  • Same on ps4 as survivor.

  • When I get same map over and over without an offering played, especially one I don't like, I usually just turn off the game and play something else.

One time I was sent to the Game map 5 times in a row, no offering played. After 5th time I switched to different game. Funny thing, when they increased Game map this summer during Spiral promotion I didn't get that map once.

Last week when I played there was a night I would get same map 2 games in a row. Had the Game map twice, then Lery's twice, then Hawkins twice... I got tired of only being indoors.

  • Only kills matter for MMR. Just don't kill anyone as killer and make sure you die as survivor.

As killer careful hooking the survivors since if they are matched with survivors that have gained mmr thanks to hiding in the corner the hooked survivor is probably going to die on first hook.

Wow, nice way of saying your point..

But yeah, fine I'm not that great at the game yet and I still have stuff to learn. I'm learning as I go. ...match making is still supposed pair me with survivors close to my skill level. Total loss/fail streaks should not last all night. This is actually the first time it's happened since I started playing which is why I'm confused and wondering if matchmaking was having issues or if I'm just unlucky.

When I mention body blocking I am specifically referring to survivors who purposely crouch in front of hooks as I try to hook someone.. or survivors who purposely stand in a narrow space so I can't move.. of course I hit them when I see them do it.. As for body blocking not being bad behavior, then why did I see it as a report option when I give players props? In case it makes any difference, I play only on Xbox one and I only ever played survivor a couple matches.

Oh and what do you mean by " meming " ?

Body blocking that is reportable is when a survivor blocks another survivor for extended time during the game or a killer blocks a survivor for extended period before EGC starts - in these situations there is no way for the blocked survivor to move away so it is considered taking that survivors game hostage.

It is not reportable for a survivor blocking the killer since the killer can hit the survivor to have the survivor lose collision (or even down them) and the killer can continue on their way.

If you're losing survivors you're carrying due to others blocking hooks you can run Iron Grasp, it's a generic killer perk that will help you keep hold of the survivor while you are hitting the other survivors in your way. Then there's teachable perks like Starstruck, while you're carrying a survivor any survivors in your terror radius are exposed and you can down them if they try to body block.

I've always thought it was the on-screen icon for Exposed or whatever popping up, in particular for the first time in a match, that causes the hitches in performance. Y'all think it may be the activated effect coming into play?

It makes sense that it's the effect being activated and not the icon popping up on the screen causing the issues. If it was just the icon popping up on someone's screen then they should've been the only one to have a freeze, but with Sloppy and DH there are freezes for players not having the icons pop up on their screen. I think the icon wasn't the cause of the performance issues but more so helped pinpoint trigger for the performance issues.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2556568#Comment_2556568

I think it is likely that it's perk related - it would also make sense if it is, even if it's not killer perk related but something like Kindred for example - that would fit with the issue re status effects, if the aura is causing this

When the performance fixes list Sloppy Butcher is the performance fix for just the perk or is it actually for the status effects it causes. Asking because Huntress add-on Begrimed Head has the same status effects and causes freezes when it's used, wondering if upcoming Sloppy Butcher fix would fix that as well if fix is for status effects as a whole.

  • Before dying decided mmr I would always try to boop pig's snoot, I'd die trying if she wouldn't let me. If pig was nice and let me boop her I would give her kill - either by pointing at hook at end for her to do it or having entity kill me for her. Either way I was dying to the pig. 😂

I don't know if this is adressed but when playing as Ghostface AND with the power active, if I get stuned by a pallet my FAN goes like crazy for 2 or 3 seconds (like it use to happen in the offerings screen). Has anyone suffered this issue?

I play on Xbox so I can't be certain.

    @bm33 don't you play on PS4?

I'll hop on and check it out later tonight. As Ghostface going in/out of his power causes performance issues for me so wouldn't be surprised if the fans are going crazy during that time.

For some reason? It's because I want better teammates and I don't want to go against a killer that has a lot less skill than me. Those games aren't fun. My MMR is just gonna keep going down if I keep saving my teammates and dying on hook every game.

I get what you're saying. Before of you died atleast the next round you'd get teammates of similar skill. Now if you die the only thing you have in common with the others is they died too and the following matches just don't feel good. It's not "oh I want high mmr" it's "I want teammates that have skill."

Right now if I die I get stuck in a deathloop because this game for survivor is team-based. If I am getting teammates that died because they were terrible it's not going to be a good/fun match, especially if I'm being left on the hook for multiple stages. It's this deathloop of unfun matches until finally I get a team that knows how to play the game. I used to give killers kills because I knew next round I'd still get good teammates, now I don't do that because I don't want to be stuck in a deathloop. I used to go back and try to save teammates that were hooked near end, now I don't because I don't want to be stuck in deathloop.

All they need to do is make killer interactions, objectives, and altruism also count towards MMR. That way people that died are not just matched with others that died. It ends these crappy deathloops.

I dunno, really? After all the trouble BHVR went through to get rid of limited edition exclusives? Their Rift stuff goes into the store despite some people complaining. They gave out holiday items despite some people complaining. Stranger Things going away isn't by choice, Netflix is calling in all its contracts.

Anyway, I don't think it's actually possible for a game to handle NFTs like, at all. The computing required is too extreme. The only thing BHVR could do is give out a single-use code, which has nothing to do with NFTs. They do that already with giveaways.

But still, this in-game items rumor seems to be based on a misreading of a questionable website advertising expensive digital artwork.

Unless you just mean them pushing through anything that could break the game, in which case yeah, we console players won't forget the RE chapter anytime soon.

I could see them pushing through an attempt at anything including an NFT even if it would be broken/break the game because they've pushed through plenty of stuff that was broken/broke the game in the past.

While they may have given away some exclusive cosmetics there are still plenty of exclusive/limited cosmetics that won't be made available or have no signs of being made available to everyone like Legacy, Meg's Deathgarden mask, Bloodletting tshirt, and anniversary crowns.

The main issue with this rumor is that so many didn't question BHVR would do something crappy like lock content behind NFTs. On Twitter there are fake BHVR accounts commenting negative things and people think it's the actual BHVR account because they don't notice the account is missing a blue checkmark or its BHWR instead of BHVR. People see these and think "that's something they'd say/do..." without looking further because BHVRs actions have severely lowered the faith/trust the community has in them and they expect the worst. BHVRs PR department needs to work on getting back the community's trust so rumors like this instantly get brushed off not instantly believed until people find signs it's fake/bhvr releases statement denying it.

  • @vacaman said:

Do you seriously believe that Behaviour has the capability of implementing NFT technology in a game where the simplest change in the code generates 10 bugs? I'm not worried at all.

I could definitely see them pushing through an attempt even if it was broken/would break the game.

  • BHVR may be victim to this rumor BUT their actions have caused people to have such little trust/faith in them that rumors like this are believable. They need to work to gain back the trust of their community so people aren't so quick to accept rumors like this could be true.

Worst part about all of this is that I can see BHVR doing something like this.

That's how little faith I have in BHVR as a company right now. I've only ever stuck around because I do find this game fun and I want to keep playing it.

It's really bad that so many instantly believe this rumor because it doesn't seem that far fetched that BHVR would do something like this. They need to work on gaining back the trust of the players because this isn't the first time and won't be the last people easily believe something bad about BHVR is true without questioning it. There are fake BHVR Twitter accounts basically saying crappy things to people and they think it's actually BHVR Twitter because they aren't paying attention to lack of blue check mark and that it's BHWR instead of BHVR - it's just "that crappy thing is something BHVR would say..."

We probably won't get an official statement until Monday.

Agreed, was mostly pointing out they're not going to be putting out a statement on a rumor in the middle of the night when they're probably sleeping.

    Silence is deafening

It's 12:57AM in Montreal and it's the weekend. They're not going to be putting out any statements for quite a few hours.

  • Hopefully it's fake. If it is fake though what does it say about BHVR that so many people genuinely think they would do something like this? BHVR really needs to work on their PR because right now it's way too easy for people to think "yeah, they'd do something crappy like that."

  • Supposedly they'll cost $240 each. So $2,400,000 to piss off player base and let 10,000 PC players have voicelines.

  • Spirit, no question. Nurse just isn't designed to be played with a controller.

  • This is really unfortunate and gross.

I didn't think BHVR could disappoint me more than they already have, so I guess congrats on that? 😕

  • @Yords said:

So in the last 2 months, has anything really changed? By a significant amount or only a little?

Short answer - My performance is better than it was after the RE chapter but still worse than it was before the RE chapter.

Apparently more performance fixes in the mid-chapter like for Sloppy Butcher. I want to hope it will make performance overall better but it being right before event I'm not getting my hopes up since the patches before events tend to be a jinx breaking the game so can't enjoy/participate in event. This is looking to be a pretty big patch and is bringing in a new mechanic - I'm worried.

  • Instead of giving the survivors that are actually doing something more skill checks make the survivors that are just hiding in corners or locker hopping the entire match have to start hitting skill checks. Haven't touched an objective, been chased, or helped a teammate recently? Here's one of those speedy yellow glyph type skill checks - mess up and you automatically get 3 crows for 60 seconds making loud noises.

Honestly even if they did manage to kill him, in 2 other Halloween timelines he's been killed and just came back to life in the next movie of that timeline. A new movie means nothing for his chance of dying in my opinion. Although I'm so excited regardless of if they kill him or not.

It's one of those I know even if he dies they can have him come back, just like every horror movie killer or superman, but it just takes away from the kill a bit for me knowing he's definitely coming back instead of maybe they'll have another movie and he'll come back. I'm still excited for the movie, I just wish with movies now they left a bit more mystery by showing less in trailers and not announcing sequels before movie is even finished.

  • The original, Dream Warriors and New Nightmare were my favorites. Original because it's amazing. New Nightmare I remember my sister bringing home the screener copy from the video store my 3 siblings worked at and us all watching it on little TV in my brothers' room - I was same age as the little kid in the movie and credits saying "Freddy - Himself" freaked me out. 😂 Dream Warriors wins though just for this scene, it's been my favorite since I was a kid.

    https://youtu.be/UXhdys1Zlu0

  • I'm looking forward to it but I wish 1. I didn't watch the trailer, I feel like it showed too much and 2. Didn't know there was going to be a 3rd movie already because it spoils the ending if they even try to make it look like they may have killed Mikey.

I'm wicked happy they are having it available to stream so I don't have to go to the movie theater. Before everything shut down from covid I was already done with movie theaters since everytime it was just filled with people talking throughout the entire movie.

  • I partially played the first few, but I sucked at the time so never finished. I need to go back and play them. Played BL3 all the way through and really enjoyed it. I played as Fl4k because I'm a sucker for having pets in video games. DLCs were fun for the most part. Still have some of the random extra bits to do.

  • Original movie he was a child murderer, here's scene with Nancy's mom telling her the story.

    https://youtu.be/ppVa3pi4qD0

  • Timing of getting in/out of chase can be one thing to screw it up. If you fall before game thinks you're in chase or you get too far away from killer and at same time as fall it thinks you're out of chase it won't count.

I play Haddonfield when I need to get the fall from great heights challenges done. I know killers hate it but it's the best map for that challenge because guaranteed great height every time I jump from second floor window or balcony. Also easier to stay in chase with killer in a house, especially with the distance killers.

Except both of mine asked about near enough the same thing and I still haven't given my opinion on RPD or any killer outside of Pinhead.

They really need to just put all the questions on one survey. I answered the questions that were the same between the surveys the exact same and got one with the killers/RPD and the other with guild/discord/cosmetics. There's no reason to not let everyone that actually takes time to fill out the survey be able to answer all the questions - especially when ones are directly related to gameplay and the others are not.

The question about what ruins your game experience also had different options for answers. On one of mine performance issues was an option and the other it had cheaters but both listed support responses. They're going to get more saying support responses and way less saying cheaters/performance just because of what options were available depending on the survey you had.

  • @TicTac said:

My survey was completely different. I guess my opinion about this awful map doesnt matter.

There were two versions of the survey. One asked about killers/RPD map and the other asked about discord/guilds/Linked cosmetics.

  • I noticed when my swf teammate and I die we get stuck in a loop of dying because we get teammates just hiding for the match while the two of us are the only ones trying to get anything done. When we finally get matched with good teammates and escape we get a few good matches until we come across a good killer and die and it's back to being stuck in death loop again until we get a good team again. Atleast before if we died we would generally get skilled teammates the next match.

Before we were more willing to give killers that had a rough match a kill or stick around to help the randoms. Now when last gen finishes we leave so we don't drop in mmr and get stuck in a death loop.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

My favorite part is how much up to this point BHVR loved to tell us "The system doesn't just track kills and escapes, we found that system doesn't work so we changed it." We ask them what mmr is then and they go "Kills and escapes." So now I feel we can't take the devs at face value because they literally lied to us just to tell us the truth later. I know it's BHVR and we should just expect that from them, however we shouldn't put up with that.

  • I've noticed this happening way more often lately with killers. Killers will leave an injured survivor in chase just to tunnel out another survivor.

  • @Clowning said:

    No.

And I'm incredibly displeased with how the Devs spoke of the issue.

To quote Patrick, Lead Game Designer, using mostly a rather condescending tone: "There's sort of, a question I get asked a lot, I see from the community, I've even had people on the team talk to me about. They talk about the Survivor perspective of: I was playing a game of Survivor and I looped the Killer for seven consecutive hours and I unhooked, y'know, eighteen other Survivors and I healed for ninety-three health states, I fixed ten generators, it was such an amazing game, I truly am a god amongst men when I play Dead by Daylight. But then, right at the end, I got thrown on a hook and I died and I don't like that counts as a loss. And the idea here is, wouldn't it be nice if you could do all of that and sometimes you get out alive? Right? Wouldn't that be nice? That's the idea, that's all that MMR is trying to do. It goes, I know you've died, it's ignoring how you got there, because there's too much nuance to be able to make a real, effective system."

Like, on what planet is this an okay thing? How is this a mindset the Devs should have? I'm actually blown away that this is just the thought process that goes down and nobody's questioning it. Yes, there's too much for MMR to calculate, so maybe instead of trying to make DBD a competitive game, maybe instead of trying to force MMR, they could find a better system. And ######### me if the tone and delivery of that statement didn't answer any and all questions I could ever have about how Behaviour views their game.

This. Before if I was "God amongst men" in the game and died I would pip and next match be matched with teammates of equal skill and have better chance to escape. Now, if I'm "God amongst men" and die I have high chance of being matched with those that died because they are terrible and increases my odds to die again. His "you'll get easier matches if you die" applies to 4swf not solo or 2swf.

This is just like Almo when he said "Based on stats OoO is fine" and Cote had to point out stats wise may be fine but how does it FEEL for players, they say it feels bad so we should look at it. They need to look at how the game FEELs with SBMM. It doesn't feel good to die and get a bad team after over and over until you luck out with team that actually had skill. It doesn't feel good to know you played the match great but died and now you are getting sent to play with other players that aren't necessarily skilled - you just all died recently.

  • Disappointed they didn't address the optimization promise question that was asked in Q&A. Wish they went into more about performance fixes when they had the chance with the graphics options question.

With the question from Japanese player about supporting ps4/Xbox one was happy to hear they will continue support. What I noticed was he said "we love our Japanese player base" not "we love our console player base" - seemed weird to focus on it being Japanese player base instead of console player base, almost like if it wasn't for the Japanese players we'd be screwed?

  • @SloppyVoldemort said:

Or you could get a SWF together... I mean, that's the way they want to go with the game right?

I'm guessing that's why one version of the survey had question about adding Guilds to DBD. They don't want solo q.

  • No, I'm not OK with how they calculate MMR. Someone that spends the match hiding until escape should not be rewarded over someone that did objective and helped teammates but died. It is not SKILL based and they need to stop calling it that.

  • @tippy2k2 said:

Is this why I keep getting toddlers who accidentally booted up DBD as my teammates?

I never have any issues with dying (I am the survivor who will go for high risk stuff to save someone else because I don't really care if I die). So it makes sense that I keep getting put with friggin potatoes who do nothing all game. Even though I regularly outscore everyone on my team (even people who survive when I don't), the game thinks I'm a useless potato survivor because I never seem to survive...

Super. Just...super. As if being a solo survivor didn't already suck donkey, now you're telling me that I'm likely going to just be stuck at this level because BHVR somehow believes that surviving is the end all be all to the game.

This. That "you'll die so have easier killer" doesn't matter if when you die you get potato teammates too. You end out dying faster each match because they're too scared to save you from hook/are hiding in corner all match. I don't mind dying when I get team that tries and pulls their weight, I mind dying when my swf teammate and I are the only ones doing anything all match.

  • They need to stop calling it SKILL based match making. Hiding in a corner all game doesn't take skill. I keep getting worse and worse teammates when I'm doing gens and making saves, I'm getting left on first hook to die. These aren't skilled teammates and the whole "wouldn't you want easier match after dying" isn't taking into account the bad teammates you get and just being stuck in bad match after bad match.

  • @LinkToReality said:

Odd, I got no questions about other killers than Pinhead and not about any maps...

To me the survey won't really mean anything unless everyone get the same questions apart from the ones that require you answered yes on a previous question like the ones about multiple platforms or Discord.

There's multiple versions of the survey. I took it off Twitter originally. Then I saw on here people got different questions than I did, hopped on FB and retook survey - answered same questions the same way but it had the sets of questions I missed originally and was missing few sets from first one. Then I checked in game survey to see if that too was different and those questions matched first survey.
