There are about 4 killers that I don't really like playing, and I can safely bet that their rituals come up every goddamn day.
-
Yeah it's broken, that's why nobody runs it.
-
Just one for me, people using things to alter the game and give themselves an advantage. This includes cheating, hacking, video filters, stretched resolution, sniping streamers, and even voice comms. The game is a lot of fun and challenging without doing all that, and it really ruins the experience when players do it.

Is there supposed to be a point somewhere in that rambling mess of (not so) veiled condescension?
Sure, let me point it out for you since you do not understand. The main point is in the first and second sentence. The third sentence supports the first two. The second paragraph is a separate message directed toward you if you are demonstrating the behavior described.

There you list some good uses of slugging, and in addition to those are the ones I have listed earlier throughout this thread.
Point being that slugging has many aspects to it that many players, especially Killers overlook, as we are "programmed" to focus on hooking more, and also Survivors "expect" it.
Also as my point in OP, that Devs also may be overlooking this core mechanic. (Such as its really only Knock Out in Killer perks that applies to it specificially, and no abilities are specific to slugging either).
TLDR: We are so used to "slugging" leading to hooks, that we take it fot granted somewhat without thinking/planning/perking to capitalize on it.
Many killers don't "overlook" these "many aspects". They just don't do it because bleeding out a survivor doesn't award any points for sacrifices. There is a difference between a kill and a sacrifice, bleeding out a survivor doesn't give you any points for the effort, because you aren't doing anything.
If you were using this no point strategy to do something like stay in low MMR and bleed out inexperienced players over and over because it is "fun" for you, whatever, but it sounds like you are taking this game way too seriously. Not saying you do that, but if you do, then yeah, maybe it's time for a break.
-
This is the same way I feel about playing as killer lately and my matches are exactly as you described. There is quite a bit of bullshit in the game that remains patch after patch while nerfs and buffs are applied around it.

Nope cause as a soloQ, you have pretty much all the informations needed with kindred, perk that no one use cause survivors have it ez.
Killer should have an average kill rate of 50% at high MMR against SWF, with a deviation of 25%.
Then SBMM would have a sense, putting good soloQ survivors together that all have kindred and know how to play against a good killer.
Even though SBMM should be tweaked as taking in account only kills and escape is dumb.
Oh come on, as good of a perk as Kindred is, it barely touches equaling all the information that a SWF on comms has. And a SWF gets to run an extra 4 perks because they don't need Kindred on everyone, making them that much more difficult to deal with. A killer that can 2K a comp team would destroy a bunch of Kindred running solos.
-
Getting a 2K on a comp team seems balanced, if not a bit overpowered if you factor in that the same killers will be going against solo players too.

It would depend on the ratings of the Survivors you've killed.
- If you and the Survivors all have the exact same rating, your rating wouldn't change.
- If the Survivors that you killed have a higher rating than you, you gain more rating.
- If the Survivors that you killed have a lower rating than you, you gain less rating.
- If the Survivors that escaped you have a higher rating than you, you lose less rating.
- If the Survivors that escaped you have a lower rating than you, you lose more rating.
- Hatch escapes are a null (it's as if that Survivor was never in that match, you nether gain nor lose rating from them)
So when you kill 2/4 Survivors, your rating change is the sum of each 1v1 matchup. I'll use some made up numbers as an example here:
- Kill "better" Survivor: +20
- Kill "equal" Survivor: +10
- "Equal" Survivor escapes: -10
- "Better" Survivor escapes: -5
So in this case, 20 + 10 - 10 - 5 would leave you net positive with a +5 gain.
This is a simplified version, of course. The difference in ratings is also important (e.g. Killing a way better Survivor rewards way more, while Killing a slightly better Survivor rewards only slightly more.) It's not a single fixed bonus.
(Again, please don't read too much into those exact numbers, they're not at all accurate, this is just an insanely simplified version for the sake of explaining how it works.)
Hopefully that clears it up a little.
@Peanits if a survivor bleeds out or is mori'd do they award the same points as a sacrifice?
-
I'll run Surge or Deadlock sometimes because I'm pretty lazy and can't be bothered to kick gens. Lately I've just been running a dumb obsession chasing build that I find a lot of fun: Furtive Chase, Nemesis, Hex: Plaything, Rancor.

My no kill Trapper says otherwise. I will get brand new players if I don't go one a killing spree every now or then.
Remember, killer mmr is based on kills. If you get one or two kills your mmr isn't going down.
I don't think killer MMR is based entirely on kills. I am aware of a player who 4Ks every match by slugging/bleeding out players at 5 gens and their MMR stays the same, they just keep getting obviously low MMR players over and over. The system is probably based more on the emblem system requirements than just kills.
-
@vacaman said:
I did exactly that to test MMR, I played Trickster with no perks no addons and no daggers, just a 110 killer with no power and a lullaby and i never got as many toxic respones as I did, so no, I'll keep tryharding and I'll keep complaining untill they make MMR public and make this a proper competitive game.
I play pretty chill, don't really take the meta perks, usually run meme builds, and don't care if I kill everyone or they all get away. But I still get these teams loaded with the meta. I can still find builds that are fun for me to play, but it sure gets old seeing 4 DH/DS/BT survivors with super powerful items/add-ons in the post match screen, game after game. The inflated skill level those perks and items give and the inflated egos that go with them can smoke a turd in hell.
-
Deathslinger could have an awesome video game of his own. A steampunk, cowboy, bounty hunter game just sounds fantastic.
-
Green Keys will become normal keys and just serve to open the hatch. Purple keys will open the hatch, but also open the hatch for the survivor while they are in the dying state. Pink keys will do everything that purple keys do, but they will also open an exit gate 75% faster. I just made all this up.
-
What a great change. Now I can take my time and aim down the sights before a survivor Dead Hards through my shot. Cool.

Those aren't strong enough we need in game info🤔
I think not having all the info is most of the fun with this game. Too much info makes it way too easy. There are plenty of perks to run that will give you the info you "need".
-
I'm sure those all-seeing add-ons are going to be put on notice this upcoming Monday.

Blood favor sounds very good on legion. Most survivors stay where they got hit to mend.
I'm hoping that Blood Favor works with all special attacks, especially Nemesis' tentacle strike.

Spirit is the only one able to compete with Nurse BUT you forgot to mention the fact that if you are a top MMR player with the Nurse (maximum MMR, let's say top 1%), all other killers in your roster will have a MMR of top 5%. So you will still face top survivors and won't be able to do anything.

This is the high MMR trials, where even a considered tier S killer into the hands of a high skilled killer do 0 kill.
First screenshot he did 5 hooks, 2 kills and camped to get those kills.
Second screenshot he did 2 hooks only..........
That streamer isn't a good example. He does killer/survivor rotations and has viewers choose his builds. No way his MMR is max level because he doesn't devote enough time to any one killer. Someone at the max MMR would also bring all the meta perks and play like an absolute lunatic, throwing in all the dirty strategies they can in order to win. That streamer doesn't play like that, he prioritizes hooks over kills and actually plays rather chill.
-
I am happy they changed it for the Third Seal, it's fun to use on Legion when you can apply it with Feral Frenzy.

It is used often because the pool of strong Survivor-Perks is so small. And especially Exhaustion Perks are way too situational for the most part. Killers wanted Balanced Landing nerfed, Devs nerfed it and now Killers are surprised that so many Survivors are using Dead Hard. Guess what, this happens when you reduce the number of strong Survivor Perks.
And if the Devs nerf DH at some point, we will see many Sprint Bursts and Killers complaining about Sprint Burst, because SUDDENLY with great surprise, everyone will run Sprint Burst.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2511683#Comment_2511683
This idea is really bad. You should be totally free in what you want to play and not be limited by things like others running the same Perks.
I'm not of the same opinion that the strong survivor perk pool is small. There a a lot of great perks to run, but they all don't make the game much easier and forgiving. Using meta perks makes the gameplay easier and causes an inflated skill level. Players running perkless, playing solo, and being successful should be the highest skilled players in the game. Can't say I see that style of gameplay too often.
-
I can't remember the last time I was in a match as either survivor or killer where Dead Hard wasn't used by someone. It's overused because it's so powerful. Hell, even when it was broken people were still choosing to take it anyway, that's how powerful it is. Something should change that.
-
You said you are winning quickly and easily as killer, sometimes that means you win with just a few hooks and a Brutal Killer rating. Go for as many hooks as possible, aiming for a Merciless rating each game and see how your opponents improve.

Thats more of an ######### thing than a wraith thing yknow? And nerfing wraith's add ons will not solve massive slugs.
I agree, it is an ######### thing, but using those add-ons in particular just enable it to an extreme level. People are using Wraith with those add-ons to bully other players and it needs to stop. That's my main concern about them, but really even for people who aren't abusing them, they are a bit overpowered when combined with Wraith's adjusted speed.

Hold up, what does being able to see gen progress have to do with slugging people to death.
And tbh, his iri all seing is about the same info you would get from quite a bit of the gen tracking perks, not that big of a deal.
It's not just gen progress, it's narrowing down where the survivors are, then pinpointing it with the purple all seeing. Believe it or not, there are players that do this and just slug and let people bleed out at 5 gens. It's a crappy way to play and something needs to be done about it.
-
Both All Seeing add-ons need to be changed. Those add-ons are too easy to use for trolling players by slugging them all and letting them bleed out. Having the speed Wraith has, and knowing exactly where survivors are is too much of an advantage.
-
Figure out if the problem you are having is with the killers, other survivors, or yourself. You can use perks like Bond and Spine Chill to narrow down between the first two. If the problem is yourself, figure out what your weaknesses are and either build on them, use perks to give you a boost in that area, or rely on your strong points to make it through the match.
I really recommend Bond, it gives so much information on what is happening during the match. You can see where your teammates are so you don't lead the killer to gens in progress and you can see when they are in a chase and headed right towards you. Take note of what they are doing and react accordingly by either doing an objective or getting on the move.
-
The main issue I would improve is the box. In all my Pinhead games so far, I have found that box exactly 1 time. It's tiny and practically makes no sound. The only reason I found it was because the icon popped up on screen when I walked over it.
-
Do you have crossplay turned on or off?
-
I have faith in them, they created a great game and I still have fun with it after 5 years, bugs and all.
-
Because it's a cheap tactic. Camping, tunneling, and slugging are tactics that can turn around a losing situation for a killer, but using them right from the start just drains the fun out of the game. And the reason most people play games is for fun.
-
He has too much speed now. I used to play Wraith a lot before the last buff to his speed. It was challenging and I always had a good time. Now it's just way too easy to kill everyone, even with non-meta perks and ESPECIALLY with meta perks. You combine that speed with either of the all seeing add-ons and it's good luck Charles for survivors. They over-tuned him and it's pretty obvious to me that a nerf is in his future.
-
You don't have to always loop, just be unpredictable. As killer, I have seen the same loops over and over and expect good survivors to run them a certain way. Some I don't even bother with. But the survivors who really get me are the ones that I have no idea what they are going to do in a chase. Watch Cope's survivor videos/streams if you want to get a better idea, he is the best example I know of this.
-
I've noticed some of his add-ons refer to him as The Showstopper. Maybe there is another killer in the works who is actually Tricky and they just mixed up some of the stuff.
-
I just try to catch them off guard. If you see flashlights in the lobby, try lightborn, agitation, and mad grit. Sucker them in for some bodyblocking hook action and go to town.
Just try for something off meta that they won't expect. Sometimes it will give you a snowball win.
It sucks so get weird with it.
-
Why do so many people run this perk if it's broken?
-
We've lost our lease! Every Demogo must go!

I don't know Hellraiser, but supposedly the video teaser is a very specific reference to the first Hellraiser movie.
But is it? It's a TV in Hellraiser....a TV. I'm sure there are a bunch of TVs in plenty of movies. The TV in Hellraiser doesn't have a VHS player and is a completely different model, they are both TVs, that's about where it ends. As much as I'd like Pinhead, this is reaching a bit.

@TAG said:

Yes, but they didn't drop a video teaser showing bees and candy like they are here with the hint to Hellraiser.
To be fair a TV and VCR aren't exactly strong hint for Hellraiser. A strong Hellraiser teaser would be the damn puzzle box. BHVR is probably screwing with everybody, again. Look back when Chains of Hate was released, the chains were a stronger Hellraiser hint than a TV and VCR. People have been wrong about Pinhead before, there is a good chance everybody is wrong again.
And really, Pinhead deserves a massive hype teaser, more along the lines of the puzzle box. That would get people pumped up because you know a horror icon is coming. To me this trailer doesn't seem on the level Pinhead that would have.

date on the check checks out.

I play solo queue and since MMR I've actually been pipping up again. I went the whole last rank reset pretty much stuck at rank 4, I'd pip up, then get games where I'd be camped and end up with 3K points or games that were over with fast escapes but no chases or unhooks resulting in a negative pip. Since they enabled MMR, I've had a much better time getting better games where I can actually rank up. I also haven't been camped AT ALL with MMR on. I usually play pretty chill, so it's nice to be matched with other players who play the same.
-
Dodging the lobby after you already played the match? Good plan, they will never expect that one!
-
I'm convinced and would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
-
Sometimes if my Spidey sense goes off I'll check a steam profile. If I see a VAC ban on a player, I'm out.

I guess you have a great point. I personally love crossplay with all platforms but sometimes in the high red ranks a lot of survivors I go against that play on PC use stretch resolution and it becomes impossible to mind game them as the killer since they have such a huge unfair advantage which is pretty annoying to deal with. anyway. I agree with your point.
How can you tell a lot of them are using stretched resolution? Is it that they are hard to catch at red ranks?
-
Myth: That most SWFs are chill, not try hard, not very good, just want to have a fun etc.
Truth: There is no way to prove this and to think that players queue into a match and don't want to win seems unlikely.
-
Keys are a pretty overrated problem. I play a lot of both killer and survivor and really don't see very many people escaping by using keys. Sure it happens, but really not that often. Probably about as much as I see a Devour Hope mori, which isn't too frequently. The solution is Franklin's if you are that worried about it.
-
When Furtive Chase first came out, anyone who unhooked anyone else became the obsession. It was actually a lot more fun to use in that state and better synergized with other perks. But I do run both of these perks together from time to time, I just combine them with Nemesis and Rancor for pure obsession chasing fun. When that build works, it REALLY works. But it doesn't work very often, just good for getting those "hook your obsession" challenges done in 1 go.

How do you manage the side to side sway? What's your sensitivity also?
For the sway I take into account which hand the knife will be thrown from and adjust. My sensitivity is at 87 which is just the setting I found that allows me to play pretty much any killer without having to change it every time. I'd probably put it at 75-80 if I was going to play Trickster for a long period.
