Important question for the devs/Mods because of the SBMM 50-50 %

Important question for the devs because of the SBMM 50%.

First of all, thanks again for the Q/A and the explanations regarding the SBMM. Since then, my way of playing has changed a little bit. But, what I would still be interested in is: What happens in a 50-50 match? Does the Killer get a little plus in MMR or a little minus in MMR ? or does everything stay unchanged at 50-50? So a zero/null Round ?

Theoretically the numbers fluctuate with the survivors, we know that. ( who dies first gets the bigger adjustment and so on ) I understood that with the Hatch too, no problem. I'm just interested in what happens when 2 survivors escape and when 2 have died. Can someone please explain this to me or answer ? That would be awesome.

regards

  • It would depend on the ratings of the Survivors you've killed.

    • If you and the Survivors all have the exact same rating, your rating wouldn't change.
    • If the Survivors that you killed have a higher rating than you, you gain more rating.
    • If the Survivors that you killed have a lower rating than you, you gain less rating.
    • If the Survivors that escaped you have a higher rating than you, you lose less rating.
    • If the Survivors that escaped you have a lower rating than you, you lose more rating.
    • Hatch escapes are a null (it's as if that Survivor was never in that match, you nether gain nor lose rating from them)

So when you kill 2/4 Survivors, your rating change is the sum of each 1v1 matchup. I'll use some made up numbers as an example here:

    • Kill "better" Survivor: +20
    • Kill "equal" Survivor: +10
    • "Equal" Survivor escapes: -10
    • "Better" Survivor escapes: -5

    So in this case, 20 + 10 - 10 - 5 would leave you net positive with a +15 gain.

This is a simplified version, of course. The difference in ratings is also important (e.g. Killing a way better Survivor rewards way more, while Killing a slightly better Survivor rewards only slightly more.) It's not a single fixed bonus.

(Again, please don't read too much into those exact numbers, they're not at all accurate, this is just an insanely simplified version for the sake of explaining how it works.)

Hopefully that clears it up a little.

Thank you very much for that Peanits. This is very understandable and explains everything you should know *thumbs up*

Wouldn't that example be a net positive +15?

    Because it's +30 and -15

Just making sure it's a typo and I'm not missing something.

@Peanits if a survivor bleeds out or is mori'd do they award the same points as a sacrifice?

You are correct, and this is why I try my best not to do any math before my 4th coffee.

I assume DCs also void ratings but what about a survivor deliberately struggling and letting go on first hook?

After all the information we got from the developers about the SBMM lately, this question answers itself. What should be with him ? Since he dies first, ( no matter how ) he gets the most MMR adjustment. To the negative of course. (whether now more or less is put aside).

but both that and EGC deaths seem extremely open to abuse, especially now we've been told exactly how it works. I'm just kinda hoping the devs didn't just hand us a guide on how to lower your MMR and ruin other peoples games at the same time...

IIRC, their original position was that they weren't going to explain exactly how the MMR gets calculated, so that people couldn't abuse the system, but then data miners told everyone anyway. So, now they're explaining it to us. :(

No matter what the system is, if you explain exactly how it's calculated, you make it vulnerable to abuse, so it kind of sucks that it's now out in the open.

Let's face it, most people shouldn't stress about the SBMM. But they often do, for whatever reason. But the SBMM is not that important at the moment. There is neither an official ranking list nor anything else. I think it's good that the developers told us how it works. My way of playing DBD has also changed. Either I go full on kills and try to push my MMR (which in my opinion is not so important at the moment, because I don't know my hidden number and there is no ranked mode) or I play nice and chilled and go for blood points, pips, improve my grade and so on and improve my overall performance. The MMR results by itself and eventually everyone is where he belongs to the skill. What I want to say is, the devs have done nothing wrong. On the contrary....but that´s only my opinion.
