle were visiting or I visited them it was a big nope to going to church, I learned my lesson. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Aside from some Campy Onis most Onis are pretty fair players. While slugging helps them they're not one to leave you until bleed out. They're one killer I rarely run into that'll do things like shaking no at you or just stand hitting you on the hook, most Onis don't waste time doing that.

  • I love playing against Deathslinger, I like that I can fight against his chain. Also his laugh amuses me.

  • Pig because I can boop her snoot. I will die trying to boop the snoot.

  • I love Trapper and love seeing him but Mikey can be way more fun. They way some players play as Mikey they make it creepy and fun time even if you die.

  • I think for new chapters I'm going to start taking note which one pops up first and how long after the patch goes live, and how quickly the other follows behind. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • Can't wait for RE DLC to drop for the Nerf Nemesis/Buff Nemesis threads back to back. ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • I don't know what it is but in video new Feng makes me think of Michael Jackson. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

  • PS4 crossplay off has a ton of red rank killers even after rank reset bug. I think alot of the higher rank killers tend to turn crossplay off, atleast on console.

You guys on this thread are true heroes, you know that, right? Despite knowing that our feedback is not heard, you kept strong and held the line day after day.

Hell, it is already 28 pages long!

I wish the best of luck to you console players, and I sincerely hope this thread changes how BVHR handles community feedback. Not just regarding this topic, but everything else in general.

We're reminded every time we log in that there's performance issues so may as well keep reminding BHVR they're still a thing. I think it helps that there's group of people from multiple platforms speaking up about it and random people keep popping in to share their experiences helping us keep it going.

  • I feel like they've put more random stuff close to windows that I get caught on. They have like little invisible walls that stick out enough to screw you over when moving.
