The game has really shifted away from the slower, creative playstyles that used to define it. The loudest part of the community kept pushing for a speed‑focused meta, and Behaviour tuned the game around that feedback. Now everything feels like a rush with constant info perks, nonstop mobility, and matches that play out like a race instead of a horror game.
The old fun stuff like stealth, weird perk combos, and experimental killers pretty much got erased. What’s left is a shell of what the game used to be, with almost no room for the slower, more atmospheric styles that made DBD special.
-
I see a few popular streamers running the same builds, perks, using the same strategies, using same killer, playing with the same group day after day and match after match. That to me is boring. It's so bad for some of them that I can't even tell if the stream is live or a rerun. So really any match that lacks creativity or has monotonous gameplay, pretty much the majority of matches going on these days.
-
When Puppers passed, the fun of Dead by Daylight went with him.
-
The biggest problem with the game is that the most brain‑numbing, low‑effort tactics are also the ones that deliver the highest efficiency, and it drags the whole experience down. When the optimal way to play is to tunnel, slug, hold W, or run the same tired meta perks, the game stops rewarding creativity and starts rewarding whoever is willing to make the match as unfun as possible for the other side. It creates a feedback loop where players feel pressured to use these tactics just to keep up, even if they hate them, and the result is a game that punishes interesting play while elevating the dullest strategies to the top.
-
Throwing the survivors on the hook has never been any type of meaningful gameplay.
Sacrificing survivors is the killer's main objective, the entire foundation of killer gameplay revolves around throwing survivors on hooks.

This is moronic - they can just disconnect when all four of them are down, do you not realise this?
How is this moronic? The killer's objective is to sacrifice survivors, not leave them all on the ground. You are the one that said you had to clean up bots every time. If you don't want to do that, hook someone so the abandon feature isn't available to them.

Are you being deliberately obtuse? It's one thing for a player to stay in the game out of spite, struggling while the game is already over. It's another thing to have to wait for bots to stop doing this every single time
Maybe you could try playing in a way that won't activate the abandon match feature for the other side then.
-
Why is it wasting your time if it's a bot? You are spending time playing the game regardless if it's a bot or player.
-
I've been saying since the dawn of time that bleeding out survivors doesn't count as a kill and is a draw for survivors. This like everything else in the game is evidence of that being true.

But yet killers are rewarded by bleeding out via the no one escaped bonus. If survivors avoid gens and get auto sacrifed due to server end timer they don't get a survived the longest reward lol. They get nothing for the efforts of doing nothing. The killer does get a reward for killing all survivors even if it's via bleed out. 2.5k BP bonus for all survivors dead... This includes bleed out. Remove that bonus and you have a point but while that reward remains there is a reward for bleeding out if it contributes to all 4 survivors dying.
If a killer is playing for BPs, bleeding out survivors is still the worst way to get them. 2.5K for no one escapes? How many BPs are earned by hooking and sacrificing or mori? It's a lot more than 2.5K, and you still get the 2.5K if you actually kill everyone this way.

It's not standing there doing nothing because the killer still has to chase and hit the survivor twice to down them and then actively keep them down (prevent healing) to get the kill. Ensuring a survivor bleeds out takes more action from the killer than a Mori where they just press a button to kill. Also proxi camping a hook while the survivor slowly dies could be considered standing there doing nothing to get a sacrifice but it still counts.
It does also specify in the manual that
"the survivors will be attempting to repair 5 generators to power the 2 exit gates and make their escape. Killers should do everything in their power to stop them."
If bleeding them out stops them (which it does) then the killer is doing as the manual suggests, everything in their power to stop them.
It is standing there doing nothing. It's the same as when survivors don't do generators and hide, eventually the game ends because one side didn't take action, and that side is not rewarded for their efforts. The game is doing everything possible to tell the killer not to bleed out survivors.

True bleedouts don't count towards adepts and challenges and does lower the rating of the devout emblem but it still rewards killers with 2.5k BP for no one escapes bonus. And killers can still pip up with bleeding people out if they have earned points in other emblem areas. If 1 gets hatch for example killer doesn't get no one escaped bonus, if they bleed out they do because regardless of how they died they didn't escape. It's not called "sacrificed all bonus" it's "no one escaped bonus". It's not called 4S (4 sacrifices) it's called 4k (4 kills).
I'm not saying your wrong but as you point out, the in-game manual is very wishy washy. Objective is sacrifice but mori and egc time count as sacrificed even tho they are not. That says to me the objective isn't to sacrifice as the manual states, it's actually to kill. So from a certain point of view bleedout as a way to kill and stop survivors escaping is completing the killers objective.
It seems like if they wanted bleedouts to count as kills they would have added it to the list that they updated last patch. This list doesn't mention anything at all about "standing there doing nothing" as a way to kill a survivor.

But Mori isn't a sacrifice or using the hooks yet that's legit? So how is that sacrificing to the entity which is the main objective? I would say the main objective is kill survivors/stop them escaping which a bleed out does accomplish this goal, it even gives the "no one escaped" bonus if there is a bleed out.
The in-game manual explains the killer's main objective is to sacrifice survivors. When a bleed out happens, a killer did not do what they were supposed to do to win against that survivor. Bleedouts don't award any points, they lower match grade rating, and the game won't count them for completing adepts, daily, or tome challenges. A killer has to take action and hook or mori a survivor in order to get credit for a kill. It's also not like end game collapse where the timer favors the killer and Times Up counts as a sacrifice/kill.

Yet a Mori doesn't sacrifice to entity but does have the same result of eliminating a player from the match. Basekit Mori for last survivor or tombstone Myers isn't killer completing main objective?
Yes, a mori is a legitimate way to kill a survivor and complete the objective, bleeding them out is not.

How would basekit unbreakable effect downs near pallets (which they often are). The result would be pick up and get stunned by pallet save or leave slugged which they get themselves up. Same thing with flashlight saves or flashbanhs. Or when people bring petrified oak with several anti hooking perks. Puts the killer in a lose lose situation. True it would stop slugging... And the entire killer player base from playing the game.
The reason the timer for being slugged is so long is to give people time to crawl to a better location for a safe heal but people rarely do that. They just afk or DC which is probably another reason so many killers slug.
Also just because the hooks are there doesn't mean people should be interacting with them. Same argument could be said for slugging, the bleed out is a mechanic so killers should be doing it. Or killers like Myers that can Mori whole teams without a single hook. Just saying there are many things that the Devs put in the game but it doesn't necessarily mean killer or survivor SHOULD be interacting with them. They are there as an option, one of many options.
The bleed out mechanic is not there to let killers win the game, a killer's main objective is to sacrifice survivors to the entity. Bleeding out isn't a legitimate way to kill or sacrifice a survivor, and the game docks a killer when they do it.

The emblem-based scoring screen, that is based on the emblem system, that wanted to discouraging killers from slugging, is not giving bleed outs the same score as sacrifices.
And you keep getting the words incorrect. The emblem-based system doesn't score BLEED-OUTS the same as SACRIFICES. Bleed-outs always counted as kills, because the survivor literally dies from bleeding out.
MMR is based on escapes and KILLS. MMR is not based on escapes and SACRIFICES.
Bleed outs never counted as kills under the older systems either, you would lose pips. Moris also didn't used to count, but that was changed and now they do. You have no proof that the MMR system is doing what you say it is, and nothing to back up the claim. I don't have proof of what I'm saying either (that's why I've asked the devs for it), but there is a whole lot of evidence that points towards what I'm saying being correct.

If people repeatedly ask BHVR to tell us the official overall win condition, and they repeatedly refuse to tell us the official overall win condition, then there isn’t any official overall win condition.
What we do have, is the most popular unofficial win condition for killers, which is a 3k or 4k, and it doesn’t matter if the survivors were sacrificed or if they bleed out on the ground.
Popular doesn't mean correct.

But you understand that's a strange stance though, right? You're essentially just making something up because the sources can't be cited on the official DbD forums. It has been confirmed. People aren't saying how because we aren't allowed to.
Why is it a strange stance to want to know what is actually happening? And what have I made up? The game currently isn't scoring bleed outs as kills, this can be seen by anyone in any match they play and is a fact. Show me where it was confirmed that bleed outs increase killer MMR and I'll STFU about it. Send me a message if you aren't allowed to cite a source on the forums. I will even follow up with a comment that says "Hey look everyone, I WAS WRONG" if you do.

Players are making up win conditions because BHVR refuses to give us an overall win condition.
We literally don’t have an official overall win condition, even though we’ve asked for this many times.
The win conditions are on the post match screens. You have the killer grade screen, the scoreboard, the emblem BS. If someone is playing for kills, the killer grade screen is the place where those results are shown.

It also doesn’t matter if bleed outs are worth points.
Most people consider 4 bleed outs as a win for the killer, and that is more important than an invisible MMR score that they never get to see.
Most people aren't bleeding out survivors. The ones doing are not participating in normal gameplay, and from what you just said are playing by their own made up win conditions. See why this is a problem? All the other players join expecting a game where each side plays to win. But a bleed out killer is playing to their own standard of stalemating the match and believing they won.

They’re correct though. A kill (no matter what form it takes) is an MMR gain for the killer. That’s just how the system works.
The thing is nobody can prove that is how the system IS working. Yes a kill is a gain, but the game is showing us that bleed outs are not kills. And the devs have started in their official communications that legitimate kills change the match result rating.
Without actual visible proof that bleed outs raise MMR there isn't anyway to logically come to the conclusion that they do.

Because MMR scores a bleedout as a kill. It just does. Each trial is four 1v1s. The system doesn't care how someone dies. A gate escape is a survivor win. A hatch is a draw. And a sacrifice/bleedout is a killer win. The system would be even more of a mess if killers could essentially smurf by circumventing MMR gains.
Got ya, "is just does". No evidence, no proof, everything in game contradicts this, but for some reason unknown or proved to anyone, "it just does".

Merciless Killer is based on the Emblem rating system, which is completely separate from the SBMM (MMR) rating system.
The emblem rating system also cared about how many chases a player was in, and how long each chase lasted. The emblem rating system cared about many things that aren’t relevant at all to the MMR rating system.
I am aware of this and it doesn't change the fact that the game does not score bleed outs as kills. The killer has objectives and if they don't complete them the game tells them they didn't.
When everything in the game that is visible tells the player that a bleed out isn't a kill, why do you think a hidden system that is based on the same game information would score it differently?
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3874006#Comment_3874006
MMR systems don’t work like that. If someone loses MMR, then someone else is supposed to gain MMR.
It would be a major loophole, if killers could start a new account, have a 100% slug strategy, and never gain MMR. It would mean they would be at default MMR (or lower) forever, even if 3-4 survivors bleed out every single game.
Also, if all 4 survivors bleed out, the majority of players still consider that a 4k. The way you define “kills” isn’t a popular definition. Claiming that a 4 survivor bleed out is a 0k will never be a popular opinion.
It doesn't matter what players consider a kill, or how I define it, the game straight tells us what is a kill as of patch 6.5.0.
- Moving forward, getting 4 Kills will earn the Killer a Merciless Killer rating, rather than the previous requirement of a double pip.
A player will NEVER get a Merciless Killer rating if a survivor bleeds out, and the rating will reduce further for every additional bled out survivor.
As far as the loophole you mentioned, that in fact what is happening.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873847#Comment_3873847
Because it doesn't make sense for an MMR system to count a bleed out as an MMR loss for the survivor and the killer at the same time. That's not how MMR systems work. If one side of the game lost, then the other side of the game is supposed to win. It doesn't make sense to say that both sides lost the game.
Because, for reals, if you really think a 4-survivor bleed out is a loss for the killer, then you should go to all the forum posts where survivors are complaining about being bled out, and remind those players that the killer lost those games.
Chances are it's not a loss for survivor but counted as a draw like the hatch is. After all, the survivor has evaded the killer for as long as they possibly could and avoided sacrifice or mori.
As for bringing it up in other threads, I have. But a lot of players can't seem to process this information because it would invalidate their kill steaks and "skull = kill" mentality. Bleed outs aren't "I win" buttons that can be pressed to skip two thirds of the killer gameplay.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873767#Comment_3873767
If a survivor bleeds out, it still counts as a kill for the killer. Score events aren't relevant.
It also wouldn't make sense for bleed outs to be negative MMR for the killer. If killers that constantly bleed out survivors never gained MMR, then they'll never increase in MMR to the point where they can be matched with survivors that can handle that gameplay. It's basically saying killers could spend infinite time in low MMR, where it's likely those survivors would lose every single time.
A bleed out doesn't count as a kill in any other aspect of the game, why would MMR be any different? The game even tells the player this right when the match ends. Also, check out streams of players who habitually bleed out survivors, you'll see they play mainly against beginners.
-
@Coffeecrashing said:
https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3873718#Comment_3873718
MMR systems can't work like that. Survivors lose MMR when they bleed out, which means killers need to gain MMR when a survivor bleeds out. You can't have a situation where a survivor is worth negative MMR points for both the survivor and killer.
MMR isn't a factor for events, not sure why you mention it, and you can't see what is happening with it anyway. You are also speculating this aspect of the MMR system and have no way to prove what your are saying is true.

There absolutely are reasons to bleed survivors out on the ground…
When all 4 survivors are slugged, they will very often still try to wiggle if they are picked up. And hook respawning doesn't change the fact that there often are situations where all 4 survivors aren't in range of 4 separate hooks, especially if they were slugged because they all stayed in the same area.
If multiple survivors haven't been hooked yet, then placing any of them on a hook can actually make the game LONGER, because they might self-unhook and then try to pick up their teammates.
This is why I keep arguing that if a survivor has been slugged for 60 seconds, they should automatically get teleported to a 2v8 cage. It stops prolonged slugging, and ends the game quicker because the game would automatically end when all the remaining survivors are in cages.
It's always better to go for the hook, since the game doesn't care about these reasons you listed. The game scores bleed outs as a loss for killer, you will see this on the first match result screen. By letting survivors bleed out, a killer fails to accomplish the primary goal of sacrificing survivors to the entity.
Automatically teleporting to a 2v8 cage is better idea than what is currently going on, but it takes away the responsibility of the killer to take action and make the entity happy. Same with speeding up the bleed out timer, which is another frequently requested idea to solve this.

He's been doing experiments lately with different things, and generally people are starting to realize that with all of the perks and basekit things survivors have, survivors have far more options to counter hooking than they do slugging and the counters are just less effective.
Take a look at all the perks that survivors have that interact with hooking or unhooking:
- Babysitter
- Background Player
- Boil Over
- Borrowed time
- Breakdown
- Breakout
- Camaraderie
- Dead Hard
- Decisive Strike
- Deliverance
- Kindred
- Off the Record
- Power Struggle
- Reassurance
- Resurgence
- Saboteur
- Second Wind
- Shoulder the Burden
- Slippery Meat
- We'll Make it
- Wicked
Not to mention all the perks around blinding the killer like champion of light, or flashbang or residual manifest, as well as the basekit BT, the anti facecamp mechanic and pallet saves and toolboxes.
When you look at those perks too, you'll see that:
- Deliverance
- Dead Hard
- Off the Record
- Decisive Strike
- Flashbang + Background player
These are some of the best perks in the game for survivors. There's a reason comp limits them to only 1 per team and why you'll often see SWFs stacking 3-4 of these perks each.
Now what about slugging? Well you have:
- Unbreakable
- We're gonna live forever
- Soul Guard
- No Mither
- Flip -Flop
- Boon: Exponential
Far less perks, and if you look at them, far less effective as well.
- Compare DS to Unbreakable. DS stuns you for 5 seconds, letting them get to safety. Unbreakable you just down them again
- WGLF was already nerfed recently, and by the time someone finds you (thanks to knockout), you probably already healed up most of your bar anyway
- Soul guard is pretty meh as a perk and pretty rare in general, but it is pretty good.
- No mither is a horrible perk, and if people run it you just hook that guy and slug the rest
- Flip-Flop is really only good with power struggle and if you don't pick them up nothing to worry about.
- The boon can be cleansed.
So all in all:
- The best perks in the game for survivors are around being hooked/unhooking
- Survivors have so many Basekit things now around hooks its pretty insane
- It takes 20 seconds to pick up a survivor, walk to a hook then hook them, time you could spend elsewhere
- It takes 210 seconds to die on hook and 240 to die on the ground, not much of a difference when you are saving 20 seconds per down.
- BHVR keeps nerfing the good gen defense perks like pop/pain res which relate to hooks
- Most of the anti-slug perks have counters if you play around them
- You don't have to worry about pallet saves
- You don't have to worry about flashlight saves
- You don't have to worry about flashbangs (which are bugged btw)
- You don't have to worry about sabotage and toolboxes
- You don't have to worry about counting hooks in a world with shoulder the burden (much easier to keep track of the length of their bar)
- You can camp the slug if they are about to die and not worry about Anti facecamp measures
- You get a more chill experience as killer because you just chase survivors and down them and move on.
The only downside really is you lose out on hooking perks yourself, but that is mitigated by things like surge which work without hooking, and also you are getting 20 more seconds back every chase, which lets you apply more pressure faster, so it balances out a bit more.
The better question to have is not "why are people slugging more" the question should be "why AREN'T people slugging more".
Try watching a recent game where tru3 plays his normal stuff, counts hooks, deals with shoulder the burden etc. Now watch one of him slugging and watch how much more chill he can be and how much easier it is for him to do stuff.
This reminds me of how Distortion used to counter so many perks so effectively. Distortion got nerfed pretty big time, this no hooking playstyle will probably get the same treatment. Not having anything be too powerful seems to be a trend.

Next topic.Wrong again, you are on a wrong streak, are you going for some type of achievement? Mori has counted as a kill since since at least patch 6.5.0, bleeding out is just about the only thing that doesn't count. You're the killer. You kill. A killer is going to win if they kill survivors. It doesn't matter if entitled people decide that, even though the killer killed them all, the killer still lost because he killed by means that they dislike. Talk about entitlement lol.
Call me when they change the "killer" name to "hooker" (no pun intended) and then we can have this conversation again.
On the match result screen, THE GAME tells you that bleeding out is not a kill, not me. You should learn to read and understand what the game is actually telling you instead of making up your own bullshit. Don't forget, you aren't really a killer, you are a video game player, and that video game has rules to win like any normal game does.

Daily rituals? What? I'm amazed people who care about that exist. Adept achievements? You do that once, big deal. Are those really your arguments?
Here's mine: You're the killer. You kill. The end.
You ignored the part about the killer match result ranking dropping. The devs clearly stated that all kills will raise the killer match result ranking, all the way to merciless killer. Bleeding out a survivor drops it, so bleed outs aren't kills according to the game. The killer is taking no action to actively kill a survivor, so the timer is what ends up causing the survivor to die, not the killer.
This is a basic concept of the game, taught in the tutorial, and even a little picture example on the loading screen for a killer's first few matches. A killer isn't going to win if they can't grasp the basic concepts and objectives of the game.

It won't happen lol they already tried the base kit unbreakable and it lead to survivors abusing it by not allowing killers to hook or bleed people out which was actually taking the game hostage. So the choice is endure 4min bleed out which is a legit method of killing survivors and considered perfectly fine to do or allow survivors to take the game hostage by prolonging it indefinitely which is something they are not allowed to do. Pretty clear what the better option is that's why base kit unbreakable was never implemented after it was trialed
How can you say that bleeding survivors out is a legit method of killing when doing so won't let you complete daily rituals or adept achievements, and your match result ranking drops a rank for each survivor you do it to?

sounds like the Entitys problem since devs confirmed it as a viable strat geuss they need to reward me instead

Please reference where they said BLEEDING OUT is a viable strategy to win the game. Even the tutorial teaches players to hook sacrifice.

and mass slugging a bleeding them out does fill the objective yet devs are completely adding changes and buffs to things to stop Ergo pressure
Bleeding out doesn't fulfill the game's killer objective, you get zero points and displease the entity when it happens.

If it's not bannable, then it is by definition acceptable. I know you are waiting for devs or mods to explain their rationale here, but honestly if I was them, I would not open that can of worms. Different people get offended by different things, and if BHVR had to explain why something is or is not OK every time somebody is offending by something in the game, they wouldn't have time to do anything else. So their approach here, which I completely agree with, is the following: clearly state in the game rules what is bannable, anything not included in that list is not bannable, and we're not going to spend time explaining to everyone why.
This is a bigger issue than you are implying and they should explain why they continue to allow it.

The developers have already spoken though, in the form of the game's official rules. Which makes it pretty clear that silly stuff like this isn't a banable offense (so long it doesn't become repeated targetting across multiple matches).
Not asking if it is bannable, it isn't. The OP and I are asking how the dev's think this behavior is acceptable.

They've already stated many times that literally what the OP showed in their video isn't bannable and have asked people to not report it. I'm just telling you what they've said, not speaking for them myself. Thanks for your snarky comment, though.
And you are ranting about a related subject, not the question asked, which is how this behavior is acceptable to the devs. Saying it isn't bannable isn't the same as explaining why they think this is an appropriate way to play their game.
