I took an extended break. I can't be blamed for rank resets.
EDIT: I'm now rank 5, but when I "resumed" I was rank 20. That's not my fault.
Now how could you take a break for that long from DBD ;)
I'm actually rank 15 when I posted, not used to double pipping this quick

OoO & SWF on comms is Gg
SWFs should never be able to use a perk like, BHVR should really rework that perk

Conspiracies aside, yes, of course we do. There's some in just about every patch; sometimes there's even so many that there's a dedicated "Killer Bug Fixes" section in the patch notes. Even this PTB has some (more to come with the full release): https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/kb/articles/194-4-0-0-ptb
To put it simply, there's a lot more moving parts when it comes to killers, which means that there's a lot more that can go wrong. Every survivor is identical in terms of gameplay, they just have different visuals and voices. Meanwhile every killer not only has shared issues, but also have their own unique power and add-ons that affect them, requiring their own animations. Their perks can also interact with powers differently in unintended ways (Play With Your Food, for example). I know it seems as simple as "two sides" and might come across as favouring one side over the other, but it's really a matter of 21 different things. There's 1 baseline survivor, and then there's 20 killers. If you fix a bug for a survivor, you've fixed it for all survivors. But if you fix a bug for Freddy, that doesn't fix something for Demogorgon.
On that note:
- We are working on this one. This is a high priority. The issue with bugs like these is that there's no consistent way to reproduce it. If you don't know what's causing it, it's way harder to fix it. That said, we're hoping to get this fixed as soon as possible, it's not forgotten.
- Please report this when it happens. These are usually caused by specific spots where the killer cannot get to. We fix them when we see them, but we need people to report these sorts of things in order for us to see them.
- I can't say I've seen this happen before. There may be some sort of interference on your end, possibly a hardware issue (doesn't have to be the controller itself). Still, I would suggest creating a bug report and give as many details as you can. If anyone else is having the same issue, they'll be able to chime in and give some details.
- The bug here is for the most part in the animation; you are not meant to get the grab. The survivor already let go, and teleporting them back so you can grab them would be massively unfair. That said, this is something that's going to be improved upon in the future. We're going to revisit interactions and update them to work better on servers so everything looks like it should.
A quick explanation for the last one: You sent a message saying, "I want to grab this guy." and they sent a message saying, "I let go." Whichever one gets to the server first normally wins. Typically that's whichever message gets to the server first, but it also takes time for the response from the server to get back. With that in mind, you start the grab animation immediately and send your "I'm grabbing him" message, then the server goes, "No, you can't, he already let go." Your client doesn't know that until it gets the message back, and so your grab gets cancelled.
Firstly thanks for the reply @Peanits I appreciate the explaination about survivors almost being the same with different skins/height
1st: Downed no sound bug - No matter which killer the sound bug is an issue and should be in the generic/nonspecific code for killers with downed survivors. On some maps the killer loses their down &/ precious wasted time. I do hope this high priority bug does get fixed next update/DLC it has been a while.
2nd: Unable to pickup surivors : Recently I haven't seen this. Thanks
3rd: Drifting. Tried two different controllers, one new. The vision drifts to the left or right at least once a game (set to high sensitivity but not moving sticks).
4th: Killer grabbing survivor - Thanks for explaining and I understand how the communications work but it is so survivor sided I've managed to record myself escaping a spirit as a survivor which was totally unfair on the spirit as I was so slow letting go. Also the killer should not have a failed grab but a hit which I also find unfair.

Putting aside the fact that punishing people for playing with friends is absurd, penalizing SWF will also penalize solo survivors, because it'll make the entire team less effective.
"... punishing people for playing with friends..." : Look at it as it not balanced and that solo survivors and mainly solo killers are being punished each game.
"... penalise solo survivors... less effective." : The game is balanced around solo survivors, to be balanced every survivor needs to be effective as solo survivor.

I, and my SWFs, will not play the game if SWF has any debuffs.
I play with two players who aren't top players. Give us debuffs like we're a 4 man rank 1 team and the fun will be gone.
SWFs have never had a debuff only an unfair and unbalanced advantage over solo survivors and killers. The fun will always be there whether you aren't taking advantage of SWF or comms. I'm trying not to comment about you not playing the game if 'any' debuffs are given Mr I Teabag Gate.
@EmpireWinner said:
No
No discussion, no arguement, this comment gives survivors a bad name.
@Rivyn said:
You can't. SWF is a cash cow, and they may leave. Instead, just increase rewards for facing SWF.
Every player is a cash cow, to unbalance for the fun of a few creates further imbalance and refusal to play solo survivor or killer, creating less players and longer wait times for those advantaged players. SWF aren't going to leave because the game is balanced, they just want to play with their friends on the game.

How would nerfing SWFs help the solo experience at all?

I'm a rank 1. I play against rank 1 killers with teammates who are below that level. I'm already forced to pull more than my fair share of the weight.
And it doesn't look that way at all. The devs aren't going to make stupid changes like this. Drive away friends and the game sees a massive drop in popularity.
If you are good enough on a balanced game then you will still play rank 1 against rank 1 killers. "...stupid changes..."? "Drive away friends.."? "...drop in popularity."? Opinion but fact and nerfs and buffs aren't used to drive people away but to balance the game for fairness and fun.
@Fog_King said:
Not all SWF play with coms to communicate. I play with people from different countries, that don't speak the same language as me. We text sometimes, but we don't use the coms. So, should we also get nerfed? The answer to everything seems to be nerf this, nerf that. Maybe people just want to play with their friends. Me and my friends are not toxic, we just want to play together, that's all. Making things worse for a group of survivors, just because they are playing together doesn't make sense to me, because not every SWF is the same.
SWF is unbalanced and then there is SWF with communications. The majority of SWFs use communications and use a language whether native or not so to play together.

So out of curiousity, how does your opinion that SWF is broken factor in BHVRs stats that 4 man SWF only survive 9% more than solo survivors? Do you think they're lying?
There's no problem with SWF. If you think you're getting a sweaty 4 stack every other game, you're just a garbage killer tbh. Do 4 man depip squads exist? Absolutely. But after 2 years of being rank one pretty consistently, I think I go against them maybe 1 out of 100 games. SWF is like the number 1 excuse of killers that are bad but don't want to admit they still have a lot to learn.
SWFs shouldn't have an advantage, whether 1% 9% or a lot more. SWF information is hidden by BHVR before and after the game, why is that?
@Yung_Slug said:
Adding a penalty to SWF does a lot more harm than good. Just give solos more information, what's so hard about that?
The game initially brought an uncertainty of what others were doing, by giving solo's more information creates a stronger superman survivor with special powers which will be countered by a stronger super killer which will be a different game, whether good or bad.
By adding in-game communications you give everyone the balance, people learn to say "do gens", "ghostface", "help me" in many languages. You can even turn off comms, like other games to be a better solo survivor. The list is endless but then so is the wait times for survivors wanting to play against a killer... especially with the new licenced survivor meta perk coming out...
-
A failed grab should be a hit, there is no excuse for this.
I really enjoyed the grab 2 survivors of a gen in one game challenge in the archive with how broken and more difficult it is now
-
Just destroyed a rank 11 killer with all being red ranks, the other 3 likely swf but it's hidden from everyone but BHVR.
Felt really bad, usual stuff of him hooking 2 survivors at end and going back to check on first. I unhook 2nd and get hit protecting him. Hit gives me speed burst to next hook and I take hit as they get unhooked. I get hooked then they unhook me to give me BT (not needed) and they go down. Killer picks up 1st hooked survivor to be DSd. Killer must have just dropped controller and walked away
-
I love playing survivor as their super hero perks is vast, powerful and has lots of synergy. In a swf you can even multiply them/share perks like spine chill and become even more powerful.
Playing killer you try and find some synergy but there isn't anything powerful. I remember playing a killer with generator defence perks that all worked together corrupt, ruin, pop.
Then pop was nerfed with a weak surge perk and now try kicking with weak ruin, also wasn't there a perk from cowboy that also did something with generators preventing being popped?
Toolboxes nerfed and buffed
Some maps reworked to try and remove infinite loops and a map with breakable walls was added...
No point in buying killer for perks in next dlc
-
Lack of bug fixes for killers affects number of killers.
Lack of killers affect increased survivor lobby waiting times.
Increased survivor lobby waiting times affect survivors...
This negatively affects survivors...
However the next step is...
Affected survivors reduce in numbers which reduces survivor lobby waiting times or play killer due to insta lobbies which then returns full cycle but with fewer and fewer players.
-
Would this be the patch for huntress that hasn't fixed hatchets that go round corners since dedicated servers?
-
My favourite and frequent programming lag when playing killer is doing a grab then grasping nothing but thin air which is understandable but isn't as it should count as a hit instead of what could be a double hit.

I don't get it. They simply said: we really don't know what the fuq is going on with swf. We'll release the MMR system and see if it's really a catastrophic problem. That's basically it.
I personally don't think they're hiding something. Maybe it's just you, people remember bad experiences more than good ones, that's why most people memorize swf as unfun.
Dedicated servers should allow them to know exactly what is going on with stats.
They are constantly tweaking matchmaking right now.
You can't fix matchmaking without balancing SWF eg slowdowns or offer killers option of more BP against them.
MMR batch matchmaking will either see short term gain and reduced or be catastrophic, from what I've understood the killer player base will face any level so giving SWFs a further buff. Long term it will be bad but only from what they have described they will do.
Long term they will have a next gen for Christmas and what...

On PlayStation I'd love a 2-3 minute wait for survivor especially late. Until they address the imbalance with SWF you risk harming the player base

It's not bannable. "We won't ban you for it, but you're going to hell for it" is their stance on it.
It's the equivalent of using Discord to talk with your SWF buddies. You're using Discord to gain a communication advantage -- but then do you ban people for using Discord?
Many monitors have crosshairs built right into the system itself. You can turn the overlay on with a setting. Do you ban people just for having specific monitors?
Perhaps in the next gen console they'll add crosshairs with the comms.
However it wouldn't be used, like comms, people only talk about the weather and their day on SWFs for BHVR not to need to balance them with solo survivors... :D

Still not a reason for trying to punish people for something that's been keeping the game alive. There are bigger issues that need attention, instead of trying to forbid people from playing with their friends, because some random Joe didn't get a 4k.
What's been keeping the game alive?
-
Sounds bugs for months have killed noises from survivors either injuried or mainly downed, who needs iron will!
-
You get blocked into a corner by 2 of the 3 SWF survivors who heal you to 99%. They have brought a key and have 3 gens all close to each other. The 3rd SWF jumps in and out of lockers to summon the killer who then hooks you so the hatch spawns for them to escape.
-
Therefore you believe "BHVR don't balance their game with SWFs on comms..."
Welcome to the world of BHVR don't care about you, have you thought about playing survivor or civ?
-
OoO is a perk that isn't OP unless used by SWFs on comms, so...
BHVR don't balance their game with SWFs on comms...
Or
BHVR always intended the game to be SWF after release so OoO is just another balanced perk.
Those tend to be the thoughts of killers and survivors.
-
Do you play killer?
To rank up as killer isn't about 4k, many survivors feel upset about not escaping but the killer must do many tasks to pip and reach red ranks.
NoED might do nothing or 4k but it hardly gives you enough to rank up

This isn't something like so aliens exist, the information is there but not provided either in game or stats.
@Doddle28 I understand, however the lack of information and transparency from BHVR would make me believe aliens exist even if I thought they didn't ;) lol

A good survivor is going to know these things though. If I'm not being chased I can assume someone else is and do a gen. If im injured I can find a survivor by looking around different gens. Does swf give an advantage Yes. But to say its a problem is wrong. The problem would be 4 good survivors who know what they are doing and be efficient. You are also assuming that every swf plays optimally which is totally untrue. Ive demolished groups of players who have no idea what they are doing.
A good survivor will never know these things, they can make good guesses. They don't know if another survivor is also running to unhook, team has cleaned two totems already and will clean the one in the killer shack he hasn't been to try, knows the killer before they even see them, knows where the killer is in chase.... I'll be here all day.
If you're injuried you meet up somewhere you know where the killer isn't and heal quickly as a team but only after SWF meta DS has finished and gen popped. If you're a good survivor you can run the whole map looking for one person to heal you wasting time or improve with losing perk slots bond or selfcare.
Is SWF cheating? It gives an unfair advantage to players over others so yes, is it stopable? No, so is it permitted, yes.
Would killers wish to avoid paying SWFs? Yes. Why? Because they have been introduced with no attempt to balance their extra powers/perks thus making it an extra step up from the rank the killer is currently.
If many killers wish to avoid SWFs then yes, there is a problem.
If I don't enjoy playing killer then maybe I would also say there isn't a problem as I'd only be playing survivor but then... why don't I enjoy playing killer.
Yes, there is a problem

I read something about it really isn't that important despite how it feels... which makes me further uneasy about red rank survivors longer wait times.

I'd tell you that 80% of this game is played by survivors and BHVR want their money.
In fact it is more that 80% that play survivor but only recently have BHVR woken up to needing someone to play killer and start balancing the game.

Happens constantly on console and is used as a tactic with SWFs when players are being chased, returning to a survivor on the ground and everyone will have experienced the survivors who are next to an open gate on full health.
It's a simple fix but then so is having survivors making noises on the ground?
-
No, wasn't farming just saving them. I'm not sure how I'm going to get out of purple ranks if they keep doing this
-
Thank you guys so much for the replies.
I've only been asked if I was SWF when a rank 18 and 19 were shown to have been playing with us, I was asked by the other red rank survivor!
I've often wondered as survivor if I've been carried by a 3 or 2 man SWF but as killer you're not sure if you played badly or had faced a team coordinated on comms.

Brought enjoyment and easy mode to survivors and hardship to killers. This should never be in the game unless balanced.

I'm on PC and some of those green and purples (not all of them) were definitely swf as they were friends on steam. It's odd to me as well since I'd assume some of those teams should have been paired with purple rank killers but we all know matchmaking is broken at the moment so I'm not surprised...
I really must play DBD on PC, the SWFs on communications must be less than consoles with players using the preinstalled communications.
I've just reached rank 1 killer playing Wraith and know how lethal he can be in the right killers hands

What system do you play DBD on? On PS4 there are lots of people in SWF Comms.
Adobe reaching red ranks on killer I hardly ever get anything but red rank survivors, how are you getting purple?

BHVR will see that DCing whilst reduced at first is slowly reoccurring as players find acceptable ways for them to dc.
Increase bans to fix this as this game is stable and my internet is not a problem.
Behaviour DC penalties have made this game more enjoyable, thank you.

First it would be impossible for the game to know if you are on comms. You communicate on Xbox via their own in-house comm system not through DBD, PCs use Discord...hell you could all communicate on a cellphone as far as that went. Secondly, if you want to punish people for swfs...how do you propose to punish the 2 swf and not the two solos as well? Or what about the swfs who aren't on comms? Go ahead and dream but not going to happen. And btw...as a person who plays swfs (mostly 2 man on comms but also 3 man and 4 man ones) the advantage isn't as great as you imagine. I've been crushed in a swf match and I have destroyed killers as a solo. Do you have an advantage as a swf...sure...like being told some loser is camping using insidious, but the advantage isn't all that great. As much as I'd love to be on Task Force Blue and bully killers until they uninstalled the game...sadly we aren't all that. Saw a rank 20 (with 2000 hours in game I'll admit) destroy a SWF last night....rank 1, rank 3, rank 8, rank 9. You give us too much credit. Of course I suppose in your world if you don't get a 4K every time must be something seriously wrong with the balance.
"First it would be impossible for the game to know if you are on comms."
Yes, I think we can all agree on that which is why comms can't be blocked. I'm not sure why you're going into detail about this tho...
"Secondly, if you want to punish people for swfs...how do you propose to punish the 2 swf and not the two solos as well? Or what about the swfs who aren't on comms?"
Copied and pasted from my very first post: "BHVR appears to be improving their game and would like to suggest two options when the killer plays SWFs, for them to either take an improved BP or for the developing killers a slow down (like thana) imposed only on the SWF players."
"Go ahead and dream but not going to happen."
Please explain why you don't want balance in the game?
"And btw...as a person who plays swfs (mostly 2 man on comms but also 3 man and 4 man ones) the advantage isn't as great as you imagine."
I think I know why you haven't expanded on your statement previous to this now...
"I've been crushed in a swf match and I have destroyed killers as a solo. Do you have an advantage as a swf...sure...like being told some loser is camping using insidious, but the advantage isn't all that great."
You keep telling me it isn't great, simply it is an advantage needs to be balanced.
"As much as I'd love to be on Task Force Blue and bully killers until they uninstalled the game...sadly we aren't all that. Saw a rank 20 (with 2000" hours in game I'll admit) destroy a SWF last night....rank 1, rank 3, rank 8, rank 9."
And vice vera, because SWF lose or win it doesn't mean it shouldn't be balanced.
"You give us too much credit. Of course I suppose in your world if you don't get a 4K every time must be something seriously wrong with the balance."
From this I believe you just play survivor and are frustrated that an unfair advantage you have in SWF could be removed or reduced and I understand that you likely have fun from winning but not losing but think about it from the killers prosepective, how is it fair or fun for them? "For BHVR to have no negative to being in a SWF is crazy, then add onto that they play with communications..."
So, you think survivors should be penalized for simply playing with their friends...before you even taking into consideration comms? Is it? Is it crazy to think in a multi-player game you should be able to squad up without taking a nerf? I don't think thats crazy at all. I think that is pretty standard.
What incentivizes Killers to play with SWF? The fact that they want to play DBD and no one gets to pick and choose who/what they play against. Not survivors, not Killers. You think survivors want to play against a scratched mirror Myers on Lery's or an iri head huntress or a mori on literally any killer? Of course not, but you get what you get.
Killers already earn BP easier than survivors, and not every SWF is a SWAT Team that needs to be slowed down.
You know what also has an effect on up and coming players? Killers with full, optimal load outs and hundreds of hours in the game, who lurk in low ranks because they enjoy owning newb survivors teams. But alas, they exist. In droves, because it's harder to PIP as Killer. And you know what, that's life.
The game has made TONS of changes aimed at bridging the gap between SWF/Killers for the last year and a half. Suck it up.
"Is it crazy to think in a multi-player game you should be able to squad up without taking a nerf? I don't think thats crazy at all. I think that is pretty standard."
Standard in some games, not in others which includes this game. SWF you know what loadout to bring and not waste slots with duplicates such as Small Game. SWFC where you could for reasonable example run OoO on one survivor who can relay the killers location to the entire team or not to have three waste their time by all trying to unhook them etc. This is why in a time management loop simulator comms negate many perks and optimise time compared to solo teams, why if they wish to play with their friends should they not be balanced with solo players and have no negatives?
"What incentivizes Killers to play with SWF? The fact that they want to play DBD and no one gets to pick and choose who/what they play against. Not survivors, not Killers. You think survivors want to play against a scratched mirror Myers on Lery's or an iri head huntress or a mori on literally any killer? Of course not, but you get what you get."
I'm afraid killers do get to pick and choose who they face, that is why they see what items survivors are bringing in and if there are 4 identically dressed Claudettes. The reason why people want to play survivor is it is fun and whilst some people enjoy playing killer even at times the fun is exhausting trying to deal with 4 seperate minds or with SWF 4 collective minds. If certain killers/perks/addons are unfun or unfair they get nerfed/balanced.
"Killers already earn BP easier than survivors, and not every SWF is a SWAT Team that needs to be slowed down."
Not every killer is after BP, I play DBD for fun. If you play console nearly every SWF is a 'chilled' team on comms in red ranks, you can't argue that because SWF is an advantage people will not use it... "Chill team 6, the unspecified stealthy killer may or may not be about to creep up on you".
"You know what also has an effect on up and coming players? Killers with full, optimal load outs and hundreds of hours in the game, who lurk in low ranks because they enjoy owning newb survivors teams. But alas, they exist. In droves, because it's harder to PIP as Killer. And you know what, that's life."
I found sweaty survivors in droves when a new killer, it works both ways although to be honest once you rank to around 10-12 on killer you are facing a red rank SWF due to demand of people wanting to have fun as survivor not killer.
"The game has made TONS of changes aimed at bridging the gap between SWF/Killers for the last year and a half."
Vague but I'd be happy to hear about only 10 of those tons please...
"Suck it up."
I think killers have done a pretty good job so far and it is exactly that attitude why some killers have been trying and leaving to play CIV.

I know how to fix it: balance around swat swf groups. This means you have to buff killers and but also solo survivors. Once everyone is on the same page everyone can have fun.
BHVRs response has so far been to buff all survivors first.....

Noone is asking to make solos EXACTLY as strong as 4 men swat team on coms. But you can't deny that the gap is insanely huge and you can't deny that many little changes could close the gap a lot. Ofc, it's never gonna be completely closed. But I take 1 meter gap over 1 kilometer gap and it's gonna be very healthy for everyone.
Exactly, you can't ignore it. You have to attempt to help reduce that impossible gap.

Killers have been leaving in their droves, hence the wait times and ridiculous matchmaking. To buff solo survivors to SWF level who currently aren't balanced and overpowered to see how it goes would be a mistake.
The reason SWFs aren't identified to killers are only because they are mainly dodged due to the unfun and unfair advantage, why aren't BHVR addressing this? You need killers for survivors to play unless killers are being automated.
Give the killers an option with SWFs, more bp or Thana like slow down to attempt to balance

See, this is what killers should be fighting for instead of trying to get DS or Unbreakable or DH or some other totally fine survivor perk nerfed. The perks are not the problem, it's SWF that's the problem. The perks are easily played around, SWF much less so. A perkless SWF squad of really good survivors is going to steamroll pretty much any killer in the game, therefore perks are NOT the problem. Sorry it's just triggering how many people complain about DS recently and how ######### easy as ######### it is to play around.
That said, IMO the best solution to SWF is to limit perks to 1 instance among the group. That means only 1 person can run DS, only 1 can have UB, only 1 can have DH, and so on. If you are solo this doesn't affect you. If you are dubs then you basically get more perks to pick from, but still no overlap. If you are a 4 man then you need to focus on team builds and can't just run full meta on each survivor. You'd need to spread out all the best perks, or you could stack all those perks on 1 guy whose entire purpose is to get chased all game.
You buff or nerf a perk / add-on but you'll never make that huge gap with SWF comms.

Swf should have never happened. They should've sticked to their design philosophy. They designed a game around solo players not knowing what others do.
Now rank 1 is full of 4-swfs with second chance loadouts, because behaviour doesnt balance around them.
Safe to say, the complains about swf should be taken seriously. But the devs wont do anything about it. Its a higranked killer problem, who cares. Lowranked 4-swfs are more important.
I've have this discussion with SWFs that they are cheating and each time they stop wanting to talk about it because it is an obvious unfair advantage to those who play solo survivor, take for example the statements in this thread that have as much substance as policitians promises.
I'd love BHVR to actually show me who I play and whether they are really decent players or just another SWF littered around red ranks but then that would be officially addressing the white elephant.
The solution is quite simple, you just thana slow down the SWFs or for the hard core killers offer them more % of BP.
