DBD have introduced penalties to DCing which really need to be applauded and worked for a while until people realised what they could get away with and how.
The messages from people about how unfair DC bans were made me smile as in my humble opinion, if you choose to play a game then you play it and not DC because of something you dislike no matter how small or big.
Survivors who unhook for the BP should be far more heavily penalised when the survivor is immediately downed off the hook. I've had bond where survivors are all crouched waiting to race to that hook 1st for the points, like you say it just throws the game.

Some killers people have mentioned are reworks not new killers

It's essentially what you're saying, you lost three survivors and assumed you they went into a corner and healed each other and think that's grounds for nerfs because you struggled.
Bud you can't put in quotes something I never said then base your arguement on it.

You run the team mate, but you have to do it more because your SWF team mates are forced to do gens slower, it aint that hard to figure out, chief.
You mean the solo has to run the killer more as SWFs are slower? Do you know why it has been suggested SWFs need to be slowed down?

"nerf survivors healing speed because i can't even find 1 of 3 injured survivors", you don't want nerfs for balance, you want nerfs because you need more help in match.
You've put in quotes something I said but haven't???

This is such a non-issue, why even bother talking about it. Punishing people for having friends? What a pain that would be.
Explain please?

You lost three injured survivors and somehow end up trying to nerf SWF healing speeds? lmao.
Useful and insightful?

This punishes solo players just as much as it punishes SWF, and it'll just make more solo' people wait to play with their friends because it's better to play with friends and a reduction than play solo and everyone else be slowed.
Nerfing speeds is not healthy for the game.
Please explain, eg how does it punish solo survivors
-
No but do watch their side afterwards.
Had one rage quit who blamed me for sniping!
-
Until SWF are addressed anything except tiles will also keep them above solo survivors
-
I played by the survivor rulebook today, I hooked everyone twice and they all escaped.
One of the best games they had played in said a survivor, only problem was I was exhausted afterwards and had little to show for it.
Play how you want to play but everyone starts the game expecting to survive or not and be upset if they don't
-
I'd have to agree that new killers that have appear really have sucked the last being the Scary Cowboy, Oni and Demo but how cool would it be if the killer actually wasn't just an M1 or rework of an existing killer. Have your fingers crossed guys

What about the percentage of people who play killer who don't give a ######### about SWF in comms?
I honestly don't care if I go up against a team in comms and there are a lot of us out there who don't spend their time obsessing over SWF in their lobby. I'm just playing a game and I'm not going to start crying that people want to play it with their friends. Some groups are good, some are bad. I'm not going to pretend that I know which ones are SWF and which are solos I'm not going to waste my time looking at profiles to check their friend list before I consider readying up. I'm just going to play the game as I usually play it and not fixate on whether someone is talking to other players or not. You should try it, you will stop getting so bitter and twisted about people playing with their friends when you don't obsess over it.
"BHVR appears to be improving their game and would like to suggest two options when the killer plays SWFs, for them to either take an improved BP or for the developing killers a slow down (like thana) imposed only on the SWF players."
Taken from the original post, I think it mentions more BP for killers.
-
As far as I can see, this post relates to :
1. starting to have fun with killer again
2. people are DCing again
3. how easy solo survivors were to play against as killer compared to SWFs.
First one is a big pat on the back
Second is a pat on the back but needs to be watched
Third isn't being addressed because it is a huge problem in DBD, I guess I like to talk about current issues in DBD which unfortunately SWFs balancing seems to be a white elephant for some.

I play against sweaty Red teams all the time and I personally think people give them too much credit.
Yes of course it’s true that good ones DO exist, but at the same time it’s not every SWF team that wins the game, it is the most efficient team that does.
Information does not mean you are a good player. Knowing where the killer is and relaying that information doesn’t mean you are going to win. There are more variables to it than that.
If communication were an extra perk (which in all honesty it is far more than that) then of course it doesn't give a win but it does give an unfair advantage when compared to the poor solo random survivor without this perk, hence a balance is needed for it to be fair

Communication is way overrated. All you have to do is have game knowledge to be as good as a SWF team. People don't run strats in DBD like some people around here think. Coms is mostly used to make fun of the killer they're facing. Any group of solo players can play the same way as a SWF team. It's just about getting matched with top tier survivors that know when to do things and when not to do things. It's really not a hard game. Anyone thinking that this game has communications like CS:GO is kinda silly. You don't need to talk to own a killer. It's already easy.
I disagree, I watched a chilled group of friends playing SWF and it not only negates certain perks but adds others not even in the game.
I understand it is fun, but as soon as you hit rank 10 as killer you seem to suddenly get red rank survivors in x number SWF groups constantly.
The game simply isn't balanced for players on communications
-
Just played a daily and had a 3 SWF, injuried them all so they went off to a corner and healed each other.. How do you play against that?
Slow down the healing for numbers of SWFs.
One even found the random and summoned another group heal.
I'm lucky to get healed by anyone when I play solo

Actually, voice comms is not the main problem, because friendly SWF has it as well. The thing with SWAT SWF groups it's coordination. So even without voice comms you won't get to "hurt" them. Being honest, it hurts the game when there is a youtuber or twitch user, showing a video on how they bully a killer, then solo players and SWAT SWF say "that's funny, I want to try it", wich is a way to spread the toxicity. It doesn't help that BHVR calls "tech" to something like the "window tech" wich is an exploit, of course it's hard to fix it so they'ld just "ignore" it than focus on fixing it (and since a lot of survivors use this "tech" and have fun with it, it's another reason to not looking into it) , the same happended with infinites when they said "it takes skill" because the player base is composed about more survivors than killers, so ok they had fun with it, but with all the updates, a lot of the killer player base actually fulfilled what they said and they quit the game, wich is not good for the game so they needed to take action.
Friendly or SWAT, comms give an unbalanced advantage

What does that mean?
I could be a top level survivor, give me Comms and I improve, give me coordination of who what when where and I'm almost unbeatable.
Comms isn't balanced so ranks SWFs higher.
It isn't fair on solo survivors or killers when the game isn't balanced
-
@Waffleyumboy said:

The answer is simple: balance the game around top level play
First step has to be balancing SWFs to work out the top level players
-
@tippy2k2 said:
I said it in another thread but these things get buried so quickly that I'm just gonna repeat it...
The issue is there are two kinds of SWF groups
- The group of friends who want to play together
- The SWAT Team
Group 1 is great to play with. They're fun; they get to have a good time with their friends while I as the killer get to go through my normal Killer Duties and stab people
Group 2 is the problem. While this may be anecdotal evidence, I have found that the SWAT Team is usually not only damn impossible to beat since they are in constant communication with each other but they're always the biggest toxic ######### to play again. If there is a cheap tactic, they'll use it and if they get any chance at all to mock the killer, they will 1000% take it.
The biggest issue that Group 2 causes though is that these are the groups killers remember and these are the groups that make killers quit the game because they're not only frustrating to play from a game-play standpoint, they always seem to make sure to rub it in your face and make the experience as awful as humanly possible.
The problem is that I don't know how you could solve Group 2 without directly hurting Group 1. If Group 1 starts getting hammered and frustrated by nerfs, they're gonna quit and now you just lost four players from your player pool. If you just ignore Group 2 though, Killers are eventually just going to say "F*#$ this S$1* I'm out" and now no one has anyone to play against as your Killer pool Yeets out.
I do not envy the position that the DBD team is in here
Firstly thank you so much for a fair and honest opinion @tippy2k2 and agree with a lot of what you have said.
As a quick sum this might look like :
SWAT team survivors>Friends survivors>Solo survivors
The gap between solo and comms can never really be bridged unless comms introduced into the game but then that opens up langauge barriers and forms of abuse.
The gap between SWAT and just Friends playing survivor can be looked at as not playing as optimally.
At the moment the wait times are due to the number of killers and every player should be playing killer 1 in 5 games but most don't. I don't think i'll ever get bored of playing survivor but the feeling of being helpless against a SWAT comms team is a terrible experience most players don't ever wish to face again.
-
Having a dynamic reporting portal for BHVR would be a big overhead but would also expose where issues lie in the game.
BHVR recently have been suggesting not to show ranking and the option to see SWFs whether at the beginning or end of a match doesn't exist.
I think this would be really good to change fields/parameters to see who is the best survivor/killer depending on x and y etc.
-
This can cause the new player to never play killer again or find a new game

Totally missing the point of this thread. Moving on.
Perhaps further detail about what you'd like to mention could be in your post?
Probably best to move on

Dealing with the rainbow ranks:
Even slower wait times for matching survivors and killers. Swf rainbows are an exception. "Batch" matchmaking, causing longer waits for killers meaning less killers who play for the insta lobbies.
MMR is faster rainbow lobbies, first come first served. Big jump in MMR if rank 20 killer beats red rank survivors.
Big issue is getting enough killers to deal with the high demand of players wanting to play survivor
-
"THE DELAY IN THE MATCHMAKING CHANGES IS ABSURD"
It also covers wait times
-
It is easily fixed, just play killer

I’ve been playing for about 3,000 hrs and nobody comes unless you flap your arms. When you flick them, they stop.
I can only think you were playing with the green rank survivor who was doing this, it always seems to be the new ones that wave their arms thinking they are signalling for someone to save them
-
Of course we all know SWFs are on comms passing on this kind of information but any buff or ners BHVR make to perks/addons to survivor or killer will not fix the gap that speaking with your friends gives.
Until they match SWFs with solo survivors the game isn't balanced, it is a huge flaw that should be in the top 5 of the devs list to fix.
-
1,000,000 Blood points spent on the Wraith just before it was released into live.
How can it be tested in PTB, the issue discovered and nothing be done about it!
-
@JediWithASniper said:
I learned the exact opposite, and survivors always know what it means when I do it.
You'll probably notice people doing gens instead of coming to save you straight away then, the flapping has been a sign of camping since the game came out. Up to you bud but it will just confuse your fellow survivors especially when Ghostface pulls them off the generator and thus making signaling even more confusing for survivors (except SWFs)
-
Thanks for the hard work devs but I also do think there should be a QA department or PTB where issues can be raised before going live which should have happened with the new Wraith bell delay issue and months old sound issues with downed/injuried survivors

I didn't tell you to stop, i'm telling you that you're in the wrong section of the forums.
Sorry Boss I'm very frustrated by this.
I spent all my BP on Wraith trying to get back into playing stressful killer only to find a huge delay in ringing the bell which some people are saying was in the PTB!
I appreciate that the devs are trying to improve things but this is a huge nerf and now Wraith is unplayable for me.
Once I calm down tomorrow I'll probably be joining those long survivor queues so will be getting some DIY done in between games
-

Then make a report here: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/categories/bugs
This is something obvious that developers never mind QA should spot.
The grunting of survivors on the floor has been logged for months yet the furthest back it seems to show March 2020!
Think I'll continue to rant about something that should never ever have got into the live environment
-
Occasional flicking is 45 degrees or below for someone please start coming to get me
Above 45 degrees is flappy bird for Piggy is camping me do gens please
-
Tapping / Flapping is where the arms don't go above 45 degrees but hardly used as most people get saved
-
The only thing I can see is...
"The Wraith: Fixed an issue that caused the Wraith to not see his arm when stunned while carrying a Survivor."
I'm fine the Wraith losing his arm as he seemed to be able to find his fecking bell!!!
Ding, Ding it went or Ding, Ding, Ding...
Not Ding..................... Ding.....................!!!! #RantOver
-
So no questions about balancing the huge SWF Comms imbalance?

@PyroGL said:
The difference between a flick and a wave is not distinct enough. If you are moving your hands at all, it means killer is nearby. Otherwise, come save.
I'll hang on the hook and if nobody comes I'll flick until I see one on their way.
Map wide comms would fix this issue of none or two survivors unhooking me
-
I've tried to block other survivors from going into the basement before but they didn't seem to get the message.
I've heard some people say hands waving is for come and get me!!! In this scenario would they just hang on hook???
-
Do you mean for SC (Scary Cowboy?), best with DS is unbreakable which is a great second chance perk and even better in SWFs
-
Spinechill is becoming more meta, similar to Iron Will sure to the stealthy killers and I'm including new scary cowboy due to his low terror radius.
I normally run perks that saves a team not normally run by them and spine chill is my selfish perk.
Spine chill to warn me, Iron Will to further avoid chases, Small game for the team and inner strength to benefit from small game. Tried this as a solo and has rocketed me up to red ranks however issues arise if others duplicate so don't use my loadout ;)
-
What strategy do you employ when the hatch is closed when playing killer of you don't keep checking on each gate?
-
If every player played killer every one in five games the wait times wouldn't be as bad as they are.
Unfortunately the problem is that they don't and avoid what is seen by most as the unfun side of the game causing the wait times.
BHVR are planning to bring FIFO queues where rank matchmaking means less so you could be playing with red, yellow, pink and green, purple and orange and blue ranks. This means an unbalanced game with solo survivors suffering and buffing 4 man SWFs further, but hey the matches will be slightly faster at first as one side will likely blow the other away. Solo survivors will suffer as it will be likely at least one or more of the team will not be as effective as the others.
Another solution is to bring fun and effectiveness for the killers meaning less fun avoiding the killers powers for survivors but more killers so quicker lobby times with more balance. *BHVR is more recently addressing this thanks to stats from dedicated servers
-
@Champagne said:
When a killer camps both exit gates when there are 2 survivors left, I get myself into so many situations like this and was wondering can the killer get reported for that, same with when the killer camps 3 gens when they are very close to each other and no one can do anything but sacrifice themselves to the killer cause they don’t wanna stay in a match for no longer than 10 minutes.
You'll need to play killer more to understand why they camp exit gates or 3 gens. It concerns me the word 'camping' where a killer might use the word 'patrolling'.
'reported' used that the killer should pay and it is wrong of them.
A killers subtask is to stop survivors competing their objectives, the main is preventing them escape.
The gates can spawn close to each other unless you are in the game or Hawkins maps, this usually is frustrating as is 3 gens close to each other.
The problem is as survivors you have let yourselves down being most powerful at the beginning and gradually can only become weaker.
You must ensure not to 3 gen yourselves and escape through the hatch if you haven't kept your numbers up to stretch the killer at the gates. If you haven't done this you are weaker and the killer has nearly won the match.
This is why SWFs are so powerful with comms as the killer can't be everywhere chasing 4 people at once.
My concern for you is falling into playing only one side of the game when at least 1 in 5 games you should be improving by playing killer.
-
If you are on PS4 then no you can't be DDOS'd as you only connect to a dedicated server in America.
No other connections are made which is why everything is so laggy with hits and grabs.
Without making a direct connection you are unable to know other players IP addresses making it impossible to know where to DDOS.
Before dedicated servers gameplay passed directly to each client making it a faster method but also open to DDOS attacks
-
I've read some good comments from our community both killer and survivor sided.
I think we all agree that at the end of the match it should show the SWF groups, this would show transparancy to inform the killer and other survivors.
In the main whether a sweaty of chilled SWF there is an advantage over being a solo survivor.
BHVR haven't implemented anything to address the balance for the cause of killers skipping lobbies because we all want to win and have fun.
SWF is an advantage utilised by some survivors and less effectively by others.
To address the gap some have mentioned awarding more bp to killers yet this may lead to further lack of killers as this doesn't address the killers who play for the fun factor only those skilled wanting a challenge.
Another solution would be a slowdown only for the SWFs, this would bring a more balanced side to the game and addressing the fun factor.
Perhaps this is something that can be choosen by a killer in an entity slot, e.g. SWF BP, slow down SWFs?
-
Killers skip lobbies to avoid SWFs which can only mean SWFs have an advantage over solo survivors which not only is it not balanced but BHVR are hiding this.
The idea of MMR and batch matchmaking is showing BHVR has given up on balancing the game.
Not only will solo survivors get rainbow ranks it will create a greater gap with SWFs who will want and be able to play with their similar ranks.
Even as a survivor I don't know if I've been carried by a SWFx3.
We need a balance so that killers don't avoid SWFs
-
@Seanzu said:
What? lmfao.
If I could see the killer, I wouldn't dodge every Spirit, you wanna know why? Because she's boring to play against, does that mean the game is unbalanced? No, it means I don't like playing against certain things, obviously killers would dodge something that they seem to think makes killer impossible to play.
As a survivor if I could see the killer I'd adjust my perks to counter whoever I'd be playing.
I'm a bit confused from your comment, are you suggesting SWFs are boring to play against like you find Spirit?
-
I feel people are now aware of what they can and can't get away with when DCing now.
The introduction didn't have an immediate effect until the second day, then all of a sudden the game became so much more of a pleasure to play.
People still kill themselves on hooks and SWFs run to the killer once one of their friends has been killed early on but there recently has been an increase in DCs.
Please can we increase the penalties?
PS I've just had Haddonfield 4 times in a row... playing killer I think this never happens when I play survivor.
