Lots of people don't want to play survivor either. There's a reason killer queues aren't instant. LOL
I'm not sure if you don't play on console but killer queues are instant and faster than survivor, BHVR hope to delay them with the new 'batch matchmaking'.
Personally from what I've heard of BHVR buffing solo players is the wrong way.
Killers choosing swf or solo queues is a great temporary step.
BHVR employees, when are you addressing this huge issue to this game?
-
@LALYTHIA said:
I've seen this mentioned here and I dont think the idea is all that bad: They should just tune the game to SWF and add comms for all. Being coordinated is the biggest advantage SWF has. If everyone had it and the game was just balanced to SWF so Killers felt like they were on level playing ground this argument would end and devs wouldn't be struggling to balance the game for a sub-group of one of their categories of players.
There are lots of great ideas how to attempt to bridge the balance but BHVR just need to pick a date when this can be fixed.
No buff/nerf to survivors perks or addons have been made to address this gap that is huge but they are made in the name of 'balance'.
Balancing the game should bring enjoyment to all survivors and killers which in turn should fix these 'matchmaking' issues where hardly anybody wants to play killer.
-
@Mister_Holdout said:
BHVR is incapable of solving this issue.
SWF will probably always be the most powerful force in this game.
BHVR should be capable of making adjustments and whilst not perfect it would make our game fairer for all.
@Nurgling7 said:
They'd first have to admit that SWF is a problem they have blatantly been ignoring for years.
It has been admitted by plans to buff solo survivors
@Steel_Eyed said:
I can answer this: there’s nothing to fix.
And after a lovely first constructive message...

I'm hoping some BHVR employee working from home could help repair the game in its current state?

There is not much communication in this direction, so my interpretion is more like it's everybody's own business to play solo as SWF is probably the way the game should be played from BHVR pov.
In their enclosed streams they have mentioned to try and buff solo survivors to SWF level so it is acknowledged but little is done.
It makes a farce of nerfing and buffing perks/addons in the name of balance when there is a gap before solo and SWF survivors that will never be fixed that way as they both can use them.
Ideas have been suggested and I prefer a slow down 'thana' like method to prevent the organised 'gen rush'/survivor objectives being accomplished in a comms co-ordinated way. I shouldn't expand on the subject just hope that BHVR respond to the subject point that needs to be fixed SWFs >solos

So what are you saying? You want SWF easy mode for solo? Or do you want SWF to be just as difficult as solo?
Are you killer or survivor? The community is pretty divided on the subject.
As far as facts are concerned though - SWF is incredibly unfair to killers due to communication. However, if people couldn't play with their friends, most people would quit. There have been solutions and workarounds suggested, but the reality is that if ANY of them are introduced to the game SWF players or killers would be furious with it. SWF would complain about any advantage to the killer, and killers would complain that it didn't do anything to balance the game.
Long and short of it is SWF is broken yes, but nearly impossible to balance without major flak from the community.
Firstly thank you for a decent and honest response, there are people on here that just muddy the water.
>So what are you saying? You want SWF easy mode for solo? Or do you want SWF to be just as difficult as solo?
I'm saying BHVR have done next to nothing to address this problem, personally I would want BHVR to attempt to balance the divide. BHVR gave a vague comment about buffing solo survivors to match SWFs with no deadline. In my opinion SWFs need to be slowed down to balance with solos.
>Are you killer or survivor? The community is pretty divided on the subject.
I am a survivor main but only gave up playing killer against either SWFs in red ranks, there is no reward or fun in doing so as it is too coordinated.
>As far as facts are concerned though - SWF is incredibly unfair to killers due to communication. However, if people couldn't play with their friends, most people would quit.
I agree that most survivors hop on with their friends on SWFs, my request for BHVR to speak about this isn't to stop SWFs but to balance them.
>There have been solutions and workarounds suggested, but the reality is that if ANY of them are introduced to the game SWF players or killers would be furious with it.
I'm not sure why killers or even solo survivors would be furious with an attempt to fix the imbalance. SWFs would obviously be upset as with any balancing nerf or happy with a balancing buff.
>SWF would complain about any advantage to the killer, and killers would complain that it didn't do anything to balance the game.
I think most people can't disagree that "SWF SURVIVOR > SOLO SURVIVOR" just because they are solo survivors with extras.
>Long and short of it is SWF is broken yes, but nearly impossible to balance without major flak from the community.
The only flak would be from SWFs or from killers if it wasn't. Personally I mostly play solo survivor now and don't know if I am doing well because I am a good survivor or if I am playing with an SWF.
When the game is so obviously imbalanced as it is queue times rocket unless you further imbalance matchmaking which is what has happened again recently with rainbow lobbies of survivors (unless you play SWF).
If BHVR can't fix the imbalanace of "SWF SURVIVOR > SOLO SURVIVOR" they are intentionally killing their own game.
-
DS simply isn't an anti-tunnel perk.
If a killer eats my DS then they most certainly will be after me straight away
It is mostly used for the final escape when hooked near the gate where everyone has healed up and then I am hopefully unhooked with BT and surrounded by fellow survivors. If I'm confident I'll fall short of the exit just in time to crawl to the finish line or be picked up for the killer to eat DS, it's an old trick but goes to show BT is an anti-tunnel perk where DS allows a god like status for a whole minute in a short game.
-
It is also common for the healthy survivor to search for the hatch and maybe wait or for them to die or to go and heal the other person on the floor.
The only reason I have heard why there is even a hatch in the game was due to survivors hiding and holding the game hostage! Be thankful there is an unfair hatch appear for an easy escape.
-
SWF Survivor* > Solo Survivor
^^^ How is that balanced?
*Key: *Survivor can be sweaty/chilled it really doesn't matter
I really can't make it more simple than that, I honestly believe there are people in this forum who do nothing but try and divert the topic of conversation.
BHVR have failed and continue to fail to balance the game yet make changes to the perks/killers/addons in the name of balance.
-
:D You are welcome but BHVR killing their golden goose shouldn't be funny but is.

Devs be pulling in that dark SWF money lmao
The reality is that, the reason they don't do anything about the "SWF Problem" is because it's not really that big of a problem. Not every SWF you see is a coordinated depip squad, it's usually just people casually playing with friends, and BHVR has publicly available stats to back that up. 4 man SWF groups only survive 9% more than a solo survivor on average. If you think you're getting destroyed by coordinated SWFs every game, the problem is likely just you.
The reality is that SWFs as mentioned whether chilled or higher tempo'd are at an advantage over solo survivors and killers.
When I play SWF I play to win as survivor whether I'm goofing around or not and being the only survivor with a 3 SWF is an advantage and disadvantage as when that NoED kicks in and all 3 are at the gate...
Personally I believe SWFs are made of players that play the game but BHVR believe it is them that pay their wages so don't do anything.
-
I had it as survivor and have also employed this when I used to play killer, until BHVR make it fun for killers there will be killers who make it unfun for survivors... part of the way BHVR seem to want it.
-
Usual arguments about SWF and still BHVR do nothing to fix it.

Did you...not read the title?
Couldn't resist. Killers probably are trying to improve their skills without perks.
What rank and killers?
-
No, they probably are SWF and have dropped perks to balance the game for the developers
-
@Shaped said:
It doesn't matter now because survivors stay in the lobby. It isn't annoying like it was before when it sent everyone back to the main menu.
Dedicated servers allow survivors not to be disconnected so I'm happy with that as killers should be about to choose who they play. SWF teams should either be slowed down or solo survivors and killers be rewarded, its not rocket science BHVR.
-
BHVR servers will have their information useful for you locating them however it most likely is a young child who gets upset when they lose.
-
They have changed matchmaking again without updating patch notes.
I mentioned in a couple of post but seems they have just chucked rainbow colour survivors together.
Also SWF isn't doing what they were doing previously, playing with a low rank will give you a low rank killer again
-
I agree that there is too much information for survivors.
They have done it for new survivors which is funny as when I played survivor at the start I was too busy looking at the map to read the messages.
-
I've said it once and I'll say it again.
Dedicated servers are great but you don't use them for game play like they have done.
-
Scary cowboy DLC only offered a reasonable survivor perk but wasn't good unfortunately
-
Scary cowboy is new so would expect people who bought the character to play him most at the moment.
The survivors are at a disadvantage not knowing who the killer is so restricting who you play could be abused with SWFs choosing killers or preparing builds against killers.
During release of the new killer I ran perks more suitable against him and his map and did much better.
In short, I doubt this would happen but understand the frustration of oh no not the new killer again
-
Fun for killer and survivor
-
This might sound like you could have fun playing killer doing this at leatherface
-
Solution: Playkiller, you get insta lobbies on console.
Issue: It's not fun to play killer
BHVR: We'll fix 'matchmaking' with another system that will work...
BHVR makes playing killer fun...
Issue: none, people play killer and survivor. Balance has been restored
-
BHVR want killers to be bullied in a playground mentality.
-
1. The pallet vacuum removal
> The problem is in the name, killers under a pallet should be hit
2. The Exhaustion nerf
> Without exhaustion I'd be running all of those perks as survivor
3. The DS Rework/Nerf
> Wasn't that a buff???
4. The Mettle of Man nerf, probably the most hard hitting nerf to the survivor meta in the game, ever.
> A perk that made playing one side too enjoyable probably isn't fair
5. The Balanced Landing nerf
> Used that over and over and... brought into line... actually balanced!
6. The mere existence of the Spirit
> You do know you can juke her like nurse.. wait hold on nurse and spirit performed too well so...
7. The mere existence of Iridescent heads and how they still havent been nerfed in years.
> Not fun to play against like Mori, Keys or hatch
8. The mere existence of literally wall hack add-ons such as Myer's Mirrors.
> As he crawls along...
9. The nerfs to Medkits, toolboxes, and insta heals. Admittedly yes, instas were OP and toolboxes played a large part in gen rushing. But now, both are worthless.
> Instas take a few seconds now, give that to a looper with Adrenaline... Toolboxes were too strong.
10. The mere existence of the endgame collapse.
> ... Seriously?
11. The mere existence of second chance perks like NOED.
> Ok, I've obviously realised I've fallen for the bait... 2nd chance survivor swf meta perks you mean?
12. The fact that bugs/glitches/exploits that benefit killers (i.e. Legion walking backwards after a survivor while their Deep Wound ticked down) don't get patched for months while ones that benefit survivors (i.e. when Wake Up buffed ALL speeds) get patched in a day.
> Still waiting on sound issues to be fixed month after month now... Killers need sound!
13. The fact that the match runs off the killers connection. If there is even a SLIGHT drop in connection quality, the survivors feel it. I literally faced a Legion playing on a Wifi Hotspot some time ago. The worst lag I ever experienced. He said he didn't lag at all.
> You are trolling now, everything goes through DBD Amazon servers which means even gameplay (yikes!)
14. The fact that killers can get away scott free with holding the game hostage because they're scared of getting Decisive Striked/want their 4k/etc.
> Bleeding out and remove hatch mechanics... seriously are you trolling?
15. The double standard regarding DCing. Why is okay for a killer to DC from the map they don't like, and yet it's frowned upon when survivors DC bc, say, they don't want to face a particular killer?
> Killers hardly DC from experience but when a survivor does it they normally ruin everyones game.
16. The fact that camping and tunneling is considered strategic and yet, for example, jumping into a locker to force your DS isnt.
> DS is an anti tunneling perk but used as an anti momentum / 60secs of invincibility perk. Please play both sides
-
Look if any one can the candy man can! :D
-
The disconnect penalties are too fair and my game hardly ever crashes.
You realise that you could turn it off on the wall and the Devs wouldn't know if that was a power cut or intentional?
Similar to communications on SWF, Devs can't tell so allow it
-
@Accullla said:
- There's a kobe acheivement. It's normal to try to kobe if you know you're getting saved before hitting second stage
- If you kobe you get 1.5k bloodpoints in the survival category, which is the most difficult to max out, as the maximum you can get is 5k, unless you wiggle, DS or kobe
- Aside from very specific situations (and if you're playing to win) don't heal someone with self-care. Even if they don't have a med kit, or botany it's still more efficient to get the killer's attention or just do a gen
Based on what you've said above your behaviour isn't any less selfish than those people's
1. Self, I run a map to rescue and penalised if they unhook.
2. See 1.
3. Don't heal team members and get the killers attention or so a gen??
My comment would discourage selfish behaviour. How many times have I healed someone only for them to get up and immediately grab the survivor I was going to unhook next to me but didn't straight away as they were nearer. How many times do I watch someone run around looking for the hatch and not doing gens because they found a key.
-
Next time I'll just run by if I see they are trying it. It is punishment to the team but you were a man down before the game started with them.
-
I feel the DC penalties too fair and need to be increased, so many of them happen around bed time.
-
Mori and keys shouldn't be in the game.
Hatch needs to be replaced with something fair...
I could have done nothing or everything as a survivor but to have an 'easy' exit appear then if closed get two gates next to each other...
-
The game isn't balanced, they killer should have the power role but for SWFs.
Some can be chill but like to believe there are some people who haven't hit puberty that play this game
-
Corrupt just mean't I just sat near a generator for 2 minutes as other joined me then all 3 of us hammered it in seconds.
Pop only works if you let the killer kick it, just sit on the gen until it is done with others before making the save and usually it is done before the killer can kick it.
-
I've had two afks today and both were against Myers... needless to say those matches didn't last long and the afk survivor strangely was the last to survive ;)
-
I have been playing solo survivor and have noticed rainbow lobbies, two different games together and different people were all yellow rank SWFs... that was and wasn't fun
-
I loved the moment the BHVR employee that sat there and said they had always intended survive with friends were to be included in the game but for some reason they couldn't fit it in ... yet ... KYF was (*ahhhh* Bull*ahem*)
A simple option for killers to only play solo survivors is easy to implement as how the game was intended and I would play killer again.
If they were to do a thana like slowdown on SWFs (consoles 99% on comms) then if actually balanced and fair then I would play killer with it being fun again... but here I sit in a survivor queue waiting for some killer to play a daily or archive...
-
Something has to change but the problem appears to be BHVRs resistance to change anything, delay things and hardly ever talk about it.
Survivors are getting hit box issues but Devs didn't mention everything on PS4 90%+ goes through an American amazon server, now I ask why is gameplay going from you to America, others going to America and updates back from America what everyone is doing... there is no wonder the hits are crazy! However they talked about a minor thing 'dressing'?!
-
Identify issue, firstly is it maps or SWFs... neither appear to be looked into with much haste
-
You only have to look at matchmaking as to how broken it is.
SWF's are fine as you're always going to get the same people but either you are stuck in a looooong survivor queue or you are paired up with a rainbow lobby or new players.
Don't get me wrong, great game needing to be improved but dear god please fix the balancing... kind of embarrassing
-
@animalmak said:
If actions were tweaked to be a little more interesting than holding R1 on a gen and hoping for a skill check, I could understand slight speed nerfs to SWF - but ONLY if it's a 3-or-4 man. And I would argue that if it's a 3-man, the solo survivor should get a slight speed buff to balance their part. I don't think 2-man SWF unbalances the game enough to warrant a speed nerf.
Also if killers are running any gen slowdown/regression perks, those speed nerfs are just going to make gens take FOREVER. And gens are honestly the worst part of gameplay. I prefer chases and unhooks.
I don't think a slight speed buff to SWF is necessarily a /bad/ idea, but it runs the risk of making the main survivor objective really boring, and that may end up driving away players.
I think a better option would be to award bonus bloodpoints (win or lose) for any solo survivors and killers paired with SWF. It's a nice little surprise bonus at the end, and then if the killer didn't get a bonus, they can't complain about being stomped on by SWF when they just happened to face a team that understands how you're supposed to play with other people. (Sorry that last statement came off survivor-sided, but I've only ever seen complaints from killer mains, and I genuinely don't know if there's a way to tell you're going against SWF because at least on console I can never tell. I just accept my loss and move on.)
It isn't SWF know what they are doing it is more how communication removes the isolation that the gamers thrived off, however now you could instead talk with your friends.
The SWF advantages are so numerous I don't know where to start, simply mentioning that the game is time managed so you will only ever get one person running a map to unhook rather than two, totem locations once known are known by all and are cleaned if needed, who the killer is, where the killer is, where the traps are, who is healing who, auro perks not needed, single perks can be used by all.
Everyone knows the game isn't balanced and BHVR are only buffing solo... or all survivors... sometime... WTH!

Not everyone plays in swf though. Some people are just good. I've gotten msg from killers saying good teamwork with your swf and I'd flat out state I wasn't in one. 9/10 I'm playing solo. Swf isn't a problem, it's just that some people are good and some aren't.
Indeed, however if you are good solo you are insanely good in a SWF with comms. Balance is needed BHVR... anyone there BHVR?

Because i would destroy any SWF team.
Okay, thanks again but you seem to be lacking details.
It's like saying because...
-
People need to play killer so we need more Dailies and Archives to force us to do so until it becomes fun
-
I moved from killer to survivor basically because SWFs obtain an unfair advantage with comms.
I have once seen a 4x SWF group play only 2 perks which I thought good for them to try and balance the game.
It would take more than 1.5x BP's if survivors are lobby dodging to play with their friends let them, the queue time is terrible as survivor and wouldn't want to keep leaving a lobby once I'd got into one especially trying to get 4 in at once!
Simply everyone knows SWF has an advantage over solo but it is fun to play with friends and win, BHVR really should learn than killing your product you truly need to balance it so that people would want to play killer.

@PureHostility not sure he did say that?!
Simply players in SWFCs have an advantage over solos with 3rd party stealth communications. Whether it is allowed, cheating, abused or not it simply is an advantage over solo players that needs to be balanced to make it fair and fun for those affected

Just been in a lobby as the killer. Up against 4 pro SWF groups. After 4 gennys gone and not one person killed. I dcd out of it and got a 4 minute penalty. So that's 2 penalties today because of unfair match making.
If the lobbies are going to be like this all the time when playing this game I will have no option but to quit the game. I can't keep going in lobbies like this.
They obviously have changed matchmaking again (without publishing anything in patch notes).
As a survivor it goes from waiting excessively for a match to waiting for rainbow coloured ranked survivors, no wonder BHVR are trying to hide ranks when they don't fix the issue of mainly the killer being unbalanced and unfun to play.
